on balance, choso would say he enjoys streaming – he essentially gets paid to do the things he does for free such as play video games, eat copious amounts of ramen whilst watching true crime documentaries, and talk about his day. the freedom to choose his own schedule and make decisions for himself is priceless. especially since he’s got to prioritise his classes and see his friends and family. 

it took a while to get to where he is now. at first, when he was set on just displaying whatever game he was playing, he had only one or two viewers. but after an accidental click and a flash of pig-tails, face tattoo, piercings, of a shirtless torso, hard and sharp abs, the viewership skyrocketed. comically so. now, he earns enough to be able to retire. all his friends respect and envy him. one must admit he is living the life.

if he had to pick a flaw in this whole thing, however, he might hesitantly and reluctantly point to his followers. they’re both the greatest part about his side gig, what with their never ending jokes and support, as well as the worst; there’s no telling what they’ll suggest in his comments next. 

“chat, stop asking me to go through my underwear drawer. no, they don’t have holes in them.” he squints at the screen and makes a frustrated sound. “i am not going to twerk while naked. guys, what the hell is wrong with you all? just tell me how i can defeat this boss so i can get the materials to level up my venti…oh, thanks, ‘chosoismypuppyboy69.’ i’ll be sure to change my team then.”

sighing, he keeps tapping on the keys, spamming with no rhyme or reason. for a computing student, he’s not very good at these games, but it sure does entertain the twenty thousand people watching at 3am. seeing him fumbling about, flinching at the most harmless of things, and constantly dying is apparently what they’d rather do than get some good night’s sleep. not that he’s any better. the man hasn’t had a full eight hours sleep in years. or maybe ever.

“‘do you tickle your prostate?’ what even is that? alright, that’s enough for tonight. i can’t deal with you guys; you’re like gremlins – yeah, i know what that is; i’ve watched the movie. yeah, obviously i watched it with my girlfriend; you know i don’t watch scary movies on my own. it is scary! i am not going to debate which movies are scary or not. what the hell? stop asking me to flash my dick piercing, oh my god. i regret ever telling you guys about that. okay okay. night, assholes.”

I have looked into the Honkai: Star Rail voice actor situation as much as a layperson conceivably can. I have found this information on where we stand with the remaining mute voices. Reddit rebuffed me (some guy demanded all current voice actors be fired entirely???). So I grant this analysis to you:

In short: everyone on this list was specifically kept away by selectively enforced union regs during the strike that ended June 11. All were willing to come back once that was relaxed, including the already-recast Trailblazers. Anyone not recast in the interim is now available and due to scheduling lag should be back around 3.5.

Currently missing Voice actors, by role:

1) Firefly (Analesa Fisher): Missing from 3.0, minor lines in 3.2.

- 'Actively jonesing to return' is maybe not an official category, but...

- Celebrated strike’s end, voiced Firefly’s anniversary letter, commented on Firefly skin, etc...

- Likely to return, barring behind-the-scenes issues.

2) Dan Heng (Nicholas Leung): Missing significant lines from 2.7-3.3

- Most absent role, more so than the Trailblazers!

- No official return announcement; possibly under NDA.

- Confirmed desire to return per his close personal voice acting friends; potential return in 3.4 if he was able to come in by April.

- By far the part most at risk of recast.

3) Himeko (Cia Court): Missing some lines from 2.7 onward.

- Relieved about strike’s end, actively promotes Himeko role on social media.

- Shared useful resources on the voice absences more or less confirming the actors were kept away unwillingly by union rules.

- Likely to return around 3.5. Relatively safe unless some mass recasting occurs.

4) Kafka (Cheryl Texiera): Missing from 3.0, and a single line in 3.2.

- Primarily a live-action actress (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (no, seriously), and a Disney sitcom).

- SAG pressures on primarily screen actors may complicate return.

- There's a long history of getting a live action actor for your video game, and then they're unable to finish the project due to conflicting schedules or contracts. If she can't make it back it's likely in the same vein as this. I'd beg the fandom's understanding in this matter.

- Given her relatively minor absence and 5* status (their recasts take longer and are more likely to be soundalikes) seems unlikely to be recast for 3.4 unless she's just confirmed too hard to ever get back.

5) Our Trailblazers (Caleb Yen and Racheal Chau): Missing since ~2.7, replaced starting 3.3 by currently-anonymous actors.

- Caleb Yen:

- A fairly-prolific VA. All signs indicate he wanted to return but risked blacklisting in other roles. Bowing out here preserved a literal lifetime of future work.

- Rachel Chau:

-Seems to have gained SAG union membership IN THE TIME AFTER SHE WAS CAST AS STELLE. She was not bucking union rules to take the role. Union rules seem to have been thrust upon her later. This may have limited her ability to contest union pressure.

- She has already signed on as the protagonist of a new game though!

Again: everyone involved wanted to work. Any strike actions or attempted underhanded unionization drives or whatever you heard were not strictly speaking targeting Honkai:Star Rail. Everyone here was in the same situation Zach Aguilar and Sarah Miller-Crews (voices of the Genshin Travelers) were in. Why the Travelers got to come back while the Trailblazers — and anyone else we may lose in 3.4 — did not is going to be a question that bugs me for a long time to come… my best guess is that Rocket Sound (HSR dubbing company) is less lenient with cross-pressured talent than Side Global (Genshin’s) is. Which sucks as HSR seemed best-situated to deal with a handful of muted voices right up until May 19 or so…

Inventory Slots: You can store items (you must be able to physically hold them/carry them with ease) in a pocket dimension, and take them out/put them back at any time. Space is limited but is based on diversity of items vs number of items. Carrying bags, purses etc increase how many inventory slots you have

Damage Resistance: A single strike from a sword won’t kill you, tripping and falling won’t send you to a hospital, what would instantly kill the average person would typically just be an inconvenience to you. (You are not immortal, you just now have Video Game Logic ™ applied)

Rapid cooking/eating: You need a method of cooking and the required ingredients, but for some foods you can cook them instantly (it is still perfectly cooked and safe to eat) and you can instantly eat things (you can’t sense the texture/flavor, you still get nutritional benefits/detriments, foods eaten in this manner cannot harm you from overeating (but you are still restricted from eating further/you have a sense of fullness))

Skip Cutscene: If you have had the same conversation multiple times, or have a task that you do repetitively, you can skip it once a day

Fast Travel: In addition to the location where you wake up (if your sleep schedule is irregular, the location where you are at during midnight), you can select three other locations to teleport to. You can teleport three times a day. You can move around your teleport markers, but you have to physically go there to access them/move them

Double Jump: Self explanatory, you can jump twice, with slightly less height but half the stamina used as your regular jumping ability, and timing your second jump properly can significantly reduce the damage taken from high falls

outer wilds is 40% off on steam - if you've not played it yet, i really really recommend it! to not spoil much - it's a super rewarding, immersive game about discovery, so, the less you know going in, the better! i played it this summer totally blind and i'm still thinking about it. a lot.

5. worst discord server and why

of COURSE you would choose to be this messy, you lil rat. <3 i will be kind enough to not name the server, it's a general Batfamily server i found on Disboard. most Bafam discord servers tend to be... anti leaning so it's something i sort of expect, but this one has a "ship advisory list", including ships you're not allowed to share media of (like fanfic or fanart) and if you discuss the ship you can be told to stop talking about it. and there were the typical ships you'd expect like Joker/Harley, BatJokes, and ofc a "no proships" umbrella ban. but some of the ships fucking baffled me. like canon ships were on this list. ships i to this day can't figure out why they'd be banned. the top ships of the list that just *got me* in terms of "... what is bad about this ship???" were

on one hand i do think it's fucking hilarious of a list and it always makes me laugh bc i cannot fathom the mentality. but on the other hand it is sort of depressing that so many public social platforms for discussing the Batfam are becoming *so* anti-leaning that ships can be banned simply bc the mods of the server decided they were problematic for some unforeseen reason. it was the biggest depiction of "i don't like this ship so it's problematic" i've ever seen. like where does the goalpost stop moving? when does it somehow become problematic to ship things in general? it was wild even for anti stuff. truly the most baffling server i've been in.

Mike: Lord (he’s essentially the blue haired lord in my head, can become a paladin later)

Will: Mage or Cleric (going more with mage cause they get pointy hats while clerics don’t)

Lucas: Archer

Dustin: Bard (yes this is a class in this game but only in like two and the older ones)

El: idk either mage or she’s manakete (dragon person)

Max: Pegasus knight

Nancy: Mage (with a proficiency in bows)

Jonathan: Thief (might change later idk)

Steve: Red Cavalier

Barb: Cleric or Mage (I was also thinking Pegasus knight to do the whole Pegasus trio trope in many of the games)

Argyle: Apothecary (like Jonathan, might change later)

Eddie: Mercenary (the hellfire club is his mercenary group, leaning towards the trickster class as well)

yes hello!!!!!!! magic is a lot of fun, and for me personally, going to go play it at my local game store has been the only thing thats actually gotten me to leave the house and talk to strangers lol.

if you want to learn to play the game, i would recommend trying Arena!! (its also on Steam if youd rather download it) its free to download, and though it has microtransactions and a sort of battle pass, i have found it really easy to not spend real money on it. anyway its got a nice tutorial, and ive always found the starter decks they give you are really solid. you can also check out if there's a game store near you, because i know the one near me has a "learn to play" night once a week

if you want to get into The Lore, each set has their own storyline that is depicted on the cards, and also in the webfiction on their website! The current story arc started in 2023, with the Wilds of Eldraine set. i also really enjoy Spice8rack's video summing up the entire storyline until Wilds of Elrdraine started

the way i got into it was i downloaded arena and played it a lot, and then looked at the wiki entries for the characters whose cards i used all the time. or thought looked cool lol. now i have a whole room in my apartment dedicated to it.

blackhole time fuckery is my current biggest idea and the one i am possibly most excited for, even though it is going to take probably the MOST research. bc it is going to play a LOT with the events of Stormbringer so i am going to have to reread the book and take lots of notes ahahhhh (they say as if rereading it wasn't already in their plans)

ANYWAY so i was at work thinking about chuuya, as you do, and it hit me that i remembered reading something about the effects of blackholes on time somewhere ??? and i couldn't look it up immediately, but my brain decided to roll with it anyway and thus, blackhole time fuckery was born.

i looked it up later ofc and the effects are mostly just that it's actually gravity that can affect time by slowing it down the closer you are to a mass, so it can be a rather dramatic slow-down for blackholes since they have a very large gravitational pull, but i digress. the idea had already been born.

so you are on the right track with time travel!!! or, more specifically, i guess it's more of a time swap? there is still much to plan. but the basic premise is this:

what if, when Verlaine opened the gate that first time, it caused Chuuya to trade places with his 22 year-old self? aka what if I throw 22 year-old Chuuya mid-stormbringer while also throwing 16 year-old Chuuya into the present? and how will the poor Dazai's deal with it?? mixed levels of trust and understanding, having to face Verlaine again, an overwhelming number of smiling faces, and how the hell are they going to get back to their own times?????

gosh it's going to be so much fun to figure this all out and actually write it i am so excited.

OF COURSE I WANT I'M DELIGHTED TO!!!! it's probably gonna be rlly spoiler-y though watch out! the games also discuss difficult topics such as sexual assault, abuse etc etc. i actually don't know much about the og lisa games (the first, the painful and the joyful) beyond the scope of what i heard in hbomberguy's essay about them . the gist is that an event called "the flash" happened that caused all the women to disappear, it was also sort of apocalyptic in nature to the world in general i assume? since it looks how it looks, basically a wasteland. the first is about Lisa, who is Brad's sister if i remember correctly. it focuses on her memories and trauma of being brought up in an abusive home. the painful follows the story of Brad, who finds a baby girl, names her Buddy and takes care of her the best he can. Buddy disappears one day and he tracks her down because it's a really dangerous world, especially to her. the joyful follows Buddy herself, as she murders all the poeple who could pose a threat to her so she's safe, basically, running off what i remember. i know a bit more about the hopeful, from what i've seen it happens between the painful and joyful, although no characters from those games are really invloved, although i'm pretty sure one scene hints at the fact that Buddy was nearby. the story follows 3 losers and their boss, basically. beltboy (benny), lanks (liam), cyclops (clyde) and rodriguez, who doesn't have a stupid nickname. in non-pain runs (basically pain mode makes the game harder and it sometimes affects the endings, just as doing "joyless" runs does. joy is a drug that makes you feel nothing, so it's very effective for battles and junk, but it has its risks) rodriguez get's killed at the very beginning and the three have to find "the girl", who is rumored to be somewhere in the area, on their own. in pain mode you can recruit rodriguez when you fail to bring him gasoline. stuff mostly stays the same between routes except for events at the sportsdome, where depending on how you talk to the others as benny, different person will sustain a serious injury (and either die later on or turn into a joy mutant, if they took joy) and different person will get captured by the lovelies (they're also looking for the girl, their leader is hart and they're all assholes, basically). if rod is with you, you bail sooner and don't participate in the sports event at the dome (the prize for winning is supposed to be the girl). then again the path forks at the end, where it also depends on who survived and if you took joy. the kind of "true" ending is for joyless beltboy, who, out of all the others, isn't as obsessed with chasing the girl and is more understanding, treating her like a human being. speaking of, the girl (whose name is five i think? and she's really a grown woman runaway experiment also) actually helps you in this ending yippiee!! friends forever. there are also two bonus characters you can have in your party, yogurt master and reginald, but they aren't as tied to the story as the others. i'm worried i'm running close to the character limit here anyways here's a very cool video on the hopeful by wormgirl if you wanna watch it (it's what actually what got me into the game!)

Sorry for the weird question, but how do you get the sprites like that? I've tried searching through the files and for the life of me I can't find them.

It's not a weird question at all!

In the game, if you go to the cat's page (with their sprite and details-e.g. role, personality, pelt, age, etc) there's a magnifying glass in the upper righthand corner of the screen. Clicking on that will give you a larger view of the sprite. In the upper lefthand corner of that page, there's a button that says 'save as image'. If you click that, there's a pop-up that lets you choose the size of the image (small, medium, or large-I use medium for my sprite images). Once you've selected the size you want, click the 'save as image' button in the pop-up and then the 'open data directory' button. Once you're in the data directory, you'll find the sprite image in the 'saved_images' folder.

This is interesting because out of all my ocs they're the ones where I'm less sure about where my inspo came from🤔 especially when it comes to Elias he very much developed as my art improved �� here's his earliest design (tw old art...)

By drawing him over and over and using blueish tints over my art all the time he got pinker and pinker and he ended up getting a design that's a little more sleek and cohesive. My main inspos for him were the vtmb toreador fledgling (because he used to be my toreador pc until i decided i liked him being a fledgling too much and changed it so he's the childe of the og toreador fledgling) and with time i ended up getting more and more inspired by other media, for example mahito from jjk, someone's nsfw oc that will go unnamed lmfao, and i started referencing irl people when drawing him to get a feel for proportions and to make his design more consistent. My main inspo is fernando lindez (though they rarely end up looking very alike) and what I try to replicate in Elias are his eye shape and his general facial proportions, i like how all of his features are close together in a way that feels kind of feminine and pretty.

When it comes to Brooklyn instead my inspos are more clear though her design kind of came naturally with me just messing around while practising how to paint darker skin tones. She is also a vtmb fledgling redesign (this time the malkavian one) and one of their clan stereotypes is that they usually get heterochromia. I didn't like the idea of just giving her different eye colors (though that's what ended up happening LMAO) and i looked into like. Pretty pictures of eye trauma😭 examples down here nothing graphic imo

This is not exactly what i had in mind at the time but it's similar so. Just kind of randomly evolved into her whole eye being white as i messed up painting. When it comes to her general design I wanted an excuse to draw lots of fun hairstyles without going against vtm canon (vampires are stuck w the same appearance forever) and whenever I design characters i like to steer kind of minimalistic, so i often end up with making the eyes and hair the same colours because I dont want them to get too busy or overwhelming. I can't even point out specific inspos for her because it's just a very common trope (tempest, yue from atla, 5000 different ocs) but when it comes to irl influences i was inspired by Anok Yai because I'd seen her in an interview and fell in love with her + a lot of other dark skin black super models. That's the main thing with brooklyn she has to give supermodel and very put together which kind of contrasts with her personality being. Completely unhinged. Anyways I don't really reference her much anymore because Brooke's features just kind of fit very nicely with my same face syndrome but here's Anok Yai for fun ^^
