No, that was a lie - it was months before that.

You dreamed of when you first saw his Cheshire grin on your computer screen. Frank Woods and Russell Adler

Long ass post of me talking about the relationship between these two

So I didn't really pay much heed to their relationship until now; it just felt like two characters that were given a few connections here and there to fit Adler into the Black Ops universe.

But the more I looked into them, I find a lot more going on between them—enough for me to believe that aside from Mason, Adler might be the closest person Woods has in his life.

So how did it start?

We learn that Woods knew Adler since Vietnam (presumably during MACV-SOG operations, which both Woods and Adler headed). Their relationship isn't exactly highlighted in Cold War, but there's a lot of subtle yet notable interactions between the two:

In the first cinematic, where Russell gets questioned by the officials if his plan was necessary and he responds that they don't have to listen to him—guess who's the first to jump to his defense?

Though this one's subtle, I find it important. Adler keeps Bell within his or Park's sights almost at all times, but the one op where they can't, who does he trust to go with Bell?

Though I doubt Woods knew about Bell, I feel Adler trusted him enough to handle them should they go berserk.

Right after, when the jig is up about the greenlight nukes and Hudson spins the blame on Adler for not apprehending Perseus before, Woods doesn't even need to be told to square up and beat this bitch up a second time

Now, how is this possible? Why does Adler act so uncharacteristically caring towards Woods? Why is Woods so faithful in Adler? Why are they so close? In fact, you'd think Woods would hate Adler the same way he hates Hudson—the authority, the methodical nature, the secrecy—you'd think it was a no brainer. And so did I, for a long time.

So it surprised me when I heard Woods speak so highly of Adler, not even having the slightest of doubts against him:

So why does he place this insane amount of trust in Adler?

Well, he gives us—Case—the answer.

Russell fought with him in Vietnam.

No shit, yeah. But remember how tight knit Woods was to his fellow soldiers. He even cried when the young recruit died in the first game.

So of course, fighting alongside Adler in a hellhole would've brought them closer together.

You keep believin' in the ones who got your back, go to battle for you. Adler was one of those.

Of course Adler had Woods' back; it's Vietnam, you're not surviving without having your team's back. It's not a stretch to say they went through life and death moments that they survived solely because of each other.

But another large part of why I believe Woods respects Adler is because he's, surprisingly, a lot more similar to Woods than meets the eye.

Think back to Break on Through. All the memories that Adler has Bell relive. His memories. Who else but him could describe such scenes in detail? He was the one that survived the helicopter crashing into the trees. He was the one that treaded through trenches in the night dodging a field of VC. He was the one that took out practically invisible snipers gunning for him from the trees. He was the one that cleared a village of the convoy and defended American troops under fire. He's the soldier that survived all that.

He's a killer; a monster, make no mistake. A monster that wasn't always assigned behind a desk holding the title of an officer—hidden behind a mask of nonchalance and charm. And Woods knows that monster. Woods respects that monster.

Adler's persona is ultimately an act. He appears uncaring and practical, but his true nature always slips through. He doesn't get along with Hudson, nor with Park's pragmatic nature. He makes split second decisions not on logic, but his instincts—hell, sometimes even his wishes. He gets vicious, loses his cool, and is unrelenting in his goals, refusing to be deemed some washed up old man. That's the true Adler peeking through—forever embedded yet somehow hidden in the lines stretching across his face, only ever showing its ugly head when he's pushed to the limit.

Who else would know it better than Woods, from a place you survive by being nothing but vicious?

As for Adler, who holds Woods close when he seems to do so for very few, he too tells Case why.

He's loyal.

Russell values loyalty: when he leads people into the eye of the storm, he needs loyal men following him without question. It's why he gave Belikov no choice but to get him the keycard, expected Sims and Park to fall in line and help his ass, made sure Bell obeyed him like a dog; it's why he even orders Case around like one (more on that later). He's a natural born leader that needs people with him and all the decisions he makes, questionable as they are.

And when he's taken to playing the villain with such commitment, to still have a friend that believes in him and his choices—a close comrade he's known from his oldest and darkest days on the job? He'll allow him into his heart, even if just a little.

Beware of people spreading misinformation

So yesterday I came across this video by this creator. Now the video in itself isn't bad. It's a tiktok praising and appreciating Ares and explaining how he isn't only a god of destruction. That's all good.

What isn't good is that if you went into the comments the OP was saying Ares is a protector of women and that there's both mythological and archeological sources for that. As a lot of people may know (I've seen so many posts talking about this lately), that this is not true. If you try searching for archeological sources on Ares being a protector of women, you'll find none. What you'll find is a Tumblr post from 2013. Yes there's the epithet Gynaikothoinas but that's about women in a particular city, not all women.

Now if you as a woman in 2024 have felt protection from Ares and wanna worship him as such I think that's great. I think deities being associated with more modern domains keeps the practice alive (like Hermes being associated with computers, for example). What's not okay is pretending that he was historically worshipped as such.

Rightfully a lot of people were calling this creator out and some people were asking for sources (some others were blinding believing them, as it usually happens in Tiktok). OP said they weren't gonna waste their time on citing sources. If someone tells you giving you their sources is a waste of time, there's a high chance that they're lying. I came across this video today again and the comments were disabled. Go figure.

Edit: what I'm saying here about Ares not being the protector of women comes from my own research - and the lack of findings of papers/book/myths stating he is. If anyone has actual sources on this please let me know, as no person I've asked for sources has ever told me where they got that information from. Worst part is that at first I used to ask out of pure curiosity (because I tend to assume people aren't lying) and they always either responded in a defensive way or led me to sources of low credibility (ex. Tumblr posts or Tiktok videos). But if anyone actually has sources on this please let me know. I know a lot of people will point to Alcippe's myth but Apollo also saved Letho from being SAd and he's never seen as a “protector of women”, which is where my confusion comes from.

Hello! Saw the anon ask about Ai, and I am curious too!

I completely understand not using Ai and calling it art, or submitting works without permission from the OP, but I am curious why people are against Ai like C.Ai in the case it’s used for entertainment

I’ve seen posts that claim it’s “anti-human”, or “anti-social enabling”, but I feel like it’s not?? Considering the fact that people who are anti-social are antisocial with or without Ai.

I can understand the claims of “anti-human” if ai is being improperly used to steal work though; but I feel it’s unfair to make that a general claim?

I also understand that Ai (specifically C.Ai) uses public works to grow its recognition patterns and learn “how” to write, but most responses are individualized for whatever chat/topic it responds to, so I don’t quite understand how it’s being considered (by most) as stolen work??

Genuinely curious and would love your take because I respect/love your work(s)!

Side note, I have a personal rule that I think most who support Ai should also have: I never have and never will feed Ai any work without OP consent.

Back in the mid-00s, I helped train a language model in the hopes it would one day achieve true AI-levels of learning. It involved a volunteer website where we taught the model ourselves, and I don't know what happened to the organization, but that was my first introduction to language models.

Voluntarily training a language model one-on-one 20 years ago is a far cry from the mass-theft machines of today that churn out forest-destruction levels of mediocrity.

C.AI, as far as I understand it, is a generative language model, and therefore cannot be separated from the ethical issues of other generative AI models (vast resource use, art theft, racist and sexist bias, privacy issues, etc.).

C.AI and other AIs that give the user individualized responses are trained on materials that, most likely, they haven't obtained with permission and consent from the original creators. That is why it's considered stolen. Not because it takes the original work and gives it to someone else, but because it bases its patterns of repetition from written works that were fed into it.

AI art cannot be copyrighted, because it does not belong to the model or the user. That alone should tell you how the US federal courts view generative AI in terms of original works.

But wait- if Hitler and the Nazis were against Christianity, why did they employ Christian rhetoric in speeches? Why did they negotiate a treaty with the Vatican?

If you are a psychopath vying for support and leadership in an overwhelmingly Christian nation, are you really going to talk about how useless you see Christianity, or how it is a threat to your rule? Of course not. Hitler was a demagogue. He wanted to appeal to the common 1930s German citizen, which meant he would need to appeal to Christians.

It wasn't until he had secured power that he could finally show his true colors, breaking his promise to the Vatican to not interfere with the rights of the church. Among the many groups persecuted in the holocaust were Christians, especially Roman Catholics. Clergy in Germany and other territories were closely supervised to make sure they didn't contradict the Nazi teachings, Catholic organizations were shut down, and many prominent Christians were sent to camps for forced labor and execution.

Seeing a lot of pro-leather posts seemingly as a response to anti-leather posts, the latter of which I've seen maybe one in a sea of the former; and honestly sometimes it seems like y'all are fighting an invisible enemy.

Fake leather is plastic. We get it cool. We know it. And while on the surface it seems like normal valid anti-plastic sentiment, on a slightly deeper level it seems like once again people decided to go "wow vegans are actually stupid and don't know anything. Hi, Red Spring anon here again (I couldn't think of a better name lol) :-D I have come with some ramblings and a few questions bec I am too curious for my own good.

Also (I will find a better word to use someday I swear), I am excited for the snails. I don't know how it's gonna work but I'm excited nonetheless. Also about Etho, picture me this: he is a pretty mighty opponent in Third Life, we nerf him in Last Life, then nerf him more in Double Life to the point of just being support for Joel, and then in LimLife you can just one-shot him with any move and has a special move called "absent father" that makes him run away from any battle, but if you are able to defeat him, he gives you an item called "child support money" that you then give to Cleo, how's that? >:3 /j, probably

I did actually apologize and offer to delete my response recently when I realized someone probably wasn't looking for engagement, even without them having said anything about it first.

I replied to one post asking for further context, and was going to ask more but decided to scrap it and be content with the answer I was given. I think that's it unless my memory is failing me again. Someone did post something I wanted to respond to, but I actually went into their inbox to ask them if they minded me doing so and as of now haven't heard back.

The post about forcemasc was tagged #vent, true enough, but also tagged #forcemasc, and even if that was purely for categorization purposes the result is still...throwing it out at people going "hey, stop using this word because I've decided you don't suffer like I do" and I felt like that was an example of a time where I could use my authority as a transfem to be like "no, that's okay, actually."

I guess I could have just vagueblogged her instead and put that in the tag for a similar effect without directly engaging with her. I should keep that in mind for the future.

I also really didn't expect that to be any kinna contentious discussion, though, like the OP did not seem that unreasonable at all and I thought the end was going to be one more reply to the effect of "oh I didn't know that," and if anything I thought she'd feel relieved about the situation not being as bad as she thought, because it's literally not a problem.

AITA for not "liking" my bff's post?

My bff R and I have known each other for 10+ yrs and *always* like/comment on each other's posts. R has 2 other bffs: M (a mutual close friend) and H (who R and M have known for 15 yrs). In 2017, after our 1st yr of uni, we all went to dinner to celebrate R's bday. It was my 1st time meeting H. I love making new friends, and I know she means a lot to R and M. But while at dinner, H was awful to the waitress (did a really mean-spirited prank to her), refused to tip despite great service, and made a cruel joke about me. She had literally JUST met me: I mentioned that I had never gone to a prof's office hrs, and she responded coldly with "I just know *you* don't make A's." (I actually HAD made all A's that year, but didn't say anything back.) R is the most kind-hearted person, so I was shocked at how H is. I was so hurt that I told R my thoughts after dinner, and R just said "I'm sorry it hurt, I'm sure she didn't mean it." Then in 2023, I hung out with R and M and we took a cute pic. R posted it on insta.... in a photo dump incl. pics of R with M and H. I don't care that they hang out (R knows how much I dislike H), but I refuse to like posts that include H. Next day, R shyly asked me if I thought it was a good pic of us. I said "It is, I really love it!" which was true. But I didn't tell her that I won't "like" a post with H in it. I could tell she was sad that I didn't "like" that post she tagged me in, which made me feel bad since I never want to hurt R. AITA? I know it's petty of me and likes don't matter, but I just still feel so hurt by what was said to me and done to the waitress, so it's a moral thing for me.

I had no idea what the post/meme was specifically about, though I was amused by the image of Klee flipping the bird, and I saw nothing wrong with the official statement as written.

It may be insulting from the outside, but it might be that the Chinese see it as flattering to interpret a foreign character to look and act more like them than like they would in reality.

I can't say that other cultures are any different, in that respect.

I understand feeling insulted by a gacha game. To this day, I resent that not a single US president is represented as a Servant in Fate/Grand Order, while instead all of their power is somehow combined and only amounts to a jumped-up Thomas Edison, who styled himself "Presi-King", despite never having been a president, and despite how a president is not supposed to be a king.

(It is only mildly appropriate in that Thomas Edison is a known thief as well as a liar. Just a generally awful human being.

But it also means that Nikolai Tesla by himself is equal to a Servant empowered by all United States presidents. Tesla was exceptional, but so much more so than George Washington, John Adams, Theodore Roosevelt and all others put together?

I've seen the shit that Japanese historians drew to represent George Washington to their people, and it was like something out of their own ancient legends.)

But I don't play FGO and have no desire to do so, which makes it very easy to dismiss it as "just a game, and I don't care".

Ultimately, games like Arknights and Genshin Impact are designed for a Chinese audience first and everyone else second. And I've long known that China has a dim view of black people in general, and a cultural bias towards fairer skin long before they knew black people existed. Since ancient times, the absence or deepness of your tan served to reveal your social status. Only poor laborers would have the darkest tans, and only the most powerful people could have the fairest skin... and this fact remains true in the modern day, so the beauty standard has no reason to disappear.

So with few exceptions, fairer skin is seen as more attractive, and Chinese gacha games want players to spend as much money as possible pulling for as many characters as possible.

(It's for similar reasons that Genshin Impact and Arknights have no playable characters with any wrinkles from age. Arknights famously had one old lady with wrinkles that some people wanted to become an operator, only for her to die in the story. Hypergryph apparently had no faith that she would sell to a broad enough audience.)

I'm not saying I agree with whatever is going on with Chinese tastes, and I'm not qualified to define it as classism, colorism, or racism...

But it's a broader, deeper matter in China than just one or two gacha games or the companies that make them. And Chinese companies are, again, foremost concerned with selling their games to the Chinese national audience rather than the rest of the world.

(If you can't sell at home, how can you hope to sell anywhere else?)

On which note, I think the company made the right move in buffing Rex Lapis (???) in response to the playerbase's national pride.

If a USA company made a similar game, but the quintessential USA character was lackluster despite being in the rarest category of characters, I'd hope that the USA playerbase would raise a stink about it and the company would appease them.

Speaking of which, let's look at My Hero Academia and All Might. A Japanese man born and raised in Japan who looks and acts so American that even his countrymen mockingly call him "the American".

He's a case of Mukokusei, or "Statelessness", or "Without Nationality".

Perhaps in a similar fashion to how Dragon Ball Z has all space aliens speaking Japanese and working within the Japanese sense of humor, Chinese games like Genshin Impact might be imagining a world where everyone is essentially Chinese and can be understood on terms familiar to the Chinese, even if they have a lot of exotic framing and seasoning.

Star Trek was similar. All alien species were ultimately written by Americans for an American audience, and therefore fit within American frames of reference.

Shota’s characterization is a blend between the anime and the manga.

We shouldn’t have to talk about this but here we are, godmodding & metagaming isn’t permitted. With this in mind that doesn’t mean that Eraser is granted immunity from his actions. For example; If he chooses to provoke your muse and your muse reacts negatively, Shota will have to deal with those consequences, violent or otherwise.

Considering the nature of Shota’s power is kind of OP, in general I’m going to allow whoever I play with to use their digression as to whether his quirk is effective or not. I also won’t mind discussing this with partners preemptively, in fact I think in some instances I may prefer it. His abilities do have their limits and you can find more about the nature of his quirk here.

I am big on story-building and while I do enjoy winging threads, I also would like to know a general direction that we are going in.

I primarily view asks as 'prompt' work. I’m typically okay with having memes being turned into threads. However, if I don't see it going anywhere as far as an over-arching plot goes/not being able to work it into some sort of storyline, or think that the thread has run it's course; I may drop the thread/not respond. If you want to continue something that I have dropped; just talk to me about it.

I am very big on communication and I think it can really make or break a roleplay experience. I’m far from perfect and if something doesn’t make sense to you in our thread, let me know. On the topic of relationships, I generally don’t roleplay smut and prefer to imply what happened or fade to black, I don’t mind writing ‘the-morning-after’ threads.  I may respond to some dash games with USFW content or drabbles/metas. I might even do them in ask memes/send some asks, but don't expect it to go anywhere. This rule may change once I feel comfortable here again.

I will not be shipping Aizawa with any minors, especially his students. This also applies to students who are ‘aged up’. If you even try to approach me about this you will be blocked.

I'm gonna answer these after I eat and my pain meds kick in and I can think again(and sit at my desk so I can do research) but hey, just a note at first, if I am legit wrong about some or all of this(despite the fact that I have done loads of research on ADHD) could you not have just corrected me without the condescending "questions" that imply that I'm an idiot? I don't think my initial addition was snobby or mean or justifies talking to me like this. I'm down to learn more, I love learning and I don't want to spread misinfo especially about my own health conditions, but this is just mean. Like that's it, you're just being mean rn for no reason. Immediately assuming the worst and being a jerk to the person you're trying to educate so that they feel as stupid as possible is the worst way to open a dialog and usually just results in said person doubling down and refusing to listen to you ever again. It's really unhelpful.

Let me try to be fair in how I respond. I will acknowledge I was being pointed in my questions.

First:

Your response was "mean" in a variety of ways.

Your initial addition indirectly stated that people suffering from addiction aren't disabled or dealing with a significant medical illness

You implied heavily that there are good but "tragic" addicts and annoying/bad "deplorable" addicts. You basically divided people suffering from addiction as "people who became addicts because the government/medical system failed them, and that could kill them, which is a tragedy," and "people who became addicts because they're bad people who took drugs recreationally and therefore made my life harder." I am not saying this is exactly what you actually said. I am saying these are the implications of the things you were saying.

You made assertive, definitive statements about stimulant medications, ADHD, and addiction which were variously: factually untrue, misleading, ableist, or just callous towards people suffering with addictions.

So I didn't really feel like your post response was lacking in meanness. You were very obviously being mean about people whose addictions you see as being a problem and an inconvenience to you, specifically. Because their addiction comes from the terrible, unsympathetic place of "wanting to have fun," according to your all-knowing understanding of literally every person's journey to becoming addicted to stimulants.

Basically I think I was snarky and it was obvious and I own that I was being snarky. I'll admit this. Yes, I was being snarky. I was also being direct and honest about it.

In return, I ask that you consider that what you were saying was absolutely being condescending and mean towards people struggling with addiction, and that you didn't think about how you were being mean/condescending/ableist because you weren't really thinking about addicts as people struggling with an illness. It was easier for you to be callous and dismissive towards the invisible strawman "bad addicts," and to direct your anger at other people who are suffering than to simply not do that.

I have done loads of research on ADHD

Lots of people have. Certainly lots of us with ADHD have researched our own disorder.

But when you confidently assert things that are just absolutely incorrect, or which imply things that aren't true, or are pseudo-scientific, people are going to say something about it.

And look I'll lay it out: I got a D in high school chemistry. I *know* I am bad at chemistry, I struggle with the math involved, and I barely passed that class. I am confident there is a lot of shit I'm very ignorant about when it comes to medications, how they work, and pharmaceutical chemistry.

So if it helps: I am not actually the smartest person ever, and especially not when it comes to drugs.

Another example: this weekend I saw a man constantly puking in a trash can in NYC. I have a phobia around vomiting, and it's a major anxiety trigger for me that I would "catch" a sickness like that. so I decided to shut up my anxiety that I would catch the barfing from half a block away, by googling "illegal drugs which cause vomiting." (The logic was that if this guy was vomiting from taking drugs, I couldn't POSSIBLY catch a horrific viral vomiting disease from him. I was trying to give my irrational anxiety a reason why people might barf for non-contagious reasons.)

Anyways my results were like "people abusing opioids can experience intense repeated vomiting." And I went "wow I had No clue!!! I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS." And then I remembered that when I got my wisdom teeth removed I was prescribed opioid painkillers AND anti-emetics because the painkillers usually cause nausea. And I needed those anti-emetics when I took the painkillers.

Basically i didn't realize this very obvious thing about illegal drug use side effects despite having taken legally prescribed drugs in the same class because I'm pretty ignorant about recreational drug use, addiction, etc.

I say all this to say "not knowing things is normal and I also don't know things or am ignorant about things."

Idk if that makes you feel better or not but in the interest of confirming I am not like, trying to imply that *I* am the smartest person in the room.

That all said, my snark here increased with the amount of "this-is-factual confidence" you were using.

Some of the specifics, less snark:

You said people with ADHD can't get addicted to prescription stimulants but *do* get addicted to meth. Either we can get addicted to amphetamine stimulants, or we can't. (We can.)

Prescription Stimulants for ADHD are often amphetamines of some kind, just like meth is an amphetamine drug.

Some people with SUDs (substance use disorders) receive ADHD treatment with non-stimulant medications because of the addiction risk

People with ADHD can absolutely abuse in order to get high, or get addicted to appropriately prescribed stimulant medications. Even accidental overdosing of your stimulant medication would produce some of these side effects.

Methamphetamine can be legally prescribed in the US, btw.

ALL medications can have dangerous, unpleasant, or even deadly side effects. Adderall, Ritalin, etc do not have "no risks" and I am serious that if your doctor isn't talking to you about side effects, health impacts, interactions with other drugs, etc, then you need to ask them what you should monitor, or get a new doctor. One of my coworkers had to stop taking prescription Adderall because she had a heart attack under the age of 40. All medications have measured risks and things you should be aware of and to watch out for.

Another anon who read the tags on your last post here! I've felt the need to write something myself since your situation feels so similar to mine when I was younger and maybe my experiences will help you in some way. Feel free to not respond to this if it's uncomfortable, it's totally okay! :)

I also didn't have a supportive family when it came to my interests, still kind of don't. I'm 22 (soon to be 23) and my family members are still looking at me funny regarding my hobbies, just like they did when I was 14-15. It was weird for them to see a child… liking toys and shows made for kids I guess?? They've also said that I was mature for my age, but let me tell you this is INCREDIBLY coercive. ''Since we've called you mature, you wouldn't want to betray us and do something childish now, would you?'' - guys. Just because YOU'VE called me mature doesn't mean that it's true. Maybe I am mature but EMOTIONALLY or got good grades at school. But it doesn't necessarily mean that I will abandon anything that brings me comfort and joy for the sake of a byname that won't mean anything to me. Ever. I think that being mature also means accepting what is dear to you and not being ashamed of that. Being mature is being responsible for your own well being - which you do by enjoying your hobbies! By surrounding yourself with things that will make you get through life a bit easier. Throwing everything out, or denying ever liking said thing is the childish thing to me here.

It's good to read that you want to embrace who you are! After all - we only have one life to live. Why waste it on pleasing everyone around instead of ourselves? ESPECIALLY if it's a hobby that does NO HARM to anyone (well maybe except your wallet). Don't ever let go of what you love, unless YOU decide it's time to move on. I still keep my LPS collection after all those years, after being told countless of times to ''sell them, because you will save some good money'' or just to give them away. What if (stay with me here) I WILL decide what to do with MY property?

And regarding those people who've belittled you for your interests - I am still recovering from the same thing that happened almost a decade ago at school. But I've learned that not everyone behaves like those mean bullies - maybe some people are genuinely interested in what I have to say? Maybe we can bond over this? Maybe I can get a new friend who will accept my ''weird'' hobbies? And thanks to that mindset I've tried opening to more and more people, only to find out that those bullies were the MINORITY and usually people are glad to hear they're not alone in their hobbies or pleasant memories. It made me feel so much less anxious about myself, I can't recommend trying to open up enough!! Sorry if this ask got long, I had plenty of thoughts in my brain it seems, haha. i think it's kinda insane that adults expect children to immediately grow out of the things they like in favor of more "mature" interests and media. like, why can't that 13 year old watch my little pony? would you prefer it if they were watching that or something like euphoria? 😭 why is it so bad and weird when children are acting like children and want to engage with media that was literally created for them. that's something i don't think i'll ever understand

20 Questions for Fic Writers

I was tagged by @leviathiane thank you for thinking of me 🥺 I barely even feel like a fic writer at this moment, even though I keep writing fic - I wonder what that says about me 😂

I will answer this across all pseuds, including my omorashi pseud.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

72 (what the hell? when did I have time to write 72 things??)

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

277,511 I like statistics, so it's fun to me that that averages out to around 3850 words per fic. Nearly none (ok maybe 10ish?) of my fics are 4k words. Considering I have 18 fics under 1k and like 5 fics over 10k though - i see how this happened.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I am currently only really actively writing for Moriarty the Patriot, and I have previously been active in One Piece and Yugioh. I do have at least one fic from each of those two fandoms that I hope to come back to and finish, so I'm not fully out - just not currently writing there. ...I also have a pseud that exclusively contains a failed attempt at chronicling my magical kitties save the day campaign. There are other fandoms on my AO3 account but these are either alternate universes for my fanfic for one of those three fandoms, or archived tumblr meta analysis.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Well here is where the fandom bias comes in I think. Or... perhaps just that the small fandom I'm only consumed by very rare pairs. 5. Sanji's Respite (Rated T, cigarette smoke, platonic lawsan, One PIece 4. Shared Nightmares (Rated T, platonic lawbin, One Piece) 3. Doctor's Orders (Rated E, law/reader, omorashi, watersports, very inappropriate use of devil fruits (your organs be outside you now), D/s dynamic, One PIece) 2. Law's Introspection (Rated T, sequel to Sanji's Respite, please don't ask me how the sequel has more kudos than the first fic in the series, cigarette smoke, platonic lawsan, One Piece) 1. Conquest (Rated E, fighting marines as foreplay, competition, kidlaw, One Piece)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! I love talking in the comment section as a reader or a writer - it's so fun to talk about the characters we love, and fic is a good place to do it. There are so many smart fic writers out there too just UGH I've gotten so many cool reading recommendations, both original and fan work from my readers, and honestly those conversations are a major draw to actually posting at all for me. I am a little shy, but if you are in my comment section, it feels like it's probably ok for me to talk to you.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

If I didn't write alternate endings for the Emergency Contact series and consider this the alt ending the "true" ending, I'd say "Choke on My Words, Swallow Them Faster." (T-rated bad ending hanahaki fic from MTP angst week) -- SO many dead characters. But I think that the real answer should be "Lex Talionis" (E-rated katamar 'temporary character death' fic for OP).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This was fucking hard. I don't know that I write particularly happy endings. There are fics with resolved sexual tension. Fluff fics where things weren't ever sad to begin with. And a LOT of hurt and angst and badwrong. BUT I think I'm going to go with "Date Night" (Rated T, bondson, Moriarty the Patriot). James might get shot and there might be some tension because of it, but overall it's actually pretty hopeful and cute, the plot elements are treated pretty lightly, especially for me, and James & Miss Hudson are honestly pretty cute together, even if the world might not protect them and they know that.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I really get hate. I have had confusion/surprise before. I've had people who had wildly different interpretations of what I wrote than what I planned on writing. But never true hate.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Bahhahahahahah do I write smut. DO I write smut? It's not like 35 of the 72 fics are rated Explicit and another 14 are rated Mature. I write SO much smut al;kjdflk; I .. do not know how to succinctly answer "what kind." Unless you want like M/M & multi but ALSO there is a little het in my x reader stuff. There is a fair amount of more normal smut, a good amount of omorashi, and LOT of violent/consent violating/incestuous smut that is designed to leave you horny and uncomfortable about it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not usually as a rule but I do have a single true crossover between One Piece and Yugioh which is currently abandoned. I don't think it was particularly crazy, and it was my longest fic until Poison Paradise came around.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so. I don't know who the hell would be crazy enough for that tbh. I think if you are clout chasing you would choose something less fucked or more finished.

12. Have you had a fic translated?

Nope.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yeah! I co wrote two fics for Sherly week this spring. @cawcawkarasu helped me with alpha reading and direction + art for the fashion prompt, and @vitya-nikiforova co-wrote the fic we submitted for the "indulgence" prompt (porn tea)

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Such an short, innocuous question. What the fuck. AHHHH NO don't DO this to me. Prideshipping, yugioh. katamar, one piece. FUCK don't make me choose just one moriarty the patriot ship - basically any combination of the moribros & holmes brothers that isn't mylock or sherliam could probably be a top ship. Willis? Alwill? Sherlilouis? Sherlouis? Something like that.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but you doubt you ever will?

Hahahaha jokes on you that's so many wips. I guess I'll just list the one piece and yugioh fics I'm still holding out hope for: Chronology: A Case Study (the tattoo kaiba fic LITERALLY HAD THE LAST CHAPTER WRITTEN FIRST WHAT THE FUCK HERGAN. JUST FINISH IT ALREADY), Exothermic - I have a grand plan and it would be great to implement but I just don't have spoons for One Piece right now. Honestly Seek and Ye Shall Find also - it would be nice but i've given up. Live Stream too - the coding is just too much for me even though I know a lot of how it goes. And actually there is a yuumori fic here too: Welcome to Paradise. I suspect that I'm not going to want to return to pregnant Albert very often, unless somehow I get pregnant a second time and feel like I need to write about that experience. 16. What are your writing strengths ?

I think my writing tends to focus well on individual experience. I like to use physical sensation and limited perspective a LOT in my writing, and I feel like it is often very vivid and compelling.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Sticking with it when it gets difficult/I lose interest? And also probably just "happy moments." I definitely am not a great tooth-rotting fluff writer.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't mind the concept but I have had very little reason to do it. French would fit with the Victorians, but I just. am not a good French speaker. I don't think I would do it with any regularity.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Uhhhh fuck if I know. Lemme check FFN. Dear god. Uhhh I guess its a poem for something called "Midnighters"? I don't remember writing that tbh Or even what that fandom was.

20. Favorite fic you have ever written?

Oh damn I read this as "best" fic that you have written when I read your responses Depths, and I was like "oh I know that answer" but favorite? Ugh why are these HARD You know what. Poison Paradise is my pet fic and it has so many more words than any other chapter fic i've attempted. I really really want this to be the on that I finish. So let's choose that.
