My hottest Arcane take is that a lot of caitvi antis come across as complete wimps whose only exposure to lesbian couples are kids cartoons and vanilla yuri manga. Like I’m fairly certain half an episode of Killing Eve would instantly make these people pass out if caitvi of all ships is their limit for fucked up relationship dynamics. Okay I have some thoughts about the community’s reaction to the Secret of the Mimic trailer that I need to get out or else I’ll explode. Everybody is so upset for no good reason and it’s kind of exhausting that we can’t have a single FNaF release without people getting mad that it’s “not like the OG games”. Which is fair, but also, FNaF has undergone ten years of development, both technologically and financially and Scott now has ten years of retrospect with this series, and obviously everything is going to change. That’s not really what I wanted to talk about though SO I’m just going to ramble about a few things I’ve seen people say and spout some thoughts my friends and I have been having about it.

“Who even is the Mimic???” Okay. It’s completely fair to not know who the Mimic is (even though most people do at this point, as it’s not exactly information that’s hard to access), which is WHY this game is being made, and it’s why I’m so glad this game is being made. Important game lore being exclusively in the books is dumb, and I’m glad we’re finally getting the Mimic backstory in an actual game. This is a good thing!! They’re giving us information in the format they should’ve been giving it to us in all this time!! (Though, it being in the books first felt like a test run of these concepts they’re exploring in the games, as if they were trying to get us used to it? I guess it kind of worked? Still a weird move though.)

“It’s just Poppy Playtime /neg” Have we all forgotten that Poppy Playtime was made to feed off of the Security Breach hype? Have we forgotten that FNaF essentially created the mascot horror genre? SotM is the style it is because of SB, not because of the mascot horror games that copied the modern FNaF style. SotM would’ve existed in its current form with or without PPT, as PPT has nothing to do with the natural progression of FNaF games. PPT started with people calling it a FNaF ripoff and now I guess people are saying FNaF is a PPT ripoff?? Do you guys hear yourselves??

“Tales from the Pizzaplex isn’t canon because of [insert minor detail]” How on earth do you still think this even after the games have followed Tales’ Mimic lore time and time again?? Tales is how we know what we know about the Mimic, which lines up with what we have in the games. It’s all one story, just being told across different forms of media for some reason. And if SotM directly mentioning concepts from Tales isn’t enough, I do not know what you think they’re trying to do here. You guys are coping so hard. As for little details that are different: OBVIOUSLY the games are going to be different from the books, they’re entirely different medias with different requirements for storytelling and audience engagement.

TL;DR Your reasons to be mad about modern FNaF are stupid and don’t make sense. If you don’t like the way FNaF is going, simply do not follow it or interact. It’s that easy. Alternatively, accept you can’t do anything about it and just go along for the ride and at least try to enjoy yourself! Stop being angry about everything, it’s not helpful to you or anybody else.

I’m probably going to make a longer post about this addressing a specific situation on my side blog, but I am completely over people who engage with intense, dark, adult, and violent media because of canon queer characters or couples and then throw a tantrum when those queer characters don’t have plot armor or the story doesn’t consist solely of them living in a fluffy rom com where nothing bad happens.

1) People who have only read a couple of the things you’ve written, and therefore won’t notice your recurring motifs and words and phrases and gestures and etc

2) People who have read a whole lot of your things, which indicates they clearly like the motifs and language and etc that you use and want to see more of them

And for neither category do you need to worry about using your favorite tropes or descriptive phrases or whatever “too much”. The editor in your head is the only person who is both reading every single thing you write and being critical of every single thing you write

Why I think Eddie Diaz is autistic !

(As an autistic individual)

- Struggle with emotional expression:

He often struggles to express emotions, particularly in his relationship with women, (look at the way he acted with Sharon, Ana and Marisol, never communicating clearly, or doing it VERY straightforwardly (-> “you should go”)

He struggle with articulating his feelings, to name his emotions and process them (seemingly alexithymia) and he close off a lot, even with his therapist !

- Literal Thinking:

He tend to interpret language literally, (interactions with his colleagues and fast problem-solving, keeping a cool head under very stressful situations, the way he react to jokes, the way he doesn’t believe and ‘judge’ the way they fear superstitions, only believing what he can prove)

It seems to me like he experiences challenges with understanding figurative language or sarcasm and only believe what is proven, he’s very closed off about the idea of superstition which can be seen in some autistic people who struggle with theses concept

And he can be really straightforward (see the “you should go home Ana” or the “last time he wore that was at his mom’s funeral”) -> stating facts straightforwardly without processing it first and without realizing how stating it like that can be ‘awkward’ to others

- Meltdowns and Coping Mechanisms:

He experiences moments of intense frustration and resorts to unhealthy coping mechanisms (-> fights and destroying his room, hurting himself and other in the process (as in a lot of autistic meltdown and the way a lot of us turn to violent coping mechanisms to fight against sensory overload and the complexity of understanding our own emotions -> resorting to violence)

He parallels experiences of sensory overload and regulation, also his panic attacks and the way he avoid addressing his trauma and feelings by brushing it off and ignoring his own mental health, struggling to understand his own feelings about what he’s experiencing

- Difficulty with Trauma and Normalcy:

His reluctance to address trauma and persistent efforts to appear "normal."

It reflects challenges faced by autistic ppl in processing traumatic experiences and blending in with neurotypical society (force conformism and such)

There’s something about the way he and his father approach emotions, keeping it hidden and close off, that resonates a lot with my own experiences as someone autistic raised by someone who’s (probably) autistic too ‼️

+ the way he quickly connect with Buck exemplifies the ‘neurodivergent link’ : ADHD and autism solidarity is a reality ! Neurodivergent people tend to feel more secure, comfortable and friendly with other neurodivergent individuals!!

He basically just give such a autistic energy, like- I really connect with his struggle and the way he interact with the world around him, but please tell me what YOU think 🫶‼️

To have a better view of this part of him we would need more of his pov, sadly we rarely get it so I’m basing this of what I remember, what I personally see in him, what I connected with :’D

(Keep in mind that I probably projecting and it’s just an headcanon, not hate please <3 constructive criticism is welcome tho !!)
