1. chrollo. the way that this isn’t even because i have favoritism towards chrollo, its because he’s so responsible🥹🥹🥹 like do you see the way that he basically takes care of the troupe? fathered so hard he mothered tbh. chrollo is literally so girl dad coded🥺 prolly cried when his held his child for the first time. he’d be the sweetest, brushing his daughter’s hair and taking her shopping.

2. pakunoda. she’s so respectful and self sacrificial and responsible im crying🥺 she makes me cry real skibidi tears like togashi look at what you took away from us. she’d be the literal sweetest mama ever. she’s soooo girl mom coded it’s insane. can you imagine her painting her daughter’s nails pink?🥹💕 she would 100% take her daughter on mall trips all the time.

3. phinks. controversial opinion but this guy would lowkey but SUCH A GOOD DAD. remember during the chimera ant arc when he gave shizuku his clothes because she lost hers? i just KNOW that he would play video games with his son and once begrudgingly wore a tiara for his daughter.

4. franklin. i don’t think he’d ever have kids (or want them for that matter), but if ever were to babysit kids, just know that he’ll be great. since we all know that he’s literally just a chill guy, he’ll just let the kids play video games and eat food the whole time.

5. nobunaga. okay okay HEAR ME OUT HE WOULD BE SO CUTE. like okay he wouldn’t be a “good” parent, but can you imagine him running around with his kid wreaking havoc and letting them play with his hair? like come on that’s literally like my dream dad😭❤️

6. shizuku. now she definitely is NOT responsible, but she doesn’t even need to be because she’ll lowkey be so chill and nice with her kids. there’s a saying that kids like pretty girls, and shizuku is definitely that. she’ll probably let her kids play on her phone or something, and i lowkey don’t think she’ll care if they take her glasses or smth.

7. machi. she’s responsible, don’t get me wrong, but i think she’ll be a bit too strict on her kid because she has trouble expressing any positive emotions. but when her kid runs away crying, she’ll instantly feel SO BAD and try her best to comfort the kid. she might make them a doll or some clothes or something.

8. bonolenov. we don’t really know too much about him, but he seems to care a lot about the troupe, so then it’s probably natural to assume that he’ll be the same with his children, if he ever has any, of course. he’ll probably teach them about their clan and what the holes in his clan’s body symbolizes.

9. shalnark. now, he’s a friendly and “sweet” guy, but i have a strong feeling that he wouldn’t like kids very much. they’re probably too dumb and pure for his liking, and he probably feels sort of uncomfortable when it comes to kids. if he finds out that someone is going to have his kids, then 90% of the time, shalnark will pull a ging freecss. the other 10% of the time, he’ll try his best.

10. uvogin. he’s the type of guy to want his child to learn how to fight and learn Nen as soon as possible, even if he has to initiate them to unlock their aura nodes. he’d lowkey drink beer one day and offer his kids some beer too, forgetting that they’re underage. but he loves his kids dearly though and would do anything for them, so that’s good enough.

11. feitan. oh this guy HATES KIDS. he finds them annoying and loud and stupid, and he gets the ick even when he LOOKS at a kid. if he ever had a kid, (which he probably wouldn’t but just hypothetically speaking) he’d have less of a reaction considering how that kid literally comes from inside of him, but he’d begrudgingly raise them as best he can…if it’s a son. if it’s a daughter, then i feel like he’ll be much softer and (try to be) more gentle.

12. illumi. pretty self explanatory tbh. he’ll love his kids dearly, but he’ll express it in toxic and unhealthy ways (he’ll also put them through terrible Zoldyck training)

13. hisoka. do NOT let this man near kids, even his own.

That would be incorrect! The twins never formally state that their family is a mafia. For that matter, no character does. Both Jade and Floyd do have various birthday vignettes (most notably Birthday Boys and Platinum Jackets) where they talk about their parents and drop dialogue which would imply the line of work their father is in is shady. For example, the twins were taught suspiciously specific self-defense skills such as lock-picking and how to escape from ropes. The Leech parents are also constantly worrying for the safety of their sons... but why, hmm? Some concern is expected, but in what situation would a kid need to know how to lock-pick and escape from binds???

On numerous instances, Jade and Floyd mention that their dad has many "connections" and "business associates" who try to gain his trust by giving his sons gifts, so he makes them sign contracts which state that they won't be looking for favors in return. Again, not normal people behavior. There's the insinuation that the family is well-off, and that the Leech dad is concerned about how one dresses (this is where Floyd gets his love of shoes from), which could relate to how the mafia has very strict codes about presentation and behavior. Floyd has also said that he has been to many formal, stuffy parties (presumably for family business) and he didn't enjoy them very much.

The twins themselves are just as evasive when the subject of what specific work their dad does comes up. It is mostly Jade who does not elaborate on the family details beyond a certain point, whereas Floyd tends to terrorize others with the knowledge of it. One instance of the latter is during the Wish Upon a Star event, in which Floyd asks Idia if he really wants to know what their family does for a living. The idea seems to frighten Idia, even though he is not provided the answer. When Jade is asked what their parents do in his Birthday Boy vignettes, he replies with insisting, “They simply run an independent business that dabbles in a bit of everything. Nothing out of the ordinary, I assure you.” This coming from Jade… We cannot entirely trust it.

Update: New evidence!! Floyd states in his book 7 dream that he is used to having a body double around. When further questioned about this, Floyd states he doesn’t mean Jade; he thinks they look completely different. In the event Eternity Float, Mrs. Georgina Leech is very dodgy about what their family businesses are. She replies with “Oh, my husband does this and that.” All of this together comes off as sort of suspicious, and it has led to the popular (and widely accepted) fan theory that the Leeches are a mafia family. We won't know for sure until TWST outright confirms it, maybe in a Coral Sea hometown event or something.

multiple times Aki brings up that Fuyu doesn’t treat him kindly which could have nuance. Aki was an impressionable young adult (honestly a baby in terms of kitsune lifespans) and having to behold the strict and disciplined Fuyu, especially after the war, definitely could’ve done some emotional damage

Aki has a habit of copying/mimicking Haru a lot (the fake sword, random pickup lines), which I find cute. I don’t think Aki would ever admit that he seems to have some aspiration toward Haru, he has way too much fun making fun of him

Haru : Sees Aki as immature (it’s probably just trying to boost his own image in comparison) but has a soft spot for him in an almost fraternal way /// Thinks Fuyu is a total stick in the mud and probably isn’t capable/desiring of passion or love

Like Aki does to him, Haru likes making digs at Aki but they’re pretty shallow, especially compared to Aki’s thoughts on Fuyu. It’s a bit complicated because Haru definitely doesn’t see Aki as mature or capable of being genuine sometimes (“Are you sure he’s not doing some long con [joke]?”), but he also has a line about Aki’s second tail where there’s sort of a fraternal softness about it? So he cares a little, at least

All his lines about Fuyu are about how stuffy and boring he is, as well as digs at Fuyu’s ability to love (“heart of stone” and preferring a “cold bed”). Haru seems to have this weird thing where he struggles to comprehend other people showing passion/love differently from him. Maybe it’s just his free-spirited mindset or smth idk

Fuyu : has beef with both of them because of his ego and personal code most likely

Okay so I really don’t know why Fuyu exactly has such mean lines about both guys— there’s So much more mockery and venom to some of them than I was expecting from him tbh

Idk if it’s Fuyu just being a drama king or maybe he’s overcompensating with the insults in a retaliation sort of way, fueled by existing prejudice due to his pride and value of tradition and discipline. It also doesn’t help that he’s already a loner and Could have insecurities about being socially othered, but that’s just an idea

Also the way the war turned out with the curse and stuff could have possibly made Fuyu lash out at the others/grow bitter, since Fuyu is known to have an issue with reflecting on his own actions in context to situations and focuses more on correcting the people around him.

OVERALL: They don’t seem that close, almost more distant than I expected. Like they definitely know each other and interact, but only enough to like have maybe 2-3 conversations a week during meetings and the odd chance encounter

Haru and Aki definitely feel more community-oriented based on their lines expressing their enjoyment with being out and about (I’m being vague because I can’t rember specific lines), so it makes sense they both express a little more softness toward each other at least

Fuyu on the other hand is the king of giving people the worst impressions and not wanting to adjust his ways because tradition means that much to him (lighthearted). Fuyu is very self reliant and prides himself in that, so it makes sense that he’d be frustrated at people who don’t take themselves as seriously—think loner raised as a gifted kid/prodigy energy.

They all feel like very petty coworkers to me, except they’re political/community leaders which makes everything more volatile pkwjdk

Either way, I do very much love the nuances in their relationships with each other. I feel like not enough people actually talk about how they see each other as independent adults rather than the bundle they come in, because it also kinda shows where the clan tensions probably started. Pettiness, damaged egos, all that kind of stuff.

Sol is basically borderline ruan mei, he dgaf, he is putting himself in 20 pounds of radiation if it means he makes a new weapon for fun. He wanted to ascend to an archon-hood through mechanical works or some shit, fucked up humanity and is working for the fatui, making them weapons yadayada for the fun of it and they allow him to.

He occasionally visits the quarters to distribute his silly little gadgets for testing (he made sure it was safe before putting to test) and thats when he met childe and they became best buddies because makes weapons x uses and breaks them and theyre both insane so it works i guess. And he learn first aid + pursuing medicine in Sumeru just so that he can tend to childe’s wounds because test subject + he cares for him.

Despite this, he doesnt agree with Dottore work ethics as he has a personal moral code for humans. He would never test dangerous things on others, he would do it on himself. (Learnt it the hard way after he accidentally lobotomized his twin brother)

He was Dr Ratio’s student to gain the elementary foundation before heading off to pursue linguistic and literature. He would earn a doctorate pretty soon after cuz he lowk a freak with languages and now he’s teaching alongside Dr Ratio too. They are not in the IPC together, but the organization that Fenrir is in often collab with the Intelligentsia Guild so basically, he’s the honorary IPC member.

Fenrir sometimes nag the doctor to let him join the Guild, even threatening with the invitation from The Riddlers (he did join them but Dr Ratio doesnt know yet)

The students under Fenrir does noticed a competitive undertone/tension between the two doctors, but not many knew about their past together. Its a funny thing. They would often compare their students achievements for fun too.

1) The gun pointed to Luka's head WONT SHOOT.

This is cause im 90% sure that this is right after blink gone. In the Patreon post, you see him smiling when he saw hyuna and I think someone points the gun at that same time. Not to mention, he also had the same MICROPHONE. All the mics for every round change, so I think thats just his initial reaction to seeing her. "but hyuna was wearing something different!" Yes, but that could have easily been on different times!!!

2) Luka will NOT Manipulate Hyuna

-Vivinos literally mentioned that "We will see how much Love Luka has for Hyuna" or something along those lines. I genuienly dont think he has the heart to manipulate the one woman he loves (as you could see from his reaction to seeing her, he literally fumbled). Instead, I feel like he would die (self sacrifice or smth) and thats where hyuna would be reminded of hyunwoo.

3) ALIVE Morse code

-I genuinely believe Till is still alive. Why? Notice how his leg didnt even go down when he "died". His earpiece fell and stuff which Im pretty sure help symbolize his heart rate(?) and mostly the leg thing. Vivinos animated the arm falling, meaning it wasnt an animator mistake. I genuinely think hes alive

-Ivantill was in the MV. They literally have 0 relation to all of them since hyuna is too busy with rebellion, mizi to sua, and luka to hyuna. "But he fought till! But Mizi and till are friends" This round is centered on HYUNA AND LUKA. Most scenes of Mizi would show her and hyuna instead. (not to mention, sua is closer to mizi than till. Dont bark at me.) 4) DEATHS

-"luka killed hyunwoo!" may I remind you that that is a SICKLY, HUNGRY MALNOURISHED BOY and he was also on the ground. "He was smiling though?" Yes. 5) Who wins and loses (ALL SITUATIONS)

-(BOTH DIE) So, if my till theory is correct, I think theres a good shot that both hyuna and Luka die. Esp since you fight with people youre close to (which in this sitiuation, mizi and till are close since till likes her and since till is mizi's last alive friend.) This would likely happen with luka dying naturally and the aliens killing hyuna instead. -(LUKA DIES, most likely!!) Luka Dying naturally. I dont think he has the heart to manipulate hyuna, and I dont think he can stumble over her again. BL8M (Luka VA) Posted the recorded lines for wiege im pretty sure and he had quite a lot, so yes luka does sing. I understand that Hyuna's stats are bigger, but shes a rebel. Aliens HATE rebels and majority of them already side with luka (As seen from ROMH cheers from the start + crowd and since he won S49). I understand that hyuna has a power (Like how she manages to get the crowd to like her) but at the end of the day, shes still a rebel. A rebel that aliens genuinely despise. Not to mention, luka has learned to manage his heart rate due to his strict owner. I think he would manage to rig the system by dying naturally like stopping his heart. After all, Hyuna IS the ruler of his heart. (and also, the aliens wouldnt shoot him since hes very much loved) Next, VIVINOS posted on their patreon that "We will see luka's love for hyuna" hinting at a self sacrifice. Luka has already also fought with mizi so its very unlikely that he will again.

-None die (Unlikely, but possible) I think Hyuna would be able to save herself and mizi, and towards the end, save luka as well. Id like to think hyuna still somewhat loves him, even if its as a friend. Yes, shes haunted by him, but they were childhood friends. Hes not the only one she has left, but hes definitely an important piece in the puzzle. What makes this likely is that they have SO SO much lore for them to show in at most, 6 minutes. Theyd have to show Hyunwoo lore, luka's lore, isaac and dewey, rebellion, Mizisua (as seen in teaser) and ivantill (as seen in teaser) meaning if they both escape, then they can easily hust jave hyunwoo, luka and rebellion lore instead of the rest. Also, I dont think hyuna can let him go again, cause that means alien stage ends with so many unfinished questions. -Hyuna dies (impossible) Luka already fought with mizi, Luka loves her too much. I think if she does die, he would end up khs instead. At Most she would die of is the fact that shes already injured.

SIDENOTE: the one official art where theyre all in coffins except mizi is the only one with eyes open. Meaning shes bound to win. Shes also the main character sooooooo

Lol, I love this theory! The Ratliffs are the kind of parents that would try to keep an adoption a secret their whole life to look 'normal' despite it being bad for the kids mental health, and they are also the kind of people who would feel embarrassed about not being able to have kids easily/at first/at all. And their fertility issues that could explain the 4+ year age gaps between then all, too.

I could totally see this coming out if Piper walked in on them, and then ran off to tattle on the parents immediately because of her strict moral code. But I can also imagine either Saxon or Piper knowing already about the adoption. If Saxon knows he'd probably bring it up in some asshole way during sex as a way to get Loch to go further. If Piper knows, I can imagine her walking in on them, puking, then saying "well at least he's adopted," before running off.

For an even more ridiculous head cannon, I can imagine Saxloch coming back in season 4 or 5 as a surprise couple, and then revealing that one, or both of them are adopted only after they've shocked the audience. I feel like that's the kind of insane shit the writers would pull, especially if saxloch got popular enough.

I am honestly surprised that the AI allows Caine to have a relationship in the future with Pomni……I had thought at first maybe red strings would pull him from her every time they tried to kiss or hold hands or smth like that……

The AI, BUBLE, is only really strict when guests(people who enter who are not trapped) are inside the capsule.  When the members (those trapped) are off the clock BUBLE doesn't really care what they do as long as it doesn't affect the Capsule negatively. In addition, BUBLE doesn't really know what a relationship is.  Not many members have actually entered a relationship with each other; meaning BUBLE doesn't have many references to what a relationship is. BUBLE’s not a malicious AI, its goal isn't to make people miserable, but to keep them working. So, as long as Pomni and Caine’s relationship isn't shown while working or doesn’t get in the way of their duties when entertaining the guests it is not in BUBLE’s code to care or do anything about it.  In fact having members being close to each other is better, as they are usually more complacent in staying trapped. 

BUT, if BUBLE learns that them being together often causes problems, actions would be taken.

Also Pomni and Caine take it very slow, they really don't show any PDA. I draw it for fun but it's non-canon.

Can we know about Atlas or Buggy Seraphim idea you have. Are they smaller than S-Hawk and S-Crocodile? What are the reactions of Buggy, Crocodile, Mihawk, and everyone else?

So I actually don't have like. A STRICT idea for S-Buggy, all in all. But what I DO have is this:

• he is, indeed, smaller than the rest. My personal thought process is that while they ARE made between cybernetics, lunarian and sourced DNA, they also have to.... idek I guess like INCUBATE. So if they got the DNA for Buggy during Impel Down, growth would be a lil closer to the rest. Still notably OFF but not quite so... teeny.

If it was only after he was named a Warlord, then I can see Atlas being visibly MUCH younger than the others.

Let's say for these purposes the current seraphim are around 10~. Atlas would be, on the older end, about 7-8~. On the lower end, he could be from 2-5~.

• he's semi or nonverbal! He either prefers to or can only speak in sign. Buggy has stints where he goes semi-verbal, and he was a late talker himself, but for Atlas it's. A constant thing. Words are hard.

• his wings are disproportionally tiny compared to the others and the tips of his feathers are white-grey.

• he wears a cat ear beanie!! Loves cats!!! Loves all animals actually. Give that boy an animal encyclopedia and he's RIVETED for HOURS

• his Haki is.... very strange. His range for Observation is outright NUTS and nobody expected to have a nonverbal cyborg baby going into a sensory overload every time he tried using his Haki. ((His abilities there are currently disabled btw))

• loves music

• kind of clingy all things considered. Atlas is real hesitant about trust but once you've gotten into his I Trust You Group, he's following you like a duckling.

As for reactions -

Buggy

• this is... it's complicated, okay? He's doing his best but seeing the kid initially gives him.... so much anxiety. On the one hand, the carefully cultivated persona he's crafted is now going to inevitably implode. It's already well past salvaging as is, but smth about having the final nail in the coffin makes his chest knot up.

• is very patient and doesn't treat Atlas any differently from any of the other seraphim. That's a kid, they're ALL kids, and Buggy's a clown - making kids happy is literally in the Code.

• he will forget sometimes that not everyone knows sign language so he and Atlas will be absolutely going HAM about something and get really confused and/or offended when someone interjects or asks what they're doing.

• he absolutely calls Atlas smth like "my little mime" or "mime of mine", and it makes people melt. Carries him ((and the others as needed)) around, usually on his hip, can and will pepper faces in kisses and swing them around to get squeals and laughter.

• mama buggy supremacy need I say more /hj

• was certainly not expecting this. Like. At all. Hawkeye Mihawk was blindsided.

• ngl was very hesitant on having ANOTHER vulnerable party on the island, especially one so.... small. His own seraphim and Crocodile's seemed so intimidatingly tiny and then this little guy just.... proves everything wrong there. Holy fuck.

• when he realizes Altas's Haki is so sensitive, he asks Buggy what he does to cope. When he finds out Buggy always just.... locked it down, he's flabbergasted. Makes it his MISSION to research oversensitive oberservation haki. His spouse and tiniest child deserve better.

• is very good with Atlas's sensory needs and winds up also encouraging the other seraphim to be more open as well. None of these bitches are neurotypical.

• if asked, he will deny getting a little choked up when Atlas, Birdie and Angel each called him some variant of father. He did though. He absolutely did.

Crocodile

• he's too big and cool and wealthy for feelings (/j). But if he did have them, he'd be extra soft with Atlas. Angel and he click due to many reasons. He and Birdie are decently close. He and Atlas are... a little different. For one, the tiny little clown lunarian is so.... well..... tiny. And quiet. He likes small, cute, quiet things.

• he spoils all of the kids absolutely, but if anyone asks, he'll gut you. Stop. He has a reputation damn it.

• considered getting an AAC book, not only for Atlas but definitely considered heavily with the kid's presence and needs.

• was a little concerned with all the little red flags from all the kids, but ESPECIALLY from Atlas - especially because he can see the red flags now in Buggy too, now hidden under layers upon layers of masking. Reptile man is doing some math here.

• sometime the world gets a little too Much for Atlas, and Crocodile will never admit to the Emotions that come up when the kid creeps up to him, tugs on his pants leg, and signs 'hide, coat?' He let's the kid take as much time as he needs and does NOT stop to think on the ramifications of being considered a Safe Place for him ((He thinks it a lot))

• the Oldest of the seraphim because he came out first so OBVIOUSLY he's the biggest and oldest. Takes his role as Big Brother VERY seriously

• weird mix of VERY protective and Cain Instinct. He'd never ever ever hurt Atlas but sometimes his baby brother is just........ so very.......... smackable.............

• learned sign in the lab a little later than the others, uses it far less, but knows most of the swears.

• complains about how ANNOYING having brothers is but if anyone else complains about his brothers, he'll throw hands.

Birdie

• still thinks he should be the oldest since he was STARTED first and only came out after Angel due to technical issues, but whatever

• still deciding on his name but is very tempted to follow Atlas's example and pick something Cool and Mythical. Is debating Avalon but isn't sure he wants to commit to the accidental A-theme they'd have going on.

• he learned sign the first after it turned out Atlas couldn't or wouldn't talk. Played it off as a useful skill to have anyway. Secretly a big softie.

• he's the type to wordlessly take Atlas's hand in a crowded area to make sure he "doesn't get lost or kidnapped", tries to play it cool but always flutters his wings that little bit more when a smaller hand holds his own just a lil tighter.

• preens the others far more, but absolutely keeps any spare feathers bc he knows Atlas likes them.

• milder Cain Instinct but he can and will bite with and without warning. Not even always aggressive either. Sometimes he just loves someone so much he just noms

• usually keeps Atlas company when he's overwhelmed and needs to decompress - he's either a cuddle buddy or a silent sentry if protection. Anyone who tries to interrupt gets stabbed

I love all the Corleone siblings, but Sonny has a special place in my heart - the only one in his family who fights for Connie for her sake. He doesn't ignore Carlo's abuse until it's expedient to do smth about it (Michael). He's bullish & paternalistic, but he won't let Carlo tell his sister to shut up. Set up against Michael's cold, perfected maleness, his "carelessness" & hot-headedness are a relief every time I rewatch the films. But also - he's the one who introduced Carlo to Connie. In that crucial final dinner scene, he's the one who tells Connie to leave the big man conversation & show Carlo the tree. I always get slightly peeved when people downplay the importance of the women in the Godfather. Kay is crucial, and Connie is crucial - the violence she suffers from a man (who her brother chose for her) is the story's lynchpin. Her marriage -> Sonny's death -> Michael becomes a Don and subsequently buries any feeling part of himself all the way down to killing his last surviving brother. I alway think of Connie's expression when Sonny tells her shush and talk to Carlo.

It's a tiny moment, but it's there & didn't have to be. The editor didn't have to cut to Connie's downbeat expression. In this moment, Sonny is acting as the head of the family. Connie does what he tells her to do. She's sweet & carefully removed from the family business. And for all her docile obedience, she's abused by the man her brother chose for her, who is then murdered by her other brother. How can she be removed from the family business when she's still beholden and vulnerable to the strict gendered codes that dictate mafioso identity? The interior "domestic" drama that the women occupy can't be divorced from the men's external violence - the two are so closely intertwined that you can't understand what the story is trying to say about Michael (and Sonny, and Fredo) without looking at how these brothers interact with their sister, who is harmed by the behavioural codes that their Family actively works to uphold.

Anyways, Sonny is an awful Don, not because he's hot-headed, but because there is no good way to be a Don. The noble, old-world patriarch, defender of women & children as represented by Vito, is a myth. Vito himself is a myth. Sonny is "careless", emotional & open, like a woman, and that's the most honorable aspect of his character. It gets him killed, but in a sense, it also feels redemptive.

kaz is this menace of a crime boss who somehow evades the bats. they mostly leave him alone nowadays bc he actually has a strict moral code ans he earned their respect by beating joker with his cane once. him and red hood have beef with each other but will become besties if they actually meet.

inej is still the dnd-rougue type of thing she's in canon but also a bit of an occasional hacker (i like modern au inej as a hacker) but she met some of the bats out of the mask because she goes to the same coffee shop where they like to study. they have no idea she's the wraith so they just think of her as this nice coffee shop girl who knows way too much gossip about the gotham elites (they think she actually might be a papparazzi) and will give them programming tips sometimes.

nina is a metahuman with bloodbending (and maybe necromancy) powers and maybe she was like. a child soldier of some metahuman secret army or smth?? immediate trauma bond with all the bats. also her group has beef with the league of assassins and this is why she and matthias pulled an enemies to lovers.

matthias is a former league of assassins trainee (never fully initiated) and instead of brum it's ra's al ghul for him now. they have to break him out of arkham instead. maybe his family was killed by metas and he has some special beef with metas bc of it.

i still haven't thinked wylan and jesper's plots properly but they'll come to me. eventually.

i know tumblr has a strong anti-tiktok bias which is entirely fair but bear with me on this

with the continued genocide of palestinian people, like every social media platform has a ton of people trying to boost content to raise money for families escaping gaza, tiktok is much the same. there’s a sight problem though; tiktok does not like people trying to boost content like that, so tiktokers have been finding ways around it. the main one is content creators starting fake beef with each other to get people hooked in for some juicy tea (which tiktok’s algorithm likes) and then hit ‘em with the go fund me link to the family they’re helping. also the watermelon 🍉 emoji has become a symbol of being pro palestine.

i think this is really cool! but it’s brought smth up that i’ve been thinking for a while in relation to how people on tumblr view tiktok. this is not hate, this is not criticism, this is just something to think about

i’ve been on tiktok since 2018 so i’ve seen a lot of shit including how the app has transformed over the years. one of these things is the growing censorship of “controversial topics” like racism/homophobia/etc. there wasn’t really much restriction on content for a while but in 2020 that changed. the black lives matter protests spread like wildfire on tiktok because news outlets we not reporting what was actually happening, or not acknowledging it at all beyond surface level shit. during that time i got information and news about the protests through tiktok users on site at and participating in protests because we just couldn’t trust any major news outlet (and honestly even some tiktok users with large accounts).

the censorship started to really take off because tiktok didn’t want those kinds of videos gaining traction, and did not want people organizing through the app. there are any number of reasons for this, but it’s not really relevant. regardless of why, tiktok started suppressing or removing videos that have the “problem words” in them (including comments). some of these “problem words” are: death, kill, names of any drug, boost, comments mentioning boosting the video to raise awareness of something, etc.

over the years tiktokers have adapted to this, from substituting letters, using similar but disinfected words (like the famous “unalive”), and even speaking in code to get around the increasingly strict content moderations. some examples are: “gardening” instead of smoking weed, k!ll, di3 (and other l33tspeak), 🔗🌲 instead of linktree, etc.

the problem most people have with tiktok users is when they’re outside tiktok. a lot of the criticism of these people is definitely valid, but the extent has always given me a little pause. a lot of these tiktokers that people make fun of the behavior of are children and teenagers. they tend to be chronically online, have very little conception of privacy and online barriers, form parasocial relationships, etc. this stuff is all true, but why?

these kids have spent a huge chunk of their formative years interacting mostly online because of covid. theyve been dunked headfirst into the internet in a way that has really damaged their social skills, hence them being called “chronically online.”

my point here is to just get people thinking about tiktok itself in addition to its users. its users are the way they are because of the platform they’re on, and tiktok as a platform itself fucking sucks. we all know twitter (i’m not calling it x) is a dumpster fire, tumblr staff sucks, facebook is, well, facebook, you get my point. the absurdity of the censorship on tiktok shouldn’t be overlooked.
