It only kind of happened in the ofmd fandom - the Astroglide twitter account was being supportive of renewal efforts, doing watchalongs and stuff, so some people wrote mentions of Astroglide in their fics as a nod to that. I think it even had an ao3 tag. But then Astroglide switched social media people and that whole thing ended. Weird little relic of the early post-cancellation times, basically!

Green represents challenges that require some serious brainpower in turn for minimal physical interaction. Some examples of this include trivia questions (Quiz Show) and identifying spies (SpyCatcher).

Black represents challenges that contain several obstacles and, therefore, require high levels of physical activity. Examples include escaping a prison (Alcatraz) and blocking out a computer virus (Access).

Red represents challenges that are considered an equal balance between physical and mental tasks, needing both critical thinking and quick movements to get the job done. Examples include navigating through a haunted mansion (Spook House) and dancing your heart away on the dance floor (Dansa Pausa).

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

This is really hard to answer, actually? I guess I'll just put my Historian Hat on for a second, and I want to begin by saying that despise is way too strong of a word here for even what I'm able to comment on. But generally as someone who's long since had an interest in dress history research, I'm aware of the fact that while Stede's fashion sense is especially outlandish among his pirate compatriots, it's not inherently feminine within the context of the era. It was incredibly common for men, especially men of means, to wear colourful and decorated garments, printed cotton fabrics, decorative embroidery of various kinds - and wrapping gowns! The thinking man's casual wear! It really isn't until near the end of the 18th century that men's fashion fades down into the far more neutral and bland uniformity that we're still seeing reflections of in menswear today. (Look up the Great Male Renunciation if you want to learn more about the whys and wherefores of what happened there.) So it's not that "Stede likes to wear fancy colourful stuff and that's unmasculine of him" so much as it's a matter of scale. It's highly unusual that he has a wardrobe this comprehensive at sea, when seafaring folk often wore, you know, a small number of practical garments for the realities of being at sea for extended periods of time. (Consider checking out my episode of Never Left Podcast if you want to hear me waffle on more about historical dress practices as reflected in the show.) My point is, while his sensibility is attacked by the representatives of toxic masculinity in the show, there's nothing in his dress sense in and of itself that isn't representative of What Men Wore back then, actually. All of this to say when I see the presupposition that [insert contemporary frilly women's garment here] is Stede-coded or that he'd totally wear that, the answer to me is a resounding "would he though?" and my answer to that sub-question is "I honestly am uncertain, and I don't know if we're conflating non-toxic masculinity with character being feminine-coded or just running on vibes because gender is fake and wear what you want." This got away from me, sorry.

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

Anyone other than Ed! They're so singularly moony-eyed for each other that I don't really want or need to entertain any other possibilities. When I have tried to think about them, I just get sad because what if Ed misses him? Or inserting a third person into Ed and Stede's relationship doesn't feel like it's improving upon things in any way for me. Your mileage may vary and I don't really care what you ship, but if it's Stede with anybody else I probably have the tag muted.

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

Oof. Depends. Stede is such a singularly unique character that I really can't think of any one character that maps onto him. I don't know if it's a cop-out to name another Rhys Character but there's a strand of DNA between Stede and Anton, at least with their use of Leadership Rhyming Guidance (talk it through as a crew, werewolves not swearwolves). Bertie Wooster for the fact that I think they'd dig each other's fashion sense and both are so incredibly unsuited to being married to a woman it's hilarious. Doctor Julian Bashir for autistically infodumping to anyone who will listen and not always being the greatest at picking up on social cues, despite best efforts. (ETA omg they also both catch feelings for a guy who's very well established in a career they think is super cool, which they later learn is kind of violent and scary and not as cool as the books about it and also that said guy has suffered horribly at the hands of Toxic Masculinity and has trauma galore about it) (All of my blorbos are neurodivergent, but each in their own special way)

Y'all I know that when so-called AI generates ridiculous results it's hilarious and I find it as funny as the next guy but I NEED y'all to remember that every single time an AI answer is generated it uses 5x as much energy as a conventional websearch and burns through 10 ml of water. FOR EVERY ANSWER. Each big llm is equal to 300,000 kiligrams of carbon dioxide emissions.

LLMs are killing the environment, and when we generate answers for the lolz we're still contributing to it.

Stop using it. Stop using it for a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. We need to kill it.
