Hello Tumblr,

I wanted to to introduce myself and this blog. My name is Rayven and I am the Rainbow Veteran. I honestly haven't used Tumblr since my @genderfluidgreer days. Last year I started a TikTok and eventually a podcast talking about things the affect veterans and the LGBTQIA community as I am a Trans Veteran.

With the ban on TikTok around the corner I figured I'd add Tumblr to the other social media I use. I will slowly be adding my TikToks to the blog and spread information about my podcast.

I hope to have a lot of interactions with folks here and it is nice to be back on Tumblr.

I did have this on a side blog but I am slowly making a new primary blog for this account so sorry for the double posts.

After a few years of not working on Changeling on @genderfluidgreer I am back with a successor to my old webcomic.

A sort of revival of my old webcomic Changeling over at my old blog genderfluidgreer. I wanted to continue the comic for some time but felt since I no longer identify as genderfluid that I should restart the comic all together. So welcome to Rayven Reborn.

On the promise that I would post more original content

@genderfluidgreer ‘s Changling #29 comic is really important especially in the context of the whole debate about dysphoria. I tend to see people talk about ONLY physical dysphoria and how THAT is the dysphoria you must have. In my case I tend to have minimal physical dysphoria and a shit ton of social and mental dysphoria that’s likely aggravated by your classic mental illnesses depression and anxiety. But it always gets written off by people saying “you just care too much about what other people think” and stuff like that. I actually forgot that my social and mental dysphoria could even count as that because physical dysphoria is always talked about as the One True Dysphoria. This comic also does a good job of illustrating some forms of nonbinary dysphoria which is something that is TOTALLY unaccounted for in a lot of discussions that I’ve seen at least. I tend to forget that my dysphoria is nonbinary dysphoria and hence won’t be the same as a binary trans person’s dysphoria. It’s why I don’t see my experience in a lot of other people’s narratives or the typical trans narrative. I’m tired of always panicking and immediately starting to question myself whenever I see a discussion about dysphoria. I know you don’t need dysphoria to be trans and certainly not the physical only, binary form of it.

What is your actual apocalypse outfit? Sweatpants, tshirt, hoodie, slippers. All in mostly black.

What do you miss the most? Hanging out with my coworkers! And my dad!

What do you miss the least? Getting up early. Dealing with humans on the train.

What are you enjoying about it? I’m getting to talk to my girlfriend more. And I get to do a lot of art everyday!

This has been an issue a lot since I started to go to doctors while being on hrt. Anytime my mental health or emotional state is being an “issue” its the pills, not my ptsd, anxiety, or depression. I am so glad my primary doctor isn’t like this.  

Decided to try the old school manga artist way of inking, just black and white. I was rereading Naruto and thought I should try it out and honestly I like it a lot. I might do it this way with small coloring's of grey when it is necessary from now on and in my published works.

Comics in color

So with a new computer setup ready to go I am debating on doing my comic pitch to be in color or greyscale. So the next couple of comics will do that to be practice for me but to also get y'all involved. I will be making some comics with grey tones like manga and some in color. Then I'll put a poll on my twitter to see what you will think work better.

Troll Criticism?

So I recently found this forum where people talk about bad comics. Link here. But instead of actually giving possible feedback to help the creators grow it seems its a bunch trolls making fun of people. As such I have fallen to this such site. And I have admitted to my own short fallings such as spelling issues, bubble placement issues, even my own views have been changed when someone told me that I was slighty wrong with my understanding of something. Like I admit that sometimes I don't have the best formatting or best flow. Sometimes I make these comics in one step and don't always focus on the final product being super polished. But I'm always open to actual constructive criticism. But this is just people being trolls, cherry picking things out of order to fit their arguement, not even referring to the asks or annotations attached to the comments. What do you all think? Let me know in the comments. Does my comic suck or do I just need to tweak somethings?

Hey so this weeks been a lil crazy with work and getting ready for my drag show tomorrow. So here's a sneak peek at the next issue with the sketch for it.

So I am currently starting a kickstarter project to make physical copies of Changeling. This is mostly to a) put my foot in the door to be a full time graphic novelist and b) be able to spread not only my story but the narrative of being nonbinary/genderfluid. The book will have updated version of the artwork to match it with the current style along with comics only for the book. Each comic will have a little story or small noted around it to be used as a teaching tool tell the story further. I havent finished the kickstarter page yet, but I will soon and let ya'll know the link.
