YASASHII NO DE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE CAME IN 20 PULLS……………….. ……… ….. …. . … …. .. .. . . … . .. . .. . . . TRULY YASaSHii OF YOu, GOOD SiR 😭
***Crowley Groovy, chibi sprite, lesson lines, and vignette spoilers below the cut!***
Unfortunately, we do not get any more details on his profile. It’s the same as the profile he had before the update. Age and birthplace unknown, 185 cm tall, favorite food is wild game, and his hobby is vacationing.
SDFHEGYOGYFQEN;jkhaCWIDODB A LOT OF CROWLEY'S LINES ARE VERY CHILDISH OR GOOFY... Like he has one where he complains about Grim eating his snacks, tells on students who are sleeping in class, and gets distracted by shiny objects (which, I guess, is par for the course for a crow).
Crowley cannot attend Alchemy class and does not have Chats. His Buddies are Deuce, Vil, and Grim (with Grim being his Duo Magic partner). Deuce and Vil are interesting choices, I wonder why those two in particular... (Some friends and I were memeing earlier about how "all those characters have single parents so Crowley must be a single parent" and, "Vil is the Evil Queen and Meleanor is a princess of evil", etc.) Crowley can, however, attend the other lessons and it’s every bit as awkward as you think it is. (He has a pre-lesson line where he expresses surprise taht he has to do homework 🤡)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE CROWLEY DOPPLEGANGER ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE 💀 He can just straight up run into a clone of himself during lessons… THE DEVS KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING, they even goofily have Crowley say, “Oh! Hello, me!” while the other Crowley is in class for the special lesson… THEY KNEW HOW DUMB THIS WOULD BE 😭 (The dialogue states the Crowley that barges into class is a magical projection…?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are some of his chibi sprites, as well as his Groovy candy. Crowley is not only very yasashii, but also very cute!!
He does, in fact, have vignettes but they are unvoiced. The first part is him running an assembly with the dorm leaders present. Crowley discusses the health of an adolescent apple tree in the school's courtyard, and no one seems to be interested in his speech. Malleus barges in late and, in a fit of anger at having not been invited, starts unleashing lightning. Wow, just like how Meleanor shoots lightning at Lilia... Like husband, like wife/j Everyone retires to their dorms, leaving Crowley to deal with an upset Malleus. The second part features Crowley having lunch with the other staff members (Sam included!). Each staff member is eating something different (Vargas is of course having eggs), and Crowley is revealed to have a great appetite in spite of his age. Crewel and Trein wonder how many decades old Crowley is, since he was apparently still headmaster when Crewel was a student and when Trein started teaching at NRC. Finally, Crowley is walking down main street and spots Yuu, Grim, and some mob students skipping class… so he uses his Lash of Love to discipline them! He binds everyone together and proceeds to drag them back to class. (It was surprising, we haven’t seen the Lash of Love since like… what, the prologue? I almost forgot about it.) Crowley alludes to the fact that even though the students joke about him, he is actually a very powerful mage that shouldn't be taken lightly, you know?? The vignettes end with Crowley referring to his students as "apple trees" that he is nourishing and watching over as they grow, which rounds us nicely back to the apple tree he mentioned in his first vignette.
BUT ANYWay HEREmS thE GROOviY in JUICy DETAIL INkjoW YOU WERE ALL WAiTING FOR
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s so pretty AaAAaaaaaaaAAAAAAAaaAaaAHHHHH 🥺 His grotesquely detailed hand reaching out to the viewer, who appears to be awaking from within a coffin… and do I have to mention the parallel between Crowley here and the mysterious hand that is offered to us in the mirror at the very beginning of the game????? Which could imply that Crowley is beckoning/summoning us into another world... The dim room, light spilling onto the Mirror of Darkness… So atmospheric!! If Crowley knows how to do one thing well and consistently, it’s drama~ The Groovy totally reminds me a lot of the prologue when Crowley tells Yuu to go before the mirror to get sorted. Omg guys... He's posted like Masquerade Malleus/j
One detail I super appreciate in this illustration is that you can see the dorm leaders in the background! If you squint, you’ll realize that there are 5 of them posing exactly like how they are in the following promotional artwork:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one without a matching pose is Idia, who is present via his tablet. Though… I feel like we’re forgetting something 🤔 … Eh, I’m sure it’s nothing, nothing at allllllllll~

A Pair of Eggs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My boredom had reached a new peak, causing me to return to binging Korean dramas. And the roulette called my mind eventually directed its ball towards a peculiar title - "Alchemy of Souls".
I've only ever consumed the typical - romance, comedy, and all that so I tried to brace myself a bit before starting it.
And from the first episode on, I was already hooked before I realized it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dynamic between Jang Uk and Cho Yeong cements the series as something that will never leave my mind.
Leaving the comedic bits aside, the way their relationship develops into the way it does just feels so fluid. It thoughtfully considers details that have already been established.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A prime example is Uk's stubborn and impulsive nature, which is already seen from the first scenes with him, and that of Yeong's, who is menacing and irascible in comparison, given that she WAS just an assassin before shifting souls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From their rather sudden and random sparks of intimacy to the way they each warmed up to one another's company, and the eventual acknowledgement of their feelings, all while never changing who they truly are - two stupid, obstinate, and silly idiots. I just love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second part or season (?) was okay. It provided the viewers more details on the profundity of their relationship and it was nice to experience.

Anyway, never change, you pair of eggs

forgot to keep you guys updated on my fmab rewatch but every night i'd go back to my hotel room and watch until i fell asleep and here are my thoughts:
i didn't appreciate how fuckable 99% of the men in this show are the first time i watched it
i love those dumbass brothers more than my own life
i like that they never actually try to explain alchemy in a comprehensive or realistic way. they just go. "it's science magic!" and the viewer goes "okay!" .. respect honestly
it's so good and every person on earth should watch the series at least once

Why do you headcanon fiddleford as transfem?
Thanks for the ask, anon ::) ♡
To answer: I don't, necessarily.
I've just always found scientist characters to be quite trans-coded. I love the idea of experimenting on oneself and altering ones own body, both in a divine alchemy and in a body horror way. Trans people are just so cool, haha! Ford and fidds could be trans in any direction they wanted to, and I'd eat that headcannon up, I don't care, so long as they're not cis XD
Plus, being trans myself, I find it enjoyable to project that onto characters. Even since I was younger, I liked to project onto Ford and genderbend him and shit as a means to explore my own gender. So, when I'm drawing him now that I've figured myself out? It feels almost obligatory that he needs to be transmasc. And, you know, while I'm at it, I may as well make Fidds trans too.
Although, I personally envision Fidds as more agender. ヽ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ But even then, I don't think he really knows (or cares) about modern labels. At the end of the day, he's just him, and he wouldn't want anything more. He'll transition how he wants.
TLDR: genderbends, AUs, and headcanons are a tool for viewers to experiment with and explore new identities through characters, or create a character with whom they can relate to.

I know that this might be a very weird question, but do you have any headcanons for glukkon religion?
Absolutely not a weird question at all—in fact, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about Glukkon religion and how it evolved (or devolved) alongside their rise as industrial tyrants. Here’s my headcanon:
Glukkon religion in the current age isn’t so much about faith as it is about control. It’s become a convenient tool. Weaponized spirituality—used to justify the unjustifiable. It masks corporate greed, and rewrites history. Much like in certain real-world regimes, religion for the Glukkons is a smokescreen; an ideological tool for Industrialists to make their conquests/destruction/exploitation seem ordained or even righteous. While most Glukkons don’t actually believe anymore, they’re more than willing to pretend they do if it protects their interests or absolves them of guilt in the public eye.
Historically, though, it was a different story. Before the Schism, Glukkons were genuinely spiritual. Deeply invested in alchemy and mysticism. Sought cosmic inquiry. They weren't always the soulless industrialists we know today. They coexisted with the Mudokons, who themselves were spiritually revered advisors, like Tibetan monks in a medieval theocracy. The Glukkons had their own form of spiritual pride—rooted in alchemical tradition and secret knowledge—until the Mudokon Moon appeared, of course.
The Schism was a spiritual breaking point. The Mudokons’ declaration of chosenness upon seeing their species’ mark in the sky, even though they at no point declared themselves superior, still deeply humiliated the Glukkons. Their failure to refute this caused them to abandon the clear sky and any pretense of humility (glukkmility?). That’s when they fully embraced their alchemical practices and became the “Enclosurists,” walling themselves off from both literal nature and metaphysical truth. Their religion didn’t die—it was buried, commodified, and ultimately turned into propaganda.
(Putting some concept art here from Steven Olds, which shows Glukkon(or Oldger as they were called at the time) dressed in ways that highlighted their practices in alchemy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even now, vestiges of that old faith remain. Alchemy still exists in Glukkon culture, though it’s largely symbolic—used for product names, branding, corporate sigils. Think of it like how modern society treats Greek mythology. Aestheticized, fictionalized, decontextualized. Brewmaster from Soulstorm is a great example btw—he practices alchemy privately, but it’s taboo, something the general public considers to be a relic of a forgotten past.
Then there's the Priest concept art for Oddworld by Farzad, which I think is incredibly telling.
Tumblr media
This monstrous preacher, with soooo many eyes, clearly could see the sins of Industrialists but deliberately chooses not to. It’s the perfect metaphor for an Industrial religion; a faith that once demanded introspection and accountability now exists only to absolve the powerful. This character seems like a satire of religious hypocrisy, confirming that maybe at some point Industrial religious institutions once had weight but now function as merely hollow theater. Their god(s), if they still have any, are just mirrors that reflect back what the elites want to see.
So, I think Glukkons absolutely have their own versions of televangelists. Maybe they're Sligs, or Chroniclers. Maybe even Vykkers, especially if they're demanding donations from viewers to fund their churches. They go on airwaves and spout sermons about how "divine will" justifies monopolies, worker exploitation, and planetary destruction. They claim that wealth is a sign of divine favor, and poverty or dissent is a spiritual failing. Poorer Glukkons who can’t climb the corporate ladder likely do turn to religion—but it becomes a trap. They end up donating what little money they have to their faith and winding up as street preachers, barking sermons no one listens to, or as scapegoats for corporate failures.
Some industrialists likely push this narrative further, declaring that the Mudokon natives (who are still vibrant and deeply spiritual) are practicing “black magic” or “dangerous cultism.” It’s a clever inversion; those who maintain true spiritual practices are demonized, while the false prophets on TV claim moral high ground. It’s fear-mongering, pure and simple. If the Mudokons are seen as spiritually deviant, then their enslavement becomes not only economically justifiable, but morally necessary in the Glukkons’ twisted worldview.
In sum, I think modern Glukkon religion is an illusion. It’s a marketing strategy, a shield against blame, and a tool of control. It reflects the collapse of their ancient spiritual identity, hollowed out by vengeance, capitalism, and/or fear. The faith that remains isn't about gods or truth—it’s about preserving power.
However, I do also think that Glukkons do still have active alchemical cults, or "brotherhoods", that are reserved for the rich and powerful. But i'll get into that another time. Wink wink

In my mind, you can pair red flags in two ways, 1. Pair two red flags or 2. Pair red flag with someone who won't let them be a red flag anymore. Which is not "I can fix them with love" but more, "I won't let them get away with that if they want to be with me"
Moon in the Day, Alchemy of Souls, The Atypical Family, & The Double all pair red flags with other red flags. Who cares if one side of the pairing is murderous, they're both murderous! They'll do murder things together as a couple. Awwww, so cute. (not everyone on this list is a murderer but you get it)
Then you have one-sided red flag but the other side can handle it, which includes Doom at Your Service, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, The Forbidden Marriage, and What's Wrong with Secretary Kim. Most of these relationships have intense outbursts of jealousy, to which the other partner is like, "No, I don't like that stop it," and then the other side stops. Maybe not an ideal relationship, but I don't feel worried as a viewer.
You could argue that Alchemy of Souls falls into the latter category as well, Jang Uk isn't that much of a red flag but Naksu definitely is one, but he can handle that and he does very much understand the risks of hanging out with her.
I mean it's fiction, but if I'm watching someone really unhinged in a relationship, I want to feel like there is a good balance at least.
Edit: if it's a tragedy, then the pairings can be unbalanced and fall into The Horrors, but what I don't like it Red paired with Green and then pretending it would turn out fine. Nope.

THE ALCHEMIST | 1663 | by CORNELIS PIETERSZ BEGA
This painting is set inside an alchemist's lab. It depicts everything: all the equipment, vessels, and materials that are associated with alchemy. Without a doubt, this piece reflects how much interest there was in occult science during the Golden Age.
Cornelis Pietersz Bega was a Golden Age painter, best known for his genre works and portraits. Like many of the dutch Masters, he was greatly influenced by the work of Rembrandt, which he reflected in his use of chiaroscuro and great attention to detail.
Bega moves the viewer's eye through the cluttered laboratory rather successfully and points out what the alchemist is doing. Intense use of light and shadow gives much depth and drama to the scene, which naturally heightens the mystery of the ambience.
Starting from the symbolic elements, typical for almost all the alchemical art- a presence of the flasks, apparatus for distillation, and arcane symbols-all this represents the alchemist's thought about his quest of transformation, his pursuit of hidden knowledge.
It is Bega's attention to detail and the realistic capture of textures-from that of the roughness of the stone to the metals of the different instruments-that give such a degree of realism to the painting.
People were already so interested in alchemy in the 17th century and thus, "The Alchemist" manifests the very same thing. This piece is also a satire of the vain quest of the alchemist whose work clearly shows the contrast between scientific inquiry and pseudoscience.

Sex Love Lit girlies! I watched Crash Landing On You (my first k-drama) and now I have a conundrum: A) I want to watch more k-dramas, and B) No k-drama can seem to measure up to CLOY 😭 Could you put together a playlist of entry-level k-dramas for new fans that capture the CLOY magic? Bonus points if they’re on Netflix
@sliceoflifegirl thanks for the ask!
(Corinne here) First of all, welcome to KDrama land! Crash Landing on You was my second ever KDrama, and the one that really got me hooked. I’m gonna be honest, it’s a hard one to top when you’re mid emotional hangover! That said, I love this ask and recommending KDramas to people, so I’m more than happy to recommend some. My strategy here, rather than recommend something that exactly mimics CLoY (because imo, there’s nothing exactly like it), is to recommend dramas that I think are some of the best of their genre—with some aspect that might help scratch that CLOY itch ;) So, without further ado, here is your KDrama Starter Pack:
Goblin aka Guardian: The Lonely and Great God—This fantasy romance is a classic for a reason. The set-up: 900+ year old goblin Kim Shin is on a quest to find the goblin bride to pull the sword out of his chest and finally let him die. The catch: when he finds goblin bride Eun-tak and starts to fall in love with her, he wonders if there might be something to this whole “life” thing after all. Also featured: a glum Grim Reaper, with whom Kim Shin has a top tier bromance, who has a doomed romance of his own. Goblin gave me one of the biggest emotional hangovers post-CLOY in my early KDrama days. One caveat: Kim Shin meets Eun Tak when she’s in high school, so if huge age gaps in fantasy romances give you the ick, maybe give this one a pass (in which case the fantasy romances I recommend checking out instead are Alchemy of Souls and Doom at Your Service, both on Netflix atm). (On Viki)
Tumblr media
Mr. Sunshine—My pick for one of the best historical (aka sageuk) KDramas out there. Set in early 1900’s Joseon, just before/in the early days of Japanese occupation, this drama follows the lives of five equally compelling characters as they navigate the political turmoil of the time. At the center are Lady Ae-sin, an aristocratic lady with a tendency for dressing up as a man and sneaking around at night on missions for the rebels, and Eugene Choi, an American Marine now stationed in Joseon who escaped enslavement there as a child and has mixed feelings about the land of his birth. This one resonates with the forbidden/doomed love of people from different classes and cultures from CLOY. (On Netflix)
Tumblr media
Reply 1988—This slice of live drama set in Seoul in 1988 follows five families who live in the same neighborhood, and especially five of their high school aged children as they grow up during a particularly vibrant time in South Korea’s recent history. Like the other installments in the Reply series, the series uses two of the main characters in the present day (or present to when it was released, anyway) looking back—which means that viewers know the Deok-sun ends up married to one of her four besties, but which one?? Still, while the love triangle mystery is fun, at its heart, this story is about community. It’ll scratch the CLoY itch for the North Korean market lady shenanigans, and a few others as well (especially if you like intense yearning in your dramas). (On Netflix)
Tumblr media
Business Proposal—If you’d like romance of a completely different genre than CLOY, look no further than Business Proposal! In this KDrama, Shin Ha-ri goes on a blind date in place of her friend as a favor only find out that the date is with her boss. This tightly plotted romantic comedy plays with more rom com tropes than you can shake a stick at, but never sits with one so long that it gets old. The B couple is also fire, and helps move things along whenever the A couple gets into a rut. This drama also features some chaebol (rich business family) shenanigans a la CLOY.  (On Netflix)
Tumblr media
Extraordinary Attorney Woo–If you’re in the mood for a workplace comedy/drama, look no further than Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Featuring the incandescent Park Eun Bin as rookie attorney Woo Young Woo, this legal drama features about a case per episode as Attorney Woo finds her way in the world alongside a delightful main cast of characters. (On Netflix)
Tumblr media
Little Women—My choice for the makjang to include on this list (a genre in which extreme storylines are treated very seriously), this drama focuses on the three Oh sisters as the oldest finds that her friend who died under mysterious circumstances has left her 70 billion that a powerful political family will stop at nothing to get their hands on. Will the story always make complete sense? No. But will the stellar performances, fast-paced, genre-mixing drama, and wild cliffhangers keep you on the edge of your seat as you binge the whole thing? Absolutely. (On Netflix)
Tumblr media
Extraordinary You—Youth dramas may or may not be your thing, but if you have the patience for the shenanigans of high schools, Extraordinary You is my top pick. In this fantasy romance, Eun Dan-Oh discovers that she is actually a character in a comic–and she’s not even the main one! While still high school appropriate, Eun Dan-oh’s literally doomed-by-the-narrative and impossible circumstances romance with Haru, another side character, is another one from my early KDrama days to stick with me just as much as Yoon Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeokk’s. (On Viki)
Tumblr media
Search: WWW—Ayanni’s particular contribution to this list, this modern romantic drama focuses on intersecting lives of three women working in the fast-paced tech industry at the top two competing web portal companies. Just as interesting as each woman’s various romantic entanglement are their entanglements with each other as they put their careers ahead of just about everything else. Ayanni says she especially appreciates this one because it focuses specifically on three women (also in this genre are Be Melodramatic and Because this is My First Life).

Hey, long time no see. Hope you're alright and just taking a break. I really miss reading you and your opinion. Feels like the fandom is getting quiter and quiter. Don't know if people are moving on or just waiting for "positive" news. Which we hadn't in .... years I guess.
I’m here 🙃 I just pressed pause on answering asks for a while. I wish the show were in the hands of someone with good story instincts, who loves the characters individually as well as the relationship they have with each other. Someone who respects their audience and writes for them, to entertain.
Out of all the different kinds of writing, TV is the genre where ego doesn’t have a place. There have been a number of showrunners who’ve ruined their own shows out of spite because the audience had other ideas of what made the show good or reasons why they watched in the first place. DarDix isn't a novelty in that regard, but it always baffles me.
When you tell stories on TV, they’re not really your stories, even if you wrote them and it’s your name in the credits. You might come up with the premise and the characters, but there’s an alchemy that happens in the process itself. The actors, directors, set dressers, costuming, etc., they all imbue a little bit of magic to the finished product. But, mostly, a show live in the hearts of its fans.
TV writers need to nurture the symbiotic relationship they have with the viewers.

TV’s number one crime-solving nun is back in action—and will be celebrating the holidays this winter.
Filming has started, in and around the Cotswolds, on the fourth series of the BBC Studios drama Sister Boniface Mysteries, created by Jude Tindall. It will air next year on BritBox International and on UKTV’s U&Drama in the UK. It has also been announced that the show will return for another feature-length Christmas special this December, written by Tindall and directed by Paul Gibson. See photos of Lorna Watson, who plays Sister Boniface, on the set and in the Christmas special above and below.
“It’s brilliant to be back with the gang for series four,” said Watson in a statement. “I feel very lucky to be part of such a lovely show and can’t wait to get cracking, solving crime in the Cotswolds sunshine.”
Tumblr media
Gary Moyes – Courtesy of BritBox
In addition to Watson as the Vespa driving, crime-solving, Catholic nun, also returning are Max Brown as DI Sam Gillespie, Jerry Iwu as DS Felix Livingstone, and Ami Metcalf as WPC Peggy Button. The Series 4 guest cast includes Les Dennis, Katherine Kingsley, Martyn Ellis, Mina Anwar, Ed Birch, and Daniel Laurie.
The Christmas special features the Great Slaughter Amateur Dramatics Society (GSADS) pantomime. This year it’s Cinderella and with the appointment of a celebrity director the pressure is on to deliver their biggest and best performance yet. Rehearsals begin, but soon cast members start dropping like flies. Can Sister Boniface catch the killer before they strike again? Will GSADS give the public the festive theatrical treat they deserve? And, most importantly, can Sam and Felix pull off a polka in a pantomime horse?
Also coming up in the series, a bucking bronco goes haywire on the set of a game show, a killer scarecrow stalks the streets of Great Slaughter, the Scottish invade, a femme fatale drops to her death in a stunt gone wrong, and CC Lowsley (Robert Dawes) has arranged some team building. Meanwhile, Reverend Mother Adrian (Carolyn Pickles) is keeping a secret, and it could tear the Sisters lives apart.
“I’m thrilled that TV’s favourite forensic nun is returning for a fourth series. The alchemy created by Jude, Lorna and our wonderful cast and Midlands crew continues to delight viewers worldwide,” Neil Irvine, Executive Producer at BBC Studios said. “This series sees a serial killer on the loose at the Christmas Pantomime and a threat to the convent itself. I can’t wait for the audience to find out if this is the end for St Vincent’s…”
Sister Boniface Mysteries is made by BBC Studios Drama Productions as a co-production for BritBox International and UKTV. The script producer is Dawn Coulson-Beckett. Executive producers are Neil Irvine for BBC Studios, Stephen Nye and Robert Schildhouse for BritBox International, and Claire Hookway for UKTV.
