I can't imagine someone not catching on the queer coding of Mike's character, it's been there since day 1

-Troy bullying Will for being gay> he's saying directly to Mike's face

-Troy bullying Will for being gay AGAIN> he's saying DIRECTLY TO MIKE'S FACE and Mike pushes him to the ground this time

-Mike being the one who's framed as being the most affected by Will's death> fighting with El bc she "lied" about Will being alive, then he bikes alone to his house (where there was supposed to have a scene of him crying while biking home bu they left it out) then he gets home and start crying in his mom's arm

-The scene where he is hiding El in his house and his mom starts talking to him and says something along the lines of: "all of this that has been going on WITH WILL, i can't imagine what that must be like FOR YOU, i want you to feel like you can't talk to me, feel like you DON'T NEED TO HIDE ANYTHING FROM ME" wich is super similar to Will's "coming out scene" to Jonathan in season 4

-wich is a scene that happens some time after Ted's "you see michael? you see what happens?"

-and OBVIOUSLY the fact that El looks like a boy. the so "romantic" Mike and El's relationship starts to develop while el was getting mistaken for a boy, and not just any boy, when people started describing her, hopper thought she was Will!!!!!!!

mike is MUCH more queercoded than will is insane, the proofs that we see about will's sexuality are much more solid but when it comes to mike's sexuality is just A BUNCH OF QUEER CODING

all the confirmation I need about byler being endgame is noah saying his favorite scene with finn is in s5 hello??????? do you really think he was gonna say that if s5 had a scene with Mike rejecting will or something like that? also noah saying that "finally something went right for will" how could this means anything besides byler??

pardon my addition, but the way i see it in canon, he still is!

when will recognized dart, mike asked him what was wrong and then vigorously made his point for him. when will felt the mindflayer activate in the sauna test, it's mike who tells max to get away from the door.

i think there's a good case to be made that this is a canon fact about their dynamic. people will listen to mike and mike will listen to will and will trusts in that for most of their friendship.

do you know that quiet kid experience of finally speaking up while in a group except you suddenly don't know what to do about eye contact so you always end up looking at only one particular person who you know will stop and listen to you, and then they do it with such attentiveness and authority that everyone else stops to listen as well. because i think that when they first started hanging out with lucas and dustin, mike would have been that person to will.

Quick analysis as I work on my 'Supernatural Byler post'

I've been knee-deep in Vecna's plan analysis and how MikeWill figures into it going into s5 and I wanted to share this small detail.

Mike said to Will "We're friends. We're friends." Because he interpreted this whole interaction as romantic on Will's side once Will asked "What about us?"

So when Will said ...

And Mike responded ....

He thought Will was implying 'You're not interested in US'

He got defensive again when Will mentioned the letters to Eleven???And then he wound down when Will said 'We used to be BEST FRIENDS'

That's IH for ya.

Will asking this ... it's like he saw right through Mike's bs omfg.

Taking into account the themes of this season, it almost feels like during the s3 and s4 gap, Mike and Will were ... playing chess??? Both of them trying to subtly get closer without overstepping in case the other didn't feel the same way and it was all in their head ...?

What in the world happened during those two phone calls they had?? Did Mike 'make his move' during one of those phone calls and he was expecting Will's action next, but a) Will never called him and b) Will's painting WAS Will's action, but then it all got screwed up when Mike thought Will was painting for a girl??

Maybe Will thought they had some unspoken agreement that Mike would be the one initiating phone calls, so he figured making a painting would be his 'action'.

Ensue miscommunication chaos, it was bound to happen.
