hi!! so this isn't actually the case as while gourdy was briefly mentioned in a trial, said trial had nothing to do with whether or not gourdy was "real" per se as much as. well. murder, actually. while gourdy WAS found out to be an inflatable steel samurai this was not brought up in the case at all as the veracity of gourdy wasn't really as relevant as the fact that the witness was looking for gourdy rather than at the murder she claimed to have seen. plus this was also a relatively small part of a MUCH larger trial which for those interested not only solved the dl-6 case but ALSO marked the end of prosecutor von karma's ~40 year long record and the court records are really a fascinating read through!!

That sounds way worse than it is. Please let me explain before judging.

Me (25M*) and my partner (25F*) (we'll call her J) are avid exotic animal collectors (we work for an underground organization). We're usually incredible at catching exotic animals (again, for our work—usually we only keep ones we can handle/we like, and we don't keep too many at a time. Our only consistent companion is a very chatty cat). We're also both incredibly intelligent. So I just can't understand why we can't get this one kid's pet.

The kid (10M), who we'll call A. Ais out on his own and constantly traveling. I couldn't tell you why. Usually he has older kids, what I can only assume are his babysitters. They change every time he travels. I don't know how he gets friends so easily. I'm not especially interested in any of their animals—none are quite as interesting or strong as A's pet. So we only really go after his.

After about fifteen years of doing this to this ten year old kid and successfully capturing his pet exactly ZERO times, J and I are kind of attached to both of them. I know she is, because I know how she gets when she cares about someone.

I think catching A's pet, at this point, is kind of more just a way to stay around him for J and I. Of course we want to succeed and move up at work, and of course we're frustrated by not capturing him for more than like, a week. Ever. But this ten year old has come a long way in the past twenty years.

Recently A has gone on to make a major life achievement award—again, at ten—and I'm just wondering. Are J and I in the wrong for trying to take A's pet? I mean, J insists he's kind of a twerp. If not, would we be in the wrong for keeping it up?

Hey! I'm psychotic, and a writer, and recently I stopped taking my pills and my characters have been talking to me. It's the best feeling in the world. They're with me through everything. I know them inside and out and they know me just as well. Then there's a bossy voice that tells me to take care of myself that I've just been calling Caretaker. I can sometimes let them come forward and see through me. I feel different when that happens, like I'm in the background, but I never really go away. Am I plural? (I do have trauma, but idk if that's where they came from). Is calling myself plural okay? Or am I just a person with psychosis?

Genuinely, if you in any way, for any reason, experience something you'd call being more than one person/entity/identity in a body? You can call yourself plural.

We know of people who call themselves plural based on their hallucinations. We know of people who call themselves plural based on seeing themselves as a spiritual medium. It's not all just DID/OSDD or something you were born with or created plurality. There's no one true plural experience--plurality is simply the sate of being more than one. It doesn't matter where they came from.

You might get some people arguing that "you can't know if these are real headmates or hallucinations!!" but ignore them. We're psychotic and technically because of that, we'd never be able to tell if most identity-things we experience are just a result of psychosis. But that doesn't and shouldn't matter--we experience them anyway. If you experience being plural, and later it turns out to be psychosis or something else.. You still had that experience. You still lived that way. It's a thing you felt and lived and it's a thing that was you, for at least some amount of time. And we think that's enough.

That being said, if you want to call yourself a person with psychosis, that's fine too. You can do whatever you want, it's your identity.

Jack makes a questioning chirr, but he's lulled back to silence with an easy, soothing whirl of entangled fields. The dark sparkling too comfortable in his nook between the wall and Optimus' side.

Raf, too cozy and snug over the back of Optimus' neck, twitches in his sleep. Optimus feels the pup flex and curl. The smooth plating a marvel over his musculature.

Raf sneezes but doesn't budge from his makeshift burrow.

Optimus engages microtransformations along his back, creating a more comfortable indent and allowing her into his field. The connection flows easy as she quickly latches on. Words aren't needed as he layers on nonverbal confirmation to join them.

Miko immediately lunges, jumping hard enough to hook her talons on the berth edge, and scurries over his side and beneath the smokestacks to sprawl across his spinal struts like an overgrown starfish.

She purrs, nuzzling and chewing on the squishmallow in a rapid squeaks as Optimus rolls and pats her immature field in smoothing strokes. Miko snuffles, the squeaking quieting down until he could hear whiffles as her systems begin to match his own slowed ones.

All three sparklings radiate simple contentment and affection. Sparksong twirling around in his peripheral senses, anchoring deep as they needed it and falling into his rhythm as he regulates them. Optimus takes a slow moment to bask in it before slipping back into recharge.
