Hello! I’ve read all your series about the godly parents (loved all of them!) and I just wanted to ask, what would it be like for a child of Selene or Helios to exist? I’d imagine it would only be to keep the two titans alive, as maybe the children would live to give offerings to their parents and to honor them, keeping the two gods from permanently fading. I’m not sure entirely sure tho

Idk if you would want to do this request/ask, but if you did, you don’t have to do both titans if you don’t want to!!! Also, sorry if this doesn’t make much sense

I did think about either of them but just haven’t written it seriously yet due to the Trials of Apollo canon where Helios is technically ‘dead’ and returned to Chaos. I’d imagine Selene had the same fate to Helios and returned to Chaos before Helios but who knows. 

I might consider doing a later serious H/C for either or both of them someday so let’s give this a whirl. Let’s just ignore the canon for the Trials of Apollo of Helio’s fate or let’s just assume belief in Helios and Selene became renewed due to Apollo’s promise and effort, and became reborn in some way. Either way, both titans just exist for the sake of existing.

🌙 ◤S E L E N E ◢ 🌙 With Selene or Luna as her roman counterpart, there are still legacies of Luna, Ida for example, in the Trial of Apollos, so we can say she hasn’t completely faded out but isn’t relatively in the picture either.

There are beliefs that the Lunar Eclipses were caused by witches that brought down Selene with spells and invocations of magic. Though not necessary to bring down Selene, I find the idea that Selene exists still in the moon, just resting there as she is also considered the personification of the moon, and during the Lunar Eclipses, she descends down to Earth, and conceives a child along the way. In this manner, it makes sense on how there can be children of Selene/Luna or legacies of them. The times when there are Lunar Eclipses that appear over landmasses (and not over the ocean where they happen more frequently), are few and pair with Selene’s attraction to more specific individuals, supports the idea.

Also imagine worshiping her particularly on Lunar Eclipses helps strengthen her existence. So imagine having Lunar Eclipse parties that also act as a ritual and festival towards Selene. It doesn’t matter if the Lunar Eclipse doesn’t happen where they are, they’re going to celebrate it. 

Or just in general having Moon events; from the Harvest Moon festivals, Moon viewing parties, and etc. It is particularly popular among the huntresses of Artemis and the children of Hecate as it gives them a reason to celebrate the moon and their respective goddess due to the connection to the moon. There’s a bit of connecting and honour the moon and lunar goddesses as the days of past. I would like to think a child of Selene would have her personality or embody it someway. Not particularly ‘flashy’ and generally keeps to themselves, that are focused on their work, but their existence is there that your eyes will fall upon them. They’re also not as demure or of a pushover as people think because when push comes to shove, much like Selene continuing to drive her chariot across the sky during the Titanomachy, or even during the fight against Typhon, she kept on her course against him (thus the moon craters). All I can think of them being a literal moon child and they definitely inherited their mother’s personality;  demure  there’s going to be so many Sailor Moon references; particularly to Usagi and her powers. 

But also you know how weird it is to find out that the Nemean Lion, of all things, is a child of Selene. 

🌞 ◤ H E L I O S ◢ 🌞

For Helios, I’d imagine he still existed for a long while but simply because he was casted down in Tartarus, there are very little direct descendants, much less of the newer generation. However, I’d imagine approaching the 2nd Titan War, probably at minimum when Poseidon and Sally first met, to a little bit after the war, that’s when Helios’ form was more corporeal with a bit of astral projection shenanigans that allowed Helios demigods to be conceived. 

Helios is still a large human concept and with how much of his line still exists in history and mythology, so honouring him and still worshipping him isn’t hard. He is still a prevalent story in the stories of Hercules, Persephone, Odysseus, and etc. 

There was a time in the 4th century AD Helios’ worship and relevancy was brought back for a short moment by Roman Emperor Julian, so there’s a good chance that there are/were legacies of Helios in Camp Jupiter. His worship and existence is a bit more convoluted but it still holds up, but I’d imagine the Helios of this version would be different and be an off-shoot of the original Helios that eventually fades back into Chaos. 

I’d imagine the child of Helios being born or growing up around Rhode Island, just above New Long Island where Camp Half-blood is located because there’s a myth of Helios being gifted the Island of Rhode after the Titan War; so if the gods are located at the Empire State Building, then Helios would be located at Rhode Island. That or just being located there. 

As a child of Helios, It is really like being a child of Apollo but so much brighter/harsher. Helios is the titan god of the Sun, guardian of oaths, and the god of sight. His sun and light is much brighter but also harsher like the sun over a plain field, just below a harsh bright light (i.e. Hyperion), so a child of Helios’ light is bright, blinding, and painful that borders like the fire of a sunburn…but much more literally. 

Helios is a man of his word, much like Apollo as the god of truth, so a child of Helios is dedicated and honourable, but will finish the job one way another. As a god of sight, I’d imagine unlike a child of Apollo’s prophetic sight, they are more all seeing, they have clairvoyance or something of that note, where nothing under the sun can escape their sight. As long as it is underneath the light, it is revealed to them. 

The only exception is those under the domain of the night and shadows, i.e. the opposite of a child of Selene, where they can hide underneath the darkness like invisibility. 

Their personality, if I had to say, would be so positive and bright but its so dominant that it makes you wilt under it. Not necessarily a bad thing, but under the wrong circumstances, there is such of a thing of too much of a good thing being bad for you.

Okay light bulb moment

I was thinking about how earlier I felt like roadkill and then I ate and I was Semi okay. That made me be like "oh ig I was just hungry?"

But no actually???? I have the autism?????? And yeah the communication bit is the thing that pisses everyone off, but the more serious thing to me is the struggle to do self care/self care ish tasks.

Everyday I have to get up, take mu vitamins prepare three meals at least a day and wash dishes at least one and a half times. I have to keep track of any supplies including the littlest shit (like makes sure I have ice for my water. I will not drink it if it isn't ice cold) and thats just the stuff I need to like. Not die.

That's not including anything else I need to do like doctors appointments, grocery, making phone calls etc. Like I lit can't do that shit.

So back to feeling like crap earlier, I completely forgot thw way that ppl hold stress in their bodies. I was holding all that stress and when I canceled everything and ordered a pizza I felt less dead bc I literally didn't have to feel the pressure of preformjng today anymore.

I have,,,, so many other thoughts about like. The Implications of everything but for now I'm just going to sit here and spiral a bit bc!! I feel like I just discovered Atlantis
