⪼ 10.01 KINKTOBER DAY 1, MIGUEL O'HARA X FEM READER
power play, dumbification, unintentionally slutty reader, dubcon
click link for kinktober mlist c: not proofread!!!

miguel hated you for some reason unknown to anybody. every time you even walked pass him he would shoot you a glare.
maybe because he was against jessicas idea to bring you into hq and have you become part of the spider society.. or maybe it was because the first mission you had you fucked it up. hard.
nobody really knows. but it's probably because of the way you prance around in your skimpy spider suit, acting oblivious to the wide eyes and open jaws as you passed by the other spiders. probably because of the way you add a bit more sway to your hips as you walk past o'hara.
clearly you were teasing him on purpose. so you can't blame him when he gets fed up with your antics, blasting over the speakers that they needed to find you stat.
barely a minute later you were shoved into his office by another spider, a confused expression on your face as you stared up at him with those same doe eyes you always look at him with— those same doe eyes that make his dick throb.
"i know you're doing it on purpose." he says, eyes narrowed as he tapped his foot. he watched your face contort into an even more lost expression, your lashes fluttering each time you blinked.
"i don't know what you mean, boss." you said innocently. there you go again, putting up that same ol' innocent act. his eyebrows furrowed together, a scowl on his face.
"don't act oblivious, y/n," he spat, taking a step closer and closing the distance— now you had to crane your neck up to look at him. "walking around and swaying your hips like some.. some slut."
you were taken aback. how could miguel possibly think that about you? you've been on your best behavior, never referring to him as anything less than boss or sir. you were quick to bite back, scoffing and cursing him out.
you both bickered back and forth, an angry expression etched onto both of your faces. yet the way he glared down at you— calling you all of these degrading names somehow sparked an unfamiliar feeling in your core; hidden deep beneath the humiliation you felt.
halfway through scolding him for being a 'perverted asshole', you blinked and he had you wrenched over his shoulder, a look of confusion on your face and a look of pride on his.
"put me down, miguel!" you demanded like a child stubbornly pleading for candy; thrashing and scratching at his back until he placed you on his desk. pens and documents scattered and tipped off the table, cluttering on the floor as miguel glared down at you.
"alguien tiene que enseñarte una lección puta." he mumbled beneath his breath, shaking his head. his hand snaked up your thigh as he watched your expression contort from anger to arousal, blush creeping onto your face as he squeezed the fat of your thighs.
you muttered his name quietly. a triumphant smirk formed on miguel's face, his fangs poking out from his lips. he took your wrists between his large hand and pinned them above your head.
his freehand trailed down your body, exploring it and making sure every curve and contour was engraved into his brain. talons extending simply for the purpose to rip your spidersuit to shreds.
you complained and whined about how that was your only one. "this is what you wanted it, isn't it?" he shushed you with a claw up to your neck, eyeing you hungrily like a wolf and it's prey.
you yelped when he flipped you onto your stomach harshly, your lacy panties and the clasp of your bra on display for him. his hand ran up the curve of your back before getting rid of your bra, tossing it to the side.
he pressed his bulge against your clothed, sopping pussy, grinding slightly as he leaned down to leave kisses and bites on your neck.
you grinded your hips against his only to be stopped harshly by calloused hands. you turned around and began to complain until he shushed you. "beg, mi vida." he demanded, leaving no room for refusal.
"w- wha?.." you stuttered, cheeks lit up with humiliation and lust. you immediately shook your head, the thought sending shivers of embarassment down your spine.
he tch'd, before ripping off your panties in one swift motion. his nanotech suit slowly dissipated away; leaving him only in his boxers. and good lord, he was fucking fit, chiseled abs and veins running along his arms.
but the thing that really caught your eye was the tuft of brown hair peeking out of the waistband and the large bulge.
he made you turn your head around, not facing him. you felt a heavy weight on your cunt, his tip prodding at your entrance. there was no foreplay except for the fact that you were soaking wet, "w- wait. miguel—"
he was ramming into you before you could even finish your sentence, broken and choked out moans being punched out of you with each thrust.
you revelled in pleasure and a sting of pain as you adjusted to his size. "fu.. fuck! miguel, s- ah! slow down-" you managed to let out in between whimpers, eyes rolling back as the sound of his hips slapping against yours filled the room yet his pace didnt falter.
the way his balls slapped against your clit with each thrust was fucking divine, making you grip the edges of the table as he fucked you raw.
groans from him and moans from you echoed off the walls, the smell of sex filling your senses, "m- miguel.. s' too hard~.." you complained, biting your lip.
but the second his tip thrusted into that spot that made your mind go numb you forgot whatever you were begging for; all logical thoughts blocked out by pleasure as you gripped anything for purchase; trying to prevent the loud moan that eventually escaped and bounced off the walls, clenching around him tightly and making him groan.
"c- calláte.. making too much fucking noise." he grunted out, wrapping a hand around your throat as he continously thrusted up into your gspot, your eyes rolling back and tongue lolling out.
raspy whimpers and pleads for him to keep hitting that spot barely made it out with his large hand around your throat. black spots littered your vision as your breaths became shallow, yet he still continued to thrust.
you felt the knot in your stomach snap as you cried out in pleasure, squeezing around him as he let go of your neck; his thrusts becoming sloppy. your vision went blank, only miguel and the shape of his cock on your mind as your orgasm washed over you in waves.
your release left a ring of cream at the base of his cock. you could tell miguel was close too, his pace erratic before he burried himself deep inside of you, tip nestled comfortably in your cervix.
"c- cum in me please.." you begged pathetically, eyes rolling back in satisfaction as he emptied his load inside of you.
after what felt like hours with his dick balls deep in you, he pulled out, your clit twitching and your hole aching as some of his cum leaked out and onto his desk. you could hear him tut in disapproval.
"perra dejó un desastre en mi escritorio.." he scoffed before spitting on your pussy, admiring the mess he made of you before turning his suit back on.
"clean yourself and my desk up, ¿comprende?"

💖 PRE-NEW YEAR CLEARING OUT (4 WEEKS TILL 2025) [GLOW UP SERIES] 💖
If you’re serious about bringing in that radiant, expansive, abundant energy in 2025 then you need to get real serious about removing any old energy that doesn’t align with this.
Starting with your phone. Delete old chats in WhatsApp, delete telephone numbers, clear out your social media. Your phone needs to be a reflection of your energy. Old notes that are keeping you hostage to the past remove them. Go through your apps, remove anything that is taking up space, remember the more space you create by removing in all aspects of your life, the more space you create to hold your deepest desires. But remember you need to remove the clutter first.
Next up is your wardrobe. Those synthetic fabrics hold a very low frequency, linen on the other hand is the highest frequency fabric, so start clearing out those old items that don’t align, that don’t feel good on your skin. Personally I am moving away from loud obvious designer items and now prefer more classic and simple high quality. This is perfect time to get on eBay, Vinted, Depot and start selling. You want everything gone before the new year. So giving yourself a few weeks to declutter and donate those odd socks and clothes that are not a reflection of who you are becoming.
Your makeup and toiletries. Those almost finished products need to be used up asap or thrown in the bin. Your cabinet will feel way more aesthetic with less clutter and more focused products that you actually use and love. I also recommend using Yuka app to scan your products to see the health rating. No more shampoos that damage our scalps, no more body wash that is trending but actually has harmful products. We are moving into our ethical era, being more loving to our bodies with the products we use, clearing out those toxins.
Your kitchen. Your pantry. Again those ingredients that are old, almost finished, clear them out! Clear out your cupboards if you’re trying to eat healthy, donate the foods to a charity. Most supermarkets have a bin for un opened food that will go to those in need. Those tub ware with missing lids that are old, get rid of them, the chipped plates and cups. Let go.
Your emotions. Any low negative emotions that are holding you hostage, now is the time to CLEAR. I highly, HIGHLY recommend working with an EFT tapping coach, in one session you can clear some old emotions. Recently I had been feeling very negative towards my brother, we have a complicated relationship but it was there in the background like poison, polluting my mind each day with resentment and anger. Yesterday I had a 1hr session over Zoom and I cleared all that energy!! The goal is to clear out all the debris before the new year. Invest in yourself, the cost of a tapping coach is cheaper than a meal out with friends, I found my coach on Fiverr (you can book from anywhere in the world).
I hope these help to keep you on track. This is about becoming your highest expression. Showing up, living and breathing in the most elevated version of you. It requires releasing who you were, in order to be who you truly are! DOn’t sleep on these tips, the results will speak for themselves.

Any quick and easy ways to weed out bots?
I've gotten quite a few new followers lately - thank you everyone for joining me on my art journey!
Unfortunately it seems that numbers on this site also attract a large quantity of bots and scammers. I think for every one or two actual followers I gain I also gain about ten bots and I'm not too happy about that.
My inbox is also cluttered with all kinds of spam and I worry that I may accidentally just miss someone's message because of this. Apologies if this has happened!
Does anyone have any tips for quickly getting rid of the bots? I don't have enough time in the day to hand pick and block hundreds of bots every day. It's enough work doing that in my inbox.
Any sort of plugin etc I might now be aware of would be tremendous help.
Anyway, thank you for your continuous support! I'm glad to see so many people enjoy my works. I hope you'll like my future stuff too!

Omg, hi! I just wanted to drop in and say hey and that I love love love your writing so much! You are one of my favorite class rock writers in Tumblr ❤️ Please keep it up!
Also, I was wondering if you could maybe write something smutty with John on the set of A Hard Day's Night or something? You don't have to though! I just love your John writing so much, it's my favorite :)
'You know I feel alright'
London, '64
Word count: 1030
Tags: Jealousy, Semi-Public Sex, Fluff, Angst
The filming had ended.
Her role was small, of course it was. This didn't mean it wasn't exciting though - dancing in the background with the boys, it was good fun.
"Well, if it isn't our leading lady," Paul remarked, a smirk on his face.
John rolled his eyes at the comment, she couldn't tell if the action was sarcastic or not.
She looked away from Paul coyly, "Oh, Paul, not quite. I'm just in the background, you know."
"Background or wherever, you steal the scene."
Paul was a bit too sweet with her sometimes, though it was all in jest, she hoped.
John observed Paul's flirts from a distance, it made him feel awfully bitter.
"Spare her the theatrics, Macca." John murmured.
Paul was undeterred, he shot John a smirk before being whisked away by a random assistant.
She turned toward John. He stood there still, a clear annoyance etched on his face.
"Finally got rid of that distraction, didn't we?" John said.
She sighed, recognising the tension.
"John, it's not like that. Paul's just having a bit of fun."
John crossed his arms, skepticism evident in his expression.
"Fun, eh? Fun? Fun flirting? With my girl?"
She reassured him, "It's just banter, John. Nothing serious."
He scoffed, a cynical look in his eyes.
She decided to change track, as she didn't want him being mad at her.
"Did you watch me dancing, John?" She teased, hugging his waist, looking up at him.
"Yeah, you looked like a right whore." John muttered.
He hugged her back just as tightly. The proximity heightened, their closeness bordered on the edge of him almost kissing her.
John's eyes gleamed with a mischievous glint as he suggested, "How about we sneak off somewhere? Somewhere quiet, just you and me."
She quirked an eyebrow, pretending to act like she didn't get his innuendo.
"Where are you thinking?"
"A secret place, love."
Without further explanation, he yanked her hand and led her away, leaving behind the noise and commotion and Paul, heading towards a moment of privacy.
"A broom closet?" She exclaimed.
John shoved her into it, quickly switching on the dim light. He silenced any protest with a rough, wet kiss - he had no room for objections. John pinned her into a cluttered corner, his hands promptly moved up underneath her skirt, groping her bottom.
He groaned against her mouth, he knew he had her.
She pushed him back slightly, giving herself a chance to breathe after his sudden moves.
After a few breaths John pressed forward again, his hands fiddled with the zipper of her skirt. But then he gave up on the zipper and just decided he'd pull her tights down.
John tugged his belt off, he let his pants and his boxers fall down to his ankles. He rubbed himself off a bit.
There was nothing to lie her on, apart from the floor and John didn't fancy fucking her on the floor so he prompted her to jump, jump so he could fuck her standing up.
With a gasp, she leaped into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist. With one hand on the small of her back and the other gripping her hip, he lifted her against the wall. His finger traced the lace edge of her panties before pulling it to the side, teasing her entrance with the tip of his hard cock.
She put her arms around his neck for stability, her fingers tangling in his hair. His lips moved against her neck, leaving a trail of warm, wet kisses that made her shiver with desire.
He gripped her hips and lifted her up and down, his thrusts started hitting just the right spot inside her. She arched her back in response, matching his movements with perfect timing. The light sound of skin hitting skin echoed through the room as he moved harder.
"Yes, yes, yes..." she gasped out between breaths.
As the waves of pleasure coursed through her body, her legs began to shake and her grip on him weakened. She could feel her climax building and subsiding in quick succession, just as he thrusted. Her fingers barely clung to him.
John moved his hands to grip her waist firmly, guiding her body back and forth in rhythm with him. The force of his movements was intense. His manhood pulsed inside of her, the throbbing sensation was going to finish him. He let out a groan as he lost himself in her, he could barely say her name.
John pressed her against the wall so she hugged her own body closer to his.
He whimpered and his breath quickened as they moved together, their bodies desperate to be intimately intertwined.
John's last few thrusts were fervent, each one driving them both to cumming. She shivered, her cunt clenched tightly around him as they reached their peak together.
John released himself inside of her.
She could feel his entire body tense before they became a tangled mess on the floor.
John seemed disillusioned. She was giggling at the thought of what they just did, it was purely filthy.
John reached down to his ankles and tugged up his pants, he struggled to get the belt buckled. She gracefully pulled on her tights and when she finally stood up, smoothed out her skirt.
They caught each other's eye and burst into laughter, their cheeks flushed and hair messy. They tried to regain composure, though they knew it had been lost the moment they stepped foot in the closet.
"Oh, Y/N, there's something different about you." John said.
"Oh." She replied, nervously.
"Is that a compliment, John?"
He smirked.
"Take it however you want, love. Just know that I want you all to myself."
He placed her head on his chest. She rested against him, a short pause settled in.
She felt a mix of emotions, though the dominant one was longing, it was sickly.
"I'm here, aren't I?"
He leaned in for a soft kiss and she accepted it.
"You are here," he mumbled against your lips, "and I wanna keep you close."
"How close?"
"As close as us shagging in a bloody broom closet."

Clothing Sorting Guide (how to clean/purge your closet)
subtitle: as a person with autism, ADHD, or similar executive function struggles.
For my first guide, in the spirit of spring cleaning, I’d like to offer a streamlined way to sort clothes into 2 piles for purging: keep it or toss it.
I have struggled with knowing which clothes I want and which I want to get rid of. This leads to a big pileup of clothes that I don’t want or need anymore, but I have trouble parsing which ones are keepable and which aren’t if I don’t have a clear thinking process in it. These questions help me get my head in the game.
If you're in a similar predicament with a closet overflowing w/ clothes that you don't actually wear, give this a try, and let me know if it helped you.
Here’s how it works:
Make sure you dedicate enough time to this exercise, because it might be hard to start again once you take a break.
There will be 2 piles of clothes. One will be keep, and one toss. (You can also just leave your ‘keep’ clothes hanging up, if you want to. Will probably save a lot of mess, but won’t be so visually clear/divisive).
Based on the prompts below, you’ll sort the clothes into the 2 piles. Of course, it’s always ok to re-sort clothes or realize ‘you know what, maybe I do want to keep this’ regardless of the guide. This is just a simple “get you started” type of deal.
And when you're done, consider donating your clothes to your local Goodwill or homeless shelter. You can de-clutter and make a good change in the world simultaneously.
Here we go!
---
Have you worn it in the last year? > If no, TOSS IT.
Do you feel ugly in this article of clothing? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Do you feel uncomfortable in this article of clothing due to sensory reasons? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Did you buy this, but never wear it? Does it still have the tag on it? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Do you associate this piece of clothing will bad memories, and thus aren't getting any use out of it? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Do you only still own this because it's associated with good memories, but you don't wear it/like it? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Does this item fit you? > If no, TOSS IT.
Does it have large stains, visible holes, or other damage? > If yes, TOSS IT.
Has your personal style changed? If it has, does this item still fit into your style? > If no, TOSS IT.
---
Those are our tosses; how do we know if we really want to keep it?
Once you've ran through these options in your mind, consider those pieces who have not yet met the 'toss it' criteria. These may be definitive items that you're set on keeping, or they may be a gray area, where you're not sure if you want them gone or not.
Tips for determining if you really want to keep them, or are just delaying the inevitable:
1. try them on. Are you comfortable? Do you feel confident wearing this? Does it fit you properly, with no excessive cutting or squeezing? Do you feel the need to suck your stomach in while wearing this?
2. look back on times you wore this item. What did you pair it with? Were you confident wearing this, or did you feel insecure for one reason or another? How did you feel wearing this?
3. ignore the sunken cost fallacy. If this an expensive item, don't consider its monetary value in the elimination process--if you haven't worn it, chances are you won't again. Resell it, if you want to earn some money back from an expensive purchase. Otherwise, donate it.
4. consider the opportunities you will have to wear this item. Is it a daring shirt perfect for a party? Is it formalwear? If you can think of times it would be appropriate to wear, perfect. If you can't, reevaluate keeping it. (for example, if you previously worked as a clown but don't anymore, don't keep your clown suit for shits and giggles).
I hope this helps, and feel free to submit asks or comments to this blog for other autism accommodation tips that anyone can make happen in their daily life.

I've been watching a lot of stuff on physical media collections, streaming, and minimalism.
And it really hit me that most people talking about this are men because obvious tips that are common in say the house management/house cleaning niche - largely produced and watched by women - were never mentioned.
So I'll say it here. Are you wanting to have physical copies of media again but you don't want it to become clutter?
Check out Dana K. White's "Container Concept" - you use a physical container and they cannot exceed what you can fit in that container. A book of DVDs or a bin of CDs or a shelf for your books - all containers.
This even applies to digital to a degree too. If you get an MP3 player, your music downloads can't exceed the memory limits of that player.
I find this works better than one in one out for me.
Free, Thrift, Buy -- check for free sources first, thrift second, buy new last. Generally, what you're willing to expend more energy to get goes down with each step.
Purgeatory - create a spot for what you're considering getting rid of. Let it sit for a few weeks or months, you can see that you don't use it, then you can feel better about getting rid of it.

Life update and poll 💕💕
Hey cutiesss! Just wanted to let you all know that I am finally on my summer break (term systems are rough). I plan on posting a lot more. While I was locking in for the school year trust I was gathering as many ideas and tips as possible. This summer is going to be busy I’m going to be working at my summer camp again but I also am taking around 11 credits online. But still not as busy as college was so I’m making time to post.
Speaking of posting I want to get back into my monthly challenges. Those were some of my favorite posts to make. Obviously I don’t want to start in June because it’s half over but definitely July. So you guys know what time it is I have some themes for the month of July and I would love to hear your opinions on which ones you would like best.
Also as always my asks and dms are always open even if it has nothing to do with the monthly challenge. I love giving out advice that is helpful and I love hearing from you guys!

Chapter 1 - Forget-me-not

Picturesque. Perfect. Yet… homely. It was a small mansion, somewhat modest in size - or, at least, as modest as a mansion can get. Against the backdrop of a nighttime cityscape, it stood dormant, much like its closest neighbors, all but one.
This was the target.
Well, more specifically, the painting inside the master study was the target. And that's exactly where the Thief would be heading. YN LN. master thief extraordinaire. A true professional in the art of trespassing and stealing. Not that it was technically a real profession, but people paid her for it, so it was good enough as one.
Besides, it's what she was good at - her skills were best suited to this kind of job rather than any other job there was for her out there. She’d tried - many times, the longest she lasted was as a cashier at some supermarket. It took an entire year before she got bored and started messing around on the job, and another three months before they fired her for it.
Ultimately, burglary is what she fell back to.
Back to the job;
This one was rather simple, a little boring for her tastes, get into the building, find the master study, steal the painting hanging above the mantle piece. It was boring and uneventful - at least, thats how it was shaping up to be as she moved through darkened corridors with ease - not even a creak in the floor boards to send her anxiety sky rocketing! No fun to be had at all. The art of theft was lost on this palace - stupidly easy to get in, stupidly easy to move through, and stupidly easy to navigate.
Perhaps that's why she began snooping around. After stealing the painting, of course. A beautiful piece - a pearly white vase full of wild, blue forget-me-nots. It was almost a shame to take it down and roll it up. But that's what she did, before eventually moving over to the desk in the room. Cluttered and untidy and covered in paper - various documents and letters and other such things, of course, YN didn’t hesitate to swipe up a few of the letters and give them a quick read.
She’d done this before, on other jobs, and usually, it wasn’t an issue, there was never anything to be concerned about, just a few funny little tidbits about someone's personal life - this however, the contents of these letters made her face pale and her blood run cold. This was - they were plans. Nothing too detailed, but there was enough for her to understand what was going on.
The writer of this letter and the man it was mailed too had plans to meet up to discuss something of great importance to them both. It was only briefly touched on in the letter but… well, the plans they wanted to discuss in more detail - how to remove the SSS from the playing field.
Honestly, if not for the evidence in her hands, YN would have had a hard time believing it - afterall, who in their right mind would discuss something like this through mere letters - something so easitl interceptable! But alas, the letters sat in her hands, and she wasnt sure what to do with them.
Does she report this to the SSS? Say something? Do something?! Ah! But what can she do? She's a thief: a criminal. What would she say - ‘Oh, I was just in the middle of stealing some painting when I decided to intrude on this poor man a little more and found some letters about how they are planning to ‘get rid’ of the SSS’. no! She couldn’t do that. An anonymous tip then - also not possible, see, the whole thing with the SSS was that they were secret - not many people, if anyone at all, outside of themselves knew who actually worked there. It was a dilemma, but YN tried to reason with herself a little - she didn't need to report it or tell anyone - there was no concrete proof, just some ideals and plans to meet up and discuss something in person in a letter. There was no threat to life - no clear threat anyway, so it would be fine if she didn't say anything, right?
YN didnt have much time to ponder on it though, as she heard footsteps fast approaching the study; had she been discovered? Probably not, but it wouldnt be a good idea to stick around.
Looking around the room, she spotted the window behind her and hastily pushed it open, slipping out quietly just as the study door opened up.

chapter 1 done! I'm actually feeling motivated to write this right now.
No Yuri yet, but he'll turn up soon.

This is one of the things I'm most ashamed about, but your recent tutorial posts made me brave enough to talk about it.
Do you have any tips on cleaning a house that's completely fucked?
Clutter everywhere and maggots on occassion and gunk. I should have done something about it a long time ago, but didn't - and now it's a huge task and very intimidating.
so I've never cleaned a house in those conditions, but I feel it's exactly what auriikatarina does on youtube, so I'll link her channel, I've learned most of what I know from her!
This video is about cleaning on of the filthiest houses ever so it could be helpful! She shows you exactly how she tackles it and even what cleaning tools and products to use, to be able to clean more easily.
I think with houses like that, it's just very overwhelming and impossible to know where to start, it can put you off just to try and then not see any results or be overwhelmed and have it go too slow or too poorly. And the thing is, it doesn't matter where you start, if you're able to clean one little table, one small corner, if it looks nicer than the rest, it will give you that rush of happiness and achievement and encourage you to clean another little bit, and then another. There's absolutely no judgment on not doing anything about it sooner, I sometimes neglect my space for a long time too!
Since gunk and bacteria can be dangerous, I should advise you to wear gloves, face mask, and to use something strong enough to sterilize really bad areas. Also cleaning really messed up places is so popular on the internet lately, you could theoretically make content out of it (I'm joking, but if the idea inspires you and helps you out, who knows).
One thing that is also great to do is to take photos of it at the start, and then take photos as you're at it, so you can see visual improvements! It feels great when you change something very filthy.
It might also help to learn more about organizing, to be able to manage and organize the clutter, this alone can be even more challenging than the cleaning! If you can see some videos on organizing and get an idea on how to sort the clutter, pick what you need and maybe get rid of some, it might make it more clear in your mind how to tackle this!
I also want to tell you that you're not alone, there's many people struggling with this, and many people can't tackle this without any help. It is a big thing that you should receive help about! There's no shame in struggling because when you're mentally ill, you don't see your space, you can't concentrate, and you are just trying to make it trough the day, maintaining living space is the last thing on your mind.
I hope you manage to get trough even one part, no matter how you do it, it's fine, as long as you feel a bit better and accomplished from getting a bit of it done! It's okay to take weeks and months and slowly do it bit by bit. Nobody can do this in a day or two, and you should have no pressure on you to progress quickly. Good luck!

breaking / preventing bad booktok habits
no one asked my opinion, but i've been thinking about this a lot so i'm going to give it anyway.
consumerism on booktube is a tale as old as time, and it's just as bad if not worse on booktok (due to the norm on tikok being to post something new at least once a day), and that leads a lot of book influencers (both on youtube and tiktok, and even instagram to an extent) into some really bad spending and consumption habits
this is my very long opinion piece on some tips and changes to make if you've already developed these bad habits or feel like you're about to.
tldr: stop buying in to hype and by more mindful about what you buy, and REMEMBER THAT LIBRARIES EXIST.
go to the library
quite simple. allows you to read as many books as you want without spending money or cluttering your home. and if you argue back that your local library is small / doesn't have a large selection, that's all the more reason to support it!! it won't grow or improve if it doesn't have people behind it.
getting rid of books
don't feel like you have to get rid of books even if you enjoyed them. i myself have larger book collection than most people i know. but you do have to make peace with the idea of getting rid of books from time to time. stop treating it like the worst thing that ever happened to you.
next time your bookshelf is full, don't immediately jump to buying a new shelf. instead, go through your entire collection and see what you really want to keep. do the marie kondo thing and take everything off the shelf so you can go through each book one by one. go over it multiple times over a couple of days, so you can come at it with fresh eyes.
when you look at each individual book, really think about it. ask yourself: did i even like this book? if i did, will i ever reread it? was it important to me or was it just a book i enjoyed and will never think about again? if i can't remember my feelings on a book, am i willing to reread it to find out?
if you have books that you were neutral on, that you liked but not in any notable way, or that you straight up didn't enjoy, it might be time to move on from them. donate to your local library: if you didn't enjoy them, there might be someone out there who might, and if you did enjoy them, they're right there if you ever have the urge to read them again.
don't think about book purges as tearing apart your perfect collection, but instead think about it as making room for something new that you enjoy and appreciate a lot more.
if you've gone over your collection multiple times and you still have no room, then feel free to buy a new shelf and expand your collection. obviously, as you read more books you'll find more that meant a lot to you that you want to keep. again, it's not about mimimalism, it's about mindfulness.
unread books
some book influencers (and their fans) have a MASSIVE problem with unread books. as in, they have 100+ on their shelves and they keep buying more to add to the pile. if you have books in your collection that have remained unread for years... it might be time to get rid of some of them. sorry.
do the same thing with the unread books as you did with the read books: go over them one by one and really think about why you're keeping them.
how long have you had it? if you've had a book for 5+ years, and you haven't felt the urge to read it yet, do you really think you're ever going to? read the description: does it seem like something that actually interests you, or did you buy it on a whim? perhaps it interested you when you bought it, but time has passed and tastes change; does it interest you now?
if you haven't touched or even thought about a book in multiple years but you can't bring yourself to get rid of it because "well maybe someday i'll need it!!" consider how dangerously close to hoarder mentality you're getting.
if you're really convinced that you'll enjoy a certain book, set it aside. make the books you set aside your priority for the next 6 months / the next year and don't buy anymore in that timeframe. if by the end of that time you haven't read the books you set aside, it's time to accept that you are simply never going to read them, and its better that they get some use rather than collect dust.
once again: donate any you get rid of to the library. if you're worried that you're going to suddenly want to read them (even though you haven't for years) and won't have them anymore, remember that if you give them to library they will be right there for you to borrow whenever you like. except that, in the time between you donating them and reading them, they won't have simply been sitting on your shelf gathering dust. instead, other people will have gotten the chance to read them and perhaps enjoyed them more than you ever would.
buying books
quite simply, just be more mindful about the books you buy.
when a new book becomes trendy on booktok or booktube, don't buy it right away. a lot of book influencers' unread books tend to be ones that they bought because they were really popular online, but that they lost interest in when the trend died out. if you're worried about missing out, remember that the book will still be available when the trend dies, and if you're only interested in something so you can partake in the trend... you're not really interesting in the book. you're interested in the clout.
when a book trend catches your eye, takes some time to think about it instead. first of all, does the book actually seem like something you're interested in? yes, everyone on booktok is talking about this new historical romance, but do you even like historical romance? this new epic fantasy is filling your youtube recommendations, but do you even like epic fantasy? look at reviews. look at reviews from people you know have similar tastes to you. did they like it? were the things they liked about it things that you enjoy?
if after thinking it through you're still engaged, go ahead and buy it! once again, its not about mimimalism. it's not about having less books. it's about mindfulness.
if you're subscribed to a book subscription box (or, god forbid, multiple book subscription boxes) maybe take stock and see if you actually want to remain subscribed. in the past 12 months, how many books from them have you read, and how many have you actually enjoyed? in my opinion, unless you've read an enjoyed the majority of books you've recieved in the past year, it might be time to unsubscribe. also always know that if a particular month's selection really interests you, you can simply buy the non-subscription version of the book without paying for all the ones that don't interest you.
like many book lovers, i enjoy wandering aimlessly around the bookstore even if i don't get anything, but if impulse buying books is an issue for you don't go to bookstores for fun. stay away from book-specific online stores. if you're spending issue is really bad, it might be time to block book-related social media tags (aka abandon booktok).
if you have an issue with your unread books getting out of control, set aside a physical space for your physical to-be-read and always ensure that your unread books can fit inside that space. if it starts to overflow, thats your sign that you need to ban yourself from buying books and focus on the books you already have (and then actually stick to that!!).
i personally have a three-tiered utility cart that i use (they're really common, you can find them a lot of places, but mine is specifically from ikea). it has a little wooden table lid that goes on the top tier that prevents me from storing anything in that layer. my unread books go in the bottom two tiers. if they get to the point that, to store them all, i have to remove the lid and start putting them on the top tier, i know that i need to slow down in my book buying and stay away from the book store. if, after that, it gets to the point where the entire top tier is full, then i know that it's time for a full book-buying ban until they're all read.
other methods i've seen people use: keep a separate, much smaller bookshelf in another part of the house. keep them in stacks but use a ruler to measure how tall the stacks get, and go on a ban if they get above a certain height. limit unread books to how many can comfortably fit on the bedside table. etc.
in general, it's best to NOT store unread books on the shelf with your other books. if they're on your shelf next to all your read books, you may not really be able to comprehend how many unread books you have, which can lead to the number getting out of hand.
and if you're buying books less for the pleasure of reading them and more for the pleasure of buying them (aka you genuinely not as a joke say "buying books and reading books are two different hobbies")... babygirl you have a shopping addiction </3
special editions
a lot of book influencers have a lot of special editions of books, but rarely have they read all of them. a lot of people really like collecting special editions, which is why my advice to unsubscribe from book boxes might, perhaps, be difficult.
however, many people who own a lot of these special editions don't really care about what's inside the book. rather, they care about the clout that comes with having a lot of special editions. even if they aren't an influencer, if you consume a lot of book content, you might get a feeling of superiority knowing that you have this type of collection that your favorite creators have.
essentially, when you go through your special editions, treat them the same as your other books from earlier but also ask yourself:
(1) is there anything actually special about this special edition? some special editions have exclusive bonus content such as cut chapters, interviews with the author, special art on the inside, et cetera; is this one of those or is it just the trade version with a recolored cover?
(2) if i have multiple different special editions of the same book, is there anything to actually distinguish them? do they have different exclusive bonus conent? different exclusive covers made by different talented artists? or are they essentially the same, except this cover is a slightly different shade of red, and this one has gold foiling in a slightly different spot?
(3) assuming i've read it, did this book actually mean something to me? do i care enough about this book to want a special copy of it? if i thought it was just okay, or even disliked it, wouldn't it be better off in the hands of someone who has it down as one of their favorite books of all time?
if you're going over your book box subscriptions and you say that you wouldn't be interesting in reading a certain book if you don't get your hands on the special edition, remeber that your experience of reading will be exactly the same if you have the exclusive special edition hardback or the standard trade paperback. it's like the tiktok trend; if you're only interested in this book if you have a special edition, you're not really interested in the book. you're interested in the clout.
essentially, the base thing you have to consider is: do you want this rare, expensive copy because the book actually means something to you, or because you want the online social status that comes from having a rare, expensive copy?
conclusion
once again, the main point is: be more mindful about the books you buy.
actually think about if you're interested in reading something instead of buying books you'll never read on a whim. think about whether your buying something for yourself or for clout.
and remember that libraries exist!! donate books to your library, donate funds to your library, borrow books from your library, etc. if you like audiobooks or ebooks, download whatever app your library uses. if your library doesn't have a book that you'd like to read, put in a request and they might purchase. participate in your library's events and activities. get involved in your library. show your local library the love it deserves!!!
bye. if you have another tip about breaking or preventing bad book habits, feel free to reblog w/ your tip.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed at content claiming to be about hoarding and dealing with hoarding when it's not at all. At best it's disorganised clutter, at worst it's someone chasing minimalism.
An ACTUAL tip for fellow hoarders from a hoarder trying to do a downsize for a future move without overly triggering the "re-acquire at greater levels" response: You've got to start so early.
I'll move probably in September. I started in February.
My daily goal: Get rid of (charity, barter, bin) 3 objects a day. 2 easy, one harder. If I bin the harder, it counts for all 3 objects. I can go over the amount if I'm on a roll, but if afterward I'm looking at online shopping or thinking about acquiring more items, I pause for a few days.
I try to battle that anxiety by going through stuff in my collection for Fun, like rediscovering my objects I love, triggering those good feelings I get from my stuff, in an attempt to curb the urge to Get More by provoking that hit with stuff I already have. It's partially successful, honestly, and if I do end up buying stuff, I try to make sure I buy consumables. Food, a bathbomb, a scented candle, something I will use up. Or, I try to make sure what I buy is physically 'less' than what I got rid of, smaller / lighter / takes up less space.
Again, it's a battle against a brain which is having a panic response. There's only so much I can do.
But it DOES get easier to get rid of things when you go slowly, it's a muscle and an anxiety response and both need to be practiced, flexed, and rested. I've made a lot of physical progress and I hope mental / emotional progress, but I will always be fighting this fight, and I will always be a messy, cluttered, maximalist. It's just trying to keep it actually manageable (not what I think is manageable when I'm in denial) and where I'm happy, not overwhelmed and in distress.
Also to add, for me easy objects are never actually easy, but they're things I can rationally say are trash, or I don't like them, or I'm never going to use them, even if my Feelings are saying different.
These objects might be half a bottle of conditioner I didn't like, or a half used bottle of ketchup past its sell by date (which still looks fine), or a pen which only sometimes works now, or a tupperware which had gotten really mouldy and now I'm too nervous to use.
That's what I mean when I say "easy" objects. I am still anxious getting rid of those items, but they're less likely to haunt me.
Harder objects are things like a pair of shoes which are broken and don't fit me. A half knitted doll jumper which is the wrong size and I won't ever frog. A broken computer mouse. I don't make the rules about what is easy or hard in my brain, it often makes little rational sense, but it's usually based on (perceived) value, sentiment, or just liking the object even if it's in an unusable state.
That's the sort of stuff hoarders battle with.
Also, I'm begging you, if you're a content creator PLEASE stop calling things hoarding when they're not. Hoarding has clearly defined markers that need to be met, please be aware of these.

Moving advice!!! First of all congratulations on your big step towards independence! Second of all, a lot of advice you might get is quite personal, but I'll try to make things as broad as possible. If you know your own mind well enough, it becomes a lot easier to gauge if something will work for you. That being said! Here are my top tips. Apologies for potentially wierd formatting, I'm on mobile ;;
#1 - communal living. Depending on your situation, you may be sharing a kitchen or a bathroom with any number of people. To avoid irritating clutter, or the chance of accidental (or purposeful) theft, keep visible bathroom and kitchen stuff to a minimum, and watch sentimentally valuable things like a hawk. Keep those things in your room if you can. You might trust your housemates implicitly, but things get broken by accident all the time, and you can't guarantee the conduct of guests, wardens, landlords, tradies etc.
#2 - if you're in a dorm, get a doormat and a shoe rack for your room. Doesn't have to be big or flashy, but it creates a sense of zoning and helps to avoid the dreaded Shoe Pile making everything cluttered/dirty/shoe-smelling. It'll be a nice experience for your guests too.
#3 - storage storage storage!!! Underbed boxes, shelves, hanging baskets and nets, rolling carts, shelf baskets, drawer boxes, you name it. This is a great way to prioritise exactly what you want, and provides easy ways to transport things between accommodations if / when you decide to move.
#4 - prioritise being a clean housemate. Even if you don't get along perfectly with your roommates or dormmates, being a neat + tidy person can only help things. Don't leave the drainer full of stuff, clean out old food in the fridge, hoover/sweep/dust if you can, take the bins out etc. Obviously this depends a lot on your mobility and circumstances, but whatever you can do towards this goal, the better. For the bathroom specifically, the quicker you get on top of cleaning all the nooks and crannies like around the taps, corners of the shower etc, the higher chance you have that nothing will get gross and oxidise-y, and save a lot of effort during inspections.
#5 - sometimes useful knicknacks will be your best friend. Get flipflops to use in the bathroom + shower; get two or three bottle openers because they will get stolen; get scented powder for your bathroom bin; buy an air freshener/candle/reed or oil diffuser; get rubber gloves and a handled sponge; get a squeegee for the shower door; get antibacterial wipes for surfaces as well as a cloth + sponge.
#6 - if this is possible for you, make sure that you ventilate your space well. Mould is one of the number one things that a landlord will crack your head about because it is so difficult to get rid of. Black mould especially can be v dangerous. So if you have wet or damp things in your room like laundry or towels, keep airflow as high as possible.
OK this is incredibly long but I think this is everything I wish I'd known. I have been living in shared housing for about 8 or 9 years now and have had some very shocking housemates, and honestly especially in the early days I have *been* a very shocking housemate. So these things are learned through big trials and big errors lmao;; when I moved, my mum immediately went to a different fucking continent, so I don't have the option to change things round easily, or store large stuff with her. If that's your situation too, I'm very sorry - but if it isn't, use that to your advantage. You don't have to pack everything but the kitchen sink. You will amass things like bedding, crockery, decorative knicknacks etc as you move through life - make sure you have room for them!
Once again all the best with your move. I hope its exciting and you get everything you want from it! All the best :>
thank you so much for taking the time to write this all out!! this is all such helpful info I truly appreciate it! its going to be interesting living with potentially 3 other people that I have never met before in my entire life so I will be taking a lot of these points into consideration.

Is your space feeling heavy? Stagnant energy can creep in without warning, leaving you feeling drained and distracted. It could be time for a spiritual reset to restore balance and harmony. 🖤
Whether it's your home, office, or sacred space, keeping the energy fresh is essential to maintaining a positive, high-vibe environment. While many turn to sage for cleansing, it's not always the best option. There are a variety of methods you can use to clear negative energy and reset the vibe in your space. Let's break it down:
Sound Cleansing – Bells, chimes, or even clapping your hands can help break up negative energy. The vibration clears out the heaviness, leaving your space feeling lighter. If you're dealing with a lot of tension, a singing bowlcan really get the energy moving.
Moonlight Cleansing – The power of the moon isn't just for rituals. Leave your crystals, jewelry, or even important items under moonlight for a few hours to recharge and cleanse them. It’s especially effective during a full moon.
Smudging with Intention – If you're drawn to the smoke of sage, sweetgrass, or palo santo, use it with clear intention. As the smoke swirls, imagine it carrying away any negative energy and replacing it with positivity. A little ritual goes a long way!
Salt Cleansing – Salt is known for its purifying properties. Scatter a bit around the corners of your space or use salt water to wipe down surfaces. Sea salt is especially potent, absorbing the negativity and leaving behind a calm, serene atmosphere.
Declutter and Cleanse – Physical clutter often holds onto stagnant energy. Taking time to tidy up and refresh your space isn’t just for physical cleanliness, but spiritual wellness, too. A clean space is a clear mind.
Remember, when cleansing your space, you're not just getting rid of stale energy—you're making room for new, positive energy to flow in. Whether you're resetting after a tough day, or just need a fresh vibe, these techniques will leave your space feeling magical and inviting.

Helping with Home Organization
Understanding Home Organization
Home organization is all about creating a space that is tidy, functional, and comfortable. It involves sorting, arranging, and storing items in a way that makes life easier. When I think about home organization, I imagine a home where everything has its place, and I can find what I need without stress!
It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about efficiency! A well-organized home can save time and energy, making daily routines smoother. By decluttering and organizing, I can create a peaceful environment, which is crucial for both relaxation and productivity.

The Benefits of Home Organization
There are many reasons why home organization is essential. For starters, it can lead to a more productive lifestyle. When I know where everything is, I can focus on my tasks without distractions. Plus, an organized home can reduce stress and anxiety, leading to a happier life!
Increased Productivity: Fewer distractions mean I can get more done.
Better Time Management: Finding things quickly saves me valuable time.
Stress Reduction: A clutter-free space creates a calm environment.
Getting Started with Organizing
Starting the organization process can feel overwhelming. It’s important to break it down into manageable steps. I often begin with one room or area at a time. This way, I don’t get discouraged, and I can celebrate small victories along the way!
Another great tip is to involve the whole family. When everyone pitches in, it can make the process more enjoyable and efficient. Plus, teaching kids about organization early on can instill lifelong habits!
Decluttering Techniques
Decluttering is the first step in home organization. I like to use the Four-Box Method, where I label boxes as "Keep," "Donate," "Trash," and "Relocate." This simple system helps me quickly decide what to do with each item and makes the process less daunting.
Here are some other effective decluttering techniques I find helpful:
One In, One Out: For every new item I bring in, I get rid of an old one!
30-Day Rule: If I haven’t used something in 30 days, it’s time to let it go.
Sentimental Items: Limit keepsakes to a few special items to avoid clutter.
Organizing Tips for Each Room
Each room in my home requires a unique approach to organization. The kitchen, for example, benefits from clear containers for pantry items. This way, I can easily see what I have and avoid buying duplicates!
In the living room, I use decorative baskets to keep items like magazines and toys out of sight. Not only does this keep the space neat, but it also adds a nice touch to the decor. Here are some quick tips for specific areas:
Bedroom: Invest in under-bed storage for seasonal items.
Bathroom: Use caddies for easier access to toiletries.
Office: Organize with folders and labels to keep paperwork in check.
Maintaining Organization
Once I’ve organized my home, the next challenge is maintaining it! I find that setting a small daily routine can make a big difference. For instance, I spend just 10 minutes each day putting things back in their place. It sounds simple, but it truly works!
Another important aspect is to regularly reassess my space. I schedule a monthly check-in to see if any areas need a quick refresh. This practice helps keep clutter from building up again!
Getting Professional Help
Sometimes, I realize that I need a little extra help with organization. Hiring a professional organizer can be a great option! They can offer expert advice, personalized plans, and hands-on assistance to tackle more complex projects. You can even explore helpful tips like effective clutter management at https://www.organizedaussie.com/blog/space-hacks/effective-rubbish-removal-strategies.
When considering hiring help, it’s important to choose someone who fits my style and needs. Many professional organizers also provide virtual consultations, which can be a convenient option!
Conclusion
Helping with home organization is a rewarding journey. Whether I’m doing it myself or seeking help, the benefits are clear! With a little planning and effort, I can create a functional and peaceful living space. So, let’s get started on organizing our homes and enjoy the fresh, tidy vibe they bring!
