“Raindrops in the Sun’s corona”: New adaptive optics shows stunning details of our star’s atmosphere
Scientists develop new optical system that removes blur over fine-structure in the Sun’s corona, revealing clearest images to date
The Sun’s corona—the outermost layer of its atmosphere, visible only during a total solar eclipse—has long intrigued scientists due to its extreme temperatures, violent eruptions, and large prominences. However, turbulence in the Earth’s atmosphere has caused image blur and hindered observations of the corona. A ground-breaking recent development by scientists from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) National Solar Observatory (NSO), and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), is changing that by using adaptive optics to remove the blur.
As published in Nature Astronomy, this pioneering ‘coronal adaptive optics’ technology has produced the most astonishing, clearest images and videos of fine-structure in the corona to date. This development will open the door for deeper insights into the corona’s enigmatic behavior and the processes driving space weather.
Most Detailed Coronal Images to Date Revealed Funded by the NSF and installed at the 1.6-meter Goode Solar Telescope (GST), operated by NJIT’s Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR) at Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) in California, “Cona”—the adaptive optics system responsible for these new images—compensates for the blur caused by air turbulence in the Earth’s atmosphere —similar to the bumpy air passengers feel during a flight.  “The turbulence in the air severely degrades images of objects in space, like our Sun, seen through our telescopes. But we can correct for that,” says Dirk Schmidt, NSO Adaptive Optics Scientist who led the development.
Among the team’s remarkable observations is a movie of a quickly restructuring solar prominence unveiling fine, turbulent internal flows. Solar prominences are large, bright features, often appearing as arches or loops, extending outward from the Sun's surface. A second movie replays the rapid formation and collapse of a finely structured plasma stream. “These are by far the most detailed observations of this kind, showing features not previously observed, and it’s not quite clear what they are,” says Vasyl Yurchyshyn, co-author of the study and NJIT-CSTR research professor. “It is super exciting to build an instrument that shows us the Sun like never before,” Schmidt adds. A third movie shows fine strands of coronal rain—a phenomenon where cooling plasma condenses and falls back toward the Sun’s surface. “Raindrops in the Sun’s corona can be narrower than 20 kilometers,” NSO Astronomer Thomas Schad concludes from the most detailed images of coronal rain to date, “These findings offer new invaluable observational insight that is vital to test computer models of coronal processes.” Another movie shows the dramatic motion of a solar prominence being shaped by the Sun’s magnetism. A Breakthrough in Solar Adaptive Optics The corona is heated to millions of degrees–much hotter than the Sun’s surface–by mechanisms unknown to scientists. It is also home to dynamic phenomena of much cooler solar plasma that appears reddish-pink during eclipses. Scientists believe that resolving the structure and dynamics of the cooler plasma at small scales holds a key to answering the coronal heating mystery and improving our understanding of eruptions that eject plasma into space driving space weather—i.e., the conditions in Earth's near-space environment primarily influenced by the Sun's activity (e.g., solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and the solar wind) that can impact technology and systems on Earth and in space. The precision required demands large telescopes and adaptive optics systems like the one developed by this team.
The GST system Cona uses a mirror that continuously reshapes itself 2,200 times per second to counteract the image degradation caused by turbulent air. “Adaptive optics is like a pumped-up autofocus and optical image stabilization in your smartphone camera, but correcting for the errors in the atmosphere rather than the user’s shaky hands,” says BBSO Optical Engineer and Chief Observer, Nicolas Gorceix.
Since the early 2000s, adaptive optics have been used in large solar telescopes to restore images of the Sun’s surface to their full potential, enabling telescopes to reach their theoretical diffraction limits—i.e., the theoretical maximum resolution of an optical system. These systems have since revolutionized observing the Sun’s surface, but until now, have not been useful for observations in the corona; and the resolution of features beyond the solar limb stagnated at an order of 1,000 kilometers or worse—levels achieved 80 years ago.  “The new coronal adaptive optics system closes this decades-old gap and delivers images of coronal features at 63 kilometers resolution—the theoretical limit of the 1.6-meter Goode Solar Telescope,” says Thomas Rimmele, NSO Chief Technologist who built the first operational adaptive optics for the Sun’s surface, and motivated the development. Implications for the Future Coronal adaptive optics is now available at the GST. “This technological advancement is a game-changer, there is a lot to discover when you boost your resolution by a factor of 10,” Schmidt says. The team now knows how to overcome the resolution limit imposed by the Earth’s lowest region of the atmosphere—i.e., the troposphere—on observations beyond the solar limb and is working to apply the technology at the 4-meter NSF Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, built and operated by the NSO in Maui, Hawaiʻi. The world’s largest solar telescope would see even smaller details in the Sun’s atmosphere.
“This transformative technology, which is likely to be adopted at observatories world-wide, is poised to reshape ground-based solar astronomy,” says Philip R. Goode, distinguished research professor of physics at NJIT-CSTR and former director at BBSO, who co-authored the study. “With coronal adaptive optics now in operation, this marks the beginning of a new era in solar physics, promising many more discoveries in the years and decades to come.”
The paper describing this study, titled “Observations of fine coronal structures with high-order solar adaptive optics,” is now available in Nature Astronomy.

Introduction
Water is one of the most essential resources for life and industry, making efficient water management a top priority. The evolution of water metering technology has significantly improved the way water consumption is measured and monitored. Traditional mechanical meters have been in use for decades, but with advancements in technology, Digital Water Flow Meter India has emerged as a more efficient, accurate, and reliable solution. These meters offer numerous advantages, including real-time monitoring, increased durability, and minimal maintenance, making them an ideal choice for various industries and applications.
Understanding Digital Water Flow Meters
A Digital Water Flow Meter India is an advanced instrument designed to measure the volume of water flowing through a pipeline. Unlike mechanical flow meters, which rely on moving parts, digital flow meters utilize electronic sensors and advanced measurement techniques to determine the flow rate with high precision. These meters are commonly used in industrial, commercial, and residential applications where accurate water measurement is crucial for resource management and billing.
How Digital Water Flow Meters Work
Digital water flow meters function using various measurement techniques, each suited to different applications. The most commonly used types include:

Sensors placed externally on the pipe send and receive sound pulses, and the time difference in pulse travel is used to calculate the flow rate. Ultrasonic meters are highly accurate, non-invasive, and ideal for applications where direct contact with the fluid is not desired.
Electromagnetic Flow Meters: Based on Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction, these meters generate a magnetic field through which the water flows. As conductive water moves through the field, it creates a voltage proportional to its velocity, which is then converted into a flow rate reading. These meters are widely used in water treatment plants, industrial processes, and municipal water supply systems.
Turbine Flow Meters: These have a small turbine inside the pipe that spins as water flows through it. The rotation speed of the turbine is directly proportional to the flow rate, and a sensor records the number of rotations to determine the total volume of water passing through the meter. Turbine meters are commonly used in irrigation, water distribution systems, and industrial applications.
Thermal Mass Flow Meters: These meters measure the rate of heat dissipation in the fluid to calculate the flow rate. They are especially useful for measuring low flow rates in water distribution systems.

What are the most effective methods for managing power factor in your system?
`What's Power Factor?
In an energy management system, the power factor gauges the efficiency of electrical power usage. It is defined as the ratio of real power to apparent power (the total power supplied). A high power factor signifies efficient use of electrical power, which minimizes energy losses and enhances system performance.
Tumblr media
Beer is active power (kW)—the useful power, or the liquid beer, is the energy that is doing work. This is the part you want.
Foam is reactive power (kVAR)—the foam is wasted power or lost power. It’s the energy being produced that isn't doing any work, such as the production of heat or vibration.
The mug is apparent power (kVA)—the mug is the demand power, or the power being delivered by the utility.
Understanding Low Power Factor?
A low power factor is primarily caused by inductive loads, including motors, transformers, and lighting ballasts, which draw reactive power. This reactive power is essential for generating and sustaining magnetic fields but does not contribute to useful work, increasing apparent power and consequently lowering the power factor. Moreover, harmonics from nonlinear loads, such as electronic devices and variable frequency drives, further reduce the power factor by introducing additional reactive power.
Benefits of High Power Factor
A high power factor decreases the apparent power and current drawn from the source, which can lower energy bills as some utilities impose charges for low power factor or provide incentives for maintaining a high power factor. It enhances voltage regulation and stability, increases system capacity and efficiency by reducing losses and heating, and lessens the effects of harmonics, thereby improving overall power quality.Benefits of Power Factor
Tumblr media
Measuring Power Factor
Power factor is measured using a power meter or analyzer that monitors real, reactive, and apparent power, or with a power factor meter for direct readings. Measurements should be taken at various points in the system and at different times to account for load variations.
Correcting Low Power Factor
The most effective way to correct a low power factor is by installing power factor correction devices such as capacitors or synchronous condensers. These devices provide reactive power locally, reducing the flow of reactive power and improving the power factor. Depending on the load characteristics and desired power factor levels, they can be installed centrally or near specific inductive loads.
Controlling Power Factor Correction Devices
Power factor controllers, which can be either manual or automatic, are used to manage correction devices. Manual controllers rely on human adjustments based on meter readings, whereas automatic controllers use sensors and microprocessors to adjust devices. Automatic controllers can also be programmed to optimize performance under varying load conditions.
Optimizing Power Factor Management
Optimizing power factor management requires balancing cost, performance, maintenance, and safety. Essential practices include regular evaluation and adjustment, proper maintenance to prevent overloading and overheating, and compliance with utility codes and standards. This comprehensive approach ensures improved efficiency, stability, and cost-effectiveness of your electrical system.

“All the things about you that matter” - Arthur, Carnival, Joker x Reader // comfort, angst
Summary: Arthur doesn’t allow himself to experience his own pain and doesn’t allow you to enter his world. You try to reach him in his deepest thoughts so you can teach him to take care of his own feelings.
Warnings: heavy thoughts, mention of childhood trauma, crying, self-destructive coping mechanisms, mental abuse
Word count: 6574
A/N: I have this fic in my mind since October, it jumped into my mind the second after watched Joker but it took me a lot of time to write it because it was just too much for me and I wasn’t ready, but finally I write it and I cried a lot during the process. I put all of myself in this fic and I throw up all my feelings for Arthur. For a better atmosphere, I was listening to this while writing.
A/N: English is not my first language. I’ve written this fic in my native language, italian, and then I translated it in english, so I apologize for any typos or grammar errors, I’m still learning.

Gotham that night seemed darker than usual, you thought, along the way you were walking home with the only desire of falling into Arthur’s arms and staying until the day after in the only place in Gotham where you seemed to breathe: his arms.
You traveled the streets of Gotham with a swift pace, eager to his contact. You went out to work that morning and only since then have you not seen him, but even just a few hours away from him had always seemed to you much more, every part of your body quivered with his presence and it seemed to you that your body no longer had a center of gravity, so strong was the lack you felt for Arthur. Because you both were like that, you always have been. You were always insatiable to each other, the desire you had for him was so strong that you often missed him even while you were in his arms. In the moments when you were apart Arthur kept you company as if it were an invisible shadow hidden around you, It seemed so real that sometimes you might even be surprised to feel a strange pressure on your body, as if Arthur was actually caressing you from afar, and since your relationship began you felt his presence everywhere, in your heart.
There was no room in you that Arthur could not occupy.
You watched the city as you walked thinking about the love of your life. You left the building where you worked when the sunset was still coloring the city. The time of sunset was the only time in which Gotham seemed to be almost a beautiful place to live and was pleasant to look at. As you walked the city was tinged with a vivid red that reflected pink shadows between the buildings and the strangers you met, in the atmosphere was a golden color that reminded you of the same color of amber reflections in Arthur’s hair when in the morning you woke up with the sun that illuminated his still sleeping face; at that moment, as you were making your way through the streets of a city that at sunset looked totally different from the city you were used to at other times, you felt the light warmth on your skin of a sun that was going away again as if it wanted to say goodbye, see you tomorrow, to the next sunset.
You were almost near the long staircase that led you home, the sunset was getting lost along the horizon and Gotham was about to return to the dark city it used to be. You always hated that stair, especially on days when you were more tired than usual, like that day, when every step seemed to hold your feet tight in a fist and wouldn’t let you walk.
You hated it, and yet somehow you’d always found it poetic that your home was beyond such a long, endless staircase. It was as if your love nest was above a gloomy city populated by even darker people. It was as if you were above the whole world and that staircase separated you and your love from a world that had never been kind, especially with Arthur. You hated that staircase, but you loved it because every time you walked down that stair it meant you were going back to your fold where you were sure you would have found Arthur, waiting for you.
By then you had already started to walk that stair when the last lights of the sunset had totally abandoned the city and Gotham had started to be again that ghost-haunted city that had always been. It was no longer illuminated by the otherworldly colors of sunset. The buildings had started to look dark again and they looked like ghosts of a city that in the past, you were sure, hadn’t been so gloomy, and the few passersby that you met on the way home seemed empty bodies without a heart, black figures who walked every day the same roads as if they were robots who no longer had desires left in their soul. A soul that you were sure they didn’t even have. Except for your Arthur. You can feel his soul in the love you feel for him and in the way he loves you, it is so palpable that at night you feel it resting on you as if it were another blanket that wants to protect you from nightmares. Because Arthur worries about you and takes care of your every need even when he sleeps and his mind is not vigilant, he doesn’t need to be awake to know that you need him even in the nights when you are far, far away in a world made of dreams where he can’t reach you.
You were so eager to come back home and to embrace him again that as soon as the entrance door was in front of your eyes you took the keys so fast that they fell to the ground, several times, so much was the almost painful lack you had of him. On the fourth attempt, when you managed to calm yourself and dominate your body eager to see him, you inserted the keys into the lock slowly, with no little difficulties in doing so, and in a second you were finally at home.
It didn’t take you long to understand that something was going on in the air and that Arthur wasn’t well. You understood it from the way in which every window of the house was closed and the lights off, the house was illuminated only by the reflection of a moon that was now high enough in the sky and allowed you to distinguish the furnitures. You understood this from the fact that Arthur hadn’t run towards you as he did every time you came home after him, picking up the pieces of you which that workday had broken and hugging you to put them back together, one by one. Arthur assembled your broken soul every day, and every time you came home after him he ran into your lips as soon as he heard the door open, not even giving you time to put down your coat. He felt the same painful lack that you felt of him, none of you could stay away from the other and this was what you shouted at each other in your kisses and in your hugs.
And how could this not be so? You were no longer the people you were before meeting, who wandered the world in search of a destiny, in search of something that, you both were sure, had been created just for you. At the exact moment when you both met, you understood that what you knew was waiting for you was the lips of the other, the love of the other, and that the person who was in front of you was your destiny. The exact moment you met, you both stopped being two distinct bodies and you became a single soul hidden in two bodies that sometimes have to be apart: for work, for tasks, because life is just not yet used to two souls who have known how to find each other, so rarely does happen such a unique thing, and in those moments you both feel that you aren’t whole. Until one of the two of you come back home, and then you both go back to being complete with that piece that you have always missed in the time you were apart.
You threw your coat and your bag on the floor not even interested in which corner of the house they had fallen in and went in search of Arthur. You found him sitting on the couch of the living room, his eyes fixed on the TV off looking at an indefinite point on a completely black screen. That television didn’t show any programs, but you knew that what Arthur was watching on that screen were his invisible thoughts, which you knew were flowing through his mind like infectious rockets that erased every vital spark in him. His hands were closed in a fist so tight that you could clearly see the knuckles of his hand reddened and the nails entered his flesh, even if you had just crossed the threshold of the room and you were a few meters away.
Looking at him carefully you then noticed that he was wearing Carnival’s make up and took you by surprise because it was his work make up and he always took it off immediately after coming home, even if this time he hadn’t drawn any black line around the red paint on the lips, unlike the make up he usually does for work. Arthur wasn’t looking at you but he could feel the amazement in your face just by listening to your body. The one in front of you wasn’t Carnival, it was another person who belonged only to Arthur and whose name you couldn’t have said. In that moment, at least, because now you know that identity without black lines around his red smile and you love every single thing about him, just like you love Arthur and Carnival.
Seeing the love of your life in such a strong grip of pain you felt your heart slip away from you. How was it possible to love a person so much that you felt his pain? And how was it possible that at the exact moment you met him your soul had completely absorbed his, and vice versa? You ran towards him without even thinking about the movements you were doing, your body knew for itself exactly what to do and you went along with it. You sat next to him so close that your thighs touched and pressed each other, you wrapped him in your arms as hard as you can.
Arthur hadn’t moved since you got home. The pain seemed to have frozen him. He hadn’t moved his eyes to look at you, he hadn’t moved his lips to ask you how was your day and he hadn’t instinctively approached you when you sat on the couch as he normally does.
Because you are like two magnets who struggle to stay apart and get drawn to each other and every time you sit on the couch, he comes close to you and cannot resist to such a strong force. He hadn’t moved but you knew perfectly well that every part of his body and his heart was thanking you, even though he was inanimate from the outside. He would have liked to hold you tight and greet you, he would have liked to run into your arms and feel his skin burn less than when you weren’t there, because your arms were what softened the grip he was feeling to the soul, he would have liked melt into you and stay in that position for the rest of his life, but he just couldn’t.
But luckily you could hear his wishes and you welcomed him in the place where he had dreamed of coming back since that morning, when you had said goodbye to him and he had seen you walk out the front door to go to work: you welcomed him into you.
Arthur trusted you and knew that you were fully aware of his every desire, so he let your body move his own and guide him into your arms, at that moment when he didn’t have the strength to be able to approach to you by himself. He was so thin and fragile that you could easly support his torso with your arms and bring him close to you. He had remained motionless when he felt your arms around him and brought him closer to you as much as you can, he had remained motionless even when he felt your body pressing on his body, his left cheek touching the fabric of your shirt and your hands on his head to put it on your chest. In all that time in which he had allowed you to take care of him, he had remained motionless for so long that you felt the shivers of fear flowing on your back and becoming intense every second more. In that position you could feel his ribs protruding from the left side of his body pressing on your stomach and pricking you like thorns, yet that pain didn’t hurt you. Feeling his bones and his tiny body on you was the only thing that reminded you of being alive and every time he was close to you or on you, you knew that you didn’t need anything else.
Being with Arthur had never been easy, and every day you had to help him fight against himself and against that world that had never helped him to get him up when he fell to the ground. Some days were easier than others. Sometimes he managed to live with himself and in those days he seemed almost not to have any boulder on his heart, those were the days when he didn’t get sucked into his pain and he looked just… happy, with you in your daily life, even though you both knew that it wasn’t so and that in those luckiest days his pain was only dormant, ready to reveal itself at any time; sometimes even though that pain showed up he had enough strength to try to hide it, even though he had never been able to hide it from you. You would have recognized his pain everywhere: from the language of his body, from the way he breathed, from the way he moved in the world, from the look in his eyes, and from his thoughts, that you knew so well that sometimes you were surprised by it and looked like you were going into his mind and living in it, and maybe you really were. You two were the same soul, after all.
But you never saw him as grieving as he was at that very moment. That day his pain was so heavy and his thoughts so swirling that he couldn’t handle them and he got sucked by them. In other circumstances he would have tried in every way to make you worry as little as possible, pretending that he was okay, that at work no one had called him a freak and that no bunch of kids had beaten him, left him bleeding on the ground. He would have cleaned the wound himself, he would have hidden the bruises as much as he could until the last sign of pain of his body was vanished. He knew that somehow you would have understand that he wasn’t okay, but if he could make you believe for one second that he was okay, it was already a victory.
That day, however, he was so much in pain that he had no strength and he couldn’t find those to pretend to be okay, even if he wanted. He hated the thought of being the source of your worries more than he hated himself and that pain that never went away. If he could, he would have lived his whole life pretending to be okay so he wouldn’t be your burden, even though he knew you would have been worried about him every single day of your life and you would never stop yourself from do it, because that’s what you do when you love someone more than your own existence, and he knew that very well, too, because he felt the same way about you when between you two you were the one who was in a bad mood.
And you wanted, on your side, to be able to take all his pain away from him and live it on your skin, and you would have done it every second of your life if that meant seeing him happy. It’s a great way to live making sure the love of your life doesn’t suffer. That was what you thought every second of your life with Arthur.
You stroked his hair for so long that you couldn’t tell how long it had been, but you noticed that the moon had risen even higher in the sky and brightened the room in a better way. Arthur hadn’t moved yet and he hadn’t said a word since you were home. You kept caressing his hair for a few more minutes, while you rocked him with your arms still around him and your right cheek rested on his hair, and then you decided to break that silence that made his pain resonate in every corner of the apartment.
“What happened, my sweetheart? Are you okay?” Arthur remained silent for a few seconds as he looked for the physical strength to answer you. “I’m okay”, he said with a decisive tone and a strength you would never expected at that moment, judging by how much his face was empty and wounded and he was still so weak that he couldn’t move. It was clear that he wasn’t okay and that he had probably consumed the only ounce of strength he had left to make you believe otherwise.
“Arthur…” you pushed your cheek away from his head and with the index finger of your left hand you raised his chin to look him in the eyes, “you know you can tell me everything, right? Are you really okay?” You smiled softly and holding his face with your hands you caressed him with your thumbs, taking away the paint from his face that had stained your hand. “And why… why are you wearing your make up?”
Never before he had been so determined not to let you into his world and you had to figure out why, you had to make him feel better and you wanted him to open his arms and let you enter into his haunted world, knowing that you would have love every single ghost you met on that road. His pain would never keep you away from him, and none of his ghosts would ever scare you. To your surprise, Arthur moved away from you, and that was the first movement he had made since you came home. He sat down and took the position he had when you walked into the living room and noticed him sitting on the couch. This time, though, his face wasn’t for television, it was for you. He stared at you with an intense, wounded look, in his eyes you could read the pain of his whole life that was tormenting him at that very moment. He was so determined that night to convince you that he was okay, even though his eyes made you understand everything he didn’t want to say, that he put his fingers to the corners of his mouth and raised them upward, faking a smile with such a strength that he felt his flesh burning and his face tightened in such a grip so painful that made him bend his eyebrows and forehead in a painful expression. Telling you he was okay wasn’t enough, so he decided to prove it to you in the only way he could.
In Arthur’s mind echoed the words of a lifetime, those same words that had never stopped tormenting him. My mother calls me Happy. Smile and put on a happy face. Your purpose in life is to spread joy and laughter into this cold, dark world. You have to be happy. Happy. Put on a happy face.
He had been told so many times that after all this time he had learned to hold his pain in his body so much that he was immobilized, it did not allow him to breathe properly and he felt every part of his skin burning. He wasn’t supposed to let anyone know his deepest pain, put on a happy face, or no one would ever love him, or his life wouldn’t have no meaning. To be loved he had to smile and be happy, his pain didn’t matter and no one was supposed to see it. How do you plan to spread joy and laughter in to the world if you aren’t happy in the first place? Put on a happy face, my little Happy boy. C’mon, Happy, put on a happy face.
He had to listen to that voice, he shouldn’t have felt that pain even though that day was deeper than the previous one and didn’t allow him to hide it. Especially that day when it was stronger than the other days, he had to do everything he could to keep that play that he didn’t even remember when it started. By hiding it in every possible way and holding it in his bowels, at the end, that day his grief had exploded invading everything around him.
The pain had invaded his mind which every day fought against the instinct to scream, it had invaded his body that he could barely move. It had also invaded his vision, the reason why he had noticed with difficulty how upset his Y/N was at the time. He saw you sitting next to him, he heard you talking, but even though your body was there and Arthur perceived you beside him, he could only see the outline of a person who would have pushed him away, as all the others with whom he had come across his life. What would you have done if he stopped smiling?
You’re not supposed to feel this pain, you freak. How do you think people will ever like you if you don’t feel the happiness you want to spread so much into the world? What would they have done with him if people realized he hadn’t been able to keep the only thing he seemed to be born for? Would they have dropped him in one of Gotham’s dark alleys, if they found out he couldn’t accomplish the one thing he’d ever been asked to do? Put on a happy face, you’re useless if you are sad. Your pain doesn’t matter. This is your job. This is your only purpose. Your pain doesn’t matter.
Even if he had trying to resist with all the strength of his fragile and minute body that was a battle already lost. How did ever think he could have the freedom to suffer and be comforted by the woman he loved, if even his own body had taught him for all his life to hide the pain behind a laugh? To burst into laughter every time he was upset?
Everything in his life had only one purpose. His mother, the name given to him, his job, his aspiration. His body, his neurological disorder. That purpose was to yell at him that he didn’t deserve to feel pain. And if he felt it, he had to laugh. Your pain doesn’t matter. Put on a happy face. Those words resonated in his mind every time he thought of his mother, every time he wore clown makeup at work, when he practiced his jokes in front of the mirror or when he simulated the old recorded episodes of the Murray Franklin Show. Put on a happy face.
“Arthur!” Your voice was broken as you held back tears from a pain that Arthur didn’t allow himself to experience. His hands were anchored with all his energies to his skin and in a second your hands were already on his to set him free from that painful grip that was inflicting himself.
Arthur smiled faintly at you in a dull and empty smile that had cost him so much effort, he was screaming inside and those screams had not allowed him to hear properly even the words that you spoke shortly after. “Don’t! Arthur, stop! What you are doing, my love?” You tried to be as calm as possible, you had to be strong for him and you didn’t want to upset him further with your tears, but you couldn’t disguise the pleading tone with which you called him my love, the desperate scream that came out of your mouth as you screamed at him to stop and the broken tone of your voice, that revealed all your pain and how you would have take his pain away from his soul. You held his hands tight in yours and kissed the spot on his finger with which he had hurt himself knowing that, if you had left them, he would have faked another smile and cause himself another grip of pain.
“I shouldn’t be feeling… that way… I disappointed you” he said, not answering your question, while his eyes focused on any point beyond your shoulders as if he were talking to someone. The voice in his head reminded him that his pain wasn’t important, that it didn’t have to exist, and it was so strong that he almost seemed to be able to look at that voice in front of him, growing and taking the shape of his mother yelling at him smile and put on a happy face. That voice had kept him company in his mind for so long that he couldn’t tell what his origin was, so he was so used to his presence. He thought of his mother and of all the times she had called him Happy, of all the times he had been told his purpose in the world was to make people smile, of all the times he wanted to cry and scream, but the only thing that came out of his body were desperate laughs that caused him only pain.
That’s why that day when his pain had been unbearable, at some point when his mind was clearer, he had found himself in the bedroom, sitting in front of the mirror that once belonged to his mother, wearing the clown make up. He was hoping that the fresh paint wouldn’t only paint his face but would also deceive his soul, he was hoping that the happiness that he desired so much would enter him and, above all, he was hoping that he would erase that pain and never feel it again, or he would try it less and at best, pretending it didn’t exist, he would start to believe it, just like he did until that day. Deceiving himself he hoped that even his Y/N would look at him and would only see the smile of a clown. He would tell you a joke and you would keep to love a brave man who felt no pain and who, not feeling pain, was still useful and not trash to throw away.
“In that way? What do you mean?“ You clung to his words because it was the only thing you could really get from him. You looked at him and his mind looked lost in a place very far away that you couldn’t reach, that he didn’t allow you to reach and looked like he wasn’t able not to feel on his skin even your touch. He was simply absent. "I… I shouldn’t be suffering” Arthur fought with all of himself as he tried to hold back tears that were in stark contrast to the words he had just said, were tears that Arthur couldn’t resist and came out of his eyes, making his way between his cheeks. “Arthur, my love, no baby,” you approached him just enough to put your hands on his face and kiss every tear that fell from his eyes and the corners of his mouth that he had hurt before. You looked into his eyes and wondered how two eyes so beautiful and deep could hold all the pain of a world that had only hurt him, and how eyes of such a bright green color could be so… dead eyes. “You don’t always have to be happy, my love”, you told him while between one word and another you kept kissing his tears. “You don’t have to pretend to be happy with me, or with anyone else.”
With your lips you kissed every single tear your mouth could reach and the tears you couldn’t reach in time were stopped by your thumbs that drove them away. “Is that the reason why you’re wearing your Carnival make up?” Arthur nodded between your hands that held him and your fingers that caressed his face. Your hands weren’t just holding his face, they were literally grounding him to reality and he felt his body held tight to his life thanks to your touch.
“It’s Joker now”. His body trembled but spoke with a firm tone of voice. Joker, you repeated it slowly to imprint it in your memory and in your skin. By lingering on every single letter of that name, Joker, you wanted to kiss every part of that identity that was growing up within him and you hoped that just by speaking it slowly, as you had just done, it would have make him feel loved. It would have make Joker feel loved. Joker had always been inside him, and now that he was finding the strength to emerge completely, you knew that you would have loved that part of him, too, and over time you would have known him even more deeply and love him even more. He had to feel loved and you tried to make him feel that love in every possible way. This has always been your main purpose: to teach him to love himself, to take care of his own feelings and to make him understand that the person to whom your heart, your soul and your entire existence belonged was him, your Arthur, your Carnival, your Joker.
“Arthur, Joker, love of my life. Your pain matters.” Your lips felt the salty taste of his tears and the bitter taste of the paint. Arthur’s make up was still visible but it had vanished along those thin stripes that his tears had formed falling on his face. You had never stopped kissing his tears, you hoped that by kissing the only way his body had found so far to express pain, Arthur would understand that you were kissing his pain itself and that you would have keep kissing him every day of your life, and by kissing his tears, you wanted to teach him to take care of himself in a way that he had never known before, but that you allowed yourself to teach him during the course of your relationship. He deserved to feel pain and he deserved to be seen pained.
“You don’t need to use your make-up with me to pretend you’re okay”, you had moved your face away from his face to speak up and only at that very moment, looking at his face entirely, you understood from his grateful look that everything you wanted to tell him through those kisses, he had heard it all. “I want you to allow me to see your pain, I want you to allow me to be here for you, and I love you no matter what you’re feeling.”
With your hands still on his cheeks, you were trying to wipe the smile of red paint off his face. You wanted to see his naked face, you wanted to see his real smile for what it was like at that exact moment, you wanted to see it whether if it was lifeless, or it was fake or even if it didn’t exist. You would have loved him anyway, and you wanted to see his beautiful lips so you could kiss them hoping you would have made him really smile in that kiss that you both, were sure, wished for.
“I want you to allow me to see your pain so I can send it away, because I love you even if you are not happy. I love all of you, all of your feelings and there isn’t a part of you that I couldn’t love. I love you entirely, and I am entirely yours.” Arthur answered by hugging you tightly. That day he had no strength, since you had returned home he was almost motionless, but as soon as his arms surrounded your body you were surprised by how much strength he had to hold you so intensely. You were his strength and he had found it again, thanks to you, and he had found also his energies that were slowly growing up through your contact and those words of love that he had felt to the soul, and he was showing you all of this in that deep hug.
He clutched you in a desperate way with his hands on your back, his nails anchored to your skin as if he was afraid you would have been gone at any moment. He probably would have left scratches on your back, but you didn’t care. If you could have carried on your body forever all the signs that Arthur inflicted on you, you would have done it. He was desperate to feel your existence and your body close to him because in his whole life he never thought that a person could feel such intense feelings for him and he was sure that, If he had released you from that hug and showed you that he was smiling, the first real smile he had done since he woke up, you would have smiled back, because every time one of you smiled for the other was almost impossible not to do the same. And you heard him smile for real, and you smiled back, and Arthur heard him.
You were two pieces of the same soul that had found each other, after all, and your existence made music that only you two could hear. Every time one of you smiled, the other felt it. Arthur moved away from you just enough to reach your lips with his own.
In a kiss that tasted like tears, paint, pain and just like Arthur, you read through his smiling lips while he was kissing you all his gratitude and all the love he felt for you. I love you, Y/N, this was the music of that kiss. I love you, and thank you for taking care of me like no one has ever done, and thank you for telling me that my feelings matter.
You didn’t know what happened that day, you didn’t even know if something really happened that day. Certain wounds don’t need a reason to explode. That was a pain that Arthur had kept in his body for so long that sooner or later it would explode with all the destructive power possible, and it could happen even on an ordinary day when, apparently, nothing different than the other days had happened. That day was the first of many other bad days you would have lived together because his demons were not yet gone, they were so deep that his soul would always need you, your hands that support him and a lot of care. He could still hear his demons scream at him as he kissed you and probably it’s impossibile to heal from such an intense wound, but those voices weren’t as strong as they were before you came over, and that was all that mattered. He only moved away from you a few inches to break the kiss and, in the very moment you lost the contact with his lips, you approached him with your hands to hold his face. Not feeling Arthur on your body was impossible since you always craved for him, and as soon as you lost his contact, you went back looking for it.
“Until a little while ago it was like nobody ever saw me, even I didn’t know if I even really existed.” He said, not looking at you in the eyes and making a sound that hardly looked like a laugh and instead brought out all his shame, as if he was telling you a deep thought that had been held for a long, very long time and for him it was even a fault to feel such a feeling. You held his face in your hands like a fragile thing you had to hold to keep it from breaking, because your purpose wasn’t to pick up his pieces and put them back together, your purpose was not to let anyone break him, in the first place, and to keep him whole. But if the part of that world he wanted to hide from had managed to catch him and had broken him, if you had found the pieces of him scattered on the floor, then you would have held him tight until those pieces would return to their place and you would personally checked that no one could have scratch them again.
“You exist, sweetheart, the love I feel for you is a proof that you exist. I see your pain. I see you. Okay? I. See. You. And you are beautiful, in every way.” You told him with your hands caressing his face and your lips a few inches from his lips, from that distance you could smell the paint on his skin. He didn’t answer, but you knew he was thanking you because he put his lips back on yours. In that kiss his demons had gone and the only voice he could hear in his mind was no longer the voice of his demons, or his mother. It was his own. I do exist. And people are starting to notice. You are noticing. I love you, Y/N.
You knew that teaching him to love himself and to experience his pain took a long time and that you would have to fight with him every day, and that was okay. That’s how love works, and with you, your love and a little patience, Arthur would understand it, and every day the voice that he heard in his head would fade, more and more. Until it completely disappeared.
You couldn’t took his pain away from him and erase it from his body to make him happy, no matter how much your soul might desire it, but every day you woke up with the purpose of helping him as best you could, with your presence and your love in his life, and every day you decided to bear his pain with him.
You couldn’t hold it all and free him from this burden, even if you wanted it with all your heart, but you could hold it together, going down with him into that abyss and pulling him out when the time had come. Or in the days when Arthur didn’t have the strength to come out of the abyss by himself because that pain froze him, just like that day, then you would have sat next to him holding him by the hand in that abyss that never scared you, and you would have stayed there until he would have found the strength to let it go and get back into his alert mind. He would have climbed back from the abyss without leaving your hand and would have found you again on the surface.
It was true that you wanted to eradicate out every seed of his pain from him as if it were a root but this had never prevented you from loving him with all of yourself even in his most difficult days, on the contrary this made you love him even more.
You love all of himself with all of yourself, even on days like these, because his pain is a part of him too.
He is your Arthur, your Carnival, your Joker, and you love him completely, and you couldn’t love him any other way.

“Discordant Sonata” Chapter 4
Hey guys! I finally finished the next chapter of “Discordant Sonata”!
Read it here on Ao3

CHAPTER 4:  WALTZ
(cw: panic attack)
Mood Music:  Medley from Frozer and Mayura (piano) - arranged by Corpington
I can’t believe I’m doing this, I can’t believe I’m doing this, why am I doing this, this is super dumb, this is a very bad idea, why am I going through with it, do I look okay, do I have lipstick on my teeth, why did I have to open my big mouth, why do I turn into a numbskull anytime I‘m around him, why does he have to be so dang wonderful and gorgeous and kind and — Ladybug anxiously rambled and fretted internally as she walked towards the designated meeting area at the Trocadero.
Sighing, she looked up the Sunday evening movie times for the 10th time and checked her cardigan pockets (yet again) to make sure she’d brought enough money for snacks. While she knew that Adrien could afford his own fare, she wasn’t sure if she’d be the one to pay because she was the one who invited him.
What even is date protocol?! What even is date protocol when you’re a SUPERHERO?
Marinette had only ever gone on a handful of dates, none going further than awkwardly holding hands or maybe a quick peck on the cheek at the end. Her parents were high school sweethearts, which meant they were of no real help to her because they had spent practically every waking moment together since they were kids; the way they’d gone about their courtship was entirely relaxed, natural, and informal. So essentially, she was entirely lacking in experience in this field.
She finally spotted said object of her affections leaning against a pillar wearing a red zip-up hoodie, as promised. He wore his hood up, and yet he almost seemed to glow ethereally despite the dim evening light. Taking a deep breath, she walked towards him in what she hoped looked like a carefree and relaxed gait and not like a platypus, which is what she felt like in her disguise. To borrow a phrase from her school nemesis: utterly ridiculous.
A few dozen meters away, Adrien rubbed his hands nervously, then opted to stick them in his pockets to try to avoid drawing attention to himself. Plagg had snickered the whole way there and even now he kept busting out into fits of uncontrollable giggles every so often. Adrien rolled his eyes. Maybe Plagg was right and this was a horrible idea. And although Plagg did eventually warm up to the concept of going on a date with Ladybug, Adrien suspected that it was just because he wanted to watch him crash and burn.
He shook his head in determination, reminding himself that he was there on a mission: to investigate and determine whether Ladybug was trustworthy or whether she was two-faced.
Behind him someone abruptly cleared their throat. He turned to look at whoever was trying to get his attention and came face to face with a stunning young woman wearing a stylish, long sleeved cardigan and a flowing mid-length skirt. Her long, raven hair was in a low ponytail and she sported large Hello Kitty eyeglasses with tinted lenses that looked slightly out of place with the rest of her ensemble but somehow pulled the look together nonetheless.
“Hello,” he greeted. “Can I help you?” The thought entered his mind that maybe this was one of his fans and she had recognized him despite wearing his hood.
“Um,” the young woman replied, rubbing her arm nervously. “Hi Adrien. It’s me.” She waved with a gloved hand and smiled shyly, her lips shimmering with a soft pink lip gloss.
Adrien moved closer so he could see her face more clearly. He squinted for a moment, then his eyes widened in recognition. He gave a small gasp and started to exclaim, “Ladyb--!”
Ladybug surged forward and put her hand over his mouth, and raised her other hand to made a “Shh” sign. Adrien finally noticed that she was wearing her mask under the tinted glasses. He realized that she was transformed under the clothes she was wearing. He had half expected her to show up as herself, although, all things considered, that may have been a very bad idea. He had also wondered if she’d show up in her civilian form and potentially reveal her identity, but Ladybug wasn’t reckless enough to do something like that. He hadn’t considered the possibility of her wearing a disguise over a disguise.
Ladybug stood on her tiptoes and put her free hand on his shoulder so she could whisper into his ear, her breath tickling his neck pleasantly, “I didn’t want us to attract any attention but I had to come while transformed. Miraculouses have glamour magic that helps protect the wearer's identity, otherwise there’s a chance I’d be recognized.” She lowered herself and asked timidly, “I-is that okay?”
Adrien felt like his heart was trying to jump out of his chest and he desperately hoped he wasn’t as red as he felt.  At this proximity, even without his enhanced Chat Noir sense he could still subtly smell her familiar floral scent, which always brought him inexplicable comfort. He could count the adorable tiny freckles speckled on her nose, could feel the warmth radiating from her hand in spite of the thin material of her suit, could see the lights from the Eiffel Tower reflected in her piercing, azure eyes. Suppressing a dreamy sigh, he nodded slightly and let out a muffled, “Mm-hmm.”
Ladybug gasped. “Oh! I’m sorry!” she sputtered and released him, then put some distance between them.
Wringing her hands, she spoke softly, her cheeks pink, “Thank you, by the way. For coming here. I realize this... ‘outing’ may not be exactly what you’re used to, but... it means a lot to me that you even showed up.”
Ladybug’s captivating smile almost caused Adrien’s knees to buckle, which confused him to no end. We’re literally just standing here talking, what is WRONG with me??
Shaking himself out of his slight haze, he replied, “Thanking you for inviting me. I’ve been looking forward to it,” he half-lied. She didn’t really need to know just how terrified he’d been.
“Thanks, Adrien. I appreciate it. But, having said that,” she added anxiously, “I... I wanted to give you one last chance to back out. I don’t want you to feel obligated to go through with it.” She looked up at him, eyes filled with apprehension and dread. “I’ll totally understand if you change your mind. Really. I wouldn’t want you to have to do something that you’re uncomfortable with.”
Adrien smiled at her fondly. She was so unexpectedly considerate, as she’d proven to both sides of himself. He wasn’t accustomed to being given a choice, of having the agency to do whatever he was comfortable or not comfortable with doing. Her thoughtful gesture filled his chest with warm tingles, and he found himself suppressing an indescribably strong urge to hug her.
Grinning sympathetically, he took a step towards her and offered her his arm. “Shall we?”
Ladybug beamed and her whole countenance brightened, then she took his arm. “Yes!”
It was extraordinarily difficult for Adrien to keep his attention on the movie. All around him everyone laughed and exclaimed at the protagonists’ antics and misadventures, but, as if by some magnetic force, his eyes were pulled elsewhere; he unwittingly yet frequently stole glances at his masked companion, who laughed along with the rest of the audience. Her radiant smile and unbridled laughter was so infectious, he couldn’t keep himself from grinning widely himself whenever he peeked at her. Anytime their hands brushed while sharing snacks (which, after a short debate on who would pay for what, they’d settled on her buying the tickets and him buying the snacks), it would send his heart racing for reasons he could not fully comprehend. At one point their eyes met and she grinned cheerfully at him. He returned the smile and was infinitely grateful that the theater was dark, since he was pretty sure that his face was beet red instead of its usual color.
Ladybug seemed so ordinary here, but in the best way. A way that made her extremely approachable and warm. A way that put his nerves at ease while simultaneously setting fire to his chest. In the battlefield she had always seemed so fierce and intimidating to him, but that was not how he felt now. He felt perfectly comfortable and, dare he say it… safe . How was this chipper and animated girl that same intense and formidable opponent that he was so used to seeing as Chat Noir? It was baffling, to say the least.
UGH, I need to stop thinking and actually try to focus on the movie so I can have something to talk about afterwards, he scolded himself.
Instead of paying attention, however, Adrien found himself wondering about just that: what exactly they would be doing after the movie. The plan was for them to go to an outdoor cafe so the darkness would help to conceal Ladybug’s presence from others, followed by a walk along the Seine.
He wasn’t really sure what was considered “normal,” as this was the first date he had ever actually agreed to go on. All of his previous (and numerous) other dates had been arranged by either Nathalie or his father and added to his schedule without him even being consulted about it; each and every one of them meticulously fabricated for some strategic socioeconomic or business purpose. Some of those dates ended with a bored, cordial handshake from both parties (much to his relief), but most of the time his companions were superficial and flirtatious, always aiming to take advantage of him and benefit from their affiliations, which only worsened as he got older. His dates had become increasingly provocative and pushy, which he detested and almost feared.
However, since this date had all been entirely voluntary and Ladybug was letting Adrien participate in all the decision making, did that also mean that he would also get to choose how to end his date with her?
Is there a handshake? A hug? Is there a k-- A kis-- AUGH!!
His stomach flip-flopped anxiously just thinking about it. What was the traditional way of doing things? Although, he supposed, this date wasn’t exactly like a traditional date, to say the least.
Before he knew it, the movie was over and Ladybug reached over to touch his forearm, since apparently she’d been trying to get his attention.
She smiled sweetly and asked, “Um, shall we go? Unless you really wanted to stay til the end of the credits.”
Adrien stammered as he stood, “Oh- uh, no, it’s fine. We can go.” They walked over to the garbage and recycling bins to get rid of all their empty wrappers and containers, then walked out of the auditorium.
As they made their way towards the theater’s exit, Ladybug asked, “So how did you like the movie?”
Adrien’s brain froze, but he managed to stutter out, “Uh, it was… it was really something, huh?”
Ladybug replied enthusiastically, “Yes, it sure was! I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard!” she giggled and continued, “What was your favorite part?”
Drawing a complete blank, Adrien desperately tried to remember an event from the movie, just anything at all. “W-well, it- it was…”
“Holy crap, is that Adrien Agreste?!” a voice exclaimed from a few meters away.
Ladybug and Adrien whipped their heads around towards the source of the yelling.
“Oh no,” Adrien let out a bleak sigh.
Instantly more excited cries chimed in.
“No way! It’s really him!”
“It’s the legit Adrien Agreste!”
“Wow! He watches movies like regular people!”
“Oh my goodness, let’s get his picture!”
Within seconds they were surrounded by squealing fans, all shuffling to try to get as close to him as possible.
It was then that Adrien realized that he’d forgotten to put his sweatshirt’s hood back on. He groaned internally, berating himself for his absent-mindedness. This situation could very quickly spiral out of control.
Ladybug touched his shoulder apprehensively. “We need to get you out of here,” she whispered to him. He glanced at her nervously and nodded. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders protectively and they began their attempt to shuffle away from the mob of starry-eyed teenagers.
In the commotion, Ladybug cried out as she was jostled roughly and knocked over against Adrien, who instinctively caught her by the waist. She held tightly onto his arms, stabilizing herself.
“My L- uh... hey, Ladybug, are you alright?” he asked quietly, concern lacing his voice.
Ladybug looked up at him, her eyes still wide and startled, but a beat later she relaxed a bit then smiled at him, replying softly, “Yeah. Thanks.”
Adrien could feel his face flush as he stared down at her, the latter looking more vulnerable, more… human than he was used to. He smiled back and gently helped her right herself, hands still on her waist. She held his gaze, her own cheeks a bit pink as well... most likely flustered from being shoved by the crowd, he surmised. Her eyelashes fluttered slowly, her bright eyes contrasting against the deep red of her mask.
...Her mask.
He could see her mask.
Adrien’s expression changed from one of fondness to one of complete shock, and Ladybug’s face scrunched in confusion.
Mortified, Adrien stammered, “Y-your glasses—”
Ladybug reached up to touch her face and realized that they’d fallen when she was pushed. She quickly scanned the floor, trying to spot her fallen glasses. After a few moments of searching she realized that it would be near impossible to find them in this crowd.
“Forget it,” she said, shaking her head. “There’s no way I’ll find them. Let’s just leave.”
Beside them, a fan yelled, “Is that Ladybug?!”
More voices clamored, “It is Ladybug!”
“What? She’s here??”
“She’s with Adrien!”
“A celebrity date?! How romantic!”
“Someone get a picture!!”
Adrien winced and let out a grumble. “Great.”
He whipped around and snatched Ladybug’s hand. “Run!” he cried.
Ladybug made no objections as they bolted through the crowd, making their way out of the theater and into the enormous shopping center. As it was indoors, Ladybug couldn’t swing them away from the crowd using her yoyo, which would have been ideal. Instead, they were forced to try to leave the mall through the proper exit. Unfortunately, said exit was quite a ways from their current location; additionally they were on the third level.
Deciding to skip the escalators altogether, Ladybug picked up a very surprised Adrien and leaped to the floor below. Adrien let out an involuntary gasp and wrapped his arms tightly around her shoulders, pressing himself close to her small yet powerful frame. They landed gracefully and Ladybug uttered a quick apology as she set him down, taking his hand once again.
The two quickly made their way towards the exit… only to encounter another sizable group of teenagers who were loitering near the doors of the shopping center, as it was closing time. Despite them still being a few meters away, Adrien was instantly recognized and they approached the pair. He swore under his breath, then pulled Ladybug in the opposite direction.
As they ran back, they caught sight of the previous crowd from the movies making their way down the escalators, who would no doubt notice them in a few moments. Stopping short, Ladybug let out a short whimper and looked up at Adrien, her expression full of worry and clearly having run out of ideas. His eyes darted around looking for another escape route. A beat later, he located a possible hiding spot and tugged on Ladybug’s hand to get her attention. She quickly understood and followed him.
Together they dashed into a small side hallway and scrambled into a storage closet at the far end, shutting the door quietly.
Panting from the exertion of having sprinted across the mall, Ladybug and Adrien met each others’ eyes, chuckling awkwardly as they stood tightly pressed up against each other in the tiny room, which was full of large, heavy boxes.
For a few of minutes neither of them spoke a word, but strained to listen to the commotion outside, trying to figure out if they had been discovered.
Once the noise dissipated (no doubt due to the crowd being ushered outside by mall security), they shared a hopeful look. Breathing slowed as they took the time to loosen their postures and relax. Head still reeling from what had occurred, Ladybug asked him, “Is… is it always like this? With your fans?”
Adrien shrugged, resting his back against the closed door. “Well, not always. But…” he mused, “We did have a photo shoot a couple of weeks ago and, uhhh... there was a lot of leather.”
Ladybug’s eyes widened in confusion and her head tilted to the side. “...Leather?” she queried. “Sounds like an… interesting shoot.”
Flustered, Adrien clarified, “Th-that is...! Leather clothes! Leather pants and leather jackets, motorcycles, the ‘bad boy’ look, that sort of thing.”
Ladybug realized that she knew exactly which photo shoot he was talking about. In fact, she remembered it very well. It was her new favorite magazine spread of his. He had always played the part of the angelic, flawless, studious blonde model who you’d want to take home to meet your parents over dinner. The leather photo shoot, however, complete with deadly smouldering eyes and sinful parted lips, was a complete change from his usual innocent portrayal. She’d already purchased two copies of the magazine... although she wasn’t about to divulge that information to the aforementioned model while standing chest to chest against him in a tiny closet.
“Aha, gotcha,” she replied nonchalantly. She looked up at Adrien who chuckled sheepishly, cheeks tinged with a delightful shade of pink which was visible despite having a dim light bulb as the only light source.
“Well, I bet you looked amazing. Especially if this is the reaction you’ve been getting lately. Maybe you should wear leather more often,” she teased with a wink.
Adrien blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Ah, um, well, I guess- maybe,” he stammered timidly. Was she flirting with him? Not that he was opposed to the idea. They’d flirted playfully as Chat Noir and Ladybug many times, but he wasn’t used to being flirted with as Adrien by anyone without ulterior motives. It was… nice.
They stood in silence for a few moments, neither knowing what to do or say next.
Mood Music: The Dark Side - Muse
Eyeing the door across from her, Ladybug decided to take the initiative and speak first. “Well, I’m sure all your rabid fans are gone,” she said as she tried to go around him and failed because of the lack of available space. She abandoned that idea and instead she reached across to grab the doorknob next to Adrien’s waist. “We should head out too, since it’s getting pretty la-” she suddenly went quiet and her eyebrows furrowed. She tried turning the doorknob again, but as before, it didn’t budge.
It was locked from the outside.
“Wh-what’s wrong?” Adrien asked nervously in spite of himself, already suspecting exactly what was wrong.
Ladybug quirked her mouth to the side. “It’s stuck. Or locked.”
Adrien’s hand instantly reached for the door for confirmation. He roughly twisted and yanked on the doorknob in desperation, his hands suddenly becoming clammy and slick.
Ladybug noticed his erratic movements and grew increasingly concerned. “Hey, are you feeling alright?”
Adrien didn’t answer. Was he trembling? She looked closely at him and noticed his pupils becoming dilated. His breathing was rapidly becoming more and more shallow. His other hand was clenched into a painfully tight fist and he appeared as though he’d collapse at any moment.
He looks woozy and disoriented… Is he sick??
“It’s going to be okay, Adrien,” she attempted to reassure him. “We’ll find a way out and we can find someplace for you to lie down if you’re not feeling well.”
But it was like he hadn’t even heard her. He quietly muttered, “No, no, no… We’re trapped. We can’t get out of here and we’re stuck, just- trapped. What if we never get out? What-what if we can’t-- Don’t keep me in here, please, please let me out...” he trailed off, mumbling absently.
Ladybug’s eyes popped wide open in realization. Adrien was claustrophobic. He was having a panic attack.
Oh no… What have I done?
Guilt flooded into her like a waterfall. She never should have brought Adrien here. This whole thing was wrong. She shouldn’t have approached him as Ladybug. He didn’t know anything about her, and “Ladybug” wasn’t supposed to know anything about him. Getting close to him would only put him in danger. If Hawkmoth were to find out that he’d been associated with her it would be disastrous. But she’d been too careless, too selfish, too self-absorbed and infatuated to think clearly and now Adrien was the one paying for her grievous lack of judgment.
Ladybug was brought back to reality as Adrien’s breathing hitched sporadically and his chest heaved laboriously. She braced herself in case she needed to catch him were he to pass out from lack of oxygen, but she hoped it wouldn’t come to that.
Watching Adrien helplessly as he continued down a spiral of fear, she knew she had to do something. She tried desperately to stay calm and level-headed for his sake. She needed to help him get through this.
Pulling herself together after a brief self-pep talk, she tried to reassure him softly, “Hey. It’s okay, Adrien. I’m right here with you, you’re not alone. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. You’re not going to get hurt, I promise.”
Adrien squeezed his eyes shut. She could tell that he’d heard her and was trying to process her words. She waited a few moments and added, “Are you okay with physical touch? Is it alright if I touch your arm?”
Adrien paused, then nodded slightly in response.
Ladybug’s hand reached over slowly and tentatively touched his forearm. Once she was sure that he really was okay with the contact, she eased upwards to his shoulder and rubbed it gently.
She tried again, “We need to slow down your breathing. Try to take some deep breaths.”
Frantic, he stammered, “I ca- I can’t! I’m... it-it’s too… I can’t!” he cried.
Ladybug slowly took his hand and gently pressed it up to the area just below her neck at the collarbone. She held it there with an almost featherlight touch.
As calmly as she could, she cooed soothingly, “Breathe with me, Adrien. Follow my lead.”
His head turned and he stared at where his hand rested on her. Finally meeting her eyes, his pupils finally began to focus again. With a last shaky breath, he nodded.
Adrien accepted Ladybug’s other hand and placed it on his own chest, his larger hand covering hers completely.
She took deep breaths and he did the same, their hands a physical indicator to help him follow along. Their breaths intermingled during their synchronizations, and Adrien’s trembling steadily decreased, as did his heart rate.
Ladybug smiled comfortingly. “You’re doing so awesome, Adrien. Would it help if I rubbed your back?”
His eyes were still squeezed shut, but he replied, “Y-ye-… Please.”
Ladybug reached behind him and gently placed her hand on his back when he suddenly lurched forward to crush her into a tight embrace, holding onto her as if she were a tether to reality. She leaned her head against his as she practically held up his body from falling over. It broke her heart to see him like this, to learn of yet another hardship he had to struggle with.
Pushing those thoughts aside, she whispered softly, repeating, “Everything’s okay… you’re okay… We’re going to be completely fine… we’re not in any danger. You’re doing so great…” Her hands gently slid in wide, smooth strokes and circles on his back.
They stayed that way for a few minutes, the only sounds were Adrien breathing and Ladybug’s peaceful ministrations.
Adrien practically nuzzled into her as he whispered, “Thanks, Ladybug.”
Ladybug blushed despite herself. Adrien had been able to push through and recover from his panic attack. Butterflies swelled within her and she was so immensely proud of him; she couldn’t help but smile.
“We won’t be in here forever,” she spoke soothingly. She knew she needed to talk about the situation rationally to try to help Adrien keep his fears under control.  “Even if we can’t get out right this moment, someone will find us eventually.”
“But that could take hours,” he replied, gulping, and pulled away slightly. “The mall doesn’t open until 9am.”
They both thought for a few moments, trying to come up with an idea.
“Couldn’t you like… punch the door open?” he asked. “You’re pretty strong. I could always pay the mall back for the, uh… vandalism.”
Ladybug scrunched her face in consideration. “I could possibly kick it open. But… there’s not quite enough room for me to raise my leg. Plus, you’re right in front of the door and you’d be in the way, since I can’t go around. I might hurt you. I don’t want to risk that.”
Adrien breathed out through his mouth, much calmer than before but obviously still distressed. “What else can we do?” He looked at her hopelessly.
Ladybug frowned. There weren’t a lot of options. She couldn’t use her Lucky Charm for self-gain. Detransforming while Adrien closed his eyes so Tikki could unlock the door was out of the question also (Fu had made it crystal clear that she was never to trust anyone with her detransformation, no matter the circumstances).
She looked around, examining her surroundings. Above the boxes behind her she spotted a single vent on the ceiling. It was the only escape route. If they made their way through the air ducts, it would lead them back out into the mall and they could finally leave.
We could climb up the vent, she thought. However... it looks too small for Adrien. She furrowed her brows, deep in concentration.
Adrien followed her gaze and noticed the vent as well. He shook his head. “That won’t work. I’m way too big, I’d never fit through that hole. But...” He stopped suddenly, eyes wide and he looked back at her, throat dry. “But you could.”
“No! No, don’t worry, Adrien. I wouldn’t leave without you,” she quickly reassured him. “You have nothing to worry about.”
Adrien continued resolutely, “I don’t think we have a choice. I think you need to do it.”
“What?! But Adrien, I-” she cried, bewildered. “I can’t leave you alone in here! There’s gotta be another way,” she argued, arms flailing as much as the available space allowed.
He placed both his hands on her shoulders and gave her a small smile. “I’ll be fine, really. Unless you want to spend the next 10 hours in here without food or a bathroom break, you have to. I...” he stopped and considered carefully. “I’ll be alright. I believe in you,” he said quietly.
Ladybug bit her lip, debating his proposal. She twisted the edge of her cardigan nervously. She didn’t want to leave him lest he have another panic attack. He was right though. They had to escape unless they wanted to wait an obscenely long amount of time locked in a closet together. Which, had she been asked prior to this experience whether she’d be okay with being stuck in a closet overnight with the love of her life, she would have gladly leaped at the chance. But she’d never known about his claustrophobia. She felt horrible about this. How could she not have known? Had he ever told anyone?
All things considered, however, it made perfect sense. If anyone knew a thing or two about what it’s like to be trapped, it was Adrien Agreste. He could hardly ask for a drink of water without being closely monitored. It was a miracle that he’d even been allowed to go on a date with a girl his father hadn’t run a background check on. Or… had he snuck out? How would he be able to do it without being detecte-
“Ladybug?” Adrien asked uncertain, interrupting her thoughts and bringing her attention back to the current situation.
She finally looked up at him, expression resolute. “Okay, I’ll do it. I won’t be long, I promise.”
Ladybug reached into her pocket and pulled something out; a flash of red caught his attention.
“Here, take this,” she said, holding out the item out in front of her. Adrien’s eyes widened as he realized what it was.
“Your yo-yo?!” Adrien stammered. “W-why? I don’t know how to use it.”
Ladybug placed it on his hand squeezed reassuringly with both of hers. “You don’t need to. I want you to hold onto it. That’s how you’ll know that I’m coming back and that you’re not alone.” She looked straight into his eyes earnestly. “So you know that I would never leave you behind.”
A shiver ran up Adrien’s spine and his stomach twisted into knots. He had never seen her without her yo-yo. It was her only defense and weapon.
And Ladybug trusted him with it. Trusted him.
Breathless, Adrien nodded.
Ladybug quickly shrugged off her outer clothes so all that remained was her regular costume. Adrien gathered up as much courage as he could, watching her climb haphazardly up the tall mountain of boxes at the back of the room. She stuck her fingers between the vent slats and easily pulled it out.
Turning her head back towards Adrien, she called at him with forced cheerfulness, “See you in a minute!” Then she disappeared.
Adrien was alone. It was just him and the darkness.
He squeezed his eyes shut and leaned up against the door, working hard to keep his breathing even. He could feel his heart begin to race and and a wave of nausea hit him yet again. He struggled and fought to push away the thoughts of hopelessness, clutching Ladybug’s yo-yo tightly against his chest, which gave him a sense of security and control.
Plagg peeked out from Adrien’s pocket before he emerged to perch on his shoulder. “Hey, kid, you know I could get you out in a jiffy! I could touch the door and KABOOM! Free as a bird!” “What?! Plagg, no!” Adrien protested.
Pouting in response, Plagg muttered, “Party pooper.” He amended, “ Fine. I guess I could just phase through the door and unlock it for you.”
Adrien seemed to consider Plagg’s suggestion for a second but replied, “No, we can’t do that. How would I even begin to explain it to her?” With fake cheer, he dramatized, “‘Hey Ladybug! By the way, I had my kwami open the door for me, I hope you don’t mind,’” then added sarcastically, “Because that’s not suspicious at allllll.”
“So we’re just going to sit here and wait?” Plagg protested.
Sighing, Adrien said, “Yeah. We have to trust Ladybug. She’ll get us out.”
Storing that thought for later teasing when Adrien wasn't so emotional, Plagg flew to the top of Adrien’s head to lay down and assured him, gently patting his head, “Don’t worry, buddy. She’ll get here soon.”
Concentrating, he thought of Ladybug assisting him with his breathing earlier; he visualized their hands on each other, remembering the rhythm of their breaths. He followed along with this memory, inhaling and exhaling deeply and slowly, his mind focusing on thinking about Ladybug and her calming presence instead of thinking about where he was at the moment. He thought about her words, her whispered reassurances that his situation was only temporary, that the chances of him being stuck in that closet forever were slim to none.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
I can do this. She’s coming back.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
She will come back. She’s not like Father. She’ll keep her promise, right?
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Right...?
After what felt like an eternity, there was a jiggle at the doorknob. Adrien’s back straightened like a shot and he stepped away from the door, waiting expectantly.
The door swung open, and there stood Ladybug, who looked concerned at first, but upon seeing that he was relatively calm and not panicking, she smiled brightly at him.
“Ta-da!” She said in sing-song. “I’m back! A little dusty but no worse for wear.” More quietly, she asked, “How about you? Are you alright?”
He said nothing but walked up to her slowly practically dragging his feet and stopped right in front of her. She looked up at him through her lashes, eyebrows slightly upturned, eyeing him curiously. Bending over, he hugged her, a shudder racking his large frame, which suddenly felt smaller than Ladybug had ever witnessed. He buried his face into the crook of her neck, gripping her tightly.
“Adrien…”  Ladybug was speechless and confused, yet she gingerly wrapped her arms around him in return.
“You…” he panted as he squeezed her tightly. “You came back for me.”
“Oh, Adrien.” She reached up with one hand, gently stroking the back of his head, threading her fingers slowly through his soft (yet a bit damp from sweat) hair. “I would never abandon you. Not ever.”
They stayed that way for a while, both relieved to be out of that horrid, musty space.
Mood Music:  Someone to Die For - Jimmy Gnecco
The night air was fresh and crisp and the breeze felt particularly amazing after their unprecedented ordeal. Adrien let out a relieved sigh, clearly elated to be out in the open once again.
“This is much better, huh?” Ladybug sighed lightly, having donned her previous disguise again.
“Absolutely,” Adrien replied airily, stretching his arms over his head. “It always feels amazing to be outdoors.”
Ladybug glanced towards the direction of the café they were supposed to go to and frowned. There was still enough time to do a quick meal before it closed, but she knew it would be useless to try to salvage this poor excuse of a date and retain any semblance of normalcy after what had just happened.
“Listen, Adrien, I…” she started as she turned to face him. “I think I should take you home,” she said contritely.
“...Oh.” Adrien replied, feeling somewhat disappointed for some reason. He looked away, not knowing what to say or how to proceed. “I understand,” he finally answered, rubbing the back of his neck. Truth was, he didn’t entirely understand. But he wasn’t about to argue with Ladybug, so he allowed her to pick him up and carry him home.
Minutes later, Ladybug carefully avoided the Agreste mansion’s cameras and swung them both into Adrien’s bedroom through the large, slightly open window. After setting Adrien down, he and Ladybug stared at each other, both wanting to say something but not knowing what or how.
Ladybug shuffled her feet awkwardly and spoke first. “Adrien, I’m… I’m sorry about tonight.” Her gaze dropped, unable to look at him anymore. “I’m really, really sorry. I totally messed up.”
Adrien could see that she was struggling to keep her emotions under control. She inhaled sharply and resumed, voice quavering, “I didn’t keep your safety in mind, which is the most important duty I have to all of Paris, and I was irresponsible. I should have known better,” she said bitterly, clearly angry with herself.
Adrien stood stiffly, unsure of how to respond. He was so taken aback by this sudden outburst; he’d never seen Ladybug display any kind of negative emotion that wasn’t aimed towards Hawkmoth or at himself as Chat Noir. It wasn’t like her at all to show any sort of flaw in front of anybody, much less in front of someone who she thought was merely a civilian, someone who would depend on her strength and confidence to feel safe.
His father had always taught him that you must never show even the tiniest hint of insecurity or vulnerability in front of others because it would give your opponents the upper hand. They must never see you weak. Adrien had failed at meeting this principle countless times, although not from lack of trying. He always had figured he just wasn’t strong like his father, and that he needed to try harder to meet his expectations.
However, his current situation was causing him to examine and reconsider this ideology. Was showing “weakness” truly a weakness? He didn’t think any less of her after finding out that she made mistakes, and not only that, but she owned up to them and accepted the consequences of her actions. If anything, it made him feel better about himself to know that she experienced negative emotions like regret, frustration, and self-doubt. The knowledge that he wasn’t the only one out of the two of them, the ladybug and cat miraculous wielders, who had these faults, it felt… comforting. It felt right.
Ladybug quickly wiped away a tear, taking a deep breath. “I should have known it would be a disaster. People like me aren’t supposed to be doing stuff like this.” She scoffed with a grimace, “Some ‘hero’ I am, endangering a civilian, maybe even risking you getting akumatized in there. I’m supposed to protect you, not put you in harm’s way. It was selfish of me to try to pretend I was normal, I guess.”
Adrien guiltily recalled the conversation they’d had while dancing at the ballroom akuma attack a couple of nights prior:
“Just let me have your miraculous. We could stop fighting and then you’d never have to see me again. I’d be out of your hair and you could live a normal life and be a normal girl who worries about normal things, and not have to worry about all of this.”
He couldn’t help but feel empathy for her. She was just a regular person who’d been chosen out of everyone in one of the most populated cities in Europe to take on a huge power and burden, and she was doing it alone. And she had been for years; she’d been just a kid back then. It was a lot of pressure. He couldn’t blame her for wanting to reach out to someone and not feel as lonely.
Enemy or not, Adrien couldn’t stand to see her cry, especially not because of him.
“Ladybug, hey,” he lifted her chin and wiped away a stray tear with his other hand. “It’s okay. Really. I’m fine now.” He shrugged. “Maybe we both didn’t exactly make the best decision about doing this but I’m not upset with you, and I don’t regret it.” He then added without thinking, “And... I think you’re doing a great job trying to protect everyone. In fact, I really admire you.”
Wait, what?   His brain short-circuited.
Ladybug sniffled. “R-really?”
Do I really?!  Adrien internally yelled.
He couldn’t deny that she was impressive. He had his father on his side while she was by herself. Or maybe she had the guardian to help her, he wasn’t sure. But out in the battlefield it was just her. They’d gotten close to defeating her a few times only to have her turn it around on them using only her wits and creativity. And while it had been frustrating every time it happened, looking back on it, it really was quite remarkable, if he were to be completely honest with himself. He always did appreciate the tenacity of an underdog.
Smiling, Adrien replied decisively, “Yeah. I do.”
Eyes shining, she beamed at him and said, “Thank you. That’s so sweet of you to say.” Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink (most likely because she’d just been crying, he figured); nevertheless he felt his own face reddening as well.
She sighed and hesitated before speaking again. “In any case, this experience taught me that I must stick to my responsibilities and can’t make the same mistake again. I… I’ll stay away from you from now on. I won’t give you any more trouble and you’ll be out of danger. I’m sorry to have bothered you.”
Adrien felt a pang of inexplicable sadness upon hearing these words. But why? Why should he care that Ladybug couldn’t be seen hanging out with some random citizen? He understood why it would be risky from her perspective. And she didn’t owe him anything. They didn’t even know each other... Theoretically. It was for the best, he supposed.
And yet... it still hurt for some reason.
“I understand, Ladybug,” he finally replied, masking his disappointment. “Don’t worry about it, I’m not offended. And, for what it’s worth…” he added shyly, rubbing his neck. “I’m glad you asked me. To go out with you, that is. I really did enjoy spending time with you.”
“Really??” Ladybug replied incredulously, her face turning almost as red as her mask. “T-thank you, Adrien. That means a lot.”
Adrien held back a sigh. “I know you said we wouldn’t be hanging out with each other anymore but…” he said timidly, “If you ever see me around, will you- uh… will you be sure to stop and say hello? Don’t be a stranger.”
Grinning widely, she replied, “Of course.”
Her eyes bore into his, as if carefully considering his words. Hesitantly, Ladybug took a slow step forward so that their bodies almost touched. She tentatively took his hands and held them between hers, causing goosebumps to spread all over his body. As he was almost a whole head taller than she was, she craned her neck upwards so she could see in his face if her actions were unwelcome. Adrien’s heart skipped a beat in anticipation as he waited, unconsciously tilting his head down slightly.
Then it happened. Time seemed to slow down to a crawl and everything was silent. Ladybug gracefully stood on her toes and leaned forward to place a most delicate kiss on his cheek. He let out a soft gasp despite himself, heat flooding his face, chest swelling with a feeling he couldn’t identify. She didn’t pull away for a few moments, her soft, warm skin remaining on his, and he distinctly felt a sense of rightness, or belonging. It was as if their heartbeats and their breathing were in sync, like gears in a clock that fit together perfectly. What was this feeling, and more importantly, why was he yearning for more?
Before he could ponder it further, he felt Ladybug smile and she whispered, “See you around, handsome boy.”
With a quick wave, she sauntered towards the window and zipped away, leaving a very dazed and blushing Adrien behind holding his cheek, which almost seemed to tingle at that point.
Breathless, he muttered out loud, “Did… did she just call me ‘handsome boy’?”, which was followed by shrill hysterical laughing coming from his pocket.

Kedr Livanskiy
The opening of Kedr Livanskiy’s Your Needtwinkles into audibility—a breathless mist, an upbeat shift. Quickly, it’s back down to earth, leveled by warm, warbling vocals. But for a minute, it’s pure pop, effervescent teenage girlhood cut, deliciously, with a little winking excess. Yana Kedrina—the artist behind the nom de plume—is radiant, unfathomably long platinum hair echoing the yellow stripe down the side of Your Need’s album cover. This second album, the Bandcamp copy tells us, is “a celebration of life and rebirth”—a high-energy jaunt, clubby and cavorting with peaks like “Bounce 2” and the focused, grainy build of the penultimate “City Track.”
We’re eating hummus in the back of a Persian grocery store in London when Lawrence tells me he has a surprise. It’s embargoed but Really Exciting; he needs my passport and won’t tell me why until I guess the spot. He holds up a photo of the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre, and my dumb American sensibility is like, uhh, I don’t know, it’s some grungy former Eastern Bloc destination that, five years down the line, guys in Carhartts will describe as the Bushwick of the East? Maybe, in a manner of speaking. The depth of my Russian cultural knowledge is really nil, pathetic, so he humanely cuts me off to answer. Moscow. We’re going to Moscow.
Aside from some half-retained undergrad lectures about early Soviet film montage, Kedr Livanskiy is the beginning and end of my insight into the Russian avant-garde. I stream her debut EP, January Sun, on repeat while I wait for my visa to get approved, wandering around Berlin and relaxing into the titular track’s metered, melancholy flow. I’m kind of down about a bunch of impending change so January Sunand Audrey Wollen’s Sad Girl Theory are propping me up while I twitch around the cramped apartment block where I’m staying for a filmmaking residency, in which I learn that I actually really, really don’t want to be a filmmaker. The early EP, released in 2016, has a lo-fi grit about it that perfectly suits Berlin’s much-maligned maxim, “Poor but Sexy,” with its reverberant hum.
Landing in Moscow, I’m allayed, for a second. Compared to Berlin, everything’s immaculate—pastel confections of buildings sit low on the horizon; a glass of complimentary champagne is stuffed in my hand when I check into Hotel Richter. My room! It has a fucking fresco on the ceiling! But within a day, the smoothness sours into homesick disorientation. In line for the bar one night, I watch a lethargic progression of gallery totes, screen-printed with Cyrillic sans-serif. Vacillating into and out of elation,Your Needturns out to be perfectly suited to my first trip to Russia. Grounded by slower moments like “LED” and “Why Love,” the albumflutters into occasional severity, recalling the coarse, foggy rhythms that magnetized me to January Sun.
Of course, it matters that I don’t speak any Russian. In my total alienation from lyrical meaning, Livanskiy’s songs come to me as pure structure—texture and affect and the granular nuances of each tiny build and fall, fully divorced from signification. I feel kind of icky and preposterous as I fumble towards interpretation, so it’ll suffice to offer a personal read, here. If January Sun scored a month of depressey self-searching, Your Need, released at the beginning of May, came right as the clouds began to clear, all while retaining a sense of the meticulous depth that made Kedrina’s early work so haunting.
Lawrence shows his movie one night at a cinema club that was founded by Sergei Eisenstein. Lights up after and it’s really well-received by a crowd comprised entirely of plausible Gosha models. An angelic blonde with pigtail braids is the first to find him in the front row, before most have risen from their seats. “It was so great! I loved it!” He thanks her warmly. She rushes out. I elbow him, giggling. “That,” I hazard through a dumb starstruck grin, “was Kedr Livanskiy.”
Later I fall into some party at Strelka, the architecture-school-cum-cultural-hub that’s hosting a NTS showcase sponsored by the British Embassy. Beatrice Dillon—another favorite from the Cult of Domesticity playlist, dedicated to Women in House, where Kedr takes up residence in my Spotify library—takes the stage. Dancing mechanically, I catch a glimpse of platinum in my peripheral. I ask my newish buddy, probably an appropriate source of journalistic guidance because he has a monthly Vice column, whether it would be bullshitty to approach her. It’s loud so I don’t really know how he answers.
I try to put it out of my mind. I keep grooving. Eventually, my dedication to hardcore reporting outweighs my sense of personal self-preservation, so I shuffle towards her and yell over the music.
—“Hey, I love your new album!”
Graciously, she smiles. Magnetic.
—“I’m writing a review for this online fashion magazine—want to talk to me about Your Need?”
—“What?”
Yelling now, I’m so hyper-conscious of my shrill American valley-girl affectation, I want to unzip my skin and leave my body on the dancefloor. Mortified, I still persist, pressing on in service of Journalism.
—“I’m writing about Your Need! Is there anything you want my readers to know?”
She’s stilted, no recognition.
—“Uhh….. maybe later.”
Is that a scoop? Whatever. I still give this album five stars.

What Is Magnetic Flow Meter As Well As Aspects To Consider When Buying?
Tumblr media
Industrial flow meter is a device used for gauging the flow of any kind of liquid. Nevertheless, it is not appropriate for distilled or drinking water, hydro carbons and a series of non-aqueous options. This is a basic one line interpretation of magnetic flow meter, however exactly what it is and also how is it various from others need to be evaluated comprehensive. Thus, in this article, we will be concentrating on what a ultrasonic flow meter China is, we will certainly likewise take a look at a few of the significant factors that should take in respect before buying them.
Just What is Magnetic Flow Meter?
When we speak about wastewater application, it is necessary to also discuss magnetic flow meter due to the fact that this tool is suitable for almost every wastewater application. However, this is not the only way in which a magnetic flow meter works. The application likewise involves the use for low stress or drop maintenance. You can acquire flow meter from ultrasonic flow meter for sale. They offer flowmeters for sale.
Since the principle behind this device is Faraday's law, the measurements are not just reliable but also very precise and also accurate. This is just one of the reasons people choose magnetic meters as opposed to any type of other, in spite of the total cost that one may have to bare while period when you have it mounted. Magnetic flow meters need support, and not simply for the very first time when they are being mounted, however also afterwards. Nonetheless, it's all worth the initiative and also money when you get the perfect outcomes.
There are a variety of features due to which magnetic flow meters stick out. Several of them can be defined as: it is very easy to utilize and also maintain, aside from measurements it allows you to inspect a few other parameters too such as fluid pressure, density, temperature, speed distribution and a few other, and also it likewise have a self examination feature.
Factors to Think About Before Acquiring:
You will find a number of points to bear in mind prior to deciding of acquiring magnetic flow meters. To determine which one will certainly fit your needs as well as will certainly also be in your spending plan, keep in mind the adhering to tips:
Chemical Compatibility Inspect: while industrial flow meter ideal for various chemicals, there still are a number of them which could not compliment the process. Hence, prior to completing your flow meter, you need to have a chemical compatibility check and also see if the chemicals that you are making use of go with the magnetic flow meter or otherwise.
Lifetime Expense: as mentioned previously, magnetic flow meters have more than simply the setup cost. It depends upon which one are you selecting, whichever it is, you need to find out the life time expense of the magnetic flow meter so that you can determine which one will be suitable for your situation.
Check for Evaluations: Internet has always been our good friend and so we need to utilize it the right way. Before finalizing your magnetic flow meter, checked out evaluations as well as see if the business that you are going with and the type of magnetic flow meter that you have selected has been handy in the past to others too.

Electromagnetic Flow Meters Advantages
Electromagnetic flow meters are used to measure the volume flow of conductive liquids and are obstruction-free, uni- or bi-directional volumetric flow meter. They are based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, which states that a conductive fluid will generate an electric signal within a conductor as it moves through a magnetic field that is directly proportional to the process fluid's flow rate in the magnetic field.
Mag meters are widely used in a variety of industries and commercial applications due to their many benefits, such as measuring the amount of liquid, gas, or vapor that travels through flowmeters and calculating the total volume of fluid that has been processed by the device. The advantages of electromagnetic flow meters include water and magnetic flow meters in virtually every business. Mag meters are used to accurately detect liquids of all kinds and concentrations, and have a good accuracy rate.

Choosing Water Flow Meters
Tumblr media
Water flow meters are gadgets that gauge the quantity of water flowing via a pipe or various other system. They give important visibility into what's moving where as well as how much in order to maintain systems operating effectively. Read more great facts on magnetic flow meters, click here. There are several kinds of water circulation meters to choose from, each with their own distinct advantages as well as applications. For more useful reference regarding digital flow meter have a peek here. Knowing which one is best for your particular application can assist you figure out the most effective choice for your needs as well as budget plan. There are four key sorts of water circulation meters to pick from: favorable displacement, turbine, ultrasonic, as well as magnetic. Each kind makes use of a different technique to gauge circulation. Favorable variation meters make use of a wheel or equipment that rotates as the fluid travels through it. This develops a price symmetrical to the liquid's circulation price, which is then exchanged volumetric flow. This type of meter is perfect for applications with reduced flow prices, as they call for less maintenance than various other types. Turbine flow meters use the same idea, but with a difference: these meters reroute water into an interior propeller and gauge how fast it spins. These meters are excellent for in-line piping installment as well as are a great suitable for tidy water applications that do not need to operate at high or huge circulation prices. An additional circulation meter modern technology that doesn't include moving parts is electro-magnetic, or electrostatic, flow meters. These meters procedure liquid speed by using Faraday's Legislation of Electromagnetic Induction, which mentions that when liquid go through a magnetic field, it creates a voltage. This method is great for gauging liquids that are really conductive, such as drinking water or wastewater, because it eliminates the requirement to fret about any particulates in the media being measured. These meters also have vast turndowns as well as are compatible with harsh chemicals, making them a wonderful choice for industrial applications. Other usual circulation meter modern technologies that do not use any relocating components consist of ultrasonic, vortex, and also Coriolis circulation meters. These modern technologies are additionally ideal for sanitary as well as food applications, as they don't call for any type of components that will be damaged by unclean fluids or chemicals. An electronic screen is the best method to show water circulation rates as well as meter functions in real-time. These display screens can be found on every one of the significant water circulation meters and also come in a range of styles as well as sizes to fulfill your requirements. Some of these displays can be reviewed in-place as well as supply a simple recurring price of flow while others can show advanced meter functions such as totalizing or batching. These options can vary in their presence and also performance, so it is necessary to make certain that the display screen you choose will be readable at the area of installment if it is being used for in-place analysis. One of the most crucial element to think about when choosing a circulation meter is the accuracy of the readings it creates. The more exact the analyses are, the more valuable the meter will certainly be to your organization. Please view this site https://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-Peak-Flow-Meter for further details.
