Imagine being such a hate-twisted pile of vices stacked in a trench coat pretending to be the epitome of Catholic masculinity and faith that THE POPE, THE HOLY FATHER, THE VICAR OF CHRIST HIMSELF writes a scathing letter to every single US bishop (and, by the nature of papal letters being made public, all of the church and the world) explaining in detail how your actions are contrary to the Church and the Scriptures. And in this letter he lays out in detail how the soul you have lashed to the golden calf of Trump and Christian Nationalism has been led so far astray into the domain of Mammon that you are directly responsible for atrocities condemned BY THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE CHURCH. Then he calls you out directly to rebuke you by quoting the theological concept you MISQUOTED AND MISUSED from St Augustine and CORRECTING YOUR BAD INTERPRETATION HIMSELF before ending with an invocation of La Virgen Morena, Our Lady of Guadalupe, to protect those who are being harmed by the horrible actions of you and the fascist administration you serve.
And then imagine having the nerve to carry on with hate in your heart and the arrogance of Jonah anyway.
May God have mercy on JD Vance but more importantly may God have mercy on the millions of people he and our government are harming.

And... I made an Emily redesign too...... *sniff sob /j* it's not final (like all my redesigns) I'm just trying get better at this design stuff and where better to do it except my current fixation ehhh?????
Long Emily design explanation/rant thing ignore it probably but pls dotn im desperate: I wanted to make her more round and soft cuzzz I love those typa designs I'm just a sucker for circle characters. Made her actually black and not fuckin gray cuz its a transformation to look more human and gentle(for me they go between two forms, their true ones that we see the first time we see them snd their human/softer ones if they ever interact with actual humans which... they usually dont.) Not a demon form tfff. In this version I wanted to put Emily in animal inspired features like... the sheep nose, ears, and hooves. Because she and Sera know that humans and about all beings love animals. Birds have sharp features mostly so they don't look as welcoming as they want to seem. I wanted Emily to look sheep likes and pretty much all the seraphim look more sheep like to make Lucifer stand out as the only one who was symbolized as a snake/goat(still don't know if I'll make him goat or make Lillith goat. I'll decide when I get there lmao). Justtt overalll wanted Emily to look more round, welcoming, and cute. I kept the freckles lighter than her skin color(even tho that's SUPER not accurate to what actually black people look like with freckles but whatevr) because it reminded me of fawns and.... sure Emily is a sheep but I still wanted to incorporate other cute animal traits with her cyz y not.

Manwe's relationship with Melkor is by no means cut and dry but like. Manwe was head of the 'Let Melkor fuck around and brutalize and enslave people for centuries as long as he stays off our lawn' committee. That's going to make it hard for people to really buy that Manwe has a hardline attitude towards his brother.
Note: I am making my own post specifically to minimize yucking others' yum. Please extend the same courtesy to me.

i agree the gods care about the mortals but that's pretty much it really. it stopped at caring.
when the dawnfather explicitly mentioned he knew what asmodeus was going to do when sarenrae reached out to him i.e. massacre her entire followers? and he didn't prevent it from happening because he felt his kin deserved to try anyway? so let her?
what does it tell you about the gods, that one of theirs that was the most vocal about caring for mortals/their children felt that a massacre was justifiable enough to let happen simply because it would prove a point among themselves that another one of theirs is good and kind and brave to attempt the impossible.
Tumblr media
and the dawnfather knew damn well it was impossible.

Saw a post from a "Christian" today about how non-Christian societies [used to/still] leave disabled babies to die but Christians didn't and saved them, etc etc
No specifics, no sources, no facts, just self-congratulating drivel about how much morally better they claim to be.
Meanwhile, it's the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, one of the many Holocaust camps, which targeted disabled people as well as Jews and Romani and queer people. Camps which were conceived of and run by people calling themselves Christians.
Meanwhile, Trump just shut down CDC and NIH grants, communications, and cooperation with international health agencies. The man people calling themselves "Christians" voted for.
And every single time I bring this shit up, "Christians" crawl out of the woodwork to tell me that oh, THOSE people who did bad things weren't REAL Christians, and oh, they themselves didn't vote for Trump because of XYZ, they just really believed in [insert psuedo-Biblical reason here]
The blatant hypocrisy of the people who claim to be my spiritual brothers and sisters, who mallet other people over the head with their version of Jesus while spitting on everything he actually preached, all the while yucking it up about how uniquely wonderful they are, makes me sick and sad and furious.

The Philosophy of Compassion
The philosophy of compassion explores the ethical, metaphysical, and existential significance of our ability to empathize with the suffering of others. Across cultures and traditions, compassion is regarded as a core virtue—a bridge between self and other, rooted in shared vulnerability and moral concern.
Core Themes in the Philosophy of Compassion:
1. Ethical Foundation
Compassion is central to many ethical systems:
In Buddhist philosophy, compassion (karuṇā) is one of the Four Immeasurables and a path to enlightenment.
In Christian ethics, compassion mirrors divine love and is embodied in the idea of agape—selfless love.
Utilitarian thinkers like Peter Singer argue for effective altruism, where compassion must be rationally directed to maximize well-being.
Here, compassion functions as both motive and guide, directing moral action and shaping how we respond to injustice, pain, and inequality.
2. Metaphysical Interconnectedness
Compassion implies a non-dualistic view of human existence. We suffer with others because we recognize our shared nature. In this sense, compassion reflects a relational ontology: the self is not isolated but fundamentally connected to others.
3. Compassion vs. Pity
Philosophically, compassion is distinct from pity. Pity can be hierarchical or distancing; compassion involves empathy, humility, and action. The Stoics, for example, warned against excessive emotional reaction but made room for sympatheia, or shared human feeling.
4. Schopenhauer and Existential Compassion
Arthur Schopenhauer, a rare Western philosopher who centered compassion, argued it is the only true moral motive. Because life is defined by suffering, ethics must emerge from the ability to identify with that suffering in others.
5. Compassion and Justice
There is a tension between compassion and justice: compassion is individual and emotional; justice is systemic and impersonal. Some philosophers argue for balancing both—ensuring empathy doesn’t override fairness, but also that justice is not stripped of humanity.
Summary:
The philosophy of compassion frames it as a moral intuition, existential truth, and social necessity. It asks us to see beyond the self, to acknowledge shared vulnerability, and to act with care. Whether as a spiritual path, a political ethic, or a personal virtue, compassion challenges the ego and expands the boundaries of moral concern.
