sorry I haven't been posting much
I have been weirdly...overstimulated and over excited about a bunch of things, and it has brought my presence of mind to approximately 0.

here's a hot take for today
the narrative function of sex is the same as the narrative function of fight scenes is the same as the narrative function of songs in a musical
no i will not explain
#taz talks#writing#actually i WILL explain but i'll do it in the tags#these each serve the same function within their respective appropriate genres#each one is a kind of revelation#they heighten the connection between 2+ characters and highlight relationships and feelings and needs#they are out of place in genres where they do not belong and/or as curveballs when the narrative did not provoke them from the start#but they have the same sort of emotional/dramatic build-up#talk -> sing -> dance (talk -> yell -> stab) ((talk -> flirt -> You Know))#and they are all expressions of intense physicality and intimacy through physical gesture and interaction#they are fundamentally empty and boring if there is not a deeper purpose or drive behind them#although they can still occasionally be entertaining on their own if your audience is specifically seeking that experience out#people who do not like them will be very unhappy to encounter one where it isn't supposed to be#it is very easy to ruin the mood with poor word choice#many people have an inherent sense for terrible ones but it's often difficult or complicated to explain precisely why a bad one fails#when executed properly they are a very raw and intimate expression of a character's most fundamental needs and desires#the fluff is stripped away and there is nothing left but a series of needs. conflicting or cooperating.#and even when you're lying during one it's still a form of truth#none of these things are remotely necessary to tell a powerful or compelling story but if you're going to use them you need to do it right#also all 3 of these things are difficult if not impossible to write if you are not both interested in them and personally invested#this post brought to you by me trying to write smut about my dnd characters and failing because i generally hate /reading/ smut#so i have none of the vocabulary or instinct for it that i do for. say. graphic violence (or lyrical poetry)

The more you chase the muse, the faster she runs.
Believe me when I tell you that the muse is not the problem here. I have 6,000 ideas and I would LOVE to tell someone about them. Better yet, I'd love to actually finish and post some of them. The moment I sit down to write, it's easy. It is the sitting down to write that is the problem.

I think I finally figured out why I like him so much
#ADHD#Meme#Shitpost#Helix#SCII#Max Vyer#Dexter Favin#Me projecting all over Max: Man he's just like me fr#He feels so ADHD to me like hang on hear me out#He's extremely impulsive - absolutely dopamine-motivated - struggles paying attention to things he's not interested in -#But also gets fixated on things like his dream journaling and anything related to it - space/aliens/spaceships/etc.#It being like The Only Thing that he ''can focus on'' - as well as wanting to engage with it when he's stressed!#Has lots of half-abandoned hobbies and impulsively ''jokes'' about getting really invested in something and then losing interest#Like wanting a lot of animals - hehe - or what jobs he wants to do while committing to none of them#He also takes things really personally which like - RSD. Do I need to explain lol#Has difficulty making and keeping friends - is forgetful and ''forgetful'' hehe I'm quite familiar#I also kind of read him getting high or drunk regularly as like?? really maladaptive attempts at self-medicating??#Dopamine-deficient brains are way more likely to develop or lean on addictions to be at least Closer to level stimulation#He's constantly understimulated and all his caretakers see it as a moral failing when like! He's just expected to Get Guud lol#He needs accommodations! His brain is clawing at the walls trying to get his Executives to Function!#This man has undiagnosed ADHD please get him to a psychologist#Lbh tho his parents would be the type to say ''Don't use your diagnosis as an excuse'' as if he could just control it lol#Don't even get me started on when he and ZEX Freaky-Friday lol#Something something ZEX problematic queer something something Max problematic ADHD lol - look if it's Correct it's Correct!#Anyway this is just my reading and I'm Absolutely Definitely projecting to some degree - please read Helix and love Max of your own volition

Was a watching Georgia’s stories answering questions and there was one about lights on or off. I don’t really know what that means. Can anyone explain please?
Hi, Anon! So, for those who didn't see Georgia's Insta stories yesterday, here is a screenshot of the story in question:
Tumblr media
As to what this means, I can offer my interpretation, but with one caveat, which is that I'm not entirely sure how the question-asker meant it, or how Georgia interpreted it. But from my experience, "lights on or off?" typically refers to sexual preferences. (In other words, do you prefer to have sex with the lights on or the lights off.) One example that comes to mind is the character Faith in a season 3 episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
Tumblr media
From this context, we can see that the question is referring to something sexual (along with "kinks or vanilla?" which refers to whether one enjoys rougher/kinkier sex or more traditional "vanilla" sex).
Now, again...whether this was actually what Georgia meant, I mean...who knows. Could she have meant that she just likes to sit in a room with the lights off instead of on? Sure, why not. But going by the popular vernacular (and where my mind went), this would be what most people would think of when they see that phrase. So, the conclusion we could arrive at would be that Georgia prefers to have sex with David with the lights off. Interpret that however you will...
(Also, it bears mentioning that this doesn't say anything about whether David likes to have sex with the lights on or off, but that's a whole other discussion for another day...)
I hope this helps you out, Anon. Thanks for writing in! x

And now for something completely different.

This is the ADHD Teapot. I made it in a ceramics class a few years ago. I use it to explain executive dysfunction to people who haven’t come across the term before (and those who think of ADHD mostly as Hyperactive Eight Year Old Boy Syndrome).
So, most people’s brains are like a regular shaped teapot with a single spout. Let’s say that your time, energy, focus etc is the liquid you have in the teapot. Your executive function is the spout, that directs the tea into the specific cup you want to fill-aka the task that you’re meant to be doing. Spills happen occasionally, but generally most of the tea goes in the right cup.
If you have executive dysfunction, (a symptom of ADHD, trauma, autism, schizophrenia etc.) you have multiple spouts going in different directions. You can try pointing one of them at your chosen cup and you will probably get some liquid in there, perhaps you will even fill it right up (finish the task). But meanwhile, tea is also pouring out of several other places and not going where you want it. If you have another container nearby, perhaps some of it will end up in there. But quite a lot of it is going to end up on the floor and accomplish nothing.
And at the end of the day you’ll have filled one or two cups ( or sometimes not even one) compared to the five or six that somebody with the same sized teapot (but only one spout) has filled, and everyone wonders why you’re so bad at getting tea poured, and why you make such a mess in the process.
One day I’d like to spend more time learning pottery and create a really technically good fucked up little adhd teapot. But that’s a long way off since i currently live in the outback and the nearest pottery workshop is some 400km away. But I figure that for now, it might be a useful or interesting metaphor to somebody even in its rough draft form.
This post is the cup I filled instead of cleaning my house btw.
