Maybe a hot take, maybe a cold one, maybe an incorrect one because the only comic I've read is Batman Wayne Family Adventures (yell at me all you want) but anyway-

Jason Todd is Bruce's first child.

Yeah yeah yeah, "but what about the Dick Grayson of it all"? Dick was not Bruce's child. He's a Grayson, he had parents, he didn't want another one. Dick wasn't Bruce's kid until after Jason. He was Bruce's ward, his chum, his little buddy partner in crime.

Dick was like a little brother or a nephew you take in when you have to. Because of the feeling of obligation. Bruce was there when his parents died, he (B) was also pretty young.

And that's not to invalidate young parents or even to invalidate Dick and Bruce's relationship. But Bruce took in Dick to save him (D) from becoming Batman.

Bruce took in Jason, because he saw a little boy jacking his tires so he could afford food and wanted to help him. And by god did Jason look like him (or Thomas!). Bruce and Jason were father and son from the start, and it was a relationship they built together. There was no need to quell the angry spirit of vengeance, or try to convince him to wear pants, or whatever.

It gets mentioned alot, but without Bruce Jason wouldn't have become a vigilante, and Jason never (to my knowledge) went off to be anything other than Batman's Robin. Dick was Robin, yes, but he wasn't Batman's, he was just Robin. He had Teen Titans. Jason didn't have that (to my knowledge), Jason had Bruce and Alfred.

When Jason died Bruce lost his shit, because he lost his baby, sure Dick was more of his kid at this point, but Jason was his *child*. He didn't replace Jason by choice, Tim forced that. He did replace Dick. Because Robin wasn't his son at the time he picked up Jason. Before Jason, Robin (to Bruce) was just a position. An alias. Then it was so much more.

If Jason hadn't died, maybe he'd have added Wayne onto his name. But Dick Grayson would never and will never even consider that. Dick needed Bruce, needed Batman, to stop him from becoming a vengeful person full of despair and hatred (cough Batman cough). Jason just needed Bruce. Batman, being able to help his city, that was just a bonus.

So yes. I think Jason Peter Todd was Batman's first child.

I miss when it was more taboo to like TMR/LV, so people were more concerned with finding other people who liked the character, and not having crazy ship wars over him and starting anon drama and insulting other people.

So I've woken up to tennisblr once again being justifiably angry about gifs and art and memes and text posts getting stolen but at the same time I have also seen a ton of very beautiful photos posted without photographer credit, often by the same people who keep saying how bad it is to steal gifs and how much effort is going into them. And I do know I'm guilty of the same hypocrisy... Especially when I add photos that I've saved ages ago to a post or find photos on another platform where they've been posted without credit and then end up putting them on my blog anyway. If a photo doesn't have a watermark (and I can absolutely understand people not wanting to put one on them) the credit will very often be lost at some point along the way. But at the very least if you're getting a photo form a place that credits the photographer, it would be great to add that credit on your post, too! Photography is an art as well and a lot of work goes into it.

Let me get on my soap box

I’m so tired of this narrative that people seem to have nowadays where it’s a problem if you love a flawed character. That’s what makes them interesting! And what person do you know that doesn’t have flaws!

Specifically tired of this anti Stolas discourse. Did he technically cheat on his wife? Sure. But being forced into a heterosexual marriage when he is clearly gay and being abused verbally and physically by his wife pushed him to his limit. Stolas went his entire life without someone to love romantically and all he had were his books. Books that were romantic and sultry and definitely influenced his reaction to seeing Blitzø again. Blitzø awoke a side to him that had been suppressed his entire life and perhaps he acted rashly but who wouldn’t after 35+ years?

I’ve also seen people say he’s not a good father. Literally where? Ask anyone who doesn’t have a good relationship with their dad, I would love to have the relationship that Stolas and Octavia have. He sheltered her from the abuse that Stella gave him. He was attentive and caring and loved her unconditionally. Just because he finally stood up for himself and decided to get divorced from his abuser doesn’t make him a bad father.

Then there’s the discourse about him having a deal with Blitzø every month. Could he have gone about this a better way? Sure. But think about what he’s been through! He doesn’t know how to be close to anyone romantically. His own parents didn’t teach him, no one was there to guide him. Also remember in the first episode how Stolas proposed the meet ups Blitzø replied with very little acknowledgement. He could have denied it and you can bet Stolas would have still let him use the Grimoire because he’s desperate for connection. Remember that Blitzø had been using it for some time before the proposition was even made. Stolas just didn’t know how to go about getting closer to Blitzø and that was the only way he thought he could make it happen. Yes, technically there is a power imbalance between them but it’s so clear that Stolas doesn’t see it that way. And obviously Blitzø has some feelings that there is that imbalance but that’s why they need to sit down and talk and realize they both feel the same way about one another.

It’s okay that characters are flawed and complicated. That’s what makes them interesting and relatable. Feeling like everyone should only like the “moral” and uncorrupted characters is outrageous and unrealistic and just plain boring.

I legit believe Alastor can't stop smiling!

Like, I loved his little smile speech in ep 7 and I think he stands by it but I feel like whoever he made a deal with forced that smile on him, to like mock him.

In like a " OH, you're always smiling? Well let's make it permanent then" sort of way, cause how do you explain this then?!?!

First of all! He is shocked and dumbfounded here! His guard is down, the mask is off and so is the voice, why isn't the face?!

Secondly, here! You're telling me he can take a blow like that and still keep up the smile? No way! This is a deadly hit!

And finally, this! His Shadow is not smiling and it was said that it's like an extension of him! It's showing his true feelings because HE physically Can't!

Like it could be just so he looks like a voodoo doll but why wouldn't they make it look like the smile is stitched On and not Shut ?

I have to admit...I didnt like the new song as much as everyone else did, the chorus is catchy, but the rest of the lyrics are kinda meh to me. HOWEVER, i just watched the performance they did last week on jimmy kimel and i kinda love it? all the little things, the drama thing logan does, the mic choreo, carlos little runs at the end, etc. I think it will become one of the songs I prefer live

The other day, I was doomscrolling on Reddit when I bumped into a post about CC and after reading and interacting in the comments I felt that people judge her too harshly and they don't really understand her character 😭

C'mon, guys, two wrongs don't make one right. No, CC didn't deserve to be bullied all the time. There were pranks that IRL would be interpreted as assault! Besides, she was often insulted just for being her. Yeah, she was the main antagonist and yeah, she had a rather unpleasant personality (especially in the first seasons). Like, it's a moot point to discuss that, but the "good people" also had their shortcomings lol Sometimes they also acted selfish or were kinda of aloof (quick examples here, Fran post-season 3 and her obsession with the "take it back"... and now I reference it, Max's emotional immaturity too. Fran sometimes wasn't a good "bestie" for Val...). Yet, their faults are overlooked while CC's ones are not.

She is what she is, but, to quote herself, "I'm not a well woman". Do you expect a person of her social class, who was basically raised by nannies (divorced and "busy" parents who compensated with throwing a lot of money, standoffish siblings), to become a nice woman and for that bullying is justified? CC's treatment by the audience is a little bit unfair, imo 🥺

Could you stop and think for once before doing something, especially when you already know that Day likes you romantically?! Day is not just dealing with his romantic feelings here and you cannot just assume that you can fill in a role temporarily just to give him good memories and feelings. NOBODY FEELS GOOD BEING LIED TO. Take your pity and stuff it up your ass. I cannot feel any sympathy for him. If you want to make Day feel good and happy be genuine about it. It's very simple.

If you already knew that you did not like him that way, then why did you initiate that kiss?

Did Day confess directly to you so you felt the need to take some action? NO.

Did Day tell you that he had a crush on someone and you were scared of losing him? NO.

Then why would you kiss him and then reject him when he kisses back? What tomfoolery is this? Are you living in your imagination and you think your actions have no consequences? Did you suddenly think that by kissing him things would naturally fall into place? NO AUGUST. THAT'S NOT HOW LOVE WORKS.
