Diuturnic / Chronic Illness flags
Diuturnic is a suffix for chronic illness and long lasting conditions.
The flags above are as follows
Diuturnic -> coming from the latin words Durus (meaning harsh, severe etc) and Diuturna or Diuturnum (meaning long lasting), this term is not meant to be a replacement use for chronic but to encompass all chronic conditions.
DolorDiuturnic / DoloTurnic -> the orange flag, representing chronic pain, dolor is Latin for pain. This includes all forms of chronic pain.
LangourDiuturnic / LangoTurnic -> the blue flag, coming from the Latin word Langour (meaning faintness, weakness, infirmity, feebleness, exhaustion), this term is meant to encompass all forms of chronic fatigue.
It is not required to use the created names to use the flags, you can simply call them alternative flags for chronic illness, pain and fatigue.
Our previous chronic illness flags:
Pain - fatigue
We are accepting requests for sub terms/flags under Diuturnic !

Proposing a Cyborg pride flag
Looking for feedback from fellow Cyborgs about this flag concept! Cyborg is a political disability label used by physically disabled people with some sort of machine doing a bodily function for them (prosthetic limbs, pacemakers, insulin pumps, and hearing aids all count as making someone a cyborg, and I'm sure there's more I don't know about!). Cyborg is just as much a political label as it is a disability one, not everyone who uses an aid such as those listed will identify as a Cyborg.
This flag is being created to have a symbol of pride for cyborgs, and as a way to show support for the cyborg rights movement.
Color meanings so far:
Black- Mourning cyborgs who have died due to medical discrimination and abuse. Also represents and the struggles that come with being a cyborg
Gold- Resistance and perseverance
Red- Physical disability (one of the common reasons someone may be a cyborg)
Green- Sensory disability (another common reason someone may be a cyborg)
White- Hope for the future
Blue- Community support and the cyborg rights movement
Any feedback is good feedback! Prioritizing feedback from fellow cyborgs, but anyone is free to give opinions in general, just don't be a dick if you aren't a cyborg

CMT AWARENESS / PRIDE FLAG ! 🦈[REUPLOAD]
[ pt: cmt awareness / pride flag! ]

this is an awareness / pride flag for CMTD! [ charcot-marie tooth disorder ] since i have cmt myself!
read more about the disorder here!
[ pt: read more about the disorder here! ]
stripe meanings under the cut!
black - is the same black from the disability pride flag. represents the ablism and hardships fought being disabled. could also represent the loss of touch, mobility, motary and other senses from nerve damage and such that comes with the disorder.
different shades of blue - represents how cmt can take different forms and such as long with the different types! , also represents mild to severe symptoms, or low support to high support it could be for different people!
shark - people in the cmt community often joke about how the first part of the name sounds like "Shark". this has made the shark some kind of mascot or association for the disorder. could also represent chronic pain that comes with the disorder. or like i and others say, "the shark bites!, refering to chronic pain.

{cpunk}lens
[PT: {cpunk}lens. End PT.]
A term for people who need to see their internal experiences through a cpunk lens to understand, process and/or stabilize them. Most likely linked to the user’s neurodivergence, but not exclusive to neurodiverse people. Exclusive to physically disabled people, however.
Please note that while I am probably somewhat physically disabled (no diagnosis, self-given or formal, but constant manageable pain in most of my joints), I don’t feel like I can reclaim the c-slur or be part of the c-punk community, so if someone in that community would like to make their own {cpunk}lens flag, I’d happily put their version instead of mine in the masterpost [link].
Colors and wheel symbol taken from this cpunk flag [link] by @wateryourgender.

do you think people with “less severe” physical disabilities should clarify that on their cpunk blogs/not call themselvescpunk ? i say this because i am “less severe” than most ppl i see here, i use mobility aides but i am primarily ambulatory and most doctors look at me and say its not that bad bcz my conditions are all supposedly easily treatable despite none of the treatments working. im scared if i start a cpunk blog people are going to say im not disabled enough or im imposing myself into a space i dont belong in. i know the original coining says people of all physical disabilities can be cpunk, but i just dont know if the actual culture really believes that.
if this is way too much to ask of one person, really sorry! youre under no obligation to answer, i just dont really know how else to ask this question since im scared of creating a blog in the first place and ur a cpunk blogger that seems like you probably wouldn’t yell at me for asking :,)
It doesn’t really matter what other people behave like or say to you. Cpunk was always supposed to include people who are “less severely” or less “visibly” disabled. The only requirement there has ever been is that you consider yourself physically disabled.
Tai, the creator of cpunk, had fibromyalgia themselves and made many posts about it and about how it impacted their life. I think they would be displeased if they saw people going around saying “actually, you’re not bad enough off, you can’t talk about being physically disabled!” Because they themselves might have fallen into that category in the distant past.
I’m not the arbiter of who can talk in/use the Cripplepunk tag. I only go off what the person who created it said about it on their blog.
Unfortunately, we can’t ask them anymore since they are no longer with us, but I’m almost certain they would want you to blog about your experiences even if they don’t seem “that bad”, because a lot of people (even me sometimes) feel like they can never have it “bad enough” to feel valid.
this kind of concern is actually super common with people who are gaslit about their conditions

Let's review the manifesto for Cripple Punk again! [Addressing the discourse]
With all of the discourse I see about who is/can identify with Cripple Punk or Cpunk I think it's time to take some time to reaffirm the basics and take some time to shine a spotlight on the Madpunk movement.
You can find the original manifesto here but I copied it down below
principles of cripple punk: -cripple punk is exclusively by the physically disabled for the physically disabled -cripple punk is about solidarity & is open to all physically disabled people -cripple punk rejects pity, inspiration porn, & all other forms of ableism
-cripple punk rejects the “good cripple” mythos. cripple punk is here for the bitter cripple, the uninspirational cripple, the smoking cripple, the drinking cripple, the addict cripple, the cripple who hasn’t “tried everything”
-cripple punk fights internalized ableism & fully supports those struggling with it
-cripple punk respects intersections of race, culture, gender, sexual/romantic orientation, size, intersex status, mental illness/neuroatypical status, survivor status, etc.
-cripple punk recognizes that there is no one universal disabled experience
-cripple punk does not pander to the able bodied
———————— other rules:
-cripple punk is not conditional on things like mobility aids & “functioning levels”
-always listen to those w/ different physical disabilities & different intersections than yourself. do not speak over them
-disabled people do not need to personally identify w/ the words “cripple” or “punk” individually to be a part of cripple punk
-able bodied people wishing to spread the message may only ever amplify the voices of the disabled
-able bodied people may never use uncensored slurs themselves but never censor our language
-able bodied people must always tag things like reblogs with “i’m able bodied”
-physically disabled people wanting to be a part of the movement who are uncomfortable using the slur may refer to it as “cpunk”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is that there *is* an intersection between mental disabilities and physical disabilities but they are very different in my personal experience. That doesn't mean that one is worse than the other; just that their experiences are very different.
As someone who struggled as an adolescent with Ulcerative Colitis then spent my teenage years struggling with Treatment Resistant Depression, General Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and Bipolar Type 2, followed by my twenties being taken over from having to deal with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and GI issues again I have experience with both sides of the coin.
As a teenager my mental disabilities ruined my life. I struggled with motivation, suicidal ideation, hygiene, classwork and more. I found it hard to get out of bed most days. I struggled with insomnia. I failed half my classes freshman year due to undiagnosed depression. I cannot go to some places due to the loud noises, bright lights, and more that cause sensory issues.
What I have found to be useful for my mental disabilities is Madpunk. It actually talks about ways to cope with my mental issues and solutions. It talks about the negative and positive impacts of psychiatry.
However dealing with my physical disabilities is a completely different game. I have to think about whether public events will be accessible to me if I am using my rollator or a wheelchair. I get harassed by strangers for having a disability placard. I have to gauge my stamina and weigh the cost/benefits of going shopping. I am constantly using the bathroom - missing class time. Some days I cannot physically move out of my bed due to the amount of pain I am in. It can take me days to recover if I push myself past my limits. Sometimes my knees give out on me and I collapse.
Both my mental illness and physical illness have left me bed bound before - but the experiences are completely different. The treatment for mental and physical disabilities are different. The overlap of having a physical disability and then getting a mental disability is very common.
The cripple punk movement accepts the intersection between physical disability and mental disabilities. The definition of able-bodied is not having a physical disability. But if you only have mental disabilities and are able bodied there is space for you in the Madpunk movement. Mental Disabilities can be just as debilitating as Physical Disabilities - that is not in question. Just please don't be trying to take up space in a movement where we want to focus on our physical disabilities.
The Madpunk movement is under recognized and more people should help join in and further their cause. There is so much good discussion happening there - please go check it out! Talk about your personal experiences and help develop more theory.
The end message is that all disabled people are harmed by our current system. There should be more accommodations for mental disabilities. We need to focus on uplifting all of us rather than fighting each other and missing the real enemy.

Do I want to asinine jackass who coined the tern "MERD" today and is clogging up the cripplepunk tag by calling us evil exclusionists with it to see my own posts in the cpunk tag explaining what an asinine jackass they are being? Ideally, yes.
Is it better for my own insanity problems to just block the asinine jackass and forget they ever existed? Yeah.
#cripplepunk#cpunk#ableism#gonna flex my duoling skills and say i may be a merd but you are merde#that's a lie i didn't learn that from duo i learned that from star trek the next generation ep 1 encounter at farpoint

And she is the one who keeps claiming that the able bodied can be cripplepunk by virttud of their ND, and that epilepsy and neurological damage and mental illnesses are the exact same as autism and ADHD. If you have epilepsy go ahead yeah you can be cpunk if you want. But it’s either physical or neurodivergent you have to choose. Whether you agree with the other persons views on gender issues or not, she is the one who actually coined the term ND not this entitled person.
"...and that epilepsy and neurological damage and mental illnesses are the exact same as autism and ADHD." No, she doesn't.
Sorry. But you're just not telling the truth here.

We're The Oxygenated Bots! Welcome to our blog! Our name is a play on the quote "you must put your mask on before helping on the plane of there is an emergency", and we use it in relation to our metal health, and how we must help ourselves before helping others.
We have many names, but you may call us The Demons or The Bots or Oxygenated/Oxygen (or even just Bitch lol) here. It/gore/it&/any pronouns except for they/them. Full set of neos are gore/gore/gores/gores/goreself, and it&/it&/its&/its&/it&self.
We don't tag reclaimed slurs so block us if that makes you uncomfortable.
We don't have a proper DNI, infact we're probably that "freak" in YOUR DNI as we keep a lot of labels on the down low to avoid harassment lol. We'll just block you if we're uncomfortable and we have motivation to check your blog.
We don't check others DNIs unless we're following you. Don't like it? Then just block us.

In regards to people asking if this can be applied to non-physically disabled people:

[Image ID: The original poster, identitty-dickruption, replying to mephorash with "the term was coined by crip theorists, who generally see disability as a much broader category than the general public and even cpunks here on tumblr. like. it's an academic term. that being said, "mad labour" also applies for those in the Mad community" /end ID]
hey, disabled person! do you feel tired all the time? do you feel like you’re working twice as hard as abled people for half the outcome? do you take longer to do every single little thing than an abled person would see as reasonable? well. I would like to introduce you to the concept of crip labour (I first came across this in Smilges, 2023 but I cannot verify whether they came up with the term)
crip labour is a term to describe all the extra work disabled people do on a day-to-day basis. it’s also a form of labour that is invisible to abled people, because they just don’t have to think about most of it. it includes:
the extra labour required to get ready to leave the house in the morning (e.g. the extra steps involved in getting dressed or having a shower)
the social labour required in order to communicate your needs to abled people
the labour involved in having to plan ahead (e.g. knowing where accessible toilets are, knowing where ramp access is, knowing which venues are safe for you to be in)
the administrative labour involved in gaining access to particular institutions (e.g. applying for disability welfare, applying for education access plans, etc)
having a term to describe all the labour involved in keeping yourself alive and happy helps to make that labour more visible. it gives us a way to point out that we are doing more and with less capacity, and it helps to explain why so many of us are so exhausted all the goddamn time
so I hope this is a helpful term for people to bring into their lives!

oh apparently people have been getting INTO it lately on tumblr about whether or not you have to be physically disabled to claim cpunk. missed a lot of this but now stuff is getting on my dash. tyler (@/crpl-punk) who started cpunk 7 years ago was incredibly clear about the princples of cpunk. it’s for physically disabled people only. and like. idk. if you’re going to be participating in cpunk like yeah, this is something we get to make our own interpretation of as physically disabled people by the way we participate in it, but i also think we gotta know about who started it and what principles were important to them. i think it’s incredibly important to honor their memory and the movement that they started.
also, i think it is absolutely ridiculous that people are acting like there’s no difference between mental illness and physical disability. yeah, mental illness takes place in the body, but we all fucking know what we’re talking about here when we are saying physical disability. and mental illness by itself is not physical disability in the way we are talking about physical disability here. like. as mentally ill people we have mad pride, we have things that are in a very similiar spirit to cpunk that are about mental illness specifically that are about us. very weird the amount of mentally ill, able bodied people i see who really want to find an excuse to say cr*pple.
#personal#ill reblog the list of cpunk principles in a sec#i know a lot of people like. dont know who coined it and stuff#but i think. important to remember the spirit in which cpunk was created#also. i am physically disabled and mentally ill#i am both btw#i don't say cr*pple because that's not somethign i think i can reclaim#but i do identify a lot with cpunk
