Shouta stops to think about it. Sure, he's always wondered about the way Midoriya's mind work with how efficiently he manages to come up with theories and he's pinned thoughts on his cork board of notes about Midoriya, but his ideas about Midoriya's quirks were...minimal.

In short, Shouta doesn't care. Quirks aren't everything, not what everyone else makes them out to be.

He cares about what Midoriya likes. The foods he hates, the things that make his eyes sparkle and make him gasp with excitement. The things that bring a soft flush to his cheeks that blur into his specks of freckles. Shouta has theories on how many there are though he's held back from counting all cute spots on his face.

Because where else might they be? Shouta's thought about tracing his fingers down Midoriya's neck or pulling up his sleeves to count them off his arms. But what about his calves, thighs—could Shouta trace the night sky along Midoriya's back if they had all the time in the world?

He's the only piece of art Shouta's ever wanted to study.

Midoriya makes him want something else from this life—someone in his space, someone press his lips against first thing after they wake up, to grab at each other's shorts, tumble around in bed on lazy mornings. Shouta wants that domesticity, suddenly, immediately and so desperately. He imagines making pancakes on weekends and cuddling on the couch after a long day and falling asleep to the sound of each other's heart beat.

Shouta sits in these visions all while intensely staring down the target of his affections who stand still and wide eyed like prey ready to dart away. Midoriya twists at his fingers until Shouta pulls them apart, entangling their hands together.

"...No. That's not all. But whether or not you have a quirk isn't what makes you interesting."

And there—a flush that brushes across his cheeks in a pigment of rose and watermelon and Izuku goes rigid as a squeak eeps out.

The other day, I saw a non-fandom text post along the lines of:

“What we had was so special you’ll look for me in every new person” (sorry I haven’t been able to find it again)

And I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

Because to me this perfectly describes Durgetash + romancing your companions.

I can’t help thinking about amnesiac Durge missing something, always searching, but can’t remember what.

They find echoes of it in Gale’s intelligence, his enthusiasm and knowledge when he speaks about magic. And yet, it doesn’t fit entirely.

They find it in Lae’zel’s easy superiority, her ruthlessness and determination. And yet, it’s not quite enough.

They find it in Astarion’s deception and easy charm, the way he manipulates a situation to his advantage, the way he doesn’t need magic to have people literally bare their necks to him.

They find it in Shadowheart’s snark, her secrecy, her dark goddess. They find it in Karlach’s rage (though she burns hot instead of cold which is odd..), in the smell of sulphur and hellfire that clings to her. They especially find it in her mechanical heart, that makes them want to reach out, bury their hands in it, just to see if it feels as familiar as it seems. If maybe owning her heart will fill the hole in their memories, their chest even.

And yet, surprisingly, they find it in Wyll’s pact, Wyll’s past, but also Wyll’s manners and they way he dances, his stories, that make them feel closer to a city they don’t much care about otherwise.

They find it in the deep possessiveness, maybe even hatred, when Raphael first comes to camp.

And yet none of it is enough, none of it fits quite right, and while maybe eventually they manage to look past that familiar feeling and find new things to admire about their chosen partner…deep in their heart they know.

In the end, they’ll always look for something none of them can give them.

Not until they first encounter that handsome young man with an easy smile, and all the jagged broken edges click together like horrible little puzzle pieces.

My LoZ story is really into the whole 'divine purpose' trope but also the variants I can put onto it. In this Hyrule, the kingdoms are not unified. Based on the BoTW map, there are the Central Hylians, the Sheikah, the Lurelin-Hylians, fresh water Zora, the Gorons, Akkalans (also might be the Ikana, shout out to MM but not sure), the Tabantha Rito, the Hebra Rito, the Kokiri, and the Gerudo. The only allied kingdoms are the Hylians, Sheikah, Goron, and Zora.

However, despite the disunity, there is one thing that unifies each kingdom: the sages. The cycle of sages forms the Council of Sages, rotating in seats based on which race gets what sage at that point in time. The sages are: time, light, shadow, spirit, fire, water, and wind.

Sages only do so little. After a sage is born into Gerudo territory, who have been at conflict with Hyrule, full war breaks out between the two and their allies.

Zelda is the newly anointed Queen Zelda after her mother passes and King Rhoam is killed in battle against the Gerudo. She bears the Triforce of Wisdom and is the reincarnation of the goddess, Hylia. She is determined to end the war against the Gerudo and defeat the works of Demise in her world. Her closest friend is Link from early teenage years.

Link is the Hero of Hyrule, bearing the Triforce of Courage which lays dormant until his final clash with the Triforce of Power. He is from a Lurelin-Hylian village, brought to Hyrule Castle to live and train after he is prophesied to be Hylia's Champion. During his time in the castle, he becomes close friends with Zelda and often trains with her. He is the Alice to the Gerudo's Jabberwocky.

Ganondorf is the king of the Gerudo, an empire in the depths of the Gerudo desert. He is also the bearer of the Triforce of Power and the vessel for Demise. He picked up his chieftain mother's war against the Hylians as his own. Additionally, he was raised by the twin witches Kotake and Koume, priming him to be the perfect vessel for Demise. To him, being Demise, power, the dark beast - what have you - is the way to protect his kingdom and to take Hylian land for their benefit.

Riar'svah is the sage of spirit, being a spirital guide to the Gerudo people (Gerudo governance comprises of three parts: chieftain/king (force), elder witches (magic) and a spiritual guide/priestess (spirit)). She and Ganondorf are close companions and she joins him in the war against Hyrule. When Ganondorf is defeated by Link and Zelda, she leads the rest of the Gerudo into war and upon their defeat, she divide the valley, isolating the Gerudo from the mainland - beginning their isolationist, thieving history.

It is not enough to coast the high of enough. It has to be more. There has to be the tenuous sigh of relief as your body scrambles to survive within the frame you've made for it. Just one more. Another.

The weights fall to the floor with a clatter and your mouth splits into a wide grin of approval as everything— your vision, your limbs, your spirit— trembles, quakes: the good kind of exhaustion. The ceiling is the loveliest view you've ever seen— you did it. The something you can do. Colors dull in comparison to it. As you lay on the mat, tracing worms of fracturing color that twitch with your heightened breath, a face steps in, swirling your vision into whirls of lights and traces of sweat. A smirk, a raised eyebrow— distant, not staring, but aware. He hefts his own weight. Flicks his focus to your red, flushed face. Meets your eyes for a fraction of a second before curling the iron once more.

"A sight for sore eyes."

You, at a lack for words, trace an eye over his form. He rolls his lips. You flick a brow.

And that is all there is to it.

The 2 worlds greatest minds are going to have to take some time off working today. They’ve unfortunately both been afflicted by a sudden spiking fever and can hardly move. As they lay in bed, fatigued, aching, and sweating through their clothes, they could only struggle to try to help themselves.

This is such an attractive piece. I think I’m in love...
