i think rochas might be support? the reason that the infection isn't getting worse is because by the advice of the internet(aka searching things up), he downloaded a antivirus and that ended up being incorporated into his avatar when he got dragged down into forsaken. so yippee!!

Ugh! I love how so unapologetically punk this film. Obviously, there's Hobie with his battle jacket and electric guitar, and his whole Vibe™ immediately comes to mind, but the subgroups of punk are so deeply entrenched throughout the entire movie.

Like Hobie's style, in particular, reminds me so much of how British punk fashion is accumulating old, worn, even ugly pieces of clothing and turning it into something cool. It's thrift stores. It's hand-me-downs. It's customisations. It's momentos from friends. Maybe even piercings done by friends. It's about taking things from different places and making them your own - which is exactly how Hobie ends up making the dimension travel watch. Another thing is Hobie's blue laces, which I've been told is punk-code for having killed a police officer. We as audience members can go back and forth on whether ATSV is a copaganda film or has its themes, but I believe that tiny detail about Hobie is huge for a film distributed from a country that often values authoritative institutions more than it citizens.

Gwen is implicitly trans and shaves half her head, which is, from my understanding, HUGE for trans women who experience gender dysphoria. A lot of Gwen's fashion and prom dress especially reminds me of Hayley Williams in the late 2000s-early 2010s. It's very experimental, which I feel matches her age and uncertainty about being Spiderwoman, her dad, and Peter's death.

There's also a lot of concept art for Gwen's hair where her side-cut becomes an undercut and she wears it in a pony tail or bun and I just think they're so cool - D especially.

Miles G Morales' design is so heavily inspired by alternative goth fashion and techwear - a mix of combat attire and hip-hop streetwear. It's loose yet slick with it's own customisations in the crown-cut collar and the spray-paint insignia, and incorporates high-advanced technology in the mask.

It's futuristic. A what-could-be. And specifically what Miles could've been if he wasn't bit by the spider. Another cool thing, I don't know if this is related but worth pointing out, is that Prowler wears a modified (leather, bomber, varsity??) jacket. That's kinda crazy for an superhero/anti-hero suit if you think about it. Most of the time you'll see Marvel or DC characters running around in a spandex suit or (for women) almost nothing at all. But like Hobie we see how Miles G styles himself even when he's disguised. Like I wouldn't be surprised if his outfit change was just turning the jacket inside out like a sukajan jacket.

ATSV has so many characters with the own specific styles and it's really nice to see where most franchises are all or nothing when it comes to character design aesthetics.

I have such back and forth about the Joker as a character.

Because on the one hand:

He’s a queer icon. He slays, he was 100% queer coded. And it’s something that is kinda inspiring. Being so centered in yourself the whole world could burn because you literally couldn’t care less.

But on the other hand:

He is a violent criminal who hurt people not because it’s enjoyable to him, or even because he has a plan. He simply does it because it’s funny. Or, depending on the adaptation: Because he doesn’t see others as real. Except Batman. So he plays his game again and again to make Batman choose. He keeps stocking the trolley. If Batman moves the switch, the Joker dies. But if he doesn’t, hundreds of innocents die.

Of course, even if Batman did move the switch, Joker would jump out of the way. And Batman will choose to try and grab as many innocents as possible before the train hits.

And then I realized:

That’s the point. Isn’t it. What the authors thought about queer people. They made the queerest character the most irredeemable. It is the out and proud and centered sense of self that is the reason he’s a monster.

That’s why Batman is the hero. He fits in effortlessly with society as both big scary Batman and society elite Brucie Wayne. Flawlessly fitting in like it’s what makes him the good guy.

This is all to say:

I will never like the writers of Batman, for the reason that their biggest bad, the greatest terror and fear; is based off a group of people who are regularly abused and killed for being who they are.

There is no if’s, and’s or but’s: they don’t like queer people. And wanted to write one in such a way no one would bat an eye when he ‘gets what coming’ and is beaten into the ground.

Maybe the reason I like the old irredeemable monsters so much: is because they were based off of effeminate men who were bright colors, and strong women who don’t let men choose their lives, or people that you can’t even tell because they are ‘weird’.

Maybe in a time when the media is spinning so much hate and false news about Trans people, painting them as irredeemable monsters, monsters who can never be forgiven and allowed to remain in society. People who shouldn’t exist…

When it creeps into my own mind and ears… when I’m waiting for the shoe to drop that will do me in… when I avoid healthcare so I won’t be outed and have my life torn apart…

Then I kin with the Joker, who was created under a similar belief system. And I sympathize with how he is continually written: to be the constant unlikable threat against ‘normal’ people, who must be repeatedly pushed down and locked up along with everyone who follows him. Who he will also kill because he is a monster.

A monster who looks like the people I care about most.

And acts like the people I care about most. Who talks and walks like them. Who is made to resemble them.

Because that’s how he was written.

Weasel sighed as he walked, checking his phone in frustration. He’d lost track of where Ladybug was, and was walking aimlessly down the Train car walkway in hopes of seeing Ladybug. Due to him looking down at his phone, he hadn’t noticed Tangerine standing up from his seat, causing him to bump into the man. ”Fuckin’ Hell, man. Can you watch where you’re goin’?” The man’s British accent was heavy with frustration, Mustache curling down in dissatisfaction.

“Oh, shit, sorry man. I wasn’t looking.” Weasel muttered, face at chest height. His eyes slowly traveled up, settling on Tangerine’s face. His breath hitched and caught in his throat as his eyes settled on Tangerine’s deep blue ones. “Really, it was an accident. I apologize, Sir.” He hoped his voice hadn't stuttered. Was it getting hot in here or was he imagining things?

Tangerine raised a brow at the ‘sir’, giving the other man a once-over before shrugging “’S alright, love. Just pay attention next time, yeah?” the taller man pursed his lips, gently moving weasel out of the way by a hand on his shoulder. It was large, and warm, making him shiver softly. He closed his eyes as he got a whiff of Tangerine’s cologne. It was earthy, musky and calming. The nickname 'love', although said casually, made his stomach flutter.

Straightening his jacket out before shaking his head, Weasel watched Lemon get up and give him a knowing look. He rolled his eyes and went back to finding Ladybug, focusing on the mission, though there was always a thought in the back of his mind.

Who were they? why were they dressed so well on a train?

He’d later found Ladybug in the 1st class lounge, shoving glass shards with his jacket into a trash can “What the fuck are you doing?” his brows furrowed as he saw the blonde crouched on the floor, shoving the glass shards into the trash along with his trench-coat. “Oh, Hi! i’m just.. um.” the blonde’s eyes nervously flicked over to The Wolf’s corpse sitting on a lounge chair before going back to weasel.

“..it was an accident?”

“Oh my god. What did you do?” Weasel asked, his brows furrowed. He glanced over at The Wolf, his eyes narrowing as he approached the lifeless body haphazardly covered with a blanket to make it look like he was sleeping. He pressed to fingers against the pulse point. “You killed him. Seriously?! Already?” His voice was a hushed whisper, his hands coming out in a frustrated flail.

“Look, i didn't mean to.” Ladybug defended weakly holding a finger up before pulling his bucket hat onto his head after brushing it off. “Accident my ass. How do you ‘accidentally’ kill someone?” Weasel asked, raising a skeptical brow as he put both his hands on his hips. “It just.. Kinda happened.” Ladybug muttered, shrugging.

Weasel rolled his eyes with a sigh, helping Ladybug fix his appearance. “You got the briefcase?” He looked at Ladybug with an unimpressed look. “Yeah, Stashed it in the Trash can.” Ladybug replied, fixing his glasses and hissing at a cut on the bridge of his nose he'd accidentally bumped.

Weasel stopped in his tracks, staring blankly at Ladybug. “Trash can? Really? That’s what you went with?” Ladybug shrugged with a small nod “Yeah. Why?” Weasel shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You’re a lost cause.” “You know, that really hurts my feelings” Ladybug complained. “Oh, shut up.” Weasel muttered, giving a playful shove to Ladybug’s shoulder.

Weasel sighed as he got up, shaking his jacket out to get rid of the glass shards in it. “You’re an idiot, Ladybug.” He huffed, fixing his hair as he looked back at Ladybug who was fixing himself up as well. Both were slightly bruised and bloody after fighting the tangerine.

“Simple snatch and grab my ass. I’m never covering for carver again.” He grumbled as he pulled his gun out, switching the empty magazine for a full one. “Yeah, me neither.” Ladybug muttered, walking behind Weasel. “I never liked him anyway. Too egotistical.” He added, and weasel gave an acknowledging hum.

Weasel walked through the now empty train cars with Ladybug in tow, a determined stride in his step as he looked around at all the empty seats, brows furrowed. “Why are all the seats empty?” his voice was a hushed whisper. He had grabbed Lemon’s gun from where ladybug had hidden it behind the suitcases and put it back together, now one gun in his hand and the other stuffed into the back of his pants. Ladybug still refused to use a gun, which Weasel found plain stupid, but it was his death wish. Still, he kept the gun with him just in case.

Ladybug pushed in front of Weasel, walking into the Momonga train car. The Prince yelled for help as Tangerine had his gun pointed at her, and of course, Ladybug, as heroic and obnoxious as he is, jumped in to try to wrestle the gun out of Tangerine’s grip.

Weasel immediately moved to grab the gun too, pulling Ladybug away from Tangerine, or at least trying to. “LET GO YOU IDIOT!” Weasel yelled, kicking Ladybug’s shin to distract him. In that moment they all stumbled backward and the gun fired. Ladybug and Weasel fell backward while Tangerine stumbled against the wall behind him. “FUCK! YOU FUCKING BELLEND!” he yelled, grabbing his neck.

Weasel looked to Ladybug, noticing he hadn’t been shot. He quickly pushed Ladybug out of his way, coming to kneel down next to Tangerine who was pressing his hand to his neck. “WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! SHE’S THE FUCKIN’ DIESEL!” Tangerine yelled angrily, a hand clutched over a now bloody part of his shirt in the crook of his neck.

The prince shook her head, crying and muttering “No, No! I-i don’t even know what a diesel is! Please, you've got to believe me!” she begged while tears ran down her cheeks, but Weasel pointed his gun at her, cocking the hammer as he glared at her. “Shut the fuck up before i put a bullet between your eyes!” He threatened, one hand clutched over tangerine's where he got shot. She yelped in surprise, turning and running further down the train.

”Go deal with her!” Weasel demanded, gesturing with the gun toward where she ran off and Ladybug ran after her. He sighed, kneeling next to Tangerine. “You’re okay. Just your shoulder, nothing serious.” He comforted soothingly, and Tangerine grunted, eyes squeezed shut in pain. “Thanks. Very reassuring.” came a sarcastic mumble. Weasel rolled his eyes giving him an annoyed look. “Do you want me to help or not?” Tangerine just grunted in reply. Weasel leaned over to grab the first aid kit off the wall. “who even are you anyway?” Tangerine asked, raising a brow up at the other man.

”I work with ladybug. The name's Weasel.” He ripped open the first aid kit, gently pulling Tangerine’s hand off the wound, who protested at first, "I'd say nice to meet you, but, you know..” he trailed off, sighing “why are you helpin’ me? We're rivals.” weasel rolled his eyes at that. “Because we're fucked anyway and if the white death is really gonna come for us i’ll take all the help i can get.” Tangerine raised a brow, sighing and letting his hand fall. “i s'pose that makes sense.” “thank you.”

Weasel worked on bandaging up the brit's wound, said brit let his hands rest in his lap, deciding on switching out the empty bullets of his revolver for new ones to keep his hands busy. Weasel unbuttoned Tangerine’s shirt carefully, glancing at the exposed bit of chest briefly before he cleaned the wound best he could, bandaging it so he wouldn’t bleed out. Luckily the bullet only strafed his neck and didn't hit any important veins. “The bullet strafed you. You’re gonna be fine.” He reassured, smiling with a squeeze to tangerine's shoulder. “you were pretty lucky, you know.” that earned another scoff from him, baby blues focusing on weasel's face. “Luck my ass. It's all thanks to you.”

“Where’s your necklace?” he asked, noticing that it was gone. “My brother.. he..“ Tangerine trailed off, averting his gaze, a sad look in them. “he got shot. So i gave ‘im my necklace. Sentimental shit, Y’know?” He muttered with a sad chuckle, wiping his eyes. “I’m sorry to hear that. That sucks.” He whispered, sighing. “Yeah. It does.” A short, bitter reply from tangerine and a sniffle followed.

“Do you want me to..?” Weasel trailed off, gesturing to tangerine's face, asking to clean the wounds there too but wasn't sure if he was comfortable with that.

Tangerine shrugged softly, looking up at Weasel with a frown that pulled his Mustache down with it. It was kind of cute, really. “name's Tangerine, by the way.” He muttered hesitantly. Weasel smiled, holding the man's chin as he cleaned the cut on his forehead.

“Tangerine? Like the fruit?” The man's frown deepened. “Yeah like the fuckin' fruit. Why does everyone ask that?” The annoyance was clear in his tone, which earned a snicker from weasel. “Not everyday someone nicknames themselves after a fruit.”

He was careful when cleaning the wounds on tangerine's face, making sure he wouldn't hurt him any more than he already was. They made brief eye contact here and there, the tension obvious. Tangerines deep blue eyes were captivating, and his lashes were so pretty, long and curled perfectly.

When he was done patching him up, he helped him up, smiling. “Fuck the briefcase. I think we should work together so we can make it out of here.” Tangerine gave a tight nod at that, squeezing Weasel’s hand. “Yeah, fuck that damn briefcase,” He mumbled with disdain in his voice.

They sat in the Momonga part of the train, drinking water, eating some granola bars they'd found and gathering all the weapons they could find.

As Shigeru and Ladybug walked through that part of the train they were in, both Tangerine and Weasel watched them in confusion as they stopped at a toilet in the way between the train carts. “Thats the one my brother is in.” Tangerine muttered, brows screwed tightly together before getting up with Haste and walking toward both of them. “Hey! Dickhead!” He exclaimed, and Weasel got up to stop Tangerine. “Wait-”

Shigeru didn’t even pay attention to them, and ladybug sighed as he saw tangerine approaching him with a pissed look on his face. “Dude, look, let's not fight right now.” He tried to reason, but tangerine stopped dead in his tracks when Lemon sat there, looking around in confusion. “Tangerine!” Lemon exclaimed happily, getting up and pushing through both men to get to his brother. Tangerine’s eyes shot open, looking up at the other. “Lemon?! You’re alive, you fuckin’ wanker?” He asked loudly, smiling as he grabbed Lemon's shoulders. “You did wear the vest!” Tangerine exclaimed, eyes watering. “And you got shot in the neck!” Lemon pointed out. Tangerine shook his head as he pulled his brother in for a hug. “Come here you fuckin’ dickhead.” he whispered, sighing into the hug. “You scared the shit outta me. I thought i’d lost ya.” He sighed, cupping his brothers cheek as he looked up at him. “Nah, You know you ain’t gettin’ rid of me that easily.” Lemon replied with a bright grin of his own.

Weasel smiled at the two, holding lemon’s gun out to him. “I think this might be yours.” “My gun! Where’d you find that?” Lemon asked happily, taking it and kissing the barrel. “Oh, it’s my favorite. Missed ya, beautiful.” He muttered to the gun before looking at Weasel again. “Thank you.” “It’s no problem. See it as a peace offering” Weasel smiled, rolling his shoulders. “Offering accepted” lemon had a playful grin on his face.

“Now, we have to get ready to fuck ‘em up.” Lemon and Tangerine gave sharp nods at that, and all 6 of them prepared to kill the White Death and his goons.

Weasel slowly came to, sighing as his head pounded. He Squinted at the bright lights, the ringing in his ears slowly fading into flowing water and the crackling of electric wires. The last he remembered was fighting the white death's men, and holding onto a wall while the train cars pummeled down a hill.

He stumbled outside, head pounding as he leaned against the door frame of the train car. He could feel a warm wetness on the side of his face, and his side hurt. Everything was a mess; train cars crashed into the side of Japanese houses, messing up the street and the broken train cars laying strewn around. His eyes narrowed at the bright lights of the morning sun, and he clutched his side where he was sure he was at least bruised, if not worse.

”Where are the twins?” He asked Ladybug after the mess with the White Death happened. Ladybug shrugged. “Dunno. Haven’t seen them since they jumped out the train together.” Weasel’s eyes shot open. “They WHAT?” he exclaimed, shocked.

He groaned, holding his head as it pounded. He struggled to focus over the pain. He finally looked back up when the prince started yelling nonsense, and he rolled his eyes with a groan. “Can this bitch be any more dramatic?”

A shocked laugh escaped weasel's lips as a tangerine truck hit The Prince, killing her. His eyes shot open, looking around. As the truck stopped, Lemon jumped out, Laughing loudly. “THAT’S WHAT YOU GET! FUCKIN’ DIESEL, MAN!” He exclaimed, laughing at her corpse. Tangerine stumbled out as well, and they both were soaked to the bone, hair clinging to tangerine's forehead and shirt slightly see-through.

Weasel stared at them, smiling, his shoulders sagging in relief as he saw them alive. He threw his head back, laughs bubbling up in his throat at the sheer absurdity of the situation.

He stumbled his way through the debris - albeit very clumsily and sluggishly. He moved to stand in front of Tangerine, grinning. “Good work” he held his free hand out for a shake, and Tangerine rolled his eyes shaking it. “you guys weren't as useless as I thought.” He teased, and weasel scoffed, shoving tangerine's shoulder playfully.

“We make a good team.” Weasel smiled, taking a business card out of the back pocket of his pants, holding it out to Tangerine. “call me sometime.”

Tangerine glanced at the card, then weasel and reluctantly took it. “Yeah. Maybe i will.”

Weasel nodded, satisfied with that answer as he watched them walk off down the street.

After finally introducing Ni'onthe's crew one by one, let me finally formally introduce you to Blauauge (=“blue eye”) who's giving me brainrot for over a year now💙⚓

Blauauge is a tiefling barbarian and the third mate of the Soft Seaside, the ship that Ni'onthe sailed with for two years prior to the main campaign. I created him and the whole crew way back in 2021 when I wrote Ni’onthe’s backstory (more about Ni'onthe's crew here).

I’ve always planned for him to be my back-up character, should she ever die (that hopefully never happens lol). For now, he is a NPC in my mini-campaign called "Stille und Sturm" (which is just my modified self-indulgent version of "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle"). There, the party travels with the Ni'onthe's crew to solve problems on her home island

He seems like an angry, tough guy on the outside who gets irritated very quickly and often fights in taverns, but on the inside, he is a really insecure and overcompensates a lot. He's just a good and soft boy who genuinely cares about his loved ones but has problems showing and receiving affection 👀 (A lot of my fave characters are angry tsundere b*tch boys who are actually super soft and insecure and he is no exception, he is a big tsundere 💙) He is extremely loyal towards his captain and crew and takes his duties very seriously. He and Ni’onthe were really good friends.

Blauauge likes drinking and fishing, he swears a lot and is liked by animals. He hates nobility and rich people. He believes that a good brawl is the best way to get to know a new city and become closer with someone. His choice of weapons are his fists and an anchor.

His name “Blauauge” which translates to “blue eye” is a german pun because he often has a black eye because of all the tavern brawls (black eye also translates into “blue eye” in german). But it's also a reference to his very bright blue eyes.

(I changed his design quite a lot so please keep in mind when I post some of my older art! Also, I still have a lot to learn about drawing trans anatomy so if you see anything depicted wrong in my newer art, please dm me so I can learn!)

Old Design and Concept

As a big ass Fire Emblem Fan, I really liked the idea of a duo of two color-coded ship officers who are the complete opposite of each other, just like the iconic red-green knight-duos in FE.

Since sailors in media often have unique nicknames that are related to them, I also wanted to give them funny names that are very similar to each other to to immediately tell that they belong together. And that's how Blauauge (german for "blue eye") and Rotauge (german for "red eye") came to be!

Rotauge and Blauauge are complete opposites but get along very well…veeeeeery well 👀 Rotauge is a safe space for Blauauge where he can calm down and Rotauge likes Blauauge's company a lot.

Blauauge's design changed quite a bit since 2024 (2021, 2023, early 2024)

I still like the old design a lot, especially I already received so much art for it already and the yellow top scars were kinda iconic LMAO But I always felt like his old design didn’t show off his sailor background enough.

FUN FACT: “Blauauge” is the german term for blue-eyes, a specific kind of fishes with very bright blue eyes! I didn’t know about them when I created him, so after finishing his design, I was REALLY surprised to learn about them and coincidentally used a similar color palette sdlfkjsdlfkj

Backstory

Blauauge was born and raised on the streets of Neverwinter until Captain Sheryl took him to SoftSeaside at the age of 10. Sheryl noticed him because of his striking blue eyes and his defiant nature. When they met, he had a black eye (in german = blue eye) and gave him the nickname "Blauauge" ("blue eye" in german), which he eventually chose as his own when he transitioned. On the ship he learned to read, write and live the life of the sea. Before she took him in, he barely spoke and tried to survive by making a living by participating in underground fights. As a tiefling, he experienced a lot of racism (especially by nobility and rich people) when he was younger and even though, society changed a lot since the scars still remain. He's also feeling very disconnected to his heritage since he didn't have any contact with other tieflings. (because in this household we project our trauma on our OCs ✨)

Blauauge has been sailing on the ship for 16 years since he was 10 years old and with passing years, more people joined the crew permanently. He will never admit it but he loves them all very dearly and would do anything to protect them. Blauauge became the third mate of the ship, a role he holds with a lot of pride and he takes his duties very seriously. (While he was trying to survive on the streets, he really didn't have the headspace to think about gender (lmao) but after being adopted, he finally had a safe space to figure stuff out and his crew was really supportive during his transition for which he is extremely thankful for.)

And then, one day, a optimistic fish-looking goofball called Ni'onthe joined the crew, hehe ✨ In the beginning, he found her pretty annoying but her positive personality was really refreshing and he saw a lot of similarities (blue and yellow, trans, athelete, soft and caring) Since he is four years older than her, Ni'onthe kinda became a little sister for them. He and Ni’onthe were really good friends and was protective other her, taking her out for meals, showing her how to sail and checking on her (she really missed her parents in the beginning).

And even though, they had a lot of fun and a great time, Ni'onthe decided to leave to gain more experience and awaken her Ki. Blauauge was ✨ distraught ✨ by that and he really misses her a lot. This really got him thinking and since then, even though he loves his crew, he craves for adventures and wonders if he isn't missing something if he stays on the ship…But he is also scared to leave his loved ones behind, scared that he will not return or worse…to return and realize that he doesn't belong anymore.

Right now, he is an NPC in the mini-campaign that I'm dming right now (It's a modified self-indulgent OC version of StormWreck Isle, lol).

Quick campaign summary

As for now, during my campaign, while the party is solving the problems on the island, Blauauge does through his own fucking character arc while helping out in the village. Loyalty towards his crew and fear of leaving his home vs. the call for adventures and being very jealous that the party is fighting some monsters LMAO

However, Blauauge is currently being falsely accused of theft and banned from the temple because the party's rogue Nería (played by @/allbutnotthis) broke into the room of the grand master of the Order of Eldath to find a item. However, she got caught by Blauauge before she was able to lock the door. She gatekept, gaslighted, girlbossed her way out of this situation by using his weaknesses (aka his loyalty and softness towards his crew) against him. Blauauge believed her and promised to not snitch on her because she helped to save the ship from sinking earlier in the campaign. However, because Nería is such a good liar and Blauauge is a really bad liar, the grand master believes that Blauauge attempted to steal something and banned him from the temple temporarely until he is proven innocent or proves that he is trustworthy after all.

Wei Wuxian-The Untamed / Mo Dao Zu Shi

Qualifications:

Goes through a somewhat unethical organ transplant (in that the person he is giving the organ to doesn't realize that's what's going on) where he gives up his "golden core." This is like his center of power and by giving it up, not only is he not able to do most of the more "magic" things he could do before, but he's also noticeably physically weaker and gets injured much more easily (and takes longer to recover) as well as faints more often (iirc he only faints once pre-golden core removal and that was after sustaining major injuries and going on for a significant time without any healing while also fighting and traveling). Like he finds ways around it and invents new methods so that he can still do some things that he did before, just via a very different method. In the show we don't really see any characters who aren't cultivators, or at least part of that world, so Wei Wuxian is like the only character we really get to see without a golden core.

Also gotta say that this boy is severely depressed. Like "I'm-going-to-ask-my-doctor-friend-to-perform-a-mutliple-day-long-surgery-on-myself-in-which-I-will-be-awake-where-she'll-rip-out-the-core-of-my-being-and-transplant-it-into-my-adopted-brother-who-I'll-make-sure-never-finds-out-what-happened-even-though-he'll-come-to-hate-me" depressed. he has no value for his own life other than what he can give to others, even if it's his own body. like I think some fans unfairly classify him as being insane when he's really just depressed as all hell and having the worst possible things happen to him one after another and every time he breaks down it causes more trouble and usually people end up dying because of him.

Btw this is a joke (well sort of) so don’t take any of my stereotype arguments too seriously. Although I do genuinely think most of these characters are gay.

Look, ok, when you're autistic it's fuckin hard to A) be able to read the situation completely (LWJ notices smth is up but doesn't know WHAT it is) and B) reach out about whatever is up. LWJ also doesn't want to cause his husband any unnecessary anxiety by making him feel like he HAS to answer.

Note 6: 'WWX starts wishing he'd been born female' - This could tie into being genderfluid. Originally it was meant as wanting to be able to bear children, but he doesn't have the anatomy for it.

Note 7: Smth I feel very strongly about is WWX wanting to bear the child. It's not because he's the 'bottom' (where my top/switch WWX fans at?) but simply because it makes sense in my mind. He would be ok with his body being altered to bear children, he'd be ok with carrying those children. LWJ, on the other hand, would not. He would be dysphoric (whether trans OR cie) and it would be overstimulating and overall a horrible, likely traumatizing experience. I have read fics about LWJ getting pregnant, and they're written really well and I love them, however, I likely won't write that. Maybe a breeding kink, but even that doesn't seem as in character for him? Who knows.

Note 8: Really want to highlight life and death as an infinite figure 8 loop. Literally one of my favorite things to think about.

Note 9: LWJ has based his entire life around this man. Of course he wants another kid, and no, it's not just to please him. A-Yuan was wonderful to raise, and while he's absolutely terrified of raising a child *from birth*, because that's different, he wants to experience it. (I also imagine that they stay in Gusu from the time they conceive the child to the time WWX heals from childbirth. So they're really not the only ones raising said child, which means that when they need a break, plenty of people are willing. Especially the older mothers whose children have grown up and flown the coop ✊️😔)

Note 11: While several people are fairly supportive and just happy to see life born of something so dark, born of a tragic past, there are many people who will make life harder for WWX and LWJ and their kid because 'it's unnatural' and 'it's a demon child' and so on and so forth.

Note 12: LXC is so happy for his little brother...after the initial 'wtf' moment.

Note 13: LSZ gets told when people start noticing that WWX has started putting on some weight, but they kinda just wave it off as him getting spoiled by his husband. Anywho. LSZ is quite happy for them!!! He doesn't feel he's being replaced at all, AND HES GONNA HAVE A LITTLE SIBLING?!?!?!? He's gonna have someone he can tell alllllll about his stories with WWX and LWJ!!!! He's ecstatic XD

Note 14: I want to point out that it has been several years since the JGY incident, during which WWX has started rebuilding his bond with JC (with both of them putting aside pride and hatred and deep, deep tragedy to. *See* each other. Really see each other. To remember who they once were, to acknowledge they've changed vastly, and to accept that fact and adapt to it.) It's not easy, they get in fights, they often make each other cry. But they've slowly started repairing the bond. And so WWX goes to JC about his kid and he's nervous and JC is kinda weirded out at first + loathes the idea of using demonic cultivation for a child until WWX explains how it works. At which point he sees...potential in it. It could help a lot of people who want biological children but can't have them. Anywho. Look, he may still not have a great bond with WWX but he does have a soft spot in his heart for his family's children. He does want to be in this kid's life. (And he definitely wants to teach the kid ACTUAL GOOD MORALS! LIKE STAY AWAY FROM DEMONIC CULTIVATION EVEN THOUGH YOUR DAD DOES IT, UNDERSTAND?!)

How did you figure out you were genderfluid I questioning my gender I didn't know if you had any advice on how to figure it out?

I am so sorry for the slow response. I wanted to take a day or two to figure out the best way to answer. I just spent two hours writing out a really long and thorough answer about my experiences and all the advice I could think of and then my page bugged or something while I was typing and I lost it all x.x Its 3am, and this is nowhere near as well written as I was trying :'(

I guess the super short of it, and sorry this is going to be super scatterbrained now:

I never cared how I looked, never felt comfortable in my own skin, and just dressed very messily - overly large t-shirts, hoodies, and never shorts because I never wanted to acknowledge my legs. I started growing out my hair during lockdown. I'd been trying to grow it out for years but it had to be kept short first because of very strict school dress code rules, and second for practical reasons for work. Having long hair, making a change to my appearance like that, caused to me to start to like how I looked and start to care about it more.

One thing that made me introspect on my gender was when I found audio roleplays. I'd discovered I was bi around the same time, and after finding F4M stuff I also gave M4F a go. I'd questioned things before, but finding that 4F audios would often feel fine and not uncomfortable like I was expecting, really got me thinking more about it.

I'd have called myself like a guy, but stronger words like "man" always made me uncomfortable. I think I'm pretty gender neutral most of the time, but there are definitely times where I feel I associate more with one gender or another. I never felt all that "manly" all my life, and people would just sum that up as like "he's just more sensitive," which didn't help. The times your gender more closely matches how you were raised can start to raise those doubts at the back of your mind, like "am I wrong? Am I faking it?" etc, and those really aren't helpful! Those thoughts started going away whenever I didn't feel masc at all, I held on to knowing that feeling and that it changes.

I started to cared about how I looked and try different things based on what I saw people/characters wearing that I wanted to try. I bought myself some skirts & thigh-highs, and also uh chest padding x.x, and honestly I felt great! For the first time in my life, the person in the mirror was someone I cared about. But it was only some of the time, sometimes the thought of wearing those made me uncomfortable, and I'd go back to jeans and feel much better.

I think for myself, my gender orbits around androgynous (maybe leaning slightly towards the fem side). I realise I've always felt very androgynous, but that it does change one way or another every now and then. There are times I definitely feel more boy-ish, and others like;

There was this one time, I'd felt either very neutral or kinda masc for maybe a week. But then I passed the hall mirror and - it felt like my whole body slammed into a wall, just WHAM! Suddenly F mode! It occasionally happens, and sometimes in reverse, or sometimes for feels very neutral, but this one time the feeling was surprisingly strong from the sudden change XD

I think all I can recommend is to ask yourself how you feel about it; gender is different from any person to person, we have labels for some common experiences, but those experiences are still personal, still going to vary, the only person who can make that determination either way is you. And it may change! Some days I wonder seriously if I may be trans, if that would be more who I am, but then other days I distinctly relate more to being a little more masc. So right now I don't feel that that's me, but I do now have an idea of who I think I am, and some changes I want to make to myself and what I wear to reflect that. But also my experience of being pretty neutral most of the time may not match another genderfluid person!

Look at people or characters you see online that you think look or dress in a way you really like, and ask yourself how you'd feel looking like that, or wearing that? I started to ask myself, do I just find that attractive, or is this more like jealousy? XD If you play games with character customisation, what do you find yourself going for? And if you're in the position to try it, is there anything about how you look or dress you'd want to try changing? I think that's how you can really assess it; having facial hair a few years ago made me super uncomfortable and I swore off ever growing it again, but now having shaved arms & legs feels great, it completely clicks for how I feel about myself even when I'm in a more M mode. And even if my F mode clothes don't feel right to wear all the time, the times that they do, that I'm in the right mode for it, feels great, and I'm not sure I would have figured that out without trying it.

At the end of the day, maybe you are fluid, maybe you're not, and either way is totally fine! It's an ongoing process of figuring out who you are, don't rush it! And maybe however you land you might not want to put a label on it, that's also fine too! I have my own little genderfluid flag attached to my monitor & a few other things, and these are all there because it helped me early on in discovering these things about myself. It can feel weird and strange in asking these things, but after I found a label I felt applied to me, I liked having the flag there as a reminder to myself: this is okay. This is normal. There are other people like me. I've always felt different, that there was something else up, but my whole life it was just dismissed as, I guess I'm just weird. But now I have a name for it, I have a better understanding for what's going on in my head, and I have a flag to remind me it's okay to be the way I am. But you dont need to find a label, that's also up to you!

Like. Its misogynist its misandrist its transphobic theres a lot going on. The worst part is i unironically like the pink aesthetic with the sheep and hearts and the sensual poses cause its so dynamic and interesting and its like peak male gaze but. LET THE WOMEN HAVE THIS IDCCCC IF YOURE MISOGYNIST GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!! I've been doing redraws of some of the art w some fav male characters of mine simply cause i love it so much but enough gushing im here to be a hater at (checks watch) 4 am in the morning.

I think Catherine couldve been a super interesting introspective on gender and sexuality, for example rin opening vincents eyes to his bisexuality or erica and tobys relationship, but it fails so miserably it PMO. The whole point of the story was like "live the way you want!" But then if youre trans theyre like go fuck yourself. Thats HORRIBLE. id take a plotline where toby learns to be more sensitive to ericas struggles and accepts her after she comes out and deals with the backlash he gets because he fucking loves her wholeheartedly over. Whatever we got any day. In the end him backing out feels like hes the one giving into societal pressure, completely overturning what Catherine as a game was trying to say in the first place. By having Erica not tell him before they got serious, i feel like the narrative almost tries to like. Frame her in a very, very bad way. But what does this game care abt shit like consent 🙄 considering catherine is still a viable romance option when she's downright abusive. SERIOUSLY I HATE ITTT I HATE HOW MUCH I LOVE HER DESIGN BUT SHES SO FUCKED. i dont mind like. Messy women or problematic women but its just so disrespectful how much her actions get played off as just "womens wrath". And then they have the audacity to victimblame vincent. By not having vincent purposefully do what he does and instead making him well. Be subjected to all of that, it takes his agency and shoots the message down in the first place. It takes accountability from him and takes the intrigue away from the story about characters who have flaws, cause that wasnt a big mistake he did. THAT QAS SOMEONE ELSE MESSING WITH HIM.

I also think the stuff around Katherine was. Kind of handled poorly. Like she gen thought she was pregnant at first but then lies and *then* comes clean so ig its okay in the end. But again these flaws almost seem to make her seem predatory rather than. Well. Flawed. Like they aren't giving the desired affect.

I don't think Catherine deals with character flaws in a nuanced way that contributes to the main point it tries to tell. Why doesn't Erica disclose her status to Toby or why Katherine lies to Vincent. Both were rooted in very real fears of being hurt or abandoned and while the latter does recieve some attention, these issues aren't addressed in a way that feels relatable or meaningful. LIKE SERIOUSLY I THINK ERICA WAS SUCH AN UNDERUTILIZED CHARACTER... FYM SHE WENT MISSING FOR A FEW YEARS AND PEOPLE THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD BUT IT TURNS OUT SHE WAS JUST RECOVERING FROM A BREAKUP... WHAT HAPPENED... i love her so much and she was done so dirty.

I think Catherine relies too heavily on cliches and stereotypes so the story doesn't feel as original as it should be . Like if you're gonna use cliches at least try to break them and not tout them as a universal truth.

Also... ironically, some of the endings where Vincent goes off on his own and lives his live w/o relationships happily, is it just me or are those endings kinda aspec (was specifically thinking aromantic though) coded. Not saying allo people can't not want relationships, but to a lot of people that would be considering a queer way of living right? Not fitting into societys expectations of how one should live their lives.

I think Catherine's bare bones message of "dont follow the sheep, live for yourself" is a theme seen in queer media a lot and something that can resonate w queer audiences, even if its really basic it can still mean a lot when done right. I personally find comfort with that theme because of the pressures of settling down with a cishet man and having children, that isnt what i want, so i could kind of understand vincent. But by only reserving this mercy to well. A cishet man. Cishet people in general, it feels incredibly ingenuine. Live freely! But only in the way we deem acceptable.

I also think some flexibility with vincents character would add nuance to the story. After all, is he bisexual in the katherine and catherine routes? Labels are very flexible and everyone has the right to call themselves however they want, so its hard to say. Maybe he'd never accept himself or maybe hed never have a reason to find out if he liked men. So like same with being aspec. In another route maybe he is aspec. Essentially flexible storytelling that can let the player submerge themselves into the narrative more intimately.

Please let me know what you guys think! This game drives me crazy with how much it couldve been but inevitably falls flat in everything.
