Have you had a personal experience with both J2? I am considering going to a con or experience for the next run and I trust you to detail any experiences and realistic advice for those interested. I can be critical where it is deserved, but I still adore them. You quite literally couldn’t have aired a show for fifteen years without talent. I do have moments where I’d dislike how much hellers are pandered to, but that show is embedded into the grooves of my brain due to is familial and supernatural exploration. It’s easy to see my sibling and I in the two and I’d really like to appreciate that firsthand. They are loyal and delivering actors when it comes to showtime. And let’s be honest, they’re gorgeous.
They are both gorgeous but they also each have something that goes beyond beauty. They are each different and special in their own way. Cryptic is where I’ll stay because some things just can’t be shared in this fandom.
As for advice, greet them with appreciation, actors love the energy they receive from fans/admirers. Be grounded and appreciative. Share why they move you and how they inspire you. Ask them deep questions without invading their personal life. Stick to their performances and potential casting possibilities, stick to storytelling and catharsis through the arts. Help them expand their Universes. Be yourself and be vulnerable and most of all, have fun. Be lighthearted because this world needs more light!
Since that halfwit Danneel declared Ivana Chubbuck dead on the Drama Queens Podcast, I thought I might empower you with an exercise on how to create emotional chemistry. Go back to your childhood, visualize and viscerally relive the first moment you felt alone, heartbroken and powerless, then, if you can from a distance that’s fine, if not just close your eyes and imagine looking into the actor’s eyes and see that same pain experienced by them, they understand you because they’ve lived that same heartbreak, thank them in your mind for being a friend and for understanding, hug them in your mind while feeling that commonality of pain, then let go of everything you are feeling, let go and focus back on your experience, be it on set, stage, convention etc. Let me know how they respond! It’s magic, I know! Have fun! 😘
Here’s the exercise from the book Danneel claimed to have read but is clearly clueless about.
Tumblr media
Fun fact, one of Ivana’s students went to an Adele concert and used this exercise. Adele approached and hugged the man, she was in tears. Okay, you’ve been given power now, use it wisely and responsibly!

Lan Wangji Goes To Lotus Pier AU: Part 3: Enveloping Feelings.
(Part 1, Part 2, Part 4)
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan wangji#Yungmeng Jiang training arc AU#I wanted to try out a different paneling style for this one - sorry I'm a day late! (there will still be a post tomorrow to keep on track)#The original 3 panel comic idea was fine but the point of this new schedule was to take time to push myself a bit more.#I was taking a look back through some comic artists I felt inspired by#and I really loved how Lynda Barry fills her gutters with patterns and doodles!#Obviously I'm not going as absolutely wild with it as she does but it was a great exercise!#I truly think the gutters are the most important and most overlooked part of any comic. There's lots going on in that space.#It's the same with timeskips. The implied movement between moments that we don't see changes depending on how wide that gap is#You're here for the funny tags so here's some that ties this time talk together:#I think LWJ was thinking about that second note from day 2 but it took him 7 days of hazing to commit it to paper.#I think he sends it a day later and immediately regrets it. Chasing down the messenger and everything.#You know if something actually happened to his brother he would never ever forgive himself for putting the bad vibes out there.#Third time skip was the hardest because there was so many possible flavours of jokes here. Day 8/9 was a personal favourite.#day 14 was also funny (week by week). I think the debate on 'how long does lwj take to catch feelings' is more or less:#'how long does it take for him to arrive at a particular stage of grief and yearning (and awareness of it all)#This is a symphony. There is an act by act structure. Every day he is fighting to keep his old sensibilities. He is losing so badly.#(I'll be returning to the main comic soon but there is more of this AU to come!)

I think one of my favorite things to do as a voice actor is playing one character, but with the voice of a different character , like if a character's voice is magically changed, and it's a completely different voice, but all of the little mannerisms and the way that they speak, from their dialogue to the way that they dictate their words, is still completely the original character.
Which is why I stand by the fact that body swap episodes where the voice actors also switch are cowardly and shameful.

hii! i hope youre having a nice day, and thank you for chapter 125! i was wondering if, by any chance, you have a compilation of all the credit pages you typically put at the end of each chapter? i love reading the extra info or translation notes you sometimes put at the end and i saved a couple of my favourites that i thought were really interesting, but i never thought mangadex would get nuked </3 i was hoping to find your credit pages in the gdrive folder but i couldnt find them :( thank you!
AWWWW IM GLAD SOMEONE ENJOYS THEM 🥹🥹🥹 i do spend a good bit of effort coming up with something interesting for them
also i deleted the ones before 115 off my pc at some point to free up storage space (bc i was saving them as pngs and they were taking up 10mb each LMAO ive since switched to saving as 200kb jpegs lol)
so i had to go to manga sites to scrounge them back up LOL
anyway theyre now uploaded to the gdrive enjoy o7 (ch 90 to 125)

Can you share more acting exercises?
I’d love to! Did you experiment with the one I shared recently? If so, please feel free to share any results you may have had.
Here’s another one:
Substitution is an acting technique, often associated with Method Acting, where an actor uses their own real-life experiences and emotions to inform and deepen their portrayal of a character’s emotional life. It helps actors make a scene feel more personal and truthful.
At its core, substitution means replacing the fictional circumstances of the character with a real event or person from your own life that evokes a similar emotional response. You're not pretending — you're remembering and re-experiencing something meaningful to bring authenticity to your performance.
Example:
Let’s say your character is grieving the death of a parent. If you've never lost a parent, but you’ve lost a beloved pet or experienced a painful breakup, you might substitute that experience to access genuine sadness or grief.
Fictional situation: Your character’s mother just died.
Real-life substitution: You remember the day you lost your childhood dog.
Result: The emotion you felt in your own life colors your performance, making it more real and immediate.
How to Practice Substitution:
Script analysis: Understand what the scene is about emotionally — what the character wants, feels, and fears.
Identify a similar real life emotion: Find an experience from your life that evokes a similar emotional response.
Make it specific: Recall concrete details — smells, sounds, faces, places. The more specific, the more powerful.
Use It in rehearsal: Bring that emotion into your performance — not by forcing it, but by letting it influence your internal life.
Stay grounded in the Scene: Don’t let the memory overpower the story. The goal is to channel, not relive.
Cautions:
Not all memories are safe to revisit. Use substitution carefully and with awareness. I’m serious, I’ve seen actors retraumatize themselves by using their past trauma.
Some actors find it effective; others prefer different techniques like imagination or physicality.
Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler had differing opinions on substitution. Strasberg emphasized it as central to Method Acting, while Adler believed the imagination was more powerful than personal memory.
I think a well rounded actor should be using a mix of both imagination and real life emotion but I guess it really depends what an actor clicks with most. The thing about using substitution is you risk regurgitating the past and thus the performance becomes about you, if you mix in imagination now the character can truly live through you even if your own emotion is the catalyst. What do you think?

OK, I'm seeing posts about this pop up on my dash again, which means it is once again time for The Talk.
Imagine, if you will, that you are just getting established in your career. You don't have a lot of money, but you meet a guy who offers to help you out. He has connections that could help you move up in your career, but he's really only willing to provide those connections if you start up a sexual relationship with him. He continues to hold these connections over your head in exchange for sexual favors and manipulates you into believing that this is the only way you'll ever succeed in your career. You feel dependent on him. You feel trapped. It takes years to finally break free of this toxic relationship, but even after leaving, you carry around the trauma of that experience.
Some time after this experience, you see a silly little cartoon about a guy who's just getting started out in his business. A wealthy man with lots of connections reaches out to this character and offers to help him with his career... in exchange for sexual favors.
You might feel uncomfortable, which is valid. You might feel triggered, which is valid. You might hate that relationship from day one, which is valid. You might never want to watch that show again, which is valid. You may continue to watch the show in hopes that the character you identify with gets a chance to say "fuck you" to the other one, and that's valid. You may be very disappointed when that moment never comes and the show takes the relationship in a completely different direction than you were wanting or expecting, and that's valid.
It's NOT valid to project your relationship onto the show's characters and pretend like that interpretation is the only valid interpretation of the show and the characters. It is ESPECIALLY invalid when canonical depictions of these characters and relationships directly contradict the interpretation and are substantially different than the relationship you are comparing them to.
So when someone yells at Viv because they have projected their own trauma onto a similar, but substantially very different situation in one of her shows, it's not Viv's job to coddle them or to simper and apologize. When she says that it's totally fine for them to feel like that, but they should recognize that they have a wildly different interpretation than many other fans and that the way they are interpreting her show appears to be lacking in basic media literacy, she's not wrong and she's not out of line.

Forgot to add, you can use that chemistry exercise on family, friends and even the cashier of your supermarket. You’ll be surprised! The exercise I shared is used by actors but can also be used in real life to create commonality of pain and therefore emotional chemistry.
