one thing about tumblr that I don't see anyone talk about even with all the discussion about horrible changes is what happens when someone blocks you.

how it used to be is that you could still go to their profile, and would be able to report them or block them back. but you couldn't see any of their posts. and if one of their posts did happen to show up on your dash through reblogs, you couldn't like or reblog it. of course, it wouldn't tell you any of this. it would just give an error message or load indefinitely pretending like something was happening, rather than just saying "hey this person has you blocked, so you can't interact with them"

now it's a lot worse. idk when it was, but some change made it so now you can't even click on their blog at all.

now you might say "what's the big deal? why would anyone even want to go to a blog that had you blocked if you already couldn't see any of their posts in the first place?" and while true, there was at least something you could do on that blank blog. blocking them back and reporting them.

here's how it worked in the past. if someone sent me a rude message or tagged me in a dumb post and then blocked me, I could simply go to their blog (which would be blank for me) and block and report them.

now, if somone does that, I cannot click on their blog. in fact, because I can't block or report them, they can keep sending me horrible things, or even do the same to others without any fear of consequences. in order to actually be free of them, I'd have to go onto the desktop dashboard which a lot of people don't use, go to blog settings, scroll all the way down to blocked accounts, and manually type in their url exactly and add them to my list of blocked accounts.

and also, there is no way to report them. if someone is being racist or antisemitic or homophobic, and they have you blocked, you cannot report them at all.

I'm not going to say that this change was made by the sympathizers on staff specifically to protect terfs and white supremacists who spend all their time harassing and stalking and abusing people online while making it harder for their victims to protect themselves or even make those people face any consequences for their actions at all...

but the fact that this change happened around the same time as the whole "scorched earth / partyjockers" situation where staff entirely disintegrated a post and all it's reblogs because op said that one of the people on staff was a hairy potty fan, it's a bit too suspicious for me to call it a coincidental change.

Motive: I'm writing a choose your own adventure story, while the big choices will lead to different chapters with each outcome, I'd like to add small nods and references to past stuff, just small sentence-long changes that don't need me to write a new chapter that's mostly the same as another

Showcase: so I've put each case in a different color for clarity's sake, but they'd all be the same color—same for the line breaks, I've added them in for clarity's sake in here, this can definitely be used within a paragraph

I fully do not believe that I am aroace anymore. I still do not have a reason to do so besides just vibes, however, it has started feeling wrong. I don't know what I am, but I don't think it's aroace, probably still aspec in some form, but I don't know. Probably not gonna change url or anything, at least not until I have more solid proof other than just vibes, but idk, it just doesn't feel right anymore. Calling myself aroace just feels wrong, in the same way it used to feel wrong when I considered myself agender like 8 months ago or however long it's been now. sometimes I wonder if I should change my URL. like. I still love dmcl yes absolutely!! but. the Tellius side of me, the Shinon side of me, has been very noisy! and while I feel like my URL is my Brand™ at this point (that's not meant to be a Tellius pun I swear), I also feel like I need a proper Tellius/Shinon rebrand bc I sat there thinking the other day abt how I am pretty sure Shinon is just. my all time favorite FE character LMAO. like. idk.

I think it's bc Tellius is my Home Base™, but I think that, even while Dimitri is still otherwise my big fave, that Shinon might have sneaked past him at some point when I took a fandom break. like. idk man. it's not untrue nor a secret that Tellius has my favorite FE games LOL but I think maybe it could be that the dust has settled since I've been away from Houses/Hopes for quite a while now and Dimitri isn't the character actively on my mind? so my natural preferences are more sturdy again?

The problem is it's just too long! And what would people call me anyways? There isn't an easy nickname I can attach to it that would work (I'm not about to let people call me Key or Board, and certainly not Jam). If I can't just be "keyboardjam" (which was also taken btw) I'd have to add more to an already lengthy word. I whipped up the name "reigrace" because I think it sounds pretty, and I assumed it was unique lol. It sounds distinguishable, at least. I have thought about it, but idk a way to merge "keyboardjam" (a cool looking word that fits my chaotic vibe and tendency to ramble) with "reigrace" without being impersonal, convoluted, or too long. "keyboardjam" was always a goofy little placeholder and so it just looked like baggage at the end of my "real" name. I mean I'd cringe in embarrassment imagining people tagging me and having to add this placeholder at the end of my url because I couldn't think of anything better 😭

Now here's the thing: my 5-year plan.

I've always wanted to be an art blog and someday I want to be good and efficient enough to do commissions. And I mean who wants to commission art from someone named keyboardjam 😭? What does keyboard-jamming have to do with art 😭? Could you even trust someone with that name with your art? It just sounds to careless in that context, yk? It just feels so random and unnecessary 😭

But! Fret not. My name on ao3 is still Keyboardjam (or maybe it's keyboardjamming? I don't remember- I haven't posted on there Yet) because there actually is a connection there, it fits my chaotic vibe, and I think it would be memorable/funny to read a really serious fic by someone who claims to be keyboardjamming lol. And! If I ever down the road get enough attention/demand towards my fics Reigrace-keyboardjam will totally return in the form of a side blog.

(I also want to open up a reigrace-tunes side blog for music discussion and a reigrace-art side blog just for my drawings in maybe a year, but I digress).

Basically, I'm at the genesis of my blog/online presence and I'm trying to plan what would make the most sense later on. I also have to finalize a decision because I've already changed my url 3 times within a year 😭. But ALSO I feel like it's too late to completely abandon Reigrace because she's cute, she's a vibe, I'm attached to her, and that's who all my moots/followers know me as now. The only downsides of Reigrace are that others exist (although I don't think any would conflict with my art commissioning/cause confusion to potential purchasers) and also people might not know how to pronounce "rei" (the "ei" makes the "A" sound so it's pronounced like Rey or like a ray of sunshine)

This is just hard for me because I'm so fickle and I always change my interests, so I don't know what I will still vibe with in 5 years. Up until now I've only ever used my actual irl government name (or a variation of it) as for usernames so. This is uncharted territory for me and that's for a reason.

tl;dr- I have a lot of feelings. I'm very insecure about my inability to come up with a unique and snappy url. Usernames are the bane of my existence. I've decided reigrace is my digital artist persona. I'm trying to think ahead. Keyboardjam isn't dead.

hello. i really enjoy your content, but i have to say i'm kinda disappointed on you still being a ts fan. this woman knows what disney does and yet she still gave them the rights, meaning she either doesn't care or actively supports the genocide. or maybe she decided to turn her morals off because money is more important. not to mention how she consistently associates herself with questionable people and how a person literally died in one of her shows on brazil and she gave zero fucks. this woman is not a good person and there are no excuses to being her fan anymore.

no, i fully understand what you're saying and where you're coming from. over the last like. idk year and a half? ive been pretty vocal about my disappointment, distaste, and disagreement with a multitude of the choices she's made lately. i 100% agree that her silence on the subject of palestinian genocide (as well as many other human rights/social causes) is at best a sign of apathy and at worst a sign of support. especially when miss americana was all about her wanting to be more outspoken and be an activist. that all feels so incredibly performative now -- and has for a while. a lot of things that she's said and done since midnights, which is when i became more active in the tumblr swiftie community, have left a bad taste in my mouth for her as a person.

like i said, i genuinely agree with what you're saying. the only thing i take issue with is that she didn't care that a fan died at her show. she donated money to the fan's family and took time to meet them. regardless of my many issues with her, i do think she can be an empathetic person and i don't think that she just straight up didn't care that someone died before her show. it's one of those things (of which there are many) where we'll never know her true thoughts bc she doesn't talk about things. which is frustrating in itself.

now that's not the point of your message, so feel free to write that off as a digression. i strongly disagree with her making yet another version of the eras tour movie and hosting it on disney+. I'm personally boycotting disney+ and have been for a while. I don't even intend on watching the new version and like the vast majority of everything I gif, that shit is pirated -- that's how I watched the original release of the movie. obviously my consumption/boycotting is just one person compared to blondie, who has influence over millions, who could make real change if she spoke out against genocide.

what's the origin of your username?

it's a photography term for the blurry/out of focus range you get from a camera lens. When i was getting my degree I thought the fact that the term existed was too hilarious so I made it my URL back in 2018 I think. It's stuck but I can't think of anything else to rename my blog so I will forever be a confusing range of glass lenses

If you work, what's your profession?

I'm an auditor for a small loan company. Mainly we look over renewals and new loans to make sure necessary documents are sent in and that their bank transactions are received. It feels like a lot of knitpicky busy work most of the time so I've begun to get really bored with work 😅

If you could have any job you wish, what would you have?

I don't want to work. I want to magically win 2 billion dollars in the lottery and then fuck off somewhere so I can do my hobbies and maybe learn an instrument.

if I actually had to choose a job and if have solid income with Healthcare benefits I'd work in theater. I love being a part of the stage crew. I did it in high school and it was really fun

Knitting? I'd like to think im pretty good for having done it for 10 years. (Though I still have a lot to learn)

what's the origin of your blog title?

(i also took this to mean url because like, do i ever look at anyone's blog title? no) my first blog was monimonimoon because I liked the moon and moni was a bts related thing that went with it? and monimoon was taken? then when i remade, i wanted to keep the moni as i'd started being called that, and i thought monilogues (monologues) was a kind of fun idea-- I'm not exactly writing monologues here, but idk. the hyphen is because, ofc, monilogues is taken by a blog that's not been updated for 11 years (:

i.......... dk that i have an answer to this one because idc? like i'm not that interested in 'fandom'. i suppose, really, actually, the answer is mcr because that was my first real fandom and i have friends to this day that i met on an mcr forum almost twenty years ago, but like... idk i know that i do technically participate in fandom, but i'm not interested in it as a concept or as any part of my identity (i don't refer to myself as army, or stay, or atiny or anything like that because... i don't care...)

18. I actually used to RP on two other sites, before moving to Tumblr. When I RPed on the last one, I also started an RP blog on Tumblr and found the environment here a lot better than on that site. (You'd have to ask people sometimes just to use a FC, and I found that weird as the person isn't the FC themself, just using them for a character, so why do I need their permission, you know?) When I started on Tumblr, it was a lot more chill and I could pretty much RP whatever muse I wanted. Not to say that Tumblr is without its issues, it definitely has some of those. But comparatively, it was a lot more laid-back at the time. Now, of course, it's not /as/ chill as it was when I started, but still more so than the other site I RPed on. RPers ended up having to leave that site because it changed completely. IDK where they all ended up, probably different places. But if anyone from Hyves is on Tumblr, hello. It's me. :D My longest lasting muse on there was Luna Lovegood from HP (yeah, that obsession didn't age well. I know. Ugh @ JKR. ) And I also had some of my OCs on there. Diana Howland, Camille Barker, Lydia Newbury. I also used to RP Cinna from THG and plenty of other muses. Of course, Multimuse accounts weren't a thing on that site so I'd have to create a new account for each muse and boy was that something. Of course, when I first came to Tumblr it was the same but luckily multis became a thing and I jumped on that ship as soon as possible. <3

Wow, I rambled a bit for that second one. Sorry about that. Had a lot to say I guess. But basically the TLDR version is that I used to RP on other sites before Tumblr , and when I was still RPing on the other site, I also created a Tumblr RP blog as I knew that was a thing too, and the other site was changing, so just in case. I don't remember who my first muse on Tumblr was, though. Think it might've been Clara Oswald from Doctor Who, but I'm not entirely sure. (I want to bring her back but want to rewatch her seasons of DW first.)

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

episode 5 was trending on here and a mutual who abandoned tumblr almost completely suddenly came back to reblog like 15 rooftop kiss gifsets in a row, scream in tags and then disappear again which made me go huh. what's all this then. lemme check out the first episode. and then by the time episode 6 aired a few days later i'd been already all caught up (can't remember exactly but since i have a tendency towards binge-watching i have a suspicion i watched all five episodes nearly in one sitting). for some personal reasons i'd rather not get into i never got a chance to create anything back then when it was airing and after, and so here i am finally joining the fandom more than a year later!

I'm 100% with you on why tf are people shocked but actually I don't think he's doing demonic things at all lol. Maybe I am weird but the desire to slash some rich people's car tires and the pranks and minor inconveniences he causes are all harmless just as the crimes he commits (stealing diamonds, helping to dig up bodies, sell some moonshine). Demonic, at least for me, would be to commit acts of cruelty or harm/hurt people and he never does any of these things (quite the opposite, he prevents them. He saves goats and kids and young women who want to off themselves). I'd call it mischief? Idk I feel that's why it's so funny and charming; he's supposed to do Evil but he's not Evil so he slashes tires, causes traffic jams, glues coins to the sidewalk, and needs to cope via drinking when he witnesses cruelty of any kind (the Spanish Inquisition in the book, Caligula in the series). And collecting souls fits perfectly into that pattern, as you said, it's what he does, it's his job, and as I said, we see he would never hurt or harm anyone - hell, even the paintballers all have miraculous escapes - so of course he wouldn't hurt any of these souls. He just collects them and then sorts them alphabetically when he stress-cleans. That's what I meant. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to woobify him because I love that side of him, I just don't think any of the things he does are bad. Just mischievous.

I hope I don't come off as rude or trolling, that's not my intention at all, I enjoy talking about these things and your blog and a few others are the only places I can do that (nobody I know irl loves Good Omens as much as I do, sadly).

And yeah, I agree that most of the things he does do not fit under our binary understanding of good vs. evil—which is, in part, the point the show is trying to make.

We have a demon who isn't all that good at actually being evil and an angel who is an egocentric asshole who sees humans as casualties in his games (e.g. the Ball, the fact that he "forgot" to change a gun into a water gun and someone got shot, probably killed, the dove he "accidentally" kills, the fact that he doesn't actually care about anyone except himself and is incapable of being kind without making it about himself, I could go on but you get the gist).

Crowley's understanding of and relationship with humanity is multi-faceted and built on both compassion and seeing himself reflected in them. They too got punished severely for a small mistake, kicked out of Eden, thrown into suffering, and generally are a mirror for Crowley to see himself in.

Sure, there's still a fundamental detachment because he's not human, he's an immortal celestial being, but that by itself does not change how he treats the humans around him.

His soul collection probably consists of souls freely given—he doesn't make anyone do anything, he just sweetens the available options or opens someone's eyes since I don't think every human soul he "collects" ends up in his personal collection.

Plus book!Crowley and show!Crowley are two different characters, same thing goes for Aziraphale.

On top of that, we do not actually know whether his Soul collection causes any harm to said Souls. If the alternative is hell, then spending eternity on some dude's shelf is like very mediocre purgatory, and I'd definitely choose that over being tortured.
