(softly, but with feeling: YESYESYESYES)
also I want to keep this reblog addition but also @enchantedmerry's tags:
#it's the fundamental conflict of how to respond to a situation where someone's mental health is so bad they're actively harmful#to themselves and the people around them#how do you discuss accountability and responsibility in circumstances where you can't trust someone to not hurt themselves#and they start lashing out at the people close to them with full knowledge that they are going to cause those people pain#it comes up a lot with vm but it's very concentrated here#scanlan shorthalt#cr1#critical role#cr1 spoilers#cr meta (x)
so, not to be insane about it on main again but a bard’s lament is one of my favorite episodes and i really think it’s gonna happen this season so i’m just gonna get into it again.
so, i like things that are emotional and messy and difficult because they can be incredibly human. and a bard’s lament is one of these things! however, i also think there’s, a lot of times, a sort of inherent misunderstanding about what is actually happening there. and to be fair, i think it’s totally natural to misunderstand on instinct and that’s kind of the point.
it’s easy to get caught up in what scanlan’s saying because sam delivers it all so well, but i think what gets missed a lot is why scanlan is actually saying it.
i think most people’s instinct is to say ā€œoh it was vox machina’s fault for being bad friends, they reacted poorlyā€ and ā€œoh it was scanlan’s fault for only ever lying or joking when they questioned himā€ but the thing about situations like this is that both things can absolutely be true. no one won in a bard’s lament because no one ever wins in a situation like that.
scanlan was in a situation where he says most of what he says because he’s in an absolutely awful place mentally. everything has been building up and has lead to this exact moment and it was a perfect storm of across the board miscommunication and emotions and confusion. he says things that he knows will hurt the others because he’s angry and embarrassed and deeply depressed and the safe thing for him to do in that moment, in his head, is to push everyone away.
and yeah, vox machina react somewhat poorly to his outburst but at the same time why wouldn’t they! they were terrified they were going to lose their friend and now they also feel extraordinarily shitty and guilty and they’re faced with a reaction that none of them have the tools to handle. depression is an extraordinarily powerful and immensely illogical force sometimes, so yeah! scanlan said stuff about situations that he was interpreting in the WORST possible way and yeah the group didn’t know where to put that. so it’s not really about them not knowing his mother’s name. and it’s not even fully about the pudding or the prank. it’s about how it, to him, reiterates what he feels about himself. that he’s embarrassing and useless and no one really cares about him. BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES IT SUCH AN INSANE PIECE OF RP!
because logically, of course they care about scanlan even if they aren’t perfect at showing it. there are MULTITUDES of examples of that! but scanlan doesn’t care about scanlan right then. and not much can get through that level of self loathing in that moment.

MBTI typings + analysis of weak hero class characters
disclaimer: this analysis would be based on cognitive functions, so please don't tag this post with "why is he an e, he should be an i" or something like that. please read about cognitive functions, it's life-changing.
and this is my personal observation and analysis, so i'm not claiming 100% accuracy. but i have been studying mbti typology for 5 years, and i believe my hyperfixation on weak hero characters is strong enough to offer an interpretation that's atleast in the right ballpark. feel free to share your own opinions, though.
yeon sieun — INTJ (Ni-Te-Fi-Se)
Tumblr media
INTJs lead with introverted intuition (Ni), which means they're constantly absorbing patterns and projecting outcomes. that’s essentially sieun’s entire combat strategy. he fights with foresight, not force. his brain is always several moves ahead, calculating silently before acting. he also has auxiliary extraverted thinking (Te), which makes him prioritize efficiency. this explains why he’d rather stab someone with a pen and end the fight cleanly than try to brawl with someone much stronger than him. it's just more efficient.
INTJs have tertiary Fi (introverted feeling), which acts like a quiet internal moral compass. it’s always there in the background, nagging him. it's not loud enough to dictate his decisions, but still present in case he changed his mind. that’s why he hesitates to help juntae at first. not out of apathy, but because the voice in his head keeps getting suppressed by his dominant intuition, which keeps telling him to mind his own business. it keeps warning him of the consequences of getting involved. however, he takes action when he finally listens to his tertiary Fi telling him, you know it’s the right thing to do.
his inferior Se (extraverted sensing) makes him inattentive to his physical environment unless it directly interferes with his internal world. he's never interested or notices people around him, unless his peace is disrupted. a blatant example of this is when he completely misses seongje showing up at suho’s hospital. he doesn’t register what's happening around him until it directly concerns him.
he’s also emotionally private (typical INTJ trait — they don’t like performing vulnerability). sieun is more expressive in his unread text messages to suho than he ever is face-to-face. it's a classic Ni-Fi wall: he feels deeply, but processes everything internally, where no one can touch it.
ahn suho — ESTP (Se-Ti-Fe-Ni)
Tumblr media
ESTPs are sensor-thinkers, grounded in the present and driven by logic. suho’s dominant Se (extraverted sensing) makes him highly reactive to his environment. he only intervenes when he senses something is wrong; not out of moral obligation, and definitely not out of concern for consequences. his instincts are fast, physical, and attuned to danger. we see this in his professional fighting skills (MMA trainee and all) and athletic abilities. it's also obvious in the way he expresses love through action, taking on tiring jobs for his grandma without complaint, teaching sieun how to fight. it's a classic Se expression of love: fixing, serving, fighting, guiding.
his Ti (introverted thinking) is what makes him sharp. he’s logical and objective, but not necessarily fair, because he's not led by morals (which doesn't mean that he doesn't have morals at all, but it's not the driver of his decisions). he's loyal to who he cares about, not to any sense of abstract justice. like how he’ll go to hell and back for sieun, but won’t extend that same energy to everyone (this can be backed up by sumin pd, who pointed out that unlike baku, who protects the whole school, suho only protects sieun. baku has a higher moral compass, as a high Fi-user, but more on that later). his humour is also very Ti-coded; dry, clever, and often rooted in logic ("how can you talk about food while eating?" "you talk about life while living it").
tertiary Fe (extraverted feeling) gives him just enough charm and emotional fluency to read a room, crack a joke, or comfort someone. but it’s also fragile. he gets defensive fast, especially when misunderstood or unfairly blamed (like how he gets physically aggressive when beomseok starts beefing with him for no reason). weak Fe makes him take criticism personally and lash out emotionally.
he also has inferior Ni, which means his intuition is weak, and he rarely thinks ahead. like when he gets into gilsu’s car without a solid plan. he improvises well (texting sieun from his watch), but forgets to consider that gilsu could check his phone too.
personality-wise, sieun and suho are actually a lethal pair in combat. sieun has the sixth sense of an Ni-dom, while suho has the reflexes of an Se-dom. but romantically, they’re lowkey doomed. a tertiary Fi and tertiary Fe pair. neither are good at emotional communication. both express love through action and protection, not words.
oh beomseok — INFP (Fi-Ne-Si-Te)
Tumblr media
beomseok runs almost entirely on introverted feeling (Fi), a deeply internal moral compass that tells him this is right even when it objectively isn’t. healthy Fi stands for staying true to your values and beliefs. unhealthy Fi becomes a justification engine. and beomseok's Fi has been warped by years of trauma. that’s how we go from offering to pay suho to save sieun from bullies to wanting to destroy suho for betraying him. he does what he feels is just. the line between good and evil becomes how do i feel about it, and the trauma twists those feelings into something darker.
his Ne (extraverted intuition) gives him imagination and ideas, but unchecked, it creates spirals; overthinking, projection, paranoia. like how he starts believing that suho and sieun were replacing him with youngyi.
tertiary Si (introverted sensing) makes him cling to what’s familiar. that’s why youngyi’s addition to their group unsettles him: she disrupts the group dynamic he’s grown attached to.
his inferior Te (extraverted thinking), the logic function, is like a faint alarm bell in the back of his mind, whispering this won’t end well, but Fi drowns it out. he knows best. or thinks he does.
youngyi — ESFP (Se-Fi-Te-Ni)
Tumblr media
youngyi leads with dominant Se, paired with Fi — which means she lives in the moment, feels things deeply, and owns it. she’s unapologetically herself, unbothered by rejection, which is exactly the kind of ability that gets her to befriend someone as guarded as sieun. she isn’t intimidated by anyone. she's grounded in the present, quick to act, and physically assertive, often responding to situations with bold, instinctive energy.
what sets her apart from suho (who's also an Se-dom), though, is that her actions aren't filtered through detached logic (Ti), but through a strong internal value system (auxiliary Fi). she doesn’t analyze her choices with practical calculation, she feels her way through them, led by what resonates with her personally.
but Fi also governs identity. so when beomseok accuses her of ruining the group, and essentially causing suho’s coma, it doesn’t just sting, it shatters her. she doesn’t just feel attacked; she feels like her sense of self is broken. that's why she disappears from everyone's lives, because how can she face sieun, when she can't face herself? that’s the danger of Fi: when it internalizes blame, it takes everything personally.
park humin (baku) — ENFP (Ne-Fi-Te-Si)
Tumblr media
ENFPs are chaos with a conscience. and baku is no exception. baku’s auxiliary Fi makes him emotionally honest and morally anchored, but his dominant Ne keeps his mind in motion, always bouncing between possibilities, fears, and imagined futures. that’s why he hesitates to fight again (because what if it ends the way it did with gotak?) but when something triggers his core values (Fi), when someone he loves is in danger, he acts out. consequences be damned.
he jokes around to defuse tension, but he's deeply intuitive, emotionally attuned, and cares more than he lets on. it’s why he’s one of the only people who can get someone like sieun to open up; not by forcing it, but by simply being emotionally available, non-judgmental, and real.
while his high Fi gives him access to vulnerability, it also acts as a strong boundary. he refuses to work with baekjin, despite his history with him, because it violates his sense of right and wrong, because baekjin brutally hurt gotak and ruined his career, which is unforgivable. he only crosses that boundary when threatened and forced.
baku’s tertiary Te is blunt, explosive, and reactive, especially under stress. it acts before planning. when stressed, he grabs for Te, takes charge, punches first, thinks later. his Fi follows his own moral compass. he refuses to fight and preaches non-violence. but when people precious to him are hurt, he almost chokes a guy to death.
seo juntae — ISFJ (Si-Fe-Ti-Ne)
Tumblr media
juntae is the emotional backbone of the group. ISFJs are built to nurture, and his Fe (extraverted feeling), paired with Si (introverted sensing), makes him deeply attuned to others' emotional needs. he notices sieun skipping meals, withdrawing, and not sleeping. his Si gives him observational memory; he tracks patterns and changes, then responds with quiet care.
he’s the only character with strong Fe in the whole cast, which is why he's the only one who genuinely hates conflict, and is the peace-maker of the gang, readily resolving misunderstandings and arguments between his friends. Fe also gives him strong empathy, which is what makes him slow to judge. he can easily read tone and emotional behaviour. it’s why he doesn’t believe sieun when sieun lies and says he doesn’t want to be friends anymore, because he knows it’s not true. he’s the one who tells both sieun and bakugotak that the other doesn’t mean what they’re saying.
Fe + Si makes him the one person who understands without demanding. he’s the first to tell sieun, "it’s not your fault," not because he thinks it’ll help, but because he knows it will. and yet, he holds grudges. because Si doesn’t forget. that’s why he refuses to forgive hyoman, even after he joins their side.
go hyuntak (gotak) — ISTP/ESTP (Ti-Se or Se-Ti)
Tumblr media
this might be a controversial take since gotak is often typed as an ISFP, but i see a strong mix of Ti and Se in how he operates. i'm still unsure which one leads, but what’s clear is that he’s an active, physical, and analytical thinker. he’s impatient, yes, but also deliberate. he observes, processes, then acts, like when he tells juntae to escape before counting opponents in the underpass fight with seongje, or when he decides to fact-check the rumor that sieun wants to fight him instead of reacting right away.
his Se is undeniable: he’s aggressive, athletic, and always grounded in his body. even after quitting taekwondo, he stays physically engaged, taking up basketball, aggressively skipping rope despite his bad knee, because ā€œhe has to do something.ā€ that’s textbook Se: movement as expression. like suho (another high Se user), gotak communicates care through physical action; teaching juntae to fight, teaching sieun how to play basketball, physically lashing out when hyoman insults baku, or breaking into the union garage when baku disappears, even though sieun asked him not to. he acts because he has to: Ti wants clarity, Se wants momentum.
but what truly leans him toward xSTP is his low Fe. His emotional communication is clumsy; he needs baku to prompt him to apologize or say thanks. His Ti strives to stay calm and factual, but his emotions; protectiveness, irritation, and loyalty; simmer just beneath the surface. he doesn’t judge quickly (a sign of Fe-awareness), like how he defends sieun from trashy gossip despite a rocky first impression of him. still, like suho, he lashes out when he feels misunderstood, like when he says cruel things to sieun during their fallout. And with low Ni he rarely thinks far ahead; breaking into the garage wasn’t a plan, just Ti-logic and Se-impulse running full speed.
gotak is a head-heart-body kind of character. he’s loyal without needing to say it, perceptive without being flashy, and thoughtful in a language that often goes unnoticed.
geum seongje — ENTP (Ne-Ti-Fe-Si)
Tumblr media
this is really the easiest one to type because seongje is a textbook ENTP: chaotic intellect.
dominant Ne makes him erratic, unpredictable, and dangerously flexible. he's constantly probing, experimenting, and testing limits. people are like a puzzle to deconstruct. Ne is the function that gives you the skill and urge to explore multiple possibilities, which explains how seongje can justify switching sides mid-fight if it feels fun. he'd join his enemies, then betray them for the punchline.
his tertiary Fe doesn’t function like suho or gotak’s, who pair Fe with Se. while suho and gotak are highly reactive and defensive over them/their loved ones being insulted or misunderstood, seongje’s Fe is more detached. he treats insults like jokes ("is it fun playing na baekjin's minion?" "it is fun. i get to beat up losers like you.").
his Fe makes him socially aware, but it's not a strength, it's weaponized. he understands emotional tones, social roles, and twists them to provoke or entertain. he mocks sincerity (like how he laughs at gotak over his protectiveness for juntae) but still craves attention and reaction (feels hurt because baekjin didn't ask him if he was okay after fighting with sieun).
so ENTP makes seongje unpredictable, perceptive, and always a step ahead.
na baekjin — ENTJ (Te-Ni-Se-Fi)
Tumblr media
baekjin, as an ENTJ, is essentially a more dangerous, volatile version of sieun. he's smart, strategic, and ruthlessly efficient; a master planner who relies on his introverted intuition (Ni), to forecast outcomes and his extroverted thinking (Te), to execute them with precision. to baekjin, efficiency isn’t just useful; it’s everything. he doesn’t waste time on what feels good or what’s morally right, only what gets results.
but his inferior Fi (introverted feeling) means he lacks the internal framework to process emotions authentically. he struggles to recognize emotional nuance, both in himself and in others, which leaves him disconnected from his own vulnerability. that’s why, instead of just saying ā€œdon’t leave me,ā€ he orchestrates emotional hostage scenarios (like threatening to hurt gotak) to keep baku close. it's twisted, but, to him, weirdly efficient. and in baekjin’s world, effectiveness often replaces intimacy.
he knows what works, not what's right. he weaponizes logic without empathy. and you can’t out-think him, because he’s already seen your next ten moves and calculated exactly where you’ll land.
baekjin uses control and intelligence as a shield, mastering manipulation to avoid vulnerability.
so that ends my analysis. if you need a detailed analysis of a specific character, have contrary opinions, questions about mbti, or need any clarification, then leave me an ask!

If you had to score each enha member out of ten, how would you score them when it comes to how well they'd survive in a zombie apocalypse? The people must know!!
OH THIS IS SUCH A FUN ASK !!! tysm anonnie for this but for starters this is a fictional scenario and does not represent them as people!!
heeseung : okay hear me out.. i think he could make it if it isn’t an off day and he’s feeling very motivated. however i think when it comes to very extraneous activities he’s gonna tap out and the zombie apocalypse might be one of them so overall im giving him a 6/10 but he is not surviving because he doesn’t have a single survival bone in his body šŸ˜“ i feel like he’d be done when he eats random berries not knowing they’re poisonous
jay : HE IS SURVIVING!!! and no i am not biased. first of all jay is a smarty mcsmarty pants so he would think both logically and physically. obviously he’s strong and he can fight so i dont think hes lacking in that department but it comes down to the fact that he’d put others before himself so if he was with someone else he’d sacrifice himself for them, thats the only scenario i believe he doesnt survive but other than that hes making it so i would give him a 10/10
jake : i feel like jake is so overlooked bc he’s so silly but he is like so smart, i think he has what it takes to survive. i also think unironically he’s like so prepared for this like have you see how passionate he gets in the enoclock games. he is DEDICATED to surviving and i believe in him fully. i just think his only downfall would be like maybe boredom?? LOL.. but i think he’s making it out so another 10/10
sunghoon : oh he’s making it and then some. i think what would motivate him most to make it out alive is that he wouldn’t have to do all this shit again yk HSJDD. sunghoon seems like the type of person who doesn’t think about these hypotheticals so he’d be a little unprepared BUT luckily he has his strength so that would help him out a lot, again i feel like sunghoon is one of those people who would sacrifice themselves for the greater good so with that i’ll give him an 8/10
sunoo : this baddie heol don’t ask him to fight zombies that’s not his job he’s not built for this šŸ˜•.. JK i think his brains would help him out a lot in terms of literally surviving instead of fighting but i think at some point when it comes to the fighting he will be beat by a zombie …… sorry sunoo. HE GETS BONUS POINTS FOR BEING THE BRAINS IN THE OPERATION THO !!!! i’ll give him a polite 3/10
jungwon : oh this overprepared king. he’s thought of every possible outcome and then some. literally has zombie apocalypse survival kits and everything like those tiktok slideshows (please tell me someone remembers). on top of that jungwon is super duper smart and he’s strong so that doubles his chances of making it out alive. i think he is one of those people who actually thinks abt these things. hes making it out with ZERO scratches and a will to live 100/10
riki : lowk i hate to say it but i don’t think he’s making it very far…. šŸ’” like yes he has the strength to do so but honestly he does not care. i feel like he’d would see a zombie and yk kill a couple but at some point he’s just gonna let them take him bc he’s tired of this bs 😭 also he’s a RUNNER like he will run as fast as he can and as far away as he can from those zombies before he actually has to face the consequences so. unfortunately he’s getting a 4/10.. A for effort though

Day 6 - Prompt: Obstacle @jegulus-microfic
December Daily Series - 476 words.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
James blinked rapidly as he watched Regulus walk away. He touched the bridge of his glasses, then trailed his fingers over the arms. Regulus had positioned them perfectly on his nose after cleaning them.
He shouldn’t be surprised, really. Everything Regulus did was intentional and precise. James doubted he ever acted on impulse. He could almost see the calculations in his eyes.
Sirius affectionately called his brother ā€œneurotic,ā€ but James envied his organised mind. The ability to cultivate his thoughts into a plan before acting on it was a brilliant skill. James rarely considered consequences, let alone prepared for any obstacle that he might encounter.
ā€œJamie!ā€ his mum called, waving from the car park.
He jogged toward her with his jacket flapping wildly in the wind. The crisp seaside air was refreshing after an entire day spent driving up. James had to cram his six foot frame into the centre of the backseat just to stretch his legs out.
ā€œHey mum, are we ready?ā€
ā€œI think so! The boys left their skates in the car and I have yours.ā€
They planned to visit the local ice rink for open skate. Regulus and Sirius took lessons as kids, so they agreed immediately. As soon as they climbed out of the SUV, Regulus’s lips twitched into a fleeting smile. He clutched his joy tight to his chest like a child with a new toy, as though he expected to have it ripped away at any moment.
Regulus whispered to Sirius as they tugged on their skates, then nodded solemnly at his response. It was nice to see them getting along. Their confrontational relationship confused him, but Sirius assured him that it was normal for siblings.
ā€œProngs, let’s race!ā€ Sirius announced, pulling the guards off of his blades.
ā€œSure. Are you joining too, Black?ā€ James asked as he hopped over the boards.
Regulus shook his head as he shrugged off his coat and removed extra layers. ā€œI’d rather not. I’ll stay in the centre, I think.ā€
ā€œSuit yourself.ā€
James kept pace with Sirius for three laps, his longer stride making up for any deficiencies in his speed. Sirius still won, of course, but it was still fun to expend his pent-up energy. As they slowed to a stroll, his attention drifted to centre ice where Regulus skated backwards in slow, elegant figure eights.
His fitted black trousers and shimmering collared shirt reflected the rink’s lights beautifully. Every turn and skip was flawless. Regulus made it look easy.
ā€œImpressive little shite, isn’t he?ā€ Sirius said, nodding. ā€œHe could have gone pro.ā€
ā€œWhy didn’t he?ā€
ā€œBecause he hates to lose. If he isn’t 100% sure that he’ll win, Reggie usually won’t take the risk.ā€
The logic was sound, even if James didn’t relate to the sentiment. Life without risks sounded tedious, even if it looked lovely. And Regulus always looked lovely.

100 days are UP!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently I REALLY wanted to press on, and thus, here we are
I didn't go too horribly fast at least but anyways, I'll at least pause for a bit of reflection before I continue on.
I have so much I need to untangle............
...if this really was the end, it sure would have been massively underwhelming- that is, if Eito's motive was just being a huge ecofascist- well, misanthrope mainly. Which I still think he is, but it's kinda... strange, since he seems to care for nothing in the world except gratification, not even justice or hell, even revenge. He's got some Junko element to him- like, everything was shite from the day he was born, and he was aware of it, but the way he describes it really made it seem like something was very wrong WITH him as well
(And that something is, what he really hates about Takumi...?)
Also despite the fact that nigh my entire party died in the assault against Eito's final form (except for Gaku!! He's saved my skin a few times now, good boy), I'm not entirely sure what's up with his special power besides summoning a bunch of Invaders. Which is kinda commander like, I suppose? Hold that thought, because Commanders and humans are said to be very similar- my early thoughts were that a human could become a Commander, rather than vice versa- my further thought was that it was Rejection Symptoms that caused a human to become a Commander
(Which is why I was a bit- no, a LOT- thrown by Moko basically just being a copy.............. that threw that theory out of the window, at least as far as Moko was concerned. Ngl, I was disappointed, but then I realised I would be redoing the 100 days- I already knew this, so I figured that whatever was going on with Rejection Symptoms and their consequences would come up in subsequent timelines)
Anyway, Eito's special skill has something to do with fortunes?? Which, I wonder if the Redo ability winds up affecting it, Madoka Magica style. I have a suspicion that Takumi's Cryptoglobin isn't the only thing that's going to be affected, given 'ghost boy's warning. Eito's may well be affected too, maybe Kako's as well- then again I don't know if the seer thing has anything to do with cryptoglobin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It sure is funny to me though, how Takumi has had this time-reversal ability ALL THIS TIME, and no one outside of him - and Sirei, naturally - has ever known about it. At least, I don't think he's even mentioned it, even passingly. What happens on the battlefield stays on the battlefield I assume, but that is so fucking weird. It's meta in a whole other way. Definitely going to be making note of this
Even more weird is when it came up in the main story THAT A COMMANDER HAD A SIMILAR, WEAKER ABILITY. I can tell this was here in part to foreshadow the Big Redo, but now I think of it... how was Takumi reacting to this, yk with having a FULL Redo ability?! I don't think I even paid much mind... what the fuck?!
Okay heads up for the Danganronpa stuff next hahaha
HOOO BOY
Tumblr media
THIS IS GIVING END OF DR2 AND V3 VIBES BOTH AT ONCE. One, about the 'making your own future', and as for V3, well... that's theory. That is- the ending was a bad one, something that they reached because they missed out on some critical information, as well as someone sabotaging them from within. Only, Hundred Line seems to have taken this theme to its next logical step:
GET THE NECESSARY INFORMATION TO UNDO A BAD FUTURE!
Tumblr media
Good luck with that by the way, Takumi. You'll need it...

I’m gonna wait to see the special before drawing any more finale conclusions but for the moment everything we got from the leaks is just so… weird? and nonsensical?Ā
So the only reason why our Marinette didn’t turn evil was because of Alya. Which contradicts everything TA and his team have been saying about abuse. Why does Alya being a positive influence for Marinette works but Audrey being a negative influence for ChloĆ© doesn’t? They had Mylene say, ā€œHaving a bad mother doesn’t justify your actionsā€ so neither should bullying. The lesson with Chloe is that abuse is ok and children that turn out ā€˜wrong’ because of it should just be left alone with their abusers because they somehow deserve it by not being able to turn out perfect on their own. Why shouldn’t the same logic apply to Emonette and Emodrien? (I believe they’re the names the fandom’s been using but I’m not sure) You’re being bullied? Doesn’t matter. You shouldn’t lash out and become evil. It’s 100% on you now. Like seriously, am I missing some piece of information here? If I am please correct me! Because as of now it just doesn’t make sense to me. The lessons TA wanted to teach its fans is that sometimes people are just bad and no amount of tragic backstory justifies their actions, but every single choice he’s done from season 3 is just proving over and over that this logic only applies when it’s time to diminish Chloe. Chloe is 14 and has decided to be evil. Emonette and Emodrien are 14 have decided to be evil. ā€œBut they tried to show Chloe the right path and she didn’t take it, she’s evilā€ Gabriel seems to be a good father in the other universe, so shouldn’t be this the same for Emodrien as well? How did he even end up being a ray of sunshine with an abusive terrorist father but ends up being a villain with a good father? How does that even work? I really hope there’s more to the special because if they’re really going for the message that somehow Gabriel’s abusive parenting was a good thing for Adrien… I’m going to scream.Ā
Tumblr media
Like, I understand the story they were going for with Chloe. Unfortunately, it's true that some people don't change. But then they began stating that she's not an abused child and it's not the influence of her mother that made her this way, it's just that she's Evilā„¢. And her "consequences" ended up being more abuse. It's so fucked up.
And you're exactly right about Chloe being exempt from the justifications and explanations that the rest of the cast receives. Emonette gets to commit terrorism, and all this can be explained away by her having been bullied by Chloe, but Chloe isn't influenced by her mother's abuse, oh no, she's just born evil and is unworthy of change! The Chloe equivalent of Emonette's story would be for her to be sent back in disgrace after committing all her crimes to be bullied by Chloe some more, but you just know that ain't gonna be how it goes down. The characters are going to downplay Shadybug and Claw Noir's crimes, offer them compassion and insist that they are good people, and they're gonna get off scott-free. And of course, Emonette wouldn't deserve more bullying as a consequence, and that's the truth. But apparently Chloe's deserved ending is more abuse? It's horrid.
And the Gabriel-Adrien implications are a step further into the abuse apologia category. I just wrote a whole post about it, but you're right on the money about the implications. And I really think that's what's going to be portrayed, unintentionally or not. It sucks.
Thank you for your ask!

Prim caught a cold almost instantly after that night. The chill in the air and my decision to not even attempt a fire, for fear I’d burn us alive, quickly led to a fever, watery eyes and a pink, runny nose.
It was like my every fear come true. I had no healing instinct. Not like my mother, who had been taking care of the sick and ailed since she was old enough to read a medicine book. Not like Prim, whose lamblike nature hid a strength most grown men lacked in the face of pools of blood and mutilated flesh.
I was my father, through and through. I was a hunter, not a healer, and I didn’t have the first clue how to help my sick little sister, who cried because she felt so awful and couldn’t move from the bed because she was so weak.
My every action, my every thought and move, became frantic. As if I could hear a clock ticking within me, I had no time for logic or reason. I couldn’t think anything through, I could only act on instinct. Running around like a chicken with its head cut clean off, I only had my intuition to guide me.
I screamed and hollered at my mother, who refused to look me in the eye, who wouldn’t so much as meet my terrified face as I begged her with everything left inside me, with every ounce of fight I still had, to get up and do what she did best. To get up and heal Prim and end this nightmare I’d accidentally brought upon us all.
I laid on the ground before her bedside in a sobbing heap and pled for her to save my little sister if it was the last thing she could ever do. Even if it was the last favor she did for me, her own daughter, in this lifetime I would be grateful to no end.
But she didn’t budge. And eventually I had no other choice but to turn to the final option that still remained.
I didn’t even bother wiping my tears or cleaning my face or so much as putting on a coat. I quickly kissed Prim on the forehead and promised I’d be back soon, that I would get her the help she desperately needed, and then I marched myself straight to my uncle’s house in Victor’s Village.
To say he was surprised to see me would be an understatement. To say he was happy to see me would be an overstatement.
He was still quite put out with me for weaponizing his wife’s near death against him. And at eleven I wasn’t young enough or sweet enough to be so easily forgiven. I knew what I was doing when I brought up the poisoning and I knew I would have to eventually deal with the fallout.
But I didn’t have time to make amends right then. I quickly peered around his body to find Lenore Dove, to make sure that she was there too, and then I blurted out my predicament in an unintelligible rush.
ā€œPrim’s sick! She needs help! My mother can’t-or she won’t help her! But she’s really sick! Please, come on!ā€ I grasped Haymitch’s hand in my much smaller one and tugged, the desperation I’d tried so hard to stifle down dripping from my every word. ā€œPlease, Uncle Haymitch! Help her! Auntie, please!ā€
And just like that, on the turn of a dime, they did exactly what I had wished for my mother to do for weeks. They snapped into action.
Haymitch threw on his jacket and raced ahead of us towards the Seam, while Lenore Dove ran to the bathroom. I frantically followed behind her, watching as she dumped half their medicine cabinet into a bag and then on her way out hastily ripping a blanket off the back of the couch and tossing it over my shoulders before slamming the door in our wake.
ā€œWhy have you been avoiding us, Katniss?ā€ She asked, as we hurried down the cobblestone path back to my home. Evidently I wasn’t going to get off the hook with my aunt and uncle so easily. ā€œWe have been going to the school nearly every day but you always manage to evade us.ā€ That’s true. Lately I’ve been pushing Prim and myself into the thick of the crowd as soon as the bell rings, knowing Lenore Dove and Haymitch would likely be close by, trying to catch us before we escaped. ā€œAnd this cold Prim caught? Is it the same one you told Clerk Carmine your mother was recovering from?ā€
I bit my lip and avoided her eyes, not wanting to lie any more but afraid telling her the truth would only result in her more ire on her part. And right then, I just couldn’t take more anger aimed my way.
When we got to the house, Haymitch was already in the bedroom, kneeling down beside Prim’s sick little figure. ā€œIt’s okay, baby,ā€ he whispered, stroking back her sweat soaked hair. ā€œUncle Haymitch is here now. So is your auntie. We’re going to take care of you, alright?ā€
Prim nodded slowly as Lenore Dove rushed to her other side, pulling her into the circle of her arms. Lullabies automatically fell from her lips and she rubbed my sister’s little back as Haymitch rifled through the duffel bag until he found a thermometer. It was a fancy one, from the Capitol I could only assume. One we could never have afforded. It even showed actual numbers on a tiny screen instead of making you squint and count how far the red dye went up the measuring lines, like the one my mother always used.
When I saw the numbers 103.7 pop up I felt my heart begin to pound. I knew that was high. But was it dangerously high? I didn’t know. I had never paid much attention to my mother’s patients, least of all the ones who came with contagious diseases.
I must have been frozen in shock, because it wasn’t until my uncle squeezed past me, heading down the hallway, that I suddenly remembered how to speak.
ā€œIs she going to be okay? How bad is-ā€ I cut myself off, the exasperation evident across his weathered face making me nervous.
Instead of yelling though, he merely nodded towards my mother’s vacant figure in the bed opposite Prim. ā€œYou have kept so much from us, Katniss,ā€ he murmured gravely, the disappointment in his voice is worse than if he’d yelled.

Also: yeah, she should be mad. What, because she incorporated a joke in poor taste, it means that we can start making memes about forgiving Hitler? Dahmer? I fully agree that the Verosika joke sucks & I wish it & the (probably contemporarily written) Pentious joke were left on the cutting room floor, but it doesn't mean we have to let every bad idea in. We live in an age where the alt right is taking power, fucking obviously a show that caters to young adults isn’t going to say ā€œmaybe a genocidal maniac & a racist serial killer can ALSO be redeemedā€, it’s called having standards.
Also, keep seeing people comparing HH to South Park & Family Guy. I don’t see it. HH has more structure & heart than either of those, plus it actually has a point.
I would love more Dahmer and Hitler jokes. The one Killjoy made about Dahmer in the HH pilot is one of my faves tbh.
I know neither show has to reference real-life people and politics because it can be messy in terms of execution and world-building, but it's fun when it does. Even though neither no longer, which is fine, both shows allegedly take place in hell. Atrocious acts and edgy scenarios implied or visualized should be happening nearly constantly outside of abodes and implied therein. Instead, I've seen more hellish landscapes in skidrows and ghettos. Especially in media such as Skibidi Toilet (which is fucking insane to say).
And the thing is, Viv could have her cake and eat it too. South Park made references to Hitler and Stalin via satire all the time and not once did I go, "wow. This is being empathetic to dictators," when I was a kid. You can make references to real-life horrible people and if you're smart and clever, not be apologetic about them. Team America is another good example of political satire.
As for characters such as Verosika, which I wrote about, I know I use Breaking Bad as my go to for everything, but dammit - that and BCS are just *insert meme* cinema. Almost everyone in both shows is a horrible pos but neither show is apologetic about who they are. The consequences of their actions and how those who perceive them who've seen or were affected by those actions play out logically with how everyone's established. It feels closer to real life. Sometimes horrible people get away with shit because it's logically established. Other times it comes back to bite them in the ass. The only people I've seen woobiefy BB and BCS characters to excuse said actions, primarily Pinkman, Mike, and Gus, are folks on Tumblr. But due to the execution, which numerous people have written about far better than me, I can't help but tilt my head in confusion.
The show clearly wants the audience to empathize 100% with Verosika and Stolas. There's little to no nuance, for me at least, in the dynamics because it's either poorly executed or not there. Of course, Stella is the worst offender of this but in the opposite direction. Like - Cersei is a pos and you never forget that but at least she's layered so when she does horrible shit it sticks and is compelling (before s7...).
The problem however with both shows is they beg too many questions and this is from poor world-building. This is why I think the HH pilot works far better and would've been better if they'd gone with what I thought it was going to go with. Of course, people are asking, "can Hitler be redeemed," because the current canon is saying anyone can be redeemed if they make changes to be redeemed. That's why I proposed what I did about Valentino. Maybe an arc for Charlie would be realizing not everyone should be redeemed. You don't have to use Hitler for that either. Valentino's right there.
That's what's so frustrating for me about both shows. So many good concepts I see sprinkled in or through peoples' hcs, but not in the execution.
Also people make reference to SP and FG because Viv mentioned she was inspired by both. I know inspiration isn’t direct correlation, but both do shock humor better and SP has arguably deeper moments.
Honestly, if both shows were more like JTHM or Sweeney Todd but with broadway music, they’d work so much better.

I saw the "Gabriel being more sympathetic" post and you know. You're 100% right on there being more sympathy if we saw the before. Saw the impact. Or even just as helpful if he struggled more in the show about it. Even if it was the insane kind of struggling where he goes on some rant of making it so Emilie comes back to everything being "perfect" (Adrien in a relationship with a secured future, shared interests, etc.) Just even a bit of some twisted logic that we see him struggle with when seeing Adrien happy about something outside of this perfect bubble thoughts he had. Or also. Ya know. more scenes like them playing the piano together, watching a movie (having made it into a habit) Just there are so many ways to have given him this more sympathetic tone without needing to show a before. Bonus points if Adrien says a line of "It's like when mom was around!" Man I send long asks.
Yeah it's.
Honestly I mentioned it in the original post but it's one of the reasons that both 'Gabriel being a sympathetic villain' and the Sentikids plot..... doesn't work.
It'd be one thing if the Sentikids were just made because a few rich couples wanted kids but couldn't be bothered to adopt they wanted bio kids and used Magic to do it.
But
If Gabriel was a good person before Emilie went fucky
1.) Why was it planned for Adrien and Kagami to eventually hook up regardless of their wants? Gabriel and Tomoe already have a solid business relationship and don't get anything out of the arranged marriage, Tomoe already got Kagami out of the deal in the first place so why want more? What is it they want out of this at all?
2.) Half the time, Gabriel and Tomoe refer to some larger 'plan' in the works. If it's not forcing their kids to hook up, then what is this? It surely doesn't sound innocent.
3.) Why didn't Gabriel warn Colt about what would happen if he used the Peacock? Why was it so necessary for Felix to exist that he didn't warn Colt about the consequences?
There's probably more but it's 2:26 am and I haven't gotten any sleep in the last few days.

By request, rebloggable version of my thoughts on whether sometimes God will afflict non-believers to get them to repent and turn to Him:
A couple caveats before I explain this:
1. I do not believe every instance of a nonbeliever suffering is inherently a direct punishment from God and i would strongly caution people from using this logic 99% of the time--we live in a fallen world and the consequence of that is pain and brokenness for everyone regardless of faith or lack there of 2. However, as believers we do have assurance from God that whatever pain or brokenness we do go through is 100% not a punishment from God. We will absolutely incur pain and brokenness in our lives but God has promised to use it for our good and His glory (Romans 8:1, Romans 8:32, Romans 8:28). 3. The original question was in reference to a specific situation in which i am privy to a lot of information on a very personal and long term-level. In this particular situation I absolutely believe this is what is happening but would normally not come to this conclusion (in fact it took me a long time to come to this conclusion and even now I am hesitant to declare it) and again would caution people to pray and meditate on things VERY CAREFULLY before coming to this conclusion in yours/others' lives let alone sharing it with them/others
I would say there is biblical precedent for this though, like Saul of Tarsus pre-conversion. God had to physically blind him and knock him off of his horse before he was humbled enough to stop his persecution and give his life to Christ. Or even figures like Pharaoh who let his people suffer through terrible plagues before he was humbled enough by his own suffering to let the Jewish people flee Egypt. This last part is really hard to understand if you haven't fully internalized the character of God and His sovereignty but I'm going to try and explain this too because this is the most important part and the crux of this explanation:
God is good. Like He is everything good and just and holy and kind and perfect. We need him more than anything else in this world. He is the highest good that can ever be achieved. He is not like human beings with flawed and selfish motives. If you told me that any human being in your life: parent, sibling, friend, spouse etc. deliberately let you suffer so that you would have to rely on them totally i would call them crazy and abusive--these are flawed, and sinful human beings. To do something like that would require a large amount of pride and delusion on an unreal level. They aren't perfect, they dont have all the answers, they are biased, no human being could ever be the highest good in someone elses life like that.
But that isn't God. He is good and perfect. He does know all the answers, He is not biased, He always makes the right decisions. He is without flaw. He is your creator and sustainer and is thus the only thing even remotely qualified to be the highest good in your life. Doing whatever it takes to get you to see Him directly is a net benefit TO YOU. You can take some comfort in suffering and affliction particularly as a believer because God cares enough to use it to help you get closer to Him and His perfect love and care rather than let you continue in ignorance unafflicted.

so, my mixed and matched post-canon (for me not to forget about details) beware spoilers obv!
1. Isabella opposes the Lord Inquisitor and chooses to contain THE THING forever
2. Standing over the body of Xavier Calcazar Heinrix makes his decision and takes Ordo Xenos rosette, as he thinks - for a time, while the Inquisition is considering a proper replacement. He remembers his promises to Isabella but sees it as his last duty to establish the Sector's stability. Isabella, however, feels betrayed, she is full of his shit and doesn't want to listen to logical arguments and regicide metaphors anymore 2a. During this fight she confesses she actually always hated regicide (look, even 100 willpower woman can be petty sometimes, as a treat)
3. "Time" takes years and Heinrix keeps his position.
4. Even though the relationship between them is officially over, this flame isn't easy to put down, and, brought together by the important business, they sometimes spend way too much time planning secret operations together. 4a. The rumors spread like diarrhea, of course, with bad and good consequences
5. It seems it might be fixed, but Isabella's new Master of Whispers finds some… unannounced Inquisition presence on her ship. Heinrix insists it was done out of care for her, which pisses her off even more. She says that if he cares, he can go back and settle in his old chambers any time, and disappear to the far side of the sector…
6. …just to send a request to meet her for a very important talk a couple of months after. Heinrix comes to a randevouez point, but while he's waiting for her, he gets a report from one of the recently found worlds and finds out that Isabella's mercy came to the tragedy again. He finds it out even before her, that is why when he scolds her and mentions two very forbidden words, she doesn't even argue. Just politely accepts his opinion and goes back to her business.
7. Von Valancius flagman ship is reported missing in the Warp 7a. At the end of the 4th year of hopeless search, Heinrix calls his agents back and mourns her.
8. After amost five years of absence Isabella von Valancius reappears in the Koronus expanse to declare she's alive, to find out that a bunch of heirs tried to claim their right to her legacy but didn't succeed without the Warrant (and without the support of certain structures and people). Her title was safe but her protectorate was close to ruins. She obviously had no time for any relationshit.
9. It takes time but control is restored, and so is a relationship with all the major players, some of which are on the thin edge of losing their patience because a certain Holy Ordo was way too quick to call everything 'heresy' lately
10. Speaking of the Ordos, agents on Dargonus send Heinrix a report that one of the local Schola Progenium students is actually the direct heir of von Valancius dynasty. Heinrix sits on this information for a month before meeting Isabella. Isabella asks him to kill every person who knows about her heir 'for the sake of what was between us' 10a. Heinrix hesitates to ask, but he asks in the end, and all she says is "By His will, the child won't inherit their parent's curse" and he takes it as 'yes' 10b. He eliminates his agents personally
11. At this point the final duty takes way too much time, around two decades, and it is a time of reflection and regrets, but everything seems truly over: so much time, so many careless words, and hard decisions between the two of them, and so little time left since both of them are warp-touched…
12. …but one day Heinrix receives a message that Kasballica Mission is planning his assassination, and von Valancius' influence is not enough to prevent it. Inquisition does have resources to do so, obviously, but does he want it? The old scar he still hasn't cured from his hand burns, when he asks back if his old chambers is still unoccupied and receives 'yes', and smiles
it is not really hard to fake his own death after all, and the only thing he regrets since then is not doing it earlier

Androids got a much faster calculation method and processing power. They can handle multiple things at the same time without any issue and they learn extremely fast with minimal input. This is something u can't change and something would be considered super-human ability, something 0.0001% of people in the planet would have and not even close. Androids are non bio computers.
But things get more interesting when u apply the emotional capability (SI/Deviancy) cuz ain't like everything stop working and they behave like animals, it's just the emotional part just starts interfering in 'em logical decisions, taking more time to process things - and this bunch of things to process become something overhelming cuz things that weren't relevant before now enter into account. Ain't something there used to, esp when they're 100% a tool to obey orders only. When they finally got everything under 'em control they don't know what to do, from simply running away non-stop to just freezing in place cuz ain't nobody to say what they gotta do now.
I believe Kamski was trynna find the "perfect balance" but he didn't finish his research or neither had a model to be fully successful. He do got the Kamski Test tho and some android probably had positive results: empathy capability provoking moral conflicts and interfering in decision-making, a more autonomous process as consequence cuz gonna be the android's input only, based on what they think instead of obeying an order like they should. But I guess was a very small number and probably forgotten models and prototypes.
I guess CyberLife weaponized it with the Connor model by applying the vague orders method, propaganda injection, AAA bypass and one main handler - Amanda, the one and only. He still susceptible to SI tho, not only cuz he's a prototype but cuz he got Kamski design deep down in him.

Higurashi: Eye-Opening Chapter 12
It's that exact same panel of the cave tunnel from last chapter.
Tumblr media
That distant "splat" when Oryou hit the bottom of the well... Ew.
This is a big recap chapter going over what Ooishi and Takano have told Shion in the past as well as Shion's own speculations on the matters.
As I said before, Ooishi should not be telling Shion his speculations on the case. I'm not bothered by Takano doing it since she's not in any legal fields.
This is the first of the "Answer" arcs. Everything up to this point was the setup of the mystery, and now we're trying to piece everything together. So this chapter is giving us the information that's been collected and offering several possible explanations.
Ooishi is sticking to his idea that Satoshi murdered his aunt and the Sonozakis had something to do with his disappearance. Meanwhile, Takano believes the main families are targeting presumed enemies of the village and reenacting rituals to Oyashiro in the process.
If you don't mind me talking introductory logic, let me explain this thing called the Assumption Principle. When attempting to prove something, one of the things you can do in a logical argument is assume a statement x to be true. You are then allowed to derive additional statements which would be true if x were true.
However, you must close your assumption by either showing that x being true leads to some contradicting statement being true, and therefore x is false; or you have to conclude that if x were true, whatever statements we could derive from it would also be true.
Notice that I didn't say that we conclude that statement x actually is true.
Ooishi's arguments all assume Satoshi murdered his aunt and the Sonozakis do not want Shion to date a murderer. He made several compelling arguments that those statements being true can explain a lot of things, but they don't actually prove anything.
And Ooishi's been so dogged on his assumption that the Sonozakis are behind everything that any speculation he gives has to consider his extreme bias.
Meanwhile, Takano's ideas are in the same scenario. She assumes the murders are related to the ancient ritual customs related to Oyashiro and even points out the oft overlooked detail that the missing ringleader of the first murder fits into the trend of one person dying and another vanishing.
Both of their ideas are probable causes but not 100% certain. But Shion is going in with the assumption that they are right. She thinks the Sonozakis were responsible for either killing or making Satoshi leave and the series of murders is related to the three main families.
Shion's gone so far as to rationalize Rena and Satoshi's feeling of being watched as someone literally keeping tabs on them while conveniently ignoring that she's gone through that same sensation.
Regardless, we're about to watch Shion affirm the consequent.

What I really liked about Heart of the Sun was the aspect that immortality is a fundamentally miserable experience. I know Granblue has been pulling that tooth for years now, with Belial himself being arguably one of the first people to voice that thesis, but yeah
Your body may live on, but your personality, you yourself and all your memories fade and so you do end up dying, piece by piece, day by day
It's the true death of self, yet you can't stop, because your body keeps trudging on
It's a real Ship of Theseus situation that's very fascinating to think about
I guess that part isn't as pronounced with primals, but the Phoenix shows what Belial has been implying, you just can't fucking form bonds with people for fear they'll crumble to dust in your hands and so you end up isolating yourself, because you don't want to go through grief every couple of decades
The Phoenix doesn't even see people as people, we're basically insects to her, because she exists on a fucking planetary timescale
Something about it's better to have loved and lost, but these people have decided that they don't want to deal with those emotions altogether and so fully close themselves off from forming connections
The person Belial is truly attached to us Lucilius, an Astral, who's also technically immortal, or at least would have lived for many centuries more if it weren't for Lucifer
I'm rambling, but it's fascinating to think about
No yeah i 100% agree with everything you say.
I think it's a really interesting deep dive on immortality, that, yes, has been kinda hinted at before, but it's really there that we see the full consequences of it.
Like, we've had Belial's suicide rant, we've had Cosmos's own agony, there was also Baldr's whole plot there as well... but all of them, by being primals on a timescale of 2k years, were more about personal feeling, and also something that Satyr in CBTSLBTS also comments on about how, since there's a lot of immortal primals who know the same pain, maybe they can live in together.
Belial held on to Lucilius, and while he doesn't say it i'm sure Beelzebub was a constant in his life. Maybe Lucifer was too in some way. Cosmos had Lucifer at some point, she also had Yuni, all of that.
But i think really showing us via Abramelin just how horrible eternity can be was the best way to really drive home how viseral it felt. I think even more so since Abramelin doesn't have a body which was made for eternity, compared to the primals, so his brain would deteriorate with time as well. And unlike the primals who at least have each other, he doesn't have anyone just like himself to compare to.
Like, the others primals who hate their eternity still feel the agonizing part of it all -- but it was interesting to see on a Skydweller scale just how visceral it is all about.
And likewise about Phoenix. It's something we discussed a few time here about Astrals and how their immortality makes thing easier for themselves so they don't rely on one another. In a sense, Phoenix has the same logic, but on her own personal scale, so she cannot process how any of this should matter to her. The Omnipotent is the only being she can match in time. So of course eventually after million of years knowing everyone has a shorter lifespan than yours, why would you even bother yaknow.
it's really fascinating and i really love how Granblue asks us to think about how the lives of those immortals suck in their extremely fantasy way. Like the primals who are programmed with a purpose that they will seek to fill no matter how they feel about it, or immortality and its consequences. It's not things that are directly relatable (not as 1-1 thing, obviously as metaphor they can be), but Granblue really ask you to think hard about how those things would impact those being.
I find it so effective and i love it so much. It was a fascinating event to read on that regard.

honestly I am anti contraception. Like, I'm not gonna go on a campaign to ban it but it has undeniably had negative impacts on society.
Thanks to birth control there's way more people having sex willy-nilly because they can get away with it. This is leading to a rise in toxic and unstable relationships that often result in children anyway.
Promiscuous one-night stands aren't great, but they're also the least of my concerns. Relationships where people have sex before establishing commitment are much more concerning. I believe these sorts of relationships are the reason for the rise in single early parenthood (I'm making "early parenthood" clear because I don't care about seperated couples with older kids). imo such relationships didn't occur as frequently in a world before contraception, where every sexual encounter felt like an existential risk. On the rare occasions when such unstable relationships did occur... Well... a baby would be born and those people would be forced to either get their act together and marry, or split up. The dynamic of having sex on the third date wasn't normalised and encouraged like it is today.
The contraception lovers argue, "birth control gave women more freedom!" And yeah, I guess it did. It gave women more freedom to...
a) poison our bodies with artificial hormones and IUD complications
b) have sex with random strangers and men who want to use us for sex
c) get more strongly pressured into sex than we already are by boyfriends and dates, because muh condoms will solve everything
d) get pregnant to said men anyway because no form of birth control is 100% reliable
The only benefit I see to contraception is the Plan B pill allowing women who are raped to get protected from pregnancy. And the regular birth control pill is useful for treating some health problems, but there's no reason why this pill couldn't have been marketed as an endometriosis treatment or a period stopper. Instead they called it "birth control" and gave it to any woman who wanted to have more pregnancy-less sex with men. they also prescribe it for acne and depression and literally any hormonal problem a woman has, which is medical malpractice best discussed in another post.
Contraception lovers also argue, "but without birth control, so many more unwanted children would be born!" And I'm like er... That's not what I'm seeing at all. I'm seeing more unwanted children being born than ever before, more single motherhood, more of all that stuff in a pro-contraception world. Contraception is not 100% effective and as I went through, it is causing the formation of unstable relationships because people are having sex way too quickly. People in these unstable relationships might start out using contraception then choose to have unprotected sex and have kids.
The worst thing contraception has done is it has made people start to see sex as a human right and a necessity, when really it's something you should only do when you're lucky enough to have a deep loyal connection with someone. "Sex isn't that big of a deal!" Men cry nowadays because they have contraception "protecting" women from the consequences of sex. Men are acting more entitled to sex than ever. Now that they have condoms, women they're dating don't have as valid of an excuse to say no anymore. Before contraception you only had sex with men you felt comfortable getting pregnant and this was basic common sense. After contraception... Well this logic doesn't hold up anymore. if you don't feel fully comfortable with this guy, well suck it up girlie because he can just wear a condom, it's not like you might get pregnant or anything! Sex isn't a big deal! And if he hates condoms, then you're expected to mutilate your body with IUDs or birth control pills to cater to his needs. If you don't, some other girl will. So yeah, I don't see at all how contraception empowers women in relationships with men. All I see is it gives us less sexual bargaining power and more pressure to "put out" against our will.
And this isn't to say I want contraception banned, because we do need Plan B pills available in case women are raped. but I want the narrative that contraception is empowering and freeing to fucking stop.
If you are heterosexual... then don't have sex with people who you aren't willing to raise children with. End of story, point blank, period. I don't care if you used all the contraception or birth control in the world. If you lie down with the opposite sex and you or your partner gets pregnant, that's on you guys. Consenting to heterosex means consenting to pregnancy.

Enel vs Luffy: A Win That Doesn't Sit Right
It’s come up a few times — especially among older One Piece fans — that Enel was wildly overpowered and that Luffy’s victory over him didn’t make sense. While many defend it using the usual arguments (rubber insulates, thematic symbolism, etc.), I’ve sat with it long enough to say:
Luffy’s win against Enel was unjust, forced, and straight-up plot armor — no matter how you dress it up.
Here’s where I stand:
Rubber ≠ Invincible
Let’s get the basic science out of the way: rubber does not make you immune to electricity. Yes, it’s an insulator — but only up to a point. High enough voltage or heat? It burns, melts, or breaks down.
Enel was throwing out millions of volts. Literal lightning bolts. Even real rubber would fail catastrophically under that much energy. So the idea that Luffy — just because he’s ā€œrubberā€ — could be completely unaffected is ridiculous if we're supposed to take any physical rules seriously.
🧠 No Pain, No Fatigue, No Consequences?
Even if you want to say ā€œfine, Luffy doesn’t conduct electricity,ā€ that still doesn’t explain:
No skin burns?
No heat damage?
No nervous system disruption?
Not even a flinch at 200 million volts?
It wasn’t resistance, it was full immunity — which is absurd. There’s no tension when your hero takes a literal god’s most powerful attack and stands there smiling.
ā€œBut It Was Thematically Powerful!ā€
Sure. The underdog vs the god. The freedom fighter vs tyranny. I get it. But storytelling themes don’t excuse breaking internal logic. The world of One Piece had rules — until it didn’t.
If narrative symbolism allows the main character to be immune to anything that matters for the sake of a ā€œmessage,ā€ then stakes don’t exist anymore. That’s just plot armor with pretty words.
Enel Was Too Strong for the Arc
Let’s be real — Enel was endgame material, dropped into an early arc.
Observation Haki before it was even a concept.
Instant teleportation through electromagnetic pulses.
Flight, AoE destruction, and island-level nukes.
And yet he lost because his powers didn’t work on one person whose entire biology made him a hard counter?
That’s not a fair fight — that’s game-breaking enemy nerfed by design.
ā€œIt Was Consistent With the World!ā€
No, it wasn’t. Oda never showed any other character being 100% immune to a logia. Even characters like Ace and Crocodile had workarounds — water, haki, etc.
Luffy didn’t find a clever way to beat Enel. He just naturally negated everything Enel could do. That’s not creative — that’s convenient.
Retcon Defense (Gear 5 / Nika) Doesn’t Count
Let’s stop using Gear 5 and the Nika fruit retcon to justify this fight.
At the time of Skypiea:
Luffy was just a ā€œrubber man.ā€
There was no divine fruit, no ā€œsun god,ā€ no cartoon logic.
He was supposed to be one quirky power among many, not The Looney Tunes Avatar of Destiny
Trying to explain away a bad matchup by referencing a reveal 20 years later isn’t clever — it’s retroactive damage control.
So Yeah — The Fight Was BS
Luffy winning that fight was:
Scientifically inaccurate
Narratively convenient
Unbalanced from a power-scaling standpoint
And the earliest example of Oda writing himself into a corner and plot-armoring the way out
I know it’s a fan-favorite arc. I know the drums of liberation hit differently now. But if we’re being honest?
Luffy should’ve lost.
And that could’ve made the arc even better — Enel leaving for the moon undefeated, the Straw Hats surviving through grit, not immunity.
šŸ‘‡ Thoughts?
I’m open to debate — but no ā€œbecause rubber is immuneā€ responses unless you're bringing actual insulation thresholds, thermal data, or at least internal logic. Let's have the conversation.
