Today I learned that the mysterious food kanji 献立 is こんだて (kondate), the word used for my kids school lunch and various other things.

Mystery solved. Only took me 15 years to learn to read this word.

I just had a DPxDC crossover idea that I thought was funny.

What if every time John Constantine sold his soul he was basically agreeing to being “adopted” by the entity he was selling his soul to.

He thinks all of the entities he sold his soul to are leaving him alone because they’re too busy fighting/have a truce to not fight as long as none of them claim his soul, meanwhile he’s got like a dozen or so ghost/demon parents ready to go to court to fight for custody when he finally dies.

Danny, having been taken in as a ward by an older ghost since he technically counts as a baby ghost until he’s 100 or something, meets Constantine for the first time and is like: “Why are you 1/15th my brother?”

Bonus points if Danny is technically the big brother in ghost terms because he’s been a ghost the longest. Sure Constantine may be a little liminal but that doesn’t count he doesn’t even have a death day yet.

Like:

Danny (Certified little shit): “Baby brother why do you never come to dinner? :(”

Constantine, too sober for this: “The fuck did you just call me?”

Constantine vehemently denies any relation but they bicker like siblings.

A fun fact: they actually DO have printing presses!

They don't seem to have moveable type - although I bet a dwarf will invent it any day now - but in DA2 Aveline threatens to confiscate Varric's printing blocks, indicating that they have block printing.

In early modern Europe this technology was often used to produce pamphlets, including popular crime stories! (And, yes, smut.) Varric's work would fit right in.

While in historical Europe moveable type and block printing were largely developed side by side (with block printing used as a cheap alternative for shorter and more disposable work) there is no reason the two technologies have to be invented at the same time. In China wood block printing was in use for centuries before they came up with moveable type. (Which was of limited use to them, since the local languages use ideograms instead of an alphabet. Now here's a good question I don't know the answer to: does Thedas have an alphabet?)

As for mass literacy, the huge variety of letters and diaries scattered around the world written by everyone from kings to merchants to shepherds and beggars seems to indicate that literacy is at the very least a LOT more widespread than it was in early modern Europe, if not universal. We don't know a lot about the education system (which no doubt varies widely across the continent anyway, not to mention whatever the Qunari are doing) but perhaps the Chantry encourages people to read?

AU: Where Sukuna Wins

Imagine an alternate universe in which Sukuna triumphs, dominates over Japan, and endures a lonely existence for many centuries, while allowing some humans to live.

They hold a grudge against him, of course, and want to kill him. They train at Jujutsu High and have some great fighters that occasionally provide Sukuna with some entertainment. 

They are so desperate for salvation, they can only find solace in prophecies about a figure with powerful blue eyes that will defeat the king of curses and rescue Japan.

And do you know what Sukuna does in response to that? One might expect him to go full Pharoah mode and kill newborns, but NO!!

HE DOES THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE !!

Whenever he ravages a village and devours the women and children, he ALWAYS spares the blue-eyed infants.

All the curses know better than to kill an infant with blue eyes. The last time a curse did that, Sukuna made sure to make an example of it.

Killing a member of the Gojo clan is also off limits, as well as anything that could delay the reincarnation of this certain person.

These humans are not the only ones waiting for salvation.

Sukuna is also WAITING...for his wretched existence to end at the hands of this person.

The ONLY one worthy of having the honor to do so.
