LUKE/ACTS S.O.A.P. ~ LUKE 10

SCRIPTURE:

The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things.  "One thing is necessary.  "Mary has chosen the better part. "It won’t be taken away from her.” ~ Luke 10:41-42

OBSERVATION:

Busyness for busyness' sake...

...allowing worries and distractions to change my focus to the activities at hand...

...and to what I'm doing and what others aren't doing... 

...or resting in His presence, listening to His word?

Which one is necessary?

Which is the better part?

Which has the longer value?

Which one elevates me and which elevates Him?

APPLICATION:

Don't be worried and distracted by many things...

Choose the better part... (it won't be taken from me...)

Know this: God's kingdom has come to me (verse 11)

PRAYER:

Gracious Heavenly Father - I ask Your forgiveness for allowing busyness and worry and distractions to get in the way of choosing the better part - Thank You that Your Kingdom has come to me - may I rejoice in Your grace in all things - In Jesus's Name, and for Your honor and glory...

Seeking to choose the better part - in Him...

If I may... this morning's S.O.A.P. had a real-life, 100%, thirty-minutes later application as the "rush" to get out on the commute caught me off guard - distracted and worried about getting into the fray of the day... sputtering at the dogs and dishes... muttering under my breath at the traffic lights... watching Siri move the arrive-by time up and down... and BOOM~! "Choose the better part and it won't be taken away..." - I still got where I needed to be, in time and with time to consider this, exhale, and breathe in the necessary, and confess/acknowledge this slip/trip forgetfulness of what I'd just read and hovered over - in other words, letting the "busy" get in the way of the choice - had been "put aside" for the rat-race and routine that so often crowds out what I've been led to see and hear...

Pausing to choose the better part... and praying for y'all on this as well...

In John 21:15: Jesus tells Peter, If you love me "Tend My Sheep" , "Feed My Sheep," "and "Follow Me." You show love for Jesus by Loving your Neighbors and following God's commandments."

But also Love God (who is Jesus) with all your heart and all your soul."

In Luke 10: Mary chose to sit at Jesu's feet and listen to him, She chose the better part.

“Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord's feet and was listening to His teaching. But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me! But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; There is need of only one thing.
