34. How much of your personal life/experience do you include in your fics?

ive mentioned it repeatedly before but i have a family dynamic that's extremely similar to rottmnt's, and that influences the way that i write the characters very heavily!!! i legit have an autistic older brother who was a straight A student for all of his school life and was instrumentally parentified due to our financial issues, an empathetic sensitive younger brother who is hilariously leftist for a 13 year old due to our influence and who's hobbies include gaming and cooking, and im a flamboyant adhd middle child with terrible grades (i dropped out LOL) but i get along with people pretty well/am super extroverted. i even have a queer parent who had some issues raising us early on because of trauma/recently developed chronic illness who spends most of their time sitting in front of the tv (they watch so much trash...... fascinating). and they also had some horrible taste in partners in their youth which is what lead them to accidentally having us. LOL

this is probably why i got so attached to it honestly. it's UNCANNY. i dont write them the exact same as my family dynamic, but im extremely close with my brothers so rottmnt is comfortable and familiar to me in a way that i havent really seen anywhere else. its most apparent in CVD because thats more humor-oriented pffthaha. but also i write leo with a lot of my verbal mannerisms and donnie with a lot of my brother's :)

brief biography

Eddie grew up in a suburban neighborhood of Jersey City in a nice house and a middle class family, the child of a financial advisor (his mom) and a high school math teacher (his dad). He's the oldest of three kids, with a sister seven years younger than him and a brother in between. Because his parents both worked, they typically put Eddie in charge of his siblings, which, especially by the time he hit high school, impeded his freedom a lot. He's the type of person that resented his parents for it and tried not to misdirect his anger at his brother and sister, but they absolutely felt the consequences of it now and then, particularly in his junior and senior years. There was a lot of unhealthy stuff between him and his parents and whenever he could, Eddie spent a lot of time at his best friend Matt's house (who would end up being the frontman of Kafka). His parents were slightly insane and very conservative, but they recognized Eddie's parenting situation as being kind of dire and were always happy to have him over. His own parents were actually crazy, and would do things like locking him out of the house if he came home after curfew and snooping through his room for drugs. He has a terrible relationship with them these days, rarely goes to visit except for holidays, and has reached a point now where he knows there's never gonna be a relationship there and has accepted it. Kafkaesque started getting attention just after he and Matt and their two other friends in the band graduated high school in 2010/11ish. They released a few EPs and then finally their debut album, Kafkaesque, in November of 2012. Two years later in 2014 they released their sophomore album, Fear In Unexpected Places, and then Mass Hallucination in 2017. They were on hiatus for four years after that, dropped their last album, Hope This Helps, in 2021, and toured it briefly as an opening act for Submergence. They've been on hiatus again since then. There are a few singles that made it onto the radio but otherwise they were always a smaller band with a relatively small but dedicated following. It was in 2022, just under two years ago now, that Eddie and another producer friend of his co-founded their own music label, Bath House. Eddie's experimental project, Love Sucks Sometimes, is signed to the label, as well as a small but growing list of other alternative/experimental artists. He mainly lives in Aurora Bay, enjoying the slower pace than Los Angeles, which he isn't crazy about, and travels when he needs to.

In some way i provocated this event haha, here is my "first" (pretty sure i met one when i was little) interaction with a demon (and i did massive error dw i learned from it i don't use those methods anymore)

So basically at the begining i didn't had that much ressources beside goetia (yeah you know where it's going 💀) and also some people online, i had this demon, Belial who i kept seing everywhere i won't list everything but it was very clear that he was going to be the demon i'll go to. So yeah i did all of ritual but with a shit ton of error in it oh boy it was a disaster but he did come, then i felt someone sitting next to me (i sat on my bed because my bedroom is very small) when i closed the ritual i felt like "he" was leaving and i went to bed

That's where we get the supernatural part, in my dream i saw a specific letter "shin" thing is, when i opened my eyes the letter was still in front of me and i wasn't dreaming at all i was fully awake and it slowly faded. (And now the big event) on that day i went out with friends, before leaving i asked with tarot if i did everything well or if i fucked up i didn't really understood the answer and i had to go because i was about to miss my train. When i went home and opened the light i saw a tall shadow figure in front of me and it went in my bedroom i was paralysed i didn't know what to do because that wasn't a human at a l l, so you know what i did ? 😭 I went to the kitchen calming down and took a knife to go in my bedroom cuz idk what was in my mind at this point haha

And in my bedroom there was NOTHING (and i did check under my bed 😭) however the 3 cards i pulled in the morning weren't the same (i took note of them) and the message was a clear "yes everything went well".... So that's why Belial isn't for beginners he isn't gentle haha

Too much honestly if drawing wasn't so time consuming i would love to learn some music instrument ! Beside that i love reading even if i have trouble with attention, mostly books related to witchcraft and mythology but i enjoy other types of books but it takes me a lot of time to read :') i really appreciate mangas even if i don't search that much for new ones it's a big source of inspiration. I looove cinema i highly hesitated between cinema and art school back in time, i enjoy all genre and i love going to theater sooo much i can't just like one thing i have to go deep in my research and it takes all my time haha

Listening to new releases and like Megan DEVOURED. I love her so much GOOOOOD!!!! That woman is fucking unstoppable and I do love that although some of these lyrics are more personal than before, there is a kind of play going on there with not just her genius wordsmithing but with dabbling in more R&B sounds that I found lightened the album in a nice way. She genuinely deserves the world and good people in her life.

Looove the awesome marriage of the electronic and analog sounds, especially the piano and guitars that kick in in the chorus, in the new YYY's too. It makes it feel very old school spy movie ballad but with far more of that "sharp as a knife's edge" magic that Karen's voice and Nick's guitar sounds always lends to their more "theatrical" sounds. I'm looking forward to their new album soooo bad!!!!

Little Dragon's new single is nice too. Smooth and bouncy. They rarely make stuff I don't like, just very much a chill kind of groove. I like those really like bass heavy ROUND beats. It's like being inside a big orange bubble every time one hits. Also the last bit is a fun switch up.

Moving on to meh releases, the new Alvvays single bothers the shit out of me. The syllabic rhythm feels sooo off to me, theres a kind of mismatch with the instrumentals. Its like they tried to cram as many words as they could in short phrase of music and I don't like it. Prefered Pharmacist honestly, plus the guitar sound in that was more dynamic.

Where is the last place you had a kiss? My girlfriend’s couch. I normally wouldn’t kiss her inside her house but we were alone, so it just happened. What did you eat for breakfast yesterday? Resonance pt.1

Just finished listening to the album and it was nice but I've already forgotten what most of these sounded like oops I just know there were some really cool piano and background sounds and adlibs and make a wish is a great title track for this but I also think the fixed unit songs are the strongest songs -aside from make a wish (especially dream and wayv)

So many great vocal moments (Taeil Haechan Renjun and Doyoung killed it), I really feel liek overall it was more of a vocal album for me (which I know is weird because not all the songs are vocal-centric but the vocal parts really stood out to me whereas the rap not so much tbh)

Didn't surprise me/shock me/overwhelm me as much as neozone or turn back time tbh I need a relisten definitely to get the hang of some of these

Also I swear I heard mostly like 10 people and then the others were there for at most 2 lines?? Kind of wish they'd have played more with them

Also when will they give me big unison singing??? You know that part in hit by seventeen when they're chanting? I want that from nct!!!! I want them to be big and loud and choir-like, not gospel but as in singing in unison or canon and playing with the sheer volume of voices they have!!! They could do so many things with this omg liek you have 23 members GO FOR IT

Okay first, thanks for tagging me!! I'm by no means an expert but I've had a similar issue to you when it comes to choosing basses. By the looks of it what you've got here is essentially a jazz bass (black and white) and a precision bass (wooden effect "sunburst", aka P bass), which are originally Fender basses. I'm sure both will sound great, being classic instruments that are widely used. Here are what I've learned about their differences:

Jazz Bass (JB8OMA)

Extremely versatile tone, as there are 2 pickups (rectangular microphone things) and various tone settings which switch between them.

Generally the tone is "cleaner" and more bright, which is why its commonly used in funk, jazz, blues etc

Don't be put off by the name though - jazz basses work great in any genre.

Here's a clip of a jazz bass in action

A really fun instrument!! I learned partly on my school's battered old jazz bass with a bent neck, but she still sounded lovely (despite me being a novice lol). I love the tone and the way a jazz bass plays, it feels happy to play it :D

The neck is thinner and the strings are closer to the fret board (I think?? Or maybe that was just the bend in mines neck lmao) so if you've got small hands this might be good. try it out in the shop if you can.

The shape in general is more curvy which can make it easier to hold (not really an issue in my experience though)

Precision Bass (PB8ORA)

The P bass has a deeper, more "growly" tone which means it sets a great foundation for rock n roll.

You feel Powerful when you play this bass. It's got a really solid, thundering tone which I love

Being the first electronic bass that went into large scale production, it basically laid the pathway for modern rock/pop/etc bass players and remains very popular. Absolutely classic sound.

Only has one pickup (or 2 next to each other) so there is less range of tones.

Thicker neck which *can* be an issue for small hands, however, I've got small hands and I'm managing fine on a P bass so whatever, just gotta be determined lol. And if you learn to play on a P bass, then you can play on pretty much any other neck widths.

This is Deaky's bass of choice (he had quite a few over the years) so if you wanna hear what it sounds like you know where to go! My first bass is a (budget) P bass and i love it. so much. my beautiful baby aaaa i'm not biased tho

So yeah as you can probably tell there's no definitively better bass, and whichever one you get will be great. Personally I think they're both amazing, although I do prefer the P bass because deaky used them no actually I adore how it sounds. Jazz basses are more versatile though and often preferred by jazz-type melodic players (deaky plays melodic P bass but,, yeah). I looove the sunburst P bass on the right, looks just like one of deaky's early basses!

Again, definitely try them out in the shop, and YouTube is also a great resource for finding out about their sounds. Hope this helps! Best of luck in getting a bass!!! 😘💞💞💞
