Lately I've been working on my own humanized take on TTTE, and that's been a lot of fun, but it's also brought up some interesting questions. For my universe, all the OG characters are the human drivers/workers instead of the engines. But they still have the OG engines. So I thought it'd be fun to write up some stuff on the actual engines in this universe, and a thought kinda struck me; Would these engines have names? They'd have the same numbers, of course, but would it be weird for the engines all to be named after their drivers? I.E: Human Thomas drives the #1 engine, which is also named "Thomas". Would it make more sense for all the engines to only be identified by their numbers? Or, if the engines were to have names, would they have the same ones or different ones? For instance, I do like the #1 loco being named Thomas (ofc named after the human Thomas; you can thank Edward for that lol), and maybe even #2 being Edward, but idk about the rest. I also think #9 and #10 being nicknamed "The Scottish Twins" would be fun, and a good in-joke given that both their drivers are Scottish AND twin brothers. xD But I'm not sure if the engines themselves would have proper names or not. I'm probably way thinking way to deeply about this but there's a lot of fun potential there I'd like to explore >:D I'd love to hear y'alls thoughts though! ^^

Guys please I am BEGGING you to pay more attention to the art you're reblogging

I've seen 2 different posts this week in the poolverine tag of stolen art and they both had over a hundred notes and no one calling them out.

The easiest way to tell is to compare the watermark/signature on the image with the username (no signature in combo with weird cropping is an immediate red flag). Here's one that I've seen recently making the rounds, I highlighted the signature and username to compare

They don't match. HOWEVER, there are artists whose signature is different than their user, and if you're not sure, check the blog. If they're an actual artist, you should be able to tell immediately because there will be other art pieces that match the signature and style. Art thieves tend to post multiple pictures as well, but the key differences are: the speed at which they post (your average artist isn't posting 3 different pieces back to back in the same day, at least not without an explanation), the signatures and watermarks of course, and noticeable differences in artstyle (and even artists who practice different styles are still gonna have tells that it's their art like the shapes, anatomy, coloring, shading are going to resemble each other)

Back to the example blog, let's look at their other posts.

The first was posted the same day as the poolverine piece, and not only is there no signature + obvious cropping, it's a completely different artstyle. There was no credit for the og artist on the post. The second also has a different signature and artstyle, and of course no credit to the original artist. We know now that this person has no problems with posting other people's art and letting people believe it's theirs.

One of the most common excuses these reposters give is that they found it on pinterest or some other site, where there was no credit, and wanted to share it anyway. Except it took me 3 SECONDS to find the artist of the poolverine art by reverse image searching, which you can find HERE. I unfortunately couldn't find the source for the Scarlet Witch art, but I did find the source of "Y/N's hero suit" HERE. Of course, not being able to find the source is even less of an excuse, because you should always get the artist's permission to repost, and you can't do that if you don't even know who the artist is.

This isn't meant to make you feel terrible for unknowingly reblogging stolen art, I understand that if you're just scrolling along it's easy to just reblog something you like without thinking, I've done this myself before, which is why I'm so particular about the art I reblog now. If you're willingly reblogging art that you know is stolen, then you're up there with the thief in your shittiness and you can go fuck yourself.

You shouldn't have to go sleuthing just to reblog art you like, but unfortunately the internet has shitty people that steal, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

e-soul, what's his deal? spoilers for ep.4 and 5 trailer - big analysis post. ~1300 words

so, the slight difference in colors DOES matter. I thought they were just like, time-related or maybe changed based on if powers were being used, but no. interestingly we have seen both these designs in 3d/canon - the gray one in the trailers and the blue/yellow one in episode 3.

i think it's safe to say that at least in some way, Blue and Gray are two different entities, but a ton of other Crazy Director Li Bullshit is totally possible alongside this.

he's got some kind of themes with duality. yk, just maybe. easiest answer is that "oh he's got an evil half" but that seems too straightforwards? i find it really interesting that in ep.3, his "nemesis" that firm man kills on accident looks like him! presumably on purpose for some aesthetic reason.

Section 1: the random guy from the trailer!

off the new episode preview, it seems like the pov we follow is gonna be some guy who also becomes e-soul, somewhat similar to nice. most likely, he becomes Blue E-soul.

in episode 3, Firm Man is called to help out E-soul who is listed with "mighty glory" despite him being with Treeman. so organizations do work together to some extent? put a pin in this!

he looks like such a loser... and notably he has all his limbs intact whereas gray e-soul has fake arm(s?).

we get a good bit of his backstory:

Gray E-soul probably saved him - while being incredibly sus and murdery.

so, no way to know if this guy even LIKES e-soul. he either idolizes him or he's traumatized.

i mean. he does follow his example, so maybe he got inspired, but im getting ahead of myself

He's got a friendship with some little kid who looks like Lin Ling! they could be brothers - maybe this is the answer to what happened to Lin Ling's family after he faked his death? this would also affect L0 in hindsight because he's not just a "normal guy". this could also just be some other kid.

Section 2: OG E-soul

straight-up, Gray E-Soul is probably old. hella old. maybe even pre-commission, whatever the "commission" is. he's described as a "hero of legend".

Gray E-soul seems morally gray as well, seen by how he's totally killing those guys in front of a child. which, TOTALLY made me instantly think: what if Gray E-soul isn't even an actual hero (unlikely) but instead just Blue E-soul's inspiration. OR vice-versa. maybe his methods are really brutal/controversial. maybe he's retiring.

something related to this might be the cause of this line:

E-soul also has associations with the cross! i'm not religious and I don't know what that symbolizes, but it did set off analysis alarm bells.

ALSO. this could be interpreted heavily as a cross, but i see it more as a four-point star thingy. which idk what that could mean on it's own, except i dont have to because

X is already associated with this! and also, associated with THIS GUY, who e-soul fights in the pv!

Section 3: Zero + Singularity Theory

I'll call him Zero because that's the only name we got. it's possible "gray e-soul" is actually Zero and blue e-soul is e-soul but... idk doubt it. this guy has a ton of religious imagery. loads. they seem to be like... black hole related?

Zero seems to have this false savior kind of vibe in their creepy human form. in general, they seem a lot more large-scale + cosmic than anyone we've seen so far (except X, maybe?)

the first concept I thought of was the technological singularity.

wikipedia blurb that explains everything actually:

"The technological singularity—or simply the singularity[1]—is a hypothetical point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable consequences for human civilization.[2][3] According to the most popular version of the singularity hypothesis, I. J. Good's intelligence explosion model of 1965, an upgradable intelligent agent could eventually enter a positive feedback loop of successive self-improvement cycles; more intelligent generations would appear more and more rapidly, causing a rapid increase ("explosion") in intelligence which would culminate in a powerful superintelligence, far surpassing all human intelligence.[4]"

this could be relevant because E-soul is literally like. electric and cyborg, but also! A singularity is the thing we theorize to be at the center of a black hole.

the singularity is increasingly talked about especially regarding AI, and the point where AI becomes self-sufficient/aware. This could be really juicy commentary, and personal character angst for og e-soul if he ends up not being totally organic and super duper old.

something something singularity -> technology -> X

The singularity could be good, or bad. paired with E-soul's duality theme, and X's weird 1 frame cutaway with this guy in the opening, well.

X can break the fourth wall. for a character in a story, isn't awareness kind of like the Ultimate Knowledge? ultimate intelligence - like a singularity. whoever holds the title of X gets stronger and stronger every year, with the popularity of Heroes increasing and people constantly getting stronger. I think this is the cycle where X has reached a turning point.

X is also constantly seen on electric billboards and drinking his drinks lmfao. that theory where he's a mascot, omg i can't find it in all the posts but credit to that person @warabito!! it's been living in my head rent free. if X is a created hero that would certainly fit this!! literal singularity.

explosions - Zero, but also the sudden explosion in trust value for X.

Meanwhile, I think Zero is the reason for the commission. X and Zero might be associated because they are narrative foils? @awkwardambivert789 said that X could want to tear down the Hero system. in this way -wanting to destroy heroes- they could be similar! also Zero is eclipse associated and dark, while X is all white

this is total speculation atp, but I think that Gray E-soul could be the reason for the system as we know it in some shape or form. when people say "we're all counting on you, E-soul" in the PV, I think that's a singular, utterly extraordinary instance where E-soul gets insanely powerful for one moment to defeat somebody outside his weight class. He prevents the singularity (using a four-point star thing!!), but is also a shining example that people can point to for the Trust Value system. again total speculation though.

Section 4: Speculation on Blue vs. Gray

I think this is a case where Gray E-soul is alive, but retired. like, maybe this is an instance where people KNOW Blue is Not The Same as Gray. This would explain why a supposed "legend" is not X but instead #9 below a dog with a hat 💀

Okay, I think it's fair to say that Gray E-Soul is a little messed up + in need of therapy. that's why it's SO INSANELY INTERESTING that BLUE E-SOUL KILLS MOON. he saw OG e-soul killing people and said "bet"

Director Li does this thing where he really, REALLY likes to withhold information and mislead the viewer (very rarely to the detriment of the material, but often just makes it really nail-biting and hooks you to the next episode. Link Click is very similar!). this is where what we know presents LOTS of interesting directions, but no concrete, probable paths.

Maybe E-Soul did it in some part because they know Lin Ling. Maybe this is because the Treeman boss said he'd handle the Moon problem, and sent both a hero to publicly rescue Moon AND a hero to straight up make her Actually Dead since Mighty Glory has been shown to collaborate with Treeman.

The Treeman boss is like. totally part of Spotlight right...? maybe that's how they found Moon, like w/ the power of fear the same way they found Enlighter's reddit cave

maybe if we take E-Soul's PV at face value, then Blue and Gray are enemies! it could be that Gray sees Blue as their personal demon or something like that, seeing how Blue makes Gray's modern armor crack. fear of replacement, or Gray doesn't like the kind of person Blue is?

the theme of replacement could be applied to tbhx as a whole.

okay i've seen a few other posts with ppl's headcanons for all the characters' sexualities/genders, and i'm bored on lunch at work, so here's all mine lol

og dads:

darryl: bisexual with a preference toward women. he suppressed his attraction toward men until he was trapped in a van with henry and glenn for months (he didn't really come to terms with it until he learned about grant tho)

henry: pansexual swinger. thats it. maybe polyam

glenn: demiromantic bisexual. he's never been in love since morgan, but he's been physically attracted to many different people.

ron: ron doesn't have a label, he just knows he loves samantha and he's very happy that she loves him back. this is the first time he's ever been in love

kiddads:

grant: canonically gay and we stan forever <3

terry jr: bi, but he leans toward women. he's probably the type who has only ever had one boyfriend, and it lasted for about a month (that boyfriend was nicky)

nicky: pansexual. does not give a fuuuuck, he will fall in love with anyone at the drop of a hat. he cannot tell the difference between platonic and romantic crushes, though, and it has caused Problems (the problem was with terry). oops

sparrow: he is straight. ish. i feel like sparrow's grip on the concepts of love and gender are tenuous at best, so he just says whatever is easiest. he's an oak boy, and he has a wife, so thats easy

lark: aroallo. does not fall in love, will have sex just to feel something, does not care. gender? i hardly knew her! ...yeah, like sparrow, his grip on that particular concept is nonexistent. he's an oak boy

the teens:

lincoln: my baby boy is gray-bisexual. he very rarely falls for someone, but when he does he is in LOVE and they are his whole world. also polyamorous, so if he falls for someone they get added to the pile of people he already loves

taylor: bi-ace. he's only ever "attracted" to people in theory, and he has faked many a crush to fit in (no one really buys it though). he loves romance and he loves trying to woo someone, though

normal: pansexual, preference toward boys. and he's polyamorous but this stresses him out so bad

scary: bisexual (no preference at all) and polyamorous. she was too excited to have multiple husbands for there to be another answer

hermie: morosexual. his gender is joker. (or bigender shhhh this one isn't as serious) (lmao)

As promised[and a little late], here's the intro for my Gamera vs. Zigra fancomic: Rapid Ascent! This sequence was done primarily as a style test, but it can be considered canon in this continuity. Apologies in advance for the image layout/formatting in the post, I know it's not the easiest to read. I'm still deciding where to upload the whole comic once it's done. I'll probably make it a downloadable PDF as well. eventually

a few extra notes about this sequence below:

So, the first slight difference between the og film and Rapid Ascent is Chikako Sugawara's occupation. She's a geologist on the moon in the original, in here she's still a geologist, but is working on a submarine instead. Unfortunately for her, the result is the same when it comes to the alien invader. This sequence takes place roughly a year before the main comic.

I'm still not 100% certain how much screentone im going to use, might have to go on a page-by-page basis. The interior of the submarine was quite detailed and im hoping that the rest of the backgrounds im going to have to draw wont take as long lol.

Also, just in case it needs to be said: This comic is in no way meant to be "better version" of the original film. I'm not making this to try to pitch myself as a better story teller than the crew at Daiei at the time. I just wanted to make a tribute to a film i really liked. ANYWAYS, I do hope it's comprehensible and enjoyable!! I'll probably be posting the covers soon.

Thinking thoughts about Love Island!Pazzi and how Paige would be an OG and already coupled up (with someone who's super sweet and pretty and Paige is trying really hard to like her but something's just missing) when Azzi would enter as the second bombshell. And Paige doesn't really believe in love at first sight but holy fucking shit does she feel sparks from the first minute Azzi -in a purple bikini so really Paige never even really stood a chance- saunters into the villa.

Paige is the first person Azzi sees -and holy fucking shit did her heart just skip a beat- but she also sees the girl next to Paige; already knows that they're coupled up and allegedly going strong (it's been like a week but that's practically a year in LI terms iykyk) so she figures rather then set herself up for heartbreak immediately, she'll test the waters, hoping that a good chat with the other attractive men and women in the villa will make her forget about just how quickly she'd been entranced by those pretty blue eyes.

But alas, although there are some perfectly nice people (and some clearly not so perfect ones) in the villa, Azzi just can't seem to feel a connection with any of them and Paige is trying very hard not to show how badly she's hoping -despite having another girl next to her- that Azzi will eventually pull her for a chat (she's also very much not jealous over a girl she hasn't even properly spoken to, of course not!)

It isn't until the very end that Azzi does finally give into what she's wanted to since she'd walked into the villa, and pulls Paige aside to the little balcony upstairs so they can chat. And fuck, if talking to each other isn't the most natural, most easiest, most comfortable thing in the world and they talk and talk and talk about everything and nothing, their bodies getting closer and closer together until their knees bump together and they both flush under the soft glow of the moonlight. It just feels right.

And from there on, it's almost inevitable that the two of them are headed on a collision course, even if Paige does go through a brief 2-day stint of letting the guilt she feels towards the girl she's already paired up with act as a barrier to what she feels for Azzi. It takes watching Azzi flirt with a man of all things -which the brunette really only did out of spite- for Paige to pull her head out of her ass and tell Azzi that she wants them to try. Naturally, the two of them sleep outside on the daybeds together that night and the day after, at the recoupling, Azzi has the sweetest speech for when she picks Paige (after almost giving her a heart attack by making it sound like she wasn't gonna choose her of course)

After that it's really just a couple of weeks of bliss until a game exposes something about their pasts, leading to a mini argument that they don't get to resolve because of course: IT'S TIME FOR CASA AMORE.

And I just picture them stressed out of their minds because they miss each other so fucking much and they're both upset because they hadn't been able to make up after their fight and for as much as they trust each other, it's only been a couple of weeks and hell if they aren't both scared that the other will walk away and find someone better.

But really neither of them needed to worry because for as much as there's this one annoying as fuck girl (her name rhymes with Kae) trying to make a move on Paige, the blonde refuses to even kiss her amidst a challenge because she'd rather lose it than kiss someone else not named Azzi. And even though the producers try really hard to make it seem like Azzi might have something with one of those girls (whose name might rhyme with Mate) by sending Paige a postcard of the two of them giggling together, all Azzi has done is rant to said girl about how much she misses Paige and how wonderful Paige is.

The two of them are buzzing the day of the post-Casa recoupling ceremony, antsy as can be in anticipation of seeing each other. And the producers milk the hell out of it making sure their reunion is the last one so that they can be the big dramatic finale. They definitely don't disappoint.

It's Paige who stayed at the villa, so she gets to give the speech and really it was a lovely speech she'd written but she's so nervous and the tears are definitely threatening to spill, so she ends up cutting it in half and speeding through it because god she just wants to see her girl. Azzi doesn't even make it to the firepit, hell she barely even makes it past the entrance until Paige is already running towards her and they crash into a pile of limbs in the middle, trying to intertwine themselves around each other, babbling incoherent i miss you's into each other's skin as they hold each other as tightly as possible.

That night, they tell each other -under their breaths as softly as they can so it can be a moment for them and not for the cameras- i love you for the first time, and they mean it forever.

Suffice to say, they definitely win the show (and they get an MTV special for their wedding as well tee hee)
