Our bodies evolved to follow daily rhythms, influencing our sleeping and waking patterns and our usual mealtimes. These rhythms are based on circadian clocks that allow our bodies to stay in tune with the day-night cycle in our environment.
Circadian rhythms are controlled by a set of biological mechanisms termed molecular clocks, which are found in every cell and organ. The body also has a ‘master clock’, which is in a part of the brain called the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN). The SCN is the body’s main ‘timekeeper’ and coordinates all our daily cycles of biological processes and behaviours.

Baby Fever and Tech Support
Bayverse Donatello x Fem!Reader
i have a fucking baby fever rn 😭
Tumblr media
You weren’t planning on falling in love with a baby today.
But the moment your cousin handed you her newborn — tiny, soft, and swaddled in a blanket with little ducks — it hit you like a freight train of hormones and hope.
His little fingers curled around yours. His eyes blinked open for half a second before fluttering shut again, face scrunching in a yawn so adorable it could melt concrete.
You were done for.
Totally and completely done for.
By the time you got home, your brain was already somewhere in fantasy land. A fantasy land that, unfortunately, involved a big soft turtle in purple goggles and your shared hypothetical future.
You collapsed onto your couch with a sigh, heart still aching from the cuteness.
The window slid open fifteen minutes later, and Donnie poked his head in.
“You texted me four crying emojis, one baby bottle, and a duck,” he said, climbing in. “So either you’re extremely sleep-deprived or emotionally compromised.”
“I met my cousin’s baby today,” you said dreamily.
Donnie blinked. “Ah. So… emotionally compromised.”
You reached into your pocket and showed him a photo. It was blurry, sure, but the little bundle was clearly sleeping on your chest.
“He’s so soft, Don. He made this squeaky noise when he yawned. And he smelled like baby lotion and fresh blankets and literal joy—”
You stopped.
Because Donnie had the face. The processing-too-many-variables-and-also-mildly-panicking face.
You softened, patting the spot next to you. “Relax, genius. I’m not saying I’m ready to pop one out tomorrow.”
He hesitated, then slowly sat beside you. “Okay. Good. Because biologically, I’m not sure how that would even—wait. That came out wrong.”
You laughed, nudging his arm. “It’s not about the logistics, Don. I just… I guess I got hit with a little baby fever. That’s all.”
He tilted his head. “Like… a temporary hormonal longing for nurturing and offspring prompted by exposure to an infant?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Exactly. And leave it to you to make it sound like a science project.”
He adjusted his glasses with a sheepish grin. “Sorry. Coping mechanism.”
You leaned your head on his shoulder, your voice a little softer now. “I just didn’t expect to feel it so hard, you know? Seeing him so tiny… made me think about the future. Our future.”
Donnie went very still.
You felt it — the tension in his frame, the inhale he held a beat too long. But then, instead of pulling away, he slowly wrapped an arm around your shoulders.
“I think about it too,” he admitted quietly.
You blinked. “You do?”
He nodded. “I mean… I don’t exactly know what it would look like. But I know it includes you. That much is clear.”
Your heart squeezed.
“And yeah,” he continued, now fidgeting with the edge of your throw blanket. “The idea of tiny, squishy… half-you people running around kind of fries my brain a little. But also? It doesn’t scare me as much as it used to. Not with you.”
You smiled into his shoulder, tears pricking your eyes. “You’d be a great dad, you know.”
He gave a soft, breathy laugh. “I’d be a paranoid, overly-researched, baby-monitor-hacking, formula-analyzing wreck.”
“Exactly,” you said. “And perfect.”
You both sat in silence for a moment, your head tucked under his chin, his fingers idly tracing patterns on your arm.
“…How small was his hand?” Donnie asked suddenly.
You held up your pinky finger. “Like, this small. Maybe smaller.”
He blinked, amazed. “Incredible. I could probably 3D print a baby bottle one-handed, y’know.”
You chuckled. “Oh, I know. You’d make a baby carrier with built-in UV sensors and bottle warmers.”
Donnie looked pleased with that mental image. “And a nightlight with adjustable circadian rhythm settings.”
“…And goggles that play lullabies.”
“Bluetooth-enabled.”
You laughed again, this time full-bellied, imagining a baby wearing techy purple Donatello goggles.
But then something shifted in the silence. Something warm and real.
Donnie looked down at you with a soft expression. “If you… ever want to talk seriously about it. Someday. I mean, long down the road. I’d like that.”
Your breath caught.
You turned to face him fully, your eyes searching his. “You really mean that?”
“I do.” His voice was steady now. “Whatever the future brings — as long as it includes you — I want to be ready for it.”
You leaned forward and kissed him. It was slow, deep, a little shaky from how full your chest felt.
When you pulled back, you whispered, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied, a little breathless.
Then, with a small smirk: “Although if we do eventually have kids, I’m installing motion sensors in the nursery.”
“And I’m naming the baby,” you countered.
“Deal,” he grinned.

there needs to be a vampire story that really solely narrows in on the nocturnality of vampirism. The sun doesn't even have to kill them, they just have such a strong innate circadian rhythm that they are basically inable to function in mainstream society. Their loved ones slowly drift out of their lives as they can't keep up with family, their fatigue is so strong that they can't attend daytime functions... and the inverse is true for their closest friends, who just don't have the energy to be up all night like when they were young. But the vampire will always be 'young', and they have to keep living. The only jobs that they can keep are ones with night shifts, hopefully something like a restaurant or bar...but often, and eventually, ones that mean danger. And most of all, they feel hunger at night, and the more and more they stay up and feed, the stronger they slip into the pattern of nocturnality. There are less people awake at night, and none of these people are the same people from the world before. The world is smaller, and darker, and different. And it has always existed, while they had slept. And it will exist while everyone they loved, slept.

When your Character is Sleep Deprived
Tumblr media
Sleep Deprivation - occurs when you don’t routinely get sufficient sleep at night.
Seven to eight hours of quality sleep time is the baseline for most adults, yet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one third of American adults suffer from measurable sleep loss.
This lack of sleep can lead to disruptions in everyday life, from grogginess and delayed reaction times to serious medical conditions.
Causes of Sleep Deprivation
Many factors can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep. These include:
Sleep disorders: Certain conditions like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome can interfere with healthy sleep.
Mental health conditions: Depression and anxiety can be sources of severe sleep deprivation.
External stimuli: Loud noises, bright lights, and hot temperatures can all prevent you from getting enough sleep.
Work schedules: Shift work at night can clash with your natural circadian rhythms and trigger sleep deprivation.
Physical activity: Exercise can inhibit sleep onset if scheduled too close to bedtime.
Effects of Sleep Deprivation
The consequences of sleep deprivation can be serious. A person operating on insufficient sleep may face increased risk of the following effects.
Daytime drowsiness: A poorly rested person can go through the day feeling groggy. This can lead to drowsy driving, car accidents, mental slip-ups, and poor cognition.
Microsleep: In addition to general drowsiness, a person running on very little sleep can experience microsleep—very short bursts of unconsciousness that feel like blacking out.
Mood swings: A person overcome by sleepiness may be cranky and irritable, and they may also experience headaches that further sour their mood.
Memory issues: Poor sleep patterns that cause a person to get less sleep have the potential to affect memory recall.
Tips for Avoiding Sleep Deprivation
To ensure you get consistent and sufficient sleep duration, consider the following strategies.
Stick to a bedtime routine. Sleep difficulties can stem from inconsistent schedules and routines. Improve your sleep hygiene by creating consistent sleep habits and a bedtime routine. This may involve stretching, an evening shower, or a cup of tea.
Avoid digital screens before bed. The blue light of electronics can mimic the effects of sunlight and prevent your body from entering its natural sleep cycle. Keep digital devices out of the bedroom, and when you must use them before bed, use a blue light filter that keeps the most disruptive light out of your eyes.
Consider a natural sleep remedy. Supplemental melatonin can help you fall asleep when your routine sleep schedule has been disrupted. Take care to not build reliance on sleep medications that may dampen the restorative effects of REM sleep and non-REM sleep.
Lower the temperature of your bedroom. A nighttime room temperature of 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit signals to your brain that it’s time to sleep.
Practice mindful relaxation techniques. A bedtime ritual of deep breathing exercises and slow exhales can promote progressive muscle relaxation. Mindfulness can also eliminate tension while allowing your body to drift into drowsiness and get enough hours of sleep.
Monitor your health conditions. Certain medical conditions, like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome, can impair sleep onset and deprive you of sleep over the course of the night. Seek medical advice for handling such conditions, and work with your healthcare provider to develop treatment and coping strategies.

I haz an idea cause I love Jazz being a big sis/guardian dynamic with Damian. Jazz gets turned into a blanket. either by a magical mishap or an enemy's curse. Eventually, blanket Jazz ends up in the Al Ghul's custody and becomes Damian's baby blanket.
On the surface, Damian's blanket seems normal enough, and if Talia wasn't an heiress that could delegate simple tasks to others, she might have noticed a few oddities. Like the fact the blanket stayed fresh and clean, no matter what Damian dragged it through. or that it didn't have the normal ware and tear even with the years passing by. The only weird thing she took note of was occasionally finding a dead assassin who had been smothered by the blanket near a sleeping little Damian.
The Bats didn't question it. Blankies are a normal thing of childhood, and with how few normal experiences Damian has, they didn't want ruin something this harmless; even if Damian was getting a little old to be carrying his comfort blanket almost everywhere he went. Though everyone except Jason found the blanket itchy and would lightly complain about it if Damian brought it near.
(I did a spit take when I saw this ask, but I love it lmaooo)
Damian woke up to his circadian rhythm naturally, but as he tried to shuffle out of his bed, the air seemed too cold and his blankets too cozy. Eventually, he stopped struggling and just let himself be swallowed back into his sheets, rubbing his face against his soft blanket.
It was an intricately patterned blanket, with one fluffy side that was pure black with the other side being one of a wooly side that had the pattern, one with red-orange and turquoise colors.
This blanket had kept him warm for many years and although it occasionally pained Damian to admit it, this blanket was his greatest source of comfort and protection. He loved it very much. After all, even when he didn’t have his Mother around to hold him, he had the blanket.
Eventually, as the morning continued and Damian could no longer find excuses to stay in bed, he eventually crawled out from underneath his covers, his blanket wrapped around him like a hooded cape. Tucking the ends around his neck, he took the long, arduous trek out of his room to the kitchen.
Stephanie passed him on the way, freeloading off of them as always before she blinked at the sight of Damian cocooned in his blanket.
She smiled and cooed. “Awww, are you cold, Dami?” She teased, reaching over to ruffle his hair through the blanket. However, she quickly pulled her hand back with a wince. “Ow! Static!”
Damian rolled his eyes. “Whatever, Brown. I am not cold, I am merely… protecting myself against you cretins if you decide to ambush me at breakfast.”
Stephanie raised an eyebrow before she muttered to herself, “I guess it is true that your blankie is always clean, somehow…”
“It is not a blankie! Do not call it disrespectful names!” Damian retorted but wanted to swallow back his tongue at the leering look in Stephanie’s eyes. Thankfully, she didn’t say another word before they arrived.
When they both stepped into the dining hall, Tim spotted them first. “Morning,” he mumbled with a yawn, before shoving more pancakes into his mouth. Jason looked up from his plate and then stood up, rounding the table and then picking up Damian silently. He went back to his seat, placing Damian on his lap like a hot water bottle.
Damian scowled but ultimately did not complain.
The combination of Jason’s body heat and his beloved blanket made for a heavenly experience.
Tim snorted. “I don’t know how you can manhandle Damian when he’s wrapped up like that. Actually, I don’t know how you do it either, Damian. That blanket is so itchy!”
“Agreed! It keeps giving me static shocks, too!” Stephanie complained.
“It does not!” Damian complained, stroking the back of his fluffy blanket. One side was fluffy, the other side was soft, and this blanket had never failed him in doing its duties. “You must have sensitive skin or something.” Damian snorted contemptuously. “My skin is much tougher than you two. That must be why you can’t handle it.”
Jason snorted. “Just shut up and eat, demon brat. You definitely talk too much.” Then he jumped, jostling Damian. “Ow! Static!”
“See?!” Stephanie cried. “I swear that thing has a mind of its own!”
Tim grumbled, “Yeah, and it’s on Damian’s side.”
Damian couldn’t help but stick out his tongue. Jason pulled his plate over to his side and as if trying to appease him, began feeding him blueberry pancakes. Damian allowed it, wrapping his blanket around him tighter, nuzzling into its warm confines and soft, comforting fabric as he chewed syrup soaked pancakes.
He could admit sometimes that his blanket was definitely strange and probably enchanted.
But no matter what, it was his. And Damian would be damned if anyone took it away!

maybe sleep hcs for Arthur?
Thank you for requesting this! I imagine you mean like...sleeping as in...actually taking a nap? ahah hope you like these, they were cute to think about!
Tumblr media
Arthur Sleeping Habits
Sleeps on his back, hands folded on his stomach. Stays like that the whole night and doesn’t move an inch. He's so still sometimes people worry and try to check on him.
Which is a MISTAKE. By God, DO NOT startle Arthur Morgan awake! He will shoot and his gun is right there! If not on his table it could still be at his hip or even under his pillow.
Contrary to what many would believe, he's actually not a snorer.
He’s very quick at falling asleep, generally just needs to close his eyes, but even faster at waking up.
His sleeping pattern is absurd. Could go for days with no sleep, to lay in his bed for up to 15 hours ininterrupted. Hosea once tried warning him about his circadian rhythm, but Arthur simply shrugged him off.
When he’s sleeping with someone he’ll tend to be the bigger spoon but end up little spoon somewhere in the night.
If he's drunk you can have a full fledged conversation with him while he sleeps. He won't make all that sense but will reply to ALL your questions. Don't worry if out of the blue he drawls "beware the graveyards" with no further context.

Ever found yourself out of sync with normal sleep patterns after late nights or working a night shift? It could be you're experiencing what scientists call social jet lag. The term describes the misalignment between our internal body clock (circadian rhythm) and our social schedule. Social jet lag associated with irregular sleep patterns and inconsistent exposure to daylight is increasingly common, and has been linked with a weakened immune system.

dogged pursuit. dr veritas ratio. p2 of ? but you don't need to read part 1 but if you want to it's here summary: you've been appointed as the bodyguard of one doctor veritas ratio after a failed attempt on his life. he's easy to get along with, so long as you learn when to plug your ears and focus on his washboard abs. tags. suggestive content, reader insert is a bit of a freak
“You’re up early,” you remark idly as you trudge down the stairs. Because it frankly is. The sun’s barely risen. Watery light washes in through the partly opened blinds. A brief glance out the window sees the narrowed streets mostly barren, only a few comers and goers. A woman jogs with her dog. A couple in floral shirts and sandals walks by, chatting leisurely.
Ratio stands in front of the stove, spatula in hand.
“I wake up at six in the morning every day,” Veritas informs you. On the skillet, something that looks suspiciously like bacon and eggs sizzle. The egg is a little too brown to be an egg like you’re familiar with—the ones on your home planet have a bright blue yolk. “Waking up at a consistent time each morning ensures you sleep better every night. You should give it a try. It might fix that Rube Goldberg machine you call your circadian rhythm.”
“Hmm. I’ll have to do that, then,” you say, bending over the kitchen eyeland to peer at him. He’s wearing a white apron with pale blue gingham patterning. It is, most unfortunately, not the frilly kind like you might have hoped. The tie still cinches around that pretty waist, the pearlescent fabric of his robes bunching up where it’s fastened, strings pulled into a little bow. His robes end just above his knees. Like this, you can peer down at his calves. His ankles.
Are you really getting off on this guy’s ankles? Shit. You kick off the island and sway around it, crossing your arms and leaning up against the counter, next to the stove.
Here, you can admire the flex of his hands, the handsome curve of his nose. His dark lashes are thick, fanning over his cheek every time he blinks. “Any other advice you’re willing to give, Doc? I’m all ears.”
Your fingers wiggle as you exaggeratedly reach over the pan, aiming to pinch a piece of bacon off the popping, hot surface. He swats you away with a scowl.
“I did not have to make enough for us both,” he reminds you, warning you. “The least you could do is wait.”
“You’re so right, Doc. Patience breeds success and all that,” you nod factually, attempting to look as remorseful as possible for your attempted pilfering.
He rolls his eyes, and motions over to the sink. Next to it, two mugs are sat. Steam steadily rises from each one. You blink over at them, and then look back to your long-suffering companion. It takes a moment for you to put two and two together, utterly unprepared for him to be so kind to you.
“For me?” you ask, unable to keep the tender pitch out of your voice because—wow, shit, he really thought about you. He’s cooking for you. It’s a heady kind of feeling that fills you, then. This kind of domesticity is so often out of reach for a person who lives your kind of life—but the esteemed Doctor Veritas Ratio is wearing a cute little apron and laboring over the stove, for you (and himself, but he’s being nice enough to share, and that’s enough to get you going).
He lifts his head from his labors, looking at you with a gauging but otherwise indiscernible expression.
“Yes,” he says, softest you’ve heard him all morning. “Drink your coffee and sit down.” He commands, but it sounds more like he’s griping at you.

Hello I worship at the altar of you and your beautiful wrinkly brain 🙂‍↕️ I have been very curious about one Yang JEONGIN and evolving/ascending abnormals.
1) is it like vampire puberty? Do they go through wild hormonal rages?
2) does he know what’s happening to him?
3) how???
I await your response with bated breath 😌
Xoxo, 🐉
my pretty dragon~ welcome to the blood roster, 🐉. you now have unrestricted lab access. this one’s not just lore. this is virology with fangs.
· · ──────༺♱༻────── · ·· · ──────༺♱༻────── · ·· · ──────
🧬 THE EVOLUTION OF JEONGIN
A Study in Mutation, Awakening, and Biological Betrayal
First: no. There’s no such thing as vampire puberty. No hormonal surges. No emotional teenager tantrums with fangs. That’s human projection.
What does happen? Is mutation. Spontaneous. Violent. Permanent.
WHAT THE FUCK IS AN ABNORMAL?
Ask any vampire scholar and they’ll give you three words:
“Gods made wrong.”
Abnormals aren’t turned. They aren’t infected. They aren’t created through magic or ritual. They are born — but they are not born right.
🩸 THE LEADING THEORY: GENETIC MUTATION
Vampire scientists call it the X-𝜃 gene — unofficially known as the Abnormality Mutation. It is not inherited in a classic Mendelian pattern. It breaks genetic logic. And it defies magical bloodline predictions.
The first recorded Abnormal? Born to two normal vampires. No family history. No known spell damage. But from birth: accelerated development, uncontrolled bloodlust, and an aura that melted wards on contact. Doctors tried magical suppression. Witches attempted blood-stabilization rituals. Nothing worked.
They could not suppress what never obeyed laws to begin with.
🔬 CURRENT WORKING MODEL: A RARE, SPONTANEOUS MUTATION
The X-𝜃 gene appears to:
Override standard vampire regulatory genes (e.g. those controlling bloodlust thresholds, regenerative speed, magical dampening)
Create non-linear power responses (i.e. feedback loops, surges, uncontrolled magic under stress)
Disrupt circadian/sunlight sensitivity genes entirely
Stimulate non-traditional energy pathways (Abnormals can metabolize emotional input: fear, lust, devotion)
The problem? There’s no single genetic pattern. It doesn’t run cleanly in families. It skips generations, reappears randomly, sometimes even activates mid-life (see: Jeongin).
🩸 ADDITIONAL HYPOTHESES:
✦ 1. Magical Environmental Trigger
Some believe the mutation is not fully genetic — that it lies dormant and is triggered by exposure to certain ancient magics, trauma, or spiritual fractures. This would explain:
Delayed awakenings (like Jeongin at 18)
Abnormals emerging from formerly Normal bloodlines
✦ 2. The “Reversion Theory”
Proposed by a rogue scholar. He states that Abnormals are not new — but a reversion to the original vampire species, pre-civilization. Before rules. Before enchantments. The “gods made wrong” weren’t wrong — they were just too real.
“Abnormals are the truth of vampirism, buried under generations of domestication.”
Most vampires refuse to acknowledge this theory due to its existential implications.
✦ 3. The Anti-Evolution Hypothesis
Some researchers believe the Abnormal mutation is a flawed evolutionary hiccup — one that grants immense power but guarantees instability. Like giving a child a loaded weapon: Powerful, yes — but self-destructive unless anchored by extreme regulation.
This is why Chan, despite being born Abnormal, still works tirelessly through Nocte Labs to decode it. He’s not trying to erase it. He’s trying to survive it.
“Just because I was born this way doesn’t mean I understand it. It’s still eating us alive.” — Chan, confidential Nocte memo
⚠️ WHY IT MATTERS FOR JEONGIN
Jeongin is an active subject in Chan’s ongoing mutation studies. Because he is the only documented case of a Normal born vampire:
From two Normal parents
Who began Awakening into Abnormality in early adulthood
And is approaching his biological lock age of 25
This makes Jeongin a biological anomaly inside an anomaly. And the moment he turns 25 — his cellular structure will “freeze,” locking in whatever he has become. Chan suspects he will fully Ascend.
But no one knows what a late bloomer Abnormal truly looks like after the lock. There are no records. There are no survivors.
🔎 JEONGIN: CASE STUDY
Born Normal. Normal parents. Normal bloodline. Nothing immediately strange. But when Jeongin turned 18, his body stopped obeying Normal limits.
Symptoms began:
Walking in sunlight without enchanted protection (should have burned — didn’t).
Uncontrolled sensory spikes. Could smell a lie across the room.
Pulse acceleration under moonlight.
Strength fluctuations. Once bent metal by accident.
Chan, having seen Abnormals before (and being one himself), noticed. And he’s been monitoring Jeongin ever since.
❓ WHAT IS HE NOW?
Jeongin is what vampire scientists call an Awakening Abnormal. A transitional state where the mutation is active, but not dominant.
He still has:
Some Normal weaknesses (e.g., minor sun fatigue after long exposure)
Normal magic stability
Emotional bond sensitivity
But increasingly, he also shows:
Feral reflexes under threat
Blood scent tracking
No need for glamour spells
Momentary time-bending speed
Vein bloom when angered — hallmark Abnormal sign
🎂 VAMPIRE AGING : WHY IT MATTERS
Vampires “lock” in their physical age at 21 or 25, depending on bloodline strength.
Jeongin is currently 24. Once he hits 25, his biology will lock — and if the Abnormal trait dominates by then, it becomes permanent.
Chan believes this is inevitable.
WHEN HE ASCENDS…
Once the full mutation takes hold, Jeongin will:
No longer require blood as frequently (Abnormals metabolize it differently)
Lose all sunlight sensitivity
Be immune to holy relics and emotional glamours
Become capable of soul-affecting speed and strength
Risk Overload Feedback if not stabilized (i.e., seizures, bloodcry, internal rupture)
Chan is currently working with Nocte Labs to design a stabilization ritual — something to help Jeongin maintain control once he ascends.
Because once he’s fully Abnormal? He can no longer afford to just “feel things.” Rage. Desire. Panic. All become weapons.

My Girl 💕
“Dammit girl, I didn’t wear you out that good did I?”
You flipped Deacon the middle finger as you limped to the bathroom. Peeing was rather uncomfortable, but much less than the physical act of standing, sitting, and walking. Once you were done, you returned the bed next to your Sergeant. You snuggled into his side. He caught your chin with his index finger, pulling your face to his.
“You are amazing,” he breathed before kissing you. He continued to work his lips in sync with yours. When he eased his tongue forward, you allowed him access to your mouth. His finger left your chin and was quickly replaced by his hand pressed firmly, but gently against your throat. You smiled and moaned quietly.
You still had butterflies every time Deacon kissed you like this.
A few moments later, he stopped kissing you and pulled your head to his chest. He kissed your head as he wrapped his arms around you.
“I thought you were about to give me a repeat of last night,” you said, tracing your finger in patterns on his chest.
He chuckled, “After the way I just saw you walk? Baby, you wouldn’t enjoy any part of me repeating last night. I’m not doing anything to you that you couldn’t one hundred percent love.”
You groaned in agreement.
“Touche.”
The two of you laid there, surrounded by silence and each other’s presence.
“You know?” You began again, “I have never, ever been left with a limp after a night of amazing sex.”
“I’m glad I could do that for you.”
You could hear the chuckle in his voice. “What do you say we spend today enjoying our new television, tinted bedroom windows, and blacked out bedroom? Oh, and recuperating.”
You looked up at Deacon and he winked at you.
“That sounds so perfect.”
The two of you had just blacked out your bedroom so that it was suitable for sleeping in during the day given your schedules and constantly disrupted circadian rhythm. You also had purchased a new, larger tv and you had been looking forward to getting to have a lazy day to enjoy it all.
Deacon pushed himself up so that he was leaning against the headboard and helped you position yourself between his legs, leaning back on his chest and torso. He kissed the top of your head as he channel surfed, looking for the perfect movie to watch.
You slept on and off through the first dumb comedy movie he picked. You never understood what he liked about them - you hated them. He was definitely going to repay you with a horror movie. He felt the same way about horror moves that you did about stupid comedy. And much as you loved him, you were slightly irritated when he began to speak, interrupting your movie.
“So, I was thinking….”
You huffed.
“Excuse me?”
You could hear the dominance in his tone and even as sore as you were, you couldn’t deny that it turned you on.
“I’m sorry, Deac. You know I love my horror movies.” You propped yourself up so you were looking at him.
He lifted the remote and paused the tv. “Better?” You could hear the softness return to his tone.
You giggled, “Thank you.”
“Back to what I was saying…”
“Okay?”
“What do you think about us?”
“About us?” You were confused.
“Yeah. About our future.”
Deacon pulled you into his chest and you relaxed in his warm embrace.
“I’m confused by your question, but, I see myself with you forever.”
“I want to marry you.” Deacon said.
He caught you off guard by being so forward.
You giggled, “I’m glad we have the same end goals and that you are a man who knows what you want and how to express that forwardly.”
He kissed your forehead, “I want to ring shop with you so that when the time for me to propose comes, I will pick out something that you love and want to wear forever.”
“Baby, I would love anything you wanted to buy for me.” Your hand was cradling his neck and you were lazily rubbing your thumb against his jaw.
“I know that, but still.”
“I know what you mean, though. Baby, I would be more than happy to ring shop with you.”
You felt his arms squeeze you tightly. You kissed his neck, keeping your face snuggled close to his, enjoying the scent of his skin and cologne.
“I love you so much.” He spoke softly into your hair.
You pulled your face away from his neck and kissed his cheek. He turned his face enough so that he was able to kiss you. His lips, in the middle of his goatee, were soft and gentle against yours. You didn’t need any words to feel the love your boyfriend had for you.
The two of you laid in bed, watching movies, looking at rings, and sharing passionate kisses. When supper time came around, you decided to order in. Once your food arrived, you and Deacon were in the kitchen preparing your plates. Your spotify was playing on a romance list and Tennessee Whiskey came on. Deacon sat the plate down he was putting food on and grabbed your hand.
“May I?” He kissed your knuckles and raised his eyebrows at you.
You smiled and undoubtedly blushed, “You may.”
He pulled you into his arms. He was wearing your favorite pair of his sweatpants, but otherwise was unclothed. You were in your favorite fair of panties and one of Deacon’s t-shirts. His favorite one to see you in. Your hair was in a messy bun and Deacon’s, while short, definitely was not smoothly styled like he usually did. You loved his post-sex, lazy day look. It was so unkempt, quite the opposite of him. You wrapped one arm around Deacon’s torso, and held his hand with the other. He led you in swaying back and forth in the middle of your shared kitchen. He hummed along to the song as you to danced. Your head rested on his chest, listening to the low hum in his chest.
You closed your eyes, picturing yourself dancing with Deacon to this song at your wedding reception and smiled to yourself.
You had not noticed that Deacon wasn’t humming anymore when he interrupted your thoughts, “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”
“Hmm,” you hummed, “You…. Me…. Our Wedding…”
“And this song?”
You giggled.
You didn’t have to look at Deacon to know he was grinning.
“Oh yes.”
“You are going to be the most stunning bride.” He said.
“And you,” you took his left hand and kissed his ring finger, “are going to be the best husband.”
“Ooh,” he laughed, “You had to one-up me, huh?”
You pulled your head away from his chest and looked up at him.
“Well, Sergeant, I guess you’ll have to wait until we get married to see.”
He grabbed your chin and kissed you softly,
“You’re killin’ me, girl.”
