Does it bother you how much jargon other people have made up about our experience as queer people?

#my big mouth #like wtf when did 'gender affirming' become a category of thing #i know the idea and the value #im not questioning that #but like #there's so much sterile-feeling corpo jargon made up to describe us and it make me feel gross #can't i just be capital g Gay and dress the way i want?#can't it just be clothes?#does it have to be 'gender affirming clothes'?#its feels more like people are trying to 'seem' like they are supportive wihtout actually caring but wanting to reap whatever rewards #come from 'seeming' like you're supprotive of the queers #i thing maybe thats why i vibe with the people reclaiming fag and dyke and queer and all those 'nasty' words #like #fuck man #those don't feel sanitized #they feel like they cannot be sanitized #because like #im a person #im not /meant/ to be a pleasant corporate affirmation #i don't want to be on a motivational poster #i want to be a fully fleshed out person #whihc means im ugyly and pretty in my own way and rude sometimes even when i try to be kind #im a real ass human being #so why should my 'identity' which is at this point to me ALSO a sanitized word #be something that MUST be easily digestible and pleasant and something that corporations feel like they can advertise around #like i think thats the core of my issue #the jargon doesn't exist to 'be inclusive' of anyone #it exists to sanitize a very diverse category of experiences so it can be said on television w/o pissing off the investors and advertisers #maybe im gonna take up a less digestible title #maybe i just live my weird little life and only explain if people ask and don't need to have a 'name for it'

"You're lying," Damian said.

And honestly, Tim had to laugh, "I don't know why you think I am. I asked to keep a cat, Alfred said no, and that was that."

"But that..." Damian furrowed his brow. Tim's voice was taking on a different tenor than usual. Something a bit more strained. "He let me have a cat."

"Yeah," Tim said, cringing when his voice cracked on the word, before trying to play it off with a casual shrug, "you're his son."

And Damian was fooled for a moment. He had his mouth half open to reply that he was the blood son. He was different. Superior.

But he paused upon the fact that Tim hadn't just made that point for him, he'd given him an example.

The cat.

Tim had wanted one and been refused. Damian had wanted one and had been obliged.

He had wanted a dragon and been obliged.

But Tim couldn't have a cat, and Damian, whenever he asserted his superiority, had thought he was lying.

He was lying in a way. They were the same. Tim was a well-respected associate of his father, but...

You're his son.

But that didn't mean as much as Damian assumed it did.

Damian assessed his options before doing something he usually avoided. He swallowed his pride, looked at Tim, and said, "I...don't fully understand what your place is here."

Tim gave him a smile filled with enough sympathy to make something ugly roll in Damian's gut. "Me neither, kid. Me neither."

The moment he stepped into his apartment, water met his feet, and Dick held back a suffering groan. His apartment was flooded.

He is sore, tired, and just wanted to lay down. Sleep.

Plans changed, apparently, looking at the water. Taking measured breaths, he makes his way to his small bedroom, taking out all his vigilante stuff and packed them in a bag, thankfully dry. It was annoying, but what could he do?

Certainly not go back to the mansion.

With everything stored away, the bag was slightly overpacked, it didn't dether him as he returned to the hallway just as his landlord came. Others were already outside complaining about their own flats and Dick left for now, he would... handle this after he got rest.

Dick doesn't ponder long on who to call, not really. Jason is out of question, Bruce isn't even considered.

He didn't want to leave Bludhaven... which meant there really was only one option.

"Hey Danny? My flat got flooded, could I...—"

"I didn't even finish asking—"

"What—"

"Danny, I'll be over in... 10, thank you, really."

His coworker had an enthusiastic response to his request, Dick felt unbearably fond of it. Him.

Or, Danny is a Detective in Bludhaven that occasionally visits Gotham.

The thing is, Dick figured it out pretty quickly when he started working in Bludhaven, that Danny was genuine in his business.

Not corrupted, not bought, not fake.

It made him a big target in the city. One that Officer Grayson and Nightwing made sure to protect. He, admittedly, admired the man at the police station quite a bit.

i find some people really do not understand grief (end post) but specifically grief for really old people who die of natural causes there is this idea that it doesn't make sense to mourn them because they lived a long life and they passed peacefully and their time was simply over and all of those things are true, but a good and quiet death after a long and happy life is not something that removes or lessens grief. it is the ideal grief, yes, it makes it less complicated, but even the most uncomplicated grief is still death and still has the potential to be a life-changing loss. every death of a loved one sits in me like a ring in a tree trunk. this notion incorrectly identifies grief as 'this person died when they should not have' when you can know in your bones that someone died at the right time, that they were ready and wanted to go, and still grieve intensely for them. grief is the knowledge that they are not coming back, that everything you shared exists only now in your memories. even if a person died well - when you have lost people to 'bad' deaths you really appreciate a 'good' death - they are still never coming back, and that is still something you must carry with you for the rest of your life. there is no manner of dying or age of the person who died when that becomes less painful. people want to believe there is a way to lose someone forever that won't break your heart and that is just not true.

#not enough value is put into the lives of old people full stop and i know thats where some of this stems from #the idea that a 94 year old can be as intensely loved and cherished and irreplaceable as a young person is unfathomable to some people

We all know that the reason why Bruce Wayne isn't religiously Jewish is because dc are cowards, but also because many of the community itself is cowards. I personally believe it comes from a lack of knowledge about what it even means to be religious because most of the community is Christian or culturally Christian. So as someone that would probably be considered not religious by Christians, but Religious by most other Jewish people, I think that Bruce Wayne fits in this section of being Jewish.

Bruce can't go to the Synagogue often because of the whole being Batman stuff, but he still goes on the high holidays when he can. He celebrates with the Kane family as well! And Kate would obviously understand if he couldn't come because she's Batwoman! Give me a Bruce Wayne says Yiddish curses. Give me a Batman that has a bunch of Chanukkiot that are just so pretty because they are rich and definitely have a ton. Give me Batfamily shabbat dinners when they are able to. Rest days on Saturday for the Jewish members when they are more members in the Batfam to make it work (and it being a mitzvah when he does have to be Batman on Shabbat because its a mitzvah to save a life). Give me Mezuzot on every entryway. Give me a Bruce Wayne who inherited his mother's seder plates and actually uses them. Give me a Bruce Wayne that says stuff like kein ayin hara before giving good news! Give me a confused Dick Grayson when Bruce insults him (its actually a compliment, but to ward against the evil eye you will say the opposite of what you mean) and then Bruce having to explain after he realizes that Dick has no idea why he just insulted him. Give me a Batman that follows Jewish values (more than he canonically does)

Just because someone ins't actively involved within a wider community of that Religion doesn't mean they aren't Religious! Or at least don't give me a culturally Jewish Bruce Wayne that doesn't do any of this. Thats just you stripping away all the Jewish parts of him.

Bruce Wayne is Jewish and you can't just ignore that
