Inside Out Emotions Theory
I just spent some time at Disneyland, and after riding the Emotional Whirlwind I started thinking about Inside Out and its upcoming sequel.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Inside Out 2 will involve Riley suddenly gaining new emotions now that she’s a teenager: Anxiety, Embarrassment, Envy, and Ennui.
Tumblr media
Now, I know I’m not the first one to point this out, but these new emotions don’t exactly sound like they’d be fully distinct from the main 5, do they?
Let’s start by looking at the dictionary definitions of these new emotions:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's some overlap, isn't there?
The way I see it:
Envy involves Anger and Disgust
Fear is inextricably baked into Embarrassment
Anxiety has shades of Fear, Sadness, and (from my personal experience) a little bit of Disgust in a self-deprecating way
Ennui may involve Sadness as well as Disgust at life, but it’s a bit different than the other three (I’ll get to that later)
Anyway, I think I may have mentally stumbled upon what could potentially be the big reveal of Inside Out 2 – the five main emotions directly, albeit unknowingly, influence the actions of the four new ones.
We can even see this demonstrated in the teaser! All five of them are freaked out, so naturally Anxiety is running at peak performance. At a different time, she might not be as anxiety-ridden as she is here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Therefore, these new emotions have all previously existed on some level, they’re just physically manifesting for the first time.
Embarrassment is the most prominent one — that’s experienced by people of all ages and Riley is no exception. It’s explicitly shown when she interacts with her parents…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, the emotions react to her introducing herself in school as if it’s an embarrassing moment, and Fear’s tiny outburst beforehand really seems like an anxiety attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Riley definitely shows envy when Meg tells her she’s been replaced on the hockey team back in Minnesota, with the exact combo I mentioned earlier (Anger & Disgust) contributing to that reaction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as for ennui, that honestly just became her default state when Joy, Sadness, the core memories were gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really, the multicolored memories were just the first step toward these multifaceted emotions manifesting. And who’s to say these four will be the only ones? Joy and Sadness could theoretically combine into Ambivalence, or Anger and Fear into Stress, etc.
And for a movie that already raises in-universe questions on whether or not free will fully exists, it would add a whole new layer of existential dread if some of the emotions themselves aren't fully in control of themselves either.
(Is now a good time to mention how the emotions themselves experience emotions too? Joy’s utter despair in the Memory Dump is the most blatant example but there are some other, more subtle ones, like Fear displaying disgust while on Dream Duty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But honestly, digging into the emotions’ emotions is opening up a can of worms I’m not ready for right now, so I’ll just end that "train of thought" here.)
Of course, I could be completely wrong about all of this, and after June 14 this post will look like Charlie Kelly came up with it.
Tumblr media
But regardless of whether I’m right or not, one thing I can guarantee is that this influx of negative(ish) emotions will single Joy out from the rest even more…
Tumblr media
At least until Riley gets a few years older and Joy finds herself influencing a new emotion…
Tumblr media
(Please share this post and comment on it. I really wanna know what everyone thinks!)

WHAT IF- what if Schadenfreude was part of the old emotions and acted like a grandpa for Anxiety and the others-

(Minor inside out 2 spoilers?)
Ok no because I need answers to this question 😭😭
If ennui has a phone and if phones can exist in Riley’s mind, assuming that the other emotions have phones we don’t know about, does this mean the emotions have a group chat?

Jamie spending so much time with Roy and visibly being so close to Roy that even Roy’s little niece takes note and ensures he’s invited to their Uncle’s Day celebration as Uncle Roy’s best friend, YET Jamie still being surprised, flattered and excited several episodes later when Roy does something as simple as invite him out for a beer, because that’s clearly something that’s unprecedented—the first opportunity to hang out as friends without any guise of it being for football—is just soooooo!! The implications are so silly. Roy definitely spent the entire season framing every interaction he had with Jamie around “work” and “training” even when he really just needed to be around someone (well, specifically around Jamie) because his ass couldn’t just admit he likes having Jamie around. We know from the show he showed up at least once in the evening for “once more before dinner” (Roy…it was literally dark outside and you’d already had Jamie running around twice that day. be forreal)
…so anyway! Roy bringing dinner over to Jamie’s 4 nights a week and it’s really because he doesn’t want to eat alone and having his meals with Jamie is just better, but he still disguises it every time as “well I obviously need to make sure your nutrition is sound and you are eating enough and the right things this is a very important part of your training. I am doing you a crucial service.” Roy bringing Jamie along with him when he watches Phoebe because Phoebe and Jamie adore each other, but Roy “makes” him show her some footie tricks in his back garden and claims it’s because “being able to explain it to someone else is how you become a leader on the team this is very important” or else has him haul phoebes around on his back or whatever as “strength training” to make himself feel better about just wanting Jamie to be there to hang out. Roy following Jamie back home after matches because he needs to “assess his post-match routine and make sure he’s not overdoing it,” but really it’s just them plopped on Jamie’s couch watching bad reality tv and judging it together. And then *obviously* he might as well stay over, so that he can also observe and give Jamie his helpful advice on a morning wake up and stretch routine. Totally necessary!
And look, part of Jamie understands what’s really happening here and at least sort of knows Roy really does like spending time with him outside of just work and training (hence all his best friend teasing on Uncle’s Day), but Jamie is also a bit of an idiot (affectionate) who in equal measure sort of believes he’s just deluding himself and that all of this really has been an elaborate and effective training scheme from Coach Roy.™️ They perplex and bewitch me. s

Something Else I Just Noticed
I was rewatching the Inside Out 2 trailer to try and pick up any little details that might have been missed when I noticed this:
Tumblr media
This frame is the split second before Ennui is introduced in the trailer. Notice how the control panel is in Ennui’s colors despite her not being anywhere near it, not to mention no one is touching it.
This brief scene made me realize something: Ennui isn’t just messing around on her phone as a nod to the stereotypical “phoneaholic teenager” trope. Ennui’s smart phone allows her to work the control panel wirelessly, meaning she doesn’t need to get off of the couch to do her job.
I don’t know if anyone has picked up on this yet & I may be grasping at straws, but I felt like more people should be aware of this little detail.

“This is a strong powerful force that may be dictating Thomas’ actions from here on out—“
—Roman
Thinking about this line because of its said so casually in the Virgil Reacts video. It’s interesting because I’ve always had this theory that even though it’s Patton in the main storyline who ultimately makes the final decisions for Thomas based on what he needs, Virgil probably the most powerful side when it comes to influencing those decisions, or makes them in Patton’s absence—
Like Virgil made the ultimate decision to get Thomas to talk to Nico—
And the whole ‘staying home to watch frozen thing’—
Or the ‘black cloud of fear’ and turning out all the lights with a finger snap-
And you know, the tempest tongue and smashing Thomas’ phone—
Yeah, the dude likes flexing that he used to be a dark side before he even announced he was one, right?

so about the header that proceeded today's statement:
Viability as agent: Low
Viability as subject: None
Viability as catalyst: Medium
i didn't know what to think of this part of the entry at first, but the longer the statement went on... was the institute in this universe trying to manufacture avatars?
the dice can't do anything without someone to use them, they can't be an "agent" by themselves, but might be capable of manipulation, so in that aspect their viability is "low."
the dice could be a "subject" in the sense that they could use further studying, but the statement itself was a very thorough investigation of their workings, so in that aspect their viability is "none."
the dice seem to influence their holder to roll them, or at least find more victims to roll them, and could therefore be described as a "catalyst" for someone's becoming. but, as seen in the statement, their owner can give the dice to someone else (albeit not without consequences), so in that aspect their viability is only "medium."
so what about the line following all this, what does "Recommend referral to Catalytics for Enrichment applicability assessment" mean? if we go by this interpretation, i'd say it could mean the institute wanted to find a way to make the dice even more potent as an artifact, maybe even remove that pesky ability for their owner to reject them.
imho all of this this brings a whole new level of context to the events of episode seven, of unknown violent agents going after an influx of objects that seemed straight out of artifact storage. was that the nature of the titular "magnus protocol" first mentioned in episode four, the one that involved the starkwall group? containing or destroying potential artifacts before the institute could get their hands on them?
it also makes their "gifted kids program," and sam's link to it as one of the kids being studied, all the more horrifying to think about. was it not just avatars in general they were after, but child avatars specifically? no wonder gertrude got so defensive over the possibility of sam and celia dragging gerry back into the institute's business last episode, we all picked up on her clearly knowing more than she's letting on but now we might know the shape of that information a bit better.
and one final bit of food for thought... this statement had a lot of familiar themes, didn't it? free will or the illusion of it, gambling and not-so-random chance, the statement giver being done in by one final hit from what feels like a bit of an addition... all hallmarks of a certain mother of puppets. doesn't it seem fitting that "chester" would use this kind of statement to warn sam about what harm pursuing the magnus institute could bring to him, considering the one his voice might draw from? and doesn't it seem so painfully ironic that his warning seems to have only driven sam further into that web?

leander the... saint?
on this wonderful day i bring a theory about leander's name, or who he's named after. this is vastly speculation because leander is a mystery and a half in the body of a man, so take it with a grain of salt.
we know very few things about leander's life before canon: he grew up with a hightown family, was considered a prodigy, and left his home because he didn't want to join the senobium.
and then, as per norm at this point, i found a connection with a saint.
meet saint leander of seville, the only one known by that name:
Tumblr media
now this is a man with some muscle on the tiddy department
this man is one of four siblings born to an elite family in what is now cartagena, spain. now, all four of them are in the religious area of life, and all four are considered saints.
however, saint leander was exiled by the king liuvigild for protecting his son, who was also canonised as saint hermenegild, and sent away to byzantium. there, it's said he attempted to get the emperor to fight against liuvigild, but failed.
and i gotta point out this dude's staff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
those are both from artistic depictions, obviously, but those decorations are... pretty similar to lilies, in my opinion. or, if i were to talk about a flower looking like that, i'd talk about lilies.
also, the way is bends into a swirl/spiral is quite interesting when you remember leander's (the character, not the saint) connection with immortality, and this little detail in his cg:
Tumblr media
you see the swirl?
anyway, i am out of words to talk about them, but i just wanted to talk about how similar leander the character and leander the saint are, and how the character might have been named after the saint.

Happy Holy Monday - AKA Happy Claudiataker Day!
I'm officially declaring Holy Monday as Claudiataker Day, by the power vested in me as your local tinfoil theorist! *throws champagne bottle at calendar*
This week (April 13-19) is the holy week that precedes Easter Sunday, consisting of Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, Holy/Fig Tuesday, Holy/Spy Wednesday, Holy/Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy/Great Saturday. Holy Monday is the day on which Jesus Christ is said to have cursed the fig tree, cleansed the temple, and responded to the questioning of his authority.
So what does Holy Monday have to do with Claudiataker? Holy Monday is actually the day Claudia Phantomhive was born - April 5th, 1830. But since Easter, and by extension Holy Monday, is a moveable feast dependent on the lunar cycle, it doesn't fall on the same day every year. And in the year 1331, it fell on March 25 - which I believe to be the date Undertaker/Cedric K. Ros- was born. If he died on January 28, 1366, he would have been 34 when he committed suicide - the same age his son Vincent would be when murdered in 1885.
Tumblr media
So in a way, Undertaker and Claudia share a birthday! This shared birthday is remarkably similar to a popular medieval French tale of forbidden romance that I believe served as inspiration for Undertaker and Claudia's love story. In that story, the two lovers are born on the same day (Palm Sunday) and are both named after the flowers strongly associated with Easter - red roses, and white lilies.
Tumblr media
Easter has already been associated with Undertaker - both with the religious imagery of his character (the crown of thorns on his death scythe and on Claudia's locket especially), and with the reveal of his secret identity as a grim reaper on the Campania falling on Good Friday - April 19, 1889.
This year is shaping up to be a very exciting Easter. Holy Monday falls on April 14th this year, of all days, and we have another very exciting Good Friday approaching - April 18, 2025. This Good Friday the Black Butler hiatus will end with the release of Chapter 214...
And well. Chapter 214, Good Friday. It would be a very well-timed opportunity for another big reveal about Undertaker's identity, now wouldn't it?
Tumblr media
Happy Holy Monday, wishing you all a very happy end-of-hiatus Easter, and Long Live Claudiataker!!!!

Okay so
SPOILERS for INSIDE JOB and one more Disney show but I hope I am safe since it’s not exactly new.
The ending to Inside job CRUSHED ME.
Tumblr media
You know, Reagan and Ron? The least likely couple to be created? That turned out to be the absolute best pairing I could have ever hoped for? THEM.
I SO wanted them to end up happily, even in Appleton. Hell, they deserve it. So I had a stupid idea.
Maybe there’s a timeline where they did end up together?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one where they stayed in Appleton.
Because you know what I thought of when I looked at Appleton logo?
SPOILERS!
Tumblr media
Yeah it’s very very far-fetched. But just IMAGINE.
Ron and Reagan end up together.
They move in. They argue. They make up. They live somehow happily. They have KIDS.
A boy, who just knows there’s something out there - something he just needs to prove or discover. That’s just out of his reach.
And a girl, whose only idea for life is to be happy - truly, remarkably happy. Against all odds, against the very universe scheming to make her and her family unhappy.
Tumblr media
Maybe them?
Like I said, it’s far-fetched but I love the idea for Ron and Reagan escaping the shadow world, only for their kids to almost unleash eldritch horrors upon the earth.
Tumblr media
Because if there’s something Reagan’s kids and Randall’s grandchildren would do is make a deal with cosmic horror spirit and turn on strange machines in the basement.
Tumblr media
(yes I’m looking at you Mabel)
Tumblr media
We know twins are not related to uncle Stan (Hell, he may as well be Owl Lady’s ex from the Owl house - guy has his own set of relationship problems)
And we never saw their parents!
So what if Dipper and Mabel’s parents are Ron and Reagan? Maybe they did wipe their minds and raised the kids without a care about the shadow government?
You can’t tell me that Ron would be a bad father - guy has the father streak a mile long! He is patient with Reagan, he is reasonable, absolutely scared shitless about people he cares about and just wants them all safe! He would instal that hopeful streak in Mabel and keep feeding it because she is just what they need to keep color in their life. He is also snarky and Dipper definitely learned that from someone.
And Reagan? Socially unsure Reagan who has the habit of hyper fixating and losing touch with reality and would definitely pass that on to her son? She would try to be so gentle with Dipper and not crush his hopes and ideas because she would feel bad if she even tried. She could remember her dad as a mad scientist and most of all absent father but he also always nurtured her scientific growth. So let her nurture that in her own kids - most notably her son. And let her daughter make all the friends she could have. Just keep praising her - gOoOood work honey…? (Confused glance at Ron, as their daughter runs around with handmade embellishment gun for her sweaters. Ron just gives Reagan a thumbs up)
Let them just be good parents.
Tumblr media
Or even not-so-good-ones. After all, who sends their kids off to a relative on the other side of America for the whole summer without even background checking the guy?
Mayyyyybe parents who were just given their memories back and called to help in saving the world from another crisis?!
Or just terrible parents. Just because Ron and Reagan are great with one another, they still argue and they make mistakes. And they may try to do their best by their kids but also fuck up. They could and they probably would because which parent doesn’t fuck up sometimes?
Maybe they never got wiped and they tried to make their relationship work despite their jobs? And then BAM kids?
Or maybe Ron got wiped, and Reagan was pregnant already and her and Brett raised the kids until Ron came storming back into their lives (because I want them to be happy together - and he could beat the brainwash since he surely build some immunity by exposure over the years)
Man I just love the idea of Mabel and Dipper being Reagan’s kids. And just - living their best summer adventure life while their parents have to deal with one cosmic crisis after the other. And then Ron and Reagan realizing it’s their kids whom unleashed the cosmic horror upon the earth the moment they got some time for themselves!
Yeah, grandpa Rand would be proud.
And for anyone who says that Mabel and Dipper don’t look like Ron or Reagan - there are some possible options that explain the difference in noses (since it’s one of the things that set the kids apart from R&Rs).
Option 1: genetics - Mainly Ron’s parents having round noses.
Option 2: Ron and Reagan unable to have kids and using the donor or adopting (maybe a certain red-head with golden heart is the donor?)
Option 3: Brett being in the relationship with them both (my favorite)
Because look at them:
Tumblr media
I run out of space for pictures but puppet master Brett and puppet maker Mabel? They would be besties, if not family.
And the idea of Ron cultivating the optimism in Mabel still stands - he may not be the one who she gets it from but he will surely do his best to make his little girl happy and to keep her happy (her and his son and his wife - he is such a family man)
So…
TL;DR: What if, in one of the timelines, Mabel and Dipper Pines turned out to be Reagan and Ron’s children? :D

In some superman lore, red sunlight doesn't surpress Superman's powers, it just doesn't charge them/ doesn't charge them as much as yellow sunlight.
What if the low energy output of a red sun caused all life on Krypton to evolve to latch on and store any and all possible energy (food, sunlight, some types of radiation) and during dire situations, Kryptonians could use weaker versions of their powers to protect themselves?
Kinda like when humans are threatened our bodies produce adrenaline and burn a lot of calories for like 10 seconds of unbelievable strength. Kryptonians do a similar thing +stored solar energy to occasionally fly away from threats or use superstrength for a few seconds?
