I Still Believe I Can Change the World
Today I went to a women's march and the turn out was terrible. Like not even the organizer showed up, it was ridiculous. There were supposed to be speeches. Only a couple people showed.
I still chose to march and show my sign. It would've been awesome if there were more people, but honestly it was just nice to get out of my house and talk with people.
It felt like a refreshing way to air my grievances with the election and government in general.

Ben kötü biri olmak isteyen iyi biriyim

Going straight edge for as long as I can. I'm on day three of not drinking and I smoked my last joint today. I don't want to live my life chained to these substances.
I could've gone to a bar yesterday, but I declined the offer. I could've bought some alcohol today, but I decided to drink as many sparkling waters as I wanted.
I saw this article on a blog that said a sober life is an easy life. Eventually, buying the weed/alcohol will feel like the hard choice. I can't place all my happiness in drugs. Drugs are empty and only indulgences. There is nothing I gain by continuing to use.
I want to have a sober life so I can learn to appreciate life in the moment and stop avoiding reality.

don't stress about that opportunity that fell through or that friend you lost or that thing you really want to happen but isn't. as long as you keep your chin up and try try try again, better things will replace your losses. i'm looking at my life rn and actually marveling at how every single thing i stressed about, whether it be an opportunity or a person, got supplanted w another thing that is so much better. it really is true that loss makes space for better things. these days i don't get sad when something doesn't work out. i get excited that i'm now open to so many other possibilities out there, so long as i actively seek them. you never lack. you just transition.

How to: Become a better version of yourself.
Hi angels! Today, we'll be covering the topic of becoming that vision of ourselves, the best ever. Let's dive right in!
Follow accounts that inspire: Especially people who seem so into what they're doing, not just being "influencers". When scrolling, don't follow a person just because you liked one video of them. Instead, go to their account, check their posts and if they're relatable to any of your goals, follow them! Be mindful.
Vision Boards!: Personally, I make one for each month. They mainly consist of academic, health goals, and quotes (for me). I love to check them whenever I'm feeling unmotivated and after each month, I check them once again to see what I achieved and what I could have done better.
Write down your goals: Will you forget about it? Well, maybe. Is it worth it though? Definitely. You'll have your own guide to refer to once you remember it exists. Categorize your goals, make them seasonal, whatever you feel is best for you.
Affirmations: Each morning, I tell myself that I'm beautiful, smart and worth a million. You have to believe it. We always tell others these words that we forget we need to hear them, too.
Baby steps: Workout at home if you can't afford a gym membership until you can, for example. Find an alternative for anything you want to do but can't afford/isn't available. Don't just give up because you don't have money, that's an excuse.
Have a well-structured routine: Build your own routine and write it down. Think of what you're doing wrong and work on it by replacing it with another healthy habit.
Think of who you'll be if you start now: Visualize your life once you're "that" person you've been dreaming of. How will that feel? How will you look, talk, and walk like? And what kind of life do you prefer?
Love yourself enough: The amount of self-respect you've got to have in order to do all this for yourself is insane. You have to believe that you deserve a better life, a healthy and functioning body, a nice degree. Think of how people will perceive you, but most importantly think of how YOU will perceive yourself.
Alright that's it for now babes! Hope you have a good night or morning. Much love, angel.

One of the philosophical/theological differences between judaism and other religions is how we conceive of the consequences of doing bad things.
I just heard someone say, "well jews don't believe in hell, so why don't you-" and just never sits right with me that the only thing that could prevent you from acting in bad ways are the threat of an eternal punishment. The implication that you shouldn't care about the consequences of your actions on the worldly level are astounding as well.
I care about not doing bad because it hurts people - myself included. Even if I did believe in hell... It wouldn't factor into how I live life. I fundamentally don't agree that we should treat this life and this world as a temporary home - a rest stop - where our actions only matter insofar as it affects where you go in the afterlife.

i'm rewatching the night and the fury because it's one of my favorite dagur-related episodes, and,
Tumblr media
the look on dagur's face when he declares hiccup his enemy and hiccup accepts it without hesitation, lowkey hurts me.
i mean
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
his expression changes from anger to surprise to upset.
it makes me think some part of dagur was hoping for hiccup to object to it, to say they were still brothers or something like that, and that it pained him to hear hiccup didn't actually care.
dagur made such a big deal out of them being brothers, and I think he expected hiccup to feel the same, which probably made the "betrayal" worse for him, fueling his anger and need for revenge. in his eyes, hiccup didn't even fight for their brotherhood, picking a dragon over him with no hesitation, and it enraged him.
