TW: Heavily implied Child Abuse
Stowaway AU where Pacifica becomes a stowaway on the Stan-O-War 2 after trying to run away from home to California. Things donât exactly work out as planned, but at least sheâs got a âSummer Internshipâ away from her parents now!

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snowâs 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that sheâs going to leave or betray him. heâs just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that âoh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?â in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.
#seeing some discourse and im not saying lucy grey didnt know#im saying she never dropped the kind of hints that she knew like she did in the movie#or if she did snow isnt worried about them until he very suddenly is consumed by them#snow is not concerned about whether or not she believed him. of course she did! hes snow!#but then shes goneâŚ. for a whileâŚâŚ#and its the sudden immediate drastic unravelling that comes across so clearly in the book#that i knew wouldnât translate to screen yet still cant help but miss#the hunger games#coriolanus snow#tbosas#lucy gray baird#not a crime or anything just a note that i cannot stop thinking about#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#this is all from memory of reading it quite a while ago. so maybe 3 pages is an exaggeration#but i remember it happening VERY quickly and without much external cause#like we as the reader have no indication as to whether shes nearby or not.#snow has no idea either. he just SUSPECTS. and his suspicion breeds the hatred that has been bubbling inside him all this time#he hates how she undoes him. he hates that he WOULD run away with her if shed let him keep his secrets#and he HATES more than anything that she makes him WANT to tell his secrets#he wants to be vulnerable and reveal the ugly nasty parts about himself and still be loved#but he does not let himself and it is everyoneâs downfall#he chooses cruelty bc it is easy and familiar and makes him feel more powerful than the vulnerable give and take that real love requires

Prompt:
Jason is terrified of Damian al Ghul-Wayne.
Talia dipped him in the Pit, fed him lies, put him through the worst kinds of pain possible for the sake of training and turned him into a monster that went to heel when called. A monster even Raâs was wary of.
Heâs terrified of Damian, because if his mother managed to manipulate and play him like a fiddle, then she must have taught the same to her son.
Damian, who only has memories of a catatonic Jason cooing at him, cuddling him and protecting him, is becoming progressively more distressed by Jasonâs perpetual cold shoulder and skittish behavior whenever Jason sees him.
#and round we go#to lose our minds and find our soul#Jason thinks his instinctive protective feelings and affection for Damian were planted there by Talia#in reality Jason pretty much raised Damian#only he canât remember#and Damian is heartbroken because when he went to Gotham he wasnât really looking for Bruce#he was looking for JASON#who heâd been told was dead/missing/gone#while Jason is freaking out#thinking heâs gonna be manipulated by another al Ghul#jason todd#batfamily#bruce wayne#dick grayson#batfam#robin#Damian wayne#damian al ghul#red hood#misunderstandings#prompts#fic#fanfiction#ideas#miscommunication

Prompt 329
Bruce was admittedly suspicious when Talia requests a meeting, and is admittedly still upset with the entire hiding Damianâs existence from him for literal years. But he also admits that he just⌠has to take a moment.Â
âRun that by me again please?â He had to have misheard, right? Or gotten drugged by something maybe.Â
Talia sighs, sounding just as tired as he felt. âFatherâs tea supplier has moved to Gotham after an argument, and he wishes to discuss the agreement of him not entering the city- to speak with said vendor.âÂ
#DCxDP#DPxDC#Prompts#Bruce: Why this one vendor??? there are a lot of evil people in the world and a lot of darkness in the world and so itâs very important for me to stress that now more than ever is the time to spread kindness and compassion. combat the evil by not only not partaking in it, but actively refuting it. destroy the notion that being compassionate or generous or kind to someone is uncool or embarrassing or even scary. be the change you want to see. start a chain reaction. positivity only breeds more positivity. do an act of kindness for someone so that that person who is too afraid to do it themselves can see you, realize that theyâre not alone, and perhaps sheepishly follow your example. and then the next person who is too afraid but sees that person can do the same. when bad news comes out about bad people or horrible atrocities in the world itâs such an easy impulse to despair, and obviously itâs important to feel what you need to feel. grieve. be angry. be sorrowful. be empathetic. but dust off your pants and get up and be a part of a chain reaction that, no matter how small the scale, and spread compassion and love and care. all the reasons why you might notââitâs hard! itâs scary! people will make fun of me! itâs useless because thereâs too much evil!â are all grade A arguments as to why you should. you have no idea how many people you could inspire to do the same. even if it doesnât get you anyway far, you can at least say you have the nobility of trying. please choose love and please choose life. you are worth loving and you are worth inspiring others to love

A big reason I think Spite is so upset when Manfred is gone is because he was living vicariously through Manfred.
"Curiosity has feet!" "It has. Hands!"
"Curiosity has fire!" "I want. Fire."
Manfred is a spirit given a body. Manfred is free to explore the world around them. Manfred is actively encouraged to learn, to interact with the party, to engage in play and learn to speak.
Spite struggles to speak to Lucanis because he doesn't know how to say what he really means sometimes. Spite struggles to speak through Lucanis because they share his body. Spite is reprimanded for asking questions and making observations but Manfred isn't.
Spite probably liked Manfred in part because Manfred was getting to have fun and be a person and be... loved. Spite cares for Curiosity and by spending time with Curiosity he got to understand what being treasured and love was like as well.
Spite can understand why the party is wary of him even if he thinks it is unfair, but Curiosity dying? No longer getting to be in a body that learns and grows and loves? That is unfair to Curiosity. Curiosity is not a demon. Why would they be punished? Why is good, happy Manfred gone but miserable Spite who everyone hates is still around. It is. not fair.
#spite dragon age#spite dellamorte#lucanis dellamorte#manfred the skeleton#spite probably looked at manfred like a younger sibling where he is the practice child and manfred is the kid that was planned for#spite coveted what curiosity was given but he didn't want to take it away from them#spite had a little buddy of sorts and he was so happy for curiosity which he only realized after they were gone#spite talks to rook about it at night while lucanis sleeps#rook has always been unafraid of spite and kind to him so its enough to have them but curiosity deserved better#so spite thinks

Much has been made of Mr Darcy's "confession" to Elizabeth that he does not converse easily with strangers. It is repeatedly used to support neurodivergent interpretations of his character. And I suppose that when taken at face value, a character confessing that they do not easily converse with strangers and struggle to catch their tone or appear interested in conversation can absolutely scream AUTISM! (I say as an autistic person myself)
But this line is often taken in isolation. When considered in terms of the passage in which it appears in Chapter 31, it appears far less of a smoking gun than may initially be suspected. After some discussion about Elizabeth and Darcy's prior acquaintance in Hertfordshire, Colonel Fitzwilliam asks Elizabeth for information about Darcy's behaviour there. She readily supplies it:
'Pray let me hear what you have to accuse him of,' cried Colonel Fitzwilliam. 'I should like to know how he behaves among strangers.' 'You shall hear thenâbut prepare yourself for something very dreadful. The first time of my ever seeing him in Hertfordshire, you must know, was at a ballâand at this ball, what do you think he did? He danced only four dances, though gentlemen were scarce; and, to my certain knowledge, more than one young lady was sitting down in want of a partner. Mr Darcy, you cannot deny the fact.' 'I had not at that time the honour of knowing any lady in the assembly beyond my own party.'
What Darcy leaves out here is that it was he himself who chose not to be introduced to anybody. As we learn from the description of his behaviour at the Meryton assembly in Chapter 3:
Mr Darcy danced only once with Mrs Hurst and once with Miss Bingley, declined being introduced to any other lady, and spent the rest of the evening in walking about the room, speaking occasionally to one of his own party.
Anyway, Elizabeth correctly does not buy his excuses. Not only does she respond with a cutting sarcastic remark, but she tries to bring the discussion with an end by speaking to Colonel Fitzwilliam:
'True; and nobody can ever be introduced in a ball-room. Well, Colonel Fitzwilliam, what do I play next? My fingers wait your orders.'
But Darcy does not get the hint and continues conversing with Elizabeth rather than quitting while he's ahead. However, I don't believe him to be missing a social cue here. Rather, this is an exceedingly conceited man who cannot conceive that anyone would not want to speak to such a Superior Being as he and more-so, is determined to defend himself from a perceived slight against his impeccable character.
Then we come to the passage containing the oft-cited line which allegedly contains proof of his neurodivergency:
'Perhaps,' said Darcy, 'I should have judged better, had I sought an introduction; but I am ill-qualified to recommend myself to strangers.' 'Shall we ask your cousin the reason of this?' said Elizabeth, still addressing Colonel Fitzwilliam. 'Shall we ask him why a man of sense and education, and who has lived in the world, is ill-qualified to recommend himself to strangers?' 'I can answer your question,' said Fitzwilliam, 'without applying to him. It is because he will not give himself the trouble.'
Once again, Elizabeth does not buy his excuse for even a single second. She's fully aware of all the advantages a man such as he will have received in society (opportunities not open to women, might I add!) and draws attention to that fact. It's a brilliant, cutting line from her and she really set that one up for Colonel Fitzwilliam to deliver the knockout blow.
Not only do we have the testimony of Mr Darcy's cousin, that 'he will not give himself the trouble,' to appear cordial to strangers, but we have evidence from Wickham too. Although after this statement, Wickham quickly goes onto misrepresent Darcy's kindness to the poor, which contradicts Mrs Reynold's later testimony, I do believe Wickham to be telling the truth (for once!) here, when he tells Elizabeth in Chapter 16:
'Mr Darcy can please where he chooses. He does not want abilities. He can be a conversible companion if he thinks it worth his while.'
Which, again, demonstrates that Darcy is capable when he wants to be. That is the crucial point. Autistic people fundamentally lack the ability to understand social cues, they cannot turn it on and off as they please because they are snobs.
So, now we come to the infamous line about Darcy's supposed social struggles, and I hope that I've provided enough context to the line to make you see that it should not be taken at face value:
'I certainly have not the talent which some people possess,' said Darcy, 'of conversing easily with those I have never seen before. I cannot catch their tone of conversation, or appear interested in their concerns, as I often see done.' 'My fingers,' said Elizabeth, 'do not move over this instrument in the masterly manner which I see so many womenâs do. They have not the same force or rapidity, and do not produce the same expression. But then I have always supposed it to be my own faultâbecause I will not take the trouble of practising. It is not that I do not believe my fingers as capable as any other womanâs of superior execution.'
Again, Elizabeth is not buying his excuses for even a single second and tells him if he feels like that, maybe he should put the effort in. She has seen him in numerous social settings and been thoroughly unimpressed with his behaviour which, when you consider his rudeness to her at the Meryton assembly, she has every right to be.
So, what do I make of the line?
Well, I think it's abundantly clear that Darcy absolutely can speak to people when he wants to. Perhaps, in his mind, he struggles to make that deeper connection and make friends easily. But making friends is not always easy, it's a process you must invest time and effort into. If you do not do that, it stands to reason that you will struggle. Plus, if you hold others to ridiculous standards (as Darcy does) without recognising and fixing the flaws within yourself, you're not going to have deep, lasting friendships.
While this quote may appear to be a moment of vulnerability where he does confess a fault of his, which is astounding given his pride, personally I do not think it was not a soul-searching exercise. It was to make Elizabeth stop grilling him. It was self-serving. Although, I don't think he's entirely lying. Darcy is veeeery careful with his words and though this statement is not considered and perhaps comes out rather abruptly, it doesn't necessarily follow that it isn't true. I can imagine that it is probably something he's felt for a while, yet it is a rather desperate attempt to defend himself from a woman who sees right through him.
I think perhaps Darcy does realise that he isn't as naturally gifted as other men he knows (such as Wickham, Colonel Fitzwilliam and Mr Bingley) when it comes to forming acquaintances. However, he looks outwards and turns that bitterness against the world rather than looking inwards, reflecting upon himself and improving his manners which would be the correct thing to do. Thankfully, he later does this, but it took him twenty eight years...
In addition, Darcy appeared to have been under the illusion that he could coast by on Pemberley's reputation... which has always worked... until he met Elizabeth. For perhaps the first time, he encounters a woman who is not awestruck by him and his reputation and delivers the rebuke that he always needed.
So, while personally I'm inclined to believe there is some truth to his statement, as Mr Darcy is many things but he isn't a liar, I think it is said in desperation. His feeling stems from him knowing what he should do, but he can't be bothered to enact it... rather than any inherent social deficiency stemming from being neurodivergent.
Although, even if he does struggle socially, it's still no excuse for the rudeness he displayed to Elizabeth! My main issue with neurodivergent readings of Darcy is when they are deployed to defend his behaviour, when they attribute his rudeness to any potential neurodivergency and when they excuse his laziness. That is an awful message! Autistic people who struggle with social cues often do not, nor should they, go around insulting others. They should and often do put plenty of effort into being considerate and polite. In fact, I think, if anything, a love of rules makes us more likely to have good manners, rather than the reverse.
Ultimately, I'm not sure this line makes Mr Darcy the sympathetic-poor-sweet-innocent-shy-boy-autistic-representation that people want him to be. In fact it makes him look even worse, if anything. On matters such as these, he is every inch the conceited proud man he was widely believed to be at the Meryton assembly. Luckily, Elizabeth is an incredibly smart woman, who doesn't fall for it and immediately calls him out on his behaviour in a way that he has never experienced before. As she should!
#mr darcy#pride and prejudice#jane austen#elizabeth bennet#colonel fitzwilliam#mr wickham#my analysis#nd things#let darcy be flawed you cowards#<- but we don't necessarily need to pathologise him lol#now i'll whisper quietly in the tags lest the ableist sections of the austen fandom tear me limb from limb#(not saying EVERYONE who disagrees with nd readings of some of darcy's behaviour is ableist just some ways it's countered are... Not Great)#that i don't actually MIND nd!darcy headcanons when done WITHOUT a view to excusing his behaviour#and being clear that it is NOT what the author intended but. autistic boys get away with murder even today so it isn't hard to imagine that#especially with someone with as much wealth and status as darcy... his worst traits could've gone unchecked for so long#but he main reason i don't inherently have an issue with nd!darcy is because nd people existed back then but we weren't accommodated#i get that if he was nd there is an argument the narrative is just about him learning to mask but... a) the concept of masking didn't exist#and b) if he was a woman he'd have had to do it long before 28 sooooo. let the big boy face consequences for his actions!#i think there's something in darcy interpreting his fathers advice so literally with no room for nuance#that it leads him down that path of conceit when he's not actually a bad man at his core and never has been#bc that's very black and white thinking which makes me wonder... but on the whole i'm not sure#i'm not saying either way and ultimately it doesn't matter but it's fun to consider#within reason ofc... it's comforting to see evidence of autism in classics it's one of my FAVE things#but not sure darcy is the best example of this#if you want autistic characters in p&p mr collins and mary are RIGHT THERE lmao#but perhaps they are even worse representation so maybe not lmao#anyway wanted to make this post for a while and the Words came to me today so yay#also i didn't mention adaptations but they don't help... especially A Certain One but i've moaned enough about it for one week#and not in a fun way

Hello! Can do a chapter fic off this fic prompt Danny phantom x dc: https://www.tumblr.com/corkinavoid/767516270934556672/dpxdc-legal-power?source=share
This isnât a one-to-one recreation of that dialogue but itâs based on that as a framework/premise
Batman dropped down into the room behind a pair of figuresâa teenage boy and a slumped adultâletting his landing create an audible thump to alert them of his presence.
If the teen noticed, he didnât react. Even as Bruce approached, he continued to stare impassively at the wheezing figure on the ground, an old wooden bat with flaking green paint on its side loosely held in his right hand. Bruce had already suspected who the figure would be since he arrived, but seeing the Joker so broken was still bizarre. No laughing, no schemes. He didnât even seem to be attempting to escape his binds, just⌠lying there, almost as if pinned in place.
Bruce paused a step behind the teen. âI donât know what the Joker did to you, but this isnât the right way to go about this.â
The teen scoffed, and Bruce felt a painful lurch in his chest as he was reminded oh so strongly of his son Jason. âAnd what, let him go kill more people?â
âI know he deserves to face justice, but not like this. Everyone deserves a right to fair trial. No one person should be judge, jury, and executioner.â
The teen turned to look at him with glowing green eyes, and Batman felt himself freeze. He had faced gods before, yet even using that as a comparison felt like an understatement. The boyâs eyes belonged to someone far older than his teenage form implied, and they radiated power. Inevitability.
When the teenâno, the entityâspoke again, his words carried an unearthly echo. âPerhaps, but Iâm not acting for just myself.â He paused, glanced down at the Joker, then asked almost conversationally, âDo you know how many people heâs killed?â
Another pause, but before Bruce could even try to answer, the entity continued, âEight hundred and fifty-six. Heâs ended the lives of eight hundred and fifty-six human souls. I can tell you about every single one, if you want. About who they were, what their dreams were before he killed them. About the pain they felt at his hands.â
He punctuated the word âpainâ by raising up the wooden bat in his hands and ramming its end down onto the Jokerâs arm. He let out a wheeze, muffled by the gag in his mouth.
âI have a duty to my people. I am the King of the In-Between and of all the souls that pass through itâeven ones whose stays were as brief as his. I am the rightful arbiter of his fate. And with that power, I sentence him to death.â
He raised the bat again, adjusting his grip so heâd hit with the side rather than the end this time, then paused and let out a chuckle. âOf course, just because itâs based on some justice doesnât mean I canât have a bit of fun with it too.â He swung the bat down, slamming it into the Jokerâs side, then hooked it under the clownâs torso and flicked him up through the air to slam into the wall. âWe all really hate this guy.â
With the entityâs attention fully turned away from him as he sauntered towards the Jokerâs slumped figure, Bruce could finally unfreeze himself.
Even if the Ghost King did have the right to pass judgement on Joker, Bruce still couldnât let torture go on like this. He wouldnât win a direct fight, but he could hopefully at least grab the Joker and bring him over to the police. Carefully, he reached for some of the smoke bombs and batarangs on his belt and readied his grapple. Heâd have to do this very, very fast.
But before he could move, another figure entered the scene. Red Hood, emerging from the shadows on the far side of the room, an unexpected bit of a pep to his step.
âNice to see someone else who gets that that bastard needs to die. But if I may make a suggestion, how âbout you use a crowbar instead of that old bat? Itâd be a bit more⌠fitting.â
#asks#prompt fill#btw about that kill count number - the dc wiki page on âJokerâs body countâ said two numbers 671+ and 185+ (for different continuities?)#so i just added those two together to get a plausible-ish âfeeling exact value for â671+â#danny fenton kills the joker#ghost king danny fenton#also i know Bruce is sorta the antagonist here but Iâm trying my best to present him fairly#a vigilante having a code against killing people is a good thing! right to fair trial is important!#yeah the Joker probably should be executed but I donât think Bruce is a bad person for not doing it himself#the legal system exists!! why are you asking the extrajudicial vigilante who specifically has a no-kill rule to do it??#i feel like Joker getting sentenced to death would be the âlogicalâ end to the situation; the Joker is gone and Batmanâs code is intact#(you know. were it âreal lifeâ and not a comic with the whole âweâre not gonna kill off someone that iconic!â thing)#and also him planning to step in against Danny isnât about âthe joker has to liveâ itâs about âtorture is wrongâ#heâs (cautiously) believing of the âlegal rightâ part so if they showed the legal sentence and executed him âcleanlyâ heâd be fine#(obviously he supports reforming criminals but in the Jokerâs case I think heâd accept a fair trial saying âdeathâ as okay)#or in other words Batman isnât pro-life; heâs pro-choice(-by-the-courts) (/hj)#dp x dc#dpxdc#dc x dp#dcxdp#danny phantom x dc#danny phantom x dc crossover#dpxdc the joker#dpxdc bruce wayne#dpxdc jason todd#also btw iâm sorry dannyâs words are so pretentious/OOC feeling (well. at least to me they are)#it feels awkward to me too but it felt kinda necessary to match the vibe of the original thing#maybe heâs sorta sharing his thoughts with some judicial-y ghosts or etc who are influencing it#i did specifically want to imply the victims are affecting him at least a little (echoey voice + â*we* hate himâ)#or maybe heâs just been King for a long while and has had time to get a bit more âkinglyâ

Was thinking about how even though ART threatened its life and terrified it the literal first time they met and even so ART is its best friend while gurathin is clearly cared about but will always get the label of âthe client that murderbot Doesnât Likeâ in a way that just feels different to me
And I genuinely donât remember but⌠did gurathin ever apologize to murderbot??
Not for being suspicious or careful or whatever, but the way ART did. Bc in their first interaction, ART apologized not for threatening it, but for scaring it
Acknowledging that it has feelings and that ARTâs actions had consequences that directly affected the wellbeing of murderbot and that murderbot had valid reasons for âsulkingâ or not wanting to engage with ART in that moment. Because ART scared it.
I think that waking up hurt and vulnerable and finding out that someone you didnât trust dug inside your mind and dragged out your biggest secrets that, if known, you are certain will directly lead to your death. Well. I just think that would be incredibly scary is all
#murderbot diaries#murderbot#the murderbot diaries#donât get me wrong I enjoy gurathin as a character#he and murderbot really are feral cats who did NOT get long enough sniffing each other under a door#and I respect guraâs suspicion bc damn. the group is so horribly trusting#and like. that could absolutely kill them#and sometimes u are okay with being the bad guy as long as the people you care about *live*#it does make me wonder if things would have gone very differently if theyâd met one on one#where gurathin didnât have anything to protect#the meeting with ART happened partially because ART didnât have its crew to protect after all#but it makes me wonder if ARTs crew were there. idk. I still think it would have apologized for scaring it#and art didnât apologize for the threat. bc art had to keep itself safe. but.#maybe it would have chosen a different way#idk#thinking a lot about that apology rn#has anyone ever apologized to murderbot before? not for like. a decision. but for the way it impacted murderbot specifically#gurathin is scared too but like. not by murderbot?#Gurathin is scared of things he thinks might happen or what murderbot might do#while murderbot is scared by something Gurathin did to it while it was vulnerable#like until that point murderbots actions had all been to try and keep its clients alive and its secret intact to keep itself alive#and even then when it came to its life and the crew? it chose theirs#and the repayment was an incredible violation of its privacy and more suspicion
