Yandere! Bruce Wayne x Yandere! (Fem!) Reader
> romantic > summary: Ever since you asked him to help with your… reconnaissance, he’s been nothing but a great help. And judgment-free. Batman is as paranoid and insane as you are, and that is why he is quite possibly your best friend. > word count: 1285 > [ a/n: just something short, something cute, something for the Girls. i think mutually yandere relationships are a fun dynamic not very explored!!! Still, its pretty mild yandereism here. Trying to warm up to writing bitches who are Actual Freaks . uhhh lmk what you think. hope i communicated the reader's backstory well. the fact she's only a little crazy is amazing, all things considered. i'd love to make a whole fic of this but alas, i am Not Very Good At Plot]
You are dating Bruce Wayne. You bite your lip at the thought, hoping it disguises your shit-eating grin. You have been told you look like a total cheeseball when you daydream.
It’s a month-long relationship that’s still currently under the radar because you don’t have the luxury of a dual superhero-civilian persona. First, getting trapped in a pocket dimension for 10 years because something-something-Speedforce; next, being booted back into your home dimension and falling out the sky; then, wreaking havoc in Gotham City with your new, uncontrollable powers unmasked and in clear view of Gotham City choppers and news cameras… These things secretive identities do not make. No matter.
Hence why you tend to stay holed up in the Justice League’s Watchtower or your apartment, and rarely go out otherwise. But a month ago, you were bored. Neurotic. You decided to help your good buddy Batman. Fly to Gotham with your power and surprise him on patrol. And, well, you ended up saving Bruce Wayne (and hundreds of other socialites) after a three ton bowling ball careened into a gala at Wayne Tower, courtesy of the Riddler. Your telekinesis kept the whole building from collapsing. You guess that must’ve really turned Bruce Wayne on, because he was shortly afterwards chatting you up and won your phone number.
On your first date with Gotham’s Most Eligible Bachelor, you blurt out, flustering, that you don’t want to overshadow his charity and all the good work he’s doing. Bruce Wayne dating anyone makes headlines – let alone a superhero. Yes, yes. You simply didn’t want to cramp Bruce Wayne’s philanthropic style. It wasn’t that you were utterly unprepared to have that level of media scrutiny on you and were insecure about dating a man completely out of your league.
Bruce thanked you for your concern and then kissed you deeply, expertly, for your trouble.
You replay that night’s events in your head, and– goddamnit– cheeseball. You clear your throat and clear your mind.
“I think I’ll want a copy of his birth certificate from Gotham General.”
You glance at Batman, who is seated beside you, and see the corner of his lips quirk.
“Because you’re going to pull up his birth chart.” Batman knows astrology is an enduring interest of yours. You pout, pulling up Gotham General’s files and sifting through the database.
“... Maybe.”
You pause from your search on one of the Justice League’s supercomputers, sneaking a sheepish glance at your co-conspirator. Ever since you asked him to help with your… reconnaissance, he’s been nothing but a great help. And judgment-free. Batman is as paranoid and insane as you are, and that is why he is quite possibly your best friend.
You flush. “You know– I– Thanks, Bats. Really. I’m glad you aren’t acting all weird about this.”
Batman doesn’t say anything, but you know that he’s giving you his full attention.
“Like, I’m not a freak or anything. I just have to make sure I know what I’m getting into.” You puff your cheeks. “Know he’s… you know. Good.”
What a lie. You’re just scared and don’t want to get caught with your pants down. Despite being an actual living, breathing, metahuman and superhero… Bruce is the one with the power in this relationship. He’s… everything. Encapsulating. Towering. Anyone would want him. You think of the lingering looks very, very beautiful women give him. Everyone does want him.
You feel a pang of violent loathing and nausea that is tided over when Batman speaks.
“... I know plenty about Bruce Wayne. He’s… good.”
Your brows rise. You’ve only known the man for a few months but even you know that’s a glowing compliment coming from Batman. His highest praise on most people is usually neutral at best. “Hmm… okay.” You turn back to your work, laughing. “Well. I also just think he’s kind of interesting to learn about. What other celebrity has this much lore? The prodigal son… Prince of Gotham… Collector of orphans… Gotham’s Most Eligible Bachelor...”
You worry your lip, gnashing your teeth. Bachelor. That’s what everyone thinks he is, right? You blink and curiously turn to Batman, whose hands are flying across a keyboard, hard at work. You hope you’re not bothering him. W-well, he’d say if I were, right? you think.
“Is it weird if I put cameras in Wayne Manor?”
Batman stills and your throat dries. Damn.
“... Um… Too weird…?”
After a tentative silence, Batman responds.
“... No. You’re just covering your bases.”
Your cheeks fill with color as being vindicated – a view you don’t know makes his heart race marginally quicker.
“Yeah!” You cough, composing yourself. “I mean, yeah. You can learn a lot about someone from what they get up to when they think they’re alone.” You can also make sure they’re not bringing anyone home, but you keep that part to yourself.
“I could plant them, if you need. I have plenty made for this kind of surveillance.”
You’re smiling widely, wheeling your chair over to Batman’s side before you know it.
“... God. Batman, you magnificent mind, you. This is why we’re buddies.” You lean over and poke his chest cheekily, right on the bat emblem.
Bruce has to restrain himself from catching your hand on its retreat. Your poke burns a hole in his chest for minutes afterward, and he welcomes every second of it. He turns back to his computer screen, vainly attempting to not think about how much he wants to kiss you right now.
Perhaps Bruce should’ve simply asked you out as Batman. You spend much more time when he’s under the cowl than not. But frankly, you would’ve been too distracted during missions. Hell, he would’ve been too distracted. He already thinks of you all the time.
Your investigation into Bruce Wayne has tripped several of his alarms, even before you told him of it. Anyone making inquiries with this level of depth draws his attention. Nothing you’re looking is anything he’s averse to you knowing, so he’s allowed you to investigate him freely and without redirection. But of course, you don’t know that. The effort you’re making is… cute. The fact you don’t know that Batman is Bruce is cute. You think you have the upper hand. And that’s… cute.
Bruce doesn’t think too deeply about your stalking, even though he probably should. It’s probably evidence of an unstable individual. He’s sure ten years alone with no stimuli in a pocket dimension does things to a person. But who was he to judge? He’s violated the privacy and boundaries of everyone who affects his life in any important way. Nor does he claim to be a shining example of ideal mental health.
And at the end of the day, this situation is all under his control.
There is a small part of him that feels guilty for keeping his identity under wraps, but there’s a bigger part that’s amused. You don’t know that he’s had your birth certificate since the day after you met. You don’t know that there’s about twenty cameras working 24/7 in and out of your apartment. Or that he’s your new landlord. These are things he’ll tease you about once he confesses that he’s Batman. You’ve made him someone who likes to tease.
Still, Bruce remains hesitant about telling you. How would you react? Would you feel betrayed? Hurt? Dread floods his bloodstream, an effect only the most depraved individuals in his rogues gallery tend to have on him.
Would you leave him? Hate him?
His eyes skirt towards where you sit. You worry your lip, eyes glued to a plan of Wayne Manor, no doubt debating where you want him to place the cameras he’s offered. Tension leaves his shoulders, almost imperceptible.
Luckily, the chances of that seem slim.

"Does He Know, Chat?" - The Conflict of Timbern
There's so much about Tim Drake: Robin that is characterized by being a cancelled run. Like, every reading of it should come with the context that they meant to do way more and were forced to close the doors early because of sales. The knowledge that we'd basically been doing Act 1 this whole time puts a lot into perspective!
While the overarching plot had just started to kick in and I think that's what most people catch, that it seemed slow to move (Something I think isn't necessarily true either but that's another day another longpost). BUT I think many people miss that we'd also just started to hit the meat of Tim and Bernard's relationship.
Specifically, we'd just - JUST - gotten enough information to deduce the central complication to their relationship. A miscommunication of epic proportions that affects how two people that very much love each other view the other and their place in the relationship. One that actually does have a few cracks showing on-panel! I think - and I'm being more speculative than usual here, but I feel solid about this one - if the comic had gone on, we'd have seen this become The Conflict.
Spoilers for Tim Drake: Robin under the cut. And as a VERY important note, because this is under the lens of an exploration of what the run was building to before it was cancelled, we'll be assuming that information given out in the last two issues was what the writer intended to give out later, but rushed for the ending.
Anyway, I call this game "Does he Know, chat?"
Step 1: Bernard Knows

Yeah, this is pretty straightforward. He says this one out loud to the audience.
I've previously made the case, or at least implied that it is the case, that Bernard not only knows, but he knows that Tim is Robin for his entire time onscreen for the TD:R run. This is because he is hilarious about it.

Absolute icon. He's so unserious
He's hilarious about it and he's also... cagey about it. He lets Tim move at his own pace about telling him, but he also pries gently into it when he thinks Tim might be in over his head.
RIGHT, ANAKIN?
we're coming BACK to this conversation later in full trust
When exactly did he figure it out? Dunno. Doesn't really matter for anything besides comedy value. I think it is the most funny if he somehow put it together years ago, but I think the evidence of his trolling and doublespeak points to somewhere between his reintroduction in Urban Legends and the start of TD:R - you could argue that him asking Robin to take his last words to Tim is when he figures it out, but that's ehhhhhh. It don't mattah.
Step 2: Tim Doesn't Know Bernard Knows
So like. Tim doesn't fucking know, chat
No literally like I'm combing through the entire comic. Is there any indication he knows besides Bernard assuming that he does? We see his thought bubbles. Since it's really hard to show the absence of a panel let's just take some looks at Tim Drake's Inner Monologues While Hanging Out With The Guy That He Allegedly Knows Knows His Secret Identity
I could scrape for more examples, and there are more, but we get this, right? This is not how you think about the guy you know knows your secret. He is in fact straight up anxious about Bernard finding out that he's been lying to him. He goes out of his way to point out that he's not sharing his full self, which would presumably include, as the mooks put it, da Bats.
Actually, no, I changed my mind. Let's scrape for more examples. All of those are pretty early on, so what about in the middle of the comic?
Still actively hiding his mask from Bernard. Visibly panicked. From Bernard's revelation, we know that Bernard is fully aware of who he's talking to - one might even take this conversation as him prodding at Tim to just stop the charade already, but having fun with it.
Like "I don't think I'd be dating my boyfriend if it weren't for you" speaking to the boyfriend in question. LMAOOOOOOOOO Bernard I'd die for you
Tim's so firmly separated his identities and doubled down on keeping this secret from Bernard, in fact, that in their penultimate meetup before the finale, he grieves the fact that he can't be there to comfort Bernard as himself.
I don't think this is because he was simply unwilling to come as Tim. This is, put together with everything else, the behaviour of someone who. Well. Doesn't Know, chat.
Oh yeah and there is also that he outright says "Bernard can't Know" but what would the fun be in leading with that 💖
Step 3: Bernard Doesn't Know Tim Doesn't Know Bernard Knows
Okay so now we're really getting into the juice of this.
Bernard thinks they're on the level.
A lot of people see this as proof that Tim does in fact know, but the thing is that, as we just handily established, everything we see from Tim's POV contradicts this. Sometimes explicitly.
Which leaves the obvious answer - that Bernard is an unreliable narrator. He doesn't fucking Know, chat!
Hey sooooooo remember how I said that Bernard has a habit of dropping Robinisms into conversation or bringing up Tim to Robin because he's prodding at Tim to drop it?
Bernard you are soooo insane for this level of doublespeak. Just talk to your boyfriend my man
Bro sincerely thinks that Tim is just. Holding out on him on a pretense. This explains why he is so GOD DAMN MAD when Tim comes knocking as Robin when the Chaos Cult comes back to town.
Like. From the Bernard POV. The disrespect from Tim here.
Step 4 - Ruh Roh Raggy
This is, as the writers' workshops say, THE CONFLICT. The fundamental disconnect of Tim and Bernard's relationship is that they're going through the same motions and interpreting them completely differently!
Tim DOESN'T realize Bernard is smarter than he appears he DOESN'T realize that every time he's sent Bernard away or tried to send him away to deal with something, something that happens repeatedly
that Bernard has known that he wasn't letting him into his life all the way and he DOESN'T trust Bernard enough to let him in despite Bernard making him very happy. He's so hung up on doing the relationship Right and not compromising Robin as he learned it from Batman (Themes!) that he misses that he has a competent partner right next to him who is willing to be his equal.
I sincerely believe that we were in the buildup for this to come to a head when the run was cancelled. The buildup itself is, in fact, excellent - as we've proven, if you're paying attention, you can see this coming like an oncoming train.
I actually specifically want to highlight how tightly Page fucking 2 of the run sets this up. Like mmmmmm writing masterclass here
This page is doing double duty as foreshadowing the Moriarty fakeout (Ooooh is Bernard the bad guy? No lol) and just setting up that Bernard knows and that Tim is too distracted by Bernard... being the Bernard he likes to put forward... to notice.
Like it is genuinely impressive how many conversations in this run, on reread, mean completely different things to both participants, and they start it RIGHT away.
I've been focused on Tim here so far but on Bernard's side he's just. He speaks in doublespeak all the time. Like even when it's something he's upset about or has hurt him in the past he just keeps it in and hints at it because he trusts Tim blindly to understand because he's a detective and shit. Look at this mf he can't turn the layered meanings machine off he's even doing it in the Pride Special
THE PRIDE SPECIAL!! Metaphor loving mf... you're everything to me you funny bastard
So basically if this had been allowed to run its course...
Step 5 - Okay so we now Know that Bernard Doesn't Know that Tim Doesn't Know that Bernard Knows. what now
... Well, it would have been really fucking interesting!! I think Bernard would not have been happy to know he'd been so thoroughly misunderstood and underestimated, and I think Tim would have been very torn between his bat-training and what needed to be done to make things work between them.
Personally? I think that Tim would have learned that he doesn't need to be the Robin that he was before and that it was getting in the way of really knowing Bernard. At the same time that Bernard learned that his conception of Robin (and by extension Tim) as larger than life was getting in the way of knowing who Tim really was.
Step X - Reflections
I find myself, like... I keep coming back to these two. The build here is incredible, and subtle, and it's really a credit to the writing that I can just go back and panel by panel always find some new way that it was tightly written when looking for the panels for these writeups. Their interactions are layered, and each layer has something interesting going on. Really great use of (in the interim I learned the proper term for this!) delayed decoding! I really don't understand why people don't think Tim is interesting in this, too. He's out here being the second funniest mf in Gotham.
Unfortunately, having to end the run on Tim being rescued in costume by Bernard being the world's least subtle about Knowing, we kinda blew our chance to slowburn this in canon. Maybe a good canon divergent fanfic departing from before the last issue could do this justice, idk.
Such is comics! Hope this turns out to be good reference material for someone, at least.
Seeya!

❛ DADZAI?? ❜

DAD!Dazai Osamu X MUM!Reader
WC: 1k+ | WARNINGS: x fem reader, reader is a mother, dazai is a father, you both have a daughter, ooc dazai? + more
⋆·˚ ༘ * 𝑅𝐸𝒬𝒰𝐸𝒮𝒯 :: hihihi!!! this idea has been stuck in my head for the longest time, And I absolutely love ur writing style!!!!!!!! So I’m wondering if it’s possible for you to write a dadzai x fem!reader and he has a little daughter!! Thank u!!! - ANON
m.list | bsd m.list

Dazai would be the ultimate playful dad. He'd constantly come up with games to entertain his daughter, he'd let her win every time! he doesn't love to see his little princess sad, he wants her happy all the time. No tears around here!
Dazai’s teasing extends to both you and your daughter. He’d affectionately poke fun at the little things, like when his daughter mispronounces words or when you’re caught being overly serious.
Dazai is very protective of the both of you, your his only family, your his wife, and she's his daughter. He makes sure everything is secure, he doesn't want either of you in danger, he's always looking out for the threats, especially considering what his last job was.
Dazai would constantly shower his daughter with affection, but in the most chaotic way possible. Imagine him picking her up and spinning her around until she’s dizzy with laughter, or carrying her on his shoulders >.<
After your daughter goes to bed, Dazai loves having lovey-dovey moments with you, kissing you, hugging you, teasing you, having sex with you, he loves you all.
Dazai always be thinking of spontaneous adventures to take you and your daughter on (yes he will avoid work by doing this, he's hitting two birds with one stone) loves to watch his little girl play on the playground, making sandcastles but he glares at any boys who goes up to her.
Protective Dazai! GLARES AT THE LITTLE BOYS WHO WALK UP TO HIS LITTLE PRINCESS 😭🙏🏼
Dazai’s attempts at teaching his daughter important life lessons would often be... unorthodox. He’d tell her bizarre metaphors or use strange examples... when she's older, in her teen years, she starts talking about a double suicide as well...
When his daughter comes home with school projects or arts and crafts, Dazai gets surprisingly into it. He’d help her build the most elaborate school project.
As much as he wants to shelter his daughter, Dazai also believes in giving her independence to explore the world. He trusts that with both of your guidance, she’ll grow into someone independent.
BEDTIME STORIES!! DAZAI LOVES PULLING GUNNY VOICES WHILE READING HIS PRINCESS A STORY! He’d act out characters, make exaggerated voices, and then cuddle up with her until she falls asleep, her tiny hand clutching his 🥺
Dazai and your daughter would often conspire against you in the cutest of ways, like pretending to plan a prank or plotting a surprise just to make you laugh.
Now.... Beast!Dazai as a father...
Dazai would soften in front of his daughter, would absolutely never get mad, never yell, none of that. He is incredibly protective of the both of you, almost to the point where he is paranoid because he's scared something might happen to you and his little princess.
Though he’s a feared man in the underworld, when he’s home, he’s a completely different person with his daughter. He’ll play peek-a-boo, help her chase butterflies, and allow her to style his hair (which is why he often has bows or clips in his hair when you come home)
He’s big on teaching his daughter how to read people and situations. Even from a young age, he’ll subtly point out things like body language, tone of voice, and how to trust her instincts. He wants her to be sharp and never get hurt, he doesn't want her to suffer in a world like his
Dazai spoils you both, bringing back gifts with him after missions, flowers, toys, all of that. He loves to see his girls happy.
On nights where he can’t sleep (which is often), you’ll find him in his daughter’s room, quietly watching her sleep (NOT IN A CREEPY WAY LAMFOBSOJBVLS) Sometimes, he’ll hum lullabies from his childhood to soothe himself as much as his daughter.
You are the one person who keeps Dazai grounded. While his daughter melts his heart, you provide him with emotional stability. He’ll confide in you about his fears of failing as a father, or anything, because he knows you're there to help him, to help him do teh right things, reassure him, telling him that he's doing the best.
Dazai trains his daughter in self defense. He doesn't want her involved in the mafia, he just wants her to be able to protect herself. He only does it when his pretty wifey isn't home though... he doesn't want to get scolded for you catching him teaching her how to wield and shoot a gun
Family nights every night! Dazai never knows when his last night will be so he makes you eat together, watch a movie, reading a story to his daughter every night without a fail because he chesrishes these moments so much.
Dazai isn’t big on over-the-top displays of affection in public, but when it’s just you and him, he’ll wrap his arms around you, especially when he’s feeling vulnerable. He’ll kiss your forehead or play with your hair.
Dazai would raise his daughter to be independent. He’ll often praise her when she tries to solve problems on her own, even if it’s just something as small as putting her toys away. He wants her to grow up capable, strong enough so a man doesn't need to provide for her (even if shes an adult, dazai will never approve of a man with her)
Though Dazai is laid-back around you, once his daughter starts showing affection to other male figures, whether it's an innocent crush or just bonding with a friend, he’ll get hilariously overprotective. You’d have to reassure him that his little girl isn’t going anywhere 😭🙏🏼
He has a habit of giving his daughter cute nicknames, princess, my little girl, my little princess!
Dazai occasionally fears that he won’t be a good father because of his past and the world he’s still involved in. But you remind him that he’s doing his best, and the love he has for both you and his daughter is more than enough to prove he’s a great dad.
Dazai has a hidden soft spot for his family (obviously). You often catch him staring at both of you with a soft, almost melancholic smile, as if he can’t believe he’s found something so pure and worth protecting.

Do not copy, steal, modify, etc. Relogs and like are appreciated.

So…I supposed it’s fair to say you’re an outstanding author and so I’d like to ask for some advice! I wanna get into writing for fun in my free time but whenever I write I just kinda make it up as I go…and I’d like to know how you go about planning how a story goes? And how you lay it out and such. It would really help! Ps THANK YOU FOR TWO CHAPTERS IN A DAY YOU’VE BLESSED US 🫶🫶🫶
HEY! First of all thank you so much for being kind, and I'm thrilled on your behalf for writing for fun! That's how it should be!
So I just want to start of by saying there is no wrong or right way to write, the act of writing is learning, we gain new knowledge as we go, and any form of it is building resilience.
Making it up as you go is a valid and powerful method called discovery writing, I've done it too before, but I find for me I need a lot more structure, well personally I tend to make it up as I go for one-shots since they're short formed and don't require as much structure. In the sense that I can complete Freytag's triangle easily since everything would happen in one small story.
When I start planning a story I begin by asking what I want to accomplish with the story, and what I want the tone to be. I write out the characters I know will be in the story, I try to read up and write everything I know about them and then once I have that in mind and written down on a doc I can begin to outline my story.
I often keep a loose three-act structure in mind, but never let it box me in. The first act sets everything up who they are, what they want, and what’s missing. The second act brings tension, conflict, secrets, or obstacles. The third act is the shift: a choice, a change, a moment of clarity that echoes everything they’ve been through. Even if I deviate, that structure is a comfort. It reminds me what kind of journey I’m walking the reader through.
But above all, character drives everything. Before I even touch plot, I ask What does this character want? What are they afraid of? What do they believe about themselves, rightly or wrongly? A well-built character will naturally create story through their actions, reactions, and contradictions. That’s where real plot comes from people, not just events. (this is just my biased opinion)
From there, I usually write a “zero draft.” Not a first draft just chaos. No pressure to be pretty, coherent, or even readable. It’s where I let myself play and explore, knowing I’ll shape it later. (not always but sometimes) Alongside that, I open up a little ramble document where I talk to myself “Okay, what happens next? What’s her deal? Why would he react like that?”
Being your own co-writer your own curious narrator helps you break through blocks without feeling like you’re failing.
And honestly, the best thing I’ve learned is to be flexible. A plan isn’t a prison. If I fall in love with a different ending halfway through, I let myself follow it. If a character surprises me, I let them. Changing your mind isn’t giving up it’s discovering what the story really wants to be.
But I know what really helps is to learn rhetoric, and rhetorical appeals. It's not required at all but it does help, I'm sure you've already learned it in school before but it doesn't hurt to watch a short video on it.
If it helps, here's a mini template I use sometimes when planning chapters
Chapter X
Purpose: (What is this chapter doing? Revealing something? Deepening a relationship?)
Setting: (Where are we? Where will we go?)
Mood/Theme: (Soft? Tense? Bitter? Bittersweet?)
What changes: (By the end, what’s different?)
Key moments: (Write them out as bullet points.)
Sorry this was super long but my writing process mainly goes like that but of course I'm never confined by it, so I always can just go as I want but I make sure I write down what I changed and how I deviated from my original plan.

do you have any tips for writing in-character fanfiction?
Writing Notes: In-Character Fanfiction
Fan Fiction - a type of writing that responds to something else like a book, a TV show or a film.
People write fan fiction typically because they are big fans of their chosen story, and want to create more of it.
They might imagine what happened before or after the story's main events or imagine other scenes in the lives of their favourite characters.
Fan fiction is a great way to get started with writing, because a lot of the work has been done for you. Characters, settings and plots are already there to be customised, changed and adapted. The possibilities are endless.
Fan fiction usually falls into 2 big categories: in-universe and alternate universe (AU).
In-universe fan fiction takes place in the same general setting and plot line as the original story. It could be, for example, a prequel or a story that follows characters that aren’t focused on as much in the main plot.
Alternate universe fan fiction explores different settings or plot lines for characters within a fandom. This can be anything from a fanfic where a character who dies in the original story lives or an alternate setting where all of the characters work at a coffee shop. AU fanfics are great for if you want more control over your storyline or want to explore an entirely different setting with characters you already love.
Writing Tips for In-Character Fanfiction
Know the Canon. In fan fiction, the original story, characters and world you are responding to is called the canon.
Know the story you're responding to.
Read it a few times and make sure you have the detail straight.
Make your story make sense for the existing story world.
If the protagonist can't swim in the original story, don't start yours with them doing the front crawl across the British Channel unless you can explain when and where they learnt the skill (and how it's relevant).
If characters act out-of-character, or the world has changed in your version, make sure there's a good reason for it.
Consider the Past. You aren’t inventing new characters, and you can’t change the lives they’ve already lived unless you’re writing a prequel. So, you must be familiar with the lives your characters have already led and can work their lived experiences into your story. It can be helpful to ask someone who is also a fan of the series you’re pulling characters from to read your work before you publish, as they’ll be able to let you know whether you’re on the right track when it comes to sticking to the story’s canon.
Consider a New Approach. While it can be fun to dig into the lives of everyone’s favorite characters, fanfiction can take an exciting turn when the writer provides context for the behaviors of a not-so-beloved character. For example, describing a character’s difficult home life can help readers understand why they act in an undesired way in the original story. This doesn’t just help readers engage with the material you create – it can also help them to see their favorite stories and characters in a new way.
Ask "what if"? Fanfiction is, by its very nature, speculative, which means that every piece of fanfiction starts with this very simple question: What if?
What if this happened?
What if this didn’t happen?
What if this character and this character got together?
What if everything changed?
What if we knew what happened next?
Ask yourself “what if” questions about your chosen media, and follow the most interesting answer.
Once you’ve picked your favorite simple version of the question, start asking questions again.
Think about how the answer to that “what if” affects the rest of the story - do the characters change? Their relationships? The setting?
This will help you build out your plot more effectively.
Identify the Gap. Many fanfiction writers choose to focus on aspects of the story that were left unexplored in the original work. Look for gaps in the plot or characters of the story that you can use as a jumping-off point for your own story. Typically the concept for a fanfiction will be some gap you see in the source material’s story—or just something you’d have rather happened.
Revise, Revise, Revise. When you write an excellent fanfiction story, it can be tempting to publish it immediately, especially if you have an eager audience to read your work. However, taking the time to revise is critical. After you finish your work, take a day away, and then come back and reread it. Don’t just keep an eye out for spelling and grammar mistakes. You’ll also want to ensure that you don’t have plot holes, facts that go against canon, or characters acting in a way that won’t make sense to your readers.
Get a Beta Reader. Fan fiction writers often work with other fans called beta readers, who read their work before they post it online and edit it or suggest changes or improvements.
Reading your own work aloud to yourself or others is a good idea; alternatively, ask a friend to read it through for inconsistencies or points that need clarification.
Doing either (or both!) of these will help make your writing the best it can be before you post it on a fan site.
Out of Character: Make sure you keep true to the personalities of the cast. Even if something about the starring character is being changed, it should be changed accordingly. Also, even if the canon characters never do anything to contradict their personalities, if they never do anything distinctive to their personalities, that's generally a bad sign since it makes them seem too generic.
Interact with Your Readers. You’re going to get plenty of comments when you publish a fanfiction story that becomes popular. Interacting with your readers is key to keeping them coming back for more. Engage in conversation, ask them questions about what they’d like to see next, and remember – your readers are there because they love the characters just as much as you do.
"Original Flavour" - a Fanfic that attempts to emulate the tone, atmosphere and style of its inspiration as closely as possible.
The goal of the Original Flavour fic is to seem as though the original production team could have thought it up.
Even if it heads off into previously unknown and unexplored territory for that property, the story will emphasize the use of existing gimmicks and devices rather than introducing totally foreign ones.
If you are writing an Original Flavour fic, you (usually) don't introduce or kill core characters, revise continuity, or do anything that is non-canon beyond the events of your story.
To an extent, it is possible to pull these off and still maintain this trope, but only if it's in a way that the canon itself could have evolved (as opposed to anything drastic). Original Flavor is exactly like writing a spec script you could submit to the showrunner, but not necessarily in script form.
Examples for inspiration:
Alice Through the Needle's Eye is a Fan Sequel to Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland that perfectly mimics Carroll's style.
Peter Pan and the Only Children is a Fan Sequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, that perfectly mimics Barrie's style.
Zootopia: A Tail of Two has been regarded as having the definite feel of the original Zootopia movie.

Writing Clichés to Avoid (And How to Twist Them on Their Heads)
Let’s face it: tropes aren’t the enemy—but clichés? They’re tropes that have been left out in the sun too long and have gone stale. Here’s a lovingly curated list of tired writing clichés that could use a break… or at least a refresh. Use them with care—or better yet, subvert them.
Disclaimer: This post is based on my personal taste and observations as a writer and reader. If any of these tropes speak to you or bring you joy—please, write them! Clichés become clichés for a reason: they resonate. The point isn’t to avoid them entirely, but to write them with intention, care, and depth. Don’t let a list discourage you from telling the story that’s in your heart.
1. The “Waking Up” Opening
Your character jolts awake, hits the alarm clock, and stares in the mirror describing their face? We’ve all read it. Instead: start with movement, a moment of tension, or a choice being made. Readers will learn what your character looks like organically.
2. “She let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.”
The breath. The betrayal. The overuse. Instead: describe physical tension with more specific detail—tight shoulders, a tremble, the pulse in her throat. Let the reader feel the release without the stock phrase.
3. Love at First Sight (Without Any Development)
Attraction is one thing. A soul-shaking, undying love because someone has good cheekbones? Give us more! Build tension, banter, shared secrets, something.
4. The “Chosen One” with No Personality
He’s destined, powerful, and… kind of a blank slate. Give your chosen ones flaws, fears, and dreams. Make their choices matter more than their prophecy.
5. Evil for Evil’s Sake
The cackling villain who just loves being bad is fun, but one-note. Flesh them out. Give them motives, morals, a twisted sense of justice. The best villains think they’re the hero.
6. The “Not Like Other Girls” Girl
She’s not like the others—because she reads books and doesn’t wear makeup? Let’s raise the bar. Individuality should be about who they are, not dismissing other women.
7. Dying Mentor Syndrome
Beloved mentor trains the hero… then dies conveniently to cause angst and move the plot. You can still kill them, sure—but think about the when, the why, and the impact.
8. Coincidence Saves the Day
A last-minute deus ex machina or lucky break can feel cheap. Victory tastes better when it’s earned—through flaws, strategy, and sacrifice.
9. Describing Eyes Like Oceans/Jewels/Stars
We’re not banning poetic metaphors, but let’s get specific. What do their eyes do? Dart, narrow, glint with mischief? Movement often tells us more than a gemstone ever could.
10. The Abusive Parent Backstory
A staggering number of protagonists have cruel, neglectful, or conveniently dead parents. Trauma is valid, but when every character’s motivation is “I was unloved,” it starts to feel like a shortcut. Instead: explore more nuanced family dynamics. Disappointment, misunderstanding, cultural clashes—those hit harder because they’re more human.
11. The Evil Ex
They’re manipulative, jealous, and exist solely to make the new love interest look better. This villainization flattens complex relationships into cartoonish drama. A better approach? Exes who were incompatible, not evil. Maybe they still talk. Maybe they ended on weird terms. That’s more interesting.
12. Super-Special Skill with No Training
I’m looking at you Rey Skywalker. They picked up a sword yesterday and now they’re beating knights in duels. Nope. Skill takes effort. Show the struggle, the soreness, the early failures. That’s where readers connect.
13. “I Look Down and Realize I’m Bleeding.”
This line gets used in every fight scene, every explosion. It’s become a dramatic reflex. Try a slower realization—weak knees, stained fingers, the distant ringing in their ears. There are other ways to show shock and delayed pain.
14. The Girl Who Doesn’t Know She’s Beautiful
Usually described as stunning by others, but insists she’s plain. Often while men fall at her feet. Let characters have confidence! Or, if they’re insecure, show it in believable ways. Not just over flawless skin and thick lashes.
15. The Grizzled Veteran with a Tragic Past™
He’s seen things. He drinks. He doesn’t talk about it. He’s emotionally unavailable… until he dies heroically. This archetype can work, but don’t let the trauma be his only trait. What makes him laugh? What does he cook? What’s his embarrassing hobby?
16. They’re Poor… But Own an Apartment in the City
Money is real. Rent is real. Struggle is real. If your character is broke, reflect that. Maybe they house-share. Maybe they live with family. Show it in their clothes, their job choices, their fridge.
17. Magical Powers with No Cost
If magic exists, there needs to be a price. Whether it’s energy, reputation, morality, or something darker, tension comes from consequences. Without them, power becomes too easy—and too boring.
18. No Female Friendships
Too many female characters exist in a vacuum of men, rivals, or love interests. Where are her friends? Her study buddy, her work wife, her sister figure? Women need women in fiction as much as in life.
19. The One Token Quirky Trait
He’s a genius but wears mismatched socks. She’s an assassin… who collects rubber ducks. Quirks are great—but don’t mistake them for personality. Let the odd details grow from their story, not just get tacked on like accessories.
20. The Quirky Best Friend™ (On the topic of quirks and lady friends)
They’re loud, chaotic, have no internal life of their own, and exist only to drag the protagonist out of their shell. Often red-haired. Often comic relief. While there’s nothing wrong with a bold, extroverted friend, real people have depth. What scares her? What does she regret? Don’t let her orbit the main character—let her live.
21. The Male Love Interest Who’s Rude But Hot
Grumpy/sunshine can be fun, it’s literally one of my favourite tropes, but not when “grumpy” just means “emotionally abusive.” Snapping at waiters, being cruel for no reason, or playing mind games isn’t charming—it’s concerning. Redeem this archetype by giving him emotional maturity, not just abs and trauma.
Some clichés can be used well—but only if they’re aware of themselves. If you recognize the trope, ask: what would this look like if it happened to a real, flawed, complicated person? That’s where tired becomes timeless.

Okay I've seen enough AI discourse discussion today but there's one thing I absolutely have not seen anyone else talking about and I simply need to get my 2 cents in here
Writing is not about the end product. And no, I'm not going to say some philosophical nonsense about the passion or heart or humanity put into it, I'm sure most of you are already aware of the philosophical difference between AI and real writers. What I'm talking about is what, about storytelling and writing, makes a writer a writer.
If, theoretically, being a writer was JUST about conveying an idea, plot, or set of themes to the reader, AI wouldn't be that big of a deal. Because it truly would be just about the quickest way to get your idea into someone elses' head. But it's not that.
It's not that at all.
When I was 14 my father (a screenwriter) told me that his favourite part of writing was editing, and that, if I continued to be a writer, one day I'd probably feel the same way.
The amateur is enamoured with the creative process - the writer is enamoured with the craft.
Writing doesn't stop when the words are on the page.
My father was right.
Nowadays, a first draft is a tedious first step I need to climb the mountain of to get on with things. And, of course, I love this step! It's the creative heart of being a storyteller, playing with characters, exploring themes. And, yes, most of my fanfiction is a first draft, but thats because fanfiction is a different kind of craft to me. Also not something AI can replicate but that's a different story and not what this is about.
I've never let anyone read my first draft of original work. Ever. Because I hate my first drafts. I finish it, and immediately start thinking: "i need more scenes that make the twist villain sympathetic early on to increase the impact of the reveal" or "i should make sure that the main character is shown reaching for chocolate flavoured treats more often to tighten the character persona" or "i think the middle is too short, there's not enough time to build drama."
I start crafting the story. Picking apart how I want my readers to feel, adjusting minute details - or massive, large details - and playing with the rhythm of the story. Maybe a villain gets redeemed instead of killing them, maybe I switch up the order that characters meet in to change their dynamics, maybe I change their names to have greater symbolism and more cohesive identities. Editing is a difficult skill, but the process of getting my hands on each paragraph is intoxicating. Of being able to turn this story into the best version of itself.
I spent 4 minutes on one line, yesterday, changing the word "terrible" to "horrible," removing a comma and switching up the word choice in the dialogue. I played and I fiddled and I made sure that this one sentence had the exact right melody to it, the exact right feeling to it to make sure that my reader could feel it like goddamn music in their bones, the precise reading experience that I, the writer, wanted them to have. These 4 minutes are the most fun I ever have writing. These moments are my favourite part of being a writer, they're what makes me a writer. Not simply that I have put words on a page, but that I have put these words on a page, exactly as I want them.
So AI art is not art. Because art is not the end product. People who use AI to write are not writers, because writers are not merely idea generators. If you're satisfied using AI to generate your ideas, go ahead, but you were never a writer to begin with. I don't want my work to exist on the page if I don't get to enjoy the craft. If I don't get to sit and play with my words, adjust character details into oblivion, stare at the screen until the words are music, then I simply don't want it. If everything in the world becomes AI generated, I will still be sitting at my desk with my computer glowing and keyboard clicking away, writing stories, because that is what I love to do. The act of it, the physical act, not the end product.
"I'm just using AI to bring my ideas to life, I can edit and adjust it afterwards if I want!"
You've already missed the point.
I'll just be over here wasting hours upon hours deciding on the name of a fake city, because it is the most fun I could ever have.
#ai art is simply not art for a myriad of reasons but mostly because artists dont actually want a way to stop doing the thing they love#however please do not read this and think I'm implying if you ever get bored with writing youre not a real writer. obv its more nuanced#this is more about how it feels in my soul not always how it feels in my brain#also i think this also answers the “kings how do you post 3-4 chapters a week” question yeah?#the answer is because writing is my happy place and that is that. its the only thing I ever want to do

I never thought a girl like you would even look at me, let alone end up being my girlfriend. I’m not exactly the guy people notice in the hallways—I’m the nerd, not the bullied, shoving-in-lockers kind—thank god—but the kind who mostly flies under the radar. I’ve got my little circle of fellow dorks: Niall, Liam, Louis…and Zayn, who somehow manages to look like a cool guy while still geeking out over obscure sci-fi movies.
Zayn’s the reason we met. You two were already friends—not super close, but enough for you to crash our movie night one time because your plans got canceled and Zayn didn’t want you to be bored. You were the kind of pretty that didn’t feel real, the kind that made me sit up straighter and immediately forget how to speak like a functioning human. You laughed at our dumb jokes, you understood our references.
And now, somehow, six months later, you’re mine. We’ve been together half a year and I still haven’t wrapped my head around it. You’re the first girl I’ve kissed, the first girl I’ve made out with, my first everything, honestly and you’ve been gentle and sweet and so wildly fun with every one of those firsts.
You're not the most popular girl at school, but you're up there—always surrounded by people, always smiling, always being kind. Everyone likes you and yet, somehow, you like me. And every time you say my name or press your face into my chest like it’s your favorite pillow or laugh at my stupid jokes like they’re brilliant, I feel like I’ve won a game I didn’t even know I was playing.

baby fever during your period

I was never the guy anyone expected to end up with someone like you. Hell, I didn’t expect it.
I’m the nerd of our school. The straight-A student, the teacher’s favorite, the one who never skips class, never breaks rules and gets called on to explain the topic when no one else is listening. I always sit in the front row, I color-code my notes, I genuinely enjoy reading academic articles and arguing about ethics in sci-fi films. I’m a feminist, I’m respectful, I’m responsible, I’m the one people roll their eyes at in the hallway but ask for help when exam week hits.
I never cared what people thought, I knew I’d be the one with the career, with the future. While they were busy laughing at me, I was building something—with my brain, my time and my close-knit group of equally nerdy best friends—Louis, Liam, Niall and Zayn, we’ve been a team since we were kids. Late-night video games, movie marathons, trivia nights, heated debates about comic book plot holes — they’re my people.
And then…you happened.
They changed the seating chart in class one day and suddenly you were next to me. You—the girl everyone knew, not the mean, untouchable kind of popular, you’re just…warm, effortless, beautiful in a way that feels unfair, but kind in a way that makes it impossible to hate you for it. You made everyone feel seen—even me.
You started asking for help during lessons, little questions, flirty comments. At first, I thought it was just friendly, but then you stayed after class, started sitting with me during breaks, touching my arm when you laughed, looking at me like you actually saw me. Somehow, you cracked through all the walls I didn’t even realize I’d built.
You became my first everything. My first girlfriend, my first kiss, the first person I’ve ever made out with and the first person who ever ran their hands under my shirt and didn’t make me feel weird for shivering. We tried things—foreplay, slow exploration, soft touches that turned heated and then gentle again.
And today, I lost my virginity and I gave it to you and I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.

my chaotic personal method for writing fun fictional stories
D&D style development for the characters, writing them down and letting them make their own choices for believable character motive and a chaos element.
World building should be fun and rough around the edges. Only explain the necessary bits. Never info dump.
Plot and story ideas written down and expanded until they connect plot points like a mad mind map that connects to one another in a 100 different ways
A running theme to connect your novels and stories. This helps keep the readers interest so they feel drawn to the next book like it’s a puzzle piece or clue
Different tropes & themes for all stories with a good mix of tragedy, romance, suspense, fun, humor, and adventure. Don’t let it get boring and stale! Keep moving through time, space, and human emotion.
No idea what to do next? Roll a die and let the character decide how to respond. 🎲
Plot holes? My favorite sweater has them and your book should to! Answer all questions later in the series, but leave a few to the readers imagination. Some things should be explored and discussed independently. What would they do? Is that really how that character would behave? Let them draw their own conclusions.
Don’t let your audience have all the juicy details in the first book. Make them question your delicately crafted reality and give them something to remind them.
Like every time they hear “biscuits and gravy” they think of your character Elizabeth that runs the inn and always has spectacular biscuits and gravy. Some biscuits and gravy are worth killing over. Real world meets fictional universe and gives the reader something to grasp.
Over all, remember, you’re creating something fun, and it should be fun to create.
Give readers something (or someone) to believe in. Then, break their hearts if you must.

🎬 TUNED IN: A Sims Legacy Challenge 🎬
“Your life is the drama. Are you watching... or are you starring?”
Welcome to Tuned In, a Sims legacy challenge inspired by the most iconic characters and chaotic storylines across the streaming universe—straight from your favorite binge-worthy shows. Whether it’s the small-town secrets of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the intense emergencies of 9-1-1, the heartbreaks of Adults, or the addictive thrillers like YOU and Ginny & Georgia, this challenge lets you bring those big-screen narratives straight into your gameplay.
This isn’t your average generation challenge. Tuned In is a series of dramatic, emotional, sometimes messy—but always fun—chapters that explore the many sides of life, love, ambition, identity, betrayal, and redemption. It’s a sandbox for every kind of story, from the rise of a single teen mom with a dangerous secret, to generations shaped by fame, loss, forbidden love, or even supernatural twists. Each generation is a self-contained “season,” with its own theme, character arc, and rules—but they all tie back to the same legacy: yours.
Start from nothing and build your legacy from the ground up—house by house, love by love, world by world. Whether you play with mods or keep it vanilla, every generation gives you a new lead role and a new set of challenges. Reinvent yourself, survive scandal, chase dreams, destroy enemies—or marry them.
Expect:
Messy love triangles
Crimes of passion
Rags-to-riches drama
Mysterious pasts
And wild plot twists you control
Because in Tuned In, you’re not just building a family. You’re directing a series.
Are you ready for your close-up?
🎬 TUNED IN: A Sims Legacy Challenge 🎬
🔪 Generation One: “The Housewife”
Inspired by: Ginny & Georgia
You didn’t grow up with much—certainly not love. A troubled childhood, neglectful parents, and a string of tragedies shaped you far too young. Then, just as you were beginning to dream of something more, you discovered you were pregnant by your high school sweetheart.
That moment changed everything.
You swore you'd never be like them. You'd give your child the life you never had—no matter what it takes. Lie, steal, manipulate... even kill, if you must. Because nothing matters more than protecting your child and building a future.
Still, something inside you aches. You chase happiness, but it always seems just out of reach. Love becomes your escape. Every time someone new captures your heart, you become someone else: the perfect partner, the flawless homemaker, desperate to leave the past behind.
But the past has a way of catching up.
With every move, every new beginning, the consequences of your choices follow. You keep running, chasing the dream of a perfect town, a perfect marriage, a perfect life.
But what happens when the fantasy falls apart—again? What happens when you’re forced to stop running?

More thoughts on Kpop Demon Hunters Under the thread but you know, spoilers so click with caution
Love the story itself, great concept and honestly strong execution on almost all levels.
The unique things Sony Animation keeps pushing with each of their movies is really great imo. Every movie from their animation division has done something unique with the 3D style and I love that!
The storyboarding and camera angles in this one is fire - there were so many shots that I had to make note of looking up later/hoping they show how they mapped that out.
Storywise, I like a lot of what they mapped out for what could clearly be a series of either movies or an entire season of a show. Yes, a lot of plots holes are left with that final ending sooo idk I am curious to hear from the director and writers about that. Seems a lot had to be done in a short amount of time BUT also I can't complain too much idk what to say the industry amiright.
Love the concept of rebuilding a Honmoon that's based in what the new Hunters believe in.
TBH some part of me is like 'that could have been a potentially interesting thing to explore as part of KPop idols required to live such certain lives/expectations/never shows flaws and these particular fictional KPop stars choose to literally rebuild the system they were brought into/allow Rumi and themselves to live as themselves. Idk I think it would track better with Golden! But I am also not a story writer so obviously a lot of things would have to be retooled for that.
Things I would love to see explored if they get a sequel/series
Rumi's past ofc - who is her dad/what went down with her mom and him and their group of hunters. Where is the other one?? If there's three and one died and one was left to raise her child...idk a lot to explore there.
Ditto how did Celine build Huntrix - do they just hold auditions until they find the right 'match'. I'm assuming less with voices and more with personal struggles - and maybe that's lost a bit with Cyrene anyways since she clearly bought into the older way of doing things.
Also on the subject of Celine - until we're told otherwise I'm going to assume she knew being on one side of the Honmoon meant you were fine bc that is a HELL of a gamble to take with your surrogate kid and knowing they're half demon. Like what if they sealed the Honmoon as 'golden' and Rumi was sent to the demon realm? Again it seems like that's a non-issue movie-wise.
Mira's family!!! We're told she was a problem child and a black sheep so if we get a sequel idk...Mira's brother potentially showing up?? Wanting to connect with a sister who he was never close with but sees her face everywhere?
Likewise - what is Zoey's family backstory, since it's clear in Golden she was a child of divorce - though something that I didn't see until a rewatch is that she's holding a Sunlight Sisters Record!
The tree?? with Celine?? We see it in Rumi's part of Golden and she has her emotional moment with Celine there so is something tied to that other than the grave?
Hope any sequels expand on Rumi's Demon power and yes in a fun way. If she can transport by smoke you KNOW Mira and Zoey are asking her to transport them short distances that are just a stupid abuse of powers. Rumi's like 'idk even know this works I don't want to hurt you guys' and they're like 'yeah we know let's just try it :)'
Rumi starts having this crisis of faith while fighting the demons and what they really are motivated by after she speaks with Jinu but also they are stealing people's souls so you know - maybe some kind of resolution on what happens to folks once they're down there (I'm 99% they just died?? so maybe coping with that in some way in a sequel)
Finally would love to see if they have Bobby either a) brought in on the demon thing and he just rolls with it or b) he thinks it's a new gimmick or c) DOES acknowledge that this is a Thing but also knows acknowledging it is WILD so he's just like 'Gonna ignore this and stay in my lane and do my job' while also knowing the trio is off fighting demons any time they're not on stage. Ngl when it seemed like Bobby was taken I was like 'YES' bc I love the dynamic of bff of some superhero trio needing them but often overlooked so like idk Netflix if you want a writer for a series please!! accept these notes but don't hire me Idk what the fuck I'm doing.
Idk more of the trio doing stupid things together but this movie showed the fun bits of them carbo loading and spa days so I would love more of that with them!!
#okay these are like everything I can remember at this moment after two glasses of cider so#kpop demon hunters#kpop demon hunters spoilers#would love an artbook Netflix!!! please please please PLEASE#Do you need someone to project manage I offer my services

Mahabharata Writing Prompts
Type 1 – Character POVs
Sure, exploring the epic from the POVs of our beloved main characters is fun, but have considered going a bit off the beaten track? Here’s a set of prompts that are just the right amount of weird.
Timeframe: “The Creation of Indraprastha”
Character: “Draupadi’s attendant”
Is she wary? Is she happy? Or sad to have left Panchal and in the middle of another move so soon? How does she handle Draupadi’s husband schedule? Is she effectively the only witness here that sees Draupadi grow up from a pampered princess to a responsible queen and further on? Does she like Subhadra? What does she do after Dyuta Sabha, stay with Draupadi or go with her children? Is she comfortable with Draupadi and Krishna’s friendship? Or is she close enough to understand it?
2. Timeframe: “Aftermath of the Dyuta Sabha running up to the beginning of Kurukshetra”
Character: “Random Guard in Indraprastha”
The previous Good King and the entire royal family have seemingly vanished into thin air. The new Bad King doesn’t really care about this place, he only wanted to take it away from the Good King. Does he quit? Does he begrudgingly stay on in a kingdom that is just floating leaderless in free space? What happens when the war comes? Does he run away to join the old Kings, or does he stay on and fight with his comrades, doesn’t matter which side? What about his family?
3. Timeframe: “Kurukshetra”
Character: “A member of the Narayani Sena”
Is he a friend of Krishna’s from Vrindavan? If so, what does he feel about being farmed out to Duryodhana? What happens when on the battlefield he sees Krishna on the other side? What if Krishna’s getting hurt, and he is being egged on to join in on the fun? Is Krishna then aggressively mouthing ‘Do. Your. Job!’ to him in response to his hesitation? Does he still have trouble reconciling the ‘makhan-chora’ to the ‘yogeshwara’?
Type 2 – Time Travel
We all have that one bookmarked fic, with that lovely little cross-yuga romance, right? What if it was a little more?
This one pretty much has two solid directions:
1. Person A is recruited by an agency to go take an interview of one of our main characters (Arjuna?/Krishna?/Draupadi?/Karna?/Duryodhana?). However, plot twist: they are simply plopped onto the ground with no explanation or back story. How do they claw their way to the proximity of these royal characters without exposing themselves? What is the cover they build for themselves? How does their gender or general Kali-yuga upbringing affect their journey?
2. One of the main characters somehow get transported to the modern world. What happens then? Are they physically transported here? Is it a body-swap situation? In this case, what is the body-swapped Kali-yuga person faring in the past (in a pretty complicated political situation that too!)? How fast do they adjust to the other world? What kind of relationships do they form? Do they run into re- or pre- incarnations of friends and family? Do wires get crossed in that case? How complicated can it be? How, for example, would they deal with something like Covid?
Type 3 – Turn Left (courtesy Doctor Who, ifykyk)
Mostly, what-if scenarios, nice for a thought exercise; can be damned interesting to explore. Let’s start with the most obvious questions first:
1. What if Bheeshma had never agreed to Dasa-raja’s conditions and married someone?
2. What if Draupadi was only married to Arjuna?
3. What if Krishna took Radha with him to Mathura?
Then some of the wackier ones, imo:
1. Bheeshma’s Vasu-wife, the one he initially got cursed for, hanging around Bheeshma all through his life, even if she doesn’t get a ‘married life’ with him. Would she choose to be reborn as a human, or remain around him as an invisible goddess? Would she remain neutral, or would her presence mess with our story?
2. What if the Pandavas grew up, in Vrindavan, with Krishna and Balarama, dodging both Kamsa and Duryodhana (or would he even be interested in this scenario)?
3. What if, when Krishna offered, Duryodhana actually chose Krishna instead of the Narayani Sena? If so, would he help the Kauravas as much as he did the Pandavas, or would he quietly sabotage all their efforts? Would he sabotage them smiling all the time, or would he become a world-class bummer to be around? Would Duryodhana in this case just throw him in a prison and forget about it? Would the Pandavas in that case take it lying down? Does his presence so close to Duryodhana keep Karna perpetually teering over the edge of a mental breakdown, vis-à-vis his birth situation and Krishna’s overall unhelpfulness?
If you like these, feel free to let me know...and I'll work on more.
If you do end up using any of these (either completely or partially), all I ask that you send me a link to it, because I would love nothing more than to read it! ❤️❤️❤️

initial thoughts after beating okamiden for the first time (spoilers ahoy):
everything was worth it for chibiterasu existing
the game had a bad habit of not letting me figure out on my own what brush power to use and then use it. particularly with rejuvination. there were multiple times i tried over and over what i was sure was the solution and kept failing, only to find out that i'd needed to examine the puzzle so the game would zoom in and finally let me do the thing i'd been trying to do.
this game is adorable
i love Sidequest Village™️ (yakushi)
i like susano and kushi getting to be happily married
movement in battle felt very clunky. the camera kept turning away from where i wanted to see, enemies would get flung across the arena so i'd have to run over to keep hitting them, and i was constantly getting hit because i couldn't cancel a combo to dodge
adopted👏sons👏are👏true👏sons👏pog
exploration didnt feel as nice. i don't know if it was the camera being too close or something else, but running around the overworld wasn't as enjoyable in this game. i do still love the overworlds tho; it just made hunting down every chest and dandelion a bit more tedious
everything was worth it for the baby gods
i like the thunder people
i don't like taking the shiranui persona old kamiki assigned ammy and making that a real, separate entity. that was just past ammy. chibi's mom, not chibi's grandpa
i know it's nitpicky, but kamiki 100 years ago never found out about shiranui being amaterasu
everything was worth it for the wedding sidequest
whyyy were unique collectibles in areas you can't return to. like the boat. or that one part of the ice cave. nightmare
i ended the game missing one piece of the last masterpiece set 😭. i completed the other four sets. just one piece missing. where is it
kurow should not have gotten that date. ma'am that is a child, i don't care if he saved your life. this is not cute okamiden writers.
i really loved the creative use of time travel. characters we don't know recognizing us and saying they're glad to see us, then later on the time travel comes in and that dynamic plays out in reverse. fun
i liked how they made the tragedy of the sunken ship personal. we know it's going to sink. we've talked to the single survivor, we've talked to the orphaned child. but we're months in the past and these sailors don't know.
again, nitpicky, but it did bug me that otohime transformed into a water dragon without the dragon orb. even with the excuse that chibi was helping. having to get the dragon orb was such a big deal in okami.
i'm gonna have to replay it to get a definitive opinion, but a lot of the latter third of the plot kept feeling clunky.
this game was so rude and fatphobic to manpuku. it was nice that his mom was uplifting to him in the end but that wasn't enough to make up for everything else
besides his mom, susano was the only one to be straightforwardly celebratory of him. (paraphrasing, but roughly "you're the perfect build for fighting! let me train you.") another win for susano
MANPUKU BREAKING THROUGH THE CRACK KUROW SEALED BC HE'D PROMISED TO COME IF WE CALLED FOR HIM!!! TRAVELING THROUGH TIME AND SPACE TO KEEP HIS PROMISE! BELOVED BOY!
akuro kuni looked very cool. his throne looked VERY cool
a lot of the visuals for that whole final sequence were fantastic
game got an audible outraged gasp out of me when akuro called me mutt with kuni's mouth. how dare he
EVERYTHING WAS WORTH IT FOR SHADOW CHIBI
SHADOW CHIBI DRAWING A SHADOW SUN WAS SO INCREDIBLY COOL
conflicted feelings on how this game recharacterized waka and the moon tribe, for different reasons respectively. another thing i'm gonna have to replay the game to decide my opinion on
🎉 EVERYTHING WAS WORTH IT TO GET TO PLAY AS SHADOW CHIBI IN NEW GAME PLUS
overall: glad it's not canon, but also very glad it exists. okamiden good.
#long post#okami#okamiden#okamiden spoilers#i took a few months' break from the game. so everything before the timetravel to 100 years ago is less fresh in my mind#a moment of silence for all the okamiden fans who've been waiting for years to get a sequel that isn't going to come#tis truly unfortunate that the game ended on such a clear sequel hook#idk maybe if okami 2 sells well enough we can argue for a whole spin-off series in the okamiden timeline

the batfamily play minecraft
alfred: i don’t believe he can physically interact with computers
barbara: there’s always one person in the group who can do redstone and here it’s her. builds all the farms everyone loves having at the beginning of the game like the ender ender and a villager trading hall. as usual everyone would fucking die without her. servers she doesn’t join never really get off the ground for the most part because everyone is so used to having her farms on hand and gets lazy to play without them. would probably really enjoy elaborate progression mods like feed the beast
bruce: doesn’t get it. “what are you supposed to do?” “just whatever i want? that sounds silly.” if he gave it a chance i think it could be great for his mental health. i mean mining is basically meditation let’s be real. but let’s also be real he would try it for 5 minutes 30 if his kids really did the puppy eyes and then he would wander away and get killed by a zombie
cass: hard to say, honestly. depends on from what angle the game would be presented to her. she would probably enjoy the hanging out and the cozy atmosphere but she doesn’t strike me as the type to enjoy very grindy games beyond mindless resource gathering. she’d like hopping on the batfam server while everyone else is online and dicking around but alone i think she would just wander the landscapes aimlessly without progressing the game much.
damian: he’s collecting all the animals. 2.000 dogs and no sign of stopping. at least just as many cats. has wrangled half the passive mobs into his house, which is a wooden cube with a roof. it should be ugly but mostly it’s just really charming. i think he would enjoy the foxes
dick: also doesn’t get it. i think he’d prefer story based games or just straight up board games. he would enjoy the communal aspect and if someone introduced him to hypixel or something he would like that but i can’t see him enjoying casual minecraft unless it was a story based adventure map of some kind. he might like blightfall
duke: stacked. plays the game and plays it well. he has netherite armour while everyone else is just getting iron. he just strikes me as a minecraft kid. only other person who’s halfway decent at redstone, but only uses it to make cursed contraptions that give everyone else a headache.
jason: not the most impressive builds or the best with pvp but he likes to explore and creates really elaborate beautiful storylines into all his builds and the environments he cultivates that end up dragging half of the others into the plot. the kid who built fences around villages to protect the citizens from monsters. would enjoy mods that expand the minecraft world like better end.
stephanie: would play with incredibly silly mods that are all only working together with glue and hope. finding incredibly niche categories of speedrunning to complete just for fun; she actually gets briefly famous for setting a decent world record in something and would probably have many twitch followers if she didn’t already have med school and vigilante work to manage. maybe in another life
tim: doesn’t understand the term sandbox game and refuses to learn. he logs on and starts playing achievement hunter. not necessarily in a speedrunning way, but he does play the game like it has a tasklist. perpetual dirt hut tenant. either that or his unsupervised internet access as a child has lead to minecraft youtuber trauma

Hey! I’m on the hunt for a long-term roleplay. I’m in the GMT timezone(UK/Ireland) and I have been roleplaying for years now. I write in third person past tense and my replies usually range from 2+ paragraphs. I am usually very active other than when I’m in work, but expect multiple replies per day! (I am 18+ and play both m and f roles)
I am open to non fandom roleplays( SOL/Historical plays etc). If you have any original ideas please let me know! I sometimes shy away from fantasy if the idea of too obscure so just a warning but fully open to slice of life or hearing any ideas you have! Happy to explore simply plots and world build to came then something fun for both of us! Some tropes I’d like to expand on: 🫶🏻
* Enemies to lovers
* Friends to lovers
* Arranged marriages
* Childhood sweethearts
For my fandom writers; I am happy to write canon and OC’s. I am open to any ideas you have and want to world build and plot with you! Let’s get invested in our characters and our story and post reference pics etc. I love getting engrossed in the writing.
Now for my fandom writers I write the following fandoms:
* Harry Potter (All Gens)
* Bridgerton
* Marvel/DC
* Hunger Games(including Sunrise on the Reaping)
