Another point regarding Spy & Scout that I’ve been thinking about lately.

I’ve seen a lot of works in which Scout picks up the habit of smoking as a form of relaxation and stress relief whilst simultaneously paralleling Spy’s habit of smoking (like father like son).

Again, this might be projection, but given Spy’s absence in Scout’s childhood I do not see Scout picking up smoking as a habit ESPECIALLY when his job (RUNNING!!!!!) relies on having good lungs.

Reflecting myself in Scout’s character, my Mother smokes, and while I haven’t picked up smoking for myself (yet) I have had the desire arise in me as this is the environment I have been raised in. Projecting this onto Scout and applying it to HIS familial situation, I don’t think the desire to smoke would come to HIM given Spy’s absence.

Of course, I am in agreement that Scout would have tried smoking at some point. He has seven older brothers all of whom are like… gang members there is no chance NONE of them smoke. He would try it to fit in with his brothers and get their approval (younger sibling 😞) but at max he would’ve done it twice in my opinion.

INSTEAD!!! A parallel between Spy and Scout having addictive personalities is far more suitable in my opinion. If Scout has an addiction to adrenaline (and caffeine: BONK), then Spy’s is to nicotine. It’s a small change but I genuinely think it has more impact than having Scout directly copy Spy’s habit.

I think this is one of my favorite lines from the Wraith route because of (imo) how much the meaning changes depending on if you got there via Spectre or Nightmare. For Spectre, it honestly strikes me as a genuine question. Why are you doing this to her? If you're on the Spectre route, you presumably already know the Narrator can't really be trusted, since you had to reject his reward to get here. What are you hoping to gain from continuing to hurt her? For Nightmare, it honestly just makes me sad. As the Shifting Mound describes her, "She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt." This line feels like a plea from someone who genuinely doesn't understand why you keep rejecting her. She wants to be with you, but she just can't understand how to do that in a way which doesn't hurt you.

Parallel Dreaming.

I think its so damning that both 3 and 4 relied on some digital medium to fulfill that mutual desire they have to be close to each other again.

But while 3's main barrier is their self-loathing not allowing themself to seek 4 out again, 4s barrier is the fact that 3 has changed into someone she doesnt recognize -- a person who seems to not want her around anymore.

Gone were the days when they were so close that the two are frequently found standing so physically close to each other. 3 making slight brushes on 4s arm or shoulder to direct her attention somewhere. 4 holding their hand and dragging them off to someplace interesting or worth investigating.

What happened? A space sits between them now, silence impenetrable. When 3 speaks (beyond duty), its as if their words were even more reserved than before.

Did something so intense happen that they wear this melancholy on their sleeve much more evidently? Why are they clamming up like they did when they first met? Why arent they telling her anything? Are they....trying to push her away? again?

She failed something one time and its like they never believed in her strength anymore.

...is she simply not good enough for them?

So she dreams in the memverse, long and tender, of perfection. Of 3 seeing her, believing in her. Of 3 being warm with her like they were in times past.

Rougher training sessions, 3s constant criticism and disappointed looks, and this new cold distance they maintain with her these days certainly make her believe that thought.

They said they did all this to keep her safe. But it hurts, it hurts so much, shes not sure she wants to take them at their word anymore. Yet she tries to. Clings to the idea that maybe shes in the wrong, that this is for her betterment. That she deserved nothing more than this.

In very typical "riddle only gets L's on this blog" fashion, i forgot to put riddle in the lineup LOL and the tags.... wait ..... imagine riddle as Frankenstein and skully as Frankensteins monster.... riddle makes darling a friend so u will be less lonely but unexpectedly the friend wont stop following you around, peeping on you, touching you etc.... riddle thinks its acceptable for now ... until he finds his creation with darlings legs hooked over his shoulder as skully pounds you into the mattress . Riddle was wary when Skully would kiss your hand constantly or trail after you everywhere like some sort of escort, but he supposes he's just being a gentleman, learning from the examples around him. And that was good! Riddle wants his creation to be well-mannered and articulate, which is why it pleases him when Skully picks up classic literature and excels in the core subjects. I wonder how often what Rick says or thinks or does comes from diane. How much of what he does is because of her or for her, how much of what he says is an unconscious attempt to talk to her, or as her, because he can't bear an existence completely devoid of her. Does he ever see the world and try to look at it through her eyes?? Has his gradual shift in personality ever been an attempt to replicate her in some capacity because existing on an infinite scale means the only way to cope is to become the only thing that's finite? How much has he devoted in not only his life, but in his personhood, to the only being on the multiversal scale he can never replicate? How often does he see the world through lenses tinted with the color of her blood? The diane we saw in the hole was said for a fact to be how she would act outside of it, and she was so, so similar to Rick only after his downward spiral. Does he find any comfort in that? In knowing that his movement is being pulled by the very strings of her ghost? Does infinity ever dream of singularity and grieve for the fact it can't exist in the same place?

ive been replaying kh1 (going thru the whole series on steam since i never got the chance to play all the games) and i was struck by something a bit odd. i have been dyinggg to talk about it

it's about kairi and her past.

i don't think she's a replica or construct necessarily

but in kh2 there's a parallel drawn between her and sally in halloween town; and the same i think could be true in kh1.

sally is a Frankenstein monster/doll made by the doctor. the entire plot of Halloween town centers around the need for the dr to make a "heart" which requires memories from Sally (the scene of her picking the forget me nots looks a lot like kairi holding a flower for aqua too)

sora takes interest in the project to restore a heart to the heartless too because of his desire to restore Kairi's heart.

i havent really come up with a coherent thought about what this means.

but given that we know kairi was experimented on in a way that involved her heart, it just seems suspicious that this parallel was made twice to her and a doll that was stitched together and animated by a mad scientist.

shes also compared to chirithy in kh3, which from my understanding were created by MoM for keyblade weilders; and to Pooh, who is a toy/story book character that came to life

given too that Kairi already has a weird thing going on with her heart, it just seems possible that theres something..more to it that i have yet to piece together. and its driving me crazy

NO, WAIT… ANON YOU’RE COOKING. Idk what it all means either, but those parallels are so good and so true. Cause there definitely is something artificial about Kairi’s heart, even if just partially. It was experimented on, like you said, and it looks completely different than the organic hearts we see, and I suspect that’s why we’ve never seen Kairi’s heart station. Because it’s (at least partially) artificial. It would look totally different than all the other heart stations and would probably give away what’s going on.

i think of all characters vox is the most forgettable to me because they introduce lucifer as a foil for alastor, also with its own musical number...the whole 'vox and alastor are meant to have design parallels' doesnt work because half the designs look the same. pentious could be just as much of a parallel to alastor design-wise as vox.

i think lucifer just occupies the space in my brain as 'alastors rival' (why does. why does he need 2 of those.) and i have more to say about the other vee's than vox...the only thing i rly remember him for is for those. sorry i hate using this word as a 'criticism'. the cringey cut aways to give him quirky funnee one liners in the final ep. and that's it. sorry timothy television
