Take a gander at what has emerged from my drafts!! Finally getting around to posting the Post-Timeskip refs for Bun--
Artwork for Bun's Human-Beast; ie Bun-Beast form done in colaberation with @sun-uwu-kong!! [Please be sure to check out his blog if you like his work!]
🔽🔽!!Detailed Profile Below!! ⬇️⬇️
Tumblr media
Haki: Conquer’s Haki; which Bun is able to utilize with limited ability. Mainly it contributes largely to how bun can both tame - and harness strong understandings with - the many creatures of the world. Alas, Bun never received the proper training to have complete mastery over her talent, which means it can’t be utilized to its fullest potential. Notably, Bun can only be formidable with her Haki subconsciously/in a signification state of distress. Bun is completely unaware of her ability- as are most others. ・❥・Spouse: La.ffitte ・❥・Affiliations: The Bl.ackbeard Pirates ・❥・Relevant Arcs: [Pre]A.labasta, J.aya, Post-En.ies Lobby, Ma.rineford, Post-War, [TIMESKIP], D.ressrosa, Z.ou, W.ano, Eg.ghead
Tumblr media
・❥・Bunself: ・The very same Bun-Bun Silva that everyone knows and loves! Ah, granted, this version of Bun harbors a few negative traits, a few bad habits that come to the surface more often than even she would like to admit. Oh what, did you expect Bun to be nary a flaw? What a naive assumption to make. Regrettably, Bun is as human as the rest of us… ・If one is unlucky enough to cross paths with a Bla.ckbeard Pirate, then Bun is just about the only one a person would “want” to run into. She never quite got on board with the whole “pirating” profession. A simple offering will do in place of actual pillaging— Complimentary meals, free services, generous gifts from shops and vendors; nothing that would put too much of a hole in a business’ profits. And individuals/their residences [save for the immensely, ridiculously wealthy] will not be bothered at all. Areas of an island where she has personally wandered through usually remain surprisingly intact, and no worse off. Mostly, she just wants to be left alone when going about her day. ・Bun is still nice to those around her as a default. And more importantly, Bun is still kind. It is immensely difficult for her to be unkind… without a worthy reason, of course. Bun has changed- depending on whom you ask; for the better or the worse. And yet, some things never do change. She will always be soft for those who need it. She will always take the time to put a baby bird back in its nest, or carefully usher a wayward insect back outside. ・But be ever mindful about rubbing Bun the wrong way. Bun has a bit of a temper broiling beneath the surface. Mind you, it takes quite a bit of pushing to get bun to that point, but once somebody has… there is no reversing what has been done. No one really ever knows what to expect when Bun is pushed past the threshold, though a grand scale explosion is always an inevitable certainty. The fallout after the fact is a degree of consequence that many aren’t prepared to cope with. It behooves those in her presence to ensure they stay off of her shit list. ・An audacious little bucket of sass; even more so after eating the Rabbit-Rabbit Fruit, Model: Wolpertinger. Bun has always been playful, if not a bit verbally impish. However, after spending all of her time amongst a crew of morally corrupt pirates who encourage every maladjusted trait bun boasts, she’s become a bit of a mouthy menace. ・Bun is never to be underestimated. Do not be deceived by her tiny frame and innocent appearance; do not think for a second she’s any less capable of impossible feats than her devious associates. This prey animal bites back- and she’ll take a chunk outta ya when she does so, too.

do people know that instead of getting annoyed at people who misinterpret or miss a part of your art in the image IDs they write you you could just write an ID yourself and have it express exactly what you want it to express 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

ok without knowing anything about OP or their ideology past this post i feel like —in isolation—this post can give people a misguided idea of anti-capitalism in archeological academia. and while i (an undergrad w massive hubris) wouldn't dare to debate an actual archeologist, i do want to add additional context from a marxist perspective, for my non archeologist mutuals.
the concept OP here is thinking about is industrial capitalism. capitalism lato sensu can be argued to have existed since the appearance of capital. we aren't 100% sure exactly when this happened chronology, but traditionally for the European archeological record it's been identified during the Neolithic*. the classic Marxist thesis is that the things OP lists above (socioeconomic inequality, misogyny in particular the patriarchy as an institution, unilateral rule....) appear as a result of the privatization of property**. this has notably been explained in Engels' The Origin of The Family, Private Property and the State. OP probably already knows all this, because it's historiography 101, i don't mean to sound condescending.
but i don't like OP's criticism that "inequality existed before capitalism" because it ignores a key thing. in fact my guy Marx's whole "historic materialism" deal is precisely that capital has been ruining our lives forever, even before the industrial revolution! and while i am a bit lukewarm myself about using the concept of "class" before the industrial revolution, or any kind of deterministic analysis of history***—i cannot ignore that Marx and his colleagues have thought extensively about the apparent contradiction that OP is highlighting. when people identify capitalism as the source of all that inequality, they are talking about capital, as Marx described. it isn't a mistake, it's historic materialism.
a significant part of archeological scholarship has been lead by marxist and anarchist archeologists, precisely because that analytical framework can even be applied to eras before the Industrial Revolution. im not going to criticize OP for not adding this longass disclaimer before a 100 word tumblr post, but i do think that not including it is giving an unfair view of all marxist historic materialism has postulated.
tldr: what OP criticizes above isn't a mistake, it's historic materialism. the existence of inequality before the industrial revolution has been integrated by Marx into "problems caused by capitalism" because it steams from capital, not necessarily "industrial capitalism" as a specific mode of production.
* this thesis was obviously formulated in a time where we knew way less about prehistory than we do now, but when exactly socioeconomic inequality emerged is still a HUGE debate topic in academia. the original placement during the Neolithic has shifted (but it's mostly been a chronological change rather than a change in the theoretical basis). regardless, marxist analysis of this topic are still a bigass deal on the academic field today.
** whether the Marxist thesis holds or not depends on who you ask. there's a lot of things that emerged in Western Neolithic&Metal Ages (private property, objects denoting prestige, division of labor, clearly identifiable elites, individual burials with a dowry...) all of which seem to be interconnected, but proving causalty is basically impossible. which came first and the nature of their correlation depends on who you ask. same pieces, different way of assembling them. however, a—admittedly less dogmatic—marxist view is still popular among researchers.
***i by no means think marx was deterministic but i do think some 20th century marxists got a bit too lost in the economic sauce and ignored other important aspects (re: poststructural focous on society&culture)
