i've just realised i probably KNOW now why i refused to touch this smokey back in the early/mid 1960s

HIS FUR IS A SENSORY NIGHTMARE!

MY smokey had short soft curly fur (much of which was rubbed away by 1963/64 ish). and gramma told me the new one was exactly the same. but nooooooo

i picked up younger smokey the other day to figure out how to draft a pattern, & the more i touched his fur, the worse it felt.😱☠️

i was shuddering away from the poor ol bear and it took me time to figure out why! the fur is slightly stiffer and coarser and straight. i mean, probably FINE for someone without beaucoup sensory issues + very fragile skin.

that person is not me.

SO, i think for aziraphale & crowley & logi bear & wade kitty, i'll use some undyed flannel i have & try to make the same shaped bear that way, but COMFY. the whole point is that they are meant to be comforting when i'm too weak &/or too sick to get up, hurting so much i can't get around &/or focus, too nauseous, etc.

can i manage 4 bears? probably not before the body gives up. but i can try. right? right???

anybody know if there's something you can put in a bear that you can record comfort stuff on and then press it? like wade saying "it's fine" or az saying "dream of whatever you like best" or etc???

Drift’s spectralist beliefs would be so fascinating to some humans. It’s me I’m some humans

Introducing Drift to humanity’s cultural expressions surrounding the meaning of colors, and exploring things like finger painting, the Hindu celebration of Holi, color runs, sidewalk chalk, dyeing your hair. Using that as a way to connect with him and his culture. Asking him to teach you to meditate and learning about auras because even if you don’t believe in his belief system, it’s a beautiful way of seeing the world, and you want to know more about it. About him. Because it matters to him. And he is THRILLED because the other mechs always shut him down when he tries to talk about it!

Eventually, you shyly asking Drift if he would let you put some temporary paint designs on him as a demonstration of how much you care for him and out of respect for the person you know he is trying to become. Maybe you aren’t some fantastic artist but it doesn’t matter, your efforts and closeness to him, tiny hands trailing soft brushes along his armor, the adorable way you focus on him, not even aware of how he’s studying you more than what you’re painting on him - that’s what makes this an experience he will always remember.

But THEN, Drift taking one look when you’re done, and being absolutely shocked because you really see him as something beautiful whereas he tends to see the terrible things he’s done. But you’ve painted him in your favorite colors and he can’t even speak for a minute. Even the imperfect smudges and drips of paint are special, because it came from your hands, your organic spark, imperfect but unique in its imperfections. You only meant it to be a kind gesture for him, but he wears your design for as long as he can, carrying with him a work of art that shows as much about the beauty within you as it does your thoughts of him. A declaration in color that he’s both humbled by, and takes hope in seeing every day.

…Then, you asking Drift if he would put some temporary paint designs on YOU to represent the colors he sees in your aura. And you getting overwhelmed in return because he takes such incredible care and puts so much thought into it all; planning it out in detail before bringing you to a quiet place lined with pillows and soft lighting to paint you. The designs representing your friendship that means so much to him, as he smiles softly and turns paints into an outward expression of how beautiful he sees you as being, how lucky he is to have met you. A little solar flare of light and life, burning bright and brief, warming him and the other old mechs who feel so tired sometimes, but never when you’re around.

You can’t help but shed a few tears when you see yourself, because even in the alien designs and meanings you don’t quite grasp, it’s written big and bold for all to see that you are loved.

Hey, I just remembered something about Octavinelle. They have these slimy substance on them. In Azul’s ceremonial robe vingtte he and the twins try to come up with something for Vil. Long story short they used Floyd’s slime to make something(I forgot what it was.) anyway for your Weirdcore AU maybe you could use the slime somehow in their design.

That's a good idea lol. Perhaps I can try to make a sorta shiny effect on their skin so that they look unnaturally shiny, if that makes sense? Plus some sorta gloopy slime-like texture may work!

I have eczema, and it's been quite bad lately... so I love to imagine Dottore just comforting you through it. ❤️ You're all too familiar with nothing working for you, so when you get too demotivated to take care of your skin he would sit you down and rub the ointment he made for you on your body himself. He wouldn't twist his face at the dried blood, new and old marks, dark spots, or cracked and dry skin on your body at all. Especially the rough patches of skin that you're embarrassed of, because you think you're not pretty since it's not smooth and soft like everyone else's, he would pay extra attention to. Despite your skin being far from perfect, he still finds you the most attractive person in all of Teyvat, and he and his segments make sure you know that, with physical means of course. They're not good with words. When you have an outfit you don't want to wear since you don't think you could pull it off with your cracking skin or body, he'll force you to try it on in front of him and keep his eyes on you silently the whole time despite the fact you're probably burning from embarrassment. And then he'll pick you up and place you on his lap for further careful examination, to show you how lovely he thinks you look. <3

Of course, he would kill anyone who dared to say anything negative or look at you in the wrong way. Dottore would physically restrain your hands and not let go of them the second he sees your hand reaching to itch that same spot again. The segments make sure your nails are trimmed and short too, and keep a watchful eye on you so you don't pick at your skin. They all still like to bite you, so you can focus on their little bite marks instead of your scars all the time. Obviously, he keeps a dedicated journal to track if anything triggers your eczema and skin in particular. And he would so help you shower and bathe too, especially when the water is hurting your skin too much <3 No, you can't take those hot long showers!

How do you decide which plushie to cuddle with everyday? I try to change it up so everyone gets cuddles but I worry that some don’t get enough even with me just carrying around the few that live on my bed because they help my anxiety best

Most of the plush that get cuddles are part of the Bed Squad. I cuddle them depending on my mood honestly. I look at em and I know it's their turn. They've also gotta be a good hugging size, around 8 inches or larger. So plush like Lil Guy, Lil Vee, Cosmo, Wanda, and Squish don't get picked (not that they aren't loved on in some form tho. I'll usually cup them in my hands and hold them to my cheek for nuzzles). There are a few plush that are cuddled more than others, though, but the others don't get jealous.

Some plushies have the designated job of being a Cuddle Plush! They're the ones that I'll hold when I sleep or when I'm not feeling well. Plushies like Wawa the frog, and Chubbychu the pikachu, Binky, and The Baby. Cuddle Plush is it's own job, because with it the plushies have to deal with things like: getting dirty quicker than their regular plushie counterparts, getting tears or drool on them, risking flattening, discoloration, seams getting torn, etc.

Not every stuffed animal is up for the task of enduring such things. So they get less cuddles, but that makes the ones they get more special!

It’s really unfortunate when you have a legit “skin itchy” condition and also dermatillomania/exchoration disorder. Yes I know scratching is bad. Yes the scratching make things worse. But also. My mind is only calm if picky picky. Hell.
