@mayoigotokurousagi LAST ONE OF YOURS here's Jin!!!
Jin is. . .he's a lot sweeter than you'd expect once his affinity gets high lol. . . . I FEEL LIKE I ENDED UP WITH A LOT OF COMMENTARY HERE. . .he just acts very different as affinity goes up, i have to point shit out haha
I've also amended this one to be all of his voicelines now!
May 27th 2025 edit for his year 2 birthday lines
Hello: (the first time the game is opened after that character is set as home screen NPC. Only happens once per day, unless the character is switched out and back.)
"Where the hell do you think you're going? Quit dawdling and help me get ready."
You've Got Mail: (whenever there's something in the inbox, usually Arena rewards)
"Hey, you've got mail. Don't tell me you're not going to open it. What if it was for me?"
Jin, why would your mail be in my. . .whatever
Default: (requires no affinity, has no time constraints)
"...Get to the point. The trash here is so long-winded."
"A party? I don't waste air on bootlickers. Try Tohma."
"Don't just stand there like an idiot. Hurry up. ...What? You got a problem? Spit it out."
"Kneel! Tsk... Where's {PC}? Bring her to my room." ……
"What? Your schedule's not my problem. Just arrange it around me."
Affinity 1: (between 5am and 11am)
"...Huh? I don't want to see your face at the crack of dawn. Get out." ……
given how vulgar his speech is sometimes i'm surprised he didn't say "asscrack of dawn"
Affinity 2: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Tell the chef I'm not in the mood for meat today." ……
Affinity 3: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"I'm not wasting my time fooling around with those brats today. If they're really that bored, just make them go on a low-ranking mission or something."
he's just barely avoiding making iPad kids out of Kaito and Lucas lmao
Affinity 4: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Put my dinner over there. I'll eat later if I feel like it."
i am once again asking the ghouls to FUCKING EAT PROPER MEALS.
Affinity 5: (between 8pm and 5am)
"I need more data for this case...  Go find Tohma, servant."
Affinity 6: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"A Class C anomaly? Miss me with that weak shit. Why do you think we have a Vice Captain?"
MISS ME WITH THAT WEAK SHIT I AM IN TEARS WHO TAUGHT YOU TO TALK LIKE THAT. . . .
Affinity 7: (between 11am and 4pm)
"What about class? Ha. What makes you think you can lecture me? Worry about yourself." ……
Affinity 8: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"You don't even know that? What do they teach here?" ……
I guess Jin has a good handle on the material and everything he'd need to know, as a third year. I say 'as a third year' but Alan didn't understand some of the basics so--
Affinity 9: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Bianerus! ...I'm not feeling it today. You can go."
Affinity 10: (between 10pm and midnight)
"It's late. We're done here. Leave." ……
Affinity 11: (between 5am and 11am)
"You're late. You've got some nerve making me wait, servant." ……
Affinity 12: (between 11am and 4pm)
"...I'm hungry. Go order lunch. For two." ……
i guarantee you the pc did not consider that he meant "i want to eat lunch with you" the first time this happened. she probably just thought "damn jin's hungry today."
Affinity 13: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"You have plans? Take a second and really think about whether your plans are more important than me before you open that mouth again."
Affinity 14: (between 5am and 11am)
"...Why are you so chatty today? Just pour my tea and get out of my face."
'stop trying to befriend me and go away' lmao
Affinity 15: (between 5am and 11am)
"You should be grateful I'm giving you the time of day this early in the morning."
Affinity 16: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Why do you look so worn out? If you're going to serve me, learn how to take better care of yourself. Tohma, take her to the infirmary."
why the infirmary. . .i don't think she needs a doctor i think she needs a nap. You're overworking her didn't Tohma tell you not to break her you donut
Affinity 17: (between 10pm and midnight)
"It's still early... You want to practice the waltz? Bold, aren't you? You're going to be sore tomorrow."
are we still. . .talking about the. . .dancing. . . .
Affinity 18: (between 8pm and 5am)
"You want to dine with me? Ha. All right. Show me if you've learned anything."
impromptu lesson on table manners!?
Affinity 19: (between 10pm and midnight)
"It's quiet tonight... Sit here, next to me. We're playing a duet. Don't give me that look. You'll know this song."
I previously used the expression names to describe his expression as 'pouting' and 'like a spoiled child' but he mostly just looks irritated lmaooo
Affinity 20: (between 5am and 11am)
"Waking me up every morning was your idea, so I'd better see you here tomorrow too. That's an order."
how quickly we go from "i don't wanna see your face first thing in the morning" to "i had better see your face every morning". . . . (it's not quickly at all. it's actually an incredibly slow process getting affinity up.)
Affinity 21: (between 11am and 4pm)
"...I was too active yesterday. Massage me, servant. ...What the hell was that? Put some muscle into it."
i love this one he's just like bitch what the fuck kinda weak ass massage is that put some back into it?????
Affinity 22: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"You don't know about dining etiquette? I don't have time for this... If you want me to teach you, I better see that nose on the grindstone."
we are reaching critical levels of "i need to make you presentable so you can meet my father" also I find it funny that this is after the "you wanna eat with me? let's see if you've learned anything" line. WHEN WERE THEY SUPPOSED TO HAVE HAD LEARNED OR DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO STUDY YOU AS YOU EAT
Affinity 23: (between 8pm and 5am)
"What's that? My helicopter, obviously. Quit gawking and get in."
get in servant idk where we're going but you are going with me
Affinity 24: (between 10pm and midnight)
"I've got plans early tomorrow. Your house is too far. Stay here tonight."
another expression note. . .he's looking away and putting his hand on the back of his neck here. He's shy, almost. Because he's not asking you to stay over to perform some task. It's not your usual master-servant dynamic. He just wants you close to him. As close as possible. He really is rather sweet.
Affinity 25(max): (no time constraints)
"Never learn, do you? I don't take you being here for granted. I know it won't last forever. That's all I'm going to say."
Jin makes a kind of sad face when he says it won't last forever. well, as sad as he can manage.
Tumblr media
He knows that once your curse is broken you'll probably go back to your ordinary life. If your curse can't be broken you'll die. And if you, for some reason, continue to stay at Darkwick even after being cured, he'll be a fourth year next year--he's gonna go off to do field work. Eventually he'll work in the highest levels of the Institute and eventually he'll take his father's place as the president. With all of this, there's no way you'll be able to be together, no matter what. This is a short lived burst of happiness and attachment for him. It means a lot more to him than you realize.
Spring: (March-May) (between 5am and 11am)
"(yawn) What's with that look? I'm not allowed to yawn?"
(between 11am and 4pm)
"The flowers you can see from the balcony? Yeah, I had them planted. ...My mother liked them."
the balcony bg and the front of frostheim background don't have flowers visible in them(i mean the balcony has potted plants but no flowers). . .i wonder what kind of flowers his mother liked. maybe the pc will grow them when they turn into a Kyklos.
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Sunset's supposed to be nice this time of year. Come on, servant. Before I change my mind."
(between 8pm and 5am)
"You're going to see the cherry blossoms tonight with the brats? Suit yourself. I doubt any of you can appreciate them."
'you guys are too poor to appreciate nice things'
Summer: (June-August) (between 5am and 11am)
"Those little shits are so loud this morning... They're worse than the cicadas. Tohma, go exterminate them."
MODS, PUT 'EM IN THE BLENDER.
(between 11am and 4pm)
"What kind of moron chooses to go out in the sun this time of year? Unless you want your brain to melt, stay here with me."
jin. . .this is frostheim. it is PERMANENTLY WINTER here, even to the point of that the day-night timing doesn't change. It's not hot unless we leave the boundaries of frostheim. . . . THIS IS A THINLY VEILED EXCUSE TO GET YOU TO STAY WITH HIM.
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"You've got tickets to a fireworks festival? The view's better from a helicopter. ...You've got guts thinking you can show me a good time, peasant."
'peasant' is worse than 'servant' in my opinion. . . .
(between 8pm and 5am)
"Haven't heard the sound of waves for a while... Get the speedboat. I'll drive."
jin just shoving you into various vehicles to take you places is really funny to me for some reason. you're like his purse dog. he just wants to take you everywhere even if it doesn't really benefit him to do so. also he can drive a speedboat????
Autumn: (September-November) (between 5am and 11am)
"I overworked myself. Go get Tohma. I was right having him get that PT license. I should have you get one too."
. . .doesn't that take like three years minimum in japan. . .how did you get him to get that. . .didn't he only meet you like two and a half years ago and you weren't even in the same house then. . .is that a darkwick offered course. . . .
(between 11am and 4pm)
"A pumpkin spice latte? I'm not drinking this saccharine garbage. Give the rest to the brats."
what do you think he is, a basic bitch like you? Not a big fan of sweets. Noted.
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"My favorite family vacation? Don't have one. This conversation is over."
(between 8pm and 5am)
"I don't play the piano because I like it. It's just force of habit."
Winter: (December-February) (between 5am and 11am)
"...Don't fucking wake me up. Come back later." ……
he hates the heat he hates the cold. . .well he also hates mornings in general. . . .
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Why is my name on this snowman? Tohma, give me your gloves. Whichever half-wit made this has shit for eyes."
"is that supposed to be me. . .? aw hell no i am fixing this shit"
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Tell the chef and the brats we're having a roast dinner tomorrow. Kobe beef. They know how I like it."
i like that the frostheim ghouls eat dinner together like a family. . .jin looks at Kaito and Lucas and goes 'those are my idiot sons. i cannot stand them.'
(between 8pm and 5am)
"You're staying here tonight, servant. I'll show you an aurora you couldn't even dream of."
see how this is worded differently from when he asks you to stay over because 'your house is too far away'? even when he's trying to be sweet to you, as long as he maintains your power imbalance he feels comfortable--he has something over you here--but trying to lay his feelings bare, just saying 'i want you to stay with me', that's so much more than he's used to saying.
His birthday (Year 1): (August 31st)
"A birthday party? This has Tohma written all over it, that asshole's always using me to— You're planning it? ...I'll think about it."
'that asshole tohma is trying to make me go outside aga--oh you're planning the party. oh. okay. maybe.'
His birthday (Year 2): (August 31st)
"What? You got me a present? …You can give it to me later. Come to my room in an hour."
he wants his present in private thank you u.u
Your birthday (Year 1):
"The song I just played? It's G. F. Handel. He wrote it for the queen's birthday."
in case you don't get the significance of what he's saying here. . .lemme fetch one of Tohma's lines for you--
"I'm no more than a servant. Frostheim is ruled by a king, you see."
my dude I think jin just called you his queen--only for your birthday though don't get cocky, servant
Your birthday (Year 2):
"Hey, servant. Did you get the package from Tohma yet? …No? Tch… What the hell is he doing…"
on one hand. . .did you not want to deliver the present yourself. . .on the other hand. . .TOHMA WHERE IS MY GIRL'S PRESENT LMAO. . .he's just trying to teach you that you should do things yourself Jin!
New Years: (January 1st)
"Hope you're ready for another year being at beck and call, servant. First up, my New Year's courtesy calls. Go do them for me."
'happy new year! your purpose is still serving me.'
Valentine's Day: (February 14th)
"What's that sad-looking box you're holding? ...Oh. No, don't throw it away. I'll take it."
jin is one of those characters who probably gets a mountain of chocolates given to him by admirers, all brand name and like from famous confectioners and shit. real nice fancy packages. so he sees your shitty little unprofessional homemade thing and is like 'tf is that' before he realizes it's for him and it's made with love and he just. . .ah. no, i want that, actually.
White Day: (March 14th)
"Keep your schedule open tonight. You're having a meal your peasant taste buds couldn't even dream of."
April Fool's Day: (April 1st)
"Hey, are you all right? ...Tsk. If that was a joke, it wasn't fucking funny. I've changed my mind. Cancel all my plans for the day."
i feel like Jin is about to put together the most elaborate prank and it's gonna hurt someone's feelings or get somebody hurt and no one will find it funny and he'll end up feeling super shitty. like that one spongebob episode.
Halloween: (October 31st)
"Where the hell's Tohma? Asshole sent the brats to my room to beg for candy. Next time I see him I'm going to wring his fucking neck."
okay but did you give them candy?
Christmas: (December 25th)
"Go tell Tohma what color dress you're wearing tonight. Why? Maybe I'll wear a matching ascot tie. If I feel like it."
Idle: (about 20 seconds without interacting with the game) (below 13 affinity)
"...Where the hell did she go?" ……
(13 affinity and above)
"Shit... This is throwing me off. Who does that servant think she is?" ……
he feels so wrong without you next to him aw
Absent: (logging in for the first time in 2 or more days?)
"...You've got guts abandoning your place at my back, servant. I'm going to have to retrain you." …………
ONCE AGAIN IT FEELS LIKE I PUT NEARLY ALL OF THEM IN IT'S ALL OF THEM NOW! The way he treats the pc in so many different ways but it makes sense with his character and feelings. . .as far as the home screen lines go, Jin definitely loves you in some capacity. He's actually quite clingy. . .i'm a little too sleepy for more coherent thought haha

Alastor x reader
🀥 Summary: You despised the TV Demon—the sound of his voice, his face, and especially his incessant news channel. But what happens when he finally says something worth listening to?
🀥 Warnings: fem!reader, slight angst, vulgar language, threats
🀥Word count: 965
Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V
“What?!”
“Wife?”
“Your who?”
“Fuck me, smiley! You bagged that?”
“OMG!!”
The barrage of reactions barely registered as a blonde girl in a bright red suit jumped in front of you. Before you could process her manic energy, she grabbed your hand, shaking it aggressively.
“It’s so, so, so amazing to meet you!” she squealed, her words coming out in a rushed blur. “Alastor’s terrifyingly aggressive wife. I mean, wow. That’s… definitely not something any of us expected.” She let out an awkward laugh, glancing nervously at the Radio Demon. “But we’re happy to have you here, nonetheless. I’m Charlie Morningstar, the owner of this hotel.”
You blinked at her, your face contorting in disgust. This girl is nuts.
She finally let go of your hand and turned to Alastor, her bubbly expression shifting to something more accusatory. “Alastor, why didn’t you tell us you have a wife?”
You sneered, crossing your arms. “Don’t stress it, sweetheart. He just forgot he had one. Probably why he vanished for almost a decade without so much as a goodbye.”
Charlie’s shoulders dropped as her gaze darted between the two of you. “I can see you two need a moment.” She gestured for the others to leave the room, her voice quieter now.
“No need,” Alastor interjected smoothly, his tone unnervingly calm. “(Y/N) was just leaving.”
You turned on him, fury sparking in your eyes. “No, I wasn’t.”
Before you could say more, he grabbed your arm and led you toward the door. “Yes. You were.”
Yanking your arm free, you jabbed a finger into his chest, your voice rising. “You don’t get to kick me out or order me around. Not now, not ever. I’ll stay if I damn well feel like it.”
Alastor’s expression didn’t falter, but his voice dropped to a dangerous murmur as he leaned close to your ear. “Darling, you are making a scene.”
Over his shoulder, you caught the awkward stares of the other demons lingering in the doorway.
“Fuck you,” you spat, shoving past Alastor. The door slammed behind you as you left the hotel, your blood boiling with every step.
╭──╯ . . . . . . . . . . ╰──╮
You prided yourself on being calm and collected. But now? Now, you were raging.
“That filthy, insolent bastard!” you snarled, pacing the room like a caged animal. Each step felt heavier, your thoughts swirling in a tempest of anger and humiliation. “He thinks he can embarrass me like this? Over and over again?”
You stopped, staring blankly at your reflection in the cracked mirror. The sound of your own scoff filled the room, bitter and hollow. “Rehabilitation for sinners. That’s a good one. Amazing! The best place for that fucker!” You let out a sharp, manic laugh, but it didn’t quite reach your eyes. “Redemption my ass. Not even God Himself could redeem his soul.”
Your hands trembled as you ran your fingers through your disheveled hair, tugging hard enough to sting. The tears came without warning, welling up in your eyes and blurring your vision. But you blinked them away quickly, biting down on the lump in your throat. Weakness was not an option—not now, not ever.
“He’s not worth this,” you muttered under your breath, though the ache in your chest told you otherwise. You clenched your fists, nails digging into your palms, as if the physical pain could somehow drown out the fury burning inside you.
Shards of glass littered the floor, glittering like cursed jewels in the dim light. The bed was nothing more than a heap of splintered wood and shredded fabric. The walls bore fresh scars—jagged holes punched through them in fits of fury. And yet, none of it made you feel better.
Alyssa cautiously approached, her hooves clicked softly against the floor, and her hands gripped her clipboard like a lifeline.
“M-my lady?” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “Is there anything I can do for you? A glass of wine? Maybe we can visit the spa while your room is cleaned?”
You turned to her, your glare sharp enough to cut through steel. Alyssa froze, her eyes wide, and quickly took a step back. You would never hurt her—or any of your people—but the tension in the air was suffocating.
“The only thing that can calm me down right now,” you growled, pointing to the pile of rubble that used to be your bed, “is Alastor’s impaled head hanging over that bed frame.”
Alyssa swallowed hard and nodded, choosing not to push further.
You closed your eyes, forcing yourself to take a deep breath. Anger wasn’t natural for you—not like this. You hated losing control, hated the destruction it left behind. With a snap of your fingers, the room repaired itself in an instant. The glass shards disappeared, the walls smoothed over, and the bed returned to its pristine state.
For a brief moment, everything looked perfect again. But it didn’t feel that way.
Your gaze fell to your hand, where your wedding band gleamed faintly. The ring gleamed in the dim light, mocking you. You clenched your fists, trying to shove the memories down where they belonged—but they refused to stay buried. The sight of it sent another surge of anger through you. With a growl, you yanked it off and hurled it across the room.
The walls felt too close, the air too thick. Staying here wasn’t an option. You needed to leave before the anger swallowed you whole. And there was only one place you could think of to go.
Straightening your back, you took a deep breath. “I’m going out,” you said, your voice calm but still simmering with anger.
Alyssa blinked, her expression shifting from fear to concern. “Again?” she asked hesitantly.
You nodded, already heading for the door. “I’m going to see a friend.”

uhhh fuck it: reverse-translating all the japanese in aftg 5
Tumblr media
i guess this is what i'm up to these days??? i'm so terminally bored i'm ctrl+f searching "japanese" in all the aftg books by nora sakavic. turns out aftg 5 (the golden raven) is the only one with actual legible japanese (i.e., japanese written as english, instead of just "and then he spoke japanese"). so uhhhhh yeah let's translate that!!
note: i'm going to include some rōmaji (latin transliterations) in this post, just in case it breaks langblr containment!
anyways, let's get into it. here's our first of three:
jean rounded on kevin and did the only thing he could: he slipped into japanese and said, "don't make me do this." (175)
ooh, this is very english, especially "do" as a filler verb. japanese doesn't often use する this way, but we'll use it here due to context.
let's check out "make me" first. in japanese we've got the causative form:
〜させる* = to make or let (someone) do ~
which is fine and good, but we've got to make it clear that we mean make and not let (which is probably the more common usage). to do so i'm going to use this adverb:
無理(むり)やり = by force, against one's will; forced (i.e., not natural or obvious)
with this, there's no way you could read the sentence as *don't let me do this or similar.
lastly, we should get the flavor of the imperative (command) right. we could use the true blue negative imperative, させるな, but i don't think that quite matches jean's tone here, which is much more like begging. so, let's use 〜てください, or more specifically, the rough version 〜てくれ—in the negative, of course!
putting all these together, we get my reverse translation:
無理やりさせないでく。 = (lit.) please don't make me. = "don't make me do this." transliteration: muriyari sasenaide kure.
i'm pretty satisfied with this! we could maybe get a more specific verb in there, but that's less to do with the translation and more with the source text.
*of course, this form shows up as 〜あせる in 五段 verbs :)
2. 〜てもらいな = get them to ~
this one is long, a veritable speech:
kevin ignored her and answered in japanese. "have jeremy take you outside for some air. i will inform hannah we will not be answering any of these questions. if she refuses to back down, we will leave. i will message jeremy with the decision either way." (175)
i'll be honest, this one took me a while—it was tough, but fun. (also, kevin is my favorite character, so i wanted him to sound right!) let's go sentence-by-sentence:
have jeremy take you outside for some air.
tricky right off the bat! what are we supposed to do with "have jeremy take you"? probably we should use 〜てもらう, which usually comes up in cases of receiving. after all, kevin is basically instructing jean to "receive" an action from jeremy. because this is a sports anime, we could have kevin use the rough imperative もらえ, but we could ALSO have him be slightly nicer (but still authoritative), since jean was once his mentee/mob partner/co-captive/etc. just bc i like the tone of it, let's do the nicer-but-authoritative one using the shortened 〜なさい form:
honestly, this is much wordier in japanese than in english, which i don't completely like. we could probably delete 外で (= outside) and lose a bit of specificity but keep all the essentials if we wanted.
next sentence:
2. i will inform hannah we will not be answering any of these questions.
idk about you guys, but in my english, "will not be ~ing" essentially means "refuse to ~", so that's how i'll translate this sentence. also, because kevin is going to use reported speech ("hannah, we will not..."), i'll put that portion in 敬語 (respectful language). as we know, kevin is a perfect publicity boy, so he would definitely be appropriately and maximally formal in these situations. lastly, he's emphasizing that he will take care of hannah and that jean doesn't have to worry about it, so i'll put in 俺 with emphatic が.
next!
3. if she refuses to back down, we will leave.
again, "refuses to back down" isn't extremely wordy in english, but in japanese, something like 譲るのを拒む is very wordy, so i'm going to switch this to something more like "won't yield" using 〜てくれる.
and lastly:
4. i will message jeremy with the decision either way.
i'm actually going to change the sentence structure a little bit here: instead of saying "with the decision," i'll write it as "once it's decided" (using 〜たら). i'm also going to use 〜てあげる instead of the rougher 〜てやる, because again, i'm having kevin be slightly nicer to jean out of like vestigial cult survivor affection. (also, he's talking about jeremy, who's his hero/憧れの人!) and lastly, i'll end the sentence on the particle combo からさ to express something authoritative yet reassuring, like so you don't need to worry about it (which we got a little bit of in sentence 2 as well).
now, we actually have something of an interesting task: putting it all together. in the english kevin just rapid-fires off all these statements, but in japanese we like a lot more transition words, so i'm going to combine and reverse the first two sentences.
= (lit.) i'm going to tell hannah we refuse to answer these questions, so get jeremy to take you outside for a breather. = "have jeremy take you outside for some air. i will inform hannah we will not be answering any of these questions." transliteration: ore ga hanna ni konna shitsumon okotowari shimasu to tsutaete kuru kara, jeremī ni soto de kyuukei de mo tsurete itte moraina.
then, the next two sentences will go in regular order:
譲ってくれないならやめよう。とにかく決まったらジェレミーに連絡したげるからさ。 = (lit.) if she won't back down, we'll give up. in any case, once it's decided, i'll contact jeremy [so you don't have to]. = "if she refuses to back down, we will leave. i will message jeremy with the decision either way." transliteration: yuzutte kurenai nara yameyou. tonikaku kimattara jeremī ni renraku shitageru kara sa.
and just for thoroughness, i'll compile the japanese:
俺がハンナにこんな質問お断りしますと伝えてくるから、ジェレミーに外で休憩でも連れて行ってもらいな。 譲ってくれないならやめよう。とにかく決まったらジェレミーに連絡したげるからさ。 transliteration: ore ga hanna ni konna shitsumon okotowari shimasu to tsutaete kuru kara, jeremī ni soto de kyuukei de mo tsurete itte moraina. yuzutte kurenai nara yameyou. tonikaku kimattara jeremī ni renraku shitageru kara sa.
phew! that was a long haul, but i'm pretty happy with how it came out, especially kevin's tone. let's look at the last one!
3. やってやらねーわ = no way in hell
i like this quote in english a lot, so the pressure is on for me:
in weary japanese, kevin said, "our damage control needs damage control. i will never do an interview again." (179)
ooh, tasty! this isn't exactly a joke, since he obviously means it, but there is some sarcasm in there. japanese....doesn't do sarcasm very well (lol), so we're going to have to make it a little more literal. let's do the joke first:
1. our damage control needs damage control.
this sentence basically means our damage control is insufficient, which would translate into japanese really succinctly and comprehensibly—while, of course, completely losing the sarcasm. our other option is to force the sarcasm into a bit of a wordier/weirder sentence:
i like both of these, but for the sake of being loyal to japanese, i'm going to stick with the first one. at the very least, using the rough 〜ねー negative gets across how fed up he is.
now, let's do the follow-up:
2. i will never do an interview again.
i'll interpret this as something like, "i'll never deign to give them an interview ever again," using 〜てやる, because he actually IS being a huge bitch here. that way we can enjoy using this extremely rough form which he hasn't been using with jean and give it a flavor of no way in hell. lastly, i'll add なんか for disdain and the masculine sentence-final particle わ for emphasis:
funnily enough, i feel like the sarcasm comes through much more clearly in this second sentence. and here's our final translation:
ダメコン足りねー。もう2度とインタなんかやってやらねーわ。 = (lit.) our damage control is not cutting it. no way in hell i'm giving [them/anyone] a stupid interview ever again. = "our damage control needs damage control. i will never do an interview again." transliteration: damekon tarinee. mou nido to inta nanka yatte yaranee wa.
am i completely satisfied with this? honestly, no, but i think it gets the job done. some of the problem just comes from the way the dialogue is set up, which would be a problem for an ACTUAL translator to fix (lol).
what did we learn...?
weirdly, we learned (or i learned) that i really want to put 関西弁 (kansai/western japanese) into all this sports anime ass dialogue (lol). i resisted since it wouldn't match the tone, assuming that kevin and jean learned how to speak from a tokyo mafia prince, but maybe if jean speaks marseilles french he'd actually be pretty down with getting into some 関西弁!
also, as i've mentioned a couple times, i found the sentence structure of these quotes to be really wonky if you translate them straight to japanese. i messed with it a little but, but definitely not enough for it to sound like regular japanese (i don't think). that wasn't exactly my mission here, so i'll let it go as a problem for another, rainier day, but i think it's important to note. (actually, my opinion is that some of this sentence structure is pretty awkward in english as well...but since she's writing drama, the dialogue doesn't HAVE to sound like real people, ofc.)
and lastly, we (i) learned (remembered) that i love kevin day!! heinous bitch!! <33
anyways thanks for sticking with me for a pretty unusual episode of "sasha uses this blog for whatever the hell she wants"....hopefully it was interesting even if you don't know the source material! as always, great work and 疲れ様でした!!

A beautiful and interesting name I'd never seen before! 善如寺 is read Zennyōji or Zennyoji. It belongs to only about 480 people, but all the kanji are quite useful!
善 can be read よ. It means virtue, goodness, or good. Specifically, it means good as in morally good, or good in an elevated context; for everyday normal things that are pleasant or agreeable, use 良い (also read よ.い or い.い).
如 means in the manner of, like, or the same as. It's read ごと.
寺 is read てら or ジ. It's the reason that, for a second, I assumed that this house was a very, very boring-looking temple. (More on actual temple and shrine names here.)
Also, 寺 is useful as a radical too!
侍 (+亻person) = Samurai
待 (+ 彳 going-person) = Wait
持 (+ hand) = Hold, have
詩 (+ 言 word) = Poem, poetry
特 (+ 牛 cow) = Special
時 (+ 日 day) = Time
痔 (+ 疒 sickness) = Hemorrhoids
等 (+ 竹 bamboo) = Etc.

Trial 1 - John Doe Voice Drama (Side-by-Side English Translation)
Preface: I’ll say this upfront: The John Doe VD translation on YouTube has a lot of mistranslations. Some things are just pulled out of thin air, especially with Kotoko’s dialogue. I hope this translation can help clear things up and, since the original text from the scriptbook is also provided, you are free to double check the translations itself and develop your thoughts from there. As Yamanaka has said in his Twitter (A shallow understanding from someone on the outside can feel just as violent as a direct attack). Translators have an ethical duty to respect the original writers and the speech community (the language and its culture) in their translations. Otherwise, it can contribute to a lot of harm. Especially when it comes to portrayals of persons that come from and are shaped by our present-day world, mistranslations of the themes found in this series can result in a lot of violence down the line. Google Docs version of this translation. If using/reuploading/reposting this translation, do not remove the translator's notes, do not color code the translations, and do not change the translations. Any additional Translator's Notes will be found in the replies. Check the original post before reblogging as TLs are occasionally revisited and edited.
A dimly lit interrogation room.
Mikoto is sitting on a chair in the interrogation room, legs dangling, looking bored. Suddenly, he lets out a deep sigh. Unbeknownstly, he looked up towards the heavens. MIKOTO: …What am I doing in a place like this? I… ES: Truth be told, I wonder that as well. MIKOTO: Ah-! ES: Well, it’s MILGRAM’s job to make that clear. Before you knew it, the door to the interrogation room was open and ES stared at MIKOTO. MIKOTO gasps—startled—and almost falls out of the chair. MIKOTO: Hold on-! Don’t scare me like that, Warden-kun! Isn’t it common sense to knock before opening a door? ES: Shut up, don’t tell me what to do. MIKOTO: Isn’t that tyrannical of you though?! ES disregards MIKOTO’s words indifferently, taking none to heart, and sits in the chair opposite to him. They cross their legs arrogantly. MIKOTO: Hey, hey- no- Despite calling it an “interrogation”... I’m really not hiding anything. [T/N: Calling something an “interrogation” implies questioning someone in order to get information that may or may not be hidden. Interrogations can sometimes use threats or violence. Age. MIKOTO: Uh, well… Mikoto Kayano, 23 years-old… Ah, well I’ve been meaning to talk to you for a while, Warden-kun. [T/N: ES uses the katakana spelling of ミコト (mikoto) which frames and highlights MIKOTO’s difference from Es, him the Prisoner and Es the Warden. Katakana is typically used for words with an outsiderness (ex. foreign loanwords), for emphasis, and/or to make something seem “louder” in some aspect. However, MIKOTO uses kanji spelling of his name 榧野尊 (kayano mikoto) which is the proper and legal way, attributing to him a groundedness in humanity compared to the alienation that spelling something in katakana can make. This is why, instead of translating 榧野尊 as “MIKOTO KAYANO”, it was translated into “Mikoto Kayano” instead.] ES: What? Make it short. MIKOTO: Hey, when is this going to end? ES: Hah? ES looks puzzled. They were not expecting MIKOTO’s question. Seeing this, MIKOTO gets fired up. MIKOTO: No-! Of course! Look- I was suddenly brought to this place and-! Telling me things I don’t understand like being a "murderer"… Is this some sort of prank? A reality TV show? Where I’m being monitored?!! I thought that that was what I was trying to endure!?! That’s why I was getting along with everyone else! If it was TV, you have to be careful with how you look! But, but! It’s been going on for way too long!?! What is this! [T/N: ヒトゴロシ (hitogoroshi) “murderer” is spelled with katakana. In order to translate over the vibes that gives highlight and distance to the word, "murderer" is placed within quotation marks.] ES: Ha… You still think that? That MILGRAM is some kind of funny little joke? MIKOTO: I really do… Of course I’d do!
MIKOTO is breathing heavily, calming his breathing down little-by-little, a despondent look on his face. MIKOTO: …Because I, myself, really don’t remember anything. Even if you say I committed a crime or "murdered" someone, I really don’t know anything… I’m just your standard, everyday lowly office worker… ES: Hm… MIKOTO: What’s up with you? A person’s talking seriously and you’re here grinning. ES: …Come to think of it, this is the first time a prisoner’s tried to feign ignorance saying, “I really don’t have any recollection of anything whatsoever.” MIKOTO: I’m not feigning it! Seriously! I really don’t know! Look, look into my eyes! Look! MIKOTO holds ES by the shoulders and turns them to face him directly, looking intently into their eyes.
ES: Don’t touch me. You’re being too casual. [T/N: Alternatively translated as: “Don’t touch me. You’re being too buddy-buddy [when you’re a Prisoner and I’m the Warden].” which preserves the implications/nuances.]
MIKOTO: C’mon, just look at me seriously! MIKOTO: So? I’m being truthful, right? ES: Who knows. Do you expect me to say, “You don’t look like you’re lying” or something? I don’t make judgements based on vague things like that.
MIKOTO is losing his patience, annoyed at the lack of progress in the conversation. He takes his hands off of ES’ shoulders. MIKOTO: Ah c’mon..! No- Wait a second. Warden-kun has no idea what I did in the first place, right? ES: Ah, I have absolutely no clue. MIKOTO: What’s with that! Because of that, isn’t it oppressive of you to brand me a “murderer”? [T/N: 横暴 (ougou) can mean violence, oppression, tyranny. When MIKOTO says “Isn’t it oppressive of you” there’s a sense of him calling ES’ action of branding him a label as serious as “murderer” even though ES has no idea what he did or if he really did commit a crime (since ES is going off of what Jackalope/MILGRAM told them) violent— something that hurts, damages, or even kills.] ES: There’s no correlation in that. MILGRAM said that you’re a murderer. That’s enough for me. MIKOTO: Why are you just blindly entrusting your belief to that? There’s no sense to it… ES: … MIKOTO: Anyway, I honestly have no idea. I haven’t killed anyone. I haven’t done anything bad. I’ve just been diligently living an ordinary life and yet- I get caught up in some weird, suspicious thing- what’s with that! [T/N: By "weird, suspicious thing" he means MILGRAM.] MIKOTO is getting more and more irritated, unconsciously standing up from his chair. At the same time, he slowly lowers his raised fist. MIKOTO: …I want to believe that that’s just a joke…I want to think that this… MIKOTO: I have a life, y’know? I toiled so hard just to get into the company of my dreams… If I get fired, you better take responsibility… [T/N: Being fired in Japan is an arduous task. Generally, if you get fired, you need to make sure that you: (1) get the certificate of dismissal/reason for firing; (2) go through the process of switching your pension and insurance; (3) make sure you get your unemployment insurance/severance pay/compensation; and optionally (4) contest the firing. There’s a lot of paperwork involved and the way companies are structured makes it a pain + take a long time to get anything done. Not to mention the emotional labor it takes to deal with bureaucracy since it’s not unheard of that employers can gaslight or be hostile.]
ES: …I see. How interesting. MIKOTO: What’s so interesting? ES grins, genuinely amused. They clap their hands in an exaggerated manner. ES: Alright, for now, why don’t we go ahead and talk under that assumption of yours? …A thought experiment. MIKOTO, you haven’t done anything. MIKOTO: Yes! That’s right, Warden-kun! ES: For now. For now, let’s pretend you’re not Prisoner Number 9 MIKOTO. That’s right, you’re just MIKOTO-kun. MIKOTO: That’s right, let’s go with MIKOTO-kun! I’ll also put in the effort and call you “Su-kun” [T/N: The “effort” MIKOTO’s putting in is more so “affection” (親愛, shin ai). Alternatively translated as: “I’ll also put in some dear effort and call you “Su-kun"] エス 「それはいらん。調子に乗るな」 ES: That’s unnecessary. Don’t get carried away. ミコト 「ええ……」 MIKOTO: Eeh…? ミコトに近づき、見上げるようににらみつけるエス。 ES approaches MIKOTO, glaring up at him. [T/N: There’s wordplay here with ミコトに近づき (mikoto ni chikadzuki). Chikadzuki can mean “approach” but it also means “making acquaintance with someone”. In the context of the interrogation, ES is both approaching MIKOTO and making acquaintance, getting to know him.] エス 「付き合ってやるかわりに一旦僕の言っていることを事実だと飲みこめ、ミルグラムはショーなどではなく現実だ」 ES: In exchange for going along with it, for now you’ll have to swallow what I’m saying as fact and that MILGRAM isn’t some show. It’s reality. ミコト 「ううん……えっと、ここがヒトゴロシを集めている施設ってこととか?それを歌と映像で云々とか?」 MIKOTO: Uh… so, this is some sort of institution or facility that assembles "murderers"? Through song and mental footage and stuff? エス 「そうだ。お前の言うことだけを言じるならば、お前以外の9人は全員ヒトゴロシだ」 ES: That’s right. If we’re only going by what you say, the other nine people are all murderers. ミコト 「そんな場所にいるのヤバすぎるでしょ。みんな全然そんな人たちに見えないし……ほら、そもそも小学生いるんだよ?」 MIKOTO: Isn't it way too dangerous to be in a place like that? None of them seem like a person who could do something like that at all… Look, why’s there even an elementary schooler here?
ES furrowed their eyebrows at MIKOTO’s words. ES: …You shouldn’t say that to AMANE. It’ll just become a hassle. MIKOTO: Huh? Why? ES: Well, I can understand where you’re coming from. I also learned this while interrogating people- The impression of a person is inevitably influenced by their external appearance. MIKOTO: Isn’t it~? Yun-chan and Mu-chan are just high school girls. Haru-kun has a face that looks like he can’t even kill a bug, and Fuuta doesn’t seem like he can even steal an umbrella. And see- Mappi just seems like a good person. Uh, as for Kazu-san and Shidou-san… Well, there’s a chance that Koto-chan might have done something like that 'cause of her vibes.  [T/N: Umbrellas get stolen so often in Japan that it’s not strange to think that a normal person would steal one at some point, implying that MIKOTO thinks that Fuuta wouldn’t even do something bad that’s seemingly normalized/follow common behaviors.] ES: …I’ll take your character evaluations into consideration, MIKOTO-kun. Nevertheless, they are the humans MILGRAM selected. Without a doubt, they are connected to someone’s death. [T/N: The “they” そいつら (soitsura) in “they are the humans MILGRAM selected” has derogatory connotations with it. Also, people who use the term 間違いなく (machigai naku) are generally thought of as people who are prideful or perfectionists.] MIKOTO: Uhuh… Well, alright then. I’ll believe that for now.
MIKOTO relents, a bitter look on his face. ES points their finger sharply. ES: Well then. Why do you believe that the Innocent MIKOTO-kun was chosen for such a place? ES: Oh? MIKOTO: If we ignore the finer details of MILGRAM's criteria for judgement… it could be that it’s a blunder from something like having the same name, similar external appearance or something. ES: You’re saying that it’s a MILGRAM malfunction? [T/N: Alternatively translated into: “You’re saying that it’s a failure on MILGRAM’s part?” 誤作動 (gosadou) can mean malfunction; failure; operating incorrectly.] MIKOTO: Yeah, yeah, that’s right. I can’t think of anything else that it could possibly be. ES: Really? Frankly, I can think of one thing coming to mind. ES looks at MIKOTO’s face. ES: You’ve forgotten that you’ve killed a person. MIKOTO’s eyes widened at ES’ words. MIKOTO: Huh? Forgotten? That you killed a person? Is that even possible? ES: You’re not lying; MILGRAM is correct; if you’re to accept both clauses, it’s only natural to arrive at this answer. [T/N: The 正しい (tadashii) in “MILGRAM is correct” can mean “correct”, “right”, “righteous”/“just”, “proper” etc.] MIKOTO: Forgotten… Me? Killing a person…? ES: They say that humans sometimes put a lid on memories in order to avoid stress. For example, dissociative amnesia. MIKOTO: …S-stress? No, no way- There’s no way I could’ve killed someone while not even knowing it- That can’t be possible… ES: …I have no choice but to consider something along these lines if I’m going to believe your statements. I trust MILGRAM more than I believe in you. There’s no doubt about that. いや……いやいや」 MIKOTO: …No….No, no- エス 「看守として、断言しよう。 ES: As Warden, let’s go ahead and assert this: You. are. a. murderer. MIKOTO: Wait a minute- No, no, no- Time out time out- …You’re driving me crazy…please stop it. You keep saying such… awful things…
MIKOTO scratches his head in frustration. Seeing this, ES takes a deep breath. MIKOTO: Without knowing it…becoming a murderer…haha- there’s no way, no way… ES: Hmph. Let’s give it some time. Tugging in the threads of your memory would do you some good. As MIKOTO groans in a voiceless voice, ES turns their back and walks away. [T/N: 声にならない声 (koe ni naranai koe) “voiceless voice” has a nuance that you’re being assaulted with the emotions welling up in your heart that you can’t express into words.] ES: A murderer who has no memory of killing people… If that’s the case… how should I think about this… ES walks around the room, muttering to themself.
MIKOTO: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! ES: !? MIKOTO strikes ES hard with a chair. ES, being light, gets flown across and slams into the wall. MIKOTO: Aaaaah!!! MIKOTO continues on, throwing the chair with all his might, making a large noise. ES: Guh-! Wh… What are you- MI- KOTO…!?! MIKOTO: Hah…hah…hah…!!! ES can’t make sense of the situation. MIKOTO’s eyes are bloodshot, breathing heavily- wildly, like he’s a different person. ES: Ack… You can attack me..!? T-there’s no way… MIKOTO: Aaaaaah! Fuck! Fucker-! You’re so fucking annoying!! [T/N: MIKOTO’s accent has changed. Before, he was speaking in a typical, standard Japanese accent you’d hear from people in Tokyo (not Tokyo accent, just standard Japanese accent).] ES: Prisoners shouldn’t be able to attack the Warden!! MIKOTO: Shut the fuck up, you piece of shit!! MIKOTO stomps down on ES with all his might. ES: Augh-! Guh…! MIKOTO: Yapping on and on and on- I’ll fucking beat you to death, piece of shit!! ES: Ngh-…! Guh…!!
Another stomp, then another. Again, and again, and again. MIKOTO: Going on and on and on-! Acting all high and mighty like you aren’t just a kid! Serves you fuckin’ right-! っ…… ES: …re..member… MIKOTO: Ha!? I can’t hear you! You’re nothing more than an unimportant brat, a fuckin’ nobody!! Despite being injured and bleeding from the mouth, the light in ES’ eyes doesn’t disappear. They glare at MIKOTO. MIKOTO: Ha-? Heh- Hahahahahahaha! You prefer it when it hurts more, huh? MIKOTO picks up a chair laying around. Slowly raising it above his head. ES: Guh… MIKOTO: That’s fine. I’ll crush your face in as much as you want… ES: …Go ahead… and try… MIKOTO: As you wish! RAAAAAAAAARGHH! [T/N: The -やってやるよ (-yatte yaru yo) in 望み通りやってやるよ (nozomi doori yatte yaru yo) adds a cheeky nuance of “doing the action for the sake of fulfilling ES’ wish (“go ahead and try”)”.]
The moment MIKOTO’s about to bring the chair down, a kick meets his side. KOTOKO: Hmph!
MIKOTO: Gah-!? MIKOTO falls along with the chair, a loud noise emanating. He staggers up to his feet, clutching his head. MIKOTO: …ugh. Aaargh-! What’s with you?! ES: !? You…! KOTOKO: Looks like you narrowly escaped death, Warden-san. [T/N: KOTOKO talks in a feminine way, as demarcated by her usage of わ (wa). Her mature feminine way of speaking is found all throughout all the VDs she’s featured in.] ES: Kotoko… Why… KOTOKO: I’ll tell you later. MIKOTO: …Each and every one of them… MIKOTO launches himself at her. KOTOKO readies into stance. MIKOTO: YOU ALL PISS ME OOOOOOOFFF! [T/N: 俺 (ore) pronoun is spelled with kanji in John Doe. Whereas in Neoplasm, ore is spelled in katakana as オレ] コトコ 「……!」 KOTOKO: …! KOTOKO dodges MIKOTO’s wide swing with minimal movement. MIKOTO: Gah-! Fuck! Stop fuckin’ around with me! [T/N: It sounds like MIKOTO’s speaking in a Yonezawa dialect/accent. ちょこまか (chokko maka) is a phrase you’d typically hear from the Yonezawa dialect. Yonezawa is a city in the Yamagata prefecture, in the Tohoku region. In Neoplasm, MIKOTO speaks in Kanto region accent/dialect and Edo dialect/roughspeak. Meanwhile, in his Trial 3 voicelines, MIKOTO speaks with a Kansai region dialect in some lines. Insofar, as of Trial 3, it's possible that he's spoken in 4 dialects/accents.] KOTOKO: Hah-! Ngh-! …Seems as if it’s motions that a typical, ordinary person would make. MIKOTO: SHUT IT!!! KOTOKO: Ngh…!
KOTOKO staggers back from the force of MIKOTO’s kick. She seems perplexed by the power of the blow, which was greater than she could’ve expected. KOTOKO: I couldn’t have imagined that a strike with that amount of force could’ve come from someone with a muscle mass like his. [T/N: It's implied that MIKOTO lacks muscle mass which is why KOTOKO thought a strike with that amount of force was inconceivable/unthinkable. Also, the way KOTOKO is talking sounds like she’s verbally taking notes on MIKOTO’s behaviour/aptitude/and other information.] あああ」 MIKOTO: So fucking persistent, fucking annoying…  Aaargh!! KOTOKO: Drawn-out battles are rather troublesome. MIKOTO: RAAAAAAAARGH! KOTOKO: Sigh… MIKOTO leaps at her, but KOTOKO delivers a high kick. KOTOKO: Hmph-! MIKOTO: Gah-... ES: …Ha- Knocking him out in just one high kick… MIKOTO falls with a thud, his body collapsing like a string cut in half. KOTOKO claps her hands. KOTOKO: Hah… Be grateful. It only required him losing consciousness in order to resolve the situation. Are you alright, Warden-san? お前」 ES: …Cough…KOTOKO…You- コトコ 「なに」 KOTOKO: What? ES: …Did you sneak in as you pleased before the interrogation was even summoned…? KOTOKO: Ha? You’re not trying to reproach me, are you? If I hadn’t been waiting—taking notes—, you would be dead. ES: …Why were you in the interrogation room? KOTOKO: Because I’d been observing Mikoto Kayano’s odd behaviors. It’s all too noticeable since I’m in the room next door. ES: …Why did you help me? KOTOKO: Because your existence is beneficial to me as well. [T/N: KOTOKO is using あなた (anata) “you” which can imply a closeness or fondness. Alternative translation of this line: “Because your existence is advantageous to me as well.” ES: That explains nothing… コトコ 「……そうね、そこら辺は私の番で答える。順番抜かしをするつもりはないから」 KOTOKO: …Is that so? I’ll answer that when it’s my turn. I don’t intend to cut in line. エス 「……」 ES: … コトコ 「郷に従うよ、今のところはね」 KOTOKO: In Rome, do as the Romans do. For now, that is. [T/N: 郷に従う (gou ni shitagau) means “in a place/social group, you should behave in accordance with the customs and traditions of that place/group, even if the values differ from your own”. It’s a clipping of the proverb 郷に入っては郷に従え (gou ni itte wa gou ni shitagae).]
Questioning KOTOKO for answers was proving to be hopeless so ES gives up and staggers unto their feet. ES: Alri-... Dammit, MIKOTO…’s able to beat me up whenever it pleases him when he has the nerve to… KOTOKO: …Warden-san, look over here. ES: What is it, KOTO-?! As ES is responding, KOTOKO’s fist appears right in front of their face. KOTOKO: Hm… Punches get stopped halfway through. It’s true that the Warden isn’t affected by attacks from prisoners so, how is it that Mikoto Kayano can hit you? [T/N: KOTOKO is translated here using the normal spelling for "Mikoto Kayano" rather than in all caps in order to translate over her objective way of speaking including her impartial observations. Writing the character names in all caps can submerge a character into a theatric-quality through its unconventional appearance as well as create a mental barrier that makes the character seem even more spectacle-like, more distant from reader/viewer. It's a way to translate over the vibes that the katakana spelling of the prisoners give.] ES: …This is bad for my heart… Stop… Anyway, I’d really like to know the answer to that… Suddenly, the bells within the clock in the room begin to ring and the layout of the interrogation room changes. ES: Dammit- It’s time. Get out, KOTOKO. KOTOKO: You’re turning mental images into songs and videos, and yet I’m not allowed to see it? [T/N: KOTOKO pronounces 私 as "atashi" which is a feminine way of identifying and referring to oneself.] ES: I can’t allow it. Get out. KOTOKO: …I see. Even so, things have become quite interesting, don’t you think? ES: KOTOKO? KOTOKO: You know that too, hm? Based on Mikoto Kayano’s behaviors just a moment ago, it’s possible that he may have dissociative identity disorder, or—as you might call it—“split personality disorder”. Well, you can’t rule out the possibility that he may be fabricating it or acting, though. [T/N: KOTOKO is using あなた (anata) “you” which can imply a closeness or fondness. Also, she uses formal vocabulary, which could be due to her being an observant and articulate character, and the language used in law school. 解離性同一性障害 (kairiseidou itsusei shougai) is the clinical term for “dissociative identity disorder”. Most people aren’t aware of the clinical term as medical vocabulary is notoriously difficult in Japanese. However, more people are aware of the term 多重人格 (tajuu jinkaku) “multiple personalities” or 二重人格 (nijuu jinkaku) which literally means “two-tiered personalities” or “split personality”; both terms are derogatory but understandable by the common, average person.] ES: … KOTOKO: Hey, what do you think? I’ve never seen the real thing before, but if he is a real multiple personality disorder patient, should the main personality bear responsibility for the crimes that another personality cultivated? [T/N: Depending on the listener, Kotoko could be saying “should the main self-state bear responsibility for the crimes that another self-state cultivated?”  人格 (jinkaku) can mean “personality”, “self-state”, “personhood”, “individuality”, “character” etc. It all depends on context and how it’s interpreted by the listener. 主人格 (shu jinkaku) “main self-state” can also mean “false front self-state".]
ES: KOTOKO! KOTOKO: … ES: That’s my job to think about- Not the prisoners, not yours. Only myself and MILGRAM have the right to judge whether to include it as a crime and whether it’s true or not. KOTOKO: …Heh, haha. Of course, of course. [T/N: Down to the way she laughs, KOTOKO gives the vibes of a mature woman and femininity. ふふふ (fufufu) way of laughing is usually attributed to mature women.] KOTOKO starts to leave the interrogation room, an ominous smile on her face. KOTOKO: Okay then, I’ll leave it to you. Alright, that’s it for me then エス 「おい」 ES: Oi. KOTOKO: What is it? ES: …Thank you for helping me. [T/N: This may be the first time in this voice drama, or in all the Trial 1 voice dramas, in which ES actually speaks in a bit more formal and humble way rather than their rather casual, informal way (somewhat haughty) of speaking despite using formal vocabulary. 助けてくれて、ありがとう (tasukete kurete arigatou) literally means “Thanks for giving me the favor of helping me.”] ES sees KOTOKO off and turns to face the sleeping MIKOTO. ES: Hah… There’s so much I don’t understand about this… But, I have to do my job anyway. ES stomps MIKOTO with all their might. MIKOTO jumps to his feet. ES: …Hgh! MIKOTO: Ow! ES watches MIKOTO—who isn’t grasping nor understanding the current state of affairs—with a wary expression. ES: … MIKOTO: What- What are you doing, Warden-kun? Without even noticing, why did I end u- Argh-... wha- what’s this? My head hurts... [T/N: MIKOTO is referring to himself with the kanji version of 僕 (boku) again.] だろうな」 ES: …So it seems. MIKOTO: Eugh… Wait! Warden-kun’s also covered in bruises!? How’d that happen? What happened? 何も覚えてないんだな」 ES: …you don’t remember anything, huh. MIKOTO: Eh? What- What are you talking about… ES: [Saying and acting like that] after making such a mess, it makes my blood boil… But, fine. I’ll take that attitude as a challenge. ES wipes the blood from their mouth and grins. ES: I have no idea whether that attitude is coming from you… or someone apart from you. [T/N: There is really good wordplay here. 以外 (igai) means “apart from” and has a nuance of outsiderness; exclusion/exception as in being outside of a boundary.  お前以外の誰か (omae igai no dareka) quite literally means “apart from you’s someone”. Since the の (no) is a possessive particle that means “of”, AのB would mean “A’s B”. In English, this clause would be more like “[a someone] [that comes from] [something that is outside of you]”. When ES says “someone apart from you”, they’re implying “an outsider that comes from within you; a someone that isn't you but comes from you"] ミコト 「だ、だから、なんのこと!?」 MIKOTO: S- Seriously, what are you talking about!? エス 「囚人番号9番、ミコト。さあ。お前の罪を歌え」 ES: Prisoner number 9, MIKOTO. Come. Sing your sins.

Ahemm can I request s Fyodor x reader whos also russian but speaks better Japanese then him (i find it funny he's bad at learning Japanese) ♡
Tumblr media
“Trust Me, Mine is Better ♡˖” Fyodor Dostoevsky x GN!Reader ੈ✩‧₊˚
Warnings; Google translate Japanese, cursing, not proofread
Description; Fyodors partner is also Russian, but is better with speaking Japanese and learned faster, so his partner helps him out
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n; I wanna have a study date w him so bad omg 3:
• He'd be a teeny bit passive about it to be honest, but all in all he'd be proud of you. It's not often that he comes across someone who's better than him at anything intellectual.
ೃ⁀➷
Being in Japan with your boyfriend was lovely when he wasn't out being a terrorist. He loved to sight see whenever he left your homeland of Russia, but directions weren't his forte, nor was the Japanese language. You were able to speak it rather fluently though. You didn't have much of an accent to begin with, but however much of an accent you did have immediately disappeared when you opened your mouth to speak Japanese. He couldn't help but feel a little jealousy bubble in his chest when you could fluently speak with a random stranger in the street to ask which way something was, but he hid it well. As a matter of fact, he'd praise you.
"すみません、地下鉄の駅はどこですか?" (where is the subway station?) You asked when you stopped a man in the street, looking for a way home with your boyfriends hand in your own. You could almost feel Fyodors subtle glare gently burning through your skin like corrosives while you listened to the guy pointing you in the right direction. “ありがとう!" (Thank you) You say, giving a small nod of appreciation and leading Fyodor in the direction you were given. "Wow, Moya Lyubov, it's like you get better at speaking Japanese every day. Even your writing improves just as rapidly." The words rolled off his tongue smoothly and you gratefully accepted his compliments, smiling and squeezing his hand. "Thank you, yours does too. It's nice that we're both learning Japanese, so we can help eachother out." You say, looking at the street ahead of you, heading down a flight of stairs to a subway station.
"You sound like you're past simply learning." He says lightheartedly, a small smile on his face. You look over to him and nod. "I mean, I can get around, but I still have so much to learn and that's okay- Fedya, oh my gosh! We could have cute study dates together!! A lot of people do stuff like that in highschool or college, but since we were never together during either of those, we could do, like, a mock-study date." You say, excited by your new, groundbreaking idea. He seems amused by your enthusiasm, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you closer to him. “I wouldn't mind being taught how to speak and write better as long as it's by you. Other people are much more condescending and teasing." He says. You could only imagine he was referring to Nikolai after watching him show the clown a paper with large Japanese symbols written on the paper, to which Nikolai started giggling and asked him what the fuck it was supposed to be.
Needless to say that was the last time Fyodor turned to Nikolai for constructive criticism, he wrote him off as unhelpful in this manner. Instead he'd only get it from native speakers or people who are, in his eyes, fluent in the language. They could give him real advice. But since you were proposing a study date with him where he could get constructive advice from you and do some more learning of the language in his own way, there was no reason to pass that opportunity up. You both agreed on the next evening after he got home from a DOA meeting, and it was more than pleasant. You both laid in each other's presence, practicing your writing, doing Duolingo lessons here and there, and etc. You eventually got bored, craving your lovers attention instead of knowledge. You leaned over and brushed his hair away from his face before whispering into his ear. “キスしてもいいですか?" His eyebrows furrow and his head turns to face you.
"Can you what?" His words are slightly slurred together with his accent and sleepiness. His lips are pink and clearly chewed with focus and frustration and his eyelids are droopy. "Can I kiss you?" You repeat in English. His eyes widen and he grins, reaching out to cup your face, pulling you in. "You don't have to ask to kiss me, Moya Lyubov." He closes his eyes and lets his lips meet yours, moving them together and rubbing your cheek with his thumb. You entangle your fingers in his hair and part, taking a quick breath of air and resting your forehead against his. "I know, I just figured I'd give you a new phrase in Japanese." He laughs and pulls you into his thin body. "Who else would I need to say it to?" His hands rubbed up and down your back. "No one, but still- just let me be flirty while staying on topic, alright?" You say with a laugh, twirling his hair around your finger. Not to say neither of you learned anything during your study date, but just in case Fyodor didn't, he now knew how to ask to kiss you.
A/n; sorry this post is like an hour later than usual my bad chat ☹️

Extremely random thought but do you think that cringy fanfictions written by preteens who then grew up to be embarassed adults would have never existed in the Marukiverse, considering how that art student who was in a slump was forcibly pivoted to archery instead?
wow, goddamn. I guess you could take it either way, couldn't you? Maruki does seem to think that struggling against the odds isn't worth it, and that depression and discouragement are best treated by giving up.
I do tend to think that Maruki is able to tell what people truly want, to somehow divine it out of their heads, even before 12/24—just because all of the kids get something they really want, even when it's not necessarily obvious. Maruki makes some startling judgements there, but the PTs all seem to agree that they were genuine temptations.
So my reading would tend be that Yusuke's artist friend really did think he might have been happier as an archer, and really did believe there was no hope for him in art—but, just as the PTs all turn down their wishes that they desperately want, Yusuke's friend has chosen not to switch paths, and to stick with his painting despite his slump. Until Maruki happens to him, at any rate.
What I think is more likely is that people who want to write would still write. They just wouldn't ever feel discouraged, or down. They wouldn't go through that phase of realising all their work is cringe. And of course, because Maruki's reality has no pain or challenge or complexity, nobody would ever write anything worth reading.
Which brings me to....
deleted text chat
While I was checking the archery chat, I ran into this deleted chat all about conflicting wishes, and how the very thoughts in people's heads, their ability to feel negative emotions at all, will likely be erased. It's unsettling reading, and confirms a number of theories that go around about what life in Maruki's reality would really have been like, and how he'd likely handle conflicts.
It's SCRIPTCHAT_282, and since it didn't make it into the English localisation, it will have been cut in very early dev. Look out for Akechi chiming in when Ann talks about wishing to get rid of people they don't want around.
Do you guys remember New Year? Course we do. There’s no way we could forget that. My mom was there, right? Callbacks~~~ Every important moments have a callback in one way or other way...

Sasuke is my friend. Our important/precious/valuable bond is the one I finally got.
"Yatto" means something like "at the end, at last, eventually, finally." usually you say やっと when you achieve your goals or you finish doing something after putting in a lot of effort or waiting a long time. やっと emphasis on a long time process.
[[ やっと also translates as barely. = kono taikutsuna kōgichū ni okiteiru no ga yatto desu. = I can barely stay awake during this boring lecture. ]]
やっと focuses on the fact it took TIME to achieve the goal, so you can only use it when you've accomplished something.
Also, やっと implies that you waited for a long time/ longer than expected for something to occur/come that you got a little tired of waiting. It implies your negative feeling about how long it took.
e. g:
3 jikan tatte, yatto kare wa arawareta
He finally showed up after 3 hours.
yatto todoita!
finally arrived! (you've been waiting for it so long).
It means that something you have been waiting for has finally arrived. (=It took a long time to arrive.)
(Frustrated)
yatto ra-men ga tabereru yo...
We’ve been waiting and now we can (finally) eat ramen….
• やっと is used in Positive (feeling happy) sentence
e. g:
shiken ya to yatto yatto owatta!!! chō shiawase!!!
the test is finallyyy over. I'm so happy
yatto aeta ! tote mo ureshii
I'm happy we were finally able to meet!
yatto anata to shashin torete ureshikatta
I was happy that I could finally take a photo with you.
• やっと mainly implies that you are relieved after finishing something big.
Yatto is often used to express a sense of relief or happiness after finally achieving something or after a long wait. It conveys a feeling of accomplishment or satisfaction.
e. g:
やっと合格した = yatto gokaku shita = I finally passed. In this context, やっと emphasizes the sense of relief and happiness that comes with achieving the desired outcome after a period of effort or waiting.
「やっと」 is often used in situations where there was a sense of anticipation or difficulty leading up to the moment being described. It conveys a sense of relief or satisfaction that something has finally happened after a period of waiting or effort.
• 「やっと」 is typically used when something that you are waiting for happens. And it is often used to refer to things you've long wanted to get or achieve Or it implies that a person has been waiting, and waiting for a long, long time for something.
• Other words that are used in Japanese with the same meaning of yatto: “とうと う = toutou”, “ついに = tsuini”, “ようやく= yōyaku”. When you use this word yatto, it includes the nuance of "finally managed to do something after a long time," or "Finally accomplished although it was difficult," or " wanted to get it but wasn’t able to until now.."
However, what Naruto is saying is connected with "I finally got it" ⇔ "I wanted it but I wasn't able to get it until now" ⇔ "I searched for it for a long time (I couldn't get it during that time, but now I have it)". Therefore, "Yatto" is not used in contexts like : "something you searched for a short time = something you can get right away"... Because やっと is used as like "finally".

~he actually is glad to have connected with someone. That someone is "Sasuke". Because 持てた has a nuance like"finally I got it"-ish. "

[Sasuke's facial expression in this panel is very different compared to chapter 485. Naruto doesn't stop smiling throughout the conversation, showing Sasuke how happy he is. Hearing his words and seeing the happy smile that was beaming at him, Sasuke looks he is very much affected by Naruto]

@mayoigotokurousagi asked for a few more of the home screen dialogues I liked from a couple of characters, so here's Leo! Also included are the Japanese versions of the text for this one.
I LOVE HIM HE'S SUCH A LITTLE SHIT. . . . Once again this is nearly now all of them because this mfer has such personality lmao his also go with a few other characters', so there's i think one for Romeo and two or three for Sho in there too.
Also as a warning. . .i got a little horny in my commentary for some of these. But it's not my fault, Leo's the one who's saying things like that lol
Hello: (the first time the game is opened after that character is set as home screen NPC. Only happens once per day, unless the character is switched out and back.)
"Nice timing, Honor Roll. Give me your hand. Come on, just do it."
You've Got Mail: (whenever there's something in the inbox, usually Arena rewards)
"Hey, your messages are piling up. Hurry up and open them, it's annoying."
Default: (requires no affinity, has no time constraints)
"Ugh, you're so loud. Ask for permission if you want to talk to me. ...Nope, denied."
This isn't the only time he complains about volume. Maybe his ears are always sensitive even without using his stigma?
"I'm thirsty, go buy me a drink. What kind? Why don't you take a guess?"
he likes spicy stuff, do you think he likes bitter stuff too? Maybe lemonade? Do you think he's one of those influences who's like 'i never eat anything bad for me' so he either drinks diet soda or no soda at all? I feel like he wouldn't be able to handle restrictions like that--also he loves Painfully Spicy Food so. . . .
Hey Honor Roll! ...Don't make that face at me. I'm being totally genuine right now.
We were deprived of a cute heart in his localized text to emphasize how saccharine he was being. How dare they.
"Have you seen Cap? Ugh, bet he's lurching around lost again..."
the real question is, does Leo then go look for him himself, wait for him to come back on his own, or get Sho, the PC, or someone else to bring him back for him?
"We're fighting again? Which house? ...Ugh, pass." ……
I wonder which houses he wouldbe up to fight. Probably Hotarubi since he's kind of invested in Subaru's suffering? Maybe Frostheim since they already have beef--on the other hand, maybe that'd be boring for him. But man he seems pretty ready to go with that, Sho wasn't kidding when he said they got kicked out of every club in Shibuya because Leo's always picking fights.
Affinity 1: (between 5am and 11am)
"Ugh, I'm so tired... I'm done with these classes already. I'll just show up for tests and skip the rest."
Affinity 2: (between 11am and 4pm)
"I'm starving! Huh? Where'd Sho go? I swear he was here a second ago... Whatever. I'll make that NPC go buy something for me."
Affinity 3: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"That fucking himbo left me behind again..."
he really wants to get involved in the spy situation huh. That or it's something administrative. Even at affinity 3 Alan leaving him out of something interesting upsets him a bit, which is interesting.
Affinity 4: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Right now? I'm programming an app. I'm not doing anything that complex, just making an ordering system."
Of note, this is Sho's Affinity 7 line:
"Nice, got an order. More demand than I thought. Getting Leo to make this app was a good call."
So he made Sho an app for his food truck! Probably not for free of course--good to get the occasional reminder that Leo's both really smart and really good with technology lol
Affinity 5: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Ugh... Cap smashed my woofer. I was just playing music in the Pit since we can't go clubbing..."
That was kinda mean on Alan's part haha
Affinity 6: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Who's DMing me? Oh, it's this account. Huh... Now that's interesting."
the tea has arrived, piping hot i see. . . .
Affinity 7: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Hey, over here. Give this tabloid to that national treasure wannabe in front of the food truck. Just do it!"
My guy does not like Subaru huh lmao or rather he loves tea and wants to set Subaru off or something. . . .
Affinity 8: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Hey, Cap, could you open this bottle for me? Do it yourself? I can't, that's why I'm— hey! Where are you going?! ねぇ寮長サマ~、このペットボトルの蓋開けて~♡ いや、無理だから頼んで…… ちょっとどこ行くの!?
Leo really said 'i need a big strong man in my life' and Alan said 'good luck becoming one' kekw ONCE AGAIN DEPRIVED OF HEARTS
Affinity 9: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Time to see what the bug I planted in his car picked up... Huh? What the fuck?! Someone broke it!!"
Affinity 10: (between 10pm and midnight)
"This pillow mist? I only bought it because it was trending, but it's better than I thought it'd be. Ro-Ro's hooked on it too."
Romeo's Affinity 8 line references this:
"You're smelling the bedtime fragrance I bought from Kurossa earlier. He has a good eye, so I often ask him to pick things out for me."
"Kurossa" obviously being from "Kurosagi", Leo's surname. These two became fast friends, huh. Maybe they already knew each other from social media, since Romeo has an Instagram too. I bet they take the prettiest selfies.
Affinity 11: (between 5am and 11am)
"Night, then. What? I haven't slept yet. Unlike you, I actually have shit to do."
Sho also stays up pretty late lmao. I assume Leo does much of his hacking in the dead of night. . .then again why's he using his sleep mist before he goes to bed?
Affinity 12: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Why is this place so overrun with fucking losers?! My eardrums are going to burst!! ...I'm going back to the garage to play with Cap."
The word "雑魚" which was translated as 'loser' means "nobody" or "unimportant person" lol which means Alan is someone of greater importance than others to him? Or just more bearable? Or maybe just likes that he's quieter or finds him more entertaining lol it's kind of nice to see that they're "getting along" in the loosest sense of the term i guess. . . .
Affinity 13: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Huh... The little kabuki prince's sister married an actor from a different troupe? Bet there's something going on there."
Affinity 14: (between 5am and 11am)
"You think I smell good? It's L'Occitane body lotion. I just throw some on after showering in the morning."
the pc mentions that Leo's hair smells floral, so I bet he smells super nice. And I guarantee you he's not using men's fragrances either, he wants to smell pretty, leave that hypermasculine shit to Alan and Sho.
Affinity 15: (between 5am and 11am)
"Okay, okay, I'm coming... Ugh. Calling the whole house out at the ass crack of dawn... What is wrong with that himbo?"
Affinity 16: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Ugh, I totally missed out on that ultra-spicy chicken thing they had in Shin-Okubo. Guess I'll read the reviews and get Sho to recreate it."
I feel like, if not for that it'd have all the flavor sucked out of it from the spiciness, Sho would probably have a good time replicating flavors like that. He likes to make different cultures' foods after all.
Affinity 17: (between 10pm and midnight)
"Wow, so late already. Better get a bath going and get ready for bed. Here you go. It's for scrubbing the bath."
If you do a real good job of cleaning the tub for him, he may even let you have some of his bathwater! Isn't he generous?
Affinity 18: (between 8pm and 5am)
"That dumb video got over 10k interacts? God, you're all so basic... Muting."
No respect or love for his fans is2g
Affinity 19: (between 10pm and midnight)
"I can touch you, but you can't touch me. That's how this works, got it?"
This is probably so much more innocuous than it sounds--like literal touching, or maybe him holding his fame as an influencer over you--especially since he's saying it with a straight face but. . .it's so easy to imagine this as Leo cuffing or tying your hands and when you ask what he's doing he climbs in your lap and moves your clothes out of his way and says this. . .and at this point you've probably never fucked or kissed or anything before so it's a little out of the blue but you can't really stop him and he just toys with you until he's satisfied. . .one of my favorite of his lines just because it's a little dirty lol
Affinity 20: (between 5am and 11am)
"There she is. Hey, Honor Roll! You free? There's something I was really hoping you could help me with."
given this is his expression in the first line(and the little music note with his second line) he's probably up to no good lol there's either something he really needs to hear or something he really wants to do to you specifically. in Japanese he says "I just want you to keep me company for a while♪"
Tumblr media
BUT MAYBE I'M ASSUMING TOO MUCH MAYBE HE JUST DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO ASK YOU TO HANG OUT OTHERWISE. Like how the PC asks Sho if they need help on the food truck and he immediately clocks "you don't have to offer to help just so you can spend time with me you know"
Affinity 21: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Hey, Honor Roll, come sit down. Not over there, next to me. Good, you're comfy. Don't move, I'm taking a nap."
Lap pillow hours! Whether you like it or not! He said no touching him, so no moving him off your lap, either! He might make an exception for having his hair pet though.
Affinity 22: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"They went to the Pit again? Must really get a kick out of it... Like big, dumb animals throwing themselves at each other."
Affinity 23: (between 8pm and 5am)
"The whole demon nickname? People can call me whatever they want. I know who I am."
His expression saying this is his default one where he's smiling, so I guess it really doesn't bug him, which is good. He probably gets a kick out of it.
Affinity 24: (between 10pm and midnight)
"Stay like this till I tell you to leave, okay? Got it? I didn't hear an answer."
Again, this one's a little dirty which makes me like it a lot hahaha. . .this is a late night one(it's labeled "GoodNight" and only pops up between 10pm and midnight) is he telling you to sit still while he sleeps on your lap or uses you as a body pillow? Is he making you sit still with a toy in you while he ignores you or pretends he's not tormenting you sexually? SORRY I FIND SEXUAL THINGS SO AMUSING BUT HE'S MAKING IT SOUNDS SO HORNY. The audio doesn't sound as horny as i'm making it sound off but like LOOK AT IT.
Affinity 25(max): (no time constraints)
"Wanna make a bet, Honor Roll? Over which will come first—me falling for you, or you getting hooked on me."
I think it's a little late for you, sweetheart. I think you've already caught the feels and that ship is sailed.
Spring: (March-May) (between 5am and 11am)
"Why the hell would I go to class? I already learned all the first year material."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Cap really puts the "him" in "himbo..." Look at him, he's got a flower stuck in his hair."
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Quick Honor Roll, stand over there. Perfect. Now hold my phone. You're the cameraman."
(between 8pm and 5am)
"Can't believe how many gross dudes this account keeps reeling in. AI-generated pics make it so easy! "Could you send me some more money ♡?” Send." このアカ、変態ジジイ釣れすぎなんだけど。AI美女画像マジ便利~! もっとペイペイちょ~だい♡っと
I find it funny that they use AI generated images for their backgrounds and also have a character who scams people with AI generated images. . . .
Summer: (June-August) (between 5am and 11am)
"That rule about having to wear your academy or house uniform on campus is so outdated. I'm going to die wearing all this crap in this heat."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"I can't believe Sho seriously ran out of my Killer Sauce. It's summer, this is when I want to eat spicy stuff."
well maybe if you didn't dump so much of it on whatever you ate. . . .
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"I keep telling Sho we should let off some fireworks and he keeps saying no! You want to do it too, don't you, Honor Roll?"
One of Sho's summer lines references this:
"Leo won't shut up about wanting to let off fireworks, but no way am I doing that shit with him again. I'm sure you can guess why."
I guess Leo isn't a very responsible fireworks user.
(between 8pm and 5am)
"Yeah, apparently there's more anomalies around in summer. Statistically speaking. It's just fucking annoying more than anything else, really."
Autumn: (September-November) (between 5am and 11am)
"Thought I could have some fun here at Japan's most elite educational institution. What a let down."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Sports? Hard pass. I hate getting sweaty. Ask Sho instead."
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Sho hurt himself playing basketball? How unfortunate."
He gives so few fucks about his best friend lmao then again they're ghouls, Sho'll probably be fine in like two hours.
(between 8pm and 5am)
"Ugh, I want to go clubbing... We should make one in the Pit. Sinostra's got a casino, can't be that hard to get a permit."
Leo pointing at sinostra: if the criminals in there can have a fucking casino there's no way it's hard to get a business permit here. They kill people like on a weekly basis and no one's shut them down. The standards must be in the ground.
Winter: (December-February) (between 5am and 11am)
"This coat? Cute, right? I knew it'd look good on me, so I bought it."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"I'm freezing... I'm having a carbonated bath tonight. Wanna join, Honor Roll? Of course I'm serious."
This one happens regardless of affinity which is kinda funny to think about. then again, Japanese bathhouse culture probably means that's not super weird if you have a tub big enough, maybe? Then again a bathhouse and just having a bath with someone are different things. I bet he has lots of baths with Sho.
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Hey, everyone! It's me! Ugh, my throat's all dry from the cold. I'll just stream tomorrow..."
Of note here, Leo's online handle is just "LEO" in Japanese. In English his name probably had to be given just as Leo to prevent this being lost in translation, because his actual name, in kanji, is 玲音, which is pronounced "Reio"(the same as 'leo' but with an r). But "Leo" is stylized since Japanese doesn't have the L sound and the R sound is closest. So in Japanese he says "It's LEO!" whereas in English he just says "It's me!" since his handle and his name are the same. Although, as someone who follows streamers, introducing yourself again at the top of a stream isn't too uncommon i think? But I also don't watch the influencer types, so the culture is probably very different haha.
(between 8pm and 5am)
"The ghouls won't listen to you? No shit. You realize we were hand-picked by demons, right?"
He's one of the only ones who mentions something like this on the homescreen(off the top of my head Haku is the other one who really mentions how none of them are normal). And he's absolutely right--they were chosen by demons, made pacts with those demons, and ultimately overcame them somehow. Most of them are gonna be kinda stubborn. A demon probably wouldn't choose someone who'd be influenced easily. . .except the demon who chose Kaito apparently. Probably just looking for easy pickings, that one. Or maybe Kaito wasn't always such a coward. . . .
His birthday (Year 1): (May 23rd)
"You got me a birthday present? Oh, thanks. Just put it over there, I'll look at it later.  I will, I promise."
Rude ungrateful little shit lmaoooooo "yeah yeah my fans sent me a bunch of gifts already. I'll get to it."
His birthday (Year 2): (May 23rd)
"Yeah, it's my birthday. What do I want? …How about you give me your bank card?"
he's gonna be so jealous of that Taiga just hands you his wallet and goes 'get yourself something nice' lmao LEO YOU ARE A FAMOUS INFLUENCER AND A HACKER AND A SCAMMER YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ASK HER FOR MONEY LMAO i love him so much chat
Your birthday (Year 1):
"It's your birthday? I'll help you celebrate.  Meet me behind the garage later."
Your birthday (Year 2):
"Hey, Honor Roll. Heard it's your bday. I'll make you one of those surprise birthday videos. Shut up, just go stand over there."
i know the surprise is probably whatever the gift is and not the video itself but when he announces it it sounds like so much less of a surprise lmaoooo and then he's snippy with you like you are not going to ruin my video for you
New Years: (January 1st)
"Happy New Year! I prefer digital payment.  What do you mean, what do I mean? I'll be nice to you again this year, so pay up."
He's referencing otoshidama, money you're given on new years(usually as a child) but it sounds like you've just got a recurring subscription to Leo's friendship lmaoooo "We can still be friends, so compensate me monetarily" lolol i swear if he weren't vice captain i wouldn't be surprised if he eventually transferred to Sinostra in his second or third year. I think he'd fit in.
Valentine's Day: (February 14th)
"This is that ultra-spicy chocolate they only sell this time of year... I'm actually genuinely stoked right now."
White Day: (March 14th)
"Here, as thanks for the chocolate. You're not going to tell me you don't know Godiva, are you? All right, now we're even."

Comments section like "gee Leo how come your boyfriend lets you have two partners?"
Halloween: (October 31st)

(13 affinity and above)
"Ugh, everyone's so loud.  I'm putting my headphones on, so tap here if you need me, okay?"
oh no he's becoming self aware i like that he's not like. 'hey pay attention to me!!' instead he's like 'okay we can sit here in silence that's fine, i'm gonna listen to music so if you want something let me know'. Parallel play with Leo! He's content to just vibe out with you--and he likes you enough that he'll give you attention if you ask too.
Absent: (logging in for the first time in 2 or more days?)
"Who are you? Ah ha ha! I'm kidding. Have you got a good excuse for why you've been gone so long?" …… ……
MAN THAT TOOK A LONG TIME. He really just has a lot of personality lol or maybe i just like his personality a lot? Either way I like a bunch of his lines so that's honestly like 90% of them. Bit of a goober. I'll do Sho's in a few hours! Since i already have his japanese file open from doing Leo's lol this is now all of his lines, and Sho's is partially done as well as of writing this! I love Leo so much haha

Ur account is so cool love the layout!!!
and may I req akito and Toya (separately) with a loser gf reader) Like she usually stays at home a lot definetly a hikkikomori and definetly is either a streamer or has some type of blog somewhere, she also is definetly weak like kanade and also like kanade is in a music group? More like a band whoever though but they mostly just lost it online to a normal sized following
(also probably a cutecore enthusiast idk)
Electric Angel — Akito Shinonome + Toya Aoyagi
Tumblr media
— headcanon: akito and toya with a hikikomori s/o.
Tumblr media
tags: not proofread because when are my posts ever proofread
note: AHHH thank u !! <33 i tried my best with this; i hope it came out alright. also off topic but this request reminded me of asmongold minus the cutecore part
Tumblr media
Akito Shinonome:
i can see akito being extremely hard on you for not leaving the house
like he will try to make plans for you both to go out, and if you reject them then he's just upset with you for the whole day
but honestly, what did he expect
would def be supportive of your music/streaming career
if you have a blog, he would check it frequently to see what you're up to since you never leave the house to see him
he comes over often; usually helps you clean your room or stream
goes shopping for you whenever you don't feel like ordering online
would complain about shopping for you, but do it anyway
now that i think about it, he would get irritated with you a lot
"i just don't get how you can sit inside all day staring at a computer"
Tumblr media
Toya Aoyagi:
toya wouldn't be as hard on you as akito, but he would most definitely try to get you to leave the house
would promote your group
would invite you to one of his and akito's gigs and understand if you turn him down
he's literally the definition of chill, like he would js go with everything you do and not gaf unless it harms you
he would come over a lot and play games with you and whatnot since, lets be honest, staying at home all day is boring as hell
board games, video games, whatever you want
heavy on the video games
that puyo puyo card lives in my head rent free

Game
Hello! I wanted to share with you a game that I made up that I like to use to practice Japanese vocabulary in my spare time (i.e. when I'm bored and don't have access to a phone). This game works well when you don't have time to do formal studying but want to challenge yourself for a short time anyways.
Tumblr media
How to Play?
The general idea of the game is to come up with a word for each syllable of the Japanese alphabet/syllabary (あいうえお, etc.).
Step 1: Pick a Theme
You can pick any theme that you'd like, but I find that broader themes are easier to come up with words for than more specific themes.
Some of my favorite themes include:
Animals
Food
First Names
Last Names
Sports
You could also do verbs, adjectives, nouns, etc. Or, you can play anything goes!
Step 2: Think of as Many Words as Possible
Now, you just go through the syllabary in given (alphabetical?) order in your head and come up with a word that matches your theme starting with each syllable. Examples below!
Animals:
Food:
First Names:
Last Names:
Step 3: If You Get Stuck, Skip It!
If you get stuck on a syllable and can't think of anything, skip it! You can either come back to it look up a word later, or you can just forgive yourself for not having a vocabulary word to insert there. When I get stuck I usually skip it and try to keep my momentum going. The nice part about this game is that there is no score and no one is judging you!
And that's it! That's how to play the あいうえお game. I enjoy it because it's simple and it's portable and it's a great way to practice vocabulary.
