WHITE LILY

Lee-coded. Actually a solid switch imo

Does not laugh. Giggles or yelps/squeaks/screams with little huffs of air in-between. Always feels embarrassed about this. Ofc her friends love it and think its cute+funny.

Obviously the closest with Pure Vanilla. A childhood of going after each-other led to continued comfort with mischief after things settled down in Beast-Yeast, and she would still poke at him + get poked in return whenever they took downtime.

Not so much a cuddly person, leans more into the mad scientist trope tbh. A little silly about "finding out weaknesses". We love a woman in STEM i guess

Does not experience lee moods, does experience ler moods. Most especially for the Ancients, but also for other cookies she's grown close to over time (Elder Faerie forever in our hearts)

PURE VANILLA

Also lee-coded. Actually ler-leaning! But absolutely enjoys being a lee as well.

Soft laughter. Even his belly laughter is soft and gentle and melodic and it is impossible to Not be smitten with him. What the fuck is it with this blonde boy.

Constantly worried about overstepping. While the Ancients definitely used to play around in their hayday, he was very hesitant to start anything as they slowly reunited and rarely made the first move. Even now, he hesitates sometimes before going for it.

Soft tickler, wants his lee to be happy. On the other side, however, he just wants to be wrecked within an inch of his life tbh. Make his brain shut down, thinking and remembering is so stressful, make him feel young again.

Constantly experiencing lee and ler moods but the king of masking that shit. You would not know. (Shadow Milk probably knows. White Lily also knows.)

HOLLYBERRY

Switch queen and unafraid to admit it. Bravest of the Ancients for that.

Hollyberry never does things by halves. Her laughter is rich and full, strong belly-cackles and squeals and snorts.

Not afraid to admit when she's having fun! Very much the type to go "Come on, is that all you've got?!" in the middle of howling up a storm under someone's fingers.

A little bad at checking in, though. The most likely of the Ancients to get carried away, usually has to be keyed in by one of the others and is always very apologetic and cuddly afterwards to make up for going overboard.

Actually doesn't experience moods often at all. But, having said that, the first thing she did upon being reunited with each Ancient individually was scoop them up in a bone-crushing hug and squeeze their sides just because she missed their laughter.

DARK CACAO

Switch with a twist.... His moods swing back and forth like a pendulum. One day he could be in a ler mood, eyeing up anyone like a predator and debating on if he should go for it. The next he could be suffering from the worst side tingles known to man (or cookie, in this case). Either way, he's so stoic that most people wouldn't know the difference.

Mostly soft chuckles and huffs until you hit juuuuust the right spot. Then he crumbles into rough cackles, interspersed with soft coughs (his voice and lungs don't get much working out like this, after all.)

A lot more cuddly and clingy afterwards, softer than anyone could expect. Shockingly the king of aftercare, though he doesn't talk too much.

He doesn't see any shame in being ticklish, but he doesn't like to talk about it, either. When teased about it, he offers little reaction aside from something along the lines of "In fact, most cookies are. Are they not?"

Long-game player. If the Ancients got in tickle fights, he hunkered down until everyone else tired themselves out and ended up coming out on top. We gotta respect a sentinel.

GOLDEN CHEESE

The lerest of the ler.

Loud, shrieking cackles interspersed with curses and threats the whole time. Kicks, flails, will hurt her ler and be unapologetic about it (she'll make up for it with gifts or acts of service after the fact. Begrudgingly icing bruises and remarking about how she's being so generous for treating someone who ASSAULTED her.)

ABSOLUTELY HATES!!!! Being a lee she SWEARS she hates it. She hates being so weak. She's the Golden Sovreign! Strong and powerful! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER -

She's a bit of a mean ler at first, but it almost always ends up simmering down to more affectionate, doting jabs and jeers when she wrecks someone. Not the best at aftercare, but she will summon Cheesebirds (or order someone else around) to get refreshments or start fanning while she holds a recovering lee.

Really, she just likes to see people smile. She's fully aware of how vulnerable someone has to allow themself to be to submit to that, and she doesn't take that lightly at all.

So. Bulkhead goes underappreciated because he's fat. We've talked about it before to no end. But you know who else goes criminally underappreciated probably because he's on the bigger side?

fuckign. Breakdown.

It took a long time for me to even realize Breakdown is underappreciated. I mean, he's in a lot of fics, and he's in easily the third most popular ship in the continuity, only beaten by the big two. Plus, he's less so "fat" like Bulkhead and more along the lines of buff, but I still think that's a factor especially when you consider the little red elephant in the room.

Knock Out is everywhere. KOBD is obviously his most popular ship, but when you go on Knock Out's tag on tumblr and just scroll, you'll also find your fair share of KOSS, plus a decent amount of art of just Knock Out. And I'm 90% sure you can find at least a little bit of Knock Out with Literally Any other bot on the show outside of like, the dead one-offs and the extra predacons from the movie. Hell, they don't even need to be in TFP for Knock Out to fuck 'em, sometimes.

You go on Breakdown's tag, It's all KOBD.

It's all KOBD.

I don't dislike KOBD. It's some good shit, they're two very good looking bots with a fun dynamic. But it really feels like the only aspect of Breakdown that anyone has any interest in exploring is his relationship with Knock Out. And a lot of the time it feels like people aren't even exploring that, they're just using Breakdown as a generic boyfriend at best and a portable spike at worst.

Even from people who aren't necessarily into KOBD, there's this sorta perception that that's all there really is to Breakdown, as if his only role in the show is being Knock Out's assistant, but that's really not the case. I'd even go as far as to argue that between their introduction and Breakdown's death they spend about as much screentime apart as they do together. But you wouldn't think so, given how even when Prime!Breakdown appears in the IDW continuities, it is exclusively as Knock Out's conjunx, with literally nothing else to him. (His wiki page was even called "Knock Out's unnamed conjunx" for a while since before MLP / IDW2 they never referred to him by name because G1 Breakdown also existed in IDW1.)

and it just sucks because there is more to Breakdown than being Knock Out's husband. He's got history with Bulkhead and the Wreckers, he's got his technically-connected-by-toy-bios past in WFC where he was originally in a smaller frame and mentally unwell, and later on got the bigger frame which seemed to fix his mental state (hello, trans narrative? Beefy trans man yes please?), he's sympathetic to the Vehicons, it looked for a minute like he might join the Autobots, it looked for a minute like he might join Starscream, hell if you really want to go there (though I see why most people don't) you have that line about him being intrigued by Airachnid before she killed him. There's stuff you can do with him that doesn't involve the red twunk!!!!!

Even in terms of pure fanon they can't seem to look past Knock Out. In terms of backstory, you could do ex-Wrecker Breakdown, and really flesh out what his past with Bulkhead was, or have him be a former miner, explaining his sympathy towards unthanked laborers, or you could even pull from G1 and have the Stunticons be a thing, show how he ended up leaving them and finding himself. (and yes, all of these scenarios, especially the latter, could end up leading to / involving KOBD, but part of my point here is that I've been lead to not have much faith in KOBD fics / posts really giving Breakdown this kinda time of day.) But so often I see people going with Velocitronian Breakdown for his backstory, partially because that's what the comics did, but even that argument ties back into people not really seeing Breakdown as anything without Knock Out.

You even see people treating Breakdown as lesser than Knock Out in the fiction, implying Knock Out is somehow out of his league even though A: Breakdown is hot as fuck, just look at him, and B: Both times Knock Out does flirt with someone, he says they still come second to Breakdown! He's saying that to Starscream and Optimus, probably the two most lusted after bots by the fandom barring himself! On a meta level given his underappreciation by the fandom I can sometimes appreciate this trope as something Breakdown himself worries about, meanwhile Knock Out is like how could you possibly think that, you make my pussy explode just looking at you, but even then it gets a little tiring.

and you basically never see Breakdown shipped with anyone else in TFP. We've talked before about the experience of hitting the bottom of the Bulkjack tag fast, but the BreakBulk / Hammertime tags are even more slim pickings (of course, since that's compounding both him and Bulkhead being slept on, but at least people are catching onto Bulkhead now), and Breakdown/Starscream without Knock Out is slimmer still, even though we so easily could have seen things end up with at least a period of Breakdown and Starscream being rogue cons together while Knock Out is still on the Nemesis, if Breakdown wasn't killed off.

even KOBDSS isn't as popular as you'd think, and I think l've mentioned before how I feel like Breakdown is kinda the key to making that relationship work, and how KOSS is kinda set up to be doomed without him or a substitute (Optimus). He's so important to making that relationship work, but again, I see him so often being made into basically just an accessory for them.

idk, it just bugs me, man. Obviously it's not quite the same situation as with Bulkhead, but it's still just disappointing seeing people say "man, Breakdown had so much potential, it's a shame they killed him off" and being like "yeah, he did!" And then reading what people are making and realizing oh. they just want more cute moments with Knock Out. And again, at least with Bulkhead, people have slowly started catching on to him more recently.

tl;dr: people need to do more with Breakdown as his own character! I want to see his dynamics with other characters like Bulkhead and Starscream explored more, or even characters he never got to interact with like Wheeljack and the kids, I want to see his idiosyncrasies and background fleshed out, and even though l've spent a fair amount of time here kinda ragging on the ship, I do like KOBD and want to see more Breakdown centric KOBD fics.

it's kinda wild how much a good chunk of the fandom reduces him to "knock out's big boy toy" when he's a surprisingly well written character once you look past him. like you said, there's SO MUCH you can do with him.

and it sucks that he isn't expanded upon more! he definitely has some history with bulkhead, so why not play around with that and make things interesting? why not write some of his interactions with other cons, like how he must've felt when megatron straight up abandoned him? fuck, if you HAVE to make it kobd, write how grateful ko is for him! ko clearly loves him because of how highly he speaks of him!

i don't think this is solely restricted to the tf fandom, but i've noticed that a lot of times, whenever there's a bigger dude in an mlm ship, he's treated secondary to the smaller character. i was thinking about this with skyfire earlier and how he's so often boiled down to just being starscream's big boyfriend, but i've seen it with kobd, bulkjack, hell, even starop to some extent.

to a degree, i get why. people wanna write about the twink getting railed by his giant boyfriend. more power to them! but it sucks sometimes because clearly, there's a lot more to these characters than just shipping, and some people can't see past that.

idk. hopefully the big boys can get some more love.

🦋 He's honestly impressed on how good you're with animals, he personally isn't really fond of them but finds it cute observing you interact with them from afar.

🦋 You have a pet bunny, LJ is scared of bunnies, he doesn't like going in your room that much 'cause of it but will tolerate it IF only if he knows it's asleep and locked in a cage were he can't jump over. You got your Bunny to sleep in a carrier bag because of it, the bunny doesn't really mind because is cozy and you found it easier to take him to the vet now.

🦋 picks you up and carries you in his shoulder for no reason at all. He will just go up to you, not saying a word, picks you up and goes along with his business like you aren't in his shoulder like a parrot. He doesn't flip you over like a potato sack because you vomited one time he did it and you just ate a little bit too much so he just keeps you seated there.

🦋 he gets super angry at anyone who scares you, doesn't matter who he will scold/"take care" of them. (Is one of the rare times Ben gets an earful from him because of his pranks lol)

🦋 Has an "emergency kit" with your favorite snacks and drinks he keeps with him all the time 'cause that's the only way he knows how to tell people he cares (he feels words aren't enough)

🦋 he loves you to bits even though he doesn't really feels like he expresses it as much as he should so reassure him please

🦋 Cuddles!! He's so much like a cat and will trap you in bed cuddling forever if he could

🦋 As he doesn't really talk so he will try to help you work around your social anxiety so you can be independent, he will stay by your side during the whole time but you'll be doing the talking he's emotional support only.

🦋 As a doctor he can help you pretty well with the anxieties, breathing exercises and compression therapy (aka hugging you real tight) are the best way you founded together to calm you down.

🦋 might not seen like it but you two talk a lot, even though jack is not the most talkative and you're pretty quiet yourself. Is not a back and forth conversation but a constant stream of facts that either of you know and want to share, most are about medicine because humans are also animals so the treatment of them is pretty similar to pets

🦋 He really likes your pet bunny, Jack is a fan of soft things so he loooveeessss having it in his lap while he does miscellaneous things it's also why he's always in your room. He treats it like a porcelain doll that can break at any minute (which is kinda true considering he's the one handling it) and it's adorable

🦋 You teached him how to use bat-like echolocation, he finds it extremely useful considering he doesn't really see and all and he isn't a fan of canes (he honestly hates them, they're way to short for him and it takes away from the quick stealth he's used to have. Also they're not really useful in a forest área)

🦋 He helps you take care of the animals you sometimes bring in, only when they're injured though he can't really do anything else bedsides it, he don't really know how animals work that well and the lil guys are scared of him

🦋 Will make sure you're remembering to drink water as it helps calm down (no sugar necessary! Is a placebo mostly you calm down drinking sugary water because you have to take deep breaths while drinking) and prevents you from spiraling, kinda.

🦋 has tried the 5-4-3-2-1 method but he particularly hated it because there's isn't really much to see/hear/smell in the forest were he lives since he scared most of the wild life away so isn't much effective in calming you down, he also thinks is pretty ableist of a method

like since eris is the goddess of strife everyone thinks the reader would be all dark and gloomy all the time, but reader is a literal ball of sunshine, complete opposite of what everyone says.

but just because reader’s personality is opposite of their mom it doesn’t mean they doesn’t use their powers. i was thinking they have the ability to create conflict, like during battle and stuff reader can make their opponents fight eachother.

following the creating conflict thing, i also think reader is very good at arguing. whether it be something small or big, they always win. this would drive the camp nuts with reader always getting their way. i think percy would secretly like this because he thinks reader deserves whatever they want and more

Despite there being very few children of Eris now, I feel like most people know of the destructive power her offsprings hold

There's even cautionary tales amongst half-bloods to leave an area where discord settles in human hearts unless you want to backstab your friends

Children of Eris have been known to lack empathy for others, preferring to watch as people tear each other part over the littlest of things

This had made them starting catalysts for wars back in the day, until Olympus decided 'reducing' Eris' children would be better for human-kind

Her children still roam the world though, spreading chaos and strife just by their mere presence

Now when Percy was told this information for his quest to retrieve one of Eris' children and bring them back to camp, he was not expecting reader to be such a bubbly person

Homeboy was ready to battle them and take them back to camp by force if he needed to, something he really didn't want to do, but he was very much confused and unsettled to see how different reader was to what he was told

Instead of being a dark brooding figure, taking delight in chaos you were creating, you sat by your lonesome, appearing upset with all the arguing and fighting happening around you

While people yelled at each other, you would try to help them settle down and make peace, though this would only cause louder arguing between everyone

Everywhere you went, you spread discord and strife amongst the people you passed

Couples on dates would find the smallest thing to nitpick their partners over, customers and workers would argue over the dumbest inconvenience that shouldn't have bothered anyone

It was as if you were the living embodiment of 'having a bad day'

So when he finally approaches you, he couldn't stop the fluttering in his heart at the sight of your bright smile!

You were kind and compliant when he told you of his quest, something he wasn't expecting at all

Percy was waiting for you to at least put up some fight but you never did. Instead you just followed him with a pep in your step, happily talking to him about any and everything

Reader's presence itself causes calamity, their aura affecting everybody near them. It's puts people in a trance

I feel like people would see reader as a bad omen, a source of bad luck to stay away from

He sees that you're a naturally friendly person, but you always seem a little desperate talking with him

When he sees you use your power for the first time against some monsters chasing you, it sort of clicks just how controlling you actually are

Once you settle in camp, most people avoid you for the most part even when you finally control your mother's given powers💔💔

You try to approach people with a friendly smile and positive attitude but I guess people get too wary

The cabin you would most get along with is Ares, no doubt

It's just nature for children of Eris and Ares to get along as the gods themselves have worked together in the past on many occasions

Percy still sticks close to your side though, always reassuring you when you feel like giving up on making any friends

I think campers would start approaching Eris!Reader more once they witness them arguing with Dionysus over a situation

Whether it be over something simple as a cancelled game of capture the flag, or sending people out on an important quest that cannot wait, it's clear that the argument is in readers favor

The god and demigod are both quick witted, making back and forth talk look as easy as breathing

Its obvious your natural power backs the wine god himself into a corner when he cant find another excuse for his decision

And really? He'll never win an argument against the god of strife and discord's child

He sees Eris' unforgiving gaze in your eyes

So he puffs his chest and mutters a few words before disappearing with a low, "It's your life, not mine."

Didn't discover regressing/didn't understand their involuntary regression until they were older

Wasn't in a safe space mentally and/or physically to be able to regress the way we want to

Didnt "grow out" of regressing. I think a lot of people outside the community assume we will all grow out of wanting to regress at some point. Maybe some of us will, but some of us won't. Regressing can be a safe and healthy coping mechanism, no matter your bodily age!

And probably many other reasons I can't think of at the moment lol

I'm gonna talk about my story a little under the cut, but I don't exactly recommend reading it if you are little right now! I am going to be talking about s3xualization of agere and children's media unfortunately.

I started age dreamer/involuntarily regressing when I was in high school without really knowing what it was. I was really into MLP FiM during its height popularity. I watched the show, collected and played with the toys, did coloring books, took my MLP blanket to school ever day. You get the idea.

I discovered regression here in Tumblr, but this was yeeeeaaars ago, like back when nsfw was still allowed. The line between ddlg and agere wasn't as solid as it is now. Or maybe it was just because I was a kid and couldn't understand better? Either way ... i ended up getting wrong ideas of what agere had to be and ended up scaring myself off. I also had adult roleplayers leaving really inappropriate comments on my posts that made me feel icky. I thought agere had to be s3xual and scared myself off.

We also unfortunately probably know the uhhh .. types of fan art that was popular of MLP. And it just ended up making me lose interest in the series. The stuff was everywhere and it was hard to avoid even if you were vigilant.

I never got a real chance to understand what healthy, voluntary regression was. I still was an age dreamer, but most times when I involuntarily regress it is out of extreme stress and it isn't fun or pretty.

I had a lot of bad things that happened to me last year and in turn I am having more health issues. Chronic conditions I already had getting worse, and new ones popping up. My mom (the one who birthed me) has been helping me a bit, but it has still been a lot of playing adult. Making phone calls back and forth, filling out paperwork, figuring out disability leave, paying bills, etc etc. I started age dreaming more and more often to cope with the stress. Like I randomly one day bought a DVD player and sets of Winnie the Pooh and Scooby Doo DVDs lmfao.

I also never stopped collecting stuffed animals and came back to collecting dolls again last year. It helps that I have friends IRL who I don't think are regressors, but still enjoy collecting with me. (my friends don't know yet, but I think they would be accepting if I told them, or they might already assume I regress tbh)

I have kinda had age regression on the back of my mind for several months, but was scared to look back into it. I was scared of going through the same thing I did back in high school. But also denying I am a regressor and that I still need to heal my childhood wounds was getting heavier and heavier on me. I am sooooo thankful I finally felt safe to begin exploring regression again ♥️😁

Side note: while I absolutely don't care if people do ddlg and similar stuff as a kink/fetish, I am thankful that the distinction between that and agere is more distinct now. It is important we protect minors and other vulnerable people from having the same sorts of things that happened to me (or worse) from happening to them.

Oh I definitely do! here's some of the peak I've run into while reading fics out there! 1 - Travel Money: A very cool and well written about Celestia's thousand-year rule through the perspective of a coin! 2 - Wallflower Blush tries to assassinate hitler: Exactly what you imagine, lmao. it is so peak.

3 - The Haunting of Carroussel Boutique: A very heart gripping story about rarijack in which Rarity's home is haunted, and AJ tries so hard to make Rarity feel loved. (I actually did fanart for this one too lol)

4 - “And then… APPLEJACK WILL BE ALL MINE!”: A hilarious fuckin story regarding so, SO many women craving Applejack carnaly that they literally have an all-out-war about it.

5 - Starlight accidentally turns Rainbow Dash into a Car: Again, exactly what it sounds like. It's fucking hilarious.

6 - And Yet We Still Heal: If you're a fan of Bixel's grand galloping 20s au, this fic is set there and has some Sunset goodness!

7 - Principal Celestia Hunts the Undead: An amazing three-story series about the Equestria girls world being full of monster and our beloved characters being responsible for slaying them. Peak.

8 - The Queen of Canterlot: This one has got to have one of the most perfectly executed premises I have ever seen in any fic. The question it raises is simple. "What if Shining Armor and Chrysalis were the same person?" And my god it answers that question with GUSTO.

Why is this particular changeling so powerful? Because in her daylife she is the son of a very loving family, and the boyfriend of the Princess of love. But as a changeling, she gets to truly be herself, and go absolutely hog wild. Even onto the Princess of Love herself. A love triangle with only two people, babey.

[DW x ML AU] Miss Fortune and Seraphim

Back at it again with the OC akumas for @starlightwoofwoof 's Miraculous Ladybug AU! This time it's a two-in-one special! Featuring akumas of Luci the Imp and her twin brother Halo the Cherub. Or rather: Miss Fortune and Seraphim respectfully.

Miss Fortune (Akuma!Luci)

- Of the siblings, she was the first to be akumatized. And she was akumatized out of jealousy. - Luci loves to create chaos and generally be a nuisance to people. However when she found out about the akumas running around, Luci was furious.  - She was jealous that someone, somehow, could be causing more chaos than she ever could. - “You’re telling me someone is turning the other Toons into supervillains?! Why didn’t I think of that?!” - Luci - Needless to say, Allureium caught up to her pretty soon after she said that. Luci of course refused at first, why should she agree to a deal by the same guy that’s “upstaging” her? - Until Allureium suggested Luci could become the most chaotic akuma ever, one that would surpass any others (so far). Luci’s response? “You’ve got a deal, mister!” Thus, Miss Fortune was born. - She’s not huge like Dessert Despair, but she is tall. For a sense of scale, the tallest Toons like Sprout and Goob would reach up to her waist. Kinda similar to the Toon Handlers now that I think about it.  - So tell me, how do you make a troublemaking Toon even worse? Give her near-Discord (MLP) levels of powers. Using her pitchfork (which has been modified to shoot beams of red light), Luci is able to cause random stuff to happen. Like making clouds rain something hard as rocks or something like that.  - Regardless of what she makes happen, it’s either very inconvenient for the other Toons at best, and downright harmful to them at worst. Talk about real misfortune... - I think Lucky Lady would stop her with some help from her brother Halo. Halo probably being the one to distract Miss Fortune as Lucky Lady finishes the job.  - Her tail is prehensile, it can grab things. Her wings are also much stronger, allowing her to fly for longer periods of time, and to higher altitudes. 

Seraphim (Akuma!Halo)

- Of the siblings, Halo was the second to be akumatized. He was getting more and more frustrated the more akuma incidents happened. While he did his best to help innocents when they happened, it pained him to know he was ultimately powerless to stop them. As Halo’s whole thing is that he’s a peacemaker, and tries his best to keep things civil and orderly.  - But the straw that broke the cherub’s back? When his sister got akumatized. While they rarely got along, Halo still loves his sister. Yet he felt like a failure of a brother for not being able to prevent Miss Fortune from ever happening. - Allureium took full advantage of that. Of course, Halo was VERY resistant at first, he was supposed to be the bigger person! He was not supposed to give into temptation dagnabbit! - Allureium proposed that Halo could finally be able to stop the akumas and make up for his failure to protect his sister…Mixed with some berating insults of course.  - Tried as he might, Halo ultimately gave in…And Seraphim was born. Similar to Akumas like The Vine Guardian, Seraphim ultimately has good intentions, but the road to hell is often paved with them… - Where Miss Fortune is absolute chaos, Seraphim is absolute order.  - He’s the same height as Miss Fortune. Not huge but tall enough that even the tallest Toons would reach up to his waist.  Also like his sister, he is able to fly longer and higher with his upgraded wings. Why yes those are butterflies on his outfit. Wonder who that's an allusion too... ;)

- He also glows VERY bright in the dark. Like “hard to look at” levels of brightness. Oh and despite wearing a blindfold, he can still see normally.  - Seraphim has the ability to “purify” any Toon. “Purification” basically nullifies Toon emotions. Purified Toons cannot feel anger, sadness, fear, or any other negative emotions. Sounds good, right? After all, no more negative emotions, no more akumas! - Well…no. Purified Toons also can’t feel positive emotions either. So no happiness, no love, no confidence…And that was the catch. So Shelly still had to stop Seraphim even with the benefits his powers bring.  - He also has the ability to create and manipulate light. Photokinesis, essentially. - Purified Toons speak in a monotone and emotionless way, very robotic. Their eyes also glow completely golden and the colors are almost completely dulled out. - Like with Miss Fortune, Shelly would get Luci to stop Seraphim. With Luci considering it, “paying back the favor”, in a way. - If Miss Fortune and Seraphim ever met. Their powers would be able to reverse the effect of the other. Seraphim would be able to reverse the chaos that MF makes. Whereas MF would be able to “un-purify” Toons by blasting them with her pitchfork. - His eyes are glowing white under the blindfold. So I wouldn’t recommend taking it off, they’re pretty bright.

While "the network wants an episodic kids show, the authors want an epic dark complicated narrative" would explain A LOT about ML's problems, I'd still like to note that there are kids' shows that can do both, going full range from "mostly episodic with a sprinkle of narrative" (Kim Possible, MLP), to "heavily narrative but with episodic breather/filler episodes" (Gravity Falls, WITCH, the Owl House), with many variants in-between.

Even the transition from "fully episodic" to "more narratively-connected" that ML attempted to do can be done successfully - the aforementioned Gravity Falls and WITCH were more episodic in season 1 and more narratively driven in season 2.

However, I'd say there are a few other key problems that can be inferred from what we have:

The show tries too many things at once - as you have pointed out repeatedly. Magical girl and rom-com, single-hero, duo and team stories, wacky comedy and serious trauma, even trying to give several characters a redemption and a damnation arc at the same time (and failing with either). Apparently, it's not just TF vs writers: it's writers severely disagreeing with each other (see Thomas and Vincent's opinions on Chloe), and also trying to one-up the fans. Also, simply thinking too much of the work, which leads us to...

ML's total lack of self-awareness. Another famous case of a show that was almost entirely episodic is Phineas and Ferb. They use the same formula (the brothers build, Candace busts, Doof makes an Inator and is thwarted by Perry) over and over for four seasons. And by mid-season 1, the authors have been making fun of the structure, lampshading it, spoofing and twisting it, playing with "What if" episodes and never taking itself too seriously. When ML tries to be self-aware, it becomes either insulting to the fans (Animaestro), horrifically dark (Chat Blanc) or plain cringe (Simpleman). This is exacerbated by Astruc's arrogance and inability to ignore critics.

Is it possible to make a highly complex, genre-busting, yet kid-friendly story and succeed? Yes. But it needs to be better thought-out - if not from the start, then at the moment the network allows one to deviate from the formula.

And if all else fails and the story becomes too complicated and too repetitive at the same time... Well, self-awareness and the ability to make fun of one's own work can turn a sad mess into a hilariously fun disaster.

A big part of the reason that Miraculous is so fascinating to me is that there ISN'T a single cause of the issues. There are so many valid ways to discuss the show's problems. It's a masterclass in bad writing and what not to do!

It's why I'm able to run this blog. If it was as simple as, "here's the single reason why it's bad and here's how you fix that" or if the show never had any potential, then there wouldn't be much to talk about. But it did have potential and there is no single reason why it's bad. The causes are multitudinous as are the potential fixes! It feels like investigating some complex wreckage or an elaborate murder mystery in order to understand what the hell happened, which is really fun if you like talking about writing.

I find it much harder to discuss writing in an informative way if you only have good examples to draw from because that path risks stifling creativity. Just because a popular story did a thing well doesn't mean that story showed us the only way to do the things or even the best way to do the thing, but that's often the lesson people seem to learn. They see a thing that they like or even just a thing that audiences liked and want to copy it without understanding the full nuance of why they liked it.

A great example of this is Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender. He was such a well-written and popular character that all these properties started copying him even though the properties in question did NOT have a setup that worked for a Zuko. Praising Zuko won't really tell you all the ways that Zuko could have failed. Meanwhile, a case study of Chloe vs Zuko or even just a general discussion of Chloe lets you actually talk about the various styles of redemption arc and what you have to do to make them feel real. It's also far more interesting than talking how Zuko could have failed because Zuko didn't fail so why are we even talking about this? It's also far more interesting than talking about a bunch of properties that did redemption arcs well because that would require you to have seen all of those properties. But Chloe is from a single property and she did fail and people understandably have wildly different feelings about what the failure was because the writing was so bad, which means that digging into her writing is way more likely to hold your interest and teach you something.

TW for dark fantasies in a childs mind lol

Hello, minor proshipper here (17). Wanted to share a bit of my experience with fandom spaces and the whole and shipping discourse, that way i want to give antis (though i know most of them are not open to other people's experiences) some views of what i did go through.

I never had parental restriction over internet, i used my mom's cellphone and my brother's computer when i could. Given to that, i discovered what "sex" was to a eager age, before i was 9 years old. Of course i didn't understand fully about the implications of that, in fact i used to do "adult" things to myself in the living (rubbing against furniture) or in my room. I had some stuff i liked to see in drawings already, and it wasn't even explicit stuff. I discovered what vore was because i saw a MLP drawing, i didn't understand it but was like "well, i like to see some weird drawings too".

At age 9 i was gifted a tablet, i had my own gmail and had internet access without any kind of supervision. I watched YouTube and played some games, nothing out of normal considering a lot of my generaion grew up with games such as DDLC, hello neighbor, fnaf and etc. My favorite games were Misao and Mad father, i liked these kinds of games although there weren't many gameplays that I liked of them. I understand the story of the games, they were dark (SPOILERS! misao is about a teacher that rapes students and killed misao, i think he's kind of a necro too.) i knew what the villains did was wrong, because my mom always warned me about strangers, specially when they offered things like driving me home. But i felt attracted to the teacher of Misao regardless, he had a a sad backstory and i liked his personality, his way of making others think he is pure-hearted too. He is an interesting characters. I also had a crush on other morally dark characters, such as Freaky Fred from that show of the scared dog (i loved that show, some people say fred makes references to pedophiles i guess it could be), asgore from undertale, cedric from sofia the first (these two are silly but did bad things so 🤷‍♂️)

I could differentiate that the Misao teacher would be a criminal in real life, that i wouldn't be attracted to him in real life but disgusted and wished his execution, but he doesn't exist so that's not the case. I was in the undertale and gravity falls fandom too, and in that time it was common to see frans, billdip and even pinecest content. I didn't really cared, never liked those ships because they weren't for me. But i did like a lot of other darkships, mainly (Harry potter jumpscare) snarry, i discovered thanks to Wattpad and started reading A LOT of fanfics of them (i had a crush on snape too btw LOL, still have), if someone asked i would have the excuse of "oh no i just like it when harry's an adult and on aus!!!" BIG ASS LIE!!!!! someone cut off my tongue for being such a blunt liar, I LOVED THE FACT THAT IT WAS TEACHER X STUDENT lmao, i liked harry being like 14 minimum tho.

I also had a best friend (who now I don't talk to) that liked kuroshitsuji (i think he was a proshipper in denial she had SUS anime likes), i (person who pretended not to read any weird ship to please others) saw the anime (she obligated me to watch it lmao) AND IT WAS SO OBVIOUSLY SH0TA CONTENT!!!! i was like... side eye in a neutral way. You're telling me you're an anti (I didn't knew the word anti back then but whatever) while your favorite animes are KUROSHITSUJI and MISS KOBAYASHI DRAGON MAID???? plus danganronpa. Like sure i believe you (she denied to ship sebaciel but uhm sure i believe you girl whatever you say). I didn't even liked kuroshitsuji but from time to time i saw sebaciel content because they're cute.

btw i never stopped reaading ships of dark/problematic ships, even when i was a anti (poser lol).

Later at 13 or 14 y/o i changed school and FELL MAD IN LOVE like realllyyyyy bad i was insane for a teacher, since he was the only one kind to me and that respected my pronouns and gender (im a trans male). I WAS DELUSIONAL, AND I DON'T MEAN IT LIKE IN A ABLEIST WAY, literally wanted him to groom me and take me to his home and yk dumb stuff. So what i did not to go insane? Since the psychologists in the school sucked ass they were transphobic and blamed me for a lot of stuff. WRITE/READ FANFICTION AND DRAW MYSELF! express myself in art. i didn't tell no one about my crush until i was out of there. Obviously i wrote, drew and read about teacher x student, grooming, fluff and smut because tbh i might be hypersexual. That kept me sane.

"PROSHIPPING" as antis call it (actually refering to darkships) kept me sane, saved my life since i literally wanted to kms in that moment. Later a had a online boyfriend that was UGGHH so toxic (younger than me for 1 year) and was an anti so bad and i had to pretend to be one too while reading freaky fanfics. I broke up with him because he treated me poorly and a headmate of mine blocked him from everywhere.

I had other friend that i told that i shipped snarry and kaeluc being so frickin nervous and tey literally didn't cared (they didn't know about the characters but i told them), that's when i realised maybe i shouldn't be friends with antis. I currently have like 2-3 active friends i talk to, one i think it's not into shipping drama but dislikes ships such as billdip and says stuff like "i ship billford for the complex relationship I don't support toxic ships!!" and then says they're her fathers be so fr make it make sense... while the other despises dottore (genshin character that experimented on several children blablaba hes bad but he's my little meow meow) and darkships while shipping kazuscara that is like toxic and age gap and ??? THAT SAME FRIEND LIKES TO WATCH... HEAR THIS!!! real gore, like people killing themselves and is on shtwt too??? 😭

so both light and dark prognosticus are kept very secret in the FOTS world, obviously, but seeing as the dark prognosticus is ACTUALLY dangerous, it's far-better kept, so the prophecies of the light prognosticus enter the cultural consciousness much easier, so the stories of the four star children get spread far and wide, and in contrast, the far more secretive dark prognosticus gets seen as "not canonical" or just "old wives' tales"- so for a lot of people, the idea of the dark star child ALONE is ridiculous (it'd kinda be like if you talked to two different, i dont know, christians, and one says the book of revelations is about a hypothetical end, and the other says the rapture is happening Tomorow)

and even then, people who DO believe in the dark star child usually go "well it's probably that furious monster king they mention. he sounds scary"

it's the same for mario, because as much as i love to focus on Luigi's Issues, taking a step back into mario and luigi's ENTIRE life- yknow from birth to present- here's pretty much what it looks like, right

the purple tallies are every "foreshadowing moment" i've put in the timeline, so there's yoshi's island, where the only person who saw that foreshadowing is kamek, and then dream team, where antasma says he sees something dark in luigi, brothership, which i won't get fully into because spoilers, and finally, what i've been lovingly referring to as "the train wreck"- where a bunch of grand reveals all happen near the tail-end.

so for mario, it never even occurred to him! he's lived with this guy for at least 20 years with no incidents up until now! the heck is going on??

as for the alt timeline, i imagined it would be a very similar sort of situation to mlp season 5's finale where the gang travels through a bunch of different super-crazy timelines and you get just enough info to understand what's going on, but you can't stay for long because THERE'S THINGS AT STAKE!!

BUT this specific timeline has luigi being raised by kamek as one of his own, so it's bowser and luigi who end up being The Brothers instead of mario and luigi! mario ends up fine, of course, he just needs to work twice as hard to get stuff done. maybe peach teams up with him instead of getting kidnapped? much to think about. in a hypothetical where this was the real timeline, mario would have to convince both bowser and luigi to go along with him to do SPM lol, what a headache

i did a few sketches of some hypothetical alternate timelines- flashy, conveys what it is quick, and then POOF! its gone

as for antasma, i actually had the idea a while back that maybe he slowly starts turning everyone on pi'illo island into his army, so the more you clear the story, the darker the island gets- but that kinda happens with brothership and the glohmed concordians so i might have to scrap that

but yknow, in bowser's early appearances, he's portrayed as this blue-pale colour, and he also is rocking this really cool cape- and seeing as antasma is using bowser for his own plans in a parasitic way, i think it would actually be super cool for bowser to be a vampire for most of dream team

i think antasma would be the only one who could CAUSE nightmares/fear but anyone turned into a vampire by him would have to suck all the rest/good dreams out of people, so youre left super exhausted and when you go to bed you'll either have no dreams at all or have freaky nightmares

the necklaces have a special connection to the star children! i'm sure youve seen those 'cursed object' or 'magical object' stories where the object will just spawn back somewhere if it's lost. that's good for the star children! their artifacts aren't Artifacts Of Power or anything, moreso just yknow, charms of protection, of good luck, stuff like that. it's a representation of the star spirits' blessing. so a lot of it is just 'these things have sentimental value to these crazy kids'

but of course, they'll come back even if the star children don't want them to at the moment...

and after the fact, luigi's necklace is... wait for it... perfectly normal! it's no longer hidden, but it's not like it's some big scary macguffin, either. it symbolizes that the star children have broken free from the chains of "fate" and "destiny"- how they can choose who they wanna be now. and luigi chooses to be a normal guy!

Thought Week: Flowey

Flowey is apparently the most popular character right now! And while that is really intriguing, I'm not surprised! He's one of the most complex and most tragic characters in the entire game. So, here are my thoughts about him.

First Impressions

I first encountered Flowey during my MLP phase when I was 11. I was watching a Fluttershy Plays Undertale Let's Play, and to be honest, I didn't think much of Flowey at first. To me, he was just the meanie that tricked Fluttershy into running into his friendliness pellets. I was more focused on Fluttershy, to be honest.

However, that is my earliest memory of Undertale. My first exposure to Undertale, funnily, wasn't Sans. It was Flowey. Well, Fluttershy, but Flowey was the first Undertale character I ever saw. Toriel was the second.

And I only just saw Flowey as a cheeky flower with a thirst for blood. I didn't look into him as anything more than that. Not until I got into Undertale as a 16 year old, anyway.

When I actually did get into the Undertale fandom and learned about his backstory, I thought, "Oh. That's a cool character. A sad one, but cool nonetheless." He was interesting, but not my favourite. I liked his sassiness and his tragic side and his creativity, but other than that, there just wasn't a lot I could say about him.

My Thoughts Now

Frick, I love this guy! Not as much as the Skelebros, but he's by far one of the most interesting characters in the whole game! While there wasn't a lot I could say about him in the past, there's definitely a lot I can say about him now!

By the way, I'm going to talk about Asriel here too, since I consider them to be the same person. Well... They are, but I think people tend to forget that.

One of my favourite things about Flowey (and Asriel) is that he's actually a genuinely creative person! He's creative in such a childlike manner, and I find that so very charming. Some of his incredible creations include things like...

Just look at this kid go!!!!! He is clearly a creative genius!!!!

No, but seriously, he gives heavy edgy 12-year-old vibes, and that just works so well, Toby Fox is so good at writing complex characters, it's just... AJEJHFHSJSJG. ...!?:.

It really hammers home that Flowey is a CHILD. He is a child who never got to grow up, who went through something insanely traumatic, who misses his best friend, whose loneliness has driven him to commit terrible acts just to FEEL SOMETHING. I used to see Flowey as a sadistic villain! But now it's just... sad. Sad and nuanced.

Even Flowey isn't all evil. Heck, I have a hard time even seeing him as evil anymore. He's definitely a bad guy, but he's just so... tragic.

Honestly, I think people often forget about Flowey's ability to be GOOD despite his lack of compassion. He is capable of making good choices! Mostly during the True Mercy ending, but even without a SOUL, Flowey is still capable of being nice. And that is another thing I like about him, and something I feel like should be discussed more often.

This is only one example.

Flowey and Asriel

There's a lot more I can say about him, but these are the first things that pop into mind when I think of him. He's such a sad character, it's not even funny. Personally, when I write him, I like to write him as very nuanced. His psychology is what I'm most interested in. The same can be said for a lot of characters, though.

To me, Flowey and Asriel are two sides of the same coin. Simultaneously, I see them as the same person. They represent periods in his life. Asriel for the simpler, happier times, before everything went to shit (excuse my language), and Flowey as the traumatised result of that shit.

And no matter what he does...

He can never get those simpler times back. And that's why Asriel can't stay...

People always talk about Asriel as this sweet-hearted, innocent crybaby, but I think that Flowey gives hints as to what he was really like in life. He was someone who would do anything to make his best friend happy, who liked to engage in mischief, who was a sore loser. And yes, I still think he was a kind-hearted soul... When he had a soul. I still think Flowey has some shades of kindness in there. Some emotions too.

Flowey ISN'T emotionless. I think we know that already, though. Throughout the game, Flowey displayed emotions like frustration, fear, excitement, sadness and grief. He GRIEVED for the loss of his compassion. For the loss of his best friend. But eventually, he just became numb to it, especially after he got the RESET ability.

Oh...

The Narrative

Flowey is up there as one of the most important characters in the entirety of Undertale. That is just a fact.

Story-wise, his death, as well as Chara's, set in motion the series of events that led to what the Underground is like by the time Frisk falls down. It created a whole domino effect! If it weren't for Asriel's death, Asgore would have never made that policy, Toriel would have never retreated to the Ruins, Alphys wouldn't have done those experiments, Sans wouldn't have found an anomaly in the timeline, and so on.

In a meta sense, Flowey is also the most important character, especially when it comes to resets and time loops. Imagine having the power to do whatever you want and take away the consequences. It sounds exciting, but eventually, you just grow numb to it all. Perhaps you'd want to try something different. Something more... extreme. He reflects the player in such a terrifying way, although I can argue that he had more freedom than Frisk because Frisk is literally being controlled by us, and in terms of exploration, we don't really stray off the path that much. But Flowey could go anywhere, do anything, and that's what makes him more scary.

Also, I've just had a thought. In typical RPG games, you come across enemies and bosses that you have to defeat (usually by killing or dismantling), and if you fail to do that, you die. "Kill or be killed".

And that's why Flowey's so important. If it weren't for Flowey, we wouldn't have Undertale the way it is. He's more than just the main villain, he's a representation of a player who's been playing the same game for far, far too long.

Conclusion

I like Flowey! He's not my favourite, but I can see why he would be to a lot of people. His tragedy, his creativity, and his role in the narrative are the three things that stick out to me about him the most.

But most of all... I love that he's essentially a bratty, traumatised kid.

I haven't covered every single aspect about Flowey, but this is just thoughts about him, this isn't an analysis or anything.

But to actually answer the "so what are the themes here" question @thedemonsurfer asked, which I like, totally skipped over answering: here's all the stuff I came up with the last time I talked about titles with friends, including titles that aren't quite good enough (and/or are jokes) and talking about the actual themes of the fic:

One title can't do EVERYTHING, there's probably no perfect title out there that'll go "okay so head's up this fic is about bill slowly making friends with everybody while fighting every step against becoming a better person and also a bunch of agonizing identity/dysphoria issues from being trapped in an ill-fitting body and also a major theme is that redemption can't come from Purification Via Punishment but from offering second chances even to people who don't deserve it so that they have a space to grow and also we're trying as hard as possible to keep to the tone & episodic style of the show and also 60% of the cast has issues from being Burnt-Out Former Gifted Kids. Even the ones that are still kids." But like. It'd be nice if a title at least did one or two of those

I'm not against "lighthearted description of what's going on" since that IS a running gag in how i've been "titling" the chapters, and it WOULD both tell what's going on and do a better job of suggesting the tone what you're gonna get out of this fic

Bill Cipher Makes Friends. This Is A Warning The power of friendship, remorse, murder, and MABEL My Little Triangle: Friendship Is Magic Friendship Is Cosmic Horror Okay this is a joke title i won't go with because i don't want the title to be a mlp allusion but this does, unfortunately, unironically successfully capture several major features in the fic: friendship; cosmic horror; bill finding agony rooted in what should be positive relationships and attributing his self-professed "insanity" to the wrong sources; the collision between the friendly gentle earthly mundane and Bill's vast eon-spanning alien history; it sounds goofy; and it doesn't sound like many other fics

Not to give away too much; but in the broadest/vaguest possible sense, the portal is making a return. Which means... i realized recently... bill vs doors is, in fact, a theme with actual symbolic significance, and not just a running gag. I accidentally walked my way backwards into turning a plot convenience to keep him from escaping into something connected to a major plot point. so like. I could actually drop a door reference and it wouldn't be inappropriate.

Bill Cipher & Friends Vs. the Cosmic Horror of Doors It's not a good title but by god you'd know exactly what fic we're talking about "Haha the cosmic horror of doors because the goofy curse means he doesn't know how they work." / "oh no wait the portal is a door to cosmic horror"

I had.. cutie mark head canons for Pony LU chain and I need to talk about them (these are my own HCs and you guys don't have to agree btw!!!!!!!) So, how and when each pony gets their Cutie Marks: Warriors: same time as his scarf. He was given the scarf and then the cutie mark appeared. He got it a bit later than his peers, but it's a very cool cutie mark. Fitting for a captain.

Time: can i be spicy? i want to be spicy, he got his cutie mark when he was 20. Not when he did OoT, not when he did MM. 7 year nap and woke up hoping for a cutie mark only to see a blank flank. and during MM, Everyone comments on it! like he never gets the mark of adulthood ever! okay not "ever" i want him to get it when he's 20 or sth and his cutie mark sucks,. and even twilight doesnt know what it looks like like he got it during a battle

Four: Would it be funny if he has four different cutie marks and when he's merged they're like, blended together - and his cutie mark gains another shape each time he upgrades the four sword - but like, instead of the four elements for the four sword,.his cutie mark is the forge and it just becomes more detailed and has different colors - like a red fire, blue hammer, green anvil, purple tweezers

Twilight: Yall know Yaks and Cows exist in MLP as like... high sentient beings that also go to school and talk and stuff. What if Ordon Goats. like Twilight's Entire Village. Twilight stuck out like a sore thumb. And he's Very very disappointed that his cm isnt a goat. he got his cm at age 14 when he was helping everyone on the farm, and it's some generic rancher stuff like a hay bale or sth.

Hyrule: is the triforce. id like to imagine that full triforce wielders gets a triforce as a cutie mark. He has a bunch of magic of his sleeves, and if you know anything about MLP G4 naming conventions, magic-adjacent ponies are named after light-emitting things. So, Triforce emits a BUNCHA LIGHT

Legend: Oh my god I imagine he hides his cutie mark because its something very soft (bnuuy) and people wont take him seriously - he got it when he was very very young, before his adventures. But the rabbit cutie mark depicts a rabbit that's shaking an apple tree. (proof of courage. or sth. that's what im aiming for as a symbol of bravery, but I am no writer)

Sky: Got his CM at the same time as Sun!!!!! They have matching cutie marks. His is a sword and a Crimson Loftwing's feather, while hers is a pair of wings, one white (like the goddess, but she didn't know that before the adventure) and one blue like her loftwing.

Wild: He DID have a CM before the clammy, but one of the side effects of the Shrine of Ressurection is that it also erases that pony's cutie mark. he woke up with a blank flank. and my guy fought the clammy and found his own new cm that fits him. honourable mentions: Spirits! He got it when he got on a train for the first time, it. was. magical

Nova’s Notes - DD - May 9 & 11

I’m combining both of these entries into one since I have similar thoughts about both!

First off, yay we get our first time meeting Mina and Lucy!!!!!!!! And may I just say it’s great to see these girls being besties and chatting? You can tell just by the way they write that they have known each other a long time. Bram actually did a good job writing these women talking to each other. It feels natural and organic. Finally a “men writing women” moment where I don’t want to gag. I will still never get over the adaptations pitting these two lovely ladies against each other!! Why do we still feel the need to make them “compete.” Ugh :(

Mina’s Letter - I love how she starts right away with “forgive me for not writing you.” She already KNOWS Lucy is going to get on her for that, lol. Also her gushing about Jonathan is adorable and I love how she talks about writing to him in code. Those two nerds, they’re going to end me with their cuteness. Also, studying lady journalists to help with your journalism? What a queen doing that research. As she should! Again, it’s the bare minimum, but Stoker really did a good job with this one I must say. Seeing her be hopeful about Jonathan’s trip to Transylvania and the subsequent promise of seeing places like that together is a bit sobering. :( that is, until we reach her PS!

“You have not told me anything for a long time.” This line makes me want to laugh for some reason and I’m not quite sure why? Maybe it’s because I can hear a slightly scolding tone when she says it, or maybe because I can totally see me telling one of my friends this, especially to goad them into telling me the tea. Either way, it’s great.

“I hear rumours, and especially of a tall, handsome, curly-haired man???”

I’m convinced Stoker read my texts or something because LOL that’s literally how I type! The idea of her writing “???” is adorable and I love it so much. Also by “rumors” does she mean Lucy’s mom? I’m pretty sure she means Lucy’s mom. I think it’s funny the first really descriptive thing we really hear of Arthur is his curly hair!

We can get a good glimpse of Mina’s personality just by this letter. We can already tell she’s genuinely excited to be married to Jonathan and help with his work. She is also very methodical, as she is thinking of several different ways she can practice her stenography and shorthand to help assist him. Like Jonathan, she does her research by reading up on how women in similar fields conduct their craft. She is obviously hopeful and in love with him, as she dreams of seeing new places with him after they are married.

However, she does not neglect Lucy in her missive! While her letter is mostly about Jonathan (which I assume is likely due to to Lucy asking after him and most engaged people do tend to talk about their fiancé — just look at Jonathan), she does take time at the beginning and ending of the letter to a) assure Lucy she misses her and b) tell her the latest news ASAP!! This shows that she deeply cares about her friend, even with her impending nuptials.

Lucy’s Letter - “I must say you tax me very unfairly with being a bad correspondent. I wrote to you twice since we parted, and your last letter was only your second.”

Yep, sure enough, Lucy gets on Mina for not writing to both of her letters (I do wonder if Mina answered everything that was in both letters…). Of course, it’s in a good-natured way and it gives me the same vibes as Rarity from MLP:FIM fainting into a couch or something and I am HERE FOR IT (for those who don’t watch the show, I genuinely mean this as a compliment. I love Rarity -- also I could probably make a whole post about Dracula characters as MLP characters, hmm…).

“Besides, I have nothing to tell you. There is really nothing to interest you.”

*Proceeds to list the hottest gossip* I love this girl so much. She has my whole heart.

“Some one has evidently been telling tales.”

Yep, definitely Lucy’s mom! I would love to see the letters between Mina and Lucy’s mom tbh.

Also when talking about Arthur, it’s so adorable because you can tell at first she only tries to sprinkle in a little bit about him, like “oh he’s just someone I met” and then it quickly morphs into “we met this guy who would be great for you” (Seward mention!!!! Can’t wait to meet everyone’s favorite pathetic wet cat /pos) to “I’m already picking up his slang and using his first name and did I mention IM IN LOVE WITH HIM????”

You can already learn so much about Lucy from this first letter. She’s sweet and caring to the people around her, lively about everything and a bit unsure about love (since she doesn’t quite know if Arthur loves her back). I looked up her age (idk if that counts as spoilers but I’ll tag this as such just in case) and she’s 19!!! This is exactly the kind of letter I would expect a 19-year-old to write to her best friend. I just love how excited she sounds, as she should!!! She’s a young girl in love, perhaps for the first time, and wants her best friend to know. I do love how she tells Mina “write back to me IMMEDIATELY with your thoughts.” Same, Lucy, same.

Back to Seward. It’s so funny to me that he wants to make a psychological study of her while staring straight into her soul and she seems to be chill with it!! Like she still loves Arthur, but she’s also not put off by Jack, either. He’s just got that neurodivergent urge to study her under a microscope and honestly, who can blame him? I can also see why Lucy would ship Seward and Mina together; obviously, I’m a diehard Jonmina shipper (and I’m pretty sure Lucy is too, she just likes chaos), but I feel like Mina and Seward would totally bond over train schedules and other nerd stuff.

So, to sum it up, I love both of these girls and their friendship so much and I can’t wait to see more of them!!! Eeeee
