I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

In your Spitfire AU, since Zuko is looking after Lu Ten II, what happened to Ursa?

Zuko is slightly older in the Spitfire AU. He was banished at fifteen, his head a little clearer and denial a little weaker than in canon. After his first look through the Air Temples, Zuko decides that if he can't find a myth, he might as well search for the next best thing.

Finding Ursa isn't easy, but in time he makes it to a secluded house in a near-forgotten part of the world. His mom is there, older and stronger and alive.

But she isn't alone.

And Zuko, as it turns out, didn't keep the best company during his search.

When Ursa is discovered and her secrets are laid bare for assassins (for Ozai) to find, she begs Zuko to take his little brother and run. She'll do anything it takes to protect her children, even if that means leaving them behind to keep a target off their back. Ursa diverts attention from them and allows Lu Ten's ancestry to be kept a secret. She orders Zuko not to follow her again, and disappears.

Zuko is left with a little three-year-old brother to raise and a mother he cannot hold onto.

bUT onto less mushy stuff: these two being shenaniganizers; tomfools. Bruce realized that Danny didn't actually know he was Bruce Wayne and instead of going "oh actually im bruce wayne" he went; "hrm... how long can i keep this going until he realizes...."

like. i think they deserve to be the sillies. just utter goobers the both of them. like, danny makes the wittiest side comments, dry quips, under his breath towards Bruce while they're out in public (Danny covering his face with a face mask) and Bruce is trying not to laugh. Meanwhile if Bruce makes one sly comment about someone to Danny, Danny's gonna collapse with laughter.

Bruce plays straightman in most of their bits, he has the best fucking poker face. But also I firmly believe he does actually enjoy Danny's puns. Look me in the eyes- look me in the eyes. Try and tell me that a man that willingly agrees to call a car "the batmobile" even after his eight year old ward grows up (thus negating the need to go along with his antics) doesn't enjoy a good, well-placed pun. Look me in the eyes and try to tell me that. That's right you can't.

He's gonna spit out a well-placed pun in the driest, most boring Batman Voice Ever one day while he's getting ready for patrol, and Danny's gonna fucking die of laughter. He's gonna lose his mind. Bruce is going to have a half-dead sickly teenager laughing his lungs out in the chair. That's a new core memory right there, every time Danny thinks about that he's gonna start giggling.

just!!! these two making each other laugh! That's so important to me. So so much. I nEED Danny to get Bruce to smile and laugh and I need Bruce to make Danny do the same. Danny's all snark and sass and Bruce is all deadpan and dry quips. Do you all see my vision.

It initially go through that phase, but quickly realize caretaker isn't punishing it for following whumper's old rules. Which obviously means they want it to continue following those rules.

So it does. It keeps calling them sir, keeps it's eyes down, doesn't eat without asking. Clearly caretaker wants this, and what they want is all that matters, right? If they didn't want whumpee to continue, they would have made that painfully obvious.

Just, a whumpee who is so sure of its ability to follow the rules, the habit. It's easier to follow the rules it knows than to find out they were lying, or testing it by telling it that its free.

(Spoilers for KCD2 romance)

One thing that really surprised me about Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (particularly the Hansry romance) was the direct reference to Galehaut and Lancelot (let me tell you I CHEERED), so I wanted to start talking about some other queer medieval Arthurian texts and Arthuriana adjacent texts.

I’m by no means an expert (I focus more on Welsh poetry and prose) but medieval Welsh literature includes some Arthurian literature, so I know a little about Arthurian Literature in general. Most of these stories are either Old French or German and about 13th century. SGATGK is 14th century.

For one, I want to say that the tale being referenced in the game is the Vulgate Cycle or the Lancelot-Grail Cycle (the Vulgate Cycle itself is multiple parts, with Lancelot’s (The Story of Lancelot/Prose Lancelot) being the largest). It’s a big ol’ mash up and retelling of a huge part of the early tradition + new stuff. There’s also the Post-Vulgate which is itself a retelling of the Vulgate Cycle. This is NOT the one you want if you’re looking for Lancelot and Galehaut.

Another thing of note about the Vulgate is that Galehaut and Lancelot are not the only ones I would give the old side eye. Gawain says (about Lancelot even!), “If God were to grant me my health… I’d immediately wish to be the most beautiful maiden in the world, happy and healthy, on condition that he would love me above all others…” Come on man.

Now, for other queer texts!

First up, I have to plug my best friend and my silly rabbit: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Thanks to the movie (which was good but fairly different) this one is a bit more well-known. I could talk endlessly about the moral of the original story and I think the Gawain Poet is incredibly talented at weaving together imagery. I also appreciate Gawain’s willingness to kiss women AND men. Some argue that it’s not queer because of differing social norms but personally I think Gawain wanted it. And by it, haha well let’s jusrt say—

Next we have Parzival/Percival (referencing the German “version” by Wolfram von Eschenbach here. Each iteration of a “Percival”, including Chrétien de Troyes’ earlier (and unfinished) Story of the Grail, all have their own differences). This one is even more up to interpretation than SGATGK. There’s a very explicitly performative aspect to Parzival’s presentation (his gender is “knight”), focusing distinctly on clothing and the role clothing plays in others’ reactions to him that I think is very relatable. I don’t have much else to say about this one unfortunately. I read parts of it once years ago but it was super interesting and there has been scholarship done on Parzival and gender so…. take what you will from it.

The next stories are Arthurian adjacent (as in, medieval stories about knights). First off: Le Roman de Silence is either about a woman knight or a trans knight who is… sighs. Forcibly outed. Interesting read but definitely a bit of a downer if you interpret Silence as a trans man.

Yde et Olive, however is very explicitly about a trans man! Happy ending too! I was incredibly surprised to read a 13th century story about a trans man getting magical/miraculous top and bottom surgery (yes, forreal).

And to cap off this small list, here is some medieval Welsh literature. This one is just me being a little wistful, but let me tell you about Blodeuedd/Blodeuwedd and the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogi (Math fab Mathonwy). This one is…sad. It’s not a good ending for Blodeuedd, but I could wax poetic about her: how she was fashioned from flowers to fulfill a gendered role. How she failed to do so and was punished.

There are plenty of other stories with queer interpretations in Arthuriana and other medieval literature (do not get me started on Guinevere and Morgan le Fay’s whole… thing. Also Luned and her Lady…) and there are plenty of modern/early modern retellings that are explicitly queer. I just wanted to stick to medieval texts for this and also limit myself to a select few among that even.

thinking about swan (as usual) and how she handles being in a leadership position and i think it'd be interesting if That Night was like. her first time actually holding that level of responsibility. like i think from early on when swan joined the warriors everyone could kind of see the relationship cleon was building with her and that it was likely swan would be named her number two, but what if it hadn't been official for all that long before the events of the album. and even once she did become cleon's number two, most of what that entailed was being at cleon's side and maybe she became more directly involved in decisions, but she wasn't really in charge of the warriors - at least, not in the way a traditional hierarchy would suggest.

swan steps into the role of leader because she thinks she's supposed to, and that it's what cleon would want her to do, but i don't think it's a position she's at all used to holding, which you'd think as number two she would've had some sort of experience leading, but both her actions and those of the other warriors don't really suggest that. swan makes plans, and the warriors go along with them for the most part, but she never throws any sort of authority around.

i know it's been brought up by others how the warriors don't necessarily follow such a strict hierarchy (like the riffs), but what if ajax questioning swan in woodlawn cemetery stems more from the fact that swan's position is "cleon's number two", and because cleon isn't there anymore then that role no longer holds any real weight. if swan had frequently been responsible for the warriors whenever cleon wasn't around, i doubt this confrontation would've happened at all, because swan taking charge would've been a given.

even her lines in light or somethin' ("don't put your hope in me" // "do not put your trust in me") don't exactly suggest that she's comfortable being in a leadership position. the way swan thinks about herself practically contradicts her role to the warriors, which is why i think it's interesting to explore the idea that this is still relatively new to her. that she hasn't really gotten much experience without cleon by her side to sort of solidify her role. sort of like imposter syndrome - she has the position but she doesn't think she should.

this is more of a personal hc but in my head swan is also one of the younger warriors in the group, which i think would further add to her insecurity as number two. i saw someone mention that fox being the youngest makes her character that much more tragic, and i think swan also being on the younger side has a similar effect. and just like fox spends the album wanting to prove herself as a warrior, i think swan similarly wants to prove herself as a leader. that she's capable of protecting the warriors. the way fox says "i won't let you down" in outside gray's papaya and the way swan says "i'll get us home alive" in woodlawn cemetery carry a similar weight imo. and they both have their moments (fox in reunion square and swan in the finale when she goes up against luther) but i think what makes it all the more painful is that swan would look at how everything played out through the night and view it as evidence that she isn't good enough. that she finally had to step up and prove that she deserves her position as number two and she let everyone down

Only not mortified because this is the first time actually in Ages that a cat has found a love interest within their own home clan?? Which is actually Notable by now. What I ACTUALLY care about is Moonpaw and Voicepaw. How exactly does Voicepaw ‘torture’ her. Maybe by playing pop music on repeat in her head for all we know. Please give the ghost tethered to one single cat who is desperately lonely any amount of empathy

Tawnypelt’s whole situation drives me insane why did they have to massacre tigerheartstar to do it man!! He’d never act like this!! He took his son seriously when he shared what he thought was starclan visions, he defended him, why would he not do that for his mother?? Everything we’ve seen him of him prior would suggest he’d do anything for his family. Even the Birchfeather nonsense I can kind of wave away as making sense with his character if I squint, but ‘Nuh uh shut up about the prophecy MOM’ is just comically evil of him for no reason. If twolegs are clearly destroying the clans and his mom, who has gotten prophecies before, gets one, why on earth would he shut her up about it??

Oh and Starlingpaw is there. His Two Sentences of blurb crack me up. He comes across as so self important there?? ‘Only I, Starlingpaw, 16 year old boy, can save the world!’ That’s nice .who are you again

Yknow what feels ether most Odd actually. It’s if you put the blurb for this third book after the first one, you could very easily say they’d come directly after each other. Absolutely Nothing changes between the second and third books based off their blurbs!! So basically Tawnypelt flounders around with nobody taking her seriously for an entire book!!! Either Hidden Moon and or Chasing Shadows are gonna be a dragggg with nothing happening, unless the Erins discover how to write interesting interactions and character moments
