that would have haunted him, i think. disrupted something deep down. even though he would have a version of martyn, it's not him. it would fill a hole, sure, he would make sure that nothing would come between the two of them... but once the wildcard fades? he's gone again.

martren was a thing, sure, but would the thought of having martyn back... stir something? because whilst ren would have a part of martyn with him, surely the notion would change his approach: in some odd sense he wouldn't have been alone anymore. martyn would be safe with him, he would make sure of it.

It's a particularly dreary afternoon, one which saw Tommy wallowing on his couch with nothing but his self loathing to keep him company.

He hasn't heard from anyone in weeks, and hasn't been to work in just as long, thanks to the suspension he earned from stealing municipal equipment for a second time.

It's fine, really. He calls it his penance for not being able to do more, not being able to save them all, and for making the stupid decisions that knocked him out of their orbit in the first place.

Evan is the only one that's had the decency to check in, and even then, it had been sparse. Again...it's fine. Evan isn't the one he wants right now, anyway. What he needs is something best left worlds away from him, everything they once were, or might ever hope to be.

Five minutes after Sal walks through Tommy's front door, he's on his knees, giving Tommy the most lackluster blow job of his life. It gets him off, but just barely. He settles himself back on the couch, and Sal, the bastard, has the gall to try and look at least a little sorry. Before he even opens his mouth, Tommy has an inkling of what he's about to say, and he's pretty sure he won't like it. He usually doesn't.

“Hey, I am sorry about Nash, ya know. Bright side, one less mook in the LAFD.”

“You're a fucking asshole, Sal.”

“Isn't that why you called me instead of pretty boy Buckley?”

“I called you because I wanted to hate myself a little more than usual.”

what are the chances that we’re going to get double the senior Precure team appearances this year like what they did with WonPre’s movie last year?

if we do, we ought to eliminate the groups that have been recently featured within the main media (therefore, NOT counting any All Stars) so that those who haven’t had a cameo yet can get the chance to this time around:

Futari Wa - as the first child of this big magical girl family, they’re always going to be relevant for as long as the franchise is active but they don’t necessarily have to show up in this movie

Splash Star, Yes! 5 - both already got their spotlight in OtonaPre 2024 and Yes! 5 showed up in HealPre’s movie in 2021

Heartcatch - last appearance was in TroPre’s movie in 2021 so still fairly recent

MahoPre - just finished up Mirai Days this year and also showed up in WonPre movie 2024 and KiraPre movie 2017 so yea, we should take a break from them for a while

HiroPre - returned in 2024 WonPre movie

with those out of the way, let’s take a look at the groups that are over 10 years old at this point:

Fresh - I’m shocked that this season is getting no love at all from Toei these days outside promotions of the All Stars line. Though I think there are better choices than them, I still want Fresh to be brought back again sometime in the very near future. How can you ignore the season that literally rescued this entire franchise from being cancelled? Show the Fresh Cures some respect! 🗣️💢

Suite - Next to Fresh, Suite has also been very neglected in favor of other seasons but its music motif might just catapult them to the center stage since IdolPre deals with music (albeit, the pop genre) as well. Out of all the 10+ years seasons, Suite probably has the best chance to be featured…if Toei follows that logic.

Smile - They did share that 2023 virtual world event with Heartcatch and Yes! 5 but I wouldn’t count that as part of main media. But eh, there’s not much they have in common with IdolPre so another time, maybe.

DokiPre - Only one member is a literal idol so not sure if that’s enough to leverage them into a guest spot. Though I will admit, it’d be funny to have Mana’s terrible singing for the humor…but nah. Also, didn’t they just release a light novel sequel earlier this year? Not fully main media either but at least this season got some attention compared to the rest who are still waiting to be brought down from the shelves.

HaCha - The other most likely candidate besides Suite since their super forms and super group attack are heavy on the idol imagery (singing + uniformed costumes). HaCha did have a fan meeting earlier this year as well to celebrate its own 10th anniversary so it wouldn’t surprise me if that gives them a boost up in the selection.

As for the seasons that are under 10 years old:

Go!Pri, KiraPre, Hugtto, StarPre, HealPre, TroPre, DeliParty

None of them are really a good match with IdolPre compared to Suite or HaCha.

However, I wouldn’t rule out WonPre showing up like HiroPre did on the virtue of it being the predecessor season.

So yea, my picks are those three: Suite, HaCha and WonPre.

We’ll see how close I am to hitting the mark in another two months or so?

A little mend here that I was pleasantly surprised worked, I fixed the fraying bits on my book-shaped wallet! Figured that red thread works quite well with the themes of War of the Worlds.

First up, we've got some simple stitches perpendicular to the edge of the wallet, think a blanket stitch but the thread doesn't run through the loop created. Honestly, there are probably more complex ways I could have stitched that vinyl "leather" back onto the fabric and cardboard of the book structure, but I figured these simple stitches would be faster, and work just fine.

Second, on a slightly larger tear on the "spine" corner, I did some randa stitching! This actually draws from a style of embroidery I'm almost completely unfamiliar with, most popular in Brazil, so I may be labeling it wrong. If you know better, let me know! I actually need to do similar rim-lining on the other three corners, as the adhesive is starting to come off, and that'll hold it still enough to solve the problem.

Also, some miscellaneous adventures in hemming patches properly! A process that proved MUCH simpler once I found my rolled hem foot. These two patches came out quite good, actually! straight stitching, for the most part, and relatively even folds.

It was much simpler to get the hems just so on a larger patch like this one, thankfully! I'm actually really pleased with the way this one in particular came out, and hopefully, I can make something pretty with it on the thigh of the jeans it goes with. (yes, that's why the patches are numbered, so I can keep track of where they go in the stack!)

Even despite how well things went overall with the patches, I still fumbled, got a bit hasty in trying to get the corner of one of the later patches through the machine. Said haste had me trying to shove shove, cram cram the fabric through the foot to get it hemmed, turns out, don't do that! Results in bending the needle on my machine! Oof!

Luckily, the machine came with some spare needles, so it only slowed me down a little bit!

"Mr. Guiseppe Greene?"

"Why hello there gentlemen, I am he."

"Hi Mr. Greene, I'm Daniel, this is Jake, and we're here to inspect the integrity of the health and saftey practiced here in your fine establishment."

Jake and Danny stand in front of Guiseppe Greene, local mob boss, alleged gnome and/or gnome collaborator, and owner of Guiseppe's Garden.

Mr. Greene stood in shock. "Health inspectors? We were inspected last week! My FDA rating is in the front window! This is outrageous sirs."

"Yeah, well tough shit Guiseppe, we've got a warrant," retorted Danny. He spent 4 hours overtime writing up the paperwork for the search warrant, and was in quite the sour mood.

Danny stomped behind the counter into the kitchen of Guiseppe's Garden, while Jake reassured Mr. Greene.

"Don't worry Mr. Greene, we'll be in and out, no sweat as l- Jesus fucking Christ!"

Danny had stomped back out of the kitchen with the decapitated head of a white stallion staked onto the sharpened end of a pizza paddle. The horse's head dripped bright green blood off of where it had been beheaded, and sticking out of its forehead, a horn not to dissimilar to that of a narwhal's, not to be confused with the improvised pizza-paddle-stake pierced through its lower jaw through to the top of its head.

"What in the Lord of the Flies fuck is that shit, Danny!"

"Illegal unicorn."

"Did you have to stake it?!"

"Yes, unicorn skin is covered in a thin coat of a highly potent psychedelic film. That's why they make excellent drugs." Danny asserted. "Allegedly." He quickly added.

Guiseppe simply stood, frozen while the two conversed about the ethics of modifying a pizza paddle into something that might impale a unicorn's head, allowing for the proper handling of an otherwise dangerous substance.

Danny cut off his bickering with Jake about impaled unicorns and turned his attention to the mortified mobster.

"So, Mr. Greene, what on earth or past it is this unicorn head doing so poorly hidden in your mob front? Do notice it took me all of maybe 20 seconds to grab this thing."

"Pssh! Mob Front, whady- I mea- c'mon mob front. Who said anything about a- I mean c'mon thats just... me? Run a mob front? Psshaw, I tell you gentlemen I just run a past- I mean a mob front? No— I-I could never."

Jake spoke up, "Mr. Guiseppe, we walked in here with a search warrant and found your unicorn stash. Do you- do you think we don't know that this is where the mob launders its money? Hell, I could walk outside and pick a kid off the street and they could tell me this place is for cleanin' money. The New Wallachian mob and its pasta shop is probably one of the worst-kept secrets in the history of... no nothin' tops this, worst-kept secret of all time. I mean fuck, I'm new to the whole goddamn city, and I could tell thats what this place was for."

"Sirs. Please, I ask you," Guiseppe pleaded, "you can't shut this place down! I love makin' pasta! My crime days are over! Just please, you can't report me to the cops, to the FDA, please!" Tears began to well in Guiseppe's eyes and he fell to his knees.

Jake crouched down to his level, "Mr. Guiseppe, if you answer our questions about why in the name of the good lord you have unicorn carcasses in your kitchen, we'll be outta your hair for good. You won't have to worry about the police, we offed the chief about a month ago, they're too busy with internal affairs. Your biggest worry should be the arsonist who's comin' to burn down your restaurant because they think your pasta's shit, but I don't imagine they couldn't be talked out of it. They might even offer to help. All we're askin' is about your connection with the- the uh, I don't know," stuttered Jake, briefly looking at Danny, who stood still brandishing his unicorn-clad spear, then looking back to meet Guiseppe's gaze, and snapping when he remebered his train of thought, "gnomes! We need to know what you know... about gnomes."

"Yeah, they came in a shipment of some of the drugs I used to peddle in my mobbin' days. They bring in unicorns they trade somewhere, and I'm the only person who's got a big enough freezer for 'em. They come around every 2nd Thursday of the month— somethin' about the Tower's reach being most effective so that god can't see what they do his creations. Anyways, they love those little chocolate wafers and aren't that smart so we could probably get most of them in squirrel traps."

Jake stood up, helping Guiseppe's Garden's proud owner back to his feet. They both shamed Danny into putting the unicorn head back into the freezer and arranged to meet again sometime before the next 2nd Thursday.

"Oh by the way gentlemen, I've got one more question you've yet to answer," Guiseppe called out before Jake and Dannt left, "who's this alleged arsonist comin' to burn down my restaurant."

You see, it was an assigned reading when I was 9. And this teacher. For SOME REASON. had us spend SEVEN MONTHS on it. we COUNTED. there were other things going on at the same time too, but the little prince haunted us. we couldn't escape

and so ever since every time i see it I just go >:( because we spent SO LONG on it and it turned me off from it. Which is a shame because it's very highly regarded and well done from what I hear, but WHO makes 9yos spend SEVEN MONTHS on ONE BOOK. WHAT was she thinking
