Ianthe lore established so far: One of Madame Spiceberry's love interests, though it seems like they break things off at some point in the series. In her time with Madame Spiceberry, she would tell fairy tales to kids staying at the inn. She's also described as having Southeast Asian features, and chronic headaches

I was inspired by @isabeth-apologist to share one of my old fics as well! It's sad that ao3 hasn't been able to archive the old aroiis forums, I remember a lot of good fics from back then :(

I already submitted it to @icerosesummerbracket a bit ago, but why not post it to ao3 to make it more official? And maybe I'll write a new fic to help really ring in this fandom revival!

Favorite AROIIS characters 5/12 : Ianthe

Ianthe's a name that means "violet flower" and I started this moodboard with purple tones but it eventually took another direction...

Fennel lore established so far: Belladonna's half-brother, both of them being children of Radiance's right hand man and being essentially adopted by Radiance after his death. Fennel's strength comes from the fact that he never gave up on being good and kind, even though it only brought more trouble and tragedy upon him. He helps save Lily when they get captured by Radiance, he's important to Lux's switching sides, and of course he means a lot to Belladonna. Lastly, though somewhat more of a fun fact compared to everything else, he keeps rats as pets.

Sure, I love every love interest Madame Spiceberry ever had in RoIiS because they're all amazingly well written but Ianthe was my favorite and I was heartbroken when they broke things off. I've read all the "fix-it" fics several times (yes even the one with A/B/O dynamics, the stuff I'm submitting myself to for this pair...) but before the TV series announcement there weren't many of them

I know many shows go the grim, hopelesz way now but I really hope the adaptation gets their relationship right.

It works so well as a lightener in the books (I love the quiet parts like when Ianthe is telling fairytales' stories to the inn's clients and their kids during a stormy evening and Madame Spiceberry is just glancing at her affectionately) after emotional dark scenes (I really needed it after the scene at the Wishing Well)

Also they better keep Ianthe's Southeast Asian's features and her chronic headaches.

I know some people tend to write off Ianthe because they prefer shipping Madame Spiceberry with Etienne (I mean, not that I don't ship those two, but anyway POINT,) but you gotta give Ianthe a chance man! She may not have as big a role as other characters but she has her place in the series!
