Top 10 Realities Behind Pizzagate and QAnon (Understanding How Conspiracy Theories Evolve)
In today’s world, we get so much information from the internet, social media, and our friends. It’s awesome to learn new things, but sometimes, ideas spread online that aren’t true at all. These false ideas can be confusing, scary, and sometimes even cause real-world harm. They are often called conspiracy theories. A conspiracy theory is an idea that a secret group is planning something bad,…

You know that reddit post going around about the woman who chased her ex out of her house by pretending it's haunted?
And you know how I said I'm taking a break from writing for a bit?
Tumblr media
Yeah, so... I lied 😳😳 I have been working on this for my Ineffable Meet-Cute series instead😳

"Steve wasn’t the perfect soldier, but a good man. John was the perfect soldier, but not a good man."
Well no, actually. I think saying John Walker is a bad person is just as much of a mischaracterization of him as saying he never did anything wrong.
Trying to define a character like John Walker (or any of the Thunderbolts*, really) with just "good guy" or "bad guy" is doing a disservice to the character and the writing and I honestly can't comprehend why someone would want to do that when no matter if you like him or not he is such an interesting character to analyze his motivations.
I think we're all in agreement that he is an asshole, but he doesn't have bad intentions and he IS a product of his environment (which doesn't justify his wrongdoings, but it does help to understand why he acted the way that he did and that it wasn't out of cruelty or lack of care for others).
There's a moment in the movie where Yelena tells Ava "you're not a hero, you're not even a good person" and it's pretty clear that that's what she thinks of John, Alexei, and even (especially) herself, too (one of the main reasons people think John is so much worse than the rest of the thunderbolts is that he wasn't outright forced to do what he did but I mean... wasn't Yelena actively trying to kill Clint Barton in Hawkeye because she blamed him for Natasha's death?? is attempted murder okay as long as you don't succeed?? lol.)
Anyways, back to what Yelena says to Ava in that one scene: the movie proceeds to show you that she was wrong with the scene of them saving all the civilians (a scene that perfectly mirrors the one of the original avengers, earth's mightiest heroes, saving New York from the chitauri, mind you).
The thunderbolts* aren't bad people. Maybe they aren't exactly heroes, yet. But they are getting there, and more importantly, they are trying.

Did you know you can grow your own Nikita at home? Just get some salt, fake blood, (real blood/strawberry jam works too), cookie dough and play noise music for 10 hours. Then, when you wake up, you will have a little Nikita. He’s only 3 feet tall though.

I tried, and this is what I got. Success or not?

Such weird responses to your survey. Pleasantly surprised that it’s only a handful, but still. :(
I wish people understood there was a way to go about your internet experience without making it about some sort of discourse 24/7. Very unhealthy.
if people understood that there's a way to just avoid things you dislike on the internet and not constantly engage with discourse and meaningless drama of/with people you don't even know, the internet and society itself would be almost unimaginably different.

Finding out an online figure is having/just had a kid is just a very “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP THEM AND THEIR FACE OFF THE INTERNETTTTT (and also please don’t turn into a family channel or some shit)” situation

Wild to me how many people I keep seeing complaining that show!Ellie ISN’T going to consumed by hate in this version and why would they change that?!?!
They haven’t. They wouldn’t. We are getting there. This is television, we marinate longer. They want all the show-only folks to get invested in Dina and adult!Ellie before they ratchet up the pain again.
And TV viewers tend to need more groundwork laid for big character reversals—they’re not as closely identified with Ellie as a person playing her in a game is. See Daenerys in Game of Thrones as an example of this kinda arc done poorly.
There’s plenty the showrunners might fuck up—among other things, I’m worried they’re going to pull some gross Seth/Ellie parallel—but they’re not going to abandon the central premise of the game.
I’m dead certain of this. Partly because it would be an absurd thing for acclaimed TV writer Craig Mazin and co-writer of the game Neil Druckmann to do.
But mostly because they’re laying the track for it and have been since season 1, episode 1, with Ellie’s fascination with violence. This season, off the top of my head, we’ve had foreshadowing from both Joel and Gail, plus a clear parallel drawn between Abby and Ellie (visually at the graves as well as by making Abby 19 when her dad was killed, as Ellie is now).
You don’t have to love or even enjoy the show, but I’m begging you to have some patience and to think about how different mediums and different audiences influence storytelling.

really fucking sick and tired of people who really fucking love the eddie book jumping on people who don't like or are even remotely critical of it's posts and like crusading their opinions around from the top of their high horses and shoving it down our throats.
if you like the book, great! that's awesome! love that for you! i am genuinely glad that you were able to find good in it and enjoy it!!
but not everyone did, and not everyone is going to agree with you. so, instead of going on some grand crusade where you find every single post that includes anything even remotely negative or negative adjacent or even neutrally critical and spending ALL this time and effort trying to provide unwanted rebuttals to every single thing, maybe you should just stay in your lane and find people who DO like the book and chat about it with them.
because i can PROMISE YOU, none of us appreciate it when you come onto our posts and start accusing us of "hating on" the author or "being rude" about her and her work and RIDICULOUS shit like that.
being critical of something and pointing out it's flaws is NOT inherently hating on it. i, frankly, do not know where people got that notion, but it's not fucking true so can we fucking quit assuming it is? and, critiquing something is also NOT the same as saying this is shit and it sucks and the author is a piece of garbage. again, where the fuck that came from is beyond me. you can be critical of something and still enjoy it. as soooo many of you love to point out, it's not perfect, why should it be perfect? so D U H. of course that means criticism can and should arise???
also. hot take (by which i mean ice fucking cold because it's NOT a fucking hot take), but going around toting FALSE facts as part of your "defense" does not make you or your argument look good. you, like the author, should maybe do a basic fact check first. 🙃
tldr, if you like the book, that's genuinely great, but stay in your fucking lane and stop seeking out posts from people who didn't like it to start shit in the notes.
#flight of icarus#stranger things#this has happened to me and to so many of my friends and im fucking SICK of it#i didn't even hate the book either!! i thought it was just okay#and yet i STILL get all these book lovers jumping down my throat about things i say about the book#things that - HONESTLY are not even like that scathing!!!!!#like god damn all im asking for is a little BASIC effort from the author and they all think thats me asking for her head on a platter#its NOT#i have no problem with the author#she's whatever to me honestly just a vessel through which the book was given to us#ALSO she is some nebulous blob way outside my orbit. AS IN any critiques i have of her and her work are NOT direct assaults on her???#like i dont fucking KNOW her#im not saying any of this to her face#she is a published writer she should KNOW the risks she is taking when she publishes her writing#not everyone is going to like it! there are going to be people who are critical of it! there are going to be people who hate it!#critiques and pointing out mistakes and wishing for things to have been different is not a fucking direct attack#those things are actually pretty fucking common responses to ANYTHING#and a lot of times theyre actually meant as useful helpful things geared towards improvement and not something to tear someone down with#some people on the internet need to go touch grass and learn how to CRITICALLY THINK again#the world is not as black and white as you think#n e ways. rant over. if you stuck around through all of that kudos to you. i am just. at the end of my rope with this bullshit.

This is a personal vent post about politics
It's just so normal and yet never stops being jarring, how whenever politics come up any delusion of civility so often just gets ripped away. You meet people in your daily life, you know, you meet strangers and friends, you chat, you share hobbies, you help each other out, people like animals and will frequently stop to help a stranger… Most of the time people generally seem funny, or nice, or whatever.
And then maybe an honest conversation about politics is had, or you look at the numbers of a local election, or someone posts something online, and these people are suddenly cheerfully telling you they want you dead, or want some other people dead, or are openly planning to throw us under a bus, or are just painfully stupid, or
It's the banality of evil, but this isn't even the banality of the hand making a fist, it's the banality of people deciding who's their collateral damage of the hour with less consideration than they would take choosing what to watch on netflix.
