The One Where Sans Tells It Like It Is. (Or: The One Where Sans Is Number One Dunckle) by marauding_bagel (General Audiences, Complete)

When Toriel asked him to attend the meeting in her place for one night he thought it wouldn't be a big deal. Turns out Sans could not have been more wrong.

A bit of a short fic, there's a surprising lack of fics with this concept! Even still, I like the way the author exectues the idea! I loved reading comics similar to this fic when I was younger, so this threw me back a bit!

I enjoy the way the author writes the characters, & how they have them interact with each other!

Spoilers ahead!

I really like how the author includes some of the reactions from the unamed parents also at the meeting, having mentions of nods of agreement & cheering when Sans insults Helen's brownies!

Scott Smajor (cc) is such a good story teller actually and the common themes he uses in his storylines captivate me. I think we should talk about how good he is at Themes more often. If I wasn't so tired I'd write essays.

Stanford never became friends with Fiddleford.

Instead he got himself a different small friend group who cares a lot about him. At least about the Ford he pretended to be in college.

A kind, soft spoken formerly bullied genius who researches very dull stuff in Oregon and definitely not anything weird. Their Ford would never break any rules or ignore safety measures [unlike that other student they heard about during their college years.]

And then Ford stops answering their calls and loses his grant. 

It’s time for an intervention and they start pestering Ford with letters and calls until he finally agrees to meet them at a science convention, but he’ll take his brother with him.

They’re relieved! Ford is with Shermie! They like Shermie! It's a good thing that Ford still has one brother who isn't a good for nothing selfish criminal who destroyed his entire future!

If they ever get their hands on Ford’s evil twin they’ll make sure he’ll regret ever messing with their friend. Ford is too nice for revenge. They aren’t.

Meanwhile at the not-yet Mystery Shack, the Stans freshly survived their own angsty canon divergent tale of two stans AU and locked Bill out of Ford's mind like a week ago.

Stan: I don’t know how long Ford will keep me around but this will be good for him. He needs some friends to take care of him after I inevitably get kicked out again!

Ford: I only agreed to this because Stan insisted and I still haven’t found a way to thank him and apologize. I hope all my “friends” die in a fire.

commoragh is without question my favourite part of the game. with the area made of endless platforms, stairs and levels you are always moving upwards, digging yourself out of your grave (you literally start the quest in the pile of bodies at the very bottom). this layered structure where every area has its own particular brand of horror and torment and its own "sinners" is reminiscent in its logic with the classic concept of the nine circles of hell. i mean commoragh is functionally hell. you still have a camp there. if the previous chapter ends with the rogue trader on top of the world, commoragh strips you of everything. you are less than insignificant. your body is failing you. every single one of your companions is living through their personal nightmare. you could never imagine seeing them quite as broken until you do. and honestly you are not doing any better. you still have to put yourself together and drag each other to safety. and the importance of commoragh for romance cannot be underestimated. what can be more romantic than forced vulnerability and having no choice but to rely on each other to survive.

Charles representation enjoyed here again! I’ve not read much of the comics bc I can’t afford them but I just rewatched FC and I was wondering if Charles being paralyzed is the same in the comics (Erik doing it)? Do they often include that part of his story?

hello my inquisitive friend :] !!!! im more than happy to give some more info bout the origins charles' disability in the comics- to the best of my abilities that is !

while they don't include an origin for his paralysis in EVERY story/run, as far as i know there are three major ways charles loses his mobility (though like yourself, i havent read many of the comics so far, so i could be missing a few. this is the part where i invite readers to submit additional info if im leaving any out)

the very first manner of charles losing his legs was relayed to us in the original X-Men run of the 60's in issue #20

(X-Men #20: "I, Lucifer!")

before magneto was regarded as charles' main adversary there was the extraterrestrial lucifer (who sported the same color scheme, ironically. it wasnt as though lucifer came before magneto so it was definitely A Choice..) who charles would have a semi-reoccurring feud with for a bit early on in the series. during their first encounter, charles would corner lucifer in his lair only to have a stone slab dropped on him, disabling his legs indefinitely

the second manner in which charles loses his mobility- and the time where erik is the most involved and is most deliberate- comes from. Our Favorite Universe in 2001: The Ultimate Universe

(Ultimate X-Men #1: "The Tomorrow People")

as is typically how charles x magneto team-up arcs go, while charles and erik worked together for some time it wasn't very long before erik wanted to pursue more Dramatic Measures for mutantkind. and As This Story Goes, amidst trying to escape the savage lands sanctuary he and erik built, erik drove a metal spike through charles' spine, leading to his disability in this verse

lastly, we have the House of M- or more specifically its prequel miniseries, Civil War: House of M- verse in 2008:

similar to Ultimate and the movies, this is another timeline where charles and erik team up. this time however, charles is more willing to follow erik's ideas after seeing the horrors of genosha upon reading the mind of a mutant who escaped the island, and the two seek to liberate the other mutants left behind. unfortunately, during their mission, a sentinel collapses the building charles and co. are infiltrating, leading to the loss of his legs

Y'know, when Kon ‘died’, do you think a grieving Tim could have mistaken Danny for his best friend? Do you think that, in a moment of desperation and exhaustion, he might've kidnapped a floating Danny in an attempt to bring Kon home? And when he realized he kidnapped a random civilian, do you think he still kept Danny for a while as a replacement for Kon?

Do you think Danny got tired of being called 'Conner' after the first week but was too distressed himself to correct Tim? Trying to leave or tell the fellow teen his name was Danny was obviously sending the kid into a spiral. He seemed to think Danny was the dead spirit of his best friend. Maybe if he played along, this Conner guy would show back up?

Hopefully, before Tim completes his cloning research. Danny's been doing everything he can to sabotage the equipment, but even with ghost powers on his side, Tim is a smart person. Every time Danny sets him back one step, Tim takes two steps forward. And since he's well outside of his haunt, Danny is starting to feel weak and ill from lack of ectoplasm. He's running out of time.

Do you think Kon would feel upset that his best friend replaced him?

A mod for tech that thr Jones boys might end up inventing(?) Is 'RT Solar Flare Shields' (And possibly RT Fuses to soak the Zzzzts!) I could see them developing the solar flare shield as a gift for Al so he doesn't deactivate everytime there's a glare.

Funnily enough, Mechi's mum/mom/ma Squashbug has a burning passion for cooking and is something around level ten in cooking ability, along with the gourmand trait. I'm sure she'll have some very harsh words for her son and his newly discovered twin (and triplet, if we ever resurrect Lansa) once she makes it to Sparks.

Yamka and Lapu are probably putting up with a lot of fretting from her as they search the planet—she also has the neurotic trait, so she's especially anxious about her baby.

What if there was a black market for cybugs, much like how we have to deal with that crap with irl animals, and mooooost of the public doesn't know about it but over time some peeps little buggie buddies are disappearing, and others notice their favorite local but wild buggie buddies are disappearing.

But after some digging, someone finds some info that reveals the whole cybug black market thing and now there's sooooo many pissed humans because how dare people do this to their buggie buddies.

Also plot twist. Soundwave and his kids are actually displaced from their own region because of this and took to living in human houses because they aren't suited to the local environment so it was their best chance for survival.

its probably not something id get into with what i make for the au but also. YEAH ABSOLUTELY. a black market almost definitely exists.

things like that would also add to the strain on Praxian populations... i imagine that cybugs would be suited ti a wide range of environments but also being displaced like that absolutely would impact them :(...

I do have an ig but I only have the link in my carrd/strawpage since I made it ages ago, doesn't have the same name/kind of presence, and I try to keep it free of anything ship related since my family, professors and coursemates follow me there. Not that I have anything to hide or that I wouldn't openly show them my ship art if they wanted to see it, but it just feels kind of awkward to all but directly show to people I see irl who aren't my close friends who I know are into that kind of thing, y'know?
