I HATE THEM
Anyways Rodolphus is left with nothing in the end. A dead brother and a dead father/a god who abandoned him. He sees Delphini and watches as she worships her own father and he feels the past repeat.
And he does nothing. For ignorance is bliss.
Rodolphus and his worship for a man that never actually existed. His family (the Lestranges) speaks of his father like a loving manner, speaks of his father is the highest manner. He sees his father as something he needs to be because his father’s absence is heavy on the Lestranges. But most importantly, he sees his father as a god. A man who was great in every way, a man who embodied everything his society wanted him to be. The man who created him and his brother.
Glorified tales of his father is told to him and Rodolphus finds himself worshiping him. The perfect wizard. Why does it matter that he’s in France now? It’s not as if Lestranges are often close to their family any way.
His father is God and Rodolphus is a blind worshipper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^^ I actually associate this with Rod more than Barty Srry guys I lied
I think how Rodolphus believes his father is achieving something great in France all while Mr. Lestrange drinks himself to an early grave in Paris on top of the Eifel Tower, at the very tip. Thinking about Rodolphus’ faith lessening when Mr. Lestrange is found with foam coming out his mouth and Rodolphus only finds out when after Rabastan’s funeral. The disappointment with the knowledge that his father, his God, has now abandoned him. Leaving him with raw grief that can’t be soothed with a now useless wish for his Father’s guidance.

DHANISHTA NAKSHATRA
23º 20’ Capricorn – 6º 40’ Aquarius “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” The Dolphin: Alpha Delphini, Beta Delphini, Delta Delphini, Gamma Delphini Ruled by Mars Star of Symphony. Power to give abundance and fame. Symbols: empty drum, an hourglass, bells and bulbs.
Tumblr media
Dhanishta is like a death of the inner child. Its essentially inert like sand, of coal or oil. Even the system is a dead thing unless the people actual show up to support it. The death of the spirit begins in Dhanishta and is completed in Purvabhadrapada. The machine  is just a dead thing. There is a suffering here as one is constantly striving to stay ahead of the curve.
Struggles of being controlled by other people, feelings of emptiness and superficiality. They devote themselves to a purpose or a person to deal with emptiness.
As it is within Dhanishta's power to give fame, they enjoy popularity and are often local celebrities. If well placed, they have a good reputation and are loved by people. They tend to mask their inner struggles with a bubbly persona, become an entertainer for other people, play the jester (performative) and seek out external stimuli as a way to fill the emptiness.
Major karma with marriage. Ashlesha is direct across so they often get into manipulative relationships do things they don’t want to do. They display big devotion towards their spouse and are service orianted, however they can get manipulative and use marriage as a means to an end. Often as a result, they are prone to getting controlled by their spouse. They enjoy material comforts.
Planets here are more likely to have feminine characteristics. It may also be seen that women with this placement have a somewhat easier time with the energies of this nakshatra.
Rakshasa: Belonging to the clan of the demons. Less practical, more hedonistic, often many ups and downs in life as the guru of the demons has the power to raise from the dead. Rebirth, transformation, redemption are all part of the system. Cyclical sense of time; mystical sense of reality. Marriage matching with another Rakshasa is best.
Dhanishta's stars form the diamond shaped Delphini constellation. Dolphin’s are unique creatures thought to be even more intelligent than human’s, and with that intelligence comes a childlike nature, playfulness, understanding, and selfless nature. They have a unique way using sonar & echolocation for communication, navigation and understanding the world around them. They are friendly, curious, peaceful, carefree creatures who live in harmony with humans as well as most other creatures of the sea. But they are also fearless in the face of predators and will sacrifice themselves to protect the pod rather than show any fear.
The Vasus such as Agni (fire), Vayu (wind), etc helps lord Indra in his fight with the demons and hence this nakshatra can also indicate some type of fight, competition, and competitiveness in a person’s life. Dhanishtha is also linked with land, real estate and may attain multiple properties. Suitable for real estate business.
Dhanishtas should keep musical insturments in their house as a remedial act and practice performance arts, music, communication and diplomacy.
"Most scientists and historians are born in Dhanishta. Since there is an inherent talent of keeping secrets, you are quite suitable for secret service, private secretaries to senior executives. Whatever may be your academic background, your intelligence is beyond question. In argument you are much ahead of others. Lawyers profession is excellent for you. From the 24th year onward will show progress in the earning field. Any improvement in the financial field will be only after marriage."
Shil-Ponde Female with Dhanishta Ascendant: “This is a talkative and interesting person, particularly successful in lecturing and debating. She is capable of writing mystic novels and is good at story telling. She will be happy in domestic life. She loves nice dresses, especially blue, pink, and purple, and likes curios and antiques.”
pada 2 (virgo): They can do very well in public service, administration, communications, or managing public affairs. They can be very good at the rhetorical, persuasive side or languages, marketing, and communications.

"soulmate killer consequence" oooh whats this one
Thanks for asking! This is exactly what it says on the tin.
I've always been intrigued by how Voldemort is depicted as this endlessly cruel man, obsessive and anti-social to the point where he would murder his own soulmate, to get rid of weakness or simply because his soulmate is Harry and he needs to defeat him. But I don't want him to get away scot free with this choice, that's his soulmate and killing half of yourself should have serious and damning consequences imo. I'm also interested in exploring more honest to character reactions on Harry's part to this experience and it's aftermath.
Mostly when Voldemort wins and Harry is forced into humiliation and submission, he's weary but ultimately accepting. He even forgives Voldemort and doesn't want to hurt him no matter what pain Voldemort inflicts on him, including rape! which always struck me as wildly ooc, so I wanted to explore my own take on this Voldemort wins by killing Harry idea.
I have variations of how it would begin, including one version where he has sex with Harry before killing him. Voldemort kills his soul and rules wizarding Britain without remorse, for bonus points I might include him in a happy relationship with Bellatrix and with their daughter Delphini.
The years pass and everything is going well, unto Voldemort begins hallucinating his dead soulmate. Voldemort finds him easy enough to ignore, his soulmate can't move on, trapped on this earth with Voldemort and isn't that delicious? But then, slowly and surely, the people Voldemort does care about begin to die by suicide. One by one his followers leave him, and new ones refuse to join, terrified of the curse.
Voldemort eventually discovers Harry's spirit at the scene of these suicides and concludes he's at fault. He rages, going out and killing more of Harry's loved ones, until there are non left, perhaps desecrating his corpse, perhaps trying to trap the ghost. In the end, it's just him, Bellatrix and his daughter.
To their combined horror, it's Delphini who dies next. Voldemort has a moment of deja vu as Bellatrix begs to be killed in place of her daughter. He does not, or maybe he does, maybe at this point the prospect of a miserable eternity alone with a silent, murderous ghost for company is enough to make him want to die.
Eventually he does kill himself and meets Harry in limbo. They can only move on together, being one soul and all. Voldemort tries unsuccessfully to force Harry through the gate to whatever is next. But Harry continually refuses, hiding, running nd it tuns out Voldemort can't force him, he has to go willingly. Voldemort tries everything, including reminding Harry of his parents, his beloved friends, doesn't Harry want to see them again? Harry still refuses, saying he doesn't want to be where Voldemort will also be.
Voldemort decides harry is a lost cause and that he will move on lone. He tells Harry to go through the gate after him when he's ready. He goes through himself, every step agonisingly painful, he's tearing his soulmate bond apart, Voldemort looks back and sees Harry standing, facing away from him, not even looking at him leaving. He turns around and steps forward into darkness.
Now it could end there, but I wanted Voldemort to suffer some more so I also thought of a sequel wherein Voldemort is reincarnated as his younger self, remembers killing his soulmate and waits uncertainly for years for Harry to be reincarnated again. Maybe he considers killing the Potter bloodline and ensuring Harry can't be reborn even if he does eventually go through the gate, maybe he subtly ensures the bloodline continues and on Harry's birthday he marches around like an anxious father to be waiting for the news, maybe he's a creep, watching the Potters in their home and wondering if that Harry is his Harry or not.
Maybe one day he gets to hold the boy, he's the head of the Department of Mysteries this time around and Lily works there and brings her kid in one day and Voldemort is completely shattered when there's no reaction when he shakes Harry's little hand, no spark, no soulmate, no memory. Nothing. Voldemort goes home and realises he's actually grieving the boy.
I'll stop because I could keep going, this idea has so much angst potential including Harry eventually remembering their past life or having a new soulmate who's not Voldemort (Voldemort is insanely jealous) or them being reincarnated again and recalling their past lives after they've already been married for years. Soo much potential with that base of angst.
No snippet for this one as it's just ideas at the moment.
Thanks for asking!

What is Meropes opinion on Belatrix? If Belatrix has a huge crush on her son Tom?
HI! Such an interesting question!
In my AU where Merope survives, Tom would be around 40 to make their relationship not totally creepy (remember in this AU voldemort is suppoused to end up as a somewhat decent guy) At first she might think Bella is sort of an odd young girl (but she gets its, her son is handsome and intelligent, after all) and Merope can tell she is really fancy, even more so Cecilia was, which she doesnt like all that much (she ships her son with either hagrid/myrtle LMAO)but she doesnt hate bellatrix and Bella seems so enthusiastic and devoted to Tom that I think Merope would eventually like her.
Bellatrix however LOVES Merope from the get go (and she is oblivious to merope initial apprehension) Bella likes her as much as she would anything Tom related, but fr she thinks that old lady is genuinely adorbs (merope is in her 60 by this point)
If they met in the afterlife Merope would just ask bomb her about her grand daugther (delphini is canon when I want her to be)

actually the cursed child is not THAT bad
the story is about how complex family can be, having the main character from the first series being flawed and not being the perfect father which makes sense considering he never had a good father figure (including sirius who, in the books, wasn't exactly as wise as in the movies), still harry tries and tries abd tries
depicts a realist sibling relationship between james and albus because yeah, actually brothers fight a lot and make fun of each others especially at that age
use a not that overused mecanic of the first series that wasn't developped enough as a red string for the main storyline, but the primary focus is actually the main character's relationships with his family and best friend
asks actually interesting questions like "how many people have died for the boy who lived"
shows how complex romantic relationships can become once you grow up and how, sometimes, you need to take time to take care of it
there's a really deep friendships/romantic relationship (depends on how you see it) between the two main characters that both makes sense and is interesting
the thing is just that the cursed child was not what people expected it to be
they wanted an harry potter book, the 8th part of the series and instead got a play that most people won't see and a book that was just the script and it was about albus, not harry
it does feel like a fanfiction, but most fanfictions did a better job
delphini wasn't fleshed out enough, most of the characters from the original series don't even make an appearance, scorpius and albus relationship goes from friendship to romance in some scene and then we throw a straight love interest at the last page that didn't make sense, ron felt flat, harry didn't acted as out of character as people say he was but since he had no actual reason to act this way so was definitly OOC, ginny felt OOC too, rose granger-weasley had NO evolution despite being HERMIONE AND RON DAUGHTER AKA TWO OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS
the canon ending of that saga felt meh compared to the one people consider the actual ending

Would Lord Voldemort also be a platonic yandere for Bellatrix's daughter? Voldemort and Bellatrix had a daughter, Delphini in the book, from "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". So would they give as a family?
I could see it!
I had actually considered including Delphini in my Yandere!Bellatrix Lestrange w/ Biological!Child!Reader headcanons and her relationship with the Reader but I decided that if anyone wanted that I would just write a part two or something.
In regards to Voldemort becoming platonic!yandere I could definitely see it, especially given how much Bellatrix would hype up her child when talking about them to him. It would certainly get his attention given how loyal of a Death Eater she is her child would have to be something just like her, right? But that wouldn’t be enough to garner his obsession. There would have to be more for him to be invested. He’d test them, make them prove their loyalty to the cause and if they do so as he pleases then I could see him taking even more of an interest in them. Maybe even taking them under his wing as his Dark Arts protégé.
I can’t help but think of Reader taking in and raising Delphini given the fall of Voldemort and the death of their mother after the second Wizarding War. I wholeheartedly believe the Malfoy’s would help the Reader in raising Delphini and being a better support system for her then what she’d end up with otherwise. Particularly Narcissa and Malfoy given they would be the closest to the Reader.
Imagine the Reader having turned out similar to Draco; having to act and do things they didn’t want to that would haunt them later but doing so nonetheless to protect the ones they cared about and or to please the Mother they never got to have (not like Narcissa wasn’t good enough already). Only for them to feel some sense of relief after the war is over and the Dark Lord is defeated. The Malfoy’s and the Reader no longer having to live under the fear of the Dark Lord let alone having him so close. Wanting to do good by their new sibling, the Reader wouldn’t want to abandon Delphini even if she did have Voldemort’s blood running through her veins. I could see the Reader desperately trying to keep Delphini from turning out like Bellatrix knowing nothing good would come of it. Only for Delphini to find out the truth about their parents and wanting to get back the family she didn’t have. Her family, not the Malfoy lie.
I could see Delphini growing up in this scenario and only really ever taking to the Reader over any of the Malfoy’s. Maybe even feeing like the Reader is her true family out of all of them before knowing the truth. Once she does know the truth though I feel like Delphini would resent the Malfoy’s all the more for lying to her and acting like her family when they weren’t. I don’t think she’d blame the Reader, she’d probably believe that they lied to them just like her. But she would definitely have no problem guilt tripping them.
I also have this image of pregnant Bellatrix keeping the Reader by her side whenever she can, gushing about how much their sibling is going to look up to them and whatnot. Or how wonderful their little family is going to be.
Personally, I feel like Narcissa would especially feel threatened to have Bellatrix back in the picture. She loves her sister of course but for the longest time she has considered the Reader her child and to have to give that up now that her sister is back would really hurt her. She would especially worry about the Dark Lord becoming invested in them, how could she not?

Hi! I’m interested in exploring Blackcest from a postwar/nextgen perspective. In particular, how the Black family legacy and family secrets might have ramifications a generation down the line and carry on in insidious ways even after their society has in theory moved on.
I wanted to ask (in the politest way possible) why Delphi isn’t eligible? Her direct first cousins Draco and Tonks are eligible, so she has the same level of familial relationships as them. (And thank you for hosting the fest - I saw the announcement post and got really excited about a potential Delphi/Scorp/Teddy entanglement, and the headaches that would cause in a year like 2024!)
and second anon Q:
Why is Delphini not eligible?
Delphini is not eligible because OCs are not eligible, even if those OCs belong to JKR herself.
That said, people of course can include OCs in their fics, and since Scorpius/Teddy would be eligible (as long as you consider Blackcest to be part of their story), adding JKR's OC Delphini Riddle would be fine.

"Yeah, mate, and who knows? Maybe, Jackie can finally actually meet someone who her age who she doesn't despise?" he teases, wrapping an arm around the girl's shoulder.
"Aye, be throwin' me in his cell. Scare tactic, I think. Bad idea, but it be workin' out fer me. Not fer them though," she laughs.
"They be takin' care of their own. That not be the case fer the pirate child they claim be manipulated and abandoned. Wasn't, but that be their claim. Ended up followin' Will around since I was seven," her face falls for a moment before a forced smile returns to it, "He and Lizzie be the only fuckers who didn't hate a child fer lovin' and tryin' teh be like 'er Da.
At that, Jack stares at the girl. Not shocked, but it is still sad. This child had imprinted on a boy who was fifteen when she was seven. They became friends and most likely still have a positive relationship, but they shouldn't have had to.
With her loving her Da, Jack pulls Jackie close. It isn't a hug, but his arm is around her and she is leaning into the affection. He knows that she misses the man, grieves for him. It's why he hasn't gotten rid of the monkey. She needs it, needs someone to share her pain.
"That's interesting, but that isn't the first thing we have in common. We already established both you and I are fathers, didn't we?" Jack questions, still trying to be there for Jackie.
"Ah, yes, of course," Voldemort said, nodding. The muggles would not have seen a pirate child as one of their own. He needed to keep that in mind - he had a habit of lumping all the muggles together. Strategically, it likely was a weakness to keep doing so.
"This Will, the boy who raised you," Voldemort asked, tilting his head. "Let me guess - he and his girl are pirates too?" Lucky him. A whole goddamn family of pirates. He could only hope Will had better hygiene.
"Ah, yes, that is true," Voldemort conceded, biting back a remark about how he actually raised his. It would not due to antagonize an ally. An ally - is that what this was? Sigh. How did he get into these situations? "Yes, my daughter - Delphini - has been spending some time with her mother. She should have arrived by now, but - ah, there she is now." He sighed. "Wearing trousers - people are going to mistake her for a pirate," Voldemort muttered, though the corner of his mouth lifted in a wry smile. Wizards did not care much for the gendered dress restrictions adhered to by muggle women, but they still generally tried to not cause undue attention in mixed public spaces. Delphini, however, was very much like her mother. Which means that she was absolutely unstoppable.

Yeah, I’m back on my Sims 4 bullshit! („ಡωಡ„) After an entire month I started to miss my Sim children. So, I decided to visit them once again and have some memorable screenshots, especially since I only started sharing my Sims experience from 5th and 6th generation. I’d be grateful if you checked it out one day, I think it can be somewhat investing! And there will be more content to come...
Recently I noted down in my little notebook all basic information and cool trivia about each of my Sim children, and I decided to share some of it here. There is a limit of only 10 pictures in one post, and I was afraid the post would be long but, to be fair, this is my blog and I’m doing what I want now! And, I will merely touch upon what is already established up to Delphini (gen 7). Again, there will be more in the future. Apologies in advance (ง ื▿ ื)ว
Generation one: Valentina Owl. I created her back in December 2019 when I got Discover University for Christmas! She’s a “human” Sim and I created her through a story option in CAS, and immediately started having a blast. I was not a huge fan of such USAmericanised concept of university but the game was fun. She was the only one who lived up to be an elder (and then die) because back then I thought I’m gonna have a game where my Sims age and stuff. That quickly didn’t work out for me because I missed her already and decided that I’m gonna fill my entire save with just Owl family. Valentina studied Communications and worked as a policewoman at the same time. A lonely workaholic with only her lavish garden, she finally settled for a relationship with Lilith Vatore. As I noticed in this post, there was no marriage so my entire bloodline comes from a bastard. Lovely! She died from receiving a flower arragement with Death Flower scent. Now she’s on the Gallery.
Generation two: Herbert Owl. He was the one who directly killed Valentina. He mastered Gardening like Valentina, and then Flower Arranging - unfortunate for her. Because of Lilith, he was a vampire - and to be fair, the consequences are haunting me to this day! So, a few trivia, maybe. He is super smart, lives in Glimmerbrook like the next two generations, and has a small garden in his house where he grows crops for husband’s, Morgyn Ember’s, potions. He prefers black and purple clothes, both in his human and vampire form. He wrote only one book in his life, translating to The Real Story of Valentina Owl - whether it’s to cover the murder or not remains a mystery. He makes flower arrangements to this day. Ah, he’s also immune to Sun thanks to one of his vampire perks! That sort of helped him take a better care of his son whom he loves very much.
Generation three: Harry Owl. There is not that much I can say about him. A perfectionist like his father (Herbert), he’s blond and wears both masculine and feminine clothes like his other father (Morgyn), but this is where the comparisons end. See, in my mind he wasn’t a good person, despite having a Compassionate trait. He cared for his grandmother’s (Valentina’s) garden only because of his father’s (Herbert’s) feelings; later he shun away gardening. As a teenager, he often used to drink plasma without permission even if he wasn’t thirsty. Of course, he was also a really bad father, often berating his son for not being “good enough” or not paying attention to him at all. All Harry cared about were his paintings that he was creating in his private office. He married Miverva Charm, started living with her family, and still decided to only socialise with her. No one really knows what made him choose her.
Generation four: Nereus Owl. Born a vampire, he cured himself out of vampirism as soon as he could and later became a spellcaster. All he ever did in life was seemed like a rebellion against his father - clothes, flacking off during studies, loving gardening and shuning away painting. Well, it seemed to his father that Nereus is doing this to spite him. Despite this borderline abuse (because how abusive can Sims really be?), Nereus claims his childhood was relatively happy. Of course, he has no clue where his Erratic trait came from! Or why he grew to be a Perfectionist as well. All he knows is that having over 11 different plants in his garden is what makes him happy and that he doesn’t care if his father approves of him anymore! You could see him for the first time here. What is more, as he grew older, he found that he loves playing the violin and his wife, L. Faba, supports him in any way she can. His natural hair colour is red; thanks, grey-haired Minerva - that one bit me in the ass for next three generations.
Generation five: Elijah Tane Owl. Vegetarian like his father, he was the first one to attend Foxbury instead of Britechester. His father Nereus claimed it should be Elijah’s choice what he wants to do in life, giving Elijah freedom Nereus never really had. Elijah studied Computer Science but was a man of many talents. He was a fan of Handiness, Cooking (especially grilling), and Fitness. He often played (and sang) serenades on a keyboard for his wife, Alessandra Robles, almost maxing out his Piano skill. What made him date Alessandra was a shared Vegetarian trait. His favourite colour accent in clothing is green. He grew six strawberry plants because he wished to have a daughter (yeah, only in Sims 4 lol). There are more info about him in my previous posts as it was this generation when I started publishing my game progress, starting with this one (although my main focus was on Salem).
Generation six: Salem Owl (previously Lavender Owl). There is tons and tons of posts about her, her wife Luna Villareal (both are adults, calm down FBI), and their five daughers: Amaryllis, Wisteria, Delphini (remember this one), Hemlock, and Poppy. All you need to know about her is that she is a hard-working mother who climbed her way to the top and even higher to secure the future of her daughers. She hoped for three children and played with On the Dark Ley-Line lot trait to perhaps have some vampire offspring. Instead, she had twins (Ama and Wis) first, and then triplets (Del, Hem, and Poppy) later! She taught her daughers instruments/skills like Piano, Pipe Organ, and Violin. Once she realised Wis and Hem were vampires, she started growing three Plasma fruit trees, with time maxing out her Gardening skill. She’s on very bad terms with her grandma, L. Faba, but tries to keep in touch with her grandpa, Nereus. She has a bad reputation because of her Insensitive trait and a handful of enemies. She’s sorry for what happened between Lilith and Valentina in the past but the Vatore twins don’t mind. She’s ginger, workaholic, has spiky ears, and a lot of freckles. She’s still very good friends with Vladislaus.
Generation seven (A): Amaryllis Owl. She’s colour-coded (pink) and her clothes and room reflect that. She wrote at least 10 books, has spiky ears after her mother (Salem), and is the older daugher in the house. Eventually, she married Candy Behr. Ama’s twin sister is Wisteria and they share the same eyeliner type. Despite having a twin, her skin tone is lighter than Wis’ but the same as Hem and Poppy’s. She inherited a feminine walk from her mother (Luna). Doesn’t know much about Vampire Lore despite having vampire sisters. She loved doing everything with her twin sister. Amaryllis used to be a naturally-born/spawned hybrid of a vampire and a spellcaster but settled for the latter.
Generation seven (B): Wisteria Owl. She’s colour-coded (purple) and her room reflects that. As a vampire, she aims for a gothic look, often wearing hats and gloves to hide from the sun (with time, she turned into a heliphobe). She’s an actress and a B-Lister. She has a pet frog in her room. To reach her room, one has to walk through Ama’s room first - and they’re both okay with that. Wis is the only one to have the same skin tone as her mother (Salem) and the same nose as her other mother (Luna). Her vampiric form changes her eye colour to glowing purple. She loved goign to karaoke bars with her older twin sister Ama, which led Wis to maxing out Singing skill. As a fully fledged vampire, she decided to reach out to Herbert - they’re good friends.
Generation seven (C): Delphini Owl. Same as Amaryllis - naturally-born/spawned hybrid of a vampire and a spellcaster but settled for the latter. She’s colour-coded (dark blue) and her clothes and room reflect that. She always knew she’s going to leave the house and eventually create more Owls. She pursued the rich life and moved out to Del Sol Valley, eventually becoming a Global Superstar. She used to work in a Musician Branch but quit after time - blame the Freegan trait. She has three cats and lives with her daugher Morgan, and her [Morgan’s] husband Kaito Kaneko, and their adopted son Leven Owl (all of which I’ll talk about another time). She received a lot of awards (meeting with fans, Perfect Llama to name the few) and is very happy that her daugher lives with her. She used to romance with Flower Bunny, and then Octavia Moon - althought the initial plan was to go after Octavia’s husband, Thorne. Del often drinks but since there’s no alcoholism in Sims 4, let’s pretent she likes to stay hydrated! She owes half of her success (or namely, money for and expensive house) to her mother Salem. Loves to sunbathe!
Generation seven (D): Hemlock Owl. She’s colour-coded (white) and her clothes and room reflect that. She’s a make-up enthusiast and a little spoiled by the rich life. Also, she’s very Squeamish and Noncommittal. Despite being a vampire, she’s not interested in improving Vampire Lore skill at all. In her vampire form, her eyes change to glowing white. Her face as as many freckles as her mother’s (Salem). She’s the middle child in the triplets business and her best friend is Poppy. She used to wear glasses as a child... What more can I say? She’s living the dream!
Generation seven (E): Poppy Owl. She’s colour-coded (red) and her clothes and room (and a neon light) reflect that. The youngest daughter in the house. Wild and a Bro, she’s the perfect candidate to hang out with. She’s the only child to be born a human - which most likely makes Luna very happy. She’s a robots enthusiast - not Robotics skill but only figurines of robots. She’s a Geek so what else should we expect? She has her own TV and a stereo in her room (as well as a bubble machine). Poppy often wears her PJs around the house because they’re the comfiest. Despite being a Bro, she doesn’t really have friends beside her family. She’s the one to walk the family dog, Milk.

hello there!!! I was looking through some of your tags and I found that you have an ao3 account (I think) with some interesting fics. could you pass over a link cuz it isn't on your faq page
I peak out from my rocky cave to push dozens of scrappy old papers out in the open
https://archiveofourown.org/users/Zuhelle/works
I once more recede into the darkness out of embarrassment
~~~
List of incomplete fics I have yet to post:
Miraculous Ladybug Fic: “Arranged”  involving humanized!Kwami where the Miraculous Jewelry isn’t just a power keeper, but also an arranged marriage sort of deal. Main pairings will be PlaggxAdrien and TikixMarinette. (At odds with myself if AdrienxMarinette will be part of those pairings...) (70% complete, current word count: 47,698 aka 117 pages)
Teen Titans Fic: “The Stolen Apprentice”. Takes place during Robin’s “apprenticeship” to Slade. A certain someone finds out that his great-grandson has been enslaved, and he just can’t have his future heir working under someone else. Robin is stolen from Slade by the Court of Owls. Who the hell are these people.... just exactly who is Robin...? And will Slade be able to choke down his pride and enlist the help of a certain Batman to save what’s been lost? (No Pairings, Angst, Hurt/comfort, family)
Code Geass Fic: “Lelouch of the Revise”. Lelouch Vi Britannia has been slain. But Lelouch should have known... killing a Code bearer wouldn’t be that easy. Lelouch’s mind is shoved back to earth, into the body of a young high school boy, about to be shot in Shinjuku ghetto. His body, from three years ago. Lelouch has been given a second chance. A chance to change everything. Will he succeed, or will his revisions of the past only bring a darker future? (And what new discoveries will he unlock along the way?)
Harry Potter Fic: “The Cursed Children”. Rewrite of the badly received Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playwright, following the lives of Albus Severus Potter, Scorpius Malfoy, Delphini ‘Diggory’, and a young muggle-born transfer student named Raweni Kawari from MahouTokoro School of WitchCraft and Wizardry. Things are not as they seem. Dark times await them, and they chase after this darkness without thinking about the consequences. (AlbusXScorpius DelphinixRaweni) (Although there is an OC in here, consider her as like a Ginny to the main trio of Harry Potter. She’s involved, but it focuses more on the trio in the series) (At first it will be Cursed Child canon-compliant, but then I’m gonna go nuts when the plot starts to pick up. I’m excited. I don’t wanna reveal too much, hehe) (Still working out the kinks in this one. Needs a lot of revision work.)
ROTG Fic: No name as of yet. Not yet started. Genderbend Centerswap AU. One day, Jack woke up, and everything was wrong. He and the Guardians are transported to a world opposite of them. Not only are the “other Guardians” the opposite gender, but their beliefs and centers are changed as well. And not for the better. The “Guardians” of this world are evil and bring about terror amongst children. A certain Boogiewoman however does the opposite. Perhaps they’ll need to set aside their assumptions and enlist her help to get back home... and maybe stop the cruelty emanating from her world in the process. And they’ll need to start with the Moon’s ultimate weapon: Jacquelyn Frost.  (Focus is Fem!Pitch and Fem!Jack. Their centers have been changed to courage and mundanity. Angst fic, dark themes.)
ROTG Fic: No name as of yet, not started. ROTG Apocalypse AU. Similar to the one listed above, but the Four Guardians are now the Four Horsemen. To protect the world from falling into Chaos, a lone angel, Jack Frost (Unsure whether to be female or male yet in this au) Encased the Four Horsemen in ice for all eternity to prevent this catastrophic event. Jack cannot allow a slip-up, lest the world end........ but a certain tall, black-haired being enraptures the frost spirit’s heart.... slowly but surely warming it. But unbeknownst to her(?), thawing away her(?) imprisoning frost in the process. (PitchxJack, angst, romance? Potential betrayal fic, dark themes.)
BLEACH Fic: No name as of yet. Ichigo uses Mugetsu against Yhwach, but it destroys the boundaries of space-time, sending White Zangetsu and Black Tensa into the past..... But Ichigo Kurosaki is nowhere to be found. What have they changed? What disasters have they brought into motion far too early? Can they change their ending to be happily ever after, or will they reside in darkness forever? (Pairing: ~slightly established~ White Zangetsu(Hollow) x Black Tensa(Quincy). Hurt/comfort, romance, adventure. Involves amnesiac Black Tensa and Mute White Zangetsu.)
BLEACH Fic: No name as of yet. Not yet started. Ichigo is the new Soul King. Aizen is his advisor. This comes as a shock to everyone and may spark outrage amongst the Sereitei if not kept quiet. What’s worse? Finding out Aizen Sousuke is the Soul King’s advisor? ....Or finding out the Soul King and his so-called advisor are involved in a scandalous, intimate relationship with each other? (AizenxIchigo fic. I will not apologize fite me)
Kingdom Hearts Fic: No name as of yet. Involves a rare, impossible meeting between Roxas and Vanitas. Their other halves are locked away asleep, safe and sound. But they are awake. And being hunted. Their forbidden meeting will spark confusion, changed alliances, and perhaps more. (Unclear if RoxasxVanitas just yet, fic is still a WIP.)
Lis I adore your Sugar Baddie Type analysis! But TOM RIDDLE?!
ok two more anons asked this and you are all really right, this indeed needs some explanations.
to put tom among the “sugar baddies” trope is the consequence of my *more mature* personal opinion about his character, therefore it is for you to decide how right i might be in the end. i was also specifically referring to his dynamic with bellatrix, which never stops to fascinate me. but again, since none or very little of this is clearly mentioned in the books, which are sadly not specifically about him, all this will always be up to interpretations.
tom riddle (and then voldemort consequentially) is one of the most ruthless, fascinating villains ever created, pure in his evil as much as in his ideology, extremely selfish and wicked, so full of hatred, fear, ambition and, yes, desperation as well. so purely evil, in fact, that people too many times tend to oversimplify his character and more importantly his behaviors. to most, voldemort is too evil to do anything else but evil; too evil to be anything else but a full-time fairytale-like villain. we can hardly picture him enjoying a quidditch game, or a pie, or reading a book about anything else but horcruxes-making; we don’t even dare to try to picture him having sex, if not in a degrading way towards his victim, ehrm, partner. and this is all absolutely true, but i love to think there is also… more.
to really strike me, a villain must still possess the shreds, the deformities of what once their humanity was. it’s what i love about ancient mythologies - even gods have human-shaped hearts. but those hearts in their chests are redder, have twisted forms, pulse with more insistence - and they are so much heavier.
i like to think voldemort falls in this category, even if it’s not always easy to come to realize this when you first read the books. after all, as any real myth, and i say this with a bit of pride, there is little or nothing left of the real person behind it, not in the minds of those who come after them, at least.
growing up with the hp books, i had this same idea of tom riddle as well and i think the novels are to some extent to blame for this, after all they are told from harry’s point of view and we can’t really blame him for falling for the fairytale-like monster trick, it’s obvious that tom himself wanted everyone to perceive him like that, to fear him like that, that’s, after all, the very reason he became voldemort in the first place, to get rid of his humanity - and i can’t honestly think of anything more painfully human than that.
yet, when i say “human” i’m not trying to belittle his demi-god aura, or his exceptionality, quite the opposite: i’m endlessly fascinated by his being a finer, higher, more sophisticated kind of human - with the horrors that came with it as well. even when harry tries to consider him as person, even while he watches him as a boy in the orphanage, harry is presented with an inhuman psychopath, but i don’t think it is necessary always the case. i like to think one as intelligent and exceptional (and damaged) as tom could easily go from pure evil to (potentially) pure love in a split second. and that’s absolutely disturbing in a person, and twisted, and really interesting. after all, there are many ways one can be unable to love: being conceived under a love potion doesn’t necessarily make you alien to love, but maybe simply unable to understand or trust it. i think this interpretation fits more tom’s character: he had ALL the capabilities others had, he actually had more than, even the one to love, but his past and choices and consequential fears made him the monster he became.
recently analyzing his character, i found myself intrigued to go past his evil-entity facade, looking at him in a more real person kind of way, trying to understand him more as a real-life dictator with supernatural powers. a man behind the monster, behind the endless power. and i like to think in the end he did enjoy quidditch games, and pies, and music, and literature, and art, and did care, in his twisted and dangerous way of course, about some people - bellatrix, most of all.
he screamed when she died. he tried to avenge her. he had a daughter with her. and in all honesty i can’t really see him having an aseptic one-night-stand sex for some heir-conceiving frenzy, it’s terribly out of character for someone who’s been planning to live forever and being the world’s eternal dictator since he was six years old. i’m sure delphini was a mistake and this means he was actively having sex with bellatrix, the said most loyal lieutenant, whom he tried to avenge, whom he screamed for, to whom he literally entrusted a piece of his own torn soul (how awfully romantic). bellatrix who was basically almost seen as a queen by everyone, incredibly feared and respected. bellatrix who was always behind him, and yet ahead of everyone else in every single battle/meeting/situation - and he let her. do you think someone like voldemort would have allowed anyone to be that annoying if he had not enjoyed it? anyone else would have been killed for much less. bellatrix who had talent, and courage, and the strength to never give up for all those years in azkaban, just to one day see him again. i think him intelligent and deep enough to be fascinated by that, especially if that beautiful mind was as twisted as his own. also i think him intelligent enough to value beauty: the beauty of magic, of nature, of her body. all those sentiments are linked and they absolutely don’t diminish the horrors in my mind, they just magnify them.
but i also think their relationship, as twisted and complicated and unhealthy as it might have been, wasn’t a degraded slave and master one. leaving aside the fact i don’t think he would have enjoyed to fuck a worthless worm at all and that bellatrix can be literally perceived as anything but that, i think he viewed sex as something deeply human, and therefore far beneath him. extremely good-looking as he was, i think he considered women something he would have never lessened himself with.
then why having sex with bellatrix and favor her, even publicly, even if in a really subtle way? the only possible answer is there were sentiments involved, admiration for her, trust in her, desire for her beyond reason, even. i also think he would have only ever allowed himself to appear that human with someone he literally trusted more than his very self. i don’t want to explore here all the possible implications and internal crisis this might have caused them both, but this is why they probably are my favorite fictional couple and that’s why i’m so fascinated by them both. they do fall in the trope, but not as the normal “pure girl saves villain” kind of way, but in a much higher one: what’s really perfect about them is they found each other in darkness, they are kindred spirits in power and terror, and yet this doesn’t mean they can’t love or care, but just that it’s a black kind of love they share. a terrible one.
i think bellatrix was the great woman behind the great man, whom he rewarded publicly, and dashingly and twistingly loved privately. and if we can’t really see him doing any of those things, it’s because he succeeded in making us just see the terrible mask of voldemort, finally becoming the hideous myth that could so safely protect and immortalize the broken, desperate and exceptionally talented tom riddle.
TCC Headcanons (part two)
More headcanons, this time featuring a bunch of Teddy because I love him so much and he deserves all the attention! Of course there’s mostly Scorbus because I’m a trashbag for them. I’ll probably add on a third part of headcanons soon, because I’m starting to get very attached to the Jeddy ship as well.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Albus isn't remarkably skilled with spells or potions, but he CAN conjure a patronus charm by fifth or sixth year.
It's more powerful than even Harry's.
His patronus takes the shape of a dragon, which embodies his personality (hot blooded, impulsive, bites a lot, but powerful in his own way and deserving of respect, etc), and references his future as a Magizoologist.
Of course he thinks of Scorpius and recalls memories of Scorpius to conjure the charm, and it gets stronger and more powerful as he gets older and gains more memories.
Scorpius' patronus takes the shape of a phoenix, which embodies his loyalty, wisdom, inner strength, and longing to heal people from injuries and curses.
Though aviary creatures are his favorite, Albus refuses to work with Augery's.
He and Scorpius are pretty much the same height, accept maybe a centimeter difference of Albus being taller.
Delphini is an unregistered animagus (she can fly without a broom, she's clearly powerful enough to have perfected the transformation into an animagus, and I'm willing to bet she doesn't need a wand to cast spells either).
Her animagus is an Augery, of course.
Neville is? The best God damn professor? In the fucking school??????
Albus absolutely adores him and just chills in his office sometimes cuz that's his godfather and I'll be DAMNED if they don't have a great relationship you can fight me on that.
Lily is super good at Transfiguration and will 100% eventually work towards becoming a registered animagus.
Both Lysander and Lorcan work with their parents as Magizoologists and editors/photographers for the Quibbler.
They're notable for photographing magical beasts and writing more modern pieces about them.
They've also been known to tag along with Albus on some of his later adventures as a dragon keeper/Magizoologist to document his work.
Teddy Lupin eventually becomes an Auror like his mother.
His specialty is in potion making but he can do just about everything.
He's super involved in the equal rights movement for lycanthrope afflicted wizards and witches.
In honor of his father and what he went through, he works towards making Wolfsbane Potion more affordable for the afflicted.
Teddy himself is an expert at preparing and brewing the advanced potion, and keeps a few bottles on him at all times, just in case.
He keeps his hair wild colors most of the time, because without the camouflage he looks too much like Remus and it makes him incredibly depressed.
Whenever Harry or Andromeda see him as he is, they give weak and broken smiles, ones of pity and longing, and it tears him up inside.
He carries around a silver locket engraved with a wolf on the outside.
Inside is a picture of his parents, and a small music box fit into the other side that plays a lullaby tune his mother used to sing with to get him to sleep.
He swears sometimes he can still hear her, and Remus, singing to him.
His patronus is a wolf.
He's actually pretty protective of Scorpius.
This is likely due to the fact Teddy doesn't have many blood relatives left, and treasures the ones that he does have.
He loves Harry and considers the extended Potter-Weasley-Granger-Etc family to be his, but there's just something to be said about blood.
Plus Scorpius is precious and deserves to be adored and loved and treasured anyway.
He spent a few years (between the ages of twelve and fifteen) simply hating his parents, in complete denial of their deaths and "abandonment", but slowly grows out of it and is very proud of them and their sacrifice.
One of his most prized possessions is the gold medal of the Order of Merlin that Kingsley Shacklebolt awarded Remus after the Battle of Hogwarts, which he keeps close to his bedside and holds when he's feeling particularly lonely or at a loss of what he's doing with his life.
Despite the age difference, James is basically his best friend.
He was one of the first people to hold him when he was born and has adored him ever since.
During his first year at school, James had trouble getting used to things, so Teddy gave him one of his house scarves.
James would wear it and cling to it when he was anxious like he was holding Teddy's hand.
He luckily grew out of his anxiety after a few months, but kept the scarf.
Teddy calls him Jamie most the time, Jim if he wants to make him mad or piss him off, and only calls him James if he's upset/angry and needs to get his attention or wants to scold him.
In TCC when he sees James with pink hair, he changes his hair color to pink to match and make him feel better.
Albus always runs off after one of his unfortunately common arguments with their father, but always goes to the same place to cool down, and James always, always goes after him to talk.
It takes a lot of bad jokes and puns to get Albus to follow him back home, James doesn't quite know how to give him brotherly advice aside from trying to make him laugh, but being there for Albus, always following him when he runs away from home, is enough.
James was generally inconsolable when Albus went missing from the train, because for the first time he didn't know where his brother was and couldn't follow him to bring him back.
Teddy is an expert at wandless magic and silent spells (just like Remus), and can cast some of the most advanced spells and charms, or make some of the most advanced potions, without much difficulty.
I kind of??? See him??? Becoming Minister of Magic after Hermione?????? ((After him I see Scorpius MAYBE becoming Minister, but I haven't decided how I feel about that idea yet)).
Listen to "If You Could See Me Now" by The Script and cry over Teddy never meeting Remus so I'm not the only one suffering plz.
Teddy did not inherit Remus' Lycanthropy, but I headcanon he did inherit something I'm calling a Moon Sickness.
He is not a werewolf, but around every full moon he gets incredibly tired and fatigued, and has terrible nightmares.
Teddy is unexpectedly talented in astronomy, divination, and runes.
As if his father's blood connection to the moon, sky, and stars, gave him the gift of what Trelawney calls "the sight".
He isn't a Seer like she is, but his dreams are too convenient to ignore.
He tells himself dreams are all they are and has only expressed his suspicions about them to James (and maybe to Victoire idk).
Seemingly skilled at everything he attempts, but Teddy has a remarkably difficult time conjuring a patronus the first time.
Every time he tried he would just think of his parents and end up completely unable to make so much as a blue spark.
When he does manage to make a corporeal Patronus for the first time, it takes the form of a wolf, just like his mother and fathers, and he cries.
After the first time, he starts to conjure the wolf just to look at it, and pretends it's the spirit of his parents there to protect him.
Scorpius' boggart is Delphini.
Albus' boggart is Scorpius dead from the killing curse (his boggart is accompanied by the bright green light).
Teddy's boggart is himself, or some form of himself that he's scared of becoming.
As he is the only known child of a werewolf and a human, a hybrid that hasn't existed before, some people have taken a particular interest in Teddy.
Some of Fenrir's supporters from the second war managed to get away from execution and prison and went under ground, but they too have taken an interest in Teddy.
Some people think his blood, his DNA, could hold the secret to a cure for Lycanthropy.
It's a false, pointless belief and hope, not based on fact, entirely impossible, but that doesn't stop the werewolves from looking into it, wanting to experiment just to test their theory.
James' patronus is a dog (I honestly see him tilting towards being similar to Sirius in terms of loyalty rather than being similar to his grandfather idk why).
After the Delphini incident, the ministry kept her existence tightly under wraps to keep the wizarding community from falling into an all out panic.
And to keep Voldermort supporters and dark wizards from gaining confidence against the ministry and the Aurors.
Her arrest was never publicized in the Daily Prophet.
However, this also means the rumor of Scorpius being the Dark Lord's son continued to plague him at school.
Reporters claim a silly "harmless" rumor is less damaging than actually telling people their suspicions are correct and that one of the most dangerous dark wizards of all time had a CHILD.
Draco was furious upon learning the ministry's decision to withhold the truth about her, but Scorpius decided he agreed and claimed it was fine.
That he'd rather suffer through school for a few more years than watch panic ensue because of Delphini.
Because that was exactly what she wanted, and Scorpius would be damned if he allowed her the satisfaction of knowing people feared her.
Because of this, when his boggart changed into her, only Albus (and maybe the teacher), knew who she was.
The class laughed at him because why would his greatest fear be some pretty older woman?
Albus cast the Riddikulus charm before the boggart could finish changing, because he knew what it would be, and didn't want Scorpius to see himself lying dead on the ground.
The teacher scolds him for prematurely casting the spell, but he doesn't care, so long as he doesn't have to do it again.
The professor tries to make him but he refuses, so he’s given detention, but he honestly does not care.
He just doesn’t want to see Scorpius dead, even if it’s just a Boggart.
He has enough nightmares about losing Scorpius without a Boggart fucking him up.
Albus tops in the relationship.
Wow, okay. I love a lot of these.
Yeah, no. Delphini Riddle/Black/Lestrange was not conceived on purpose, I don’t think Voldemort made her for any ritual reasons or anything like that. More that they didn’t think either of them were capable of making children. Like you said, Bellatrix was not at her healthiest fresh out of  Azkaban, and I don’t think homemade bodies are great on the sperm count.
Yeah, I can really see Bella being super uncomfortable with going through with the pregnancy, it being her lord’s might have helped a little.
I totally see Voldemort hating being anywhere near Bella’s difficult labor. I use to think of him awkwardly hoving outside the room but I can envision this scenario much more clearly.
Yes, Bella 100% has a difficult relationship with her womanhood that was deeply ingrained by her parents. I’m not saying she’s so infatuated with Lord Voldemort because of daddy issues, but-
I also never really understood Delphi's name, I thought maybe there was a list of powerful star names that the Blacks rotate and pick from. Perhaps in the panic (Bella’s case) of realizing neither of the parents had picked a name she chose a nice sounding one at random?
Delphi 100% has black, curly hair, but come one! She totally has her daddio's eyes. (None of that white/blue hair crap)
I would love to see more fanfiction and art with a emphasis on the Bellamort relationship before, during and after the pregnancy- and I especially want Rodolphus to play a part in that story. It would be really interesting to see his POV.
All in all, some great headcanons my friend.
Any headcanons for Delphi? :)
Mmmhh, this is a tough one since I don't really like the idea of Bella and Voldemort having kids (for various reasons, maybe I'll do a separate post about why).
Also, I read CC a long time ago and while I remember what happens, I also remember that the part about Delphi made my blood boil from the injustice that was her life. It irks me and irritates me to even think about it, both from the waste of the character and how she was treated. Also, I don't think she was a very well-written character at all (but none of them was in that play, so...)
For these reasons, and also because I try to not diverge too much from what we know in the canon, my HCs are about Delphi's conception and birth. If you want some about how the story actually went or about some AU where Bella and Vold live, I can do a part 2.
Delphi was a mistake. I don't care what anyone thinks or says, there is no way Voldemort planned her unless he wanted to cut her up and use her for some dark magic ritual where he needed his own flesh (sorry for the extremely gruesome image, but it's the truth). I think that both Voldemort and Bellatrix had just assumed it was impossible for them to conceive: a post-rebirth humanoid body couldn't possibly produce fertile sperm, in Voldemort's mind, just like a battered, beaten body, put through fourteen years of torture in Azkaban, couldn't possibly be fertile, let alone carry to term safely, in Bellatrix's mind. Ironically, they never had doubts about the other, even though they were convinced the other had doubts about them.
It happens when they are not being careful, especially Bellatrix (who was the one that took contraceptives during the first war) since she isn't having regular periods and is very weak. Normally, witches at her age are still perfectly capable of having kids, but she had had problems even during the first war.
Neither of them takes it very well, at first.
Bellatrix does not want to become a mother. No, sir, she does not. She is Bellatrix, a female warrior, who wants to go into battle and bring the wrath of the gods, fire and blood, down upon her enemies. She never wanted kids, she doesn't want this one.
Bellatrix also doesn't want to be a mother. And the two are different. You see, I headcanon Bella has having a difficult relationship with her sex. Not because she doesn't like being a woman, but because she feels constrained in the stereotypical roles of womanhood, which she sought to break throughout her life.
Once, when Druella was expecting her fourth and last child (a boy, who died a few days after birth), she had a conversation similar to that of Aemma and Rhaenyra in the first episode of HOTD. She told her eldest daughter, who was nine at the time, that sooner or later she would be laying in the birthing bed as that was her duty as a pureblood woman.
Bellatrix replied that she would rather be a warrior, destined for battles and glory. When Druella told her, half-scandalised half-worried, that warriors often died in battle, Bella answered that ladies died in childbirth, which to her was much worse.
Bellatrix has a series of crises and doubts regarding (in no particular order): her role as a mother, her relationship with the dark lord, her place in the DE ranks, the birth itself, her marriage with Rodolphus, her life after that, the sex of the baby, and much much more. The fact that no one explores them in fanfiction in the proper, deep, correct way irks me.
She concealed her pregnancy in the first months when it could still be done, and then she just disappeared for a while from the DE scene.
Bellatrix was the most pretentious mother-to-be in the world, with the most difficult cravings to satisfy. She accepted nothing but the best.
Bellatrix was sure her feelings towards the child wouldn't change whether it was a boy or a girl. With that being said, she hoped for a boy. The thought of a little dark lord, who was just like his father, but who truly loved her and was devoted to her, was one of the main ideas that led her to accept the pregnancy. I think she thought raising a boy would be much easier, and something she would have more help with (Rodolphus and Rabastan, the DL himself, Narcissa who had already raised a son albeit a weakly one). There was also the idea of the Black inheritance. With a son who turned out stronger than Draco, she could provide an actual heir to the House of Black, something her parents had failed to do.
Also, Bella spent most of her adult life around men (with the notable exception of Narcissa). She probably would have an idea of how to raise a son, how she would want him to be, and very few on how to raise a girl.
Of course, she would want a warrior for a daughter. Except what if her daughter didn't want to be? What if this daughter turned out like Narcissa, a housewife who barely uses complex magic these days? (I feel that Bella has some ingrained sexism inside of her, which I particularly like because it makes her even more complex, especially as a strong, independent woman). What if she marries an idiot like Lucius? Even worse, what if she runs away with a mudblood like Andromeda? Oh, Bella would kill her with her own hands if that were the case! Her own mother had wanted someone more like Narcissa, someone less involved in the bloodshed and more in the politics. Bellatrix had suffered because her mother just wouldn't understand what the right choice was! What if her daughter was the same? What if her daughter felt the same about her? What if her daughter broke her heart the same way Andromeda had broken her mother's? What if she broke her daughter's heart?
Bellatrix wants a boy. Boys are more simple. (They're really not, but Bellatrix doesn't realize that).
On the other hand, Voldemort despises the idea of having a son. What if the child looks like Tom Riddle? What if the child tries to usurp him? Nope. He wants a daughter that looks like Bellatrix and has her loyalty.
He gets a daughter that looks like Bellatrix.
Bellatrix is also overjoyed because LV tells her he was hoping for a girl and that she has made him proud.
The moment she holds her daughter in her arms, she feels pride and love like never before because that is the blood of Salazar Slytherin and her Lord and her family all together and she is absolutely perfect.
She got to name the child and she respected the Black Family traditions (also because the DL didn't really ever think about baby names, and neither did he have a family name he wished to bestow upon his child).
I have no idea why she chose Delphini in particular, since dolphins are intelligent, playful, and friendly creatures (not the primary qualities Bella would have wanted for her child), and both the myths about the birth of this constellation do not fit these characters' stories at all. So, I think she did it because of another reason. The two main stars in the Delphinus constellation are Sualocin and Rotanev. When read backwards they give the name Nicolaus Venator, the Latin translation of the name Nicolò Cacciatore. He was an astronomer (and I headcanon him as a wizard, at this point) and the only man who ever got away with naming not one, but two stars after himself. I think Bellatrix would have been fascinated with this story, with this man who literally wrote his name in the stars. That's why she chose it.
The labour was difficult, and so was the pregnancy, and Bella was on bed rest for the last few months (which is why she disappeared for a period in the books).
The child could understand her father speaking to her in Parseltongue, in the womb. Voldemort sometimes did that, just to make sure the child inherited that ability of his.
Voldemort was not present for the birth. He was in the room farthest from it and still, he could hear the screams and they reminded him of Wool's (where sometimes unfortunate girls like his mother turned up pregnant and in need of help; most died). He hated it.
Rodolphus, however, paced up and down outside of the room, and he still hadn't made up his mind on how to feel about the whole situation. (I find the whole thought of them being one big happy family a bit too fluffy and unrealistic).
LV was genuinely worried that Bellatrix would die and steeled himself by thinking there was no woman in the world more different from his mother.
There were also other worries: what if it was born dead, sick, deformed, slow... a squib, like his mother?
But it was the most perfect, healthy, baby girl.
She was NOT blonde.
Like Harry Potter, she too had her mother's eyes.
Hey Drew, do you think you could go into detail and explain your feelings on the recent Harry Potter debacles (The Cursed Child and also what Pottermore has become)? Your opinions usually mirror mine but I'm having a hard time putting it all together. Cheers! Hope you're doing alright (I think you live in Florida?) watch out for that nasty, nasty weather.
Hey there! Let me see here. I’ll try to express my feelings, I’ll be eager to hear from you to see if you agree!
So basically the current expansion of J. K. Rowling’s wizarding world breaks down into three categories: Pottermore, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the Fantastic Beasts series. I’ll take them one at a time.
Pottermore started out as this amazing addition to the Potter fandom. We were all so excited to be officially Sorted into our houses, learn what kind of wands we might receive, and delve deeper into the world of Harry Potter. Pottermore was excellent at the start when we were learning more about Jo’s writing process and fun facts. Why were Hufflepuff’s colors yellow and black, for example. Even the character biographies we got at the start were thoughtful and creative and felt like an extension of the universe that was already there. Pottermore has deteriorated as we’ve moved further and further away from what Jo already had written down and we’ve gone deeper and deeper into material invented for Pottermore. Ilvermorny is obviously the biggest example here. The American copy-and-paste version of Hogwarts is so clearly an afterthought developed for a quick name-drop in the Fantastic Beasts movie. It truly makes no sense as an actual American school for reasons that plenty of people smarter than me have expanded on – the trivialization of Native American culture, the absurdity that one school would suffice for the entire United States, the dismissal of the canonically established Salem Institute. The inclusion of “houses” is particularly frustrating for me. I’m sure we have private schools in the States that have houses but in general it’s an extremely British concept that doesn’t translate here. More importantly, the Hogwarts house system is so incredible. The house mascots and colors, the association with the four elements, and the values prescribed to each category all come together in a truly beautiful way. Our generation in particular has come to adopt the Hogwarts houses as core elements to our personality. It’s our way of discussing our values – the morality of ambition, the importance of loyalty, the discussion of mind versus heart or knowledge versus instinct. The Ilvermorny houses belittle the brilliance of the Hogwarts houses and it honestly infuriates me.
As a tangent to this, I think Jo also insults her own system by continuing to sort the “good guys” into Gryffindor and the “bad guys” into Slytherin. Celestina Warbeck would have been a great good-Slytherin but Jo says she’s a Gryffindor. Dolores Umbridge would have been a fascinating bad-Hufflepuff but Jo says she’s a Slytherin. Remember that meta about how Hagrid’s house is never identified in the books and how it makes way more sense for him to be a Slytherin than a Gryffindor? The houses have so much depth to them, Jo even talks about how Hufflepuff is her favorite house, but she treats them in such a superficial way.
My frustration with the Fantastic Beasts series is not dissimilar to my frustration with Pottermore. Mostly my feeling with Fantastic Beasts so far is a lot like my feelings for Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: it’s beautiful, it’s amazing, but who cares? I don’t care about Newt Scamander and I don’t care about Gellert Grindelwald, especially if we’re going to continue to avoid Albus Dumbledore’s sexuality in telling this story. I wouldn’t mind all of this extra history if I had the history I want. I want Marauders! I want Founders! We know more about the founding of Ilvermorny than the founding of the school we actually care about! If we already had the stories that we’re all deeply fascinated by, I think we’d be more invested in these additional stories. Instead, the Fantastic Beasts series feels like a distraction so that Jo doesn’t have to tell the Marauders and Founders stories. Plus, including the abuser Johnny Depp in the cast is disgusting and infuriating.
Now we come to the ultimate insult to the Potter fandom: Cursed Child. I almost don’t know where to begin with this one. It is unfathomable to me that Jo, who cares so much about her characters, signed off on this and said it can be considered canon. There is just so much wrong here. The characterization of our existing characters, particular the Golden Trio, is so off. Hermione is a shadow of her former self; Ron seems to be based on the film interpretation rather than the book; and while portraying Harry as a misguided father is certainly an interesting choice and could be argued as a plausibility given the fact that he grew up without James and with Vernon, it is certainly the sadder choice, especially considering the wonderful father figures he’s had in Lupin, Sirius, Hagrid, Arthur, and even Dumbledore. It seems like this character choice is only there to serve up drama with Albus.
Next up, perhaps the most absurd piece of the Cursed Child puzzle, is Delphini Diggory. She might as well be named Ebony Darkness Dementia Raven Way. Delphi is the worst part of the entire Harry Potter universe. Her very existence makes no sense - not only would Voldemort have absolutely no need or want for a child and no need or want to have sex with Bellatrix, it also doesn’t fit into the timeline as far as I know. On top of that, she is so illogical as a character, underdeveloped in every way and uncompelling as a villain.
The story itself is aggravating because it seems to be entirely manufactured as fan service while simultaneously letting the fans down. The time turner storyline is clearly all about allowing the play to show us scenes and characters from the original books, yet the scenes we go to are the Triwizard challenges where very little actually happens to advance the Potter story. It’s such an odd choice. And so much centers around the Diggory family, who we hardly know anything about and it’s not like we really learn any new information about them except that apparently if Cedric hadn’t died he would have become a Death Eater, which is so absolutely ridiculous. They clearly just wanted to show us some of the old characters and that’s where this story came from. Even in the present story we see how fan service affected the writing - Jo has said the McGonagall wouldn’t be headmistress by the time Albus got there, and yet here she is. I haven’t even touched on the concept of returning to the night James and Lily died and forcing Harry to watch this trauma or the various stupidities of the alternate timelines like Ron and Hermione’s loveless fates if they aren’t married to one another.
Also, I have to mention that Jo establishes some very clear laws of magic that this story just decides do not apply. If we all just believe hard enough, we can make Harry look like Voldemort! I know there were other cases of this, but it’s been a while since I’ve read the play so I can’t quite remember them off the top of my head. I could say though that this is probably the aspect that makes the whole thing feel so much like fanfiction (along with Delphi). The Potter world has rules and Jo sticks to them very carefully. The play’s disregard for these rules is sloppy.
The final issue I have to discuss regarding Cursed Child is, obviously, the relationship between Scorpius and Albus. It's been discussed to death, I know, but any criticism of the play is incomplete without mentioning it. These two boys are great characters on their own. Albus living in his father's shadow is compelling. Scorpius in particular is a wonderful character. I also have to applaud the choice to sort these two protagonists into Slytherin, finally breaking the mold I talked about earlier. But the queer baiting in this play is blatant and painful. Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't forced Scorpius into asking out Rose at the end of the play. I get it, fourteen-year-olds don't always understand their sexuality, and maybe you could even say attaching Rose to Scorpius is part of that, but the play certainly doesn't imply it that way at all. It's particularly hurtful because Jo is amazingly progressive in her politics and actively talks about LGBT rights, feminism, Black Lives Matter, and so on, but she does not demonstrate all of these powerful values in her books, especially when it comes to LGBT characters. The only character she has identified as anything other than straight is Dumbledore, and even that is never mentioned in the literature, and if you know it's there it's still  only implied as a tragic barely-there subplot. The wizarding world struggles with diversity across the board. Jo's made steps. Casting black actresses as Hermione and Rose is absolutely incredible. We're starting to see characters of color appear in the Fantastic Beasts series, although way too slowly in my opinion. But despite all of her politics, Jo is dragging her feet when it comes to LGBT representation, and denying us even an implied future relationship between Albus and Scorpius is just... frustrating. I could go on and on about the details of their relationship throughout the play and how the writing clearly indicates feelings between them, but others who know the text more thoroughly have already been there and done that.
Basically it all boils down to this: Jo is giving us an overload of information that we either don’t want or don’t care about and denying us the stuff that we do. Maybe she should have quit while she was ahead. Goodness knows the Potter fans have enough creativity to fill in their own blanks. I can only hope that as Pottermore and the Fantastic Beasts series continue to grow, maybe she can do better.
Did you ever arrive to the answer on common grounds and differences The Black Mask and The Augurey would have with each other, spoiler-free or otherwise? If yes, may we read about it here?
I have been thinking about this question for a good while now. I am sorry if what I have come up with disappoints your expectations (I ended up not finding too much interesting to me personally in the matter in the end), but still, I said I was gonna answer this, so I will:
There are, of course, some pretty obvious parallels between Goro and Delphi. They’re both the secret children of very terrible men, desperately are trying to “live up to” something for some reason or another, pretend to be allies to the protagonists and seem to be forming something of a genuine bond with them, but in the end betray them for the sake of a bigger scheme they’ve been working on ever since before meeting the heroes of the story. Also, they both use birds as their trademark symbols and their mental stability is more than just questionable in both cases.
However, this is where the similarities end. Their respective goals and motivations are about as different as can be.
Let’s take, for example, their relationship to their fathers.
In Goro’s case, he’s been aware from young age on that not only is his father Shido, but he also abandoned him, leaving his mother with the shame and disgrace that eventually led to her killing herself and also left her unable to give Goro the love he would have needed to not grow up into a total douche. Goro has always resented his father for that, and all his motivations and goals in the game are geared towards not just simply earning Shido’s approval, but towards manipulating him, goading him and finally taking horrible revenge on him. Goro wants nothing as much as to see Shido suffer just like he’s made Goro and his mother suffer.
Delphi is pretty much the exact opposite from that. Not only did she know nothing of her heritage for the longest time and was raised by an abusive foster parent instead (which, honestly, makes her more of a mirror/foil to Harry from the same franchise than to anyone else), when she eventually *did* learn about who her father was, she came to idolize him, desiring nothing more than to live up to his legacy and restore it and, eventually, meet him and unite her powers with his. If she wants to take revenge against anything, it’s the world she feels has denied her the “princess"-like status she feels she deserves as the daughter of the Dark Lord. Her main motivations, however, are devotion towards her father.
Also much unlike Goro, who actually does end up feeling a semblance of friendship towards the party, Delphi’s bond with Al and Scorpius was entirely fake and she shows no sign of remorse upon breaking it.
Both of them might be very cold, calculating and determined in manipulating their outside image to reach their eventual goals, but they are ultimately very different characters.
(Also, I feel the need to add this for context, so excuse me; The Cursed Child is not exactly one of my favorite stories in recent years, and Delphini’s character did not help my lacking investment when I was reading it at all. So maybe I’m missing something about her in my analysis here. She’s just not a character I care for a lot.)
Scorpion “King” and how he came to be
This might or might not be me doing worldbuilding, but the subject might be of interest so I thought I’d share my musings.
In the Voldemort AU, we see a Draco keeping his head down, going on with the flow and being involved in truly revolting stuff, but from what little we see, his mind/heart aren’t on the task. He refuse to be associated with the violent “idiots”, is worried sick about Scorpius going off the regime’s rails and he clearly still loves Astoria.
Nothing suggest Astoria wasn’t almost as her primary timeline self, even if she most certainly kept every eventual pro-muggle/muggleborn ideas buried and shielded.
Neither of them looks as someone who might have raised the violent, cruel person alt!Scorpius is. He has the whole school at his orders, scares the hell out of his mates and had the idea of imprisoning and torturing fellow children/teenagers, this isn’t something you do if you just try to fly under the radar.
His parents are unlikely, so who made him be?
“Normal” Death Eaters are out of question. Narcissa and Lucius? Will they trump their son’s way to raise his heir, try to influence their grandson so badly?
I remember that moment in GoF where Voldemort said Lucius was once used to lead muggle-hunts raids, so there’s something, but still. His grandson, with his son and wife in the way. Lucius probably lead raids again in this timeline, but I have a difficult time see him hurt Draco by twisting Scorpius so much.
Two theories I’m inclined on, under cut to keep the post not so long on dashes:
First: the rest of the extended family, by active influence or symbiosis by environment.
An alive and active Bellatrix, Rodolphus and (who the hell knows, he’s such a irrelevant non-existence) Rabastan? They fit the viciousness, the evil, the whole “trumping and twisting children” (CC say hi) quite well. Also freaking Voldemort is Scorpius kinda uncle by his once-removed cousin?
And Bella conveniently have a child 8 years older than Scorpius I have no doubt she’d have molded into a dependant and father-approval-starving but nonetheless cruel person, as we in fact get glimpses of.
Depending on the timing and when Delphi’s parentage would’ve been revealed in this AU, Scorpius could’ve been the younger kid idolizing and copying the older, cool cousin, especially if they grew up together and were close, as Draco and Astoria couldn’t dare oppose the relationship even if they saw were it was heading.
    Second: it was revenge, and mostly against Astoria
This is, admittely, more based on headcanons than anything else, but I’ll try nonetheless.
In the immediate aftermath of victory and for quite some time, I cannot picture Bellatrix staying quietly at “home” raising Delphi. Nor I can see her or Voldemort having any interest in the baby/child when she’s too young and a complete nuisance instead of an asset. Years 0-7 at least, and even after then Voldemort’d have to dump her somewhere most of the time, you can’t bring your less than 10 daughter to your enemies pires’ or around Europe, can you?
Big cousin Draco (who’d once been mocked with babysitting duties...) and young wife are right there, though, and they don’t seem to have a lot to do, and by young they’ll have less experience and are more likely to be scared into obedience, keeping quiet and take care.
But with Astoria being her usual self, she could’ would’ve been a positive influence, even by just keeping Delphi away from the worst. Of course, nothing too out of line would’ve been mentioned in front of her, but a loving influence or two would’ve been enough to shape her in a way her father was probably not pleased of once he wanted to begin the training himself.
By then the damn Greengrass girl has ruined his perfect blanc state weapon, he lost more time than planned to work and re-shaping Delphini as he wanted and when little Malfoy is born... well, he’s going to pay it back and the child will have his attention: tutoring will be fun and there’s no one to oppose him.
...
Excuse me, I just made myself sad :(
