a seemingly small but actually crucially important thing about anime ren's characterization i didn't like is that he was not at all hesitant to enter the metaverse with ryuji when it's a critical character moment for him that he super super is. at the beginning of persona 5 he is defeated. he doesn't want to fight anymore. he wants to let the adults shove him down in a little box and become a perfect little member of society. being convicted broke him.

it's not until his awakening that he admits to himself that saving that woman was not a mistake, and he chooses to keep the will of rebellion alive in his heart by choosing to stay and save ryuji, even if his soul be damned for it. that moment, and every moment after when joker continues to choose to rebel, does not hit the way it should without first establishing that he is incredibly close to giving up entirely, and without finding ryuji, he probably would have.

Ngl it really peeves me when the debate about Jason's ethics regarding killing in the batfam mixes up the question of him being a moral character in regards to sticking to his own philosophy (aka compromising with what he thinks is right to salvage relationships, but also exploding trains to evade capture, killing random goons in a gang war, etc) and the question of him being a moral character in regards to whether his philosophy is right. And even with regards to his philosophy there is his philosophy on politics, crime control and harm reduction, and his ethical philosophy itself (utilitarianism, aka focusing on intended positive consequences of actions for the greater good rather than the action being fundamentally moral or immoral in itself). Those are different things. Those require different debates and should not be conflated together. I'm not even saying Jason is right! I think utilitarianism and deontology both suck and fail at providing sufficient guidelines for moral behaviour. ("Everybody still loses" like the nihilist clown says. The symbolism of that one scene is pretty cool on that regard.)

And I think some people at dc would very much like for you to make the connection that because Jason is harming civilians/killing unnamed goons, he is a bad person, and as such you don't need to examine the way his stance on moral philosophy (utilitarianism) opposes Batman's. But that's not right, they don't get to wiggle out of the fact that utilitarianism vs deontology is a complicated debate that has been going on for ages, that there is no clear-cut answer where Batman fundamentally comes out on top, they don't get to use the fact that Jason (in the era currently discussed) is a villain to saddle us with a false dichotomy of "well jason is wrong about stuff so batman has to be right" to avoid addressing the actual question. The traits of the people being tied on the tracks do not change the shape of the trolley problem. The traits of the person deciding to pull the lever do not change the shape of the trolley problem. It's still one lever, three people tied on one track, one on the other, do you pull the lever. That's it. Yes, bending the metaphor to address other questions (such as "who keeps tying people to the tracks" to question systemic violence or "how does my bias, my prejudice and empathy impact my decision to pull the lever depending on who is on the tracks") are interesting but that's not what the debate is about. If I wrote an essay about the trolley problem in high school and focused primarily on the nature of the people being tied on the tracks, I'd get a big fat zero with "off-topic" written in red all over my essay, so I'm not inclined to allow DC comics to get away with it.

I simply Could Not resist drawing their Bill in this ridiculous incredible and very fashionable pink feather dress, even though he only briefly wears it in their fic, so I also did a little bonus doodle of him in his standard hoodie to make up for it. XD (Also, as far as I'm concerned, Bill and Mabel were both correct in that lime green accessories make the dress Much Better.)

Morro and Cryptor in the movieverse, in my style? More likely than you think:

My first ever take on the movieverse and it’s designs and it had to be this underrated duo.

Scenario: Morro and Cryptor have geography class together, and they’re both four days into their first week of school. Having barely shared two words with each other, let alone anyone else in the school, the two are paired up for a project. To make a volcano. Despite the two judging each other heavily, not getting along at all, constantly arguing and butting heads, they both rushed into the classroom covered in paint, paper, tissue, cardboard, and pearls. And then the entire class was covered in ketchup after the volcano accidentally blew up. They got a d- and got put in detention. From that day on they were known as horrible a*sholes you should never be around, unless they try to murder you.

In reality they would only try murder each other and are actually awkward teens with everyone else.

Ain’t got much for Morro’s story in this verse other than the fact that instead of running away he was sent over to train and learn under Mystake, only for her and Wu to realise he has no social life at 17 and so they send him back to Ninjago city to go to high school for the first time.

But Cryptor in this AU’s got a bit. Cryptor is a scrapped version of the Nindroid sentries that protect Borg tower. After Pixal, Borg wished to create Nindroids who could protect him and his tower from danger, and Cryptor was one of his prototypes. Cryptor was not supposed to have a consciousness, but as the only Nindroid sentry prototype that was based off of both Pixal’s code and Zane’s design, he came to life. After waking up seemingly abandoned in a scrap yard Cryptor runs off feeling betrayed and angry. Eventually, he gets taken in by this world’s overlord. Not entirely sure how he works in this universe yet so all he is rn is Cryptor’s rlly bad guardian who updated his design to what it is now.

After some drama yada yada, Cryptor joins the school as the only openly known Nindroid. He and Morro joins at the same time and do not get along, yet they only ever hang out with each other because villains who were generals of armies in another life just kinda click.

Willll probably add more to this explanation and maybe photos of the sketches and such later when it’s not 6am and i can see the sun rising. Oh also the background was not made by me it’s a free to use photo on Ibispaint X.

Can you imagine finally declaring yourself independent after 300+ years of struggle, and suddenly these bunch of new guys who promised to help you fight your colonizers is now your new colonizers but insist that nah, your relationship isn't like that, we're actually buddies! but you're not allowed to use your flag or use your language; the people who fought for your independence were either killed or captured...

Essentially though, Felipe and Alfred's relationship iafter the Philippine American war was full of distrust and passive aggression, mostly on the side of Felipe. Meanwhile, Alfred is really doing his best to be the best "boss" there is, trying to be empathetic to Felipe by using the fact that he was a colony (under Arthur), but that just made their relationship worse until the outbreak of WW2.

Now, modern day Felipe and Alfred are genuinely friends.

Breakfast Surprise

For the amazing @steddieas-shegoes! Happy Birthday! This is only my second fic in the fandom but the prompt inspired me and I was bored at work, so here you go! I hope you like it!

He wakes up to the sound of Britney Spears, which all things considered, is not how he wants to wake up on his birthday. But then again, there was a time when Eddie didn’t think he’d reach his 21st birthday, let alone his 33rd. So he can deal with the Princess of Pop.

But that does raise the question; who is playing music this morning? The obvious answer is Steve, because duh, who else? But since it is Eddie’s birthday and since Steve did say he had a surprise, Eddie is inclined to act like a detective and give in to the silliness. He gets up out of bed, his hip twinging a little like it does on colder mornings, and makes his way towards the kitchen. The sound of Britney gets a little louder, as does the sound of talking and laughing. The visual he gets when he finally reaches the doorway of the kitchen makes him wish for a camera.

Steve is pouring pancake batter onto the griddle, glasses on and yellow pajama pants low on his hips. Livy is standing on a stepstool, dropping chocolate chips onto each pancake, her small hands dropping each one with intense concentration. She’s got her Cookie Monster nightgown on, the little ruffles swaying as she dances to the song playing. The morning sun is coming in through the window, bringing out the blonde in their hair, and the rays of light draw Eddie’s eyes towards an empty coffee mug on the table, with Robin’s usual lipstick stain. While he’d love her to be here too, Eddie knows she had to go in early for work.

Steve and Livy still haven’t noticed him, content to sing slightly off key and flip pancakes. He’s about to say something, maybe ask where-

“You’re supposed to be in bed.” A little voice pipes up behind him, causing Eddie to jump.

“Holy shi-sh-shhh! You scared me.” He flounders, looking down at Ellie who looks far too exasperated for her tender age of 4. It’s frankly adorable and the way Eddie’s heart expands at the sight of her scrunched up face honestly makes him worry a little. His heart’s been through a lot, could it handle the stress? Ellie reaches for his hand and pulls him fully into the kitchen.

“Daddy spoiled his surprise. He got out of bed.” She announces to the room. Livy jumps down from her stool and runs towards Eddie, extending her arms up. He gladly grabs her and spins them around, peppering her face with kisses.

“I couldn’t help it! I smelled breakfast cooking and knew I had to investigate!” He laughs as Steve sets the table with breakfast. Ellie pulls out a chair, standing on the seat to raise herself higher. Steve picks her up to make it even. The girls are very concerned with things being even right now, so both men would rather go along with it than cause a fight.

“Happy Birthday Eddie.” Steve says quietly, leaning over to give him a soft kiss. The girls in turn each kiss Eddie’s cheeks and Eddie can’t think of a better breakfast, a better morning, a better birthday.

The biggest reason I'm a Fuuinjutsu Master Iruka truther is that we know the canon reason Naruto is given Kakashi and later Tenzou as teachers is because they're two of the only people who could potentially deal with him should the fox start leaking out of him. Jiraiya quite literally was always meant to take Naruto under his wing - even ignoring the godfather thing - because he had the Fuuinjutsu knowledge needed to modify the fox seal and keep the thing contained

So there is absolutely no way Hiruzen and the elders would've given this kid to Just Anyone to teach. Iruka had to have been some kind of Seals Expert to be entrusted with the jinchuuriki and that's genuinely what I think Kishimoto was originally setting up with his "hiding his real skills" and "could have jounin or ANBU in his future" databook entries. 100% tinfoil theory that Iruka being Naruto's teacher was for the same reason Tenzou was given the role later

sam and dean's disillusionment with mary throughout s12 and how for dean it happens almost instantly when he feels rejected the first time she leaves and how sam maintains a hope that she just needs time but she'll eventually come back just like he did but then she reveals that shes working with the british and sam cant even bring himself to say the words torture and he stumbles over his sentence and just alludes to their "history" with them because how do you bring yourself to even accuse your own mother with allying with the people who tortured and mindraped you and you see in dean's eyes (mary's "dont give me the face") that she isnt there to protect them either and its still just him and sam and it always will be
