for anon! i took inspiration from the medical transitioning flag and added colors from the opposite side of the color wheel, representing combining 'opposing' traits. the term is 'confus' from 'confusing' + 'transitional'!

🏳️⚧️Attention Trans People🏳️⚧️
If you are interested in medically transitioning I'm fucking begging you to do it now. Please do not wait. Remove everything in your way of getting what you want. This is something I desperately want to scream at my 21 yr old self. I could have transitioned so much sooner if I had just picked up the phone and called the place my therapist, my friends and my college all told me to go to. If I had just stopped spending my money on drugs that made me forget I had a body I could have been changing my body to be what I wanted all this time. YOU CAN DO THIS TRANS PEOPLE!!! It does not matter the obstacles in your way, if you want this??? it is you who has to figure it out. I FUCKING BELIEVE IN YOU.
I once met a trans woman who transitioned in the 80s. She went to a different country and got her surgeries done there and then came back to the country she was born in with her new body. She saved up for the surgery, the plane ticket and her recovery time. She did the research through word of mouth and libraries!! SHE TRAVELED BACK HERE AFTER GETTING FACIAL FEMINIZATION AND BOTTOM SURGERY. WHAT A BADASS WOMEN. YOU ARE ALL STRONG COOL POWERFUL INDIVIDUALS WHO DESERVES WHAT YOU WANT!!!! PLEASE TAKE IT!!! TAKE IT AND WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE. and I swear to the fucking Gods if you truly believe there are too many obstacles and you can't do it. I want you to look the kid you were in the fucking face and reconsider. You deserve the body you want. THAT LITTLE KID YOU WERE DESERVES TO HAVE THE LIFE THEY WANT! It is within your grasp no matter how impossible it seems. You CAN do this. No matter how hard it is.

TO THOSE WHO HAVE A FEAR OF NEEDLES AND NEED THEIR HRT DONE VIA NEEDLE INJECTIONS
Please invest in an auto injector!
I just used mine for the first time a few minutes ago, and it's a godsend
I don't really have a phobia of needles, but I do faint if I see them in my skin. And this thing fully hides the needle.

Was not planning on being on T forever, when I started nearly a year and a half ago the long term plan was approx 5 years but now it's like, however long I can be on it before I HAVE to get a hysterectomy (I've seen ppl be on T between 5 and 15 years before they needed one). Bcs I really don't want a hysterectomy bcs I don't trust the supply of hormones and quality off trans healthcare to be okay w taking hormones my entire life bcs probably at some point I'd have to take estrogen (☹️) [disclaimer that this is just my opinion on my body each to their own] and I knew ur physical changes like fat redistribution changes back but all the men in my family are wide hipped so I thought as long as I'd got top surgery by then it wouldn't be toooo much of a problem but now I've heard MULTIPLE accounts of ppl saying all their other changes reverse when they go off T including their voice 😵😦 what the hell!! I am taking Topical Estrogen Cream so testosterone doesn't kill my uterus and I shouldn't need to get a hysto but I am sooo perturbed that these changes aren't gonna be permanent. Apparently ppl who've been on hormones for a longer time are more likely to keep their changes stay but ... man. I don't want my changes to reverse but I am a bit scared of the thought of having to be on hormones forever like I want to want to be on hormones forever not be required too raaah

It's honestly crazy that discussion around testosterone HRT skews so much towards the beginning stages of it (to the point that you have dozens of guys thinking their transition is "failed" if they don't pass by like a year in lol) and what the initial changes of the first couple of months to years look like, like the classic laundry list of those early basic changes like bottom growth, voice drop, etc, when IMO literally none of that compares remotely to the depth and intensity of the long term total masculinization you start to experience like 3-5+ years in.
#also has made it increasingly difficult to relate to those early into their transition honestly#like not in a bitter way it’s just like hard to express how diff the experience is#of being like a year on T vs 5 😭#ETA I muted this post ages ago now but fwiw seeing transphobes pop up in the notes on occasion just to say cruel reactionary shit#you are clowns I cannot imagine seeing a post that is ONLY about discussing with folks about the reality of a medication#and choosing to make that your moment to get a schoolyard bully jab in about how you find it gross or something.#you are less well adjusted than most children. may the universe be kinder to you than you are to others.

transsexual is not an old fashioned or outdated term. transsexual is not a term only used by transmedicalists, truscum and transphobic trans people. you do not have to like or use the term transsexual for yourself and no one is forcing you to, however you do have to be normal about other people using the term transsexual to describe themselves and their experiences.
people still use the term transsexual, transsexual is a term steeped in trans history and trans liberation because transness is not just about the gender binary but also about the sex binary. for many people transness is inherently related to their sex and they are trying to change their sex. sex is not an irrefutable, immutable fact and the sooner people accept that the sooner trans, nonbinary and intersex liberation becomes a possibility. I hate the sentiment that gender is a changeable social construct and sex is a biological fact because sex is also a changeable social construct.
stop buying into t_rf and transphobic rhetoric about sex.

The fact that leagues of smart and rational trans adults who are informed about the evidence base for puberty blockers wish they could’ve taken them in their youth seems to me pretty darn conclusive evidence that the balance of risk and benefit is favourable.

In light of recent discourse I have seen around the topic of medical transition, HRT, and being transgender, I feel like I should remind some folks: nonbinary folks, agender folks, gender fluid folks, etc, receive medical HRT and surgical treatments, too. Those things aren’t reserved for binary trans folk, and pretending they are erases a large chunk of nonbinary folks.
HRT is for folks of all genders, not just binary trans men & women.
And not all nonbinary folks are fem presenting/androgynous presenting female assigned folks. Each of us looks different, each of us has a different transition story and journey.
We’re an important part of the community, and excluding us and our experiences and voices isn’t OK.

Hi Miss Thorn.
I was recently reading through your trans writes article about you choosing not to do PR for the NHS. In one line you mention that the medical system "exaggerates or wholly confabulates" certain medical risks, and I was wondering if you could give more of an explanation or some examples about that stuff. I tried looking it up on my own but I didn't really know what keywords to search for, and I don't want to fall into some weird anti-science conspiracy theory rabbithole (especially at a kind of vulnerable part of my transition where I'm finally giving "doing hormones" more serious thought as a Thing I Would Actually Do rather than an idle fantasy where the results magically "fix" me (or a kind of anxiety where it doesn't do anything of value at all :< )
Thank you regardless for your great videos over the years,
A Very Nervous Enby
Sure! So, I would argue that the Cass Review is a prime example of this phenomenon. It concluded that puberty blockers have caused zero documented cases of harm as long as they've been used in Britain, but they might cause some unknown kind of harm in the future, somehow; a harm that hasn't been detected in any of the other countries who have used them, whose evidence - by the way - was discarded.
So we have no evidence of past harm, no idea what a future mystery harm might be, when it might happen, the mechanism for it, or why it would only show up here, now, and not in any of the other countries who have given trans kids blockers previously...
This is clearly making shit up!
And yet the Cass Review was used to justify a ban on blockers.
The only way this makes sense is if by "harm" they mean "being trans." Cass expressed particular concern that most kids who start on blockers go on to medically transition, which - yeah duh? But whereas a normal person views this as a neutral fact about the world, transphobes see it as bad - they see being trans as a bad or dangerous thing to be - and so they want to make people "avoid it" as much as possible.
This is what I mean when I say pathologization exaggerates or in some cases outright fabricates risks of medical transition to justify restricting our bodily autonomy under the guise of "care."
#cass review#trans#this is of course consistent with the fact that medical transition does involve some actual risks

just gotta say that I'm not particularly fond of "non transitioning" being used specifically to mean "non medically transitioning"
like I don't think most ppl mean harm by it, and it's not a huge grievance but, also not entirely inconsequential
#like this is both smth I've seen from other non medically transitioning ppl and ppl talking abt us#and like maybe some of us haven't transitioned at all#but I have!#meat.txt

The Australia government is currently asking people to complete this survey in favour of Medicare paying for gender affirming surgeries. The survey is open until the 14th of Feb 2025. And I wanted to ask if you’d share the link
https://www.msac.gov.au/applications/1754
This is a link of suggested things to focus on in your survey responses https://auspath.org.au/2025/01/21/msac-1754-survey-guide/
Thank you if you do choose to share it!
yooo hey thanks for this, this is fucking awesome!!!!
https://www.msac.gov.au/applications/1754
if possible, do what you can to spread the word about this even if you aren't Australian! i hope we can make a change for people to get affordable gender affirming care, that would be amazing!
