Switch 2 Price: Objectively

Before I get started let me just say that I absolutely agree that $450 is a lot of money, not denying that one bit. Please do not be mean in the comments, I am mildly autistic and was abused as a child so I cry stupidly easy.

It goes without saying that some of this price has also been adjusted due to the new 24% tariffs on Japanese goods. (This has not been confirmed by Nintendo but it follows the market trend of companies passing those costs directly to consumers).

With that out of the way, lets look at the hardware specifications of the Switch 2 that have been confirmed by Nintendo and nvidia.

4k 120 FPS when docked

7.9" 1080p HDR LCD screen built in

DLSS, ray tracing, and g-sync support

256GB SSD storage

These specifications put the Switch 2 firmly above the capability of a PS4 in the form factor of what is essentially a tablet. The Switch 1 was about as capable as the PS3, which is also somewhat impressive for the formfactor. While we likely won't have actual benchmark tests until review units go out near launch, we can still see that the hardware is quite good based on the info we have. Now let's take a look devices with similar capability of Switch 2 that are currently available on the market.

PS5

The PS5 is a more powerful system than Switch 2 without a doubt with Sony originally toting 8k resolution support. However it is also a much larger device and is notoriously sold at a loss as has been the trend with all console manufacturers since the 1970s. The PS5 slim comes in at the same $450 as Switch 2 due to its lack of Bluray drive. It also cannot be played anywear other than your home unless you invest in the $200 Playstation Portal streaming handheld.

Xbox Series X/S

While the Xbox Series S comes in at $150 cheaper than the Switch 2, it has also been notoriously hard for developers to get their games running in 4k on the device and is widely considered a non option for others, with Microsoft having to wave certification requirements for certain games such as Baldur's Gate 3 in order for Larion Studios to even consider porting it to the Xbox.

These are also not a portable system and are likely to be discontinued soon due to Microsoft shifting focus away from console exclusivity and on to their GamePass streaming service.

Laptops

The lowest price I could find on a laptop that features similar performance to Switch 2 will cost you around $650. And while laptop PCs can do much more overall due to the nature of the Windows desktop environment, I'm looking at this from a purely gaming performance focus. These lower end devices often suffer from performance dips due to lack of proper cooling and the overhead of the OS as well.

Handhelds/Steamdeck likes

The Steam Deck is a pretty incredible value starting $400 with access to a vast amount of the Steam Library. However it struggles with running complex games in 4k and its ray tracing support is quite lacking as well, but to be fair the device was not really designed to do that. It also only has a 720p 60hz display and is quite a bit bulkier than the Switch. Steam Deck competitors such as the ROG Ally and Legion Go are a bit more capable, but have notoriously poor battery life and are much more expensive in the $700-800 range.

Switch 1

The Switch 2 is also bound to compete with the Switch 1 for sales due to pricing and availability in the first couple of years of its lifespan. While the system is 8 years old, it still has quite a vast amount of support from developers and publishers due to it having a great lifetime sales figure. It has unfortunately been notoriously under-powered since its initial launch in 2018 with developers often having to greatly pare down their games in order to get them running on the system and often releasing 1-2 years after they have already launched on other platforms. The system also hasn't dropped its price from $300 outside of rare holiday sales.

The extra power of the Switch 2 should allow for more games to run on the system at a much less compromised experience compared to PS5/PC ports.

TLDR; Yes $450 is expensive, but the cost of the hardware is a fair market price.

Hello! In this post I will share some tips I have to help you on your custom content making journey. These are more general rather than creating a specific item, but I may make another part in the future!

Things covered: learning curve of blender, free resources, learning your computer, using references

1️⃣ There’s no need to pay for anything

The only money I have spent on anything related to TS4/custom content is for some of the expansion packs. Every resource I have used I have only had to pay with time. Blender, Sims 4 Studio, and Sims 4 Tray Importer are all free! And for Photoshop, a good free alternative I use is Photopea, which is just a web version. Another good alternative is GIMP, which is an application. 

There are applications like Substance Painter and Marvelous Designer, but I would only recommend those if you have a genuine interest in 3D modeling outside of TS4.

And in terms of finding tutorials, scouring the internet will always lead to some result. A good tumblr page is @thefoxburyinstitute, which has many sections based on your level of experience. Adding “reddit” to the end of a search helps too!

2️⃣ You can export anything from Sims 4 Studio as a reference (mod or EA object)

For an EA item, In S4S, go to Tools -> Browse Game Content -> then select the category you need a ref. If it’s a mod, click on My Projects and find the package you want.

From here, you can export the mesh, images, or any textures you need without having to create a new package for it! Best used when you have already created your own package and just need one aspect of the object.

If you want to append in Blender, go to File -> Append (works with any .blend file exported from S4S), then find the location of whatever you exported. Go to the Object folder, find anything labeled s4studio_mesh_number, then append. I just append all of them, then delete ones I don’t need.

Also, in the Scene tab, make sure the cut box is blank for the reference you imported! S4S will confuse this with your mesh if not, as the cut number determines which mesh will replace the EA one.

3️⃣ File management is important!

The more you create, the more random things you’ll download on your computer. You need to be aware of where you’re downloading things from, duplicate files, how much storage it’s taking up, etc. I recommend the Sims 4 Mod Manager by GameTime. Back up your files often and learn how your computer works because every device is different! Below is how I organize my CC (could use some improvement), but use whatever keeps you organized.

4️⃣ Learn Blender outside of Sims 4 CC

There have been so many times when I’m so frustrated about Blender that I have to take a step back and focus on a different hobby. The first time that happened years ago, I decided to learn how to make simple models in Blender, and not only did I enjoy it, but I also learned so much that can be applied to CC! Below are some tutorials that I watched.

Okay I know the 5 hours is daunting, but only (lol) the first 2 hours are Blender. This video goes more into the technological aspect and making models optimized for video games/web (ahem TS4). After the 2-hour mark, it's all coding, which is not needed for CC making.

5️⃣ It takes time/consistency

As a person who only makes CC once every other month or so, it’s mostly muscle memory and consistent practice that makes someone feel confident in their CC making abilities. Remember how as a kid typing was the slowest thing ever, and today you’re (hopefully) better? It’s cause you kept practicing over a long period of time. 

The first time I opened Blender to make poses was in 2021, and 4 years later, there’s so much that I have learned from others, and 10x more that I don’t know due to the endless possibilities of what can be created. But hey, I’m confident enough that I made this post of tips, right? Take small steps, the end goal is to make something you or others enjoy.

Ioun Kineticist (Kineticist Archetype)

Anyone remember that scene where Magneto busted himself out of a plastic prison in X2: X-Men United with a trio of iron spheres? Because that scene lives rent-free in my head.

Perhaps one of the classic sub-tropes of telekinetic powers is the character that carries around a handful of special objects that they like to move around almost exclusively? These objects typically orbit the character when in use and simultaneously serve as a form of defense, but also can be launched out as projectiles before being pulled back into orbit. Well, that’s more or less what we’re dealing with today, but it gets a bit more interesting since the object in question is the classic orbiting magic item, the ioun stone! (or, well, Aeon stone now if we’re going with the updated lore of Starfinder and Pathfinder 2E).

Ioun/Aeon stones were, in the Lost Omens setting, an invention of the Azlanti, who discovered all sorts of wondrous uses for these magically-charged gemstones, which could provide passive powers, but also more advanced resonant powers as well if plugged into the right device, to say nothing of how they tend to power all sorts of strange wonders.

It only makes sense that there would be those that wish to study them deeply, and in the case of those with telekinetic powers, utilize them in their arts. Simply put, these kineticists learn how to unlock the true power of these stones while also using them as weapons and defense.

It's a pity we probably won't see any version of this archetype return since the 2e version of the kineticist lacks the aether element.

As suggested, these kineticists by necessity are linked to the element of aether. However, their focus on manipulating ioun stones means that they lack some of the more force-based talent choices, instead focusing on more crystalline components, allowing them to spin their stones in a deadly whirlwind, gather them up into an explosive ball projectile, grow jagged crystals from their bodies, or even infuse their stone with properties to pierce the resistances of certain foes.

They also start with a trio of dull gray stones bonded to them. Able to do little more than hover around their owner, these stone nevertheless make good projectiles. However, these mystics can replace these dull gray stones with functional stone by bonding with them, and eventually have more than three stones bonded in this way, though they still can have more non-bonded stones orbiting them and providing benefits.

Their basic kinesis allows them to stow or retrieve their stones from storage en masse with ease, as well as channel their arcane power to enact simple magical effects.

Rather than build up a buffer in their own body, these kineticists instead store the reserved energy within their stones and spend it when needed. However, they can also choose to sacrifice the stone invested with their energy to gain even more fuel for their more powerful talents at the cost of burning out the stone, rendering it an inert dull gray stone. The more valuable the stone, the greater the energy.

As they accept burn, these kineticists also begin to resonate with their stones rather than grow in personal power. The greater the burn, the more of the resonant abilities of their stones they can activate and draw upon at once. What’s more, for stone that normally provide a bolstering to body and mind, they can forgo the normal resonant ability in favor of getting a bigger boost from them, though only one at once.

Finally, it’s worth noting that these kineticists do not learn to strike foes with pure force when they learn deeper secrets of the Aether. Instead, they learn the “Azlanti” composite blast, an improved version of their telekinetic blast that draws upon the power and knowledge of the Azlanti civilization to increase the speed and power of their projectile stones.

With the nature of this archetype, it’s clear that it is meant to be supplemented with most of your character’s wealth being focused on buying more ioun stones. The tricky part about that being that ioun stones are always more expensive than most items that provide a similar bonus since they don’t have an item slot or upper limit on the number of stone you can have orbiting you (though obviously many have effects that don’t stack or provide additional benefit. Also consider what stones you want to be bonded with, since that will determine what resonant powers you have access to later in the day. As for the build itself, I recommend one focused on equal parts blasting offense and defense.

While the ioun/aeon stones are heavily connected to their creators, the Azlanti in Pathfinder’s core setting, in other settings the lore may be very different, but no less worthy of exploration. Perhaps the stones are naturally occurring but need to be “crafted” to bring out their magic, or they might be magic crystallized in specific processes. No matter their origins, however, researching these stones can prove a good basis for any hero, and make for a kineticist that is much more intellectual about their powers even as they continue to channel them through their body.

The party is chasing the villain downriver, but it feels like they’re not making any progress, that is until they are met by a taniwha, a magical serpent that tastes magic. The poor creature is wary due to its injuries, but it did bite the man who wounded it, the man surrounded by floating stone, their quarry.

They say that the mountain of Pojun is riddled with caves that are filled with the God’s Blood crystals from which aeon stones can be made, but the surrounding jungle prevents it’s exploitation by those who would mine them, and the grippli guardians who wield the stones in a glittering whirlwind of death prevent the jungle from being harmed.

It is said that the wizard Ioun invented his namesake stones, but he was inspired by a magical crystal found in some cavern lost to time. This gem, the True Heartstone, was said to grant great power to the one who proved worthy of wielding it. Many who study the stones consider it a myth, but the dream of finding it lives on.

While young Raf was recovering, one of the screen’s suddenly sounded an alarm as dozens upon dozens of ground bridges opened up across the continent. They only stayed open for a few seconds—but it was enough to sense dozens upon dozens of spark signals exiting the portals. The Autobots saw one open up in their own groundbridge bay, every cybertronian there tensed expecting a swarm of Vehicons.

A strange mobile medical berth rushed forward forcing Bulkhead to catch it and make sure the unfamiliar mech on it didn’t tip onto the floor. Following him was a strange spherical storage device leaking grey sealant. The groundbridge closed shortly after as Ratchet rushed over to the medical berth. It had obviously been shabbily modified to become mobile.

Optimus cautiously approached the storage capsule weapon still drawn in case it happened to be an explosive. Yet the Matrix was reacting wildly to what was contained within so an object of harm might be unlikely… What lay within were three ancient looking energon daggers. All three were wrapped in inner panel mesh to keep them from breaking. There was a legible if rushed message scratched into the inside in English.

‘Omega Key pieces 3/4. Check in Smokescreen. Don’t let Megatron get these ever.’

Knockout sped out of the groundbridge in his alt-mode, Breakdown situated on a medical berth turned trailer. Starscream flew out of the bridge as it flickered closed then elevated so he didn’t take a nosedive into the road. Hamas has constructed an extensive network of underground tunnels to gain protection for terrorists, to move fighters and equipment, to store weapons, to house command and control facilities, as well as to launch attacks and carry out ambushes. Some of these tunnels have been fitted with heavy blast doors to afford greater protection and frustrate assaulting troops. They are booby-trapped and rigged with explosives, early-warning devices and surveillance cameras. I have been into the tunnels during this conflict and can confirm that this network adds exponentially to the already immense challenges of fighting in urban areas, recognized by military professionals as perhaps the most demanding of all battle environments. Indeed, I am not aware of any comparable purposely built underground complex that any armed forces have had to tackle in any other conflict.

Hamas’s tactics are based on the exploitation of the civilian population of Gaza. Their above-ground infrastructure utilizes protected locations, including a large number of schools, hospitals and mosques for weapons storage, fighting positions, and tunnel access and egress. They have similarly used office and commercial facilities, shops and residential buildings. I have been briefed by combat troops on the ground that in some areas as much as every house and in other areas every other house contains elements of terrorist infrastructure; and I have been shown, for example, children’s bedrooms used to store grenades, anti-tank missiles and other munitions.

In addition to all this, Hamas is holding a large number of hostages in the Gaza Strip, which adds significant complications as the IDF seeks to find and rescue them and to avoid inadvertently killing them. Hamas has used the presence of their captives, including simulated and recorded hostage voices and related markings, to lure IDF soldiers into ambushes. Along with the tunnels, this adds yet another unique dimension to this conflict.

No place devoid of terrorists, munitions

This daunting combination of concurrent and conflicting challenges, coupled with the fact that Hamas systematically uses Gazans as human shields, and operates within and beneath civilian infrastructure, means that it is literally not possible to achieve the objectives of defeating Hamas and rescuing the hostages without the tragic consequence of civilian casualties and the regrettable destruction of civilian property from both ground and air. No army in the world would be able to do so, no matter what tactics they employed, and indeed no other army has ever done so in any comparable conflict.

Furthermore, Hamas’s form of operations—most of which directly and intentionally contravene the laws of armed conflict—also explain the necessity for the IDF to act with immense combat power when required and to operate with force across all areas of Gaza. No place in the Strip is devoid of terrorists and their munitions unless and until the IDF has cleared and secured them.

Special Containment Procedures: Under no circumstances is Mobile Task Force Dionysus-3 “The Party Package” allowed to have an intact SCP-APP instance be taken into Foundation custody, they must all be destroyed. The recovered pieces of SCP-APP instances are to be placed in the anomalous technology storage unit at Site-AA. All data chips and recording devices must be scrubbed and have their data cataloged immediately to obtain information on Group of Interest: Harmony Toys and prevent them from having information on us. 

Afterwards testing with any retrieved pieces of SCP-APP instances is allowed to be conducted by any Foundation Staff of Level 2 Clearance or higher. Under no circumstances are pieces of SCP-APP allowed to be used to improve Foundation technology, especially AFA units. Any attempt to do so will lead to immediate extermination of that staff member, there will be no exceptions. 

Description: SCP-APP is the newest in both entertainment and defensive security created by Group of Interest: Harmony Toys. SCP-APP takes on an upgraded version of SCP-AIL, quite similar to SCP-ALV being an upgrade to SCP-AIF, and SCP-ANX being an upgraded and more obedient and mass-produced version of SCP-AIA. SCP-APP in particular was not made in order to obtain more kills and by extension souls for the Group of Interest. Instead its existence is focused entirely on defending establishments, mainly their largest establishment the Harmony Arcadia. 

Each SCP-APP instance is given Kevlar armor forged in a state of the art resin plating making common bullets bounce off of them like rubber, even Foundation bullets only leave dents on the armor. Every instance possesses a computer brain within the head of the doll connected to camera’s hidden in the eyes. They use this to find criminals, GOC agents, Foundation agents, Fazbear Entertainment Spies, and anyone else who the Group of Interest Recognizes as enemies. Then there is their most dangerous trait in that they have spring-like limbs manipulated through magnetic wavelengths generated in the torso of the doll. The wavelengths are able to manipulate the arms to be able to bend in any way like a normal arm, stretch out and grab any target about 15 meters, punch them with enough force to rip a human head off, and even with enough strength to lift the body of the doll in the air. 

Normally an anomaly like SCP-APP wouldn’t be considered anomalous as it is based in technology that’s perfectly possible to make. Or at least that would be so for the Foundation or the GOC, not a civilian company who made it in 1994 which was the same time it was discovered. Unlike other toys and products from Group of Interest: Harmony Toys, SCP-APP was not immediately sold out but kept as a security force for all establishments. This action greatly confused the Foundation as Harmony Toys even after its rebrand was known for being aggressive and ruthless in its attacks yet now it was being defensive. 

Unfortunately not only has it changed tactics but has somehow regained the faith of the public due to Author Greywinder’s miraculous recovery and him being supposedly responsible for saving the unfortunate victims of the original M&A Harmony Toy murders conducted by Martin Greywinder. However, Author Greywinder and these victims came back home severely disfigured and had to have both plastic surgery as well as wear augmentations to appear somewhat normal. It has been theorized that Author Greywinder is actually dead and that it's Martin Greywinder that’s wearing his skin in order to win the favor of the public since Arthur was always the favored of the two. If this is true then that means that most certainly the other victims are possibly anomalies as well wearing human skin and are most certainly a part of something much bigger Harmony Toys has planned. Though because of SCP-APP, finding out what that plan is has proven nearly impossible even for Mobile Task Force Dionysus-3 “The Party Package”. Counter measures for any possible mass casualty events caused by Harmony Toys in the future are ongoing. Though once again, due to SCP-APP hindering a majority of our abilities to learn more about Harmony Toys especially within the Harmony Arcadia, there is no telling how effective these countermeasures will be, if at all.

It is a fair question and a wonderful opportunity to dive a bit and extend, maybe our basic knowledge about crystals, stones and minerals.

It is known that some crystals, minerals, stones interact with energies, vibrations, light, sounds, temperatures, mechanic stress in various ways with various results, therefore from holistic perspective some believe that the crystalline structure of these stones can interact with various subtle energies.

All objects have their own natural frequency at which they vibrate most easily. Applying this knowledge to crystals, the resonant frequency can affect the energetic properties of crystals. Because crystals and minerals interact with different types of energy, they sometimes get a little overloaded, holding onto vibes that are no longer helpful. Aziraphale grew up in what is essentially a religious cult that worships the goddess Ecliel, the goddess that birthed the universe and brought life to earth. She is the original bringer, the original light. The church believes that humans are part of her original creation, a world of everything pure. Magic is seen as supplementary, or impure, as it goes against the original plan of the universe that Ecliel created since it can be used to manipulate and change it. Members of this church are marked by their halos, an object imbued with a charm to make them impossible to remove without a magic source more powerful than its creation. It emits a constant soft glow. Aziraphale has an innate sense of magic, which is fueled by his pure faith in Ecliel and the life she brings. He hid his magic, using it sparingly in his youth. As he got older, it became harder and harder to contain his magic and hide his spells, due to the fact that they would occasionally produce residuum, and he was forced to hide it in the storage rooms of the church. Once the older bishops found the residuum, they did a sweep to find the magic user to dispose of them. Due to his nervousness, his fellow brother Gabriel became suspicious of him and lashed out with his sword demanding a duel to test his faith and loyalty. Under the pressure and fear, Aziraphale’s sword ignited in holy flame, giving him an opening to escape and run away from the church and go into hiding. He became a wandering low level cleric, struggling to learn spells on his own and make money, before he struck immense luck landing a high paying job. However, it came with a price: a partner he had to collaborate with.

Anthony, back when she went by Raphael, was a top student at an exclusive arcane academy. This academy specialized in the sacred art of zodiac elemental magic. There are those born with an innate connection to a particular zodiac, and those with this connection can utilize the constellation’s power to cast spells that mix traditional arcane magic with the elements. Raphael had an innate connection to the fire signs, and spent years studying the stars and practicing spells. She noticed, however, that her power fluctuations ran off of a different calendar from her peers. This curiosity lead her to discover a new potential zodiac: Ophiucus, or the Serpent Bearer. Her mentor, Lucifer (the holder of Aries), caught wind of her discovery. The introduction of a new zodiac would lead to a power dynamic shift, creating a domino effect that knocks all of the other holders down in their power. In order to assert his dominance over her, Lucifer challenged Raphael to a magic duel to prove that Aries will always be the most powerful fire sign. Raphael nearly lost the fight, her base level and experience being significantly lower than the near immortal Lucifer, and out of desperation made a minor connection to Ophiucus to draw power from him. This brief connection overwhelmed her, causing the spell to backlash and set the whole stage, the whole school on fire. Raphael fled, cutting the connection from Ophiucus as she went into hiding. She changed her name to Anthony, and swore away magic as he took up the art of being a rogue. The connection left him with small snake like features (slitted yellow eyes and scales scattered across his skin), which made it difficult to get patrons to trust him. He struck gold one day, getting a high paying job that came with a significant price: he had to work with a partner.

So, yes White Diamond and the others were redeemed and stuff yada yada. She was still terrifying, and white diamond Pearl just makes sense to me. So I tried a new take on my usual headcanons.

The collar in this is based on what they use in Wheel of Time (the show I haven't read it, but know they are slightly different). It's honestly pretty similar to White's powers if you dumb it down to what I did.

"Whoa, there's a lot of junk in here." Amethyst sidesteps a small avalanche of said junk with a raised brow.

"Don't touch anything, we don't know if any of this stuff is dangerous." Garnet adjusts her visor, eyeing the space with caution.

"What is this place anyway?" Steven examines a pile, careful not to touch but curious nonetheless, it was gem stuff after all.

"The warp malfunctioned, this could be anything from forgotten storage to a waste facility." Pearl does her best not to linger on any one item too long, ignoring the swirling feeling in her gut at the familiar objects.

"Oo! I found some jewelry! Garnet can I keep em??" The three gems turn, Steven always managing to find something fun.

Amethyst joins Steven in marveling at the small pile of shiny things, Garnet feels a niggling in her mind, a small recognition but no memory to go with it yet, she turns to Pearl to ask the once Homeworld Gem only to find her frozen. Her stare has yet to leave the pile, posture stiff and eyes wide. Garnet turns back to the pile, trying to figure out what could garner such a reaction, When Steven reaches out for something near the top, Pearl is across the room before Garnet can say anything, tackling the two smaller members of their party as the object in question rolls off the pile.

A circlet of golden material spins and totters to a stop, and Garnet still doesn't quite get it, not until a cuff bracelet at the bottom of the pile catches her notice. She'd seen that before for sure, on Diamonds and high ranking gems as well, the ones who… owned Pearls….

"Are you both alright?" Pearl examines Steven and Amethyst with frazzled movements, moving their heads this way and that.

"We're fine Pearl, what gives?"

"Are you alright Pearl?"

Garnet reaches for the circlet, wondering what about it spooked Pearl,

"Garnet, don't!" She both hears and feels the plea, a part of her warning her just as Pearl does.

Everyone is frozen for a moment, before Pearl inches closer, she pulls her spear from her gem and pokes the circlet until it's buried beneath the pile. Even with it out of sight though, Pearl remains tense, Garnet moves forward slowly,

"Maybe we should try and head back." She suggests, gesturing towards the warp pad.

Pearl seems to be on autopilot now, as she slips under Garnet's hand and towards their transportation, she's removed from the group, quiet as her eyes speak of troubles beyond their understanding. The ride back is tense.

Garnet and Amethyst find Pearl later that night, after Stevens went out with his dad, and hours after their surprise trip. She's sitting in the middle of one of her water levels, staring blankly ahead, she doesn't react to their arrival as they sit behind her on either side.

"Pearl-"

"It's alright Garnet. I… don't want to keep secrets from you guys… but so many years as a pearl… I yell at myself so often you know, those little voices in my head that make it near impossible to speak sometimes, they're the lump in my throat and the knot in my chest, and they look so familiar it hurts."

She closes her eyes, her gem glowing before a projection begins.

"That was no simple piece of jewelry." The circlet and forearm cuff spin above them, "These were tools used to… keep Pearls in line." The image shifts, a basic shape of a pearl is shown, the circlet- no a collar- wraps around the pearls neck, the figure writhes in agony, cries ringing out in the room, Pearl swallows thickly, the collar becoming a chest piece of sorts- and that's why Garnet couldn't recognize it before, she'd only ever seen the activated version, "The Pearl wears the," she clears her throat, word too hard to force past her lips, "while whoever they belong to wears the cuff."

The image shows a glowing chain of light connecting the two pieces, and how the Pearl is seemingly controlled by it.

"But we've seen what you can do Pearl, why don't pearls just kick gem butt?" Amethyst looks physically ill at the images before her.

"It'll be easier to show you I suppose." Her gem shines again and Garnet and Amethyst brace themselves as they are absorbed into the gem.

A giant holographic oyster floats before a single being. It opens in a burst of light, the pearl within projecting its form in a brilliant light show. As the light fades, the Pearl stands with her head bowed, draped in veils of white, the being she stands before bends, showing the great distance between the two, a hand- larger than pearl- reaches forward,

"Who do you serve?" A voice asks, echoing about the room with a fake sort of pleasantry.

"Do… Do I have to serve?" The small gem holds a look of innocence, freshly made and naive of the world.

The hand glows, a golden circlet appears and before the Pearl can react, it snaps around her throat. Her scream is immediate, body convulsing as waves of pain wrack her frame, it spreads to encompass her torso in ornamental gold, a thread of light reaching out for the cuff on the beings forearm.

"Who do you serve?" It's asked in the same tone.

The Pearl gasps out an answer,

"The one and only, iridescent White Diamond."

"Oh! It's a pearl!"

"You idiot, that's White Diamonds Pearl!"

"So? She's not here right now is she?"

Pearl can't stop them from grabbing the cuff, so long as she wears the collar she's unable to even think of touching it. And as she attempts to fight back, well, just the thought of that has agony ripping through her.

"Starlight. I have something for you."

Pearl walks forward, her head is bowed, arms crossed in the Diamond salute, her eyes are devoid of emotion.

"I… I already have a Pearl."

"An inexperienced one I'm afraid. Defective even. I mean really, its been what? A few hundred years? And it still can't complete its duties to you? I've trained this one personally Pink, it'll be perfect for you."

The cuff is held out for Pink to take, and after a moment, she does. White takes her leave and Pearl remains still as she awaits her first commands.

"Well… I'll have to come up with a nickname, so we don't get confused then." Pink Diamond motions to the pink Pearl who had been hidden behind the wall, her eye has a crack through it.

"Pink enjoys her times in the garden, what do you want to do until she gets back?"

"Leave me alone. You'll get in trouble." Pearl remains where Pink left her, half an eye on where the cuff resides inside her vanity, the rest of her attention on the warp.

"Get in trouble? Why?"

Pearl doesn't answer, and when the younger reaches out, Pearl flinches back, waiting for painpainpain.

"I'm… sorry." Pearl doesn't answer.

They're on the battlefield, one of their first, and Pearl is fighting with everything she has. It's strange, that a simple order from Pink allows her this freedom, but she's tense as she waits for the pain to wrack her form again.

Pearl sees Rae, outnumbers and losing, and rushes to the younger pearls side, the fight, gems poofing left and right, when she sees one coming up behind Rae. She doesn't even think, her body moves on its own- but not against her will, this is not an order or an implied one, but her own thought- the ax slices through her form with ease, and she can only hope Rae will be okay.

The gem floats, glowing light showing a formless body, shifts into a silhouette of the Pearl they remember, a few over so slight changes appear, before Pearl herself reforms. She sways, dizzy in a way she can't explain, and lighter too.

"Pearl! Are you alright?" Rae and Pink- Rose- watch her with worried eyes, and she frowns before nodding. She may not feel 100% but she can't let that affect her.
