El Déu de tota religió//The God of all religion//El Dios de toda religión

I absolutely love Miya Cech, I follow her on insta and she seems adorable. But I doubt this is the right track to follow for a character like Toph. (I'm also certain this wasn't Miya's decision but rather the writers, but they are once again letting the young actors take the fall for them just like they did with the changes in Sokka's character, I'm noticing a bad pattern here.)
The whole point of Toph is that she was raised with femininity and grace forced upon her, manners and etiquette being an important part of high society. Being feminine for her also meant not being able to fully embrace her element, seeing as earth is often associated with brute force and strength.
Being feminine just wasn't her, and in running away and embracing who she really is she rejected it completely, learning to love herself in her own way. Toph being Toph drove forward the story! And yes, this came with a bunch of flaws. Toph had a big mouth, was aggressive, rude (which she chose to be), not hygienic, and chose to exhibit bad manners.
I once again notice this pattern of the Netflix writers taking any flaws a character might have and trying their damnest to erase them. Katara wasn't allowed to be a thief, or decisive, or angry. Sokka wasn't allowed his sexist -> feminist arc. Aang wasn't allowed to actually run away from responsibilities. And now Toph isn't allowed to be the brutish girl she is.

Week 7 of My 12-Week Year
This week I managed to keep up my normal routine, but I also found ways to move beyond my routine. On Sunday, I had a great conversation with my daughter about her writing. She’s started writing a murder mystery who-done-it role-playing game where they try to figure out who-done-it and any of them could be the murderer. She’s enjoyed developing the characters.  I suggested that she create this…

i cannot imagine how deeply stressful and miserable one must be to truly believe their loving God will punish them for all eternity-- longer than a human mind could even begin to grasp!-- because they didn't live their 73.5 years alive meeting each of His expectations and repenting perfectly when they fell short. Words cannot define or describe how small a human life is compared to eternity. you really, truly think God will decide your eternal fate on that miniscule number of years, and nothing else? That you die and immediately *poof* God has made His decision? Do you realize cruel, how unjust, how petty you make God sound? that isn't mercy, or love, and frankly it's a cosmic joke to call it either of those.

Workplace Covering
Hmmm we should play around with the idea of Tim going undercover more. Especially when he goes out as Caroline Hill btw.
Dead Tired prompt once again.
Danny knows the people he's working for are... shady at best but he needed this job, ever since he left Amity Park after getting into a bad fight with his parents, they wanted him to become a Ghost Hunter (funny how they never really pressured Jazz into it.), he made sure to shut down the portal now since he learned to make portals (and made sure to delete and burn his parents blueprints for it), renounced himself as Ghost King (he really didn't want the responsibility and helped set up a kinda self governing and kinda 'I will come back to help the Realms keep stable but I am NOT ruling' thing)
[Basically Danny is still technically the King, the Realms need him to keep stable (personal head canon the Realms reflect its Ruler, Danny is much more stable than Pariah Dark and thus the Realms are healing and slowly returning to its natural state), but Danny set up a somewhat self governing thing where he can leave but returns very so often to keep the Realms stable and healing. Its complicated but it works.]
AND because his grades tanked hard due to the accident and being a young ghost hero in high school, Danny didn't have a lot of choices for work or even school (he is in college, none of his dream ones though, and is juggling between it and odd jobs here and there)
Anyways so yeah, Danny knows the people he's working for aren't... great. He knows they're shady AF and knows he could maybe find out what if he used his ghost powers but he does need this job for just a bit longer, until his next paycheck that's all.
He also know his new co-worker might be an undercover cop and is investigating them.
Caroline Hill is a nice lady though, even if it was an act to get closer, polite, works hard when paired with him, and very pretty.
So Danny decides to help cover up tiny mistakes or distract their other co-workers/employers when she's snooping around their work areas/offices.
#danny phantom#dp x dc#blue rambles#danny fenton#crossover#danny phantom dc#writing ideas#random idea#dpxdc#dead tired#future dead tired#Tim is undercover as Caroline in a shady workplace#Danny is there working cause he needs the cash and is doing his best NOT to be pulled in deeper#he just need the cash until next paycheck#Danny covers for Tim 'Caroline' when he can#He kept one of their 'bosses' out of the office room when Tim was in there looking at files#and makes LOUD noises and distractions to give Tim time to leave/hide#Danny explains his mistakes away by saying he's suffering from being shocked to near death as a teen and his body still has trauma#Tim starts liking Danny more. He already liked Danny cause hes smart and is actually respectful towards him as Caroline.#When Danny stops a coworker from harassing 'Caroline' for drinks#He digs into Danny's life to make sure he's clean despite working for some bad people#He's happy when finds next to nothing in the shady business and see's/hears Danny is doing this just for the next paycheck#I like to think after Tim takes the business down he sends out a job offer for Danny#No its not because he's crushing on the guy! He's smart and already in college for engineering! He's perfect for WE future!#And Tim Drake-Wayne is merely offering jobs to clean people in that business thats all...Hehe oh look he randomly ran into Danny!#Danny is shocked when he's offered a job at WE. Then he meets Tim and can SENSE thats he was Caroline! Same soul. Still pretty.

CLERICAL CLOTHES - A GUIDE
(I took one for the team)
This is a visual guide to clerical clothes, which has been created for 'Conclave' fanfic readers and writers (but it can be used for any work involving Catholic clergymen).
I'm going to use images from the movie (+ some images from visual novel 'Delectatio Morosa') and real life examples.
Spoilers, of course.
The Cassock
Tumblr media
The cassock is a tunic, identical for everyone, except for the colour. Choir cassock is red for Cardinals and amaranth red for bishops.
The plain cassock is black, with hems and buttons of different colour for each hierarchical position. In warmer regions of the world, one can wear a white cassock, with a fascia of the colour of the position.
Members of an order may wear a religious habit instead of a cassock. And a cincture (a rope-like belt) instead of a fascia (large fringed sash worn with the cassock).
The Choir Dress
Tumblr media
The choir dress is used for public prayer (like attending Mass), but not for the celebration of the Eucharist.
Rochet (/ˈrɒtʃət/): white laced vestment worn over the cassock. It arrives below the knee (Benítez's is longer than the cassock, covering it, because he wears borrowed clothes).
Mozzetta [motˈtsetta]: elbow-lenght cape closed with buttons, worn over the rochet. Its colour is the same as the choir cassock.
Biretta: a square cap with three/four peaks. Same colour as the mozzetta.
Zucchetto [dzukˈketto]: It's a hemisphere that sits on the head, usually made of silk. The central tip is called the stirpis.
Liturgical Vestment
Tumblr media
Chasuble (/ˈtʃæzjʊbəl/): outer liturgical vestment, which goes over the knees and the wrists. It's more used now than the planet (the rigid one without sleeves). It is worn over the alb and stole. The colour depends on the Mass celebrated.
Alb (from Latin albus, ‘white’): it is an ankle-long white garment usually worn with a cincture.
Stole: long narrow strip of cloth worn over the alb, around the neck and over the shoulders. The colour varies depending on the celebration.
Mitre: headpiece that is tall and pointed at the tip. Used by bishops, archbishops and now the Pope as well (instead of the tiara).
Pastoral: staff used by bishops and archbishops, which has a curled tip. The Pope uses a type of staff with a cross known as ferula, although rarely.
Casual Attire
Tumblr media
The clergyman is the modern priest attire. It consists of trousers, jacket and shirt with the clerical collar (a rigid white collar, the symbol of a priest).
Some priests completely discard the collar in favour of just wearing a cross or dressing no different than a "secular".
In particular cases, wearing a casual attire is more of a need than a choice: this is the case of Benítez, cardinal 'in pectore', who in the movie arrives in Rome with no clerical vestments.
Papal Attire
Tumblr media
The white papal cassock look consists of:
Fascia: sometimes with his coat of arms on it.
Pellegrina: elbow-lenght open mantle, similar to a mozzetta.
Pectoral cross: silver or golden, given to the Pope or already in his possession.
Zucchetto
Fisherman's ring: on his right ring finger, the seal on the ring is broken when the Pope dies.
Tumblr media
During official events, such as receiving guests:
Mozzetta: the Pope's is red and made of satin or velvet.
Pontifical stole: The Pope's stole is bigger, knee-lenght and usually red and gold.
Rochet: under the mozzetta and over the cassock.
Elements of his liturgical attire:
Ferula: instead of the bishop's pastoral, the Pope uses a long, silver or golden staff with Jesus on the cross.
Mitre: now used by the Pope as well, instead of the Papal tiara, after Paul VI deemed it as too luxurious and grand.
Tumblr media
Throughout the centuries, the Pope's wardrobe has evolved, with the inclusion of new pieces and the removal of others. Changes are still made in the XXI Century, with each Pope having different opinions on what to wear: just look at the big contrast between Benedict's conservative style and Francis' refusal to wear unnecessary ornaments, a couple of which have already been reinstated by Leo.
Saturno: a wide red hat made of felt or straw, which hasn't been used in over a decade. Its sides can be lifted up by strings.
Camauro: red winter bonnet made with velvet and ermine. Not used today, probably for ethical reasons.
Pallium: made with the wool of blessed lambs, it has existed since the first centuries of Christian rule, now only used by the Pope and metropolitan archbishops.
Fanone: a silk white mozzetta-like piece, with red and gold stripes and a big cross on the front. After the Second Vatican Council, its use has been reduced.
Tabarro: red long cloak the Pope wears during cold weather, again never used in the last 10+ years.
Piviale: white and gold mantle used in some occasions, like when participating at a Mass but not as the one celebrating it.
Red shoes: probably the symbol of Francis' revolutionary take on papal clothes, since in the Room of Tears he decided to ditch the loafers for his own personal shoes, the same ones he was later buried with. Leo also wears his own pair of black shoes.
Thank you for reading until the end!

Hey, let's talk about that champagne for one whole second.
And how Tommy 100% did not have a shift later.
Because if Tommy really had a shift later, I don't think he would drink.
This man denied the beer in Buck's loft, because he had a shift.
This man drank orange juice at a bachelor party, because he was on standby.
And sure, it probably would've worn off if he had a later shift...
But I fully believe he didn't, and that's just been the go-to excuse that he uses whenever he needs to get out. Maybe it has been for years.
There's no specifics, no 'crosstown traffic,' nothing. Just him quickly dropping the proverbial smoke pellet and disappearing once again.
So, yeah I fully think Tommy would've stayed, that he had plans to stay, didn't have a shift and would've made some mean mimosas with that champagne.
He just cannot handle confrontation.

truly one of the biggest letdowns in piper's writing in hoo specifically is how it doesn't dig deeper into charmspeak and what a disturbing thing it is to have the power to control someone's mind. like I swear this is interesting stuff and more people would get into piper as a character if this were explored a bit more in the text. you definitely see piper disturbed by her own power and hesitant to use it (and note that like many other characters, i.e. leo and hazel, her powers have always been a source of trouble in her life - like how she got in trouble for stealing a car even though all she did was ask for it), but in my opinion the books spend way too much time in piper's perspectives on other stuff when charmspeak is such an unusual and fascinating and terrifying power that offers so many interesting avenues of character exploration
and I really wish the books would have talked more about the canonical fact that charmspeak is more effective against people who are (or could be) physically/sexually attracted to the user. this is a power that children of aphrodite have - a power that is implicitly tied to sexuality as a defense or offense. like this inherently necessitates that piper weaponizes her sexuality against monsters and deities and giants and any other antagonist that want to harm her. which is crazy. especially because she's a teenager and especially because piper is initially characterized as an underconfident girl who goes out of her way to downplay her appearance (do you guys remember how much harassment piper goes through in the books and what little gravity is afforded to those moments... like she has dangerous characters aggressively flirting with or expressing attraction to her A Lot, and she has to play into that attraction to save herself or her friends no matter how uncomfortable it makes her)
I think there's such a dark undertone to all of this that's worth investigating. we know that piper doesn't like herself, doesn't like her powers, and doesn't like demigod life. hoo has her on a journey to become more confident in herself as a person and as a daughter of aphrodite but it's always going to be fucked up that part of her role in the prophecy seven is becoming confident enough in herself that she gets better at weaponizing her ability to violate the free will of others - and her ability to use her sexuality as an armament of war
