The Low-Down on the Genshin VA Drama

So, I was recently responding to someone else, and figured I'd make a post explaining exactly what's happening for people not entirely aware of the situation.

Basically, there's an ongoing SAG AFTRA strike (SAG AFTRA is an american VA Union), and that's extending into Hoyoverse games like Genshin Impact and HSR.

What is this drama about?

They recently replaced a VA for the character, Kinich, who was NOT part of the union but was striking in solidarity without protections.

The new VA, Jacob Takanashi a VA from Japan, expressed his excitement over having a new role on twitter.

This resulted in various Union VAs, such as Paimon VA and Keqing's VA notably to essentially start a harssment/bullying campaign which fans did NOT take very well.

You guys... you guys already see the first problem here, right? Takanashi is based IN JAPAN and for the matter did not know there was a even a strike

Ororon's VA, Nathan Nokes (who btw was one of the few to go "hey guys, maybe let's not resort to bullying tactics especially when we don't know everything) actually went and confirmed this:

It is very clear from how it's worded he wasn't entirely aware of the situation. Even if you argue that he could've done more research it doesn't excuse the behavior of some of the other VAs

This is especially notable for Paimon VA who's drawn a lot of ire since she was one of the firstarters despite the fact that she is part of SAG AFTRA and NOT striking. In fact, she voices a character who consistently has some of the most lines per patch and thus has arguably the most leverage out of anyone in the cast.

2. Why are people turning against SAG AFTRA?

There were misgivings about some parts of the Interim Agreement that Hoyo refused to sign in the past, but has recently returned full force with the above controversy:

TLDR; SIgning this agreement means Hoyo has to boot out Non-SAG Aftra VAs. A reminder, Genshin and HSR have been international projects from the start so they would be screwing over a LOT of people. This is on TOP of penalizing them for hiring internationally for this project that was already international in its conception.

Naturally, this didn't sit well with a lot of people, and a few even see this as a power grab. Why? Because if this were ONLY about AI Protections and pay/treatment Hoyo would have signed it ages ago.

To cut it short: Hoyo's international projects ALREADY have AI protection BY LAW in several countries they hire VAs in, including their home of China, and studios/unions outside of SAG AFTRA that they've hired from BEFORE THE STRIKE like SIDE Global already have these protections mandated as well.

There would otherwise be no reason to withhold this from what's likely only a part of their overall VAs when they're willing to do so for everyone else.

IIRC Khoi Dao (Albedo VA) has had his own Q&A about this but keep in mind the source isnt' necessarily unbiased. I recommend reading it through the horses mouth through the SAG AFTRA site or the links above first.

Regardless though, (and this is one poin of Khoi's Q&A people had a problem with) is that full jurisidiction over the jobs of VAs that are already established would come under the hands of a foreign union.

Yes, there are mitigating factors like the Taft-Hartleys, but these are highly limited (3 times 30 hours each for a project for life iirc), and eventually force you to join the Union ANYWAY.

Yes, there are ways to join in on the union, but not only is there a monetary hurdle ($3000 plus additional fees), even if you were to get an exemption or some sort of exception, it comes AT the discretion of said Union, and even if you did everything right, they could still boot you out anyway, out of a job YOU already had.

4. Why is SAG AFTRA doing this? (Imma just copypaste my old explanation here)

Now, personally? I'm not saying the interim is worded like that as a powergrab nor do I personally think it is.

This likely stemmed from one thing: SAG AFTRA VAs violating Global Rule 1:

Basically: They're not allowed to work on Non-union projects.

For this EXACT kind of reason. Because it creates a schism in the studios, the union involved would not have as strong a leverage, and literally EVERYONE INVOLVED- the union, the company, independent VAs, international unions- gets put in a scenario where they get screwed no matter what.

Genshin and HSR from the very beginning were not SAG AFTRA Projects. They were VERY EXPRESSLY international ones and Hoyo wasn't shy about the fact that it wanted to hire international talents.

Usually from what I know, Global Rule 1 isn't heavily enforced, which is why the VAs ended up joining GI and HSR in the first place. This wouldn't be a problem for smaller, one-and-done kind of projects, but these are gachas, long-term projects that frequently have VAs return.

So when SAG AFTRA asks all of its members to strike, this happens and nothing gets done for a long time. In a more optomistic lens, they likely feel like in order to get these terms, they HAVE to have full control over the project.

5. Afterword

So yeah, that's basically the down-low on the drama and why people are turning against the union.

Regardless, I highly HIGHLY recommend you, the reader to go through and read the Interim Agreement yourself and come to your own conclusion (not the reddit comments obv, I only added that in case they updated the page) .

This is a very VERY messy scenario that's been mishandled in nearly every place conceivable (how some VAs acted turning people against them, the Union not enforcing its own rules and not being transparent the entire strike to fans and VAs alike, etc.).

Instead of having one or another party explain it to you, read through the Interim Agreement and come up with a stance on it your own! No lens to view it through, just what's been requested from the horses mouth directly.

Venti is Phanes + on Istaroth and the Primordial One

[Edit 13/04/2025: THIS IS OLD AND MESSY. Instead, please check my updated theory, it really goes in-depth and is organized and without inconsistencies. I would have posted it on reddit, but it exceeded the character limit >.< So you can check it on tumblr and twitter]

Not so crack theory: Venti is Phanes and is the androgynous being born from the Chymical Marriage between the Primordial One and Istaroth, before she was betrayed by the Sinners

(I posted this before but now it's properly explained)

I am using this lore in my old mondstadt fic, Nameless (actually soon to turn into trilogy, since vol 2 is about venti rewinding time and vol 3 is present time story and I took so long to plan all the lore with all the canon crumbs and theories we had...)

Yes, a lot of the info about gods is pulled from wikipedia, I’m not being paid to research more, okay? I just want to feed the brainrot. My main sources besides those are the videos listed at the end.

I would love if this theory made its way to some big lore content creator for them to analyse and criticize, because I have been rotating this in my head but I don’t have their capacity or knowledge to tear this apart.

NOTES:

This post contain minimal mentions of 2 leaks, about the rest of the collection of The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies, and a sus minimal old leak about Venti

This post contains some references to the Penacony arc from Honkai star rail, but no knowledge about the game is required and in fact, I don't even play it myself and those are just sus parallels

0. Summary / main points

Istaroth and the Primordial One parallel Chronos (personification of time) and Ananke (most powerful dictator of Fate and mother of The Fates/Moirai), respectively.

Chronos and Ananke laid down the cosmic / orphic world that created/reshaped the world. In a way, that was an Alchemical Marriage, that also gave birth to the androgynous winged being Phanes/Venti, and to the Abyss,

Venti has many ties to fate, including extensive apple symbology visible even in wisp form. The apples, besides being a symbol of fate, also represent a dream bubble in accordance to the structure of Teyvat. Quoting his most sus birthday art, “It is written that there is a whole tiny world hidden inside an apple core”

Venti has at least some control over 1 half of Teyvat while the other half is ruled by The Night Mother/Nyx. He also offers us half of the apple in the mentioned birthday art.

Ananke was a serpent-like being, and we see a Black Serpent 1) coiled around Phanes 2) coiled around the pearl/cosmic egg in the Gnostic Chorus 3) in the Black Serpent Knights, who also had Ishtar/Istaroth’s star as a symbol 4) In Nibelung, if we consider serpents and dragons the same

Istaroth supported Khaenri’ah (thus why the Nation had her symbol) and both opposed the Heavenly Principles/Celestia, until she was betrayed by the Sinners/6 Pygmies and forgotten

The Primordial One was opposed by Celestia. We also know that Nibelung fought Celestia. They were either allies or even the same being (a black serpent), and their perceived opposition is not too different from how Remus went down misinterpreted by history

1. About the Primordial One

In case it’s not yet clear, this assumes that Phanes =/= Primordial One. After all, the book Before the Sun and Moon simply says that “The Primordial One may have been Phanes*”,* and the fandom just started equating the two.

I am of the opinion that the Primordial One and Celestia are in opposition, while Istaroth is on the side of the Primordial One, or at least opposed to Celestia too. Maybe the Alchemical Marriage was part of a plan of theirs. Read more about it in section 3.

And if the truth about Remuria taught us anything, is that some rivalries depicted in history are false. In the same way Remus went down as a Tyrant when in reality he never wanted to employ force and was even allied with Sybilla (a vishap), I would say that the Primordial One and Nibelung/dragons/vishaps probably found ways to coexist. We do know that Nibelung went to war against the Heavenly Principles/Celestia, but if Celestia and Primordial One opposed each other, that just makes an alliance between PO and the Dragon King more likely.

We don’t know if Primordial One = 1st Descender and Celestia = 2nd Descender, so I will avoid using those terms throughout the post. But if the 2nd who came = 2nd Descender = Celestia, then that would lend further credibility to the idea that Celestia and the PO are on opposing sides, since the 2nd who came basically stole PO’s ruling of Teyvat.

2. About Istaroth AND Khaenri’ah

Like I said above, I believe that Istaroth sides with the Primordial One and that both are in opposition to Celestia

Istaroth has the ability to create alt Looms of Fate through those seeds she gives away - those basically grow into trees that are databases of history outside the control of Celestia. I had already affirmed this for my fic before we got the 2nd Caribert quest, but at this point is practically confirmed.

Istaroth is based on Astaroth and Ishtar, and Ishtar’s morning star is an 8-pointed star just like the symbol of Khaenri’ah. And so the Black Serpent Nights probably served Istaroth in some way.

Khaenri’ah supposedly didn’t have a god, but let’s keep in mind Istaroth was forgotten by time. It’s also possible that, even if Khaenri’ah had a god, they still considered themselves the pride of humankind since Istaroth likely wasn’t associated with Celestia, as I mentioned

Speaking of Black Serpents, other prevalent Black serpents are the one in the Gnostic Chorus, and Nibelung, in a way (not sure if they are or not the same entity). So I would say that Nibelung is/was also allied with Khaenri’ah/Istaroth/Primordial One. Please refer to the section above for an explanation.

The 6 Pygmies and the Pale Princess is a book that is an allegory for the 5 Sinners of Khaenri’ah + Dainsleif and Istaroth. I include, at the end, a video that explains that properly and is very much worth the watch. From there (or at least, from the leaked volumes), we know that the Sinners basically betrayed Istaroth, which might explain why she ended up being forgotten and why Dainsleif is the only Pygmie that didn’t go fully down the Sinner’s path.

3. The relationship between the Primordial One and Istaroth

Like I say above, many things point to them being allied. At the very least, we can quite safely infer they both opposed Celestia/The Heavenly Principles and in turn allied with Khaenri’ah.

The cosmic/ orphic/world egg was created by Chronos (personification of time) and Ananke (most powerful dictator of Fate and mother of The Fates/Moirai). “Ananke and Chronos are mates, mingling together in serpent form as a tie around the universe. Together, they have crushed the primal egg of creation of which constituent parts became earth, heaven and sea to form the ordered universe.”

Ananke and Chronos have to be the PO and Istaroth - which one is which is a bit debatable, with their genders being a counterargument on its own. But I would say Chronos is Istaroth (due to her associations with time, although she is more a god of moments than of time) while Ananke is the Primordial One (who had the 3 moon sisters/moirai as shades + is probably the Dreamer/HSR’s SUNday parallel who plays the symphony that creates the fates reflected by the moons (read more in next section)).

The cosmic egg that birthed the world, together with the Abyss AND Venti, probably resulted from their Alchemical Marriage. I wouldn’t be too surprised if it was also the Gnostic Pearl depicted in the Gnostic Chorus cutscene, or even if the Black Serpent there was Ananke/Primordial One. In fact, that would only solidify the connections with the Black Serpent Knights and them wearing Istaroth’s symbol. And it would be extra funny if somehow the Primordial One and Nibelung were the same entity (since I already explained why I think they were are least on the same side)… and therefore were a black serpent/dragon.

Okay, but what is an Alchemical/Chymical Marriage? It’s a marriage between a Red King and a White Queen, the Sun and the Moon, gold and silver, sulphur and mercury. It’s sometimes pointed as the source of the Philosophers' Stone, and from that union of opposites is birthed an androgynous being. Btw, that marriage is facilitated by a dove, but this is off-topic and you can see why that is interesting in the last video linked. It’s also a process that sometimes involves ‘fermentation”, which is also off-topic but ties well with the wine-making process and other things mentioned in the last video too.

According to Jakob: "The Seal of Chymical Marriage was an ancient Fontainian ritual meant to seal off the source of life. Now it has been reversed, and all has been set free once more!" So, it can be used to separate the Primordial Sea from the world, which sounds similar to creating a world/pearl/philosopher’s stone/egg/dream bubble that floats in the sea of quanta or wtv is the logic used across Hoyoverse’s worlds. We confirm again this was necessary to create Teyvat's egg, and that the Primordial One couldn’t do it alone because two people are required for a marriage.

And do you know what Marriages also require? A ring. Who was escaping with a golden ring, that is an important figure of Khaenri’ah and the only Pygmy who didn’t act like the others/didn’t become a Sinner? Dainsleif, whose constellation is even a Serpent ring. May I point to the Das Rheinegold music drama, that is part of the series The Ring of Nibelung, and maybe use that as extra merit to associate the Primordial One with Nibelung?

4. About the world of Teyvat

Dragons = Vishaps = Sea slugs = Bees = Seelies. Yes. We already know that the the dragons and seelies in Genshin are based on irl sea slugs, I won’t elaborate on that. As for Bees, that is because we have seelie-like bees in Remuria, connected to the prophet Golden-Bee Sybilla (don’t mistake Sybilla with Sylla, who is a Dragon King, although I guess this is all the same family)

Teyvat is theoretically 2 worlds/halves, the version we know and the mirror world, that is probably the Abyss. Or maybe all of it is a mirror world, idk. We can even see similar world structures in Honkai Star Rail, especially in Penacony, where the world there is literally mirrored and a dream too. Some people say Teyvat is divided in 3 parts: the Light Realm, Void Realm, and the Human Realm. But I think the Pimordial One just transformed the Light Realm into the Human Realm, so there are still 2 parts only, and we know they can overlap anyway.

Cycle: People die » are absorbed by the roots » are supposed to travel to the top of the world tree (inverted, so top is in abyss) to become Irminsul fruit / stars » said stars form constellations that determine people's fate, or more accurately, since they are all in a dream, are data that allows the tree to predict their fates » it’s because people exist as stars that their fates and presence can be summoned in the form of shooting stars

Dainsleif confirmed that the leylines can be woven to determine Fate / have their records changed. The Loom used to weave them is a Symphony, or in other words, Remus’ Symphony of Fate is very similar or the same thing as a Loom of Fate, although maybe not at the same scale. It’s possible that other God-Kings also attempted to create their own Looms of Fate.

Add to that some Penacony’s parallels, and you can infer that the Symphony is controlled in a floating palace, that is actually a Grande Theater, by the Sun(day) (potentially Phanes or the Primordial One, basically the one who Dreams), and it’s reflected by the moons (Aria, Sonnet and Canon, so the musical associations are fitting). Considering that the 3 moon sisters are also probably the mythological Moirai who weave Fate, yeah, that tracks.

5. Finally, about Venti

Addressing the Venti is/isn’t the weakest Archon debate: Idk and I don’t quite care, because regardless of how much power he holds now, this theory is about his origins and role more than anything.

Venti is the one narrating the Gnostic Chorus cutscene, so clearly he knows about the origins of Teyvat and other important stuff. Yes, it can just be because of his ties to Istaroth who had the winds of time and bla bla, but I would say he has a bigger involvement.

In the Gnostic Chorus, there is a Black serpent, and I already mentioned how it ties with Khaenri’ah and Istaroth in the second section. Well, Phanes is a figure that has a serpent coiled around him too, Ananke, to be more precise.

Phanes was believed to have hatched from the egg of Chronos and Ananke (Istaroth and PO, section 3), OR Nyx in the form of a black bird and wind, OR from the cosmic /orphic egg placed in and hatched from Aether, who was the personification of the bright upper sky and another son of Chronos. Regardless, it seems like the egg birthed both Phanes AND the world?

Phanes is described sometimes as male, sometimes as androgynous. I don’t need to explain how that fits Venti. The androgynous part also fits with how a being born from an Alchemical Marriage should be androgynous due to being an union of opposites.

Phanes is also described has having wings and a crown. We are yet to see a crown, but at least the angel wings are there.

Some myths say that Phanes was Dionysus (god of wine… amongst other things), or Eros (god of love, yes I’m simplifying), and oh boy isn’t Venti the god of all of that too? Although this is complicated since it has to do with gods being iterations of past gods and such, you can read more about it here

In a certain play, after Phanes mates with Chaos, he creates flying creatures. It would also fit Venti well, especially given that tale from Amber’s Quest where he taught birds how to fly.

Okay, this gets less obvious now. Phanes is a first-born deity who emerged from the abyss and gave birth to the universe, and is a god of creation, light and goodness. The Abyss part is extra intriguing because the world has an abyss half, and some in-game books even compare wine with the Abyss, and also with the idea that drinking the abyss/wine is a way to acquire Forbidden Knowledge. Please, check the last video I link.

Phanes counterpart is Nyx (Night). In some tales she is Phane’s wife, sometimes his daughter, and in others she creates an egg from which Phanes is born, so wtv. I don’t know who Nyx is (besides being clearly The Night Mother from the book of the Six Pygmies), but it’s pretty clear that the Abyss half is under her responsibility in some way.

Oh, right, this was a sus leak that broke my mind months ago and seemed completely nonsensical, but since I started cooking this theory, I can’t help but look back at it. It claimed that Venti was the guide of the Primordial One. Humm… yeah, if Venti was part of a plan between Istaroth and PO, I can see that, although I don’t know what the goal could be. Maybe he is assuming Istaroth’s role now that she is gone in supporting the PO?

This is a very wild guess, but I really thing Venti has something to do with the Gnostic Pearl. Idk if that pearl is the same one that hatched the world, or something that holds the world together (think Mikha from HSR), but I can imagine him having some responsibility over taking care of it.

And if you think Venti holding Fate in his hands is a stretch… let’s talk about Apples. Especially in anime, Apples are often depicted as the fruit of Fate (look no further than Mawaru Penguindrum), and in Inazuma, the girl giving Fortune Slips is called Gendou Ringo, with Ringo meaning ‘apple’ in Japanese. Well… Mondstadt is a land full of apple trees, Venti loves apple cider and is often asking for apples to pay for his performances, is being given an apple in archon form in one of his birthday arts, created the Golden-Apple Archipelago, and even the top of his head in wisp form resembles an apple stem. Seriously, I go crazy with how many people never noticed that. This is too much in our face to not be relevant.

This sounds like a stretch, but apples are round and so the shape is not too different from a dream bubble. And do you know what the birthday art I mentioned had in the caption? “It is written that there is a whole tiny world hidden inside an apple core. Here, this half is for you. Let's take a stroll in the tiny little world. But remember to keep it a secret because... you're the only one I want to bring there.” If he isn’t holding Fate or a world in some way, then I don’t know what this is supposed to mean.

You know how I said that Teyvat is divided into 2 halves? That also connects well with his quote (when he gives us half of the apple/world), and with the idea that Phanes is the day while Nyx is the night. So maybe Venti is responsible for the half of Teyvat that we know/he gave us while Nyx is responsible for the Abyss side.

So… is there any proof that Venti is Phanes? No. Are there many many sus elements about him and connections with the things I listed? Yes. I could see the Traveler being Phanes and being entrusted the Light/Human half of Teyvat by Venti as a scenario just as likely, especially if The Abyss sibling ends up being/becoming Nyx, but I like this version more xD

But even if the main theory ends up being wrong, I hope people you got some things to think about.

Unnecessarily long thllda theories/predictions/analysis post

Hi! Very normal hundred line fan here :)

I’ve always wanted to make a predictions kind of post and I also just wanna yap about my thoughts on the game so far. I’ve been lurking on hndr tumblr + twt and have consumed a LOT of promo content. So I’m gonna dump my thoughts here before some promo trailer debunks all my theories! Be warned: this is gonna be long and unorganized, and i dont plan on proofreading it. Also, spoilers since im gonna use promo media from beyond the demo.

What happens for the next few days after Day 7

I’ve seen several images showing members from the current group talking about not having/looking for food. Im 99% sure the current group is gonna face a hunger situation (like in SDR2) but this time, the food is being gatekept by a fellow member-

I def think Hiruko is gonna set up some scheme to push the non-fighters to join the fight—even if it’s something like breaking the Ration-o-matic with her axe– to force the non-fighters to look for food. Since she’s been fighting invaders even before the entrance exam and seems a lot more war-focused than others, I think removing the group’s only food source wouldn’t be too far off for her. In the demo, she even said she didn’t think too hard about her situation in the TRC or the consequences of not fully understanding the war— the stance opposite of Eito in the demo. Or maybe it’s because she knows more? But anyway, this hunger sitch could in turn motivate Takumi to convince the non-fighters to join through a Shot Through the Heart-like minigame.

In this lets play, seeing that there's only 2 non-fighters who joined, maybe the player is only able to convince up to 2 non-fighters to join in the limited free time? The choice of who to recruit could also be one of the things that leads to different endings, which brings me to:

The Choice System - Are there really 100 endings?

I believe the multiple endings thing is more Uchikoshi’s lane. However other than Hndr, I really only know Danganronpa so I’m mostly using my imagination here. Luckily while I was writing this, we got an interview with Uchikoshi in the hundred line blogs ^^ It clarifies a bunch of things about the 100 endings so if you are still in doubt about that, I recommend reading it!

Just as the blog says, I do genuinely believe there will be 100 endings with different kinds of genres and storylines. The game probably has enough characters and mysteries to expand the game to that extent. My main worry though, is that once players get up to something like 30 endings, trying to finish the game might start to feel tedious. Was Hundred Line's story really worth expanding in 100 different ways, rather than focusing on creating fewer, but consistently dense stories?

If Hundred Line had, say, 50 endings, that number would still be impressive—and each one would probably feel more fleshed-out and memorable. But how well each ending holds up really comes down to the other 9 writers (who we don’t really know much about).

I’m keeping my hopes up, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if half the endings end up being a lot less interesting than the other half. Here’s a very rough representation of how I envision the choice/routes flowchart:

I remember reading somewhere (twitter maybe) Kodaka saying that players can go for routes where they can finish the game the fastest– so I do think some routes/endings are shorter than others. Having some shorter routes also makes 100 endings a bit easier to accomplish!

In the demo, we got to see a glimpse of the choice mechanic (I think it doesn’t actually count as 1 of the 100 endings though). Based on this, I think there will be certain “events” occurring throughout the game that ask the player to choose between 2 options. For example, the player needs to choose either to: try to save everyone or decide who to kill off (kinda like YTTD). There would be several routes with the same events but as the player’s choices stray further away from the “true” route, the routes branch off to new crazier routes. I do wonder if it’ll be clear which one is the “True route”, or if Kodaka/Uchikoshi will reveal it outside the game. The in-game flowchart, which I think will appear when we make the first “event choice”, is gonna be really helpful in showing all the different crazy route branches. To summarize, I think the endings will vary depending on:

Who you recruit

How many die permanently

Who and how many times someone dies in battle but gets hemoanima-revived

Who and how many times someone does the final blow

Random 2-option choices in important events (like in the demo)

Types of endings:

20 bad-ish endings that end before Day 50.

20 bad-ish endings that end before Day 80.

20 bad endings that reach Day 100 where only Takumi and 1 other character survive.

15 good endings that reach Day 100 where the majority of people survive.

15 good-ish endings that reach Day 100 where 3-5 people survive.

1 bad ending where only Takumi survives

1 good ending where everyone survives (true ending?)

The rest are bad endings where no one survives

There will probably be more to it– like gameplay mechanics that haven’t been revealed yet that also affect the endings.

More on that part where someone gets revived:

Hemoanima is def some double-edged sword. I’d say it’s like a representation of “power”, seeing that war is the game’s theme. In fact, I’m very interested to see how far the game goes in showing the nuances of war conflicts, the tragedy of losing members, complex relationships– all that good stuff! Hemoanima raises your power, but in turn, it can turn people insane, power-hungry, or even–

yeah this game is gonna be fucked up.

What made me like Danganronpa (despite its many flaws) was seeing how interesting characters deal with absurd out-of-the-ordinary scenarios. Maybe a beloved Chiaki-like character (im looking at you Nozomi) dies and almost everyone turns into despair-filled zombies. Or maybe they find *hope* and get through the rest of the 100 days together with the power of friendship! EIther way, I’m very excited to see these kinds of arcs in the game.

Something else I’m excited to see is:

In Joey’s interview, Kodaka mentions *gasp* that the story splits later on! This could just be referring to a different major plot event but my crazy theory is that Nozomi is our 2nd protagonist and the player will get the choice to play as Takumi or her. If 1 of them dies, we will be locked to the other protag. I’m not exactly sure how this 2-protags thing would work but if this is true, then the endings will be much more interesting!

Having Nozomi as the 2nd protag could also explain… this:

This is the rating summary from esrb. Maybe the term “players’ character” was used since Nozomi being the 2nd protag would be a spoiler. (Having a 2nd protag probably adds a whole new layer to my theories but I’ll just refer to Takumi as the sole protag for now)

Day 28 - The 2nd-To-Last Defense Academy Students

Oop, totally forgot to talk about this. So it’s been sorta leaked that Day 28 is when the other students meet up with us.

I’m guessing we meet up during battle where the gang is “saved” by them. Maybe there’s 5 waves and we get to play one person from the 2nd group each wave, introducing us to each new student one at a time? Meeting new characters 20+ days in would be pretty exciting! Again, Nozomi being the leader of this group kinda reminds me of Chiaki being class rep in the anime.

Is Nozomi Karua?

I’m gonna say, not really. My biggest theory is that we’re dealing with an Alternate Parallel Universes thing (Spiderman comes to mind), not a VR sim or amnesia thing or whatever. In all universes, the war is somehow inevitable and the gang is brought to this one universe that keeps the one thing that keeps all universes intact (hidden in the secret room). So Nozomi would be like a parallel version of Karua, who was chosen by Sirei. Maybe there’s some dialogue where Nozomi reveals she had a childhood bestie who died early (like Takumi)? Then without someone to “protect” her, she learned to protect herself and became war-ready.

About her mom being a researcher, like many people I’m sure this isn’t just a random cool fact. I think both her parents were/are involved in the war and knew about it. Theory: Being a researcher, her mom found a way to avoid hemoanima from “corrupting” her daughter. In turn, Nozomi got sickly and doesn’t have hemoanima-compatible blood. Hence, the blue light things in her transformation instead of a blood tornado? Nozomi’s part in the story is one of the most interesting mysteries so far, and I would love to see her perspective as a protag!

Why did Sirei choose the gang?

Shouma mentioned something very interesting about his entrance exam.

He was too scared to fight so Sirei stabbed him himself to activate the hemoanima. Veeery interesting that the students don't have to stab themselves to activate it, but Sirei encourages them to do so anyway. I think this– plus how Sirei pushes for them to fight before giving more info– plus foreshadowing from Eito who wants to know more about the sitch– all leads to my theory that Sirei wants the students to feel that responsibility. Heard of the phrase, “Once you’ve killed someone, there’s no turning back?” In this case, it would be “Once your blood gets hemoanima-corrupted, there’s no going back to the way you were before.” Stabbing yourself with the hemoanima infuser means taking responsibility for the deaths you’ll cause. Or something. I’m also guessing that Sirei chose characters from very specific universes. Because of the Shouma thing, I’m guessing he already had people in mind to recruit but he also had to choose which one is the “best” version for war. This could make for such an interesting pre-LDA story for each character! The Takumi chosen was the one who was so motivated to protect his friend that he would stab himself. The Hiruko chosen was the one who already had practice fighting the invaders. The Darumi chosen was the one who was so discontent with her life she would pounce at an opportunity to be in a killing game. Perhaps the entrance exam was done on several versions of themselves, though only 1 had succeeded in all universes? (Though I doubt that’s true for someone like Hiruko) As to why Sirei recruited a bunch of mostly battle-inexperienced highschoolers, I don’t really have a theory for.

Who’re the invaders?

I don’t know about the small weaker invaders, but I’m pretty sure that the enemy commanders are *corrupted* former humans who can no longer communicate properly. The only thing that keeps them alive is their hemoanima-infected blood and a decaying husk of flesh. They probably have little to no human blood left in their system, leaving them power-fueled zombies.

And yes, I think every student has at least one route where they get corrupted at some point (including Takumi!).

I have 2 theories for this very cute Moko and Nozomi CG. One, it happens right after the Day 28 battle where Moko gets seriously injured after helping rescue the 1st group. Two, it happens after she gets corrupted by hemoanima at some route, then gets “decorrupted?” somehow and turns back human. Either way, I’m sure I’m gonna enjoy their scenes together even though I doubt actual yuri will happen. Speaking of…

That Aotsumi/Takueito CG

Sorry but I really doubt there’s gonna be any wholesome cute yaoi (or any good canon LGBT rep) in a game co-written by Kodaka (Idk abt Uchikoshi or the other writers tho). In this route, I do think that both Eito and Takumi have gone through a lot of “bad choice” event branches here. Eito ends up insane while Takumi ends up lifeless. There’s been many theories but here’s my thoughts– If this was Takumi missing a dead Eito where the Eito here is a dream/hallucination, then I don’t think Eito would be shown looking crazy and nude. Usually when it comes to remembering dead well-liked characters, the protag would be thinking of a cute memory or imagining them talking reminiscently beside them. Like that ending scene in the anime with Hajime and Chiaki or ghost Kaede playing Clair de Lune. I also don’t think it’s like a sudden one-sided Eito thing where he forces himself on Takumi since Takumi doesn't seem fazed. Plus he's also naked. I think they’re both messed in the head here. But honestly, I will happily take any queerbait crumbs I can get. (I’m already too far gone in the takueito and nozomoko train)

Might just be the soft takueito truther in me but I also think Eito isn’t gonna be as crazy as people are making him out to be. I think every student will go insane at some point- though I’m sure each one will also have some likable traits— especially since we get to explore more of their backstories and actually see their potential realized, unlike ⅓ of the Danganronpa cast tbh. A cast full of big personalities would probably be better handled in a game like Hundred line, where each character gets a chance to be connected to the main story. Speaking of potential…

I’m proud to say I’ve invested in IMACOIN✨

There’s a really disturbing scene from the jp hndr twitter account and this Kodaka tweet–

– that’s really testing the imacoin stocks but here’s my 2 cents (imacents?):

In the demo, it’s implied that the twins had a rough childhood. Since Ima has the “Special Misconduct” skill while Kako has “Special Good Conduct,” I’m guessing Ima had to do a lot of shady crafty things to support them growing up. He developed a need to protect her innocence because of all the shit he went through as a kid, which led to– lets call it– his “possessiveness” over her. BUT his motivation to keep doing that kinda stuff to keep them afloat is born out of both love and resentment for her. She became his reason to live– and his reason to keep suffering, never putting himself before her safety, always putting himself in front of her. One thing that I hope isn’t true is the very blatant suggestive implications of actual incest happening. Never been a fan of incest plots in Danganronpa. My very optimistic theory (and the one that’s fueling my imacoin investment) is that Ima is blatantly acting overprotective of his sis to not let anyone come anywhere close to harming her. He is self-aware and being very suggestive on purpose so that people are weirded out and don’t try anything. Kinda like acting as if “she’s mine” even though that’s not how he actually feels about Kako. Still weird for Ima but that’s the most non-toxic dynamic I’ve thought of so far. I’ll just say that I’m looking forward to seeing his Ima redemption arc when Kako gets the guts to do her own thing (or when Kako dies). Invest in Imacoin! (or don’t, totally reasonable if you don’t)

Dark Souls 1 faces references Part 1: Oscar, Ricard, Solaire,

Heyyyy Dark Souls artists (all five of you who still use this website fdshfhd), I have great news for you! The curse of Dark Souls 1 (being horrendously undocumented in terms of NPC references) is over!!!

Long story short, I've seen a screenshot of Ciaran that made me question whether she actually had face data in versions of the DLC before Remastered. That started a long chain of me asking literally every person online that I could think of, with no one responding except for single Redditor redirecting me to modding community for Soulsborne, and there, out of waaaaay too many people, finally, someone was kind enough to help me out!

Their only contacts I have for reference are rayanwasalsotaken on Discord and RayanTheMad on Twitter! Yet I've only learned Rayan had a Twitter AFTER posting the screenshot dumps there, so.... 🤡 yeah that was frustrating. Twitter allow editting posts already!! They told me to be free to share the screenshots they gathered online instead of them (they said it was jarring for them to go spread images across social media and wikis. fair and valid.)! Posts will be in several parts as there are several angle shots and sometimes some explaining to do!

Oscar

Okay so, apparently, the boy does not have blue eyes! You know who does (kinda) have? RICARD!

Ricard

Well, actually not even blue, but a more dark shade of greyish green!

Nonetheless, it could be assumed blue from afar! ! And, fun fact! Whereas they look very similar, they are NOT identical!

Aside of having different eye color and Ricard's hair being more saturated (more yellow), they do have different eye shape too; Ricard's is more downturned! Ricard also has a slightly bigger nose! I guess even with limitations of NPC data of Dark Souls 1, they did try to point out the differences in vibe!

Solaire

Nothing new to see here, his screenshots are actually viral, unlike others, but here have a look anyway x) Interestingly enough, his face data changes the hairstyle in the bad ending of his questline; whereas Rayan didn't take screenshot of just that change specifically, it actually IS documented and confirmed!

(This screenshot is from different source: ( x )) I just think it is really good to know that even back in Dark Souls 1, developers bothered to add the lore appropriate changes that are not even possible to observe without datamining dhfhdsdf

Anastacia

Interestingly enough, while Anastacia uses unique model rather than player NPC base one, the data for NPC still exists in the game's files, apparently!

It is actually very convenient to have it, because her unique model does NOT have eyes texture:

At the same time, you can see that this 'unique model' appears to reuse assets from NPC data, as the model for hair is identical, and her face even has the same issue of eyebrows always being that brown color when they aren't grey. I wonder if NPC model lacked functionality intended (like NPC models weren't created to have this pose and animation), so they copy+pasted it mostly on unique asset?

Even with that, I suppose her hair is canonically more "yellow", and her player model is the only reference for her eye color.

Color of Estus Flask (the flask itself, not liquid inside of it!), appropriately enough!

Additionally, the hairbun is definitely something they've settled with even in her concept, so I suppose she holds "priority" for this hairstyle! RIP the braid though

SMILE 2 ENDING THEORY (re-explained)

I'm doing this again because I didn't really like how I did it in my last post. It was very rushed and I was kinda on a time crunch at the time. I think i didn’t really explain it well enough for people to understand, i mean there are probably some of you that did but looking back in my eyes it just looks like shit and not properly explained. I posted it on my second IG account where I now post some theories and updates on other stuff and since IG has a word limit I couldn’t explain a lot more of it and just used that to put it on here and add a little more but it just wasn’t enough for me at least. (Edit: I don't have the account anymore lmao)

So here is the theory properly explained.

A recap of what happened after Skye was chased by her backup dancers.

A few days after watching the movie in theaters I was looking back at the first teaser Interscope Records released to promote Skye’s song ‘Blood On White Satin’ released on June 14, 2024.

This was when Smile 2 was doing a secret marketing campaign to seem like Skye was a real person and it did work by making a fan account with the user ‘skyerileynation’, putting up billboards in LA and the UK with a QR code, pop culture accounts teasing her new era, another video about Skye, and having the character’s name be Quinn Parsons on the IMDB page and the casting list for the movie until the 2nd trailer released.

And they were hiding Naomi’s face so it wouldn’t ruin the marketing. Of course there were a lot of people thinking she was real.

I was looking back at it because I remember how excited I was when they said it was going to be a pop star getting the curse and she was going to be played by Naomi Scott. I love horror, pop music, and Naomi so I didn’t shut up about it for months.

Here’s the teaser.

In the teaser you can see Skye going to stage excited, obviously you can’t see her due to not ruining who she looks like but by body movement. And in the rest of the video it’s her performing the song on stage with a different outfit, showing small clips of the movie, and 2 clips of Skye facing the other way.

Now here’s the theory.

After watching the teaser again I noticed in the first 10 seconds she was wearing the exact same outfit she didn’t want to wear because it showed her scar.

I didn’t think too much of it until in the last 3 seconds of it it was her on stage looking at her fans. I quickly went back to the beginning and noticed she had the exact same hair from the end of the movie and realised it was the day of her official comeback.

I went to talk about it on twitter and said that is kinda footage of how she got there, but how exactly it was still confusing for me and a lot of people because how the hell did she go through all of that and her label still made her go on tour?????

That’s when someone replied with “The entity must’ve controlled her body there when it stuck its hand in her mouth”.

I was so surprised when I saw that because I didn’t think of that and I just thought when it put its hand in her mouth just to traumatize her or just put her to sleep.

So I also thought that it must have put a piece of it in her and when she woke up in the private clinic it wasn’t her it was the entity acting as her. Let me explain:

I think after she said “I wish you could feel what it's like to live inside my head” to her mom, some type of switch happened after the entity possessed her mom.

The real Skye was put in some type of coma in her head, obviously hallucinating the clinic, car, and the pizza hut. And the fake Skye who is being controlled by the entity apologized to Elizabeth, apologized to everyone on her team and was ready to start the tour.

And when the entity closed the doors on her and when they opened again that is when she woke up. That is why the entity said “This isn’t real, Skye” and “You’re not in control, Skye…. I am”.

So basically what I am saying is that in the first teaser they released showing Skye going on stage all happy it wasn’t her, it was the entity possessing her body all excited to curse thousands of people in the crowd.

While the real Skye was sent into some coma and woke up when she got on stage.

It was not kidding when it said “i like wearing your skin”.

If this was ever to be true by Parker Finn it would make this movie a thousand times better because it really shows how powerful the entity is and what other crazier things it can do in the 3rd movie.

So did they basically had the ending in front of our faces? Yes. Was the ending pretty predictable when they said it was going to be a pop star getting it? Yes. BUT the way Parker Finn did it made it SO FUCKING GOOD I CANT LIE.

(Also I think when Skye stabbed herself with the needle in her neck, I don’t think the drug was in there, it looked empty to me. And when she was about to faint it was probably blood loss from her foot or not eating and drinking water. Throughout the whole movie she did not eat once and that was probably because of Lewis’ death because of how gross it was or after the car crash she started not eating much.)

One more thing I want to share that doesn't really have nothing to do with this but someone in the comments on the first post of this theory thought I didn't get the whole thing of the entity and the movie even though I do. Like this is just something cool i wanted to share that is all. not everybody is going to get it when they first watch something like this that is why there are explanations videos.

World Link Events - what we know so far

I'm going to try to explain the new World Link event type as simply as possible before the Searching for a Reflection Beneath the Waters event starts tomorrow (the 8th) at 8PM JST / 11AM UTC. This covers all information that has been released, but lacks any in-game demonstration because obviously I can't do that yet. All information comes from this news post as well as the in-game event announcement. Despite trying to keep it simple, there's still a lot of information, so it's under the cut.

What is a World Link event?

World Link events are a new event type that is largely story and lore focused. They will tell the stories of how the focus unit's member's feelings have changed, and at the end of the story, the SEKAI might change too...

The event will be formatted in parts, referred to as "chapters". Each chapter will be centered around one member from the focus unit, and will have its own "chapter story". Each chapter is 2 episodes long, and there is also an intro and epilogue episode, making for a total of 10 episodes. Each chapter will also have its own ranking and exchange.

To boost your event bonus, you will be able to create an extra "support team" for this event type. Each character will have their own support unit, meaning you can make 4 support units in total.

Event ranking and exchange

There will be two rankings for this event type: chapter and overall. Chapter rankings only count the event points earnt during a chapter, and overall totals your points throughout the whole event. For example, you could get T500 on Mafuyu's chapter, but T100K on the other chapters, which would probably put you in a low position on the overall ranking despite the high ranking in one chapter. New specially-designed titles have been added for those who T100 in chapters (overall ranking will retain regular event titles).

You will earn tokens like normal by playing this event, and they can be used in the Chapter Exchange for whichever chapter is running at the time they were earned. So Mafuyu chapter tokens can only be used in the Mafuyu chapter exchange, etc. There will also be a general exchange, which can be used by converting chapter tokens into general tokens.

There is also a new item in the exchange, called Bottle of Feelings. At the end of a World Link event, you can get these from the exchange. It will give Character Rank XP, presumably to the character whose exchange you bought it from.

Event bonus and support unit

Support units will be available for each chapter of the event. They can be made from up to 12 cards, however these must be cards for characters in the event unit. For example, in the upcoming event, you cannot have VBS cards in your support team. You cannot put cards that are already in your main team in your support team.

Note that support units exclusively affect event bonus and will not have any effect on actual rhythm gameplay (i.e: skills will not activate and your team's total power will not change).

Your total event bonus will be calculated based on main unit bonus + support unit bonus. The types of bonus differ between units. Refer to the charts above (translated by @/pjsekai_eng on twitter)

Event cards

As with every other event, World Link events will feature a gacha with new cards. World Link event cards are officially known as "unit event limited members", meaning they will only appear in unit event gachas in future (e.g: the new N25 cards will be in all future N25 event gachas, but only in N25 event gachas. No mixed events and no other unit gachas. It's a similar concept to fes cards).

However, these lims are a bit different to normal lims. Instead of unlocking hairstyles at Mastery Rank 2, these unlock something called "3DMV Another Cut". This is what it says on the tin: it's an alternate cut of an existing 3DMV that will focus on the character whose card is at MR2. The alternate cut is a short piece of solo choreography that takes place in a unique stage. The normal 3DMV will cut away to this scene for a few seconds before playing the rest of the MV as normal. Here is a video I found with all the another cuts.

The Another Cut only applies to a specific MV that the card is tied to. For the 6 upcoming World Link events, their cards at MR2 will unlock Another Cuts for the relevant unit's song from the 3rd anniversary image song campaign (Twilight Light for N25, I'm Mine for Virtual Singer, the rest TBA). You can view the Another Cut by putting the card in your team and watching the affected 3DMV.

Additional notes & info about the N25 event

All four members of a unit will be featured 4*s in World Link events. Presumably when the Virutal Singer one rolls around, all six of them will be 4* cards.

There is no 3* available from the exchange in World Link events. There is a 2* available though.

There is no specific event attribute that increases bonus for this event type. All the gacha cards have a different attribute.

World Link events do not have newly commissioned songs, since they do not count as part of the "main rotation" of events. All the image songs will have been added by the 3rd World Link event

Emergency maintenance may be carried out during the upcoming event to fix any problems that occur, due to the short length of each chapter. If the game is not working properly for more than 24 hours during a chapter, the chapter will be rerun after the event (it is unknown how this will affect the WxS event scheduled to run after this one)

This event does not start at the regular time of 6AM UTC, instead starting at 11AM UTC (the usual end time for an event). Each chapter will run for 72 hours and there will only be roughly a minute gap in-between one chapter ending and another starting. Refer to the image below for the start and end times of each chapter (JST = UTC+9)

If you hadn't worked it out from the image at the top of the post and the one just above this, the order of chapters is Mafuyu->Mizuki->Ena->Kanade

The next WLE is scheduled to be Vivid BAD SQUAD in the first event in 2024. WxS is scheduled for the first event in March, MMJ for the first event in May, L/n for the first event in July, and VSinger for the first event in August.

Vaguely nsft under the cut; this is intended to be a psuedoscientific exploration of speculative biology and fairy reproduction, please don't reply to this post with highly sexual commentary (jokes are fine lmao) because this is primarily a family friendly blog.

Prefix:

Starting this off by saying that, while this post is going to focus on reproduction via their physical forms, fairies are essentially made of magic and can, for the most part, manipulate those forms at will. Think of these like the default settings of physical manifestation. Also it's worth noting that while I'm for the most part using human biology terms, fairies themselves probably have ridiculously whimsical names for all these organs that have existed for billions of years, but this isn't a language post. This is not meant to be a full comprehensive medical guide to the complexities of gender in fairy culture, nor will it cover every possible variation of default physical forms. This is your middle school "where do babies come from" level of documentation. The terms "male" and "female" are used to describe fairies as they are "assigned" at birth, however, please don't take this to mean trans and nonbinary fairies don't exist, they definitely do.

Anatomy:

When manifesting physical forms, fairies develop traits based on the dominant species of the world they will primarily engage with, in this case, humans. (1) This leads to the development of secondary sex characteristics such as breast tissue and facial hair. While these traits have evolved over millennia spent alongside humans, they are still derived from magic, and can not be used to qualify fairies as mammals. Fairies are an oviviparous species, meaning an embryo will develop within a fertilized egg and depend on that egg for nutrients, but will hatch inside the parent's body and result in a live birth. (2)

Females produce eggs and lay them via an ovipositor. Males produce sperm via internal testes used to fertilize eggs as they pass through the birth canal towards the brood pouch via penetration by ovipositor. The birth canal and ovipositor are both is self lubricating when aroused to assist the transfer of eggs, and the internal pelvic muscular structure in male fairies is designed to pull the eggs as deep as possible to increase chances of fertilization within the brood pouch. The urinary and reproductive systems are completely separate because they keep canonically arguing about leaving the toilet seat up and while I'm only loosely respectful of canon I can also do whatever I want forever. The female urethra exists behind the ovipositor while the male urethra is connected to a non-reproductively functional penis. Ovipositors tend to be slightly larger than penises, and female fairies tend to be slightly larger than males in general, but this is primarily dependent on the individuals Both the ovipositor and penis have an abundance of nerve endings and experience arousal, though male ejaculation is entirely internal. The brood pouch is functionally a uterus in human terms, however, as the developing embryo derives nutrients from the egg and has no need to fully attach, the brood pouch does not have a lining and, sorry everyone, men don't get periods, nobody has to get periods in my world because I'm a benevolent god. Fairies experience 3 types of puberty, "pooferty(3)" "pasta puberty(4)" and sexual maturation. The first two of these involve developmental milestones and magic-hormone interactions, so they are best set to the wayside for a different post, though I will note here that most secondary sex characteristics will develop in manifest forms at the end stages of pasta puberty. The sexual maturation stage of puberty is the only stage in which hormone production is more of an active cause than magic. Females may begin laying eggs during this time, and nocturnal depositing is very common in teenagers and nothing to be ashamed of, it's a very normal experience to wake up to the occasional egg or two. At the end of class you'll receive a pamphlet with a section on proper disposal spells. Males may experience abdominal cramping during third puberty, as their brood pouch swells slightly to accommodate possible eggs, this is not cyclical in the way human periods are, and once they've had their last growth spurt and the pouch settles in its more spacious form, any residual cramping should subside. Until then, the pamphlets offered at the end of class will also have a section on magical pain relief.

Reproduction:

A female fairy can lay between 1-5 eggs, which are semi-gelatinous in texture and range from .5"-1" (1.27-2.54cm) in size. Egg coloration comes in a myriad of pastels, but despite some outdated theories, the coloration of the egg indicates nothing about the potential appearance of the baby. As previously stated, when the female lays her egg/s inside the male they are fertilized internally. The male will carry the fertilized egg/s in his brood pouch, but the embryo will remain inside the egg through development, using it as a source of magical nutrients If an egg laid inside a partner in whatever orifice is not successfully fertilized, it dissolves within a matter of 6-12 hours. Birth control looks a lot different for fairies because it's essentially exclusive to a morning after spell to forcibly dissolve the eggs anyway. After a 3 month gestation period, the embryo will have fully absorbed the nutrients from the egg and will essentially have "eaten" it's way out, which will trigger the father going into labor and, theoretically, delivering the baby via birth canal. In practice however, magical c-sections(5) were the go-to long before the baby ban. Seriously this has been the preferred method for millennia. Only holier-than-tho crunchy granola weirdos get superior about non-magically assisted delivery.

What is the difference between twitter and tumblr

there's a lot of differences between them, from community to functionality. we'd be here all week if i listed every single one, so i'm just gonna name a few: 1. the community on tumblr is a lot more chill than the one on twitter. tumblr users HIGHLY encourage curating your own experience, it's basically impossible to be on tumblr for a while without seeing at least one post encouraging you to unfollow/block people you dont vibe with, not respond to hateful asks and block mean anons, and filter tags you dont like. this isn't to say that other apps don't do the same thing, but in my experience, tumblr users are far more vocal about it. it's very ingrained in the app's culture as a whole. linking this back to the SC fandom real quick: I've only been faced with one drama on tumblr, compared to twitter where it seems like every fucking day some new shit pops up. tumblr-exclusive SC fans are largely unaware of any of the crazy shit that goes on on twitter. i keep saying this to my moots but it is genuinely far more peaceful on here than on twitter. 2. tumblr is also more slow-paced than twitter because the character limit on this app is HUGE (4096 characters per text block, and tumblr allows a total of 1000 content blocks per post, meaning that if you use every content block you have exclusively for text, the total character limit is 4,096,000 characters per post. thats like 630154 - 819200 words !! also, reblogs count as their own post, and you can reblog a post a near infinite number of times (ignoring the 250 post limit a day.)), which i think is part of the reason why this app is more chill. it's less stressful, it feels like you can take your time on here. this isn't mentioning that you can attach up to 10 images to a post, making tumblr a better app for both writers and artists compared to twitter. the more you stay on this app, the more you notice that a lot of posts are very long. 3. i've said this on another post of mine (which i really recommend reading if you have the time because i talk a lot about the importance of reblogging posts on tumblr, among other things), but I'll say it here again: while the community on tumblr is more chill, it's also very quiet. a lot of tumblr users have become very passive in their engagement with posts, only liking and never reblogging. in my personal experience, i've found that you get far more engagement and reach on twitter than on tumblr (emphasis on personal experience, because a few of my friends have told me that they actually get more interaction on tumblr than on twitter.) in short: twitter is where you go to get famous, tumblr is where you go to hang out with friends. 4. this point came from my friend @buggyboo-exe, he said: "I'd add the fact that Tumblr allows for more, how do I say, personal interaction? On Twitter sure, you can follow people and see just your follower's posts and everything but Tumblr not only has the ask box, it also gives you the feature to answer those asks privately. I think it's just easier to make friends on Tumblr and actually keep those friends long term than on Twitter. Likely due to the slow paced thing as well. I'm not sure how to explain it better. Tumblr also started the whole "moots" thing I believe so followers are always seen more as friends then anywhere else." I think this point is very solid because, yes, although I think twitter is better in terms of quantity of engagement, tumblr allows for deeper, more personal interaction. a lot of my closest friends on this fandom are ones I've made on tumblr. I feel way more comfortable goofing around and being silly with them publicly on here than on twitter.

5. this is something I wanted to add to the post i linked in point 3 but forgot to, and that is that tumblr is more or less timeless. it's very, very, VERY common to come across posts from as far back as 15 years ago. you basically never see twitter posts ever again if they weren't made this year, but on tumblr? it's not unusual to see a post from 2015 circulating. it's not weird to reblog art or writing from months or years ago. it's also not weird to go through an artist's blog and just reblog/like all their posts in one sitting. (also, reblogging a post means you get to keep a copy of it on your blog forever. meaning that even if a user deletes their blog, or deletes the post itself, as long as you've reblogged it it's never truly gone. reblog your favorite posts if you wanna keep them with you forever!!) 6. tumblr users REALLY stress anonymity. one of the first things i told my twitter mutuals was to PRIVATE YOUR LIKES AND FOLLOWING TABS !! no one wants or needs to see that stuff. this is your personal blog, you're allowed to and even encouraged to keep things about yourself private. it is usually extremely easy to tell who is and isnt a tumblr user, because twitter users tend to: have their likes and following visible, don't have a blog title, dont have a personal blog theme, and only like posts with little to no reblogs.

I'll cut myself off here because this post is getting very long, but yeah, there's a LOTTTT of differences. i hope this answered your question !! and to anyone reading this, feel free to ask me if you have any other questions about being on tumblr. hello readers. AITA for visiting a friend in another country before visiting a different friend in a different (neighboring, but still a good 7-10hr trip) country?

some context: friend 1 and i have been online friends for over a decade. by reasons of circumstance- they're a few years older than me so they could travel easier, their family is more affluent whereas mine couldn't shell out ~1k for an overseas flight until i was able to make that money myself as an adult, they had already graduated college and could travel easier than when i was still in college and could not (summer was technically an option but friend 1 hates hot weather and getting sweaty, so they always wanted to meet up in colder months, which limited my schedule)- the four times we've been able to hang out in person, they came to visit me instead of vice versa. the 4th time was a couple years ago, and they purchased tickets at the start of that year (2022). however, at the same start of that year, i got involved in a new community and met a lot of amazing people, especially friend 2, who quickly became one of my best friends in a short amount of time. it was just one of those instant connections, y'know?

anyway. fast forward about six months. since friend 1 was already coming here towards the end of 2022, and there was no refunding those tickets, friend 2 and i wound up making plans to see each other. but they couldn't easily afford the plane fare, so i decided to go visit them in their home country instead. part of the reason i never had done so with friend 1 before was bc i just wasn't mentally ready to be so far from family, in a different country, by myself - i had a lot of anxiety about such a long trip. i still had some now, but after going through covid and such, i changed a decent amount as a person, and wasn't quite as anxious anymore. i had also moved out, so i was more used to being away from family by then.

the trip with friend 2 wasn't going to happen until 2023. when friend 1 came to visit, however, they found out about the trip (by apparently looking through my likes on twitter, where friend 2 had made a post about it) and completely broke down. i had been trying to figure out a way to tell them, but had a feeling that any method would result in this exact reaction, so i had put it off, until i was unfortunately proven correct.

further context: friend 1 and i have never been great at honest communication. this is a fault of both of ours, but i feel like i am able to admit it more honestly, apologize/own up to it, and try and make changes. we met young and immature, and the majority of our talk over the years has been superficial, solely about fantasy characters. when i got too busy in college, and my time/interest in characters declined, i felt more and more like our relationship wasn't as fulfilling. i was afraid to bring this up because on two separate occasions in the past, when i mentioned hanging out with other friends (and in one if the situations, which was an online game, i invited friend 1 to join us) i was immediately ghosted by friend 1 for a few days. so i stopped feeling able to bring up any plans with friends going forward, for fear they wouldn't take it well. i made up excuses and lies when i DID hang out with other people to explain away my absence (we were used to talking daily, but it felt like an obligation after a time, as they'd always ask why i wasn't online for a day). obvs, none of this is healthy, but it led to how i (mis)handled the current situation.

friend 1 found out, we had a lot of difficult talks on a trip that was supposed to be fun, and throughout the remainder of the trip i basically felt watched for whenever i was on my phone - lots of passive aggressive comments dropped about how "they wouldn't use social media on a trip like this, bc they could just do that at home". i was accused of being in love with friend 2, bc why else would i wanna go visit them so soon into a friendship, of not wanting friend 1 to even be here, of "holding something that happened years ago" over them (the ghosting) when i tried to explain why i didn't tell them. (i don't hold the situations themselves against them anymore, but it's had a profound interaction on how i conduct myself in relationships now). they said that they wanted to be my first international experience, which i get, but in my mind, it's two completely different countries, and they were already coming to visit before these plans were even made. they also made it clear they didn't care about the circumstances, friend 1 just wanted to be "my first" no matter what i said. i felt/still feel like that's too controlling, basically asking me not to go hang out with friend 2 bc i didn't adhere to their timetable for it first.

i had an amazing time with friend 2, and it was just an overall more comfortable experience. i still feel like i owe friend 1 a visit, even though i don't see a long future for our dying friendship (and even, if i'm being very honest with myself, i don't want to go visit them). personally, i'm fine with this - we've just grown into different people imo. but they don't have many friends, and had a couple rough ghostings from previous friends of their own, so i feel guilty about wanting to call it quits on ours, which again i know they won't take well. i just don't think we're compatible anymore, but even so, this whole situation has continued to eat at me even though it's been nearly a year now. i keep wondering if i really am in the wrong here, if i wasn't as considerate as i should have been, if i shouldn't be so blase about ending a decade+ friendship.
