i also have noticed time and time again that people who say "cis men" or "everyone except cis men" will happily adjust their definition of "cis men" to suit whatever they want in the moment.

like if you're transfem? that's all fine and dandy until you disagree with the person and then suddenly you're a "cis man" who is "faking" or a "gendertrender" or whatever, because of course no "real" transfem person would disagree with them.

if you're transmasc? same deal, fine until you disagree with the person and then you're "siding with the cis men" and "joining the oppressors".

i used to think, wow i wish i were a cis woman so then these people would listen to me, but then i realized, they don't even listen to cis women who disagree with them.

now i've learned that when i see people who categorically exclude or condemn a whole class of people, that's a red flag, and my cue to steer clear.

"all men are evil" is radfem/terf rhetoric, but clarifying "all cis men" because you want to signal that you're not transphobic doesn't work because it's still deeply rooted in radfem beliefs. It's saying you believe there's something inherently evil in being born/assigned "male", and you carry it over in how you treat ppl who transition in or out of that gender. "All cis men are evil", is gender essentialist and you can't get around that.
