Ding-dong, bing-bong!
Hear that? It's time for a Class Trial! Except this time, we are asking the real questions.
Out of all of the muses on this blog,
Who could come up with the greatest hero monologue?
Who could come up with the greatest villain monologue?
Who has the best poker face?
Who has been caught lying, tricking or pranking others the most?
Who would be the best caregiver to someone who was unwell?
Who would be the least responsible while babysitting/pet-sitting?
Who has the most unique party trick/talent (and what is it)?
Who has the messiest bedroom/office/workspace?
Who has the worst attention span?
Who has the worst crash-outs after losing board games or card games such as Monopoly or UNO?
- Saber
Ooh, these ARE the real questions!
Gentle Side Note for the Future: We're personally not fond of the term "crash-out," as it has a derogatory vibe towards emotional volatility, especially historically in the context of BPD. A lot of our Oumas have BPD, and so they're a bit uncomfortable with the connotations it has towards splitting episodes and the like. In casual jest, we prefer the term "gamer moment," as it sounds less serious and doesn't really have an inherent connotation to it, and can even be read as positive in some contexts.
With that out of the way, let's take a look! Of course, some of these may be lies, nishishi.....
1. Who could come up with the greatest hero monologue?
Mae insists that Cotard can and has! Which, fair I think, since he gave that entire motivational spiel in the NWP and honestly if it was anything like the canon one in the final chapter of SDR2, then I'm inclined to agree. That shit really moved me.
Kichi's also gone on some pretty thought-provoking philosophical monolgues to himself before, one of which he posted talking about lies and that kind of reads like an antihero monologue to me. So if there was an aware for best antihero monologue, it'd go to him and/or Cookie.
2. Who could come up with the greatest villain monologue?
Joker probably. He's the mastermind of his game, after all, but that's a lie.
3. Who has the best poker face?
The Izurus, hands down. They will say some of the most inane shit with a straight face purely because they know no one will believe us.
Barring that, probably Joker.
4. Who has been caught lying, tricking or pranking others the most?
Non-maliciously? Kichi, but he's been here the longest so that might be cheating. Petty's a pretty close second, though, and then there was the entire ward debacle with Loopy...
5. Who would be the best caregiver to someone who was unwell?
That really depends on the situation and the type of care they need! The Oumas are very caring, such is their nature given their Talent, but their methods depending on which one it is can vary greatly from soft guidance to the most antagonistic "psychological cornering" most are familiar with from the game.
Outside of that, Umami does well to take very good care of his Ouma, but that really only applies to his Ouma. He's capable of being a model caregiver, but only if he really sees merit in going out of his way.
Lumin is also a pretty strong contender as he and his husband practically adpoted Joker, me, and Pick.
6. Who would be the least responsible while babysitting/pet-sitting?
Prooooobably Clover (yeah, he switched back to his old name, sorry for the inconvenience!). It's not that he isn't responsible, so much as he's very forgetful for... obvious reasons. So he struggles with a lot of the things that are necessary for looking after someone or something.
7. Who has the most unique party trick/talent (and what is it)?
It's hard to really narrow things down with that, so here's a few:
Many of the Oumas like eating the most inadvisable flavor combinations in front of people just to freak them out. Think sriracha sauce on chocolate croissants and honey on pizza.
Outside of party tricks and more in the realm of funny stories and shit they do, Petty's a veteran of the Europan War, and talks a lot about how he had to eat his Amami to survive.
Bindle and his Amami choose to live in the city's sewers for no apparent reason, and are very familiar with exploring the sewers and connecting tunnels that run beneath the city.
Umami and his Ouma like to go out in the woods sometimes and get deliberately lost before Umami breaks out the compass to find their way home again, for no reason other than to manage Umami's chronic boredom.
Honorable mention to our irl friends, one of whom was challenged by Fuyuhiko to write something from his perspective, only to be shocked when they ended up literally writing his exact diary as a fanfiction, and another of whom can tell all the Oumas apart by their voice alone. The Oumas have tested this extensively, trying to trip her up with lies by switching around mid-conversation and the like. It's kind of scary!
8. Who has the messiest bedroom/office/workspace?
Cookie's immediate answer was Iru-chan, but she's not on this blog so she doesn't count www
Other than that, Cookie's DICE's wing is an organized sort of chaos because they've turned the main room into essentially a giant pillow fort, the "pillow room" they call it, and most of them prefer to pile in there to sleep together instead of in their own individual rooms.
Lumin's also reported that Joker's room is an absolute disaster zone of paper. He had a tendency to even scribble on the walls, but that at the very least Lumin and his husband insisted he clean off until he stopped.
9. Who has the worst attention span?
Probably the permaregressors, Koko or Bindle. Maybe Kichi on the rare occasions when he's regressed. The Komaedas kind of feel like cheating to say here...
10. Who has the worst gamer moments after losing board games or card games such as Monopoly or UNO?
Fuyuhiko lmao

Rewatching s11e17 Red Meat and this episode really has it all. Good fight scene. Incredible amount of hurt!Sam. Codependency. Dean being devastated over Sam dying. It even has a hot doctor. Like what more do you want from an episode. Can't wait to get to the part where they parallel Sam falling from the stairs with Dean falling to the ground from overdosing, that made me lose my shit the first time.

Free Palestine, what are you for?
Hisham al-Sayed is a mentally ill Israeli Arab Muslim man who had been taken hostage in Gaza over 10 years ago and was released this Saturday. An Israeli Arab Muslim, or, in other words, a Palestinian man, or in other words, the very population Hamas's resistance ostensibly serves. Yet it was Israel, of Jewish supremacy, apartheid and genocide fame, who agreed to release ~100 terrorist to set him free. Shaaban al-Sayed, father of released hostage Hisham:
“We were happy to start hugging him, but I saw that I was embracing something that wasn’t human. He looks human but isn’t. He can’t speak, has no voice, and has no memory of anything. It simply gives the feeling that he wasn’t with humans.”
“His mental state is dire; he is unresponsive, and he looks as if he has been in a torture camp for ten years. We never imagined Hamas could be so cruel.”
Presumably, he never could have imagined Hamas could be so cruel... to its own people. And yet, here it is.
And this, mere days after a ceremony in which Hamas displayed coffins containing the bodies of a baby and a small child (Kfir and Ariel Bibas, who notably weren't even taken and murdered by Hamas), an elderly man (Oded Lifschitz, a peace activist who had spent his time volunteering to drive Palestinians to Israel's hospitals for them to receive medical care), and a random Gazan woman whom they'd tried to pass off as the children's mother, thus desecrating a Gazan woman's corpse for no apparent purpose except to inflict more harm. People brought their families and children celebrated this. In my humble opinion, killing babies, killing even people who would go above and beyond to help Gazans, is a feature, not a bug. Because it means "Israeli" and "innocent" cannot co-exist. If we accept that an innocent Israeli exists, after all, we would have to come up with a criterion other than "Israeli" for "deserving of death". So babies and peace activists it is.
But it's not even just Israelis. It's Palestinians too, whom they abuse like they did to poor Hisham, and whom they abuse by warping innocent children's soul in atrocious displays of inhumanity, and celebrate it.
To the people who support Free Palestine - what are the values you're seeking to promote? Whom are you trying to help? I'm asking seriously, and I'm open to conversation.

They really don't give two shits about Loki and his backstory. Nor did they bother to watch first three movies (Thor 1, Avengers and TDW).
TBH I'm disappointed but not surprised. This is why I refuse to watch this bullshit show.
They did not actually make him say this
They did not just—
Tumblr media
"Remember the time I was left to die by my abusive father, got captured, tortured and threatened to be brutally murdered if I don't attack earth under constant supervision?
... Yeah, me neither because you and the producers of this show gaslit me into thinking that was just a temper tantrum of an egoistical narcissistic god."

Can you write one where the reader is supposed to executed after Shibuya cause she’s in a relationship with Gojo. I kinda want it to be angsty, but you do what you want with this!
I know you said angsty, but all I can hear is bad bitch (the elders are REALLY angsty though lol)
Gojo's wife supposedly getting executed but kicking ass instead
Tumblr media
Pairing: husband!Gojo x reader
Word Count: 1,5k
Synopsis: When Sibuya is finally over, you find yourself facing none other than the elders who want to execute you. Little do they know you are no one to be messed with, that even without your husband by your side, you are a true threat if you want to...
Warnings: lots of violence, (y/n) takes no shit in this one, language, not proofread yet
This is kinda like a continuation of this fic here
The sound of your heels clicking against the marble floor are the only thing that hangs in the air along with that deadly silence – literally.
You aren’t dumb. Of course you know why you’re here. Satoru is sealed, the only jujutsu sorcerer they were always afraid of. And since your husband is gone and nobody knows when or if he’ll return, these old farts seize their opportunity to finally get rid of you, to get rid of Yuji, to get rid of Yaga.
Well, maybe you weren’t exactly kind to them these last years. Yes, you were a pain in the ass yourself, threatening to kill every single one of them more than once. And with your husband, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer of this time, chuckling in the background, they simply had no choice but to hear you out.
Not anymore, though. Not when your husband is sealed in a tiny box with no way out.
You play with a strand of your hair while making your way to the huge door that separates you from them, containing your temper and breathing. Honestly, you couldn’t care less about the fact that they want to execute you. But Yaga, Yuji…There’s no way in hell you’ll let that happen, no way you’ll let them kill you this easily.
“You have some fucking nerve, calling me here after our last meeting. Didn’t I told you urgent enough what happens when you threaten my students?”
Confidently, you position yourself in the middle of the circled room, glaring right through their dark figures with your death stare.
“As if it’s not enough that I lost my husband in Shibuya while, if you even care about that minor detail, we all tried to save everyone in Japan from certain death. You know what would have happened if we didn’t fight until the very end, right? You know that we did all of this for the innocent people out there, right?”
Tame down your beating heart, your rushing blood. If you get angry, you might lose it all. And while Satoru supports you no matter what you do, you don’t want Yuji to look at you with those innocent disappointed eyes. No, you aren’t here to kill every single one of them.
But if one wrong word leaves their mouths, one word of disrespect against your beloved husband…
“You will be executed, (y/n) Gojo.”
You can’t contain a disrespectful huff. You, executed by those old farts? That you don’t laugh, that you don’t slaughter all of them on the spot.
“While you sat here on your old asses, my husband, I and countless others were out there fighting bravely for stranger’s life’s. Who are you to judge over mine? Who do you think you are to even consider you’d be able to take my life from me?”
Your threatful eyes seem to glow in the dark, hands clenched into fists so tightly that your own blood spills onto the marble ground.
“But all you care about is supremacy, isn’t it? Masamichi’s formula for creating independent cursed corpses, my infinite powers…You give zero fucks about the jujutsu sorcerers out there. All you care about is your puny selves”, you hiss through gritted teeth.
“Shut your mouth. You are no threat to us.”
Did you hear that correctly? That man sitting to your right didn’t just raise his voice at you, didn’t just say that you can’t hold a candle against them. Them, a room full of old farts. Them, who are too afraid to even fight. Them, who hide in this stinky room in order to protect themselves.
“Am I not?”, you mutter.
Within the blink of an eye, you throw one of your poisoned needles towards him, hitting his shoulder just how you wanted. Immediately the tension in the room is thick enough to get sliced, all elders springing up immediately.
“Come on, attack me, kill me if you dare. I couldn’t care less. Never forget that you are talking to me, (y/n) Gojo. There is a reason why Satoru married me and it certainly wasn’t to protect me.”
Oh, how much you miss him. What you would do to have Satoru back on your side.
“You are nothing without Satoru Gojo!”
“Look who’s there, the woman who just threatened the higher ups of Jujutsu High all on her own. Did you really choke that man?”
Your husband grinned at you widely, his blindfold already taken off. You simply shrugged your shoulders and smiled at him.
“Apparently I was able to convince them somehow. Come on, we should get going. I hope all of them are alright…”
God, how much you long for his tender touch, how much you’d do for him standing right by your side right now. Not to handle the situation for you, but to know you’re not alone.
Are you alone, though? Your husband might be sealed, but he isn’t dead, let alone gone. He’s still somewhere out there and thinks about you, still supports you from where ever he is. No, with Satoru as your beloved husband, you’ll never truly be alone.
“I am enough to make sure none of you will ever see the daylight again if you insist on this path. If you hurt Yuji Itadori-“
You aren’t able to finish your sentence. All of the sudden chains fly your way, trap you right in the middle of the room in the matter of seconds. For a brief moment your senses fail you, darkness summons you like a veil. Is this your end? Are they really able to bring you down this easily? You simply can’t die like that, not through their dirty hands, not when you weren’t able to say goodbye to your husband.
Your trembling breath hangs in the air, cursed metal digs into your tender flesh. Satoru…His face appears before your inner eye.
“Hey, you aren’t giving up now, aren’t ya? You’re just getting started, babe!”
You are better than them, stronger than them, braver than them. You huff to yourself, thick fear and power starts pumping through your veins. Fall seven times, stand up eight.
“Let’s get the party started.”
Their puny chains tear like threat under the sheer force of your bare arms, setting you free like a bird.
“See this as your final warning.”
Your fists discolour the room in deadly crimson, lighten up their scared faces.
“If you ever touch me or my students again.”
Fire runs through the room like a storm, lights them up, lets their flesh melt away like butter.
“I will kill every single one of you without blinking. Every. Single. One.”
Their desperate screams fill you with satisfaction while you keep going, shooting your poisoned needles their way, letting each one of them collapse underneath the weight of their sins.
“I kindly advise you to never mess with any member of the Gojo clan. Even though I’m not my husband, I’m definitely strong enough to end every life in this room if you keep threatening my students, friends and myself. If you ever dare to call me again…”
You snap, sending another wave of cursed fire their way.
“Well, maybe not do that. Now excuse me, I have to look after my students and figure out how to free my husband. See you never again.”
With one last satisfied grin, you turn on your heels and walk out, closing the door behind you for what you hope forever.
Was this the right thing to do? Did you cross a line you shouldn’t have crossed? Maybe you put Yuji in even more danger, maybe Masamichi still gets executed.
No.
Stop your train of thoughts.
This is not the right time to doubt yourself. They want to execute you, want to wipe you from this earth without a trace?
“That I don’t laugh…”, you mutter to yourself.
“There you are, Gojo-sensei! I was looking for you!”
A gentle smile creeps up your face and makes you forget about what just happened immediately.
“Hey, how are you feeling today, Yuji? Did Shoko treat your wounds?”, you question, gently wrapping your arm around the pink-haired boy who went to hell and back.
“I was thinking about a way to free Gojo-sensei and I’d love to try it with you! Oh, your uniform is a little burned. Are you alright?”
His eyes dart all over your body worried while you can’t fight a wide grin any longer.
“That? Oh, nothing for you to worry about. Come on, show me what you’ve find out.”
Bonus:
“Can you imagine? They called me to literally execute me. Wanna know what I did?”
“You bet I do…”, Satoru mumbles to himself on top of a pile of bones.
“I kinda burned them to the ground. But don’t worry, I am almost certain they survived. Hopefully they’ll leave Yuji, Masamichi an me alone now. But I think that could have consequences, so maybe move your ass out of that cube a little faster”, you bubble.
Satoru lets out a heartfelt laugh. So you really threatened the elders again? No wonder he married you, that force of a woman.
“I’ll come back to you babe. And then we’ll  both kick their asses together.”

What might decolonization in the US after a successful socialist revolution look like? Would there be one big government still? A sort of union of socialist republics? Something else entirely? Honestly I don't know how to ask.
Post-revolutionary decolonization (and realistically, the only kind of meaningful decolonization that is ever happening) in the US is a complicated matter given the relative success of the USAmerican genocidal project. The native population is 1.1% of the total population as of the 2020 census, this means that unlike in other, incomplete, settler projects such as the Sahrawi Republic or Palestine, it isn't feasible to restore the relation of the native population to the totality of the country. Regardless of population proportions though, the main focus of socialist decolonization is the struggle against any conflict between nationalities by removing the economic basis of that antagonism, which would then allow to also begin to remove the cultural elements that reinforced that dynamic of oppression. The focus is not to create more landlords but native, it's to remove the structure around private property in general, and make sure every worker, native or otherwise, receives as is needed. Taking into account the already relative dispossession of native people even before a pre-revolution context, there will have to be a great effort to bring the conditions of native people at the same level of non-native people.
Regarding the form of the new state, this will evidently depend on the form of the US state as the revolution happens. In other countries this would not be such a pressing question, but given the role and strength of the USAmerican bourgeoisie, it's not hard to believe that for any revolution to take place, the US state would need to be considerably weakened. Keeping this in mind, the strategy followed by all hitherto socialist revolutions is to not further fragment the new state. Given the complexity of navigating the construction of the first elements of a socialist economy, with the simultaneous effort needed for security, it would be both counterproductive and hypocritical to explicitly seek the independence of a portion of the population, as a part of the political program, it would be taking two steps forward and one step back. The communist revolution is national in form, because it happens within the structure of the capitalist state, but it is also international in content, because it explicitly repudiates the division of the proletariat along national lines.
We must understand that nationality, as much as it is relevant today and as much as it influences the course of history, is a byproduct of the development of capitalism, and that since it arose from the infrastructure to justify and protect it, it will also have to seize to exist and be replaced with proletarian internationalism for the duration of the transition to socialism-communism. Keeping this in mind, it would be hypocritical and regressive to, after taking control of the state and beginning the transition away from capitalism, to then turn around and divide the working class of the new country into even more national categories than they already are divided into.
The early USSR is a good comparison because of the sheer quantity of national diversity contained within the bounds of the corpse of the Tsarist Empire. The policy of the bolsheviks was neither of Russian supremacy or of immediate splintering into hundreds of nation states. Even during the very complicated and desperate context of the civil war, Finland was allowed its independence without much fuss from the CC, even if they were immediately incorporated into the German sphere via Von Mannerheim. When the 1936 constitution was being discussed, it was Stalin himself who went against the wishes of many bolsheviks to prevent the republics from gaining independence if they wished. No republics requested this however, because the oppressive mechanisms of capitalism and feudalism that had kept them under the Tsar's thumb for centuries had been replaced with an economic system that assured the equal development of all peoples within the USSR. The USSR itself was also not absolutely centralist, and the many constituent republics had varying degrees of autonomy, reflecting in some aspects the structure of democratic centralism.
I don't think the answer is to replicate the USSR, of course. The context and general state of things are very different, but there are lessons to be learnt from this successful, albeit flawed, tackling of the national question. Again though, we can't really speculate on the way that the US will look right before a revolution, and consequently the structures and problems a revolutionary government will have to start from.

During the Troubles, Civil Rights Leaders went to Ireland to learn about the plight of the Irish people and to support their fight against colonialism.
Standing on the success of their nonviolent principles which led to civil liberties here (to whatever degree the CRM was successful) and in their ignorance of the history of Ireland, they tried to get the IRA to adopt nonviolent, peaceful civil disobedience.
At the end of their tour of Belfast, where they learned the history and politics of Irish resistance, all of them come to the conclusion that here violence is necessary. The Irish have exhausted all other means including nonviolent ones. Even if some of the CRM leaders maintained nonviolence as paramount, they understood that certain exceptions must be made because — regardless of if they approve of violence or not — their job is to support colonized people and follow their lead.
There is a lesson here that we should apply to the Palestinian struggle.
I’ve seen people pearl clutch over seeing so many dead Palestinians as part of the colonial violence of the camera. This misses the point of why those images are being shared.
Last decade many Black americans, myself included, talked about the commodification of Black death. videos of state murder plastered on every news channel 24/7, going viral across social media platforms connected to the legacy of lynching postcards and gator bait. We demonstrated that those videos rarely got an indictment and only once a conviction. Many of the families of these victims of police murder made it clear they don’t want the image of their loved one to be of death. The reason why we share Michael Brown’s graduation photo instead of the photo of his corpse is because Lesley McSpadden demanded it. With all this in mind, we understand that in most cases the sharing of those images are antiblack.
The Palestinians do not have that history. The Nakba never happened, despite israelis calling this the second Nakba. genocide joe said 40 israeli babies were beheaded after it was found out that the story was some wingnut footsoldier’s lie, not even official israeli hasbara. It was like 2 weeks ago that genocide joe said the number of murdered Palestinians (at the time around 5,000 Palestinians were martyred — the number is now over 10,000) was a Hamas lie.
Linguistically there is no murdered Palestinian. All the headlines read “x amount of israelis killed and some palestinians died”. visually there is no dead Palestinian. official israeli hasbara is trying to flood social media with videos of patient-actors getting into place in Indonesian medical training programs to “debunk” the countless videos of martyred Palestinians.
The denial of the scale of israel’s genocide of the Palestinians is so bad that reporters in Gaza are holding dead children in front of press cameras because Palestinians do not die and are not murdered.
The profit motive of these images is actually in their absence. not their over saturation like with Black americans. The west needs israel as a destabilizing force in the middle east. The strategy of the western media then is to bury these images, to not give them a second of attention. So logically the Palestinian strategy is to proliferate these images to show just how horrifying israel’s crimes are.
Two things can be true at the same time; what works for you doesn’t necessarily work for me etc.
The other thing i’m seeing are liberal frameworks to understand genocide. Of particular ire is desirability politics. *jujubee voice* just say white supremacy.
Desirability is tertiary at best. israel is genociding Palestinians because they want control over Gaza and the West Bank (and Lebanon too). They are not genociding Palestinians because Palestinians are “undesirable.” They make Palestinians undesirable to justify taking their land. Talking about this psychoanalytic bullshit distracts from the primary reason for the displacement and mass murder of Palestinians: the taking of their land.
~*desirability*~ is just one way that israel tries to justify its crimes. Desirability is a circular logic that can only make sense once you manufacture its premise irl. It means nothing without the material conditions it claims are true. Its super easy to call someone an animal after you put them in a cage. It’s super easy to call a people dirty savages after you restrict their access to water. It’s super easy to call someone violent after you sequester them in small, barely livable spaces and stress them with bombings and check points.
It’s also — there’s a way in which opposition to something reifies the very thing that you oppose. Toni Morrison continues to beat everybody’s ass. What does it do when you see a baby with half a skull and say “this happened because she is undesirable”? Undesirable to whom? Not me.
Palestinians are not so passive as to oppose white supremacy and desirability. The Palestinian people are a proactive people. Palestine is the issue. Palestine has a people. Palestine has an ecology. Palestine has life. Palestine is life. Palestinians fight for life. life can neither exist nor blossom under white supremacy.
Any analysis that does not begin with this is a distraction. And distractions only benefit the colonizers.

Peter....I can feel him slipping through my fingers.... ...Peter-posting......
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hp becomes so fucking good when you start reading it like peter pettigrew is the main character... 🐀
the portrait of a single unfulfilled desire, so complicated and ruinous, that a well-meaning schoolboy left 14 corpses piled behind him. he has an order of merlin first class. he was a truly good person before it unspooled him— not pureblood madness or blood supremacy— the simple maddening daily farce of all the wanting and not-having!!
i want a furious, condescending peter. full of disdain. ALWAYS kept inside, hidden, private, meek, buried. peter as a charmingly gap-toothed beam of light, bundled smiling and shy and sunburnt from the countryside. peter as apex predator, someone who won in the end, at a cost that is frankly unthinkable. but who still won!

Legacy of Vader - Issue 4 Thoughts
Tumblr media
"It was not the love that gave Vader power. It was the loss. He was not afraid to grow attached, to allow one thing to become the center of his universe. There is strength in that. Focus. Vader's fear of losing Padmé made it possible for him to do anything--anything--to keep her safe. Do you not see how powerful that is? It meant he did not limit himself as other Jedi did. There were no rules for Darth Vader. If you find something similar which to center yourself, then you, too, would know no limits." Vaneé
"I have no limits now." Kylo Ren
"Is that true? You have everything you need, everything you desire? If that were so, I suspect you might not have come to me. But if I am wrong, take your saber and strike me down, and our travels together will cease." Vaneé
Issue 4 of Legacy of Vader is amazing, and the start of Kylo Ren's journey into learning how Naboo plays a major role in his grandfather's backstory. What I really like about this issue is that we get to see how while Vaneé has yet another good point about what made Vader strong in the Dark Side, we also get to see how Kylo Ren's "kill the past" beliefs have a point based on what he saw of Naboo's present day.
The opening wastes no time establishing a sense of dread when Kylo Ren asks Hux about their capabilities of destroying worlds without Starkiller Base and the Supremacy. After Hux confirms they can decimate a world through their navy rather than blowing them up, we're taken back to Naboo two days ago. Kylo Ren's potential target becomes clear.
I really love Naboo's fate post-GCW. It makes sense for the world to sharply decline with the accusation of Naboo's perceived collaboration with the Empire, and conflict arose over how some believe certain Naboo citizens who had profited from helping the Empire and being associated with the Emperor should be punished. It also explains why we don't see Naboo in the ST Era, given the state of the world.
The nod to Marlowe and Vellis San Tekka is a nice callback, especially since Soule created those characters.
Tumblr media
I find it hilarious how Kylo Ren dismisses Palpatine as irrelevant because in one year in-universe, he'll become very relevant to him.
I really love how Vaneé summed up Anakin and Padme's love story and how it fueled Anakin's Dark Side, especially at the end of his recap. It was chilling when Vaneé mentioned how Anakin never let go of Padmé, with the image showing him choking her on Mustafar. Anakin never let her go indeed...
It's funny to see Kylo misinterpret Vaneé's words that he needs to fall in love to gain power. It continues to show how much he jumps to conclusions. But then Vaneé went back to haunting when he pretty much summarizes why Vader's attachment to Padmé gave him no limits to what he would do to protect her. The imagery of Vader standing over the skeletons and corpses is incredibly haunting.
I like Kylo flashing back to Rey and him fighting the Praetorian Guards. It really shows how much he desires companionship, a meaningful connection with someone who truly understands who he is. I'm no Reylo fan, but I like the platonic connection between the two.
"I suppose this was Palpatine's mansion? Destroyed by rioters after his death or plundered or wrecked in some pedestrian, fruitless attempt at symbolic revenge?" Kylo Ren
"Actually, my Prince, this home belongs to--" Vaneé
"I don't care. Palpatine is irrelevant to me. He's dead. I am interested in the one who killed him, Darth Vader. You told me this place was important to my grandfather's rise to power. I do not see it. You have wasted my time, Vaneé." Kylo Ren
"I have not, my Prince. Naboo was tangential to the Emperor's path. But for Vader's path, it was central. You saw his path on Tatooine...You felt it. But the pain and power that came from this place was so much greater. You see...Naboo is where Vader fell in love. Padmé Amidala, Queen of Naboo and then a Galactic Senator in her own right. Your grandmother. A powerful, brilliant woman, a worthy match for your grandfather. From a young age, Vader set his sights on her. He did not rest until they were joined forever--wedded on this very world. And if there is anything to be said about Darth Vader, it is this. Once he had Padmé...He never let go." Vaneé
It's a great idea to have Vader come to Naboo shortly after the Empire rises, essentially unleashing his grief on the planet and the people.
"A Spirit of Death came here. It did everything it could to destroy all memory of the beautiful Queen. It wrecked this place. It brought the waters in, flooded the whole building. But it didn't stop there. For a time, the spirit haunted Naboo, and it became clear that to speak of the Queen, to acknowledge that she ever lived at all...would mean death. Ever since then, good people avoid this spot, for fear they might bring back the demon." The story of the "Spirit of Death"
Kylo Ren's comment as he's absolutely destroying Storg Veruna and his guards really showcases how he got both his grandfather's and father's snark.
"Well, look at that. This place is cursed. But not for me." Kylo Ren
The return of the Verunas is a great touch. It signals how those citizens who collaborated with the Empire continued their corrupt ways through protection rackets and bought everything in the world. Naboo's obsession with lineage parallels Kylo Ren's obsession with Vader, and I definitely think it's not lost on him.
It's fascinating how Kylo Ren's opinion about killing the past is validated in his mind. As he sees Naboo, they're so obsessed with lineages and nobility, including events that took place decades ago, and as a result, they're unable to move on. He's definitely projecting his insecurities about his lineage onto them.
"You're wrong about Vader and Padmé, Vaneé. The story those insects just told us made it clear. Darth Vader realized that his past was not a strength...it was a weakness. Unworthy of the legacy he was trying to build. So he returned here and destroyed any memory of it. He understood what the people of this world do not. These fools are obsessed with their past. Maintaining it. Letting it control them. 'Lineage matters...' Pathetic. But I can help them." Kylo Ren.
I have a strong feeling Kylo Ren will destroy the throne Hux built just to troll him. I like the idea that the act would push Hux to be a spy.
Overall, this issue does a great job of exploring Vader's past with Padmé, and Kylo Ren took away that if anything, Naboo's current state validates his beliefs. Both Vaneé and Kylo Ren have a point regarding how Vader got his power. Vader's obsession and attachment to his wife made him do anything to protect her, and yet at the same time, he wanted to erase any trace of her from the people other than him. Except for himself, Vader wants to erase the past with Padmé from the galaxy. It represents how his obsession and attachment remain, especially as we see Vader's attempts to revive his wife. I cannot wait for what Issue 5 of Kylo Ren's journey holds and if he'll learn more during his assault on Naboo.
"People of Naboo. This is the Supreme Leader of the First Order. I have commandeered your communications network. I am unimpressed with you. Your focus on events that happened decades ago, your obsession with lineage and superstition…have caused your society to fester. Because you cannot let go…you hold yourself back. Now that will change. All that was will be swept away. Naboo will embrace the future. You have been ruled by Queens. You have been ruled by an Emperor. Now…I am your King." Kylo Ren

The Final Battle
When the Emperor, accompanied by Caecaltus Dusk, Garviel Loken, and Leetu finally reached Lupercal's Court and found Sanguinius' mauled strung up corpse, the Master of Mankind showed no visible emotion. He simply ordered Sanguinius' corpse be taken down then ignored Lupercal's taunts and proclamations of supremacy, instead addressing the Gods of Chaos observing the battle directly and ordering they stand down. The Emperor stated that the Gods had killed his son, which Horus soon came to understand was a reference to himself as well and not just Sanguinius. Frustrated at being ignored, Horus shot a blast of lightning from his talon and the great duel to decide the fate of humanity finally began.
