OMG, i just saw your post about harry naming his son severus and i had to say something like whenever albus severus comes up ppl are always like harry named his kid after a bully and a guy who was obsessed with his mom and it’s so annoying but your take with the silver doe and that moment in the forest was so cool. i never thought about it like that before but now i can’t stop thinking about how much meaning is in that scene.
Thank you so much!
Honestly, I don’t understand why some fans criticize Snape for holding onto grudges while at the same time mocking Harry for forgiving both Snape and Dumbledore. It’s frustrating to see the name "Albus Severus Potter" reduced to something like “Harry was foolish enough to name his child after a bully or someone who had a crush on his mom.” This perspective completely overlooks the depth of Snape’s sacrifices and Harry’s growth as a person.
Harry Potter is my second favorite character in the series, and I really love how, just like Snape, he has his flaws—he can be bitter and prejudiced at times But over the years, he grows and matures, learning to move past the narrow judgments of his childhood. Harry comes to understand the complexities of others—recognizing their struggles, sacrifices, and flaws—and, in doing so, he learns to pass on values of understanding, gratitude, and forgiveness to the next generation.
The choice to name his son Albus Severus is a powerful reflection of this growth. It’s not merely about the past—it highlights just how far Harry has come as an adult. He’s learned to understand the complexities of war, sacrifice, and human imperfection.

Damn!
Can you believe it took Albus and Harry two months to apologize to each other after the world almost came to an end, Albus seeing his grandparents die and Harry almost feeling his son die? You two stubborn bastards!
ALBUS: For you, it’s the greatest place on earth. I know. The poor orphan, bullied by his uncle and aunt Dursley . . .
HARRY: Albus, please — can we just —
ALBUS: . . . traumatized by his cousin, Dudley, saved by Hogwarts. I know it all, Dad. Blah, blah, blah.
HARRY: I’m not going to rise to your bait, Albus Potter.
ALBUS: The poor orphan who went on to save us all. So may I say — on behalf of wizarding kind —how grateful we are for your heroism. Should we bow now or will a curtsy do?
HARRY: Albus, please — you know, I've never wanted gratitude.
ALBUS: But right now I'm overflowing with it — it must be the kind gift of this moldy blanket that didit. . .
HARRY: Moldy blanket?
ALBUS: What did you think would happen? We'd hug. I'd tell you I always loved you. What? What?
HARRY (finally losing his temper): You know what? I'm done with being made responsible for youunhappiness. At least you've got a dad. Because I didn't, okay?
ALBUS: And you think that was unlucky? I don't.
HARRY: You wish me dead?
ALBUS: No! I just wish you weren't my dad.
HARRY (seeing red): Well, there are times I wish you weren't my son.
There's a silence.
ALBUS nods.
Pause.
HARRY realizes what he said.
No, I didn't mean that. . .
ALBUS: Yes. You did.
HARRY: Albus, you just know how to get under my skin. . .
ALBUS: You meant it, Dad. And, honestly, I don't blame you.
There's a horrible pause.
You should probably leave me alone now.
HARRY: Albus, please. . .
ALBUS picks up the blanket and throws it. It collides with RON's love potion, which spills all overthe blanket and the bed, producing a small puff of smoke.
ALBUS: No luck or love for me, then.
ALBUS runs out of the room.
HARRY goes after him.
HARRY: Albus. Albus. . . Please. . .
Two months later:
ALBUS:I got to watch them — you know — for a bit — your mom and dad. They were — you had funtogether. Your dad used to love to do this smoke ring thing with you where you. . . well, you couldn't stop giggling.
HARRY: Yes?
ALBUS: I think you'd have liked them. And I think me, Lily, and James would have liked them too.
HARRY nods.
There is a slightly uncomfortable silence.
Both are trying to reach each other here, both are failing.
HARRY: You know, I thought I'd lost him — Voldemort — I thought I'd lost him — and then my scarstarted hurting again and I had dreams of him and I could even speak Parseltongue again and Istarted to feel like I'd not changed at all — that he'd never let me go —
ALBUS: And did he?
HARRY: The part of me that was Voldemort died a long time ago, but it wasn't enough to be physically rid of him — I had to be mentally rid of him. And that — is a lot to learn for a forty-year-old man.
He looks at ALBUS.
That thing I said to you — it was unforgivable, and I can't ask you to forget it but I can hope we move past it. I'm going to try to be a better dad for you, Albus. I am going to try and—be honest with you and . .
ALBUS: Dad, you don't need to—
HARRY: You told me you don't think I'm scared of anything, and that — I mean, I'm scared of everything. I mean, I'm afraid of the dark, did you know that?
ALBUS: Is Harry Potter afraid of the dark? HARRY: I don't like small spaces and — I've never told anyone this, but I don't much like — (he hesitates before saying it) pigeons.
ALBUS: You don't like pigeons?
HARRY (he scrunches up his face): Nasty, pecky, dirty things. They give me the creeps.
ALBUS: But pigeons are harmless!
HARRY: I know. But the thing that scares me the most, Albus Severus Potter, is being a father to you. Because I'm operating without wires here. Most people at least have a father to base themselves on — and either try to be or try not to be. I've got nothing — or very little. So I'm learning, okay? And I'm going to try with everything I've got — to be a good dad for you.
ALBUS: And I'll try and be a better son. I know I'm not James, Dad, I'll never be like you two —
HARRY: James is nothing like me.
ALBUS: Isn't he?
HARRY: Everything comes easy for James. My childhood was a constant struggle.
ALBUS: So was mine. So you're saying — am I — like you?
HARRY smiles at ALBUS.
HARRY: Actually you're more like your mum — bold, fierce, funny — which I like — which I think makes you a pretty great son.

Aurelius Dumbledore's mom? (My version)
Also a big middle finger to JKR.
Aurelius Dumbledore's biological mother.
Hesperia Abbott was the oldest daughter of Bernard Abbott and Lavinia Abbott (née Gamp). She grew up in Godric's Hollow, often befriending many fellow wizards and witches, despite her mum's stricter view on her “purity”.
She once met Aberforth Dumbledore, who had moved in with his older brother, Albus and his sister, Ariana and their mother, Kendra after Percival Dumbledore was imprisoned in Azkaban for attacking muggle boys. During the summer of 1899, she and Aberforth Dumbledore fell in love. There was much mental conflict she went through and the only person she confided in was her little sister, Nereida.
Despite Aberforth not having a great reputation only being “Albus Dumbledore’s” brother, Hesperia could truly see that man for a fun, goat-loving, kind-hearted gruffness that she adored so much. She found herself pregnant at the age of 17 and was terrified. To be fair, so was Aberforth. He didn’t expect a child to come into the picture, and that too so quickly. Lavinia Abbott noticed that her daughter was straying away from the family, and its values so she pulled Nereida aside and questioned her. She wanted to know why but Nereida wouldn’t “loosen her tongue” to put it.
Aberforth was shocked to receive a letter from Mrs Abbott stating that Hesperia was to be “sent away”, their baby to be taken an ocean far by Nereida, presumably to stay with a relative of sorts. Aberforth wasn’t there to hear the screams and wails of Hesperia as she was parted from her baby.
To regain control of the situation, Lavinia arranged for her daughter Hesperia to marry an excellent future son-in-law, Lucian Flint. Lucian had recently lost his wife, Balbina Crabbe, during childbirth, which resulted in the death of their stillborn child. Hesperia married Lucian in 1901, and together they had three children: two sons, Mederic (born in 1906) and Cyrus (born in 1909), and a daughter, Annalise (born in 1912). Through her son Mederic, Hesperia would become the great-grandmother of Marcus Flint, and through her daughter Annalise, she would also be the great-grandmother of Hestia and Flora Carrow.
Now, I do know that it is unknown what happened to her, but she may have died before 1926, as Mary Lou referred to her in the past tense. But, I don’t like that idea so a big middle finger. She eventually had to keep the memory of Aurelius close to herself, considering how the Flints would be a high-class society in the wizarding world. In 1901, Nereida boarded a ship headed for America with her nephew Aurelius, leaving her mother behind. During the voyage, the ship encountered a storm and began to sink. Unbeknownst to Nereida, a young Leta Lestrange had switched Aurelius with another baby in the crib. When Nereida went to the lifeboat, it capsized, and she drowned while diving underwater to rescue baby Corvus, whom she believed was her nephew. When Hesperia heard of this tragedy, she assumed her baby had drowned along with her sister and chose never to speak to her mother again.
Also, I want to write a scene where Hesperia, now a Flint enters the Hog’s Inn, (maybe the first wizarding war?) and meets Aberforth after almost 70 years. (I hate that it adds up to 69).
#my headcanons#my version of her i guess?#i dont have a fancast for her but it's just an idea in my head.

Dark Desires Chapter One Teaser...
Yandere! Gellert Grindelwald x Muggle Female Reader.
You graduated high school and wanted to make the most of it since you are a brand new adult.
So... You asked your mom.
Thailand? For one month and with your girlfriends.

You begged your father when your mom refused.
He was worried.
"Dad, what's the worst that could happen?"
Millions of miles away.
Albus suggested to his best friend to go on a vacation. Gellert was suffering from nightmares. He was fresh out of Azkaban after so many long years.
"Fresh air and out door freedom will do you good."
Gellert rolled his eyes. He told him he went to perhaps almost all the world.
Albus shook his head. He pointed out to Gellert that he went to all the richest countries and overrated travel places.
Not the unknown and unappreciated places.
"Where do you suggest?"
Albus smiled. "I recently came from Thailand. A beautiful and healthy country."
Tch. Gellert scoffed. He disregarded Asia. He was racist and stereotyped them all due to poverty.
As if his people didn't colonize or invaded them in the past. That's a whole different story.
Albus frowned. He was middle aged and still was ignorant and mean spirited. Albus couldn't believe this was his best friend.
Albus admonished him for his evil thoughts. To avoid a lecture. Gellert gave in
Albus clamped a hand on the wide and broad muscular shoulder of his friend.
"What's the worst that could happen?"
Day two at Thailand...

Gellert blinked as he saw you at the distance at the Thailand ancient history and art museum.
What a foreign and lovely creature you were.
Thus your nightmare began.

Chapter One
The Scrapbook
“To what do we owe the pleasure Minister?” Harry asks.
“I think we both know the answer to that question, Mr. Potter.” His voice is deep and sure as he speaks. Rufus Scrimgeour leads them to the living room and Harry, Hermione, and Ron sit down in front of him as he lays down a cloth wrap.
“And this is?...”Harry states with a confused look on his face. The Minister then pulls out a piece of paper before making it float in front of him so he can read it.
"Herein is said forth the last will and testament of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. First, to Ronald Billius Weasley, I leave my Deluminator. A device of my own making. In hope when things seem most dark it will show you the light."
"Dumbledore left this for me?" Ron says taking the small black item out of its cover.
"Yes," the Minister says. Ron looks at it in wonder.
"Really. What is it?" He asks and clicks it open. It takes the lights and when clicked back open it puts them back. "Super."
"To Hermione Jean Granger, I leave my copy of Tales of Beedle the Bard in the hope that she finds it entertaining and instructive," He says handing her a book. She looks at it confused.
"Mom used to tell me those. The wizard and the hopping pot, Babbity Rabbity and the Cackling Stump Come on. Babbity Rabbity... No?" Ron says as we all look at him confused.
"To Harry James Potter, I leave the snitch he caught in his first match at Hogwarts. As a reminder of rewards of perseverance and skill," He says and holds out the golden snitch. Harry looks a bit defeated as does the Minister.
"Is that it then?" Harry asks and the Minister shakes his head.
"Not quite. Dumbledore left you a second bequest: The sword of Godric Gryffindor. Unfortunately the sword of Gryffindor was not Dumbledore's to give away. As an important historical artifact it belongs.." He says.
"...to Harry. It belongs to Harry. It came to him when he most needed it in the Chamber of Secrets," Hermione cuts him up. The minister shakes his head.
"The sword may present itself to any worthy Gryffindor, Miss Granger but that does not make it that wizard's property," He says. "Unfortunately the current whereabouts of the sword are unknown."
"Excuse me?" Harry says. We both look at each other and he looks worried.
"The Sword is Missing. I don't know what you are up to, Mr. Potter but you can't fight this war on your own. He is too strong," The Minister says. Harry, Hermione, and Ron give each other a glance as the Minister stands up.
“One last thing is left. To Harry James Potter, Hermione Jean Granger and Ronald Billius Weasley, I leave this scrapbook, an artifact very dear to my heart, in hopes to give you an insight of not only my life but to help you with your next steps necessary towards victory.” Hermione moves forward to grab the elegant scrapbook, looking more like an album, with its intricate black cover and dark emerald green ribbon on the front. The three of them looked really confused. With that, the Minister left, not before saying,
“Best of luck Mr. Potter, you will need it.”
The trio, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, sit in a circle around the living room, still puzzled by the words of Dumbledore, the Minister, and the scrapbook they had received. Hermione carefully inspects the runes on the cover, her brow furrowed in concentration. She noticed that as she tried to open the book, there was a presence of magic around it. With a flick of her wand and a whispered incantation that effortlessly flowed from her mind, the invisible lock clicks open the book. The three all glance at each other with curiosity. They eagerly flip through the pages, revealing the surprising images within.
Harry peers over Hermione's shoulder, “What do you see, Hermione?”
Hermione gasps softly, “ It's... it's a baby. But... wait, something's changing.”
Ron interrupts, “Changing? What do you mean by changing?”Hermione turns the page, and they watch as the baby's features morph into those of a young girl. “She's... she's growing older right before our eyes.”
Ron exclaims, “That's... that's incredible!”
They continue to flip through the pages, each image revealing a different moment in time. Suddenly, they come across a picture of a much younger Albus Dumbledore, his eyes twinkling with mischief.Harry says, “That’s Dumbledore…”
Hermione turns the page again, and they see a young Gellert Grindelwald standing beside Dumbledore, their faces alight with excitement, and happiness. “It's them... when they were friends…no, wait…Do you think they were more than just friends?”
Ron replies with furrowed eyebrows, “There’s no bloody way that they could’ve been together Mione. It’s a bit hard to believe, I mean, Grindelwald was an evil wizard.” The trio falls silent as they continue to explore the scrapbook, each lost in their own thoughts, revealing images of the girl with both Albus and Gellert. Then, Hermione gasps once more, her eyes widening in surprise, as she changes the page once more.
“Look at this!” Hermione exclaims to Harry and Ron. Harry and Ron lean in to see what has caught Hermione's attention. They see the teenage girl, dressed in Slytherin robes, dancing with a young Tom Riddle.
Harry says flabbergasted and angrily, “Tom Riddle? What's he doing here?”
Hermione replies, also in an extremely surprised state, still trying to process what was in front of her, “I'm not sure, but... it looks like they're... dancing?
Ron says, “Well…quite the surprise there huh?”
Harry replies coldly, “Yeah, to say the least.” They exchange puzzled glances before turning their attention back to the scrapbook, eager to uncover more secrets hidden within its pages.
Hermione turned a couple of more pages, each with more images of the lovely young couple, until writing appeared over the next blank page. The words that appeared in front of the trio were of Dumbledore. The three read his note:
I see you have received the scrapbook I left for you. The contents of this book have much you need to know about my past, my secrets, the loves and losses that shaped my life. I was not always the wise old wizard you see before you. There was a time when I was young, foolish, and in love. I was in love with Gellert Grindelwald. He was many things. He was also brilliant, charismatic, and enchanting. We shared a bond that transcended mere friendship. We even married in secret, during a time of great turmoil. But our love was not to last. We had a child conceived by a surrogate, and bore a daughter. She was our greatest joy and our deepest sorrow. She bore the weight of our mistakes and our regrets. She was a Slytherin. She was brilliant, ambitious, and fiercely loyal. But she was also troubled, haunted by the shadows of our past. It wasn’t until she fell in love with Tom Riddle, the boy who would become Voldemort, that she found her way to regain a part of her that was lost because of me and Gellert. Their romance was nothing that I would have anticipated. I couldn’t bear to see her with a boy as troubled as her, but they prevailed. I thought he would corrupt her. She died on May 13, 1943. A casualty of a war she never chose to fight. A victim of a destiny she could not escape. A casualty by my own hand. I have learned that love is both a gift and a burden. It has the power to lift us up to the highest heights and drag us down to the darkest depths. But in the end, it is what defines us, what binds us together, even in death.
Silence descends upon the room, broken only by the soft rustle of pages as the trio processes Dumbledore's revelations, leaving Harry, Ron, and Hermione to grapple with the weight of his confessions.
Ron spoke first, trying to relieve the tension, “Well, uhm…who would’ve thought that Dumbledore’s daughter would be the one to make Riddle’s heart go soft?”
Hermione whacked his arm with a paper repeatedly and yelled, “Oh Ronald Weasley! This is not the time for your stupid jokes, this is serious.”
Ron replied, trying to dodge her blows, “Bloody hell woman, that hurts!”
Harry pondered on his thoughts as Hermione and Ron were arguing. There was no way that Tom Riddle could ever love someone, there was just no way. It was truly hard for Harry to believe that the Tom Riddle-Lord Voldemort-himself was ever in love, or had a heart. Harry spoke up and exclaimed exasperatedly, “I still don’t get it. How is any of this supposed to help us? I mean even if Riddle loved Dumbledore’s daughter, she’s dead. This was just a waste.”
Just as Harry had finished his sentence, the note disappeared, and more writing came up. Hermione moved towards the book and read the writing out loud:
My daughter, while she supposedly died…I have to mention that nothing is as true as it seems. I had to protect her, or so I thought. My actions, while they may seem extreme, were important to me years ago. Now that I realize that I may have been wrong…In fact…I had taken all necessary precautions…She is…alive. The images within this scrapbook are all clues that will help you find her. They all have meaning and are small parts to the larger puzzle. I had to make sure that this scrapbook was in the right hands. Best of luck Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, and Ms. Granger…I will leave you with your first direct clue…her name is…Genevieve Ariana Dumbledore-Grindelwald.

Author's Note: posting Chapter Three because I am avoiding my to-do list. Reminder: the full series is on my AO3 here.

Chapter Three - Where Shadows Soften
Rae
I wake up on the couch, a blanket draped across me that I don’t remember getting. Gypsy tugs at my sleeve, urging me up. I’m not even sure when I fell asleep.
I remember the kiss. It was slow at first, like he needed time to decide it was okay to want me back. Only when he finally set his glass down did he fully join me, his touch deepening the moment, his body finally catching up to the longing in his eyes. At some point he relaxed enough that we moved to a horizontal position. It made me feel like a teenager again, laying on my mom’s couch and making out with a boy, not ready to move further but not wanting to stop either.
Eventually we did part, breathless and aching for more. We resumed drinking our wine, him in a more relaxed sitting position, me reclining against him. I told him about my summer: training with Albus, my traveling healer job, finding Gypsy and bringing her home. I leave out the wallowing about him, I’ve tortured him about that enough already. I prod him for questions about his summer, but I don’t think there is much for him to tell me. He went home to a place called Spinners End, where he says he grew up. I push for more information about his childhood, too. He answers my questions, but I can sense that the memories are not easy, so I back off a little.
He begins telling me a story about his mom, and that is the last thing I remember. A few glasses of wine and the clown rumble of his voice settling me into a sleep deep enough not to hear him leave.
His absence this morning made me a little uneasy. As Gypsy and I leave for our morning run, I send a prayer to the universe that it isn’t a sign he is pulling away again.
It takes an immense amount of self restraint not to seek him out for the rest of the weekend, but I manage to wait until Monday morning.
I walk directly to his classroom as I arrive, not bothering to put any of my things away in mine. I am too nervous to prolong it. I stop as I reach for the doorknob. What if he is angry again? What if he decided I’m too much work? What if… he is completely indifferent this morning?
I will my nerves to calm, count to three, and don’t look back.
He has two coffee mugs, and a plate of pastries set on the table in front of his desk, like he knew I would come here first thing this morning. I beam at him as I approach and pick up my coffee - sweet and creamy, exactly how I like it. He watches me from lowered brows as I bring his cup to him and lean down to kiss his cheek. He pulls away before my lips make contact and I recoil from the sting of the rejection.
He must read it on me because his face softens immediately and he reaches for my hand, rubbing circles on the back of it with his thumb. The edges of my mouth lift at the memory.
“I think…,” he starts, slowly, watching every muscle of my face. “We should lay some… ground rules.”
“What kind of ground rules?”
“The kind that keeps students and faculty out of our business,” his words are short and sharp.
I move back to the table, sitting and digging into a cream cheese danish.
“Are you ashamed of me, Severus?” I say around a mouthful.
“I.. no, Rae, I am not ashamed of you, though watching this display is giving me pause.”
I stick my food-covered tongue out at him.
“I simply… I do not like people in my business. Our business. And I would like time for us to figure out what our business is before others involve themselves in it.”
“And here I thought this was just reckless flirting and undeniable physical attraction,” I say winking at him, hoping he takes the bait.
He does.
Severus inhales deeply and his eyes find mine, all sincerity. “Miss Wren, if it were only physical, you would not… undo me the way you do.”
My breath hitches. Something aches in me at his words.
“In that case, Severus,” I say, moving to his side again. He turns his head to keep eye contact as I crouch to his level, and I hold his face in both my hands. “As long as it is our business .” I place a soft kiss to his lips. He doesn’t pull away this time.
“I am happy to do whatever makes you most comfortable,” I concede. “What are the ground rules?”
“First, on campus we are strictly professional. No touching, no flir-“
“Severus!” I cut him off, “be realistic. 95% of our time is spent on this campus. I cannot be expected to spend so much time with you and never touch you.”
“Rae…”
“Counter,” I offer, realizing this matters to him. “We keep our hands to ourselves during class hours and when anyone else is nearby. After hour brewing sessions or early morning lesson planning is fair game.” My hands are still holding his face, I realize.
I use it to my advantage. I drag my thumb along the bottom of his mouth, watching his lips like they’re a meal and I am starving. I lick my own lips. He tenses. Growls out, “fine.” His lips are instantly against mine again, hungrily this time. I smile into the kiss in triumph.
I pull away and return to my perch on the table. It is too risky to be that close to him right now.
“You started to say no flirting, but that one is simply irresponsible.”
He tilts his head in question.
“I have been openly flirting with you since day one. Everyone will see right through it if I suddenly stop. But I will agree to be more careful about it.”
He considers this a moment before nodding in agreement.
“Wow I am either really good at negotiating, or you got it bad, mister .”
He gives me a look. I smile back with mock innocence.
“My turn!” I chirp.
He raises an eyebrow. Curious. Wary.
“You cannot leave without kissing me goodbye. Ever.” It comes out lighter than I mean it, but I hope he hears what I don’t say: do not vanish on me again.
“Rae-“
“Unless.” I clarify, “it is in direct violation of rule number one.”
He sighs. That’s a yes.
“And…”I pause as I try to find the words. He is patient.
“You cannot shut me out again. I won’t push for anything you aren’t ready to tell me. Just… let me know when something matters. Even if you can’t tell me why.”
Our eyes lock for a moment. He nods once.
“There is… one more,” he adds.
“Sure, let’s hear it.”
“We tell no one…”
“Easy!”
“Except Albus”
I freeze. “No.”
“Rae.”
“Absolutely not.”
“He needs to know.”
“He doesn’t. We are adults. There’s no reason.”
“There are reasons. Things in motion…”
“What things?”
A blank stare, his silence saying everything.
“Fine. If you want to tell Albus you can.”
“Thank you.”
“When you tell me what things you mean.”
He groans and rubs between his eyes.
“Do you trust me?” He asks.
I close my eyes. Inhale. Nod. “Just… give me time.”
His hand touches my cheek. I hadn’t heard him cross the room. I lean into his touch.
“I’ll give you time,” he murmurs. “But he will need to know.”
He kisses my forehead and returns to his desk. My cheek feels cold where his hand was.
Ground rules established, and classes beginning shortly, I hop from my desk and head for the door.
“Rae,” he calls behind me. His voice has that scolding edge, like I have already broken a rule.
I turn just as he crosses the room in long, purposeful strides.
“You have already forgotten rule number three.”
He leans one arm over me to hold the door closed as his mouth covers mine.
He kisses me like he has been thinking about it for months. Like he has memorized the shape of my mouth and had been holding back for far too long. His lips were demanding, his free hand sliding to the base of my neck, holding me in place like I might disappear.
I lean into him, dizzy with the heat, the taste of him. My fingers curl into the collar of his robes, pulling him closer.
When his tongue brushes mine, it is my undoing. Slow and devastating and utterly sure of itself. I whimper into the kiss, shameless, and he groans in response — the sound low and involuntary, like it was dragged out of him.
By the time we pull apart, we are both breathless. His pupils blown wide, his chest rising and falling like he had just run a race.
“You keep kissing me like that, Severus Snape… and I will forget my own name.”
Rae
I wish I could say the rules were hard to follow after that. I would like to say that we could barely keep our hands off each other. The truth is, life at a boarding school, particularly a magical boarding school, takes every spare second of a teacher’s time. There are always kids around, breaking things, breaking rules, breaking bones. Now that quidditch practice has begun, the infirmary is a rotating door of new injuries, ailments, and magical illnesses. I have started taking on some of the night shifts to give Madam Pomfrey a true break.
My brewing sessions with Snape don’t offer much room for romance, either. The schedule is too tight, and most potions cannot be unattended for longer than a few minutes. So we talk, instead.
So far, I have managed to get Severus talking about his dueling days. He never brags, but there is an underlying sense of pride to his stories. The unique spells that gain him a surprise victory, or the speed at which he had to counter or redirect critical spells flung at him. I know him well enough to know he is dialing down the recounting of his skill, and even then, I find my mouth hanging open in disbelief.
“You must have been an asset during the first War,” I say, lost in thought as I stir a particularly difficult blood staunching potion. “It’s a wonder Voldemort didn’t hunt you down directly.”
It slips out before I can think. And the moment it does, I know I’ve made a mistake. I can feel the air shift, like lightning is about to strike. I glance across the room at him to see him frozen stiff. I can’t read the look on his face - it’s somewhere between guilt and regret. I silently spell the spoon to continue stirring the potion and approach him. He is so lost in whatever memory has encroached on his mind that he doesn’t notice me there.
I gently touch his back, to let him know I’m here. He turns his neck stiffly, like he’s pushing against a hold on it, to meet my eyes. His eyes churn with a storm I haven’t seen before. I take his hand in mine and rub circles with my thumb.
“Severus, I’m sorry,” I whisper. “That was a stupid thing to say, I wasn’t thinking.”
He watches my thumb rubbing his hand. After several dragged minutes, I see him start to relax. He nods in confirmation that the storm has passed, but I hesitate to leave him. He excuses himself to his private rooms and I return to my potion, miraculously not ruined. An hour passes before he returns to tell me good night.
Before he kisses me goodbye, he rests his forehead against mine, his hands holding my waist to pull me near to him. Like he needs to feel me against him, steady and nonmoving.
His eyes are closed as he says, “the first war… I… I followed someone who sought to destroy everything I now fight to protect.”
He doesn’t say anymore, and I am too shaken to speak. I want to ask what he meant. I want to ask everything. But I’ve never seen him this… bare.
I kiss him softly and tell him I’ll see him tomorrow.
Before I walk through the door I turn back to him and add, “I have darkness in my past, too. There’s darkness in all of us. There’s light in all of us. I see yours, Severus. Hidden as it may be, I see it and it is bright and beautiful.”
He seems lighter the next morning.
Until Lockhart corners us both at a staff meeting and asks us to follow him for a moment. I see the thought as Severus considers walking away. I tug on his robe sleeve and hiss through gritted teeth, “don’t you dare leave me alone in there.”
His eyes narrow in defiance, but he walks with me to Lockhart’s classroom. I am please to see there are several other professors gathered here, though they all look confused.
“Did you call this meeting?” Minerva asks Snape as we arrive.
“I was told Dumbledore requested my presence,” Flitwick comments.
The whole room begins mumbling their confusion about what they were told this meeting was.
I am more amused by the second. I have no idea what Lockhart is up to, but I know it will be entertaining.
Snape reads my face and starts to say something, but he’s drowned out as Lockhart stands at the front of the room and begins to talk over the small crowd.
“My dear friends! My dear friends! I am, in fact, the one who asked you all here. My sincere apologies for the false pretenses used to lure some of you here, but I think you will find this well worth your time!”
Some of the professors begin grumbling amongst themselves and others head toward the door. I stay. I know this will be a disaster. And I want a front row seat .
I cannot help but intervene. “Wait, please! Let’s hear him out. What he has for us must be vital, for Gilderoy to have betrayed all your trust - plotting and lying to get you here. I, for one, would like to know what could be so important that he would risk losing our respect and good opinions!”
From the corner of my eye, I see Snape cover his mouth with his hand. I fight back the laugh that tries to escape me, too.
Lockhart looks unsure as he mumbles his thanks to me and I avoid looking at Snape for fear of losing my composure.
A few minutes later we are all sitting at desks, with parchment and quills. Well, those of us who remain after Lockhart explained this meeting was called to help him brainstorm ways to make his new Dueling Club educational while also providing a theatrical experience that is engaging and entertaining.
Snape peers over at my list of suggestions, which get more ridiculous as the list grows, and I see his lips tug up in a hidden smile.
Each duelist should choose an entrance song to walk out to. Each duelist should choose a stage name for the onlookers to chant. Wear platform shoes. It’s important that you tower over the victors. Winners should be garnered with feather boas.
“You know he’s going to take those seriously,” Snape whispers beside me.
“I’m counting on it,” I say with a wink at him.
He shakes his head in disapproval, but I know he won’t stop me submitting these.
Lockhart approaches our table, beaming at list he sees on my parchment. “Miss Wren, I had hoped you would be one of the first to join me in a duel. On further reflection, I decided to spare you the embarrassment. Your students using your lessons on your own injuries might be less than ideal.” He laughs too loudly at his own joke.
I am not smiling.
“It is not worth the risk to your lovely face, either. It is rare one finds such natural beauty; we mustn’t tempt the fates to take it away.”
I thank him for his kind consideration and add a final suggestion to my list.
Challenge Professor Snape — one win against him, and no one will ever doubt your dueling prowess again!
Snape gives me a look at this one, and I shrug.
The sexist oaf deserves to be knocked on his ass.

- Lily is Harry’s senior at Hogwarts and James are Harry’s older brother (different mom) Harry’s parents divorced and he’s living with his mom family. They didn’t treat him well after his mom passed away
- Harry later living with Tom in Peverell house Tom inherited, Tom change his surname from Riddle to Peverell; refused to use his father name neither for his mother.
- Gaunt family has been fallen, the member such as Tom’s grandfather and uncle died not so long after being released from Azkaban. And even there’s other member left it’s doesn’t matter
- James’s group is Harry favorite senior gang, especially Sirius who proudly told everyone that Harry is his younger brother
- Lily and James are dating, maybe fiancée
- Severus Snape is Lily best friend, he despises James and still concerned that his bestie dating this man.
- Harry and Severus first impression wasn’t good but they’re get along now— Severus never admits that he’s care about Harry but everyone knows he’s like Harry protective father, Severus helps harry with his studies A LOTS
- Lucius and Draco are siblings, Draco is Harry no.1 rival (at least Draco name it himself) he’s love teasing harry but it clearly for the whole school that Draco has a crush on Harry. Harry knows and waiting for Draco to ask him out (also has feeling for him) and Draco? Still in denial

- Regulas not understanding his brother later talk things out with Sirius by the help of Severus, Nacissa and others
- Severus roommate is Regulas. Nacissa convinced Snape to take care of her younger brother with some deal. In Regulas POV Sev is his dream older brother figure and very attached to Sev. After talk with Sirius, Regulas is being very supportive when he’s know Sirius has a crush on Sev— he always wanted Sev to be his brother after all

- spoiler alert: after so many years they became the most famous gay couple of wizarding world known to today (from doom yaoi to healthy old man yaoi yay) this was also the reason Hogwarts is a very welcome place for lgbtqa+
- Victor Krum is Ron’s celebrity crush, when Ron asking for a sign from Krum he was so anxious and Krum think it’s cute. Later in the prom they’re dancing together and after some event they’re deciding to dating

Chapter 1: The Queen's Blessing
Jiah Moonjang was a head-turning, jaw-dropping showstopper. She was the kind of beauty that left conversations suspended mid-sentence and made poor, unsuspecting wizards run into poles, trees, and sometimes, even each other. The air seemed to hum around her as if it could sense the extraordinary presence she exuded. Standing at the entrance to the room, she held herself with the poise of royalty, her back straight, shoulders squared, her every movement graceful. Yet, beneath that composed exterior, the slight tremor in her hands betrayed the nerves that bubbled just beneath the surface. It was as if her very presence invited a storm of attention and expectation that was difficult to bear.
Her features were a striking blend of her Korean heritage and her British background—a mix of delicate symmetry, soft elegance, and undeniable charm. Her skin, pale and flawless like porcelain, shimmered under the soft lighting, while her dark, almond-shaped eyes were framed by long, delicate lashes that added a mysterious depth to her gaze. She had the kind of beauty often likened to celebrity idols, not merely pretty but mesmerizing—otherworldly in a way that captivated anyone who looked at her, leaving them wondering whether she had stepped out of a fairy tale.
Her long, sleek hair cascaded down her back in waves of glossy black, almost glowing in the dimmed light of the room. It framed a face that appeared perfectly crafted—soft, gentle, with high cheekbones and a delicate jawline, exuding an air of innocence that almost concealed the quiet but formidable strength within. Her expression, while warm and welcoming, suggested there was more beneath the surface—a fierce inner resilience, an untold story that only a few might glimpse if they were lucky enough to get past the calm demeanor she wore like a second skin.
As she stepped forward to bow to Queen Elizabeth, the gesture was elegant, a deep show of respect, executed with such grace it seemed effortless. The movement was flawless, like she had practiced it countless times, perfectly in tune with the decorum expected in such a regal setting. But when she straightened, she couldn’t help but catch her breath. Her palms, slick with sweat, were quickly wiped across the fabric of her robes in an attempt to mask her unease. The moment felt heavier than she had anticipated, and for the first time in years, her calm surface felt fragile, as though the weight of this moment might fracture her composed exterior.
Her voice, though soft, was clear and carried across the room, cutting through the silence with a vulnerability she couldn’t completely hide. “Your Majesty, it’s a true honor to be here with you,” she said, each word chosen carefully, yet the last few words trembled slightly—just enough to reveal the nervousness she was struggling to keep under control.
Before she could say anything more, a sharp, perceptive gaze from Queen Elizabeth met her. The Queen, as sharp-eyed and alert as ever, remained unfazed by the tension in the room, her cool demeanor unwavering. Her voice, low and composed, sliced through the atmosphere with an authority that could silence even the most seasoned diplomats. "What have you brought me this time, Albus?" she asked, turning her gaze toward Albus Dumbledore.
Sensing the rising tension in the room, Albus, ever the diplomat, gestured toward Jiah with quiet confidence, his movements calm and steady, as though he had rehearsed this moment a thousand times. His voice was soft, but there was an underlying strength to it—protective, yet soothing. “Your Majesty, this is Jiah Moonjang, a descendant of Korea’s last imperial family. She’s a young witch of incredible talent,” he explained, his tone reassuring, as though trying to smooth the edges of the awkwardness in the room.
Jiah’s breath caught in her throat at the mention of her true heritage. The weight of her secret felt suddenly, achingly real. She had known that this moment would come one day, but hearing someone else speak it aloud, making it real, made it feel all the more daunting. She swallowed hard, and the air around her seemed to tighten as her chest constricted with emotion. The vulnerability of her situation seemed to hang in the air, heavy and palpable. Her palms grew clammy, the warmth of her cheeks rising as she stepped forward. Her eyes met the Queen’s for a brief moment, their gazes locking—hers filled with anxiety and uncertainty, the Queen’s with a curious understanding, as if she could see straight through her.
Jiah opened her mouth to speak but found the words caught in her throat. She swallowed again, trying to steady her breath, and gathered the courage to continue. "Your Majesty, I… I really do apologize," she began, the words tumbling out a little too quickly. "I didn’t mean to disrupt anything by coming here without proper warning. The decision for my school to connect with Hogwarts just got finalized. My family has kept our true lineage hidden, not out of ill will, but because we had to—between the Japanese Imperial Army and the Japanese Wizarding World, we feared we were to be hunted," she hurriedly admitted, her words spilling out faster than she would have liked.
Her hands shook in front of her, clutched together as she tried to steady herself. Each word she spoke seemed to weigh heavier than the last, the pressure of her secret threatening to overwhelm her. Her breath quickened as she pressed on, pushing through the rush of emotion threatening to swallow her. “I am Jiah Yi, from the Moonjang family, a descendant of Korea’s last imperial line. I didn't mean to stir any unrest, but I think it’s time you were knowledgeable. I owe you that much respect,” she continued, her voice wavering with a mixture of anxiety and sincerity.
She bowed again, this time even deeper than before, her body trembling slightly as she stabilized herself. The quiver in her hands reflected the vulnerability of the moment, the weight of the revelation settling on her shoulders. Her heart pounded in her chest, the feeling of being exposed more raw than anything she had ever experienced.
The Queen studied her closely, her sharp yet calm eyes taking in every detail, each movement and shift of Jiah’s expression. The silence in the room stretched on, a moment of anticipation that seemed to last forever. Finally, Queen Elizabeth spoke, her voice steady but carrying a weight of authority that left no room for doubt. “I see,” she said, her gaze unwavering.
Jiah, feeling the pressure of the Queen’s assessment, bit her lip and lowered her eyes to the floor, trying to calm her racing heart. The Queen’s silence pressed down on her like an invisible weight, forcing her to confront the vulnerability she had been trying so desperately to shield.
After what seemed like an eternity, the Queen spoke again, her voice cool and measured, each word filled with authority. “I trust, Albus, there’s a good reason we weren’t knowledgeable of this sooner?”
Albus, ever the skilled diplomat, nodded with understanding. He glanced briefly at Jiah, giving her a reassuring smile before turning his attention back to the Queen. His voice was calm but laced with a hint of regret. “Your Majesty, the delay wasn’t deliberate. There are… complexities with the young lady’s background, as she mentioned. It wasn’t out of disrespect, but rather caution,” Albus explained, his tone protective of both Jiah and the situation.
Jiah’s eyes fell again, the guilt gnawing at her. She knew this wasn’t solely her doing, but it didn’t stop the feeling of responsibility that weighed heavily on her chest. The burden of secrecy felt like a cloak that she could no longer wear, yet she couldn’t shed it either. The thought of the Queen being disappointed in her made her insides twist with unease.
The Queen’s voice snapped her back to the present, sharp and clear. “Caution? You bring a young royal into my court, Albus—one from a lineage thought lost before I was even born,” the Queen remarked, her voice cutting through the tension like a blade. “Look at her, Albus; she’s trembling with worry.”
Albus nodded in understanding, his expression softening as he regarded Jiah. His concern for her was evident, but the Queen’s sharp eyes never left her.
“I can personally vouch for young Jiah,” Albus said firmly, his voice strong yet gentle. The Queen raised an eyebrow, her expression cool but clearly intrigued.
“I’m not saying you can’t vouch for her, Albus,” she replied, narrowing her eyes as she assessed the situation.
Albus shifted slightly, ready to expand on his point, but the Queen wasn’t done yet.
“And, our young Jiah has British roots. Her maternal grandfather happens to be one of my closest friends,” Albus added, his words softening the Queen’s scrutiny.
The Queen’s expression shifted as her curiosity was piqued. She leaned in, her voice softening with a hint of intrigue. “Well, that does shake things up a bit. Do I know him? No, don’t tell me! I rarely get excited about new things these days, so I want to solve this mystery myself. Oh, it's quite thrilling!” The Queen’s genuine curiosity bubbled to the surface, her tone now lighter and more playful, as if the tension in the room had shifted.
"Is there anything else, young Jiah, that I should know? Some folks only share the bare minimum, and that drives me a bit mad,” the Queen added, her tone light yet pointed, turning her sharp gaze on Albus.
Jiah felt a weight lifting from her as she replied, her face brightening at the mention of her youngest brother. “My mother just had my youngest brother at the end of May. He’s the youngest one of the Moonjang boys. She’s feeling a bit peeved with my father,” she admitted, a small chuckle escaping her lips as she spoke of her family.
The Queen leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with interest. “She had hoped for at least one more daughter,” Jiah revealed with a soft smile.
The Queen let out a small laugh. One daughter out of seven, and the middle child at that! Heaven help the poor soul who dared to date the young princess. Three older wizarding princes and three younger ones? She shot a knowing glance at Albus, who seemed to fidget nervously.
Albus cleared his throat and shifted uneasily, but the Queen wasn’t finished.
“You, Albus, are impossible sometimes! Keeping secrets like this! Young Jiah, do you have any of those magical moving pictures of the baby? I’d love to see some! Albus only showed me one picture ages ago,” she said playfully, her eyes shining with interest.
Jiah felt her nerves settle at the Queen’s playful tone and let out a soft chuckle, feeling relieved. “Actually, Your Majesty, I do have some moving pictures of him,” Jiah replied, her smile genuine for the first time since she entered the room.
She reached into her bag and pulled out a small enchanted photo album. The Queen’s eyes sparkled with curiosity, leaning forward eagerly as if waiting for a grand reveal.
“Ah, there it is! I knew there had to be something special in this conversation,” the Queen said, her voice brightening with anticipation.
As Jiah opened the album, a picture appeared of her brother snug in a blanket, his big eyes blinking at the camera. The image sprang to life as the baby waved his tiny hand. The Queen’s face softened, a smile spreading across her features.
“Oh, look at that! He’s just precious! Quite the little charmer already. You must be so proud, young Jiah,” the Queen said, her voice overflowing with affection. Jiah couldn’t help but smile, her heart lifted by the Queen’s warmth, but her tone shifted back to seriousness. “Yes, Your Majesty, we are. But I worry for his safety, which is why we’ve kept him hidden,” she admitted softly.
The Queen turned her gaze back to Albus, her expression more understanding now.
“Well, Albus, I suppose you had your reasons for keeping things under wraps. But no more secrets from now on, alright? I expect to be kept in the loop from here on. It’s just a bit overwhelming to handle all at once,” the Queen said, her tone firm yet gently commanding.
Albus smiled wistfully, nodding in agreement. “Understood, Your Majesty. No more secrets from now on,” he said with a soft chuckle.
The Queen nodded, her thoughts shifting towards more immediate concerns. “Good. Now, let’s dive into strategy. We need to do everything we can to keep the young princess safe—after all, you never know when her heritage might bring some unwanted eyes our way,” the Queen remarked, her voice steady as she focused on Albus.
Jiah nodded, feeling a little more relaxed as the Queen’s attention turned to practical matters. Even though the situation was serious, the lighthearted tone the Queen had set helped ease the tension in the room, bringing Jiah a quiet sense of relief that maybe, just maybe, everything would be alright.
“And next time, Albus, maybe consider sending me an owl before you surprise me with such royal news,” the Queen added with a playful smirk.
Albus chuckled softly, agreeing with a nod. “I’ll remember that, Your Majesty,” he said with a grin.
The atmosphere in the room lightened as the conversation shifted back to strategy. The tension began to fade as they started mapping out a plan to protect the Moonjang family’s only daughter.

Ah! New Glee one-shot with Rachel and Shelby, I've missed them so freaking much! I loved it! <3 But I was wondering would you consider writing something from HP again? Maybe sometimes with Hermione and McGonagall (it doesn't have to be in "canon" universe that she's just her student but CP used to be used at Hogwarts before Albus so maybe they're still on, but it also could he her being Hermione's mum?). I would love to read something about them as I reread your old HP stories :)
Glad you enjoyed the newest story! It felt like coming home writing those two again. I’ve missed them too.
I’m not personally a fan of McGonagall as Hermione’s mom but enjoy spanking stories of her taking Hermione to task, similar to what I’ve written in the past. I’m not sure if I will go back to writing HP stories or not. It’s been years. I haven’t even read the books in 10 years by now. Real life came and now when I read, I want to read new books rather than ones I’ve already read. 🤷🏻♀️

The Thanksgiving Dilemma
Pairing: Professor!Snape x Muggleborn Professor Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluff
Rating: T just because of some suggestive moments.
Warnings: Fluff and nothing but the fluff. A little bit of an age gap though (6 years: you were a first-year as Sev was in his seventh). One bed troupe (couldn’t help myself)
Word Count: 6K+
Summary: You come from a line of muggleborn witches and wizards so magic was nothing new to your family. What was surprising was the tall dark man standing beside you when you came home for Thanksgiving dinner.
A/N: I know I’m late on this, but this is a little inspired by the time I flew all the way home from the UK to surprise my family for Thanksgiving. No one knew I was coming, and no one knew I had a boyfriend. That is until my mom opened the door to see me and this 6-foot white dude standing beside me. If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m into big love declarations LOL.
KEY:
Y/N – your name M/N – mother’s name F/N – father’s name A/N – aunt’s name U/N – uncle’s name B/N – brother’s name S/N – sister’s name C/N – cousin’s name GM/N – grandmother’s name
“You are leaving next Thursday after your afternoon class correct?”
The question made Severus look up from his plate and towards the centre of the table. You nodded your head at Minerva’s question before taking another bite of the roasted chicken everyone was having for dinner. He turned his attention back to his meal but kept his ear open towards your conversation. It wasn’t like he wanted to eavesdrop. Well that was a lie, but he couldn’t help himself. Anything involving you caught his undivided attention.
“Tell me what the purpose of Thanksgiving is again?” Laughing at her question, you pushed aside your finished plate before turning to give your full attention to the elder witch.
“It’s supposed to be a celebration of the past year’s harvest, but truthfully, I think it’s just an excuse to eat a lot of food and dessert with no inhibition.”
Your answer made Minerva laugh and even brought a small smile to Severus’ face. He forgets often that you were American. Having spent your school years in Hogwarts, and the fact that you were now teaching here, you’ve since picked up an accent as well as the mannerisms a long time ago.
The conversation between the two of you continued as you both went for dessert. Severus stood once he was done with his meal and bid the professors beside him a good night, but as he was making his way down the corridor, he heard you call for him.
“Professor Snape! Severus! Sev! Wait!”
He stopped in his tracks and spun around to see you jogging up to where he stood. “Any one of them would suffice Y/N.” He smirked as your face tinged red. Or was that from rushing to catch up with him? Regardless, he thought you looked adorable. “What can I do for you?”
“Do you remember last month when you asked me to gather black beetles for you and I ended up having to fight off that vicious acromantula?”
His voice was laced with humour as he smirked at your choice of words. “If I recall correctly it was a baby one, but yes I do.”
Rolling your eyes, “Still just as deadly. But I digress, you remember how you said you owed me?”
“I do…”, he said cautiously. Where were you going with this?
“Well, I want to cash in on that favour.”
“Oh, alright. I assume you want me to cover your classes while you are gone?”
“What? No,” you shook your head, “Albus promised me that he and Filius will split the classes amongst them already. What I need from you is doubly much worse than teaching my classes.”
Severus’ brows furrowed in confusion. “Okay. Then what is it that you want me to do?”
Instead of answering him you looped your arm with his and pulled him towards the direction of your office. “Let’s talk more in private because I have a feeling you may or may not start yelling at me and these halls are no place to do it.” You laughed at your joke, but he could sense the bit of apprehension behind your words. Like it was possible for him to be angry at you.
He let you drag him until you two reached a solid oak door with a singular gilded nameplate. You moved your arm away from him to remove the locking spells and he immediately missed the sensation. Gesturing to the couch, he took a seat while you went to prepare two mugs of tea. Once you were satisfied with your concoctions you handed the man his before taking a seat across from him. You waited until he took a sip, hummed his satisfaction, and placed the mug down before getting straight to the point.
“I want you to come home with me and pretend to be my boyfriend so my family would stop bugging me about being single.” No sense in tiptoeing around the subject, right?
If he had any liquid in his mouth at the moment, he was sure he would have either choked or spat it out.
“I’m sorry. Can you repeat that?”
“I’m serious Sev! I can’t sit through another family dinner where they ask me the whole night about why I’m not seeing anyone or why I haven’t provided any grandchildren yet. I’ll go absolutely mad so please, please, please! I beg of you. I’ll do anything if you help me out.”
He was flabbergasted, and it took everything in him to not show it. Him? Out of anyone you asked him? “Anything you say?”
“Anything. I’ll clean your cauldrons for a month, fight off more acromantulas, take over your classes. Just please do me this favour.”
“I’ll do it,” his face broke into a grin at how giddy you became as he agreed, “I’ll get back to you about what I want in return.”
“Done. Oh, thank you!” Jumping from your seat, you wrapped your arms around his torso for a quick hug before rushing out of your office. “You can lock up when you’re done! I’m going to tell Albus to find someone to cover your classes too. Thank you again and pack warmly!”
Before he could form a response, you were already out the door.
Merlin. What did I just get myself into?
The rest of the week passed by too quickly for both Severus and you. For you, it was because you weren’t sure how this whole façade was going to go. For Severus, well, he couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that he would have to pretend to be your boyfriend even if it was only for four days. What would he have to do? Would he have to kiss you?! Just as he was starting to overthink and panic, a knock on his chamber door brought him out of his thoughts. He shook his head to clear it before opening the door. There you stood with your suitcase levitating behind you. You were out of your teaching robes and instead donned a muggle outfit. Looking at you in a hoodie and jeans, he suddenly felt out of place. “I suppose I should change to something more casual.”
“Probably. You already know my family is no stranger to magic and how we dress, but I would recommend something more muggle as I have a feeling my family would want to go into town or something.”
Leaving the door open for you to walk in, he walked back into his bedroom to change. You settled yourself onto his small loveseat as you waited.
“I packed most of my muggle clothing away into my bag already, so I hope this will do”, he said as he walked back into the living room to see you seated by the fire.
You turned your attention away from the green flames that lit the space to Severus and you had to blink twice to make sure it was him you were seeing at not some lucid dream version. You have never seen Severus outside of anything but his frock coats and teaching robes, so to see him in a black button-up, slacks, and a BROWN trench coat, your brain stopped working properly. Severus made his way in front of you and waved his hand over your eyes a few times to snap you back to reality. “Are you okay Y/N? Is this alright to wear to dinner?”
“Uh yeah– yeah! It’s great. You look great,” wishing you could take the shoe out of your mouth, you shrunk yours and his luggage and pocketed them into the safety of your coat, “We’re going to apparate there if that’s good with you. It’ll take us four apparations but I promise I won’t splinch us.”
“How comforting,” Severus drawled, “I’ve never been to America before, so I would appreciate a little heads up as to the lion’s den that I am walking into.”
“Are you insulting my family?”
He immediately started stammering to correct himself but all you did in return was laugh. “I’m kidding Sev. If anything, I’m inclined to agree with you. My family is big, loud, and hectic. I’m sure that we’ll barely get a word in edgewise with how much they talk.”
Severus glared at you but was glad when his heart started beating again. “You’re mean you know that?”
“That’s not what the students say.”
“The students don’t know you as I do.”
Gods did this man know how to make you blush. “Let’s get a move on. My mom will have a fit if I’m late to dinner.”
Severus followed your lead up the dungeon stairs and through the halls of the castle. It wasn’t until the two of you stepped foot onto the green grass the covered the grounds that he asked another question.
“So, tell me Y/N. What exactly would I have to do as your ‘boyfriend’ and is there anything I should know before we get there?”
The sun had just started to set and began to cast a warm glow on your bodies. You thought for a bit, chewing on your bottom lip. Severus turned his attention to you when you didn’t answer right away and he felt his heart stop again. The way you bit your lip unknowingly made him feel more red-faced than he would admit, even to himself. I’m going to die sooner than later with how my body reacts to everything she does. His eyes drifted down to where your teeth were gently biting into the soft rosy flesh of your bottom lip. He finally pulled his gaze back to the path when your tongue came out to lick the soreness away, leaving a sheen of saliva that he wished was left from placing a kiss from him instead.
“Well, I’ve talked about my family a bit to you already. But to recap, my mother’s name is M/N, dad is D/N, and my two siblings B/N and S/N, B/N being the oldest and S/N the youngest. We’re headed to my aunt’s place in upstate New York since it’s big enough to hold all my family there for the holidays, but my immediate family and I are from the city. You’ll probably learn everyone else’s names when we get there. Other than that, just follow my lead and you should be fine. As for how we’ll act I don’t expect you to kiss me or anything,” though I really want to Severus thought, “but I think we should hold hands, sit next to each other, and stay close to one another. You can even put your arm around me or something to sell it. Oh, and magic is okay with everyone since half my family members are muggleborns.”
“Okay, sounds reasonable. I don’t wish to do anything to make you feel uncomfortable so if I do something during our stay there that you want me to stop, please let me know.”
You nodded your head in agreement, “same goes for you. Even if it is all fake I do hope you’ll have a good time with me and my family. All things considered, at least know you’ll get an amazing meal out of this.”
Severus looked away briefly and smiled. Every time I’m with you is incredible. Too bad he didn’t know that you felt the same way about him.
“I look forward to it, genuinely. I am curious though, would your parents be okay with me being much older than you?”
You swiftly thumped him in the chest with the back of your hand which he countered with a stunned ‘hey’. “First of all, you are not that much older than me. I was at Hogwarts the same time you were,” you held your finger up when he tried to cut you off, “yes, I was a first-year while you were in your last, but still. Secondly, if they do have a problem they can take it up with me. I am an adult and am free to date, or fake date, whoever I please.”
As you two trekked your way to the front gates, you continued to answer a few more questions he had. The sound of the hinges on the gates creaked as you pushed them open effectively putting a halt to the conversation you were having.
Walking out onto the leaf-covered path, Severus turned to close the metal doors. As he turned to face you, he was frozen in place by the feeling of your warm fingers intertwining with his colder ones. He bent his head to look at you, the last light of the day hitting your eyes making them dance. You offered him a smile with he mirrored.
“Ready?”
“As I’ll ever be.”
The trip to your aunt’s cabin was quick and straightforward. You and Severus had managed to travel the 6 thousand some kilometres with only one bout of nausea on Severus’ end (which you teased him about until he threatened to get sick on you) and a quick rest break for tea in Canada. Now you and he stood at the top steps of the house. The time difference as you travelled was noticeable as the sky here was now bright and shining. Just behind the oak door, you could hear the hushed sounds of your family talking and moving about. The faint noise of music mingled with the mix. You looked to Severus one last time, and at his nod, you brought your closed fist up to knock.
The sound of shuffling feet became louder as someone approached the door. You heard your mom call out to the rest of the family about your arrival, but her words fell short when she noticed Severus standing beside you. “It’s probably just Y/N. She’s the only one that’s– .“
You could hear how awkward Severus must feel at your mom’s stare by the shuffling of his feet, but you were too nervous yourself to look anywhere else but straight ahead.
“Hi, mom. I hope you don’t mind but I brought my boyfriend this time. Figured it was a good way for him to meet everyone.”
“Boyfriend!?!” The echo of your mom’s yell caused the chatter amongst the house to fall still which made your face redden worse than it was before. Severus’ was a faint shade of rose as well but his was solely from you addressing him as yours and by gods did he love it.
Trying not to embarrass anyone more, you turned your mom around and walked into the threshold, Sev trailing behind and closing the door. “Yes, mom. Boyfriend. Is it that surprising since everyone has been begging me to bring someone home the second I turned 18?”
Your mom swiftly turned back around before you guys could walk any further into the house. Gesturing to you, “Which was 5 years ago! We figured you were just too embarrassed by us to bring anyone around.”
“Well, I am embarrassed by you all, but not enough to not bring anyone around,” you snickered and while your mom gave you a swift thwack, you could make out a quiet chuckle from Severus. “In all seriousness mom, I just haven’t met anyone I thought was important enough to meet you guys, but now I have.”
You turned your smile towards him which he softly returned. Your mom beamed at the sight of the two of you but decided to ignore you and instead focused on Severus. “Where are my manners,” she stuck her hand out for him to shake, “What’s your name honey?"
“Severus Mrs L/N,” he gave back as he placed his palm in your mom’s.
“Oh, please call be M/N.” Instead of releasing his hand after the shake, your mom decided to embarrass you again and tugged Severus by his hand towards the kitchen. He looked back at you and you could make out the slight panic in his eyes. You mouthed your apologies and followed them into the room which, by all accounts, smelled like heaven on earth. It wasn’t until everyone’s attention turned to the three of you that your mom finally released her grip on Sev. The warmth didn’t escape for long, however, as you slipped your hand in his for comfort. Whether for his or yours, he didn’t know but he certainly didn’t mind either.
“Hi everyone,” you cut into the sudden silence, “I want you to meet Severus, and as you probably already heard from my loud mom, he’s my boyfriend. Severus, this is my grandma GM/N, aunt A/N, uncle U/N, sister S/N, brother B/N, and cousins C/N and C/N. The others are probably in the family room watching the parade.”
They exchanged pleasantries, but you could see that scepticism in your brother’s eyes. Ignoring it, you tugged Severus along to the other room where the other half of your family was. The entrance you walked in faced the backs of everyone. They seemed to be too preoccupied with the television anyways, that is until your littlest cousin started to wriggle in your father’s arms. At her noises, the lot turned your way and you gave a wave with the hand that wasn’t holding onto Sev. “Hello everyone. This is Severus.” You went around pointing and naming everyone until you reached the end of the room which held your father and baby cousin in an armchair, “… my father F/N and this,” you released your hand from Sev to snag the wriggling baby from your dad’s arms, “is C/N.” At the mention of their name, they began to giggle and flail their hands some more.
Severus shook hands with everyone but when he reached his hand out to your father he ignored it instead and stood up, no doubt trying to appear more intimidating. “How old are you exactly?”
“DAD!” you cut in, but Sev just held his hand up to stop you. “It’s alright Y/N,” he said to you before turning his attention back to your father.
“I am 29 sir.”
That answer certainly did not please your dad as his face turned angrier. “Don’t you think you’re a little old to be dating my daughter?” This time you didn’t try to say anything as you were too stunned to anyways. It seemed as if the question didn’t surprise Severus though, as he responded right away.
“I know I may be older than Y/N, but I care deeply for her. She is the single best person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and I am grateful to be the man she chooses. I promise you sir that I would never do anything to hurt her. She deserves someone who will give her the world and I’m willing to steal the moon if she asked that of me.”
Your father narrowed his eyes at Severus. No one dared to cut in and the only sound made was coming from the TV. The baby in your arms seemed to understand the tension of the situation as they stayed quiet too. You had to admit though, the things that Severus said filled you with joy. Even if the words he was saying were fake, a woman could dream, right?
“How exactly did the two of you meet?”
“I knew Y/N from when we both attended Hogwarts. It was not until she began to teach at there that we became close friends and eventually began to date.”
After a few moments of silence, your father finally stuck his hand out for Severus which he graciously accepted. “I hope you’re hungry Severus. My wife and her sister have been cooking up a storm since the crack of dawn.”
“I look forward to trying everything.”
C/N began to squirm in your arms again but this time it seemed they were more interested in Severus and started to lean over and open their arms to him.
“Hey Sev, I think C/N wants you to hold them.”
Severus stiffened at the thought, “I– um, are you sure? I’ve never held a child before.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at how nervous he sounded. It was quite adorable if you had to say so. “You’ll be fine. Just place your arm here,” you gestured to your arm which was tucked under the lower half of their body, “and you can place your other arm over the torso if you want as well.” You shifted your cousin into Severus’ arms and made sure he had a secure hold on them before completely moving away. The sight of him holding onto your baby cousin made your heart melt and you couldn’t help the grin when they started to grab onto his cheeks.
“See, you’re a natural.” He rolled his eyes at you but smiled nonetheless.
The next few hours were spent in good cheer as the two of you spent more time with your family. You occasionally helped in the kitchen, but Severus was stuck on babysitting duty as C/N seemed to not want anyone else's company. You offered to take over, so he didn’t have to keep holding them, but he was quick to dismiss you. He liked keeping C/N company and you couldn’t complain as it was a view you could get used to.
As Severus was reading to C/N in another room to try and get them down for a nap, you were helping toss together a salad in the kitchen.
“So, Severus seems really good with kids.”
You turned your head to your grandmother and couldn’t stop the laugh that came out of you. “You should see him at Hogwarts then. He always comes to complain about how annoying or stupid the students are being.”
Your mom who was stirring something on the stove chimed in. “Well, he seems amazing with C/N. And I’m sure he’d be totally different with your own children.”
“Mom!” you exasperated, “we haven’t been dating long enough to say ‘I love you’, let alone talk about kids!”
“Oh, but it’s so clear that he does sweetie,” your aunt nodded her head in agreement, “and there’s no denying that you love him. I can see it in the way you look at him.”
You couldn’t disagree with your mom because everything she said about you was true. You really wish you had the nerve to tell him how you felt, but you couldn’t imagine him seeing you more than anything but a friend.
You were brought out of your thoughts by the timer on the oven going off. “Why don’t you go get Severus. Dinner is about ready and your cousins are already setting up the table.
“Ok, mom.” You gave your hands a quick wipe with a dish towel and made your way to the nursery up the stairs. When you reached the top steps, the sounds of your family dampened and as you approached the door that was just creaked open, you could make out a quiet hum. You pushed the door gently to avoid making any loud noises and as the light from the hall began to flood into the room, you spotted Severus in a rocking chair singing softly to C/N as they laid asleep on his chest. His eyes looked up towards you and you were rendered a puddle at such a sight.
“Hey, are they asleep?”
“Yeah, they have been for a while.”
You brushed a lock of his hair out of his face once you were standing in front of them and he swore your hand lingered for a second before pulling away.
“Why didn’t you just place them in the crib then?”
His cheeks turned a pale pink as he looked down at the sleeping baby. “I was afraid to move and wake them up.”
Your smile widened and you chuckled under your breath, “That’s sweet Severus, but once C/N is asleep, anything short of yelling will only wake them.” You slipped your hands under C/N, ignoring the warmth coming from Sev, and moved them into the crib. Once you were sure C/N was comfortable and still fast asleep, you offered your hand out for Severus to hold. You ignored the butterflies in your stomach once again as his long fingers interlocked with yours. You’re going to be holding his hand all weekend, get a grip on yourself.
“I hope you’re ready to eat. Dinner’s ready and there is enough food to feed an army.”
“Starved. This whole house has smelled amazing since we’ve walked in.”
“Perfect,” you threw a smirk his way before bringing your eyes back front.
Just like you, he thought. Oh did he have it bad.
The food was all perfectly laid out in the kitchen and Severus was right, it all looked and smelled delightful. Your whole family shuffled in and piled food onto their plates, you and Severus followed along with you explaining each dish to him. After grabbing a little bit of everything, you guys made your way to the dining room and grabbed the two remaining seats left at the table.
As you were settling into your seat your cousin’s boyfriend held up a pitcher and gestured to your glass. “Y/N would you like some apple cider with your meal?”
“Oh, no thank you. I’m– ”
“She’s allergic to apples.” Your head snapped towards Severus, surprised that he knew that. The other man apologised, and you shook your head, “No worries. You didn’t know.”
You leaned into Sev and whispered into his ear, “How did you know I was allergic?” He just shrugged, grabbing the bottle of white wine that was your favourite, before pouring you and him a glass. Whether or not he knew that it was your favourite or if it was just because it was the closest bottle, you’ll never know.
Everyone ate with gusto savouring every bite of the food that was offered. Laughter filled the air and you relished the time you spent with your family. Not to mention the man who sat beside you laughing at the stories your uncle had to tell him about your childhood. The evening passed faster than expected and soon enough it was time for everyone to turn in for the night. The house was big enough to hold everyone comfortably, so you and Severus made your rounds saying goodnight. As you were off talking to your aunt, your mom decided to pull him aside.
“I hoped you enjoyed yourself, Severus.”
“I did. The food was amazing. I must thank you for letting me stay and enjoy it all.”
“Nonsense. You're always welcomed here. In fact, if you have no other plans, you must come for Christmas. We have the grandest time celebrating and doing various winter activities. Going into town to look at Christmas lights especially.”
He was honestly quite floored at how accepting your mom was being of him, but chose not to question it too much. He was content knowing your family liked him enough to want him around again. “That sounds wonderful.”
He was once again caught off guard as she then envelopes him in a hug. “I’m happy Y/N has found someone like you. I can see how much you love her.” As she pulls away, he admits to her what he can’t even admit to you yet.
“I do. With all my heart.”
She gave him a watery smile in response. “Take care of her for me, will you?”
He gave your mom his word and they bid each other sweet dreams.
Severus headed to the room that the two of you were staying in for the weekend and was greeted with the sight of you in a silk nightgown rifling through your luggage. He stopped at the doorway unable to move his limbs. You were absolutely stunning to him and every time he thought you couldn’t get more beautiful, you proved him wrong. Once you found what you were looking for you turned around and that was when you noticed him standing there.
“Hey, I’m just going to brush my teeth, so you can get changed while I do that.” You left the room, closing the door behind you, and he was brought out of his trance. It wasn’t until he was in a pair of grey pyjama pants and a black t-shirt that he realised there was only one bed. Oh no, oh no, oh no. We can’t share a bed… can we? Well, it’s not like I have much of a choice do I. Does she expect me to share the bed with her? Should I sleep on the floor?
“Hey, you okay?”
He jumped slightly startled by your voice, “I’m sorry, what?”
“I came in, said the bathroom was free now, and you just stood there. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Sorry, I just spaced out. I’ll be right back.”
He grabbed his toothbrush and headed out of the room before he could embarrass himself some more. The second he was out of your line of sight you fell back onto the bed and sighed. Today was one of the best days you’ve had in a long time. Being with family always made you feel better, but there was something magical about having Severus around to revel in the joy too. Seeing him talk and interact with your family willingly, the care he took when handling your baby cousin, and the pure smile that sat on his face most of the night. All these things that you wished you could experience for more than just this weekend while you guys play make-believe. This little glimpse at Severus as more than a friend was enough to fill and break your heart at the same time, knowing that the second you leave America, everything will go back to how it was. Don’t get me wrong, being friends with Severus is amazing. But imagine being able to love him like that, openly and freely?
You flipped to lay on your stomach to let another groan out into your pillow before getting yourself together and slipping underneath the blue plaid covers the guestroom provided. You had turned off the main ceiling light, but the light coming in through the window from the moon shone bright enough to bask everything in a peaceful glow. You propped yourself up onto the headboard with a book that you had found in the nightstand to wait for your bed buddy.
Severus stood looking at himself in the bathroom mirror longer than he probably should have. His mind was still going a hundred kilometres a minute, but he couldn’t just stay in there the whole night. Flicking the switch to turn the lights off, he headed back towards the bedroom and noticed how dark it now was. His hopes that you had fallen asleep were thrown out the door when he made out your figure and by merlin, you took his breath away. Bathed in the moonlight, you looked simply ethereal. Your hair had a soft halo surrounding it and the way you had tugged on your lower lip as you read could have him on his knees faster than a prayer.
Deciding that he’d been a creep long enough, he closed the door with a soft click. Walking to his side of the bed, he slid in under the covers, staying as close to the edge as possible to avoid touching you.
“What are you reading?”
You shut the book with an audible snap and turned it over to read the title. Furrowing your brows, you placed the book on the nightstand before facing him. “Some book called Twilight? From the blurb apparently, it’s a romance novel about vampires or something along those lines.”
It was his turn to be confused now. Raising that full brow of his, “Is that yours?”
Chuckling because you could feel the judgement coming from Severus, “Oh gods no. I think it’s my cousin’s. She usually stays in this room.”
“Good. Because vampires are no beings to be messed with. Does your family not know this?”
“They do. My cousin, who I think this belongs to, is a witch. I just think that they don’t care when it comes to what they read.”
Severus nodded his head, not really understanding still, but not wanting to comment more on the topic.
The room was silent except for the cricket’s song that carried into the room. Fidgeting with your fingers, you weren’t sure if you should just bid each other good night or what. Coughing to clear your throat, “I’m sorry my family was a lot today. They can be nosy. I’m especially sorry for what my dad said. I had no idea that he was going to react that way.” You began to pick at your lip, a nervous habit you had that he noticed.
He placed his hand on top of yours to stop your assault and you took some comfort in the contact. “It was a little overwhelming at first, I will admit. As you know, I never had a big or loving family growing up, so this was all very new to me. But, seeing how quickly your family accepted me and took their time to get to know me, it was very reassuring. As for your father, he was just being protective, and I cannot fault the man. You know I was a bit weary of our age difference going into this, but I’m glad that you have a father that is willing to look out for you like that. Yes, I was overwhelmed, but overwhelmed in the best way possible.”
You flipped your hand over to tangle your fingers with his. Stroking your thumb in a tender caress, you let his words sink in. “I’m glad you felt comfortable with my family. You are always welcome to come back with me. You are just as much part of this family now. Especially since I’m sure my mom loves you more than she loves me.”
The smirk on Severus’ face is evident as he chuckles. “Apparently so. Your mom invited me back come Christmas time. Said that I must go see the lights with you all. I’m also terribly intrigued by the pond your uncle mentioned you had used to learn how to figure skate with. Now that is something I would love to see.”
Your face tints at his teasing tone. “I’m sure there are plenty of better things to see than that.” You turn to cast your eyes to the side, but the feeling of a hand brought your stare back to connect with his deep midnight orbs. “I want to learn everything about you.” Severus took a deep breath. It’s now or never. “From where you grew up to how you look when you first wake up in the mornings.”
You parted your lips to say something, but you could barely process his words as the hand that still had a hold of your cheek now began a tender stroking motion. His thumb traced the outline of your bottom lip and you were sure your brain short-circuited.
“I want to know how soft your mouth would feel against mine. How it would feel for you to nibble on my lower lip instead of your own. I want to know what you taste like, what you would sound like in the throes of pleasure.”
“S-Sev?”
“I know I am beyond out of line here Y/N, but I’ve been holding this in for far too long. Seeing you today with your family and spending the past couple of hours as your boyfriend made me realise just how much I want all of that, all of you, for real. Say the words and I’ll stop if you want me to.” He brought his other hand up to cup both sides of your face. You could feel the warmth of his breath fanning against yours.
“What if I don’t want you to stop?”
He leaned in till his forehead made contact with yours. His eyes fluttered closed and you could just make out the slight tremor in his hands. “Then I feel obligated to tell you how deeply, truly, madly in love I am with you. Y/N, I have been in love with you for as long as I could remember. I love all aspects I know about you now, and I love being surprised by new things the longer I know you. The way your eyes crinkle when you let out a full-bellied laugh. How you take too much milk and sugar in your tea. The way you’ll belt out and dance to a song even if you don’t know it. I find it utterly endearing. You exuberate radiance where ever you go, and you always know how to leave me with a smile no matter the day I am having.”
Stunned into silence, you brought your own hands up to his cheeks. He opened his eyes the moment he felt your soft hands encapsulate his flushed skin. Glancing into his eyes, you hoped to convey everything that your mind was going through but your voice had failed to say. Leaning your mouth closer till there was barely a breath between the two of you, you looked for any signs of hesitance.
The moment your lips made contact with his, the dam broke. Years of unspoken words and feelings came to light as you threaded your fingers into his black silk tresses. As you moved your mouth in rhythm with his, your body shifted to half lay over him. The heat that radiated off his body was a surprising contrast to his normally chilled hands. The need for air finally broke the kiss, but it didn’t stop him from stealing a few more pecks.
“I must tell you in return that you– Severus, you overwhelm me in the most wonderful way.” You pulled away just enough to see his whole face. “Whenever you are around it’s as if all my thoughts cease to exist and there is only you. The simplest of your touches render me without breath. Severus, you have no idea how long I have been waiting, hoping, to hear that you felt the same way that I did about you.”
Draping an arm over you to pull you in closer, he released a deep sigh before burying his head into the crook of your neck. “Make me the happiest man in the world Y/N.”
Wrapping your arms to hold him as close as you can, you understood the implication of his words.
“I love you, Severus.”
As if he was basking in your declaration, his grip tightened after a few minutes. Without looking up, he shifted so what he said would not be muffled.
"I think I know what I want in return for helping you out this weekend."
You ran your hand through his hair once again, loving the feel of his locks. "Yeah? What's that?"
"I want to take you out on a date when we get back to London."
Giggling at his antics, you bent down to steal another kiss from his lips. "Just name a time and place, darling, and I'll be there."

9/10 A good story, but nothing makes it stand out to me. Young Harry is cute, and Snape and Harry’s interactions when he’s his older self is really funny. The sequel, The Definition of Family definitely adds to the story and makes it much better.

49K WIP Ao3
POA, Severitus, Sirius/Remus
When Harry runs away after blowing up Aunt Marge, Severus picks him up from the Leaky Cauldron and takes him in.
9/10 The first work is quite short, but the sequel, Blackberry Tart is quite good. Sirius and Remus have a very adorable relationship and having Sirius and Severus have to get along for Harry’s well-being is a fun interaction.
- Arms of a Dark Angel
By Snapegirlkmf
232K COMPLETE FFnet
PS, Severitus, Rewrite
Before Lily died, Severus made a promise to take care of Harry but to not let anyone know. Throughout his childhood, any time Harry was sick, Severus would take care of him. It wasn’t until Harry’s first year at Hogwarts that he finally figures out who his Dark Angel is.
9/10 A really good story. The way Severus take care of Harry as a child is adorable and I love how Harry warms up to Severus once he figures out who he is.

Tell me about one of your OCs. Please.
Bro you're really gonna do this to me....okay, prepare for a long-ass response:
So my first ever OC was a vampire, because yes, I was that kid. Her full name is Evangeline Erin Corãn.
Her mother was a vampire, and her father was a human wizard. (I haven't quite figured out names for them, but oh well, we'll get there eventually) Her brother, Albus ended up taking after his father; soon becoming a world renowned sorcerer (and recognized military expert once he joined in the Hybrid war)
A little backstory on each of the parents:
Mother belonged to a family of 12. There was a mother, father, 8 sisters, and 2 brothers. In this vampire community, males were used as breeders; once they sired a litter of children, they were used as hunting practice for the little ones, and eventually killed off. If any boys were born, they would be kept around until they were mature enough to reproduce. Another tradition within this community was the "Battle of thy Brethren" which stated that, only 1 daughter could remain per generation - only 1 girl could carry the family's mantle. So Evangeline's mother had to compete against the 8 other girls within her family in order to survive.
It kind of broke her, not having a father, her mother being a terrible person, and then having to murder her other sisters just so she could survive. After her win, she ran away, not wanting to accept what she had done. While on the run, she met Evangeline's father, who was an absolute romantic and eventually won over her heart. She got pregnant - thought it was only with Evangeline, went back to her mother in hopes that her mother would accept her husband and allow traditions to change, mother ignored her until she gave birth,
lookie there, it's a boy and a girl!
Her mother tried to take away Albus- she was furious, mother threatened to kill husband, so she killed mother.
Ending result?: Trauma
Now onto the Father!:
Dad lived pretty normal life. He was a doorstep baby and was raised by 2 witches. He learned very early on that family doesn't have to be by blood, it's about love and those who can look beyond what you appear to be, and make you feel safe.
He was a very curious child and took a large interest in what his mother's were. So they taught him all they knew and watched him as he grew from a little boy, learning little bits of magic, into a masterful wizard who would use his newfound gifts to help spread joy around the world.
(One of the things he would do while courting Evangeline's mom, was constantly summoning bouquets of flowers from thin air to give to her. Bro had rizz.)
He met Evangeline's mom on his way to another town. He was in the middle of his exploration arc.
(Bro just wanted to explore the world and bam, hit with the power of love.)
Fast forward to Evangeline and Albus as young adults:
Evangeline and her mother do not have a good relationship, mainly because her mother was constantly pushing her to be as strong as possible, fearing that the past would come back to haunt them. Evangeline was jealous of her brother, feeling like he had more freedom to do whatever he wanted, while she had to become what she referred to as a "backup bodyguard." Outside of that, it was a loving family unit. Her father continued to use his magic for funny little pranks that he would involve both Evangeline and Albus in, regardless of how old they got.
(Adorable little side note: The dad would refer to Evangeline as his "little angel" The dad definitely had everyone's hearts - including mine)
Unfortunately I'm a terrible person, so here comes the angst-
A military team in charge of monitoring supernatural entities decided that the vampire community Evangeline's mother had belonged to was too dangerous to be allowed to continue on and decided to hunt down and kill everyone associated with them.
Evangeline and her family are surrounded, they all ready themselves to fight-
(I always think of the dad as Wanda Maximoff in this moment lmao)
Fight breaks out, Evangeline gets into the thick of it, and in this moment thanks her mother for preparing her. Dad ends up getting captured, uses magic to catch himself on fire, severely damaging the 3 soldiers who had ahold of him. Another soldier shoots him in the head, killing him immediately. The mother goes berserk, wiping out more than half of the soldiers, before a barrage of bullets finally puts her down. Albus and Evangeline both finish up the rest of the soldiers and rush over to their mother who is struggling to breathe, but will still survive.
Unfortunately, a second squad shows up as backup. Evangeline and Albus are told to run. Mother gets finished off and Evangeline picks up her brother and takes off. They both go into hiding for a few years.
Albus finally decides to finish his studying and goes back to his father's mage college. He buries himself in the work, aiming to be the strongest he can.
Evangeline blamed herself for not being strong enough, for not being a good enough weapon to save her parents. So she pushed herself to be harder, better, faster, stronger. After she felt she was ready, she set off to take down every single soldier involved in her parents death.
And that's my baby. My very first!
NOW UR OBLIGATED TO TELL ME ABOUT ONE OF YOURS!!
